So today I learned that there’s a stereotype that Asians can’t drive?!? Is this my fault? Are my dumb headcanons the cause of this? I just said that Kim can’t drive because she gave me the most chaotic feral tall queen energy! I didn’t know I was playing into stereotypes! I didn’t even know this was a stereotype! Guess imma have to make Laura the worst driver. Then again, might be funny if Kim is a perfectly great driver, she just drivers chaotically when she’s with her friends because it’s fun to give them heart attacks.

Side Effects

Sexual abuse/assault lingers. It stays with you, weeks, months, even years after it’s over. Even when your abuser isn’t around, even if you’ve escaped, even when you’re free, even when you feel like you’ve forgotten, the pain can still stay, lurking in the back of your mind. 

We see everyone in the gang’s fear and anxiety while the abuse is occurring, but we rarely see those moments in which they are still being abused, but are away from their abuser, like during school or hanging out with friends. We don’t see the aftermath of the abuse/assault. We don’t see the signs or effects of the abuse/assault.

So here is a list. A “headcanon” list of what kinds of effects our main characters are experiencing, both the during and after.

During:

- Emilia started skipping school

- Lukas became more quiet and reserved

- Laura will sometimes just start crying whenever she’s alone

- Jon became better at hearing people’s footsteps and even telling them apart. He needs to be ready if someone comes up behind him

- Kim developed some body image issues

- Laura became more snippy and easy to annoy

- Lukas would sometimes stare out the window during class and occasionally just space out, even in the middle of a conversation

- Similarly to Lukas, Jon would stare out the window and space out a lot, but it was slightly less noticeable, more like he was daydreaming

- Kim lost a lot of sleep

- Emilia would have random panic attacks

- Whenever one of Jon’s co-workers would ask a question about his slightly weird interactions with AJ, he would laugh it off and change the subject

- Lukas would experience a lot more body pain than usual (take with that what you will), which made it harder to play baseball

After:

- Lukas stopped hugging people. He barely makes physical contact with people, and micro flinches every time someone touches him unexpectedly

- Kim still made TikToks, but with outfits that covered her skin more. She also stopped posting on Instagram for a little while, and doesn’t look at her comment section

- Jon doesn’t like being alone with one adult. He needs a second person there in order to keep from panicking

- Willow doesn’t like being alone with a stranger. She’s weary around strangers in general

- Emilia still feels nervous driving on the road her uncle drove her on

- Laura doesn’t like playing “Betrayal” anymore. It used to be her favorite video game, but now it’s just...ruined

- Willow hates when people tell her they are going one place, and then they take her to another

- Lukas doesn’t go to church anymore, and he’s started questioning his faith

- Emilia will have days where she just curls up in her bed and lies there for hours

- Willow has nightmares about the party

- Jon has only told two people about AJ and the kiss: Lukas and a co-worker named Emma

- Whenever sexual abuse is brought up, Lukas gets very, very quiet, and basically shuts down

- Laura sometimes has flashbacks to Andrew on top of her, kissing her

- Willow has a hard time trusting people. Then again, all of them do

- Kim is extremely cautious about what she says online or texts people, because someone could always use it against her

- Laura doesn’t like getting super (physically) close to her guy friends, subconciously worried that they’ll start touching her

- Jon is great at supporting his friends when they tell him that they’ve been sexually manipulated in some way. But when having broad conversations about grooming or workplace harassment or guys getting assaulted by women, he’ll suddenly appear really uncomfortable and his demeanor in a way that is noticeable to those who know him. If someone asks him what’s wrong, he’ll skirt around the issue like crazy

- Sometime Willow will get “randomly” angry or antisocial

- All of them are very cautious when it comes to relationships, and a few of them can get deeply uncomfortable when someone has a crush on them

Kim Headcanons

So I decided to make some headcanon posts for everyone in the squad because I can, and I’m doing Kim because she’s one of my favs and I love her. Some of them may be not as fun, but I felt the need to add them.

- As I implied in one of my other posts, Kim is “incapable of driving” (or is she?). She has her driver’s license, but no one knows how, because she is terrifying on the road. But here’s the thing that no one knows; she is a perfectly good driver, she just drives chaotically when her friends are in the car. This is due to the fact that she finds it funny. She can actually drive literally anything perfectly. But since none of her friends want to be in the car when she’s driving, she never has to be the driver, so she gets free rides all the time. Perfect planning. Willow will still go in anyways because she does not fear God nor death.

- Kim’s favorite ice cream flavor is mint chocolate and she and Will have argued over whether it’s good or not.

- After she and Kevin broke up, she filled her TikTok feed (she canonically has a TikTok account) with memes, and some people are slightly concerned. She’s coping in her own way.

- One of said memes was the “I need to cry but my foundation was 48 dollars” vine.

- Speaking of TikTok, she has 9,000 followers and mainly posts dance tiktoks, movie reviews, and random birds.

- As you can tell, she likes birds. Her favorite bird is the blue heron.

- She also likes movies, particularly mystery movies and psychological horror, but she will occasionally allow herself to enjoy a Marvel movie.

- Her favorite movie is either Knives Out or Murder on the Orient Express (it’s a good book, and a good movie!)

- Recently watched Turning Red and cried for about an hour because what a mood

- Cosplayed as Rei Ayanami for an anime convention Will dragged her to. Even though Kim doesn’t watch anime, she came because she wanted to support her friend. Legitimately likes the opening song and mecha designs though.

- Is Korean American

- Has three younger siblings: Ari (13, girl), Kija (10, boy), and Binna (5, girl)

- Low key rich???

- She really likes cooking with her mom, and they always make dinner together on the weekends

- Extremely extroverted and popular because of it

Emilia Headcanons

So I’m making headcanons for everyone in the squad, and I decided to start with Emilia because I have so many ideas for her. Not all of these headcanons are happy. Some of these are quite sad actually. But I decided to do them anyways.

- Probably bisexual but don’t realize it yet

- Her dad died when she was 11, which has had a big impact on her and her life

- Used to live in a different town, but moved halfway through freshman year because her mom was laid off, so her mom decided that would be easier to move closer to the rest of the family. That was hard, but things got easier eventually

- Met Maria in art club as a freshman. Maria introduced herself first, immediately shaking Emilia’s hand and showing her around the studio

- Dyed the bottom half of her hair purple in an act of teenage rebellion against her mom (in canon, she said that her and her mom fight a lot)

- Is into drawing, but has a strong love for pottery and other types of studio art similar to that

- Comes off as slightly standoffish around strangers, but once you get to know her, you quickly realize that she is a sweetheart

- My art does not capture her true personality that goes with my headcanons, and I’m sorry for that

- Can have a surprisingly dry and snarky sense of humor

- Shared a history class with Lukas where they sat next to each other, they did a group project together, and then proceeded to quickly become friends

- Gives me flute-player vibes, and I want her to be an art kid with ~variety~ - Collects stickers to put on her computer. Like, a lot of stickers. Like, it’s kind of an obsession

- Will always beat you at Just Dance

- Really good at random trivia

- Has a vintage bottle cap collection that she will never let go of

- Best class is history

- Does tennis sometimes

So I’ve been comparing the heights of everyone in the squad

And here’s what I’ve found.

In DLPEUaSA, at 0:59, Lucas, Laura, Andrew, and some other guy all standing next to or near each other.

We can see here that Laura is a lot shorter than Lucas, like, a LOT shorter. She is also a few inches short than some of the other people in this shot. We can conclude from this that she is pretty short. But, Lucas is also quite tall. He is at least a few inches taller than Andrew and that other guy, who I assume are average height, and this is while Lucas is slouching. Also, I want him to be tall. So we can conclude that Laura might be Short and Lucas is definitely Tall.

Now, in TaSA, Willow is standing next to Laura at 2:22.

This is at a slight angle, and if we do some measurements, we can assume that they are about the same height, making Willow also kinda short.

The next height comparison I found kinda surprised me. In DLPEUaSA, at 2:34, Lucas and Jon are standing next to each other at what we can assume are their full heights.

Jon appears to only be about an inch shorter than Lucas, and because Lucas is Tall, this might mean that Jon is Taller Than Average. This actually makes some sense, because when AJ kisses Jon in GaSA, we see that he is taller than her, and she seems to be a relatively average height. From this, I conclude that Jon is Somewhat Taller Than Average. This is unfair, as I use to assume he was very Short, or at least Pretty Short, maybe even the Shortest, causing me to draw him as such. He is also easier to draw when I pretend he is Short. I want him to be Short. So I will ignore canon and pretend he is Short or at least Somewhat Short.

But if we actually pay attention to canon and proceed to watch OSACH, then skip to the part where Jon is standing next to Kim, we see that Kim is actually WAY taller than Jon. Like, she makes him look short. And if Jon is only a bit shorter than Lucas while a lot shorter than Kim, we can probably conclude that Kim is taller than Lucas. And if we take the fact that Lucas is Tall, we can conclude that Kim is Really Tall. I was expecting her to be Tall, but not the Tallest, so this was a bit surprising. Nevertheless, good for her. Also, in half the shots she’s in, Kim is taller than everyone anyways. So yeah, my girl is Really Tall.

I don’t have a good reference for Emilia, but I like to think that she is just A Little Taller Than Average, but not quite Tall.

So yeah, those are what I believe to be everyone’s height differences. I will still pretend Jon is Short.
