Weird Questions for Writers (because writers are weird)
1. What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting?
2. If you had to give up your keyboard and write your stories exclusively by hand, could you do it? If you already write everything by hand, a) are you a wizard and b) pen or pencil?
3. What is your writing ritual and why is it cursed?
4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?
5. Do you have any writing superstitions? What are they and why are they 100% true?
6. What is your darkest fear about writing?
7. What is your deepest joy about writing?
8. If you had to write an entire story without either action or dialogue, which would you choose and how would it go?
9. Do you believe in ghosts? This isn’t about writing I just wanna know
10. Has a piece of writing ever “haunted” you? Has your own writing haunted you? What does that mean to you?
11. Do you believe in the old advice to “kill your darlings?” Are you a ruthless darling assassin? What happens to the darlings you murder? Do you have a darling graveyard? Do you grieve?
12. If a genie offered you three writing wishes, what would they be? Btw if you wish for more wishes the genie turns all your current WIPs into Lorem Ipsum, I don’t make the rules
13. What is a subject matter that is incredibly difficult for you write about? What is easy?
14. Do you lend your books to people? Are people scared to borrow books from you? Do you know exactly where all your “lost” books are and which specific friend from school you haven’t seen in twelve years still possesses them? Will you ever get them back?
15. Do you write in the margins of your books? Dog-ear your pages? Read in the bath? Why or why not? Do you judge people who do these things? Can we still be friends?
16. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever used as a bookmark?
17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.
18. Choose a passage from your writing. Tell me about the backstory of this moment. How you came up with it, how it changed from start to end. Spicy addition: Questioner provides the passage.
19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?
20. If a witch offered you the choice between eternal happiness with your one true love and the ability to finally finish, perfect, and publish your dearest, darlingest, most precious WIP in exactly the way you've always imagined it — which would you choose? You can’t have both sorry, life’s a bitch
21. Could you ever quit writing? Do you ever wish you could? Why or why not?
22. How organized are you with your writing? Describe to me your organization method, if it exists. What tools do you use? Notebooks? Binders? Apps? The Cloud?
23. Describe the physical environment in which you write. Be as detailed as possible. Tell me what’s around you as you work. Paint me a picture.
24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?
25. What is a weird, hyper-specific detail you know about one of your characters that is completely irrelevant to the story?
26. How do you get into your character’s head? How do you get out? Do you ever regret going in there in the first place?
27. Who is the most stressful character you’ve ever written? Why?
28. Who is the most delightful character you’ve ever written? Why?
29. Where do you draw your inspiration? What do you do when the inspiration well runs dry?
30. Talk to me about the role dreams play in your writing life. Have you ever used material from your dreams in your writing? Have you ever written in a dream? Did you remember it when you woke up?
31. Write a short love letter to your readers.
32. What is a line from a poem/novel/fanfic etc that you return to from time and time again? How did you find it? What does it mean to you?
33. Do you practice any other art besides writing? Does that art ever tie into your writing, or is it entirely separate?
34. Thoughts on the Oxford comma, Go:
35. What’s your favorite writing rule to smash into smithereens?
36. They say to Write What You Know. Setting aside for a moment the fact that this is terrible advice...what do you Know?
37. If you were to be remembered only by the words you’ve put on the page, what would future historians think of you?
38. What is something about your writing process YOU think is Really Weird? If you are comfortable, please share. If you’re not comfortable, what do you think cats say about us?
39. What keeps you writing when you feel like giving up?
40. Please share a poem with me, I need it.

Given those choices, before Season 4, but I think their relationship was well-written and engaging up until the middle of Season 6.

Eric and Donna’s relationship before season 4 or after season 4?

Both are wonderful, and the most successfully written non-romantic relationships these characters received in the show. I suppose I’d give it to Donna and Jackie, as there was a bit more substance and growth to the characters because of that friendship.

Donna/Jackie’s friendship, or Kelso/Fez’s friendship?

“multiple unhappy marriages”
I’ve been checked out on this show - have I missed some news?
debra jo rupp describing jackie as obnoxious tells me that 90s show is going to regress her to her s1-4 personality to explain why she's settled for multiple unhappy marriages with kelso. they know s5-7 (even s8 jackie) would've never gone back and accepted that type of relationship. i only cared about seeing her & to me this quote says enough about this show and i will not be tuning in!

All answers done in the spirit of a sitcom of decidedly unrealistic inclinations, so facetiousness is inevitable: 1. Hyde became the new Leo. By that, I mean he became so baked one day he took off on the road, stopped for gas, and forgot where he came from. In ten years, he’ll remember Point Place and abruptly head back to Point Place, leaving behind a note for the punk goth rebel he’d struck up a friendship with.
2. Too many dead ends on other relationships led them both to loop back around to the familiar. Out of earshot, others call it manageable dysfunction.
3. She got a job offer, got the hell out of Point Place, and took the kid with her.
4. He’s affectionate but inept.
5. Mid-level local TV producer with a common producer’s frustration: plenty of opinions and ideas for what makes good TV, insufficient skill and means to create what she wants directly.
6. Fez pushed his luck too far with how much PDA he could show at a country club.
7. The latest report to reach the Formans had her backpacking through Europe with a contingent of admirers of varying marital status.
I've thought of a game we could all play.
I want everyone to give their best theories on...
What Happened to Hyde after the show ended.
How the hell Jackie and Kelso got back together.
What happened to Betsy and Brooke after the show ended.
Is Kelso a good dad to either of his children or if he has any more that we don't know about.
What career Jackie has.
How Fez and Jackie ended
And what the fuck happened to Laurie
You obviously don't have to answer all of them but you can if you want to.
I'll make a separate post giving my answers.
I invite @iamjackieburkhart @queenbookbuff @those70scomics @thestupidhelmet @bish0628 @that70sshowgoldencouple
But of course anyone can join. 😄😄😄

I had this episode on my list for Zen 3 to 5, but when it came down to rewriting it, I just couldn’t get through it. Granted, there were extenuating circumstances in my personal life, but nothing other than a scrap or two of an idea would come.
I’d suggest skipping.
Asking for Input
Okay, so I have a little creative dilemma. I read through “Mother’s Little Helper” (7x07) and found that it’s completely incompatible with the direction Those ‘70s Comics has taken the characters. The episode is almost all filler, wrought with sexism, and portrays Red and Kitty in total opposition to how they’re depicted in S1-S4 and Those ‘70s Comics.
So do I skip the episode and move onto “Angie’ (7x08) because nothing story- or character-wise would be lost. (This is the easier option for me and probably better for the comics’ overall storytelling.)
Or do I attempt to take some elements from “Mother’s Little Helper” and write a totally new episode from essentially scratch (that, of course, continues the comics’ character-and-story development)?
I’ll ultimately make my own decision, but I’m basically asking, would you care if I skip “Mother’s Little Helper” in the comics? Or do you want me try to incorporate it into the series?

Not bad.
To the anon who just sent me an ask about That ‘90s Show –
I just wanted some mention that Jackie and Hyde are together.
Same. I don’t need to see them on-screen. I want Jackie and Hyde’s prime timeline to be repaired (it was broken by season 8, and That ‘90s Show doesn’t repair it).
‘Tis not to be on-screen. Fanfic and other fanworks have sustained us since season 8 of T7S, and they’ll clearly have to sustain us ‘til the end of time. 😂

And my lack of enthusiasm for this spin-off continues unabated.
I just found out that Jackie has a KID in T9S, Mila said that the kid is too old to be hers. I love that she addressed that because that's what we're all thinking. My heart is broken because it's pretty sure it's not Hyde's kid. 😭😭😭
Major spoilers:
It's not. It's Kelso's. And, apparently, Betsy doesn't exist. Betsy, who would be the perfect age for That '90s Show.
The show could've been creative, imaginative, and of the modern age -- despite taking place in a previous era -- allowed Betsy to be the kid of Kelso's who ends up befriending Leia and romancing her. But nope. T9S exists in the same heteronormative universe as T7S.
And, seriously, regardless of the kid's gender -- it should've been J/H's kid who romances E/D's kid. Duh. Character-wise, that makes the most sense. But real-world factors effed up the fictional ones. TV is constrained by far more by non-creative factors than novels are.
If T7S / T9S were a series of novels, the characters would've (likely) been kept consistent with development that made sense.

I’m late to answer, but - if they had been written well, I would have preferred Eric and Donna marrying in Season 6, with Jackie and Hyde’s development as a couple still being a pillar of Season 7.
Responses to last week’s Kitty’s Question: Eric and Donna getting married at the end of season 6, or Jackie and Hyde getting engaged at the end of season 6?
that-basket-case said: I choose Jackie and Hyde getting engaged
melimelrockswell1204 said: Jackie & Hyde, definitely
queenbookbuff said: Jackie and Hyde. I feel like the show was giving clues from the start that they belonged together.
scaponigifs said: JACKIE AND HYDE
randomwriter23 said: Jackie and Hyde. Eric and Donna had a lot of work to do before they could ever get married.

Throw in a flashback to the big reveal from Empire and tie it into his relationship with Red while they’re at it, and I might watch...well, not the show, but I’d watch that clip.
If that 90s show don't have a flashback to Eric finding out Luke and Leia are siblings than what the point of making that show in the first place? This guy was lulei biggest shipper

The actor who was cast as Jackie and Kelso’s kid is obvious
So that’s confirmed, huh?
(Not that it makes much of a difference to me; my thoughts on this show have been firmly in the range of indifference to apathy since it was announced.)
Have you seen this yet? https://deadline.com/2022/02/that-90s-show-young-cast-callie-haverda-leia-forman-ashley-aufderheide-that-70s-show-spinoff-netflix-1234925650/
I have ... now. 😂
Looks like a good cast. The character descriptions sound interesting (though some are clearly modeled after the T7S characters with tweaks). The actor who was cast as Jackie and Kelso's kid is obvious (practically a visual clone of Kelso. Don't think Jackie had anything to do with his birth. Kelso finally invented something that works, lol).
This will probably be an enjoyable show for many, albeit with a fair share of writing issues (like That '70s Show had). Still won't make T9S a canon part of the pre-S8 T7S universe to me by the very fact the show treats S8 canon and alters the T7S characters even further from their S1-S7 selves. If this show weren't related to T7S in any way, however, I could see myself giving it a shot. 🤷
