So much discourse online about Outlaws. It sucks that all this was totally expected from Ubisoft. They've always been one of the most egregious companies when it comes to monetizing single player titles. With the jump to $70 games it feels even more insulting.

We expected this news, but I’m concerned that they went with Ubisoft. I’ve played a lot of their games and they always look mediocre, have tons of bugs, and loads of microtransactions. Still, an open world Star Wars has been my dream for a long time. I really hope it turns out better than some of their other recent games.

Star Wars Outlaws looks interesting, but they didn't really show much here that was different or new from what we already saw. I need to see more gameplay before I decide if this is going to be an early pick up for me or not.

Of course, there are some red flags. All of which are completely unsurprising for an Ubisoft game...

Ubisoft loves to nickel and dime their playerbase. To get all content, they're asking $129.99 USD. So over $140 after tax (for me).

I personally do care a lot about cosmetic items... so as always, I'm bummed that Ubisoft consistently does this. Hopefully there will be cheaper ways to access some of this gated off content later down the road. I do want to point out that it looks like we can dress up Nix to a degree so I am hyped for that!

The other thing, and definitely the most egregious, is that the box art says internet is required to install the game.. 🚩Never a good sign when a single player game requires internet. It's ridiculous and counterintuitive to have a physical release that can't be played right off the disc. This is terrible for preservation as servers will, inevitably, someday go down, making the disc useless and the game unplayable for anyone but early adopters. And not everyone has internet! It may seem like that's hard to believe, but I didn't have internet for two years when we first moved. And I live in the US. It happens! I take it very personally when gamers take for granted everyone has access lol.

So for now, I'm looking forward to seeing actual gameplay. Part of me just wants to support the game because they're doing a female protagonist, but I really do have reservations about how the stealth is gonna be. I hate instafail missions and stuff like that. So we'll see. At least with an Ubisoft game, you know it's gonna be mega discounted fairly quickly after launch. They almost always are. But if the full game isn't on the disc, I might be rethinking the whole thing. Idk.
