when his eyes focused so did his other senses. he was laying in grass he felt the small blades gently poking his neck and his feet. he was wearing a sweater, casual sweats, and a pair of slides. he was certain he wasn’t wearing this when he died it was like when he died he shed his “sorcerer killer” identity behind.

you squatted next to him looking over his somber form. you punched his shoulder which caused him to wince but you both know it didn’t hurt him much “that’s for leaving megumi behind.” he groaned and pulled you down resting your head on his chest “i didn’t want you to see that. any of it.”

he doesn’t know how or why you were looking out for him, but he brushes it deep down he always knew you were always some kind of angel. not that he’d ever admit it to you. or at least he didn’t want to.

he remove yourself from his arms, stand up and extend a hand to him to pull himself up. he takes your hand, he almost forgot what you felt like once he pulls himself up he immediately laces his fingers with yours “what are you doing here. we both know we’re not exactly going to the same place.”

“im going with you” you answered immediately and his face turned sour “no no no, you are a saint hell an angel even, you don’t belong down there with me baby”

he mentally kicked himself for that, there goes ‘never telling you’.

you squeezed his hand “im going with you. i already left you behind once and i’m not doing it again.” he’d never blame you for that, your death was out of your control it wasn’t your fault and he’d never want you to think that “you didn’t leave me behind baby it’s not your fault.”

he sighed and brought your hand up to his lips pressing a soft kiss to the back of your hand “ok.” he mutters against the back of your hand “we’ll go straight to hell together.”

the flames roared as the two of you walked closer. but the of you knew you’d be together now and forever. in death, you did not part.

fortunately, he’s much more neater than the others but that just means he’s taking everything with him when he moves away

when the feathers are gone, is when you finally get some hits in
