this is one of my main complaints for yuji as a character dude was legit useless entire manga and during that one month preparation he just became overpowered based on something they just kinda explain at the end, the stuff about him being in sukuna made him strong yada yada blood dna or wtv

why couldnt gege slowley develop his skills and explain on the way instead of cramming this stuff absolutely last second and suddenly he can fight sukuna

he was such a weak protagonist

he’s pretty cool now strength wise but it just feels so sudden and unnatural

how i view characters in writing (including shows, movies, books, video games) (kinda spoilers for csm part 1)

idk about you but when i watch read or play a story video game, anything to do with a story i genuinely see these people or characters as “people”? im obviously not saying oh my god these people in my video game have a conscientiousness and have real feelings!!! no i mean i treat them and care about them like real people. i think while trying to immerse myself in stories i tend to reallt make the people people.

where im going with this is i hate when i say i like csm and someone who doesnt know much anout csm just the gooner fandom and makima wow dogs woof woof thinks i also want makima soooo baddd when in reality fuck no i fucking HATE makima idk how someone can be so much of a degenerate gooner to not hate makima after the shit she pulled but its sad cus i cant tell people why i hate her cus thays just mega spoilers to the most important plot point of csm part 1

csm vs jjk

my opinions on the two as a person who is caught up on manga for both

csm dubs: character writing so much better character interactions so much better storyline more consistent character design amazing gimmicks very fun and simple not too long well organized, anime only things: doesnt have the typical anime tropes i dont really like what you see in slice of lifes and stuff, has very western feel especially because fujimoto loves his western movies and you can really tell by the direction he wrote csm in and stuff. gorgeous anime, only thing is episode one just had some iffy frames when denji beats the zombie devil but every other episode was fire

csm bads: lot of gooner bait initially which can turn off people sometimes cant tell whats going on in a fight but its ok cus when u reread it it makes sense its never nonsense. only 1 season out on anime which sucks cus the great parts are later in the part 1 manga

jjk dubs: iconic af gimmicks and powers are cool af cool cast of characters story is very deep fight scenes are insane the anime fight scenes are just mind boggling the scale of things are just crazy all the villains are fire af mahoraga is such a unique idea, shibuya was absolutely barnacles

jjk bads: idk lacked character interaction compared to csm, killed characters TOO EASILY sometimes feels like even gege doesnt know what he’s writing, i did not like the first arc where the tokyo and other jjk schools compete that was just pretty underwhelming “character development” with low stakes

i personally like csm a lot more but i still love both a lot

ik not a single one of you cares about but imma say it anyways guys asaden is sick af fs but my problem for not being able to fully support asaden is because i am quite literally both asa and denji but more asa probably thats like if literally me was into literally me that just wouldnt work so denreze is the best thing ever because that was some realll stuff going on very wholesome blah blah blah also i hate gooners that ruin csm cus they cant stop gooning to makima mf that person is a groomer and denji is a victim these gooners saying they want to be groomed should go die also my only complaint with csm is in retrospect there is way more gooner bait than i remember in like the first half of csm part 1 but i always forget about the gooner bait cus im so immersed in the second half of csm pt 1 and pt 2 in its entirety so far (it’s peak) i love csm for its good character depth and interactions designs and stuff i love the raw designs of all the hybrids and i love the more basic non explanatory gimmicks i like how it’s simple you dont need full panels explaing power systems and how a reverse anti point blank simple anti domain expansion works im sad whenever i hesr people tell me that they couldnt get into csm cus they got turned off by the gooner bait st the beginning but I SWEAR IT’S DEEPER THAN YOU THINK part 1 was so masterfully paced and executed with part 2 so far being really strong i feel like fujimoto has a plan, ive never felt like this guy doesnt know where he’s going and i’ve never lost trust in this guy’s writing every character death was implemented in a well thought out way while sometimes in jjk gege just literally kills people for the hell of it could gege seriously not think of anyway for yuji to survive that blast last chapter without randomly chucking choso in there to die you’re joking right another thing the denji power aki, hayakawa family dynamic trio was so well done, all planned out and made you really care about them. then in jjk they’re like yo check this trio out yuji megumi nobara but then they barely do stuff together or have real meaningful interactions then kills nobara off cus yea fuck u yuji u better lock tf in!! and megumi is in a hole. gege tried to do what makima did to denji by fucking him over taking away his family by killing megumis sister or wtv but like that was so underwhelming cus we dont gaf about his sister that much we just got her backstory a couple hundred chapters ago and thats it and now megumi’s in a hole sad af no will to live but who really cares even yuji dont seem to care or anyone fighting sukuna they’re unphased fighting this mf idk it’s just off

i still love both csm and jjk

csm would be so much more popular if it didnt have so much gooner bait please i swear it’s good

I think Denji is one of the most mischaracterised characters ever because everyone writes him off as "horny pervy teen" instead of "traumatised teenager who doesn't understand that sexual touch isn't the only way to convey affection and someone uses that as a manipulation tactic"
