The UCSE! Eos’ finest, they have like 2 spare Credits collectively, a total of 10 augmented mech pilots total, and an extremely limited number of viable defensive strongholds.

Eos is an Outlier Planet, flush with that neo-feudal, wild west vibe. Everyone who lives there is tough as hell, no matter what factions they are aligned with.

Having your body permanently altered for one specific purpose is very expensive, tricky, and inconvenient, so not everyone who drives a mech has access to direct use of Neurojack tech, which is required for humans to pilot a mech. Enter the Neurojack Helmet, a cheap and non-permanent alternative, everything you lose in mech-pilot fidelity, you gain in being able to engage in a firefight without fearing having your spine/brain stem overloaded by an emp grenade! Any harm to body or neurological functions are the sole responsibility of the user.

More mech + pilot + helmet stuff. I made the pilot all hot because it’s morning time and I need to wake up

I’ve read some gnarly tumblr head canon about being plugged into a mech and I really really like the idea of how intense and bizarre or perhaps inhuman it is, though a lot of it has an extremely sexual angle to it which I do not vibe with. That said, I like the idea of mech pilots feeling schism over time, I think that’s a great source for narratives and allegories about the horror of violence- which is my favorite theme in mech-heavy media.

Though, I think I agree that mech pilots are probably extremely stimulant/stimulation hungry, just based on how much feedback they get from being plugged into a multi-limbed, sensor-laden, super heavy, death machine- they probably are dry as hell when they’re not in the field. Then again, again I’m ADHD as shit and I may be projecting lol

Also drawing sci-fi is extremely hard, as someone who doesn’t like practicing geometric shapes and draftsmanship haha

I fucking knew it, I SAID it: they're making ADHD people the next culture war targets. They will 'just ask questions' until we lose every scrap of ground we've gained in the last decade and more. We may not quite inspire the same level of hatred as a sexual minority, but we can very easily be made to inspire disdain and that also works.

They will strip us of our accomodations and our medications and try to stifle any sense of shared identity, and if that kills some of us, oh well. So long as it fuels another outrage cycle, fine.

So many of the tropes they've been using on trans people work extremely well on ADHD people too! "There are too many of these people suddenly! It must be a fad! It spreads through friend groups! And online! People are going private for diagnoses and that's bad! They are using pOwERfUl medical interventions and we think it's freaky!"

I saw the first ripples of this in terf circles about two years ago. And of course it's spread.

6% of British ADHD people lost their jobs in the last year thanks to the meds shortage. SIX PER CENT! And that just made these ghouls go "ooh, tasty, what else can we do?"

Recently an 'expert' was on the BBC saying people see ADHD diagnosis as a "golden ticket." Laurence Fox has been ranting that the condition doesn't exist and threatening "'you won't poison my child's body [with ADHD meds] against my consent"

People need to be aware this is going to get worse. Maybe, if we're lucky, it won't get really bad. But it's going to get worse than it is now.
