"To learn how to do, we need something real to focus on — not a task assigned by someone else, but something we want to create, something we want to understand. Not an empty exercise but a meaningful, self-chosen undertaking."

“The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles but to irrigate deserts. The right defense against false sentiments is to inculcate just sentiments.”

Just an Idea from a Future Multicultural Educator
“The mind is something that is your own and should be your own personal domain of knowledge, security, and sense of self. Our culture is everything around us, and it is changing even as we speak. As you go on through life and create your own story through the life you live and the experiences you have, it is mindful to be aware that the culture around you plays a huge part in who you are as an individual. Striving for equity and multiculturalism, not just in education, but in life, is something that will ultimately create better peace in such a wild and crazy world; and what better means of communicating that than through education?”

About Me
Hello, my name is Bryan Rayl the final member of The Bookends. I'm currently a sophomore at Ball State University majoring in English Education with no minors. I enjoy intelligence driven games, reading, nature, and teaching others. This is what makes me want to become a teacher.
I strive to think in an open or multicultural sort of way. I support the equal and equitable rights of the LGBT community, racial minorities, and women.  A classroom with an air of acceptance that promotes discussion is what I hope to create when I become a teacher in the future.
I decided to become a teacher because of three stellar teachers I had in my senior year of high school. I hope that when I become a teacher I will be able to personally inspire my students in the same way my teachers, whom I still remain in contact with, did.

About me
Hey, this is Cassie from the Bookends! Sorry for the delay on updating the blog, but here's a little bit about me.
I'm a Sophomore at Ball State University with a major in English Education.  I love music, animals, reading, and children. I hope to have a discussion based classroom with a lesser focus on homework and grading because I feel that students learn better in an open discussion-based environment. I also enjoy theater and have participated in a number of plays between elementary school and high school.
I love it here at Ball State and am looking forward to someday teaching my own class and inspiring students to reach for their goals no matter what, and to make a difference in the education field.

About Me
Hello! This is Sheldon of the Books Ends!
We should all get to know each other, so here's some more information about me!
I want to be a teacher. Plain and simple. I have loved English ever since grade school, and that was the beginning spark to start me on the road to wanting to do something with English. When I hit freshman year of high school, I had an English 9 teacher that set in stone what I wanted to do with my love of English...teach. What better way to pass on your love and passion for the English language, then to teach it to the next generation.
I am Mr. Sheldon Hubbard,
I have a passion for English, I love to read and write, I have a very stale, punny sense of humor, and I would describe myself as what most would describe as a "geek." I am here to instill my love of English to a new generation and hopefully inspire students to follow their dreams and fly with them.

Our Main Standard
"The teacher works with others to create environments that support individual and collaborative learning, and that encourage positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self motivation."
We as future educators must learn to accept that each and every student is different; therefore, each student will learn and comprehend differently.
We must be adaptable to our students. The ability to adapt and grown as your students grow, is one of the most vital, versatile skills an educator can have.
Multiculturalism is just as important in education, and goes hand in hand with being an adaptable teacher.
Understanding that every student has equal potential to learn and grow in the classroom, regardless of race, religion, cultural background, or socioeconomic status, will create an academic environment and help initiate and engage the students to move forward, learn, and grow; both socially and academically.
