◆↬ jaide e. stone ; profile↫◆
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ pre i/ii - rgb arc - aged 0-18] (may change)
◆↬ jaide is a self-taught aprijuice merchant. she started when she was quite young - she liked to collect apricorns with her teddiursa and was quite fond of roller-skating to maximize the apriblender's juicing proficiency.
◆↬ she picked up on this trade when her mother introduced this concept to her which was still new at the time, and enjoyed this as a hobby before turning it into a profession
◆↬her childhood companions consisted of; teddiursa, hoppip, and ralts (all evolved as years go by). she is strictly not a trainer, but has practiced basic pokemon battle conduct
◆↬ jaide is an older sister to a sibling named gold, with an age gap of 8 years.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
◆↬as kids, they were an interesting duo. while they were quite the tough kids, they have their own styles in projecting it (his actions / her words). gold took an interest in skateboarding to copy her roller-skating tendencies
◆↬she wasn't exactly the same as her adult counterpart. she was a little rough around the edges and sometimes played hard with her words. she isn't the type to fight, but she knew how to get around people older than her and she was rarely afraid. she was fast, charismatic and somewhat smug
◆↬ jaide was gifted with an interesting skill to be able to read other pokemon's natures, almost psychic-like thanks to her kirlia who was able to steer her guesses in the right path. this would later be very useful when aprijuice would be popular in the pokeathalon games in allowing pokemon improve their performance in the multitude of sports*
*(this is aligned with the game mechanic where several drinks have different results with consideration on the nature of the pokemon drinking it and flavor of the drink)
◆↬most people buy her drinks because it actually refreshes the pokemon - but what customers don't know is the underlying magic it does when you mix the right flavor with the right nature/personality of pokemon. that's what fascinates her the most. this can only be achieved because of her good perception of pokemon natures.
◆↬jaide wanted to make it a point that her aprijuice business would expand beyond johto - her personal reason being to introduce the beauty of it. she sees aprijuice production as an intricate way to create natural beverages (and not artificial) for pokemon. (which admittedly, is a commonplace in johto. i.e: kurt and his pokeball production)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ gsc - oras arc - aged 19-25+ ] (most present frame)
◆↬jaide becomes more mild and calm in her personality due to maturity and events that occured in gsc, though she still retained the cheeky personality but it would be more sly and vague. and being a mom. of course /lh
◆↬meeting steven was definitely a curveball thrown at her direction because he's one of the rare people who can see through her cheeky facade. it's common for them to have interesting back and fourth that either sounded smart or really flirty. only they know really.
◆↬after officially being renamed to his family name, she treats aprijuice making as a hobby instead, she passes her knowledge to ruby and this helped him indulge in making pokeblocks. while it's hoenn's equivalent to her juice, she doesn't mind it as long as he's learning something.
Tumblr media
trivia ;
- her pokemon team consists of: (old to recently joined)
gardevoir, ursaring, jumpluff, glaceon (previously eevee), solrock, aron
- it's a bit of a running gag with new bark town's population that jaide and gold are the kids with the worst natural bed hair /lh (it's just like that)
- jaide and gold loved to skate together in the national park as kids
- the e. in her maiden name is evergreen
- goldenrod city her favorite landmark since it's the most modernized section of johto. definitely likes shopping there
- jaide doesn't skate anymore, but if she were in a floor of ice, (usually caused by her glaceon), she probably would skate a little. just for old time's sake.
- jaide has met all the johto and hoenn dexholders + only red from kanto. (mt silver incident) she has never personally seen blue, green and yellow but only through others' accounts of them
- she is right-handed.
- semi-canon statement, if she had a mega stone, it would be attached to the back of her necklace
- she supports fran.ticshipping :]]] (she also emotionally supports sapphire as she's not really good at expressing herself without being wild)
- dislikes zinnia. that's it /lh
- in my head, i imagine she's currently living in hoenn but she occasionally visits johto when she can just to see her mother and gold

omg ok i have a LOT thoughts rn it's about how red blue and jaide were like as kids back in pallet town... and many many more things later down the road
Pre-Champion Era (Gen 1)
So for starters - I'm confident to say that Red had definitely talked a lot more as a kid . I wanna base his character off of the Poke.mon Origins anime where he actively talks and fights with Blue.
Before Red and Blue began their rivalry, these three were best friends since they were all neighbors. They played, talked, and even had sleepovers together (I'm sure it was at Blue's house, and thanks to Daisy Oa.k being the one to look after them). Red and Blue knew they wanted to be Trainers, with Blue's aim to be the Champion (and to get famous along the way) and Red's aim to be the strongest trainer, but without much care for attention - and would even prefer not to be famous because of it.
Between Blue and Jaide, Blue is always the guy to impress and make himself appear cooler and Jaide was always the first to compliment anything and everything he does. Blue basically showers in her compliments for that, so that's why he's always seen interacting with her. With Red and Jaide, Red was always more calm and friendly, patient even - the only person who can get on his nerves really was Blue. Red always expressed his interest in the hidden potential in Poke.mon to which Jaide always listened to him ramble about. Jaide is very sweet to Red as well, always supporting him with affirmations and such. This prompted a small puppy crush on Red towards Jaide - however he kept that as a secret and didn't really know how to approach that.
But when Oak finally allowed Blue and Red to have their own 'mon, that's when their friendship became really competitive and it's hard to say they were really nice now - Oak also offered Jaide a starter 'mon but she denied it, as she thought she wasn't ready for it yet and preferred to just watch from the distance.
So now marks Red and Blue's competitive journey to be better than the other, which meant that they'd go travelling now - leaving Jaide alone back in Pallet Town.
Though, I like to imagine the boys tends to come back to visit Pallet Town if they were nearby/had the Fly move on their 'mon (also just to follow up the fact the player's mom would say "come visit mom again") and this gives them the chance to excitedly find Jaide again and gush about their victories. The boys come at their own time, not at the same time so it's probably a coincidence whenever they come across each other.
There was definitely one time where Red came back to Pallet Town to visit both his mom, and Jaide especially since he loved to hear her talk. But Blue beat him to it and he was busy boasting about his 'mons and Badges to which Jaide of course, praises him. This made Red really sad, so he thought to himself, he shouldn't get distracted with subjective feelings like this if he wants to be the best. So he continued to pursue alone and tried to block off his blossoming crush on her.
Red didn't come back to Pallet Town as much after that moment - but he was already reaching the Indigo League at that point. Eventually Blue was already champion. Jaide knew about Blue's victory through the television and could only cheer from there. Of course, Blue got the fame he wanted. everyone loved him, cheered for him, everyone had to know everything about this young boy.
Red finds out Blue is crowned the new Champion. Blue beat Red to it. Red usually did not care for leadership and only battled strong people JUST to make his 'mons stronger - but this one's personal this time, because it's BLUE. He wants to shut him down for being prideful and prove that he's BETTER than him.
And so he beat him.
The fame got to Red, but it was almost controversial-like because, how can you just switch champions in a week? That's rarity. everyone swarmed to Red, asking about him, wanting to interview him, everything. He didn't know how to talk to them, he was very uncomfortable. He didn't want attention, and this very much bothered him.
Oak was able to stop the people from interrogating Red, saying how "You shouldn't rush this special hour, let him be etc, etc". which shooed off the people. Oak assists Red, registering into being the newer recognized Kanto Champion like how the game does it. However, Red refused. He ran out of the league, not registering himself in.
Even as he ran out of the building, everyone he came across immediately blocked off his path, bombarding him with excitement and several questions and this did NOT bode well with the poor boy. No matter where he went, he was just swarmed with so many people. How can Blue like something to draining?
This is when he decides that if he's gonna be stronger, he doesn't want attention from anyone ever. That's when he flees to Mt. Silver. Though his mind had a lot of thoughts going on even if he wanted to be alone now. He mentally apologizes to Jaide, how he'll probably not see her again in awhile. Hs would've loved to hear her congratulate him, to hear how proud she is of him - but again. Don't let feelings get over your head. He tells himself.
Post-Champion Era (Gen 2)
Blue assumes the role as the newest Viridian Gym Leader and took this time to really ponder over his actions. He was quite disappointed to be just a Gym Leader, since he sees that being one is a lowly tier. This is also when Blue starts to talk to Jaide about Red as well, feeling bad for what happened to him and thought maybe his pride was very toxic. So he learned to tone down his attitude and still kept in touch with Jaide. Let's just say that Blue being separated with Red helped him get Jaide's sweet energy rubbed on him, and minimizing his hostility.
Skip to the actual GSC/HGSS game sequence of events, Jaide and *Ethan now moves to Johto, New Bark Town. Ethan NOW wanted to be a Trainer as well so he went on his own adventure too. Jaide is becoming interested in Pokemon Biology thanks to Blue having his pokemon for her to meet personally.
*Ethan is mostly MIA in the Gen 1 events but he's under Jaide's care most of the time, especially when Blue and Red are out of Pallet Town
Ethan's adventure is the same as the game - though leading up to the actual encounter with Red in Mt Silver, things get a little different.
Red, who's been in the mountain for possibly 2 years, hasn't really met much people aside from Nurse Joy whose PokeCenter was situated just below Mt. Silver, and the Center also doubling as his temporary home. (and since not much people came to the mountain, Nurse Joy appreciated having company)
Ethan is the only person who ever made it to Mt. Silver when Red was there, and they eventually had a battle. Ethan did not know who Red was, (Red did not want to introduce himself) or at least remembered what he looked like. But to Red - Ethan looked quite similar to someone he knew well. But again, he just pushed off those thoughts and accepted this interesting battle. Red lost fair and square to Ethan, and the winner simply smiled at him for a good battle. That smile was all too familiar with Red.
It reminded him of Jaide's. He must be related - that's her brother he was battling. how much time has passed now?
After Ethan left, Red gave himself some time to think about his friends. He's gotten himself holed up alone in the wilderness, not connecting with people he cared anymore, his mom included. Maybe he was getting too obsessed, and thought maybe he had to go back soon. Perhaps check how Blue and Jaide were doing.... but that didn't change his mind quickly, but at least it's a thought he's considering at some point.
He still continued to train alone after that battle, but to his surprise - he had another visitor.
It was Blue, perhaps a few days later since the encounter.
After careful introspection about himself, Blue confessed, and wanted to say sorry for how he acted back then, and told Red how he wanted him to come back to Pallet town and still wanted to be his friend. He even mentioned that Jaide is currently a practicing trainer now. Red, for a moment felt excited to hear that she was alright - until Blue says she's moved to Johto now.
Red was hardheaded, he wasn't just gonna listen to Blue with his apology. So he challenged him to a fight, to see if maybe the battle could change his mind.
Blue lost, and Red was happy - especially with how Blue respectfully took his lose, and congratulated Red. He did change from his old ways - so he decided to listen to Blue and go back to Kanto.
Post-Mt. Silver Events (Gen 4-6 or so)
Red and Blue are now best friends, with slight bit of friendly rivalry. It felt good to be back at home, Red told himself. They were not only friends, but they were now a somewhat popular duo for being the classic legendary young boys who conquered the league, more young Champions emerged after them and they were sometimes thought to be the trendsetter of this theme. Blue helped Red manage his personal social problems and would try to help him out when Red's lost. Within these few years, Red would grow to be a better Trainer, and even entering the Pokemon World Tournament held in Unova where he got recognized again.
Though even after all those years, he still hasn't heard much from Jaide. But Blue tells him that she's been doing well, and in fact is now working with a few professors since she's discovered to be a very excellent Pokemon catcher - he knows this of course, because he still kept in touch with Jaide through e-mailing each other. Red was slightly jealous that Blue could still maintain longtime and distance friendships like that. Perhaps he's hoping he could rekindle with her again?
Red has never gotten to say hi to her though digital communications even if Blue offered him to call her, he was rather shy to do so, but Jaide was eventually aware that he's back, and that she's hoping to meet him again.
The Reunion (Gen 7)
Red and Blue would later learn that they were invited to be the first people to host the Battle Tree in Alola, which they both happily accepted and traveled to. Meanwhile, Jaide was instructed by Oak to visit Alola to collect data on Pokemon who had Alolan regional forms. She was given a free booking to a Grand Hotel, where she'd stay for the time being. And Blue, being the extravagant one, would want to also get the most expensive hotel for his stay in Alola with Red. Although both parties didn't know they'd all go to Alola on the same day.
That is, until they actually met each other.
And that Red and Jaide would see each other again.

one of my favorite bits of minor coerthan lore is that there's an abandoned castrum (castrum aquilonis) that they stopped construction on because of how tremendously shitty coerthan weather is now. the garleans -- from garlemald! notorious for its harsh conditions and shitty weather! -- took one look around coerthas and said, "actually, fuck this."
this is after they sent a spy to infiltrate ishgard & lost her. thing is, lucia received the ranking of "goe" before her defection: that places her at the same social rank as rulers of imperial territories and provinces, and among the frumentarii, it would indicate leadership. she was not just a normal field operative, she was a major resource for the empire. and she took one look at aymeric and said, "ummmm yeah i'm catholic now."
ishgard racking up Ws and clowning on the most powerful country in the known world at every turn just by existing in the mountains and having cold weather and hot elves. that is so funny to me

Do you have a sonic 'white whale'? Something you really want to get or know, but it so far eludes you despite your efforts?
yes. the Shadow the Hedgehog themed wrestling match. sorry but you're getting a long answer here
this one extremely specific sonic event has eluded me and it drives me mad. here's what i know:
back in 2005 while SEGA was advertising the upcoming Shadow the Hedgehog game, they sponsored a few Pancrase Wrestling matches to promote the game. and by promote, i mean they painted Shadow onto the ring and had a mascot run around between events and hand out trophies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the ring and concept alone is already incredible and hilarious (especially when considering the reasoning behind the collab was "shadow and the pancrase logo have similar color schemes). however, this specific event did not go that well.
despite the few sources i can find on this event, there's a clear through line: there was an injury at this event, and while that's common in wrestling, it was... a bit of a bloody one. underneath the readmore at the bottom of this post there's an image of the wrestler above (i don't know his name unfortunately) covered in a bit of blood with the shadow the hedgehog mascot behind him. it's not his blood, the other wrestler was injured.
here's my white whale: i've never found any footage of this event and there are very few photos of it. a lot of tales exist: i've heard that the injury was REALLY bad, i've heard that the crowd booed at the shadow mascot when he came into the ring, i've heard that they even interviewed the shadow mascot suit. i don't know if any of this is actually true.
there is, however, a second Pancrase/SEGA Shadow collab that has footage, which i think is a karate tournament that shadow also appeared at. i've seen the footage of it before, i can't find it again unfortunately. nothing much happens, shadow just comes onto the ring (much to the competitor's surprise) and shakes their hand.
Tumblr media
so yeah. i wish i had more information and sources to link to but a lot of the links i had are now defunct :( if anyone has footage or any more info on either of these events. holy shit let me know. someone's gotta have a vhs recording of the shadow mascot suit running around that ring there's GOTTA be one somewhere
the one image of the wrestler i mentioned containing blood below the cut (nothing too bad but just a heads up) ⬇️

I think what gets me most about the rite of tranquility is that it reveals how fragile chantry control is. It is a system of chantry control, but it couldn't survive without chantry control. The rite wasn't even developed for mages. It was pioneered by the precursors to the seekers.
The seekers still undergo the rite to this day! Every time a mage is forcibly put through the rite, all they're doing is leaving out the last step, where a spirit pulls them back out of it. Spirits are engaged in the use of magic all the time! Hell, the extant cultural practices of the Avvar or the Rivaini aside, even the Chantry approves and funds magic such as spirit healing.
The lies upon lies upon lies that are built up around tranquility. That mages are inherently dangerous, that demons are inherently dangerous, that dangerous mages must be irrevocably saved from themselves, that tranquil mages have been irrevocably saved from themselves. They annulled the entire circle of Dairsmuid for relaxing this control and allowing their mages to be trained as seers in the Rivaini tradition.
And no wonder, if one single person publicising the wrong discovery could bring the Chantry's house of cards crashing down. (And it did, actually. The Circle votes for independence on the basis of this very information, sparking the mage-templar war. And I guarantee it only got as far as it did before being brutally quashed because it had the approval of the Divine.)
And it's so simple! The PCs and their companions are exceptional people under exceptional circumstances, to be sure, but Anders comes within a hair's breadth of discovering the solution when Justice's presence temporarily relieves Karl's tranquility. Haunting!!

not to psychoanalyze host!vic but “bad things do happen to good people sometimes” is certainly a bit bold coming from a person who is still constantly mourning a level of fame as a reporter they never had. sometimes your mom gets stepped on by a dog and sometimes msnbc doesn’t hire you, y’know?

If you don’t like Windows 10, Windows 11, or other mainstream desktop operating systems for whatever reason, consider using linux. It isn’t as hard as you think.
I switched from Windows 10 to Linux Mint a few months ago, and it went pretty smoothly for me.
Linux has a reputation for being difficult to use, and while it is somewhat deserved, it is quite overblown.
For myself, I think the hardest part of switching was installing Linux on my device. It required me to learn some new software and took about 3 hours on my first try. After setting up my laptop, it was pretty easy. The user interface took a few days to adjust to, and I fiddled around with some settings to my preference, but it was not difficult to adjust from Windows 10 to Linux Mint.
And if you can get someone else to install linux for you, all you need to do it get used to some user interface changes!
INSTALLING LINUX ON YOUR COMPUTER
Here’s an installation guide for Linux Mint if you want more detail than what I give. Link: https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/
You will need: a laptop or desktop, a USB stick, and USB writing software.
Download a linux ISO file. An ISO file is all the data used to install an operating system onto a computer.
Then you will need to download a USB writing program. Then you can use USB writing software to put the ISO file onto a USB drive. This will create the “bootable media” which will be used to install linux onto your computer. For installing Linux Mint on my device, I used Balena Etcher to write the ISO file.

Okay, I really want Watching and Dreaming to include in it's themes a conversation about The Collector's immortality and King's self professed semi-immortality. The big elephant in the room is that King is eventually going to outlive all of his family and friends dozens of times over. He starts implying that they have this kind of connection and understanding to Eda, but we haven't seen it play out yet. This is the reason it's important to set him and the Collector up as the genuine best friends I'm sure they will start (slowly) becoming by the end of the series.
Tumblr media
I find TOH to be a death and naturality positive show. Caleb will never actually speak from his grave to Belos, there's no communicating with the dead and any attempt at a reversal of the natural cycle, like Belos re-animating tons of Grimwalkers, is obviously framed as being bad. I could make a whole post just on this topic. It's also why I'm not completely on board with the guy from the in-between being THE titan himself.
It's been said by Dana that The Collectors are all about being unnatural, resisting change, and preserving time. They collect so that things may never fade, and the Titans were in direct opposition to this in their creating of new, different life through death. Therefore, I'd like them to tackle the theme head on with King opening up about his existential dread and uncertainties. One of my fears ever since the big reveal was that they were going to find some magical way to change King into a mortal being so that he could be with his family in a 'normal' way. This would be a bad move for a lot of reasons; primarily that it blows a hole in the legacy he carries as the last Titan and representative of his people. Though it might be comforting to him to live the life he originally expected, it would take away his unique identity. With the Collector, a lot of theories hinge upon his magic being drained in some kind of way, making him into a normal mortal child as a solution to his problems. I'll be really disappointed if this happens. I'm not against them preserving a large part of his magic somehow in an amulet to allow them to access it once they come of age and maturity (incredibly specific because this is my idea right now). But anything further would be taking away their identity as well as making King once again alone by the time the Clawthornes die (again unless they do it to him too.. it would be bad though).
Tumblr media
Both being the only one of their species remaining from the war (though there may be more Collectors further out there), their reconciliation is an incredibly strong theme. And for King to know that he's not alone in trying to accept his history and Titan-hood, and everything that entails. I'm also just incredibly curious about the kinds of things they would get up to in the farther future including some inter-dimensional or worldly travel and for King the rebuilding of the Titan species; a lore topic for another day but I tend to think King only having a dad is quite literal in that Titans are a 'male' only species and reproduce in a kind of magical asexual way.

ethan thoughts ethan thoughts + jaide dyanmics
Tumblr media
so in my version, I see Ethan to be a very soft and gentle kid thanks to Jaide's care for him but he's probably a lot more rational and wiser than Jaide. That's not to say Jaide's dimwitted, but between the two - you can tell Ethan would be strategically smarter in a battle than Jaide would be. They balance each other out. If she's the Catcher, he's the Trainer. That's why Ethan was able to win against Red years ago.
Now this got me wondering how a much older Ethan would do, aka in the time where Appleshipping is happening and all the HGSS events has already transpired. But I first do wanna share a HC team that I think he'd be using:
Tumblr media
not gender specific, I don't really mind
a lot of these 'mons are based on canon material
Typhlosion - obvious reasons, Cyndaquil always assigned to Ethan like how Lyra is to Chikorita and Silver to Totodile. (also accurate to manga!)
Togekiss - also another obvious reason, since Professor Elm gives Ethan a Togepi egg early in the game and it would eventually evolve into a Togekiss if Ethan were to maximize his 'mon's full potential
Gyrados - ANOTHER obvious reason, the whole Shiny Gyrados event happened and who in the world would not catch a free Shiny? (Jaide would be so proud!)
Umbreon - Personal choice of mine, if Red (in my canon) has an Espeon, then I think it would be a cool contrast that Ethan gets an Umbreon. Plus, they both have yellow and black as dominant colors in their design.
Ampharos - It's a popular Pokemon that everyone catches, and it's a neat contrast to Red's Pikachu as well. Also another yellow + black combo. One of the first pokemon that Jaide learned to be comfortable with, due to her fear with electric types.
Scizor - Also another popular Pokemon at the time, but for personal HC; Lyra and Ethan went on a Bug-Catching Contest together, only for her to get a Scyther that he would like to trade for - so she did, and also dropped a Metal Coat while trading so that it would turn into a Scizor. She's just that nice.
yes, I'm super aware that would mean Jaide and Ethan has a Togepi line together and YES Ethan's Togekiss is fond of Jaide's Togepi,,,
In the present time (Gen 7), I like to think that Ethan's holding his title as Champion in Johto but he also bounces around doing other things as a Trainer. He's friends with Lyra and Silver, and hangs around with them a lot. He would perhaps be 20-23 at this point in time. He never really has gone out to other regions apart from Kanto, which he occasionally visits from time to time + it's much more easier to go there thanks to Goldenrod City's train quick travel. He still stays with his mom, just to keep her company but he's very active to outside whenever he can.
Ethan and Jaide don't really see each other as much anymore due to their preferred professions being very different, along with Jaide's relationship with Red - but they still keep in touch through long distance communication and Jaide would be sure to visit New Bark Town once in awhile and that's where they would catch up with each other and just enjoy each other's company. He also borrows her Pokemon collection sometimes, she doesn't mind it.
Speaking of which, Red and Ethan may not be TOO close, since Ethan was still young and he couldn't really hang out with them much when they were all in Kanto. But Red still recognizes that he's a good person - and strong as a matter of fact. He'd love to battle him again. There's a sense of mutual respect between the two. Blue being the social butterfly would definitely give him connections to other people and Ethan is no exception. There's nothing too special, but they're good friends.
One day I'll get to designing how older Ethan would look, but this is what I have in mind for him so far~

dwarven wardens share the nightmares broadcast out by the old gods, right, but also, after the joining oghren has a real, weird, normal dream, right? dwarven wardens dream?
every night you go to bed and a few hours later you wake up as if no time has passed, and that's normal. and if you've never met any surfacers who might talk about their dreams, maybe you never question if your experience is universal. but there are dwarves who lead lives that bring them into experiences not shared by their kin.
a dwarven inquisitor dreams, because the anchor tethers them to the fade, and perhaps as well because the veil is so thin in skyhold. dwarves, too, can be pulled from consciousness directly into a dream realm inhabited by a powerful demon of the fade, and there they can dream.
everytime one finds oneself in the fade, does it wear down that barrier a little bit more?
does cadash still dream, even after the anchor is removed? has varric found himself in the fade so often that sometimes he might dream? does he sometimes sit up late at night with indigestion, rubbing his chest and knowing that he's about to have one of those strange dreams again? did bartrand dream, plagued by the terrible tainted song of the idol? when he slipped into unconsciousness, were the visions there waiting for him, with no reprieve in sight?
