hi!! I was gonna ask if it’s not a spoiler, roughly how old were macaque and wukong when they met in Second Chances? also I love ur story and can’t wait until the next chapter!!! I hope everything’s going good!!!

In any case, I have been meaning to make a proper timeline of major events for Second Chances for a while now. So, since this question was asked twice, I finally got the motivation to draw up a rough timeline!!

(Disclaimer: These are not exact dates/years. They're just rough estimates of what happened and when. Also, there is a slight spoiler if you squint.)

The timline goes as such:

4300 years ago- PIF was born

4000 years ago- Macaque was born.

3930 years ago- DBK was born.

3900 years ago- Macaque left the village he was born in.

3800 years ago- Wukong was born on FFM.

3500 years ago- Macaque joined Sijumu.

3100 years ago- Wukong began training under Shifu Subodhi.

3000 years ago- Macaque was forced to bond with the shadow lantern (Yong Ye).

2901 years ago- Macaque escaped Sijumu.

2900 years ago- Macaque arrived on FFM (The Solar Eclipse).

2700 years ago- Snowy Days

2400 years ago- A group of assassins found Macaque and injured both him and Wukong (beginning scene of Ch. 3).

2300 years ago- Macaque and Wukong found their scarfs. (Shopping scene in Ch. 11)

2250 years ago- Wukong “borrowed” armor and Ruyi Jingu Bang from Ao Guang.

2000 years ago- They met DBK.

1800 years ago- Founded the Brotherhood.

1500 years ago- Wukong got recruited by the Heavens only to be positioned as a stable boy.

1400 years ago- The War on Heaven began.

1350 years ago- Princess Iron Fan was tried and acquitted for having relations with DBK.

1260 years ago- PIF and DBK got married.

1220 years ago- The 8th and final siege on Heaven ended with Wukong becoming subservient to the Jade Emporer in Heaven.

1200 years ago- The siege of Flower Fruit Mountain. Wukong was captured and thrown into the furnace while his home was burned.

800 years ago- Macaque left FFM to find Wukong.

700 years ago- Macaque was killed.

~502 years ago- DBK and PIF found out that Macaque has been dead for over 200 years. DBK went on a rampage and was then sealed under what would become Megapolis.

400 years ago- Macaque was revived by the Lady Bone Demon.

350 years ago- Macaque and Wukong met again for the first time since Macaque died.

100 years ago- Macaque was taken in and healed by Wukong on FFM.

1 year ago- LBD was defeated.

So, to answer your question, Macaque was 1100 years old and Wukong was 900 when they first met~

I actually just pulled together a timeline for Wukong and Macaque that details what major events happened and when. So, I will post that here in a second.

However! To answer this question specifically, Macaque was ~1,100 years old and Wukong was ~900 years old when they first met on the beach in my short story titled "The Solar Eclipse".

Progress report?

At the moment, I'm probably about half way done with this chapter. I have almost all of the sketching done so now it's just a matter of doing small connecting scenes and then writing and editing it out.

I apologize for the long wait! I know it's been over 2 months now (holy cow it's been over 2 months 😭) but I am steadily working on it. I've been traveling a lot this month and I just got a new job so I've been running around like crazy 😅

Worry not though! I'm still working on it so I should hopefully be done in the next few weeks.

That's a good question!

Honestly, I'm not sure how I've managed to get this far in my writing. It amazes me just how many people follow Second Chances and continuously read each new chapter. I never once thought that I'd get to this point but I'm very grateful for all the love and support I've been shown because it just motivates me to keep writing~

With that aside, I started out on a pretty big scale when I first started writing fanfics. I've written two so far and basically it started as one little scene that I had in mind and then I built around it.

I'm not sure how other writers do it but I think my way may be a little unorthodox LOL

I say that because I never start at the beginning. In fact, most of the time, I will get inspired and think of a scene to write but it's almost never a beginning scene.

Instead, I always end up coming up with little scenes that are sprinkled throughout the entire length of the story. It could be a certain kind of hug or a fight between certain people or one particular conversation or something simple like that. I will then take those little puzzle pieces and splatter them all over my canvas called Google Docs. Then I go through and I reorganize each scene based on where I think they would fit during the story's progression.

Therefore, I ended up with a canvas that had various colors splashed on it.

Since the beginning, I always knew that I wanted to start with that first chapter where Macaque gets food from "Pigsy’s". That was my absolute starting point no matter what.

So, I wrote that and then I went through my colorful canvas of ideas and I split it into sections. Each section was for a specific chapter. Now, after I wrote that first chapter, I developed a process where I have the current chapter I'm working and then a more or less concrete sketch of the next 2-3 chapters to come.

I don't write more than that right away. I have ideas for chapters beyond that but nothing concrete. That's because a fanfic is constantly developing. There is no way to make concrete plans. What you plan for chapter 10 might be completely changed because of something that you thought of for chapter 6. Or you could end up writing more than intended for one chapter and have to split up certain chapters (*cough cough* the shopping trip *cough cough*). Either way, I've learned that it's better to be flexible with what you plan to post when it comes to fanfic.

That's kind of how I started and that's how I've been making Second Chances so far.

In any case, I feel like I'm rambling at this point 😅 I could talk about writing techniques and strategies for days but!

My main advice is: you do you.

When it comes to writing, there is no correct way to do it. It's kind of like art in that way. You can add as many scenes or as many wild colors as you want or you could be a completely black and white artist or someone who only writes poetry.

Either way, the key to anything creative is to just do it. It doesn't have to be good. It doesn't have to be perfect. I can't count how many times I've written something and then came back to it and gone "that's absolute shit what the fuck was I thinking". On the flip side, I've also had times when I write something and toss it to the side and I come back and I'm like "Who the fuck wrote this cause I know it wasn't me man that shits too good" 😆

So just write what you want to write and make it as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. The best thing I ever did was get into the habit of writing just to write. Whether it was a memoir or a poem or a short scene in a story I'm doing, I just write. Freeball it.

What’s your pfp and banner from/ of?

Honestly I completely forgot I still had the ones that I have so I saw this and I was like... "What is my pfp and banner?? 🤔"

Anyway, my pfp is a drawing I did of one of my OCs. Her name is Zephyra and she's the lead protagonist in a series of books that I've been writing for a while.

As for the banner, those three characters are from another story I'm writing. Technically, they're from an old fanfic for a fandom I'm no longer a part of but I'm planning to re-purpose their designs and make a completely different story for them~
