This is fanart for a fanfic. Fanception. It’s a Carlisle/College!Bella fanfic and they go to a wedding.  The blue girl is Alice, Bella in the middle and Carlisle in a three-piece. Their outfits were described in detail and in my pre-sleep haze I saw them in my head so vividly, I had to draw. it out. Read Cygnusrift on AO3. She’s mad good.

hello Aisha, may i ask, how do you draw leather clothes look so well? do you have any tips on how to make leather shiny. I just love how you draw it.

Oh gosh I have an exceptionally stylistic approach at rendering shiny materials like pleather/latex ;;;;;

What I do is start off with a rough silhouette and then add a bright grey on top of it, being mindful of the folds and where it’d be tightly stretched over

Then take away and re add the grey in blocky portions, keeping the general flow of the original highlights. 90% of the time my silhouettes aren’t this blocked in and there’s white streaks showing through, but if not I pop some white on top of it. And ahh, yey? After this Id fix up some shapes and anatomy etc etc but this should give you the general idea. Hope this is what you were looking for!

Hey, big fan of your art it's so pleasing! I was just wondering if you jump straight into art/doodles or if you have a messy undersketch?? I'd love to see a process gif/video!

i offer monthly WIP files in my patreon just for curiosities like this *rapidly shimmies shoulders* But I’ll share a lil of that to answer this question!

it depends! With each sort of style I do I have a different process. 

for my black and white stuff (though Uncle Death’s lookin a little blue in the final) I always start with a basic silhouette and build off of that, making changes when necessary. 

Though I dont have the first steps of it, it’s the same for scribbles like this too where I use a pen tool (a style i call doodleblop for whatever reason). Start with a base and add on top.

For more finished illustrations, I usually only have the bare basics of a sketch down and then do all the line art on top, pretty much freehanding the details. I usually dont like my sketches to have more information on them than they need, I just need base shapes.

but for really simple stuff like this that was in the last sketch dump 

Theyre all  drawn as-is with no under sketch! Even sometimes more complicated doodles just…start, like Jackal Y below, but he’s also a weird case in which I didnt use line art and only used one layer.

This ask looks really long with all the pictures im sorry haha! But pretty much I just sorta go with the flow when doodling. I most often reserve under sketches for things I know I’m going to seriously line art and color!
