“Yes, he’s a people doctor too.” Theo continued looking at the man. Aside from the apparent head bashing, he mostly just looked tired. And hungry. And... kind of like his dad looked sometimes. When his dad looked like that, it meant that he wouldn’t be home for a few days. Like... now.

“He’s at his research lab, though.” He felt a buzz in his pocket and pulled out his scroll. “Oh. Looks like... that’s where every else went too.” Had Theo really been standing out here so long that his brothers just decided to leave while he wasn’t looking? He hesitated. He knew bringing strangers into the house was a bad idea, but this old man said he’s a Huntsman. And he was hurt. And he knew that if he wanted to be a Hunstman too, he had to help people.

“Do you have your uh... your Hunstman license?”

“Hardening and… and mani…manifestation!” He stumbled, but caught up. “My dad researches Aura and my mom is… um. Was. A huntress.” He quieted, his weapon vanishing. “Um. Yeah. And my sister! She’s also a huntress.” He nodded. His sister he could understand. But a woman he’d never met? It just confused him. “My brothers aren’t as strong, so they just help dad with research.”

Qrow’s eyes widened in surprise. He knew semblances could unlock early - his own was activated when he was a preschooler - but this kid seemed to have a strong mastery over his already. Then again, his father and brothers were scientists studying aura specifically. Maybe he shouldnnt be that surprised.

“That’s a very cool semblance you’ve got there, kiddo.” He said, sitting fully upright and rubbing the back of his head. Ow. “Is your dad also a medical doctor, or does he look at just aura?”

Qrow groaned and pushed himself up so he could feel the back of his head. That was a fair sized knot back there, after all. He shook it once, trying to clear out the cobwebs and sighed.

Right, there’d been a storm. Qrow’d thought that he could speed through it before things got too bad… He must have gotten knocked out with a hailstone. 

Thank god he reverted back to his natural form when unconscious. That was something he’d never experienced before.

“Hi Theo. My name is Qrow.” He offered the boy a quick smile. “I’m a Huntsman. You know what that is, right?”

He shrugged, still staring at the man. Theo grew up in the city where, mostly, things typically didn’t crash out of the sky. At least he was right. It had been raining, so his older brothers attributed it to the storm. But Theo had heard yelling too and since no one followed him out of the house, and he wasn’t sure how to treat a head injury, he just started at the malnourished man until he woke up. Which seemed to be... right now.

“Oh!” Right! He was asked a question. “Theo! My name’s Theo.”

“ you’ve been mostly-dead all day. ”

Qrow blinked up owlishly at the boy, trying to figure out what he was talking about. He was laying down, and had no idea how that had happened. The back of his head was throbbing, but it didnt feel like a hangover. It felt like someone had thumped him on the back of his head.

“Who’re you?” he asked, trying to distract himself from the pain.
