My online life is so... augmented. Add-ons and plugins and ad blockers, anti AI filtering so it doesn't appear in searches, my tumblr dash looks like 2017 never ended, and all sorts of time-bending stuff. I get a bit of a kick out of chucking a spanner right into the capitalistic machine and watching all the boardroom big ideas get completely obliterated. I still have green hearts on spotify because it won't let me update. Green hearts forever.

Ohhh interesting! 4/5 members of the band (inc. Charlotte) are ex-Delain. Delain were one of my favourite bands up until it was reduced to being a project again, at which point I decided to just outright stop listening to them (symphonic bands and drama seem to go hand-in-hand). I do love Charlotte's more alternative leaning music that she has put out since becoming a solo artist, so for me, this isn't a case of "finally she's gone back to heavy music!" but still really exciting, if what we are getting is essentially Charlotte era Delain without the drama.

The local district council put up an April fools' joke and the joke was fine - about putting a ski-lift up this tiny hill in the area - like, ha, whatever, I don't have a problem with that. But they used an AI image to tell the joke. This coming from the local council - the people you pay your rates to for local services. An authority. Like... they probably don't know even the ethics of it. "A new thing where you press a button, and it makes it" kind of thing. The comments are mainly people from an older demographic, thinking it is the funniest thing on earth and, of course, no one is objecting to the use of AI. This feels like a losing battle and then some.

The privileged-rebellion paradox Example: Someone wealthy enough by birth/circumstance/other that spends their entire time acting like they are getting one over society by actively not taking part in it, but the only reason they don't have to participate, is because they are in a privileged position to not have to, from the very offset.

I couldn't believe it, when I saw this article. In September 2023, I attempted a trip to Snowdonia, that went wrong on so many levels. We never made there, but we did end up in the moors around Rhayader, and I noticed this track - thinking it was just a farmer's trail or something like that. I just can't believe I have first hand experience with something so very specific.

I hate how acknowledging unfairness in the world is seen as "childish". Maybe children are right. I don't think you should be proud of the fact that you've become complacent with the state of your miserable existence and took on this loser "it is what it is" mentality. Things can be better.

News reporter: You join us here today in the orangutans capital city, where we are going to put an end to this myth, once and for all. *a group of orangutans walks alongside the reporter* News reporter: Excuse me, sir, is it true that orangutans can actually speak, but choose not too? Orangutan at the back [in a whispered tone]: Keep your mouth shut, Brian! Brian the Orangutan: ...... News reporter: So the rumours are completely false, then? Brian: *Side eyes the camera* News reporter: Have you seen the movie 'Planet of the Apes' by any chance? Brian: I have actually and it is completely inaccurate, it's a total abomin—

The wealthier a person is, the frequency of important/stressful decisions they have to make decreases. Sure they have choices in life, but the tighter the grip of capitalism, the more tennis-ball-machine-like decisions a poorer person has to deal with.

just so you know. the correct response to someone complaining about how much stigma they face as someone with a highly stigmatised disorder is NOT "what if there's no such thing as neurotypical" or "what's the line between an addict and a non-addict anyway?"
like yeah sure those are interesting questions and the way we characterise things is often wrong and ableist. but there is a time and a place and it is quite simply not helpful to act like you don't know what someone is talking about when they say "people treat me differently once they know I'm an alcoholic/addict/psychotic person/etc"

I feel like writing a sketch. A two hander between a therapist and a patient. The therapist would have barely any dialogue. Whereas the patient would almost be in monologue mode. The gist of it is that the patient's "problems" are all caused by capitalism and unfair wealth distribution. Obviously, the psychologist would suggest problems relating to self, rather than the bigger picture. But ultimately the patient would be fine if it wasn't for the way that they can't own their own property/get a well paid job etc etc. "...go on then, call up Elon-fucking-Musk. Tell him you got a patient here whose life is severely infringed by the one per-fucking-cent. Tell him that you suggested he think more positively in life, but he's outright rejecting it, in the name of real world social and economic failings. Go on..."

I know that... "cost of living" (even though fake in its reasoning) is a real thing, with real consequences and therefore people are pushing harder and harder to try and make ends meet, but, selling items second hand that are MORE expensive than they are from retailers selling them new... like... in what world am I going to press on the second hand one? Especially as they are very much in a used condition. Surely they should be, by definition of second hand, at least a bit lower in price than the brand new ones. Otherwise, what's the point? Not saying that people shouldn't sell stuff, and, maybe someone less informed will dive in and purchase it. Good for them. I just... I sometimes don't feel like I factor into this particular equation... See also the utter madness of Ebay bidding wars, where items end up going beyond the price of new, sometimes way beyond.
