‘ZYT’ A 3 Part Concept Album By Switzerland based, Indie quintet, ‘Cold Reading’
Tumblr media
The full album will be released on the 31st of this Month (January) for those who still think its 2019.
What a start to the year. Impeachments and Elon Musk’s rockets. To end the January blues on a high note - no pun intended - is ZYT.
I’ve listened to the album, and I have to say - it’s pretty darn classy. Takes me back to my indie rock days when I used to show everyone MCR and Linkin’ Park songs.
If you’re a fan of Foals, Jaws or Balance & Composure I would give this, electrifying, quintet a listen.
The album consists of some heavy metal and grunge influences. The main singers voice is poetic and well spoken. Every component, from the drums to the crunchy lead guitar, is in sync. Its melodic - warm - heartfelt - aggressive and most importantly - ROCK!
As a taster - give their current single a listen:

Oh Malô - Miss you
The song represents beauty. It is a trivia piece of motifs and groovy organisation. The song comes packaged with perfectly justified mixing options and tokens of pure youth in the production with a slow bouncy beat and groove.

Apollo - Music from the Underground
This godly artist from Congo who currently lives in London (and has been raised in the UK after birth in Congo) is a rap artist.
His style is generically rap and chill. There is a lot of inspiration from different genres such as reggae and trap in his style as he uses auto tune in some of his productions. His influences are legends such as Bob Marley, Franco; the likes of the late Papa Wemba, Lucky Dube, 2pac and Nas. When listening to his music you will be able to sense some of these influences in his music however he has his own style completely which is unmatched and unheard. Live this artist has a hyper active style and interacts with the crowd well and performs very good songs to listen to live.
Tumblr media
This artist is not new to the rap game and has been making music for a few years now - 6 years to be precise. In some of his songs he talks about the struggles of being African and the controversies surrounding life - involving racism. Although his song - Kick It - is completely different and has a deep 50 cent vibe, especially the beat used. He also has some slightly grime beats and instrumentals that he uses which is great as each of his songs is completely different as he uses a lot of different styles in his music and all of his beats are completely different.

The nightingales
This is a French pop band which formed in 2009. Their styles are unique and all have an instrument to play - and they play extremely well together and have a lot of co-ordination.
The band is fresh out of the dungeon with tunes and songs that they have composed themselves. They have stunning apprehension and diligence in their music and are very virtuosic.
Their first album recorded between London and Paris has their best hit single “Too Late” - which you can listen to by pressing the hyperlink. There is a guitar solo in this which reminds me of Cliffs of Dover by the famous guitar player Eric Johnson. The vocals in this song remind me of James Mayer.
Their music is very poppy and has a lot of soul. They have had a lot of success over the past few years because of it. They also have 8 years of experience; after starting the band in 2008. They have performed at more than 100 venues so their stage presence is highly crafted and they perform very well live.
Their prominent genres are pop, jazz, funk, rock and soul. The band is made up of 6 key musicians/ band members.

Sankalp music
This is a young musician from London who performs covers at a lot of different locations in London - however as of recently he is starting to perform only his own songs which he has written - live.
The music he chooses is youthful and based on guitar. His primary instruments are his voice and guitar. He is currently working on a debut EP at the moment - the music being all of his own original songs. This EP will be out in 2 months. The songs he has written himself, which I have heard live are amazing so stay tuned and follow his social media accounts.
His voice is passionate and beautiful and he has great artistic voice overs when he records and plays the guitar beautifully and plays melodic accompaniment well.
You also may find some new songs by artists who even yourself would recommend. For example Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran or Strawberry Swing by Coldplay. Both of these songs are performed and recorded beautifully by Sankalp. The way he recreates some of these greats is completely incredible.
You should look at his Soundcloud for his music. His Instagram has some great pictures which you should check out - and follow him.

An interview with Anton from High Fever
Tumblr media
In february 2015, after travelling and writing a lot of music in Asia, Anton (lead singer + guitarist) recruited - what is now know as - High Fever. After months of, I believe to be, extremely successful auditions - theres is now a new eclectic band who has given Anton’s, personal - esoteric, lyrics life, new vision and direction. Members are from France, the UK and Italy - which makes this a very multi-cultural band. No racism here folks!
I give you, Anton:
Who writes all of the songs? I usually write alone, then bring it to the band, and they will interpret the parts in their own way. Chief - That’s what I find so inspiring about your work as a band, that you yourself write from your mind with an idea or goal - and whether or not it manifested exactly how you envisioned it - it still comes out sounding amazing.
How do you compose a song? First chord progression, then vocal melody, then start building rhythm section.
How many hours to spend practicing and writing new material? We can spend hours just on one song, or even a part of a song, depending the degree of difficulty.
When did you start as a band? About a year ago.
Who thought of the band name, and what was the inspiration behind it? Partly from an African singer called Ishmael Jingo, who had a song called fever... Jingo - Fever : Chief - A very interesting song indeed
How did you all meet? The musical equivalent of Tinder and Grinder. Chief - haha cool.
What did you do before being in the band - and what do you do now alongside being in the band? Always been involved in music in some form as long as I can remember....
What is your main goal in life? Easy, that one .... maintain a healthy dose of inner peace and serenity
What mantra would you share with the world? That is it ^^^^
What is your favourite genre of music (each)? Classical in the morning. I will ask the rest of the band for their favourites. Chief - Still waiting, haha
What inspires you to create music? The joy of creating something from nothing.
Do you enjoy playing to a crowd or playing to friends? More and more it seems to be creating music, which gives the most pleasure. Playing live comes a very close second.
What are your goals with the band? To be at point where the band can be a full time thing .
How can people contact you online? (Facebook, Website)
Do you have contact details for anyone who wants to do business (press/manager etc)?
High Fever Contact details:
[email protected] or [email protected] or you can message us on facebook.com/highfevermusic
What is your next move as a band? To get the music onto radio, to tour, get management and find a creative record company.
Tumblr media
The band have spent the past year gigging around London and in the next few months their aim to head overseas to continue their campaign of marketing their music to new fans and getting heard. So do them a huge favour and share this interview which has links to their Facebook/Website and Soundcloud so new people can hear about this fantastic 5-piece band. I saw them live personally at the Barfly (above) and the quality of each player is brilliant and they really move you.

TEXXCOCO - Influential
Tumblr media
Texxcoco is a garage-rock trio formed in the (Spanish owned) Canary Islands  in September of 2015. Everything started when Adriana Moscoso (composer, singer and guitarist) asked Cristian Muñoz (drummer) to be part of her new musical project. After a few rehearsals Adriana met, through some friends, Joshua Delgado and he joined the project as a bassist. One month later, the trio was winning the contest "Capital Sonora 2016" organised by the Canary Islands government. Furthermost they had their first EP out called "BLU" which was autoproduced.
The band are influenced by The Pixies, Pink Floyd, The Sonics,Sonic Youth and many more artists.
Texxcoco has created a new genre of music called "Subtropical Garage"; which is psychedelia, garage and grunge influenced.
One of the best emerging bands in the national scene, Texxcoco has been signed by Clifford Records and their EP "BLU" will be released in 7" vinyl the 22th April!
CLICK: TO CHECK OTHER TRACKS - NOW
In its short career Texxcoco has attracted the interest of many national and international publications such as It's All Indie. "If Hinds were flying the flag for mainland Spain, then Texxcoco are the Indie darlings of the Canary Islands in the Atlantic." (ITS ALL INDIE)
Personally, their style of music and taste is amazing and channels a lot of great energy and good vibes. Their versatility as a band is astounding and I personally wish them all the best. This is a band that is definitely on its way to greatness. If you like London Anarchy bands you will definitely love this band.

Interview with Ben Janet from Tropical Contact
Tumblr media
At an event in Camden, I watched Tropical Contact perform, and they were intense. On stage they had a super beastly attitude - and played super loud music. Ben Janet even, partly, crowd surfed on a volunteering audience member - who then placed him back on stage - and the show carried on - microphone still in hand. They were live and loud - and super awesome. I couldn’t have asked for a better performance - nor watched one from any other band. They’re crowd pleasers - and they obviously love performing - and probably a lot of heavy metal; because these guys, although Janet was in suit attire - made head banging history.
Complete Rock N’ Roll.
I contacted the band and got through to the one and only Ben Janet (lead singer). I explained that I saw him live - and thought he was super awesome - and super needed to write a post on my experience and get an interview done with him. He said yes ... - and now we’re best friends.
So without further ramble, I give you BEN JANET!
Tumblr media
1. Who thought of the band name and why 'Tropical Contact'?
Well Robyn, the name stems from a period in my life when I was commuting a lot between the Netherlands and the Bahamas during my time employed as a drug mule. My Dutch handlers referred to me as 'The Tropical Contact'. When the time came to get out of the game and start a band which required a name, I just dropped the 'The', it was a no-brainer. Chief - No ... frickin ... way. I hope it was just Tobacco.
2. How did all of you meet?
Well, we all grew up in the same town in Yorkshire, playing in different bands on the same bills, going to the Huddersfield discotheque on a Friday night, so we all knew each other, I mean heck, some of the guys were tight, I mean really tight. We were wild, we were hot, we were ready. Then we left it fifteen years and now we're doing this. Chief - That’s awesome.
3. Who would you say is the most dedicated to the band?
I would say our tour manager Miffy. Even when we can't be arsed, he just won't let it lie.
4. Which genre of music do you all favour?
We ALL favour ROCK. No question. I defy anyone to even challenge us on that point. I will fight them, and whether I win or lose, and I will probably lose, it doesn't matter. Rock is the only thing we see. In our work lives? Rock. In our personal lives? Rock. The first thing Rob's kid did when she stage dived into the world was throw the devil horns and ask the midwife where the bar was. And that's a fact. I wasn't there but he told me that she did that. The point is, rock is in our genetic make up. Although The Lighthouse Family are also a big influence. Chief - Rock and The Lighthouse Family everyone - you heard it here first.
5. How long have you all been in the band?
Well this band only started in 2013, so like about 3 years.
6. What experience did you have that made you want to commit to being in a band?
I became 30. The biological rock clock was ticking.
7. What is, as a band, your favourite song to perform live?
Its really hard to tell cos every time I sneak a glance at the guys while we're playing (cos often when we're busting out a show I like to break off from thinking about performing and keep tabs on whether the lads are having a good time) they're all doing different stuff, like, when I look at Joe he's always making a face like he's getting blown off by a Haribo Tangfastic which as you can imagine is a difficult expression to read. Ed looks into the middle distance as if at Wembley or doing a sum. When I look at Charlie he's usually texting, so Rob is my only barometer. Come rain or shine, whenever I look over he's there smiling back at me as if to say "Yeah dude, we're doing a gig." I guess based on that, probably all the songs. They're aaaall good.
8. How do you feel when you're onstage?
Depending on the height of the stage I can feel a lot taller. Sadly the rest of the guys in the band are really tall anyway so I can never catch up with them because they're stood on the stage too.
9. Do you enjoy performing?
Absolutely. Having an actual excuse to mess about to loud music? I'm in.
10. What is one of your personal goals in life?
Well Robyn, personally I'd like to find true love and settle down somewhere on the UK coastline, preferably in a nice cottage with a view of the sea. No lie.
11. What is your goal with the band?
Ultimate global domination.
12. What achievements have you earned as a band?
Well we've done quite a bit over the last couple of years, played with some bona fide musical legends, won some awards from some lovely people and best of all earned some absolutely fantastic fans, quite a few of whom we've met and may I say there's not an arsehole among them. Metaphorically speaking.
13. How has being in Tropical Contact affected you as an artist/musician?
I think I've become a better songwriter, it's been a necessity to do so to compete (in a healthy way) with Joe and Ed who write too and are both too good for their own good, which meant the music came from 3 different perspectives on the album we just put out.
I reckon that made it a bit more interesting to listen to hopefully. Performing live is changing for me too. It's always been a mixture of heaven and hell for me. After 17 years of playing in rock bands, getting onstage still freaks me out. I always get that 'at the front of the class in your underpants' feeling no matter what the circumstances and, as with every situation I find myself in in life, I don't know what the hell I'm doing at any given point. But the incomparable feeling you get when the band is onstage really nailing a song or a performance is the same feeling I used to get in a little room at home with my boys Richy and Ash Pears when we were practicing as kids in our first band and we came up with a song we knew was magic. That feeling is 99% of why I like doing this stuff so much. Anyway, the more often we perform the more enjoyable it is in a way, as you get to think more about your delivery and less about just not messing up, as you get to know the songs inside out. I think much of that may have been rambling. Chief - No way. That was pure soul.
14. What is one of your strongest beliefs (a mantra/religion/science etc)?
"When the clouds arrive we'll live on Ocean Drive" Chief - Love it. I might have to use that one a couple times.
Tumblr media
Thank you so much Ben, for sharing that with us, I genuinely mean it. It takes a lot of courage to go out there on stage and perform songs that you’ve written which have a deep and soulful meaning to yourself.
Sharing music with the world is not only for profit, or to take over, or to share a message - but for the soul of the musician to come out and play and love itself - and for a musician to show their true colours and energy. When a musician says they feel alive on stage - it’s because the energy they’re using is connected in the song and the stage is their catalyst to show their true meaning and demeanour.
I am honoured that you shared your story with us Ben - even if it is crazy that you were a drug dealer.
Check their Soundcloud from the link below. My personal favourite is ‘The show goes on’ The chorus sounds like ‘Way back into love’ from ‘Music and Lyrics’ with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore.

Make way - for M O S E S
For the best experience whilst reading this post and interview: Listen to their song “Low” throughout.
Tumblr media
On Friday the 5th of March at Barfly, Camden I watched M O S E S headline.
I was completely in shock when the lead singer opened his mouth and began to sing. The pitch of his voice like a super nova - bright, blinding and pure rock n roll. I was completely gobsmacked! I took to the front of the stage to start filming. The energy from the whole band was unreal - and the rapport Victor built with the crowd was incredible; a star in the making. The guitarist played eloquent solos, and the bassist slapped along rhythmically whilst, too, providing backing vocals alongside Juno. Matt hammered into the drums, song after song, and really put his all into the final few - surprisingly. Drumming is not just an art - but it is a sport - and as a drummer myself I know how hard it is to keep on going - especially for 30 minutes.
This band is insane!
Being completely star struck - I spoke to Victor quickly and asked what the name of the band was so I could follow up on them and hopefully get the opportunity to write a piece for them and share their talent with all of you - and prove to them, that I am their number 1 fan. And it worked!
Nearly 2 weeks later, I am sitting here - writing about a band whose’s songs I had on repeat in my head for nearly half of that time. They seem like loyal strangers - so amid the mist and haze of fame they’ll soon get - I am sure I won’t be forgotten and I am sure you won’t forget them. Hopefully they get shortlisted, from their long list wait in the ETC  (Emerging Talent Competition) and play at GLASTONBURY!!
Ladies and Gentlemen, Robots and Clones - I give you M O S E S:
