I played The Beginner's Guide this weekend and WOW. I'm still (relatively?) fresh out of it, so I'm still working through a lot of my feelings on it, but it's made me think a lot on the imbalance between how I know I don't crave meaning from substance like this fictionalized Wreden and yet, like this version of him, I do pretty much exclusively base my self-image on external validation and have engaged in similarly toxic, manic behaviors in the past.

The headset is fantastic! The bass is a little ridiculous with the bass boost on, but it fits well and sounds great. I was torn between this one and the Astro A10, but I think I made the right choice.

I wanna work on my various Pathfinder campaigns today but I don't know what I want to add. Really, I just want to flesh them out some more. We'll see if I get anything done.

I forgot to mention it, but obviously I cashed in on the Black Friday/Cyber Monday discounts online. Got all my holiday shopping done -and- picked up some things for myself. Got my parents an HD Roku stick, [W] some official University of Alabama shirts, [C] some of her favorite candles, and [A] both Grim Dawn and Slime Rancher. As for myself, I got Subsurface Circular, Dropsy, Hollow Knight, and the Beginner's Guide. Only really got my claws into Subsurface Circular, which is pretty darn neat, if short as heck.

[A] also finally pressured me into buying Overwatch since it was wildly discounted down to $20. The lootboxes are still gross but the gameplay is solid, as expected. We've been playing quite a bit.

Also picked up a new headset for myself--a Hyper X Cloud. Less because I wanted it and more because my garbage Logitech G430 is already dead.

I'm gonna reiterate something I posted on Facebook here: I just realized that once this repeal of net neutrality goes through (and obviously it will), there are many individuals I'll never speak to again because they can't afford the cynically priced entry fee into our mutual internet spaces as well as entire beloved online communities that will immediately cease to exist as they're walled off and scrubbed away by corporations who have no one stopping them from doing so.

As an addendum: I think that once this does go through, I might go full Luddite and disconnect entirely. I don't know that I'd want to use the throttled, bastardized version of the internet as it will exist after this corporatizing of a once free resource.

I'm getting in that manic state where I want to be working on something and I don't have anything to dig my claws into. I think this is the worst part of these ruts. I've even tried picking up older projects and tinkering with them, but nothing's coming of it, as per usual.

On a completely different note, I don't know if I can support the Liberal Redneck crew too much longer. I've been trying to catch up with their podcast of late and they've cozied up with a few too many pro-Capitalist fence-riders for my liking. Every now and then they take potshots at communism/socialism too. Not a fan.
