Ah, he probably bothered her at a bad time. Still, there was really no way to make himself known without things getting a little awkward here or there. Yes, Reanne had told him to keep an eye out for her, but that didn't necessarily mean she told Vivian to keep an eye out for him in return. And it seemed that would be the case—this girl apparently knew nothing of him.
God, why was she like this? He almost wanted to death glare her nonexistent presence right now. She always told him to say 'hi' if he ran into her crowd but never bothered to let them know of his name or existence properly. Maybe it was her way of getting back at him for never bringing her up in conversation with his circle (not that he really had one as of late).
Tumblr media
❝ Well, she likes to introduce her friends to me, ❞ Keith explained as he subtly raised his eyebrows. Shifting the plastic bag he was holding by the arm to his working hand, the boy rerouted the conversation to introduce himself as it seemed Reanne really hadn't properly acquainted them (seriously, what was she doing?), ❝ and since she apparently didn't mention my name, I'm Keith. ❞
Note to self: refuse the next commission request that girl gives him even if she offers to pay double.
Tilting his head to the side, he briefly took in Vivian's appearance. She did carry a similar feel to Ophelia appearance-wise with a more simple and comfortable look, and Reanne got along with her as far as he knew, but—did she really get along with Vivian in the same way? Reanne was not the type to befriend many, but maybe the autopilot sounding talk of this girl was what helped her vibe so to speak? Honestly, why did he always have to question the people she somehow befriended? It was like some old habit that simply wouldn't die.
Partially folding his arms over each other as he committed her face to memory, he spoke a thought aloud, ❝ How did you two even meet anyway? For some reason, I doubt she would've approached you first. ❞

This is the look of a girl who still hasn't decided what to do with her life and her advisor has been pressuring her to pick a major. No wonder she's been avoiding re-enrolling in classes and shifted her part time job to full time while unofficially dropping college entirely.
❝ How the heck does anyone figure out what to major in? I have zero hobbies, and just because I find chemistry easy doesn't mean I should major in it. ❞ Hmmm, what if she pursued culinary school or something? Making good food is timeless.

When Dr. Starline became a prominent character I never actually learned the canon pronunciation of his name.
I said it like Dr. ‘Star-Lean’, and my friend Reann ridiculed me for it, because apparently it’s literally just Star-Line. But like. My version sounds way nicer. Fancier. Better. Like a real Doctor’s name. So I’m making a poll.

[long post imminent]
You may not know this, but magical girls are in at Onetoothpig Studios. I mean, there's Sailor Moon Month, my #justmagicalgirlthings tag, and not to mention the endless art that I find on my dash...
Well, I've been mulling it over, and I've decided:
I'm starting my own magical girl (NON-RAISING) project!
But before I introduce you to yet another wave of OCs, I should probably give a little backstory...
So, when I was a wee lad, no bigger than a fire hydrant, I used to watch this show called Magical Do-Re-Mi (which you might know as Ojamajo Do-Re-Mi). Well, I didn't really watch it per se - I really only saw little snippets of it - but it was a huge and crucial step into my first forays into the world of writing, as the show and its influence bled into everything I wrote.
So, I was looking back at some of the stuff I wrote when I was 6 or 7 years old, and I thought to myself: what if I took these characters (as well as some more from the annals of my memory) and turn them into magical girls? Full-circle kinda thing, y'know?
Now it's OC time. Or at least it will be once you dive under the cut...
Naraline
Real name: Zinco Melana
Age: 15
Zinco is a cheerful and bubbly girl. Moving into a new neighborhood and a new school, Zinco aims to come out of her shell and make friends. After a rough day at school, she is attacked by a monster - and there she finds Ceres, a fairy, who gives Zinco a small orange gem, allowing her to transform into Naraline.
Dev Notes: Zinco is one of the characters who appeared frequently in my older works. She was inspired by Hazuki/Reanne (the orange girl) from Do-Re-Mi. In keeping with her earlier portrayals, I decided to give her a peppy personality. She's the main character now, though, instead of being a deuteragonist.
Nightshade
Real Name: Modeloo Fericon
Age: 15
From the outside, Modeloo seems like a tough-talking, no-nonsense tomboy. That prickly exterior belies a heart of gold, however, and she does her best to protect those who cannot protect themselves. She can be very headstrong, however, which often lands her in trouble. Good thing the rest of the team is there to keep her in check when she's on the prowl as Nightshade!
Dev Notes: Some of my stories actually had Modeloo as a villain, but in her absolute earliest appearances she was a regular, neutral-aligned character. For her modern appearance, I went with a "chaotic good" sort of thing, and took a little inspiration from Sailor Jupiter and other strong characters that protect innocent people. Her original Do-Re-Mi inspiration was Aiko/Mirabelle (the blue one).
Hielle
Real Name: Marita Evien
Age: 16
Silver-haired Marita is what you'd call an achiever. She's most always at the top of her class, and has many academic accolades under her belt. But behind all the good grades lies an overly pressured youth, sometimes overpushing herself to keep up her image. Fortunately, she has a friend group she can really be herself around, and her smarts, as well as her passion for ice skating, certainly give the team the upper hand as Hielle.
Dev Notes: Marita is the final character listed here that hails from my ancient literature. In her initial appearances, she was a baby for some reason, but she was aged up a tad later on. Knowing this, I decided to age her up again to a teenager. She (and the rest of the characters featured here) isn't based on or inspired by any existing characters.
Whispuff
Real Name: Daphne Starling
Age: 14
For as long as she could remember, there were things Daphne could just... sense. She could feel energies that most other people couldn't. While this scared her at first, it soon became a sign to her that she was destined for something great. That feeling was realized when a talking fish named Pasha came to her in a dream. Pasha explained that her mother, Alina, used to be a magical girl herself, and Daphne's ability was a premonition of her destiny. Ever the eager beaver, Daphne readily agreed to carry on her mother's legacy as Whispuff. She might be a little too idealistic sometimes, and hates it when things don't go as planned, but don't count her out - the power of dreams she wields is exceptionally potent!
Dev Notes: Okay, so you're probably wondering what the heck is up with the dream theming, right? Well, Daphne herself actually comes from a dream I had once. I pretty much saw one single image of her there, and she was in a purple Propeller Suit from New Super Mario Bros. Wii for some reason, so I didn't get much of what she looked like. Alina's pretty much the same story - I heard her name in a dream somewhere and just had to use it.
Ventanna
Real Name: Gail Knott
Age: 15
Gail always saw herself as pretty unremarkable. She wasn't good at much, and she wasn't bad at much, she was just... average. Even worse, she didn't really fit in with everyone else, so she tried not to draw any attention to herself. She still longed to talk to people, though, and so one day she summoned up her courage and struck up a conversation with Zinco. Having experienced similar social struggles, the two became fast friends, and Zinco introduced her to the rest, who readily accepted her. As Ventanna, she has the power to control wind, a power she still needs to try and control...
Dev Notes: Gail is pretty much a one-off character that I had knocking around in my head for all of a single night. Her original concept was that she caused powerful winds whenever she said her name, so I kinda adapted that into it being a power she is yet to tame.
And the last one:
Paraguava
Real Name: Jacqueline Beaufor
Age: 16
If there was one thing that Jacqueline loved more than anything else, it was taking out a bunch of parts and building something with them. As her rich father owned a technology firm, she fell in love with machines. She was, unfortunately, locked out of her passion due to her being taught to be "proper" from a young age. But when people try to control an outcome, fate can often fight back harder. Using all the knowledge she had stored up reading engineering textbooks and manuals in secret - along with the help of Gear, her newfound fairy companion - she was ready to put her passions to the battlefield as the umbrella-wielding Paraguava!
Dev Notes: Ah, Jacqueline. Jacqueline had a pretty raw deal, much like Gail. Pretty much her only character trait was that she had an umbrella, so I had some serious fleshing out to do - and some differentiating from Daphne because in my head they were pretty similar.
And... that's pretty much all of them! Now what do I call this project...
Ooh! Since they're from past memories, how about...
Mempa Magi
Yeah, it's a cheesy title, but it'll do for now.
And that's my newest batch of OCs and my brand-new magical girl project! I'll flesh it out and tell you more as I go along, but this should be satisfactory. Hope you all like it - this has been stirring in my brain for months on end!
And yes, I will be adding this to my pinned post, so look out for that.
mutual tag time. @klugpuuo @fluffernauto

Reanne had somehow managed to remember a special occasion today—it was a friend's birthday! And of course, she had gotten things prepared nicely. Having packed a mini chocolate cheesecake into a very festive and birthday themed gift bag, the pigtailed girl was more than happy to greet her friend with a wide smile, ❝ Vivian! Happy birthday!! ❞ In addition to the cake she had gotten, there was a little acrylic standee of Tyril (was that his name?) from that otome game she hadn't played yet (but it was the same character featured on the keychain Vivian gifted her around the time they first met) packed neatly in the bag too.
Tumblr media
VIVIAN'S BIRTHDAY BASH. always accepting no matter how late!
Tumblr media
Frankly speaking, Vivian wasn't expecting Reanne to actually remember her birthday, so when she presented her with a fancy gift bag over by the bus stop they had both agreed to meet at, her face would immediately light up.
Tumblr media
"Wow, for me? Thank you so much, Riri!" Vivian soon clasps her hands together before eagerly prying the bag out of her hands. Honestly enough, it was merely the thought itself that counted, to the point where Reanne could have gifted her olive oil and she would have been pleased to no end.
"Not gonna lie, I didn't think you would actually get me anything... but I guess there's a reason people call stuff like this a 'surprise', huh?" Vivian then rambles while chancing a glance down towards the contents of the bag. Granted, chocolate wasn't her absolutely favourite flavor or anything, but it was still cheesecake; therefore, she doesn't doubt it would taste good! Besides, Reanne had also gotten her a Tyril standee acrylic, so even if the cheesecake failed to match her non-picky standards, she would at least have that to decorate her room.
"Oh man, I hope I won't end up dropping this cake on my way back home," Vivian finally sweat-drops upon realizing she had to be extra careful when it came to carrying around Reanne's gift. "Kinda makes me wish we were over at the food court again. That way, I could just eat this right away and not have to worry about the limitation of only having two hands."

I usually like writing guy characters so I hardly have female ocs I acknowledge outside Reanne and Larisa. I was hoping to draw more female oc content but it turns out I’m doing the same as writing: drawing more guys and spotlighting Reanne and Larisa every so often 😂

Nothing like reconnecting with someone you haven't seen in 10+ years and finding out that they're making cool visual novels these days! Really enjoyed the Amarantus demo; it slam-dunks you right into being a wee guy whose parents get violently arrested and decides he needs to fight the ruling lord about it. The answer to the question in the image is "because someone needs to do something, and we're someone", which is one of my favourite character motivations. The writing is really good, full of character, and I LOVE the character designs--it's hard to see but Mireille, on the far right, uses a cane, and you can actually hear it in her footsteps when she moves! As someone who uses a crutch sometimes, I LOVE the world put into integrating that in her design, and as someone whose hearing is shit garbage, the accessibility options to control the speed of text and add subtitles for sound effects are :chefs_kiss:. There's no voice acting but the sound effects and animation to the character portraits are GREAT.
No release date at the moment but the demo on steam is a good time, and there's already a few different routes to explore just for the first wee bit of the game--I think all four people in the image (The Major, a stoic mercenary; Reann, a feral street rat with a knife with whom I am in love; Márius, chaotic but loyal rich boy; and Mireille, Márius' sister who is very much in charge here) are romanceable, but the flavour text also mentions wingmanning, so presumably you can help them romance each other if you don't want to do it yourself! (I'm already shipping Mireille and the Major tbh)

Let’s talk about Reann a bit! She started as my player character in FF14 but she’s grown into her own as I’ve played as her in other games and drawn her more and more. She’s a kind soul, down for anything, not too bright, good with kids, likes to help others but wouldn’t consider herself a hero. She works as a lifeguard, more on that in some other post. Someday I wanna make a video game and she’ll be our protagonist.
In her world, most everyone’s got some sort of special ability, and hers is Shapeshifting. She can take on whatever shape she wants, but her colors still stay the same. She could even just shift the colors around her base form if she so wanted. Since the colors are always the same, anyone who knows her pretty much can tell it’s her right away, so it’s not great for a disguise.
Staying a dramatically larger or smaller size starts to give her a headache after a while, maybe after an hour or two. She’s empty on the inside, so she can keep all that stuff a video game protag may carry around inside her head or her torso. If you were to flip her head back like a PEZ dispenser, the pool noodle would pop out.
I’d like to make breathing underwater not an issue in that game someday, so she can take the form of a fish or a mermaid or a small little submarine just fine, but she does not gain the powers of the form she takes, so no Sonic speed. She can’t fly either. She’s tried, but all she can do is slow her descent by forming a parachute or gliding like a paper airplane.
Her glasses, wrist band and necklace aren’t part of her form, but the clothing is. She mostly uses shapeshifting for mobility and her pool noodle for combat, should anything happen someday. I think that about covers it. I tried to balance it around what her gameplay could eventually be someday. Not overpowered, but flexible enough that I can have some fun with it. I can’t make up my mind if it should be this 3D platformer where you explore this island and just chill out doing whatever fun thing you want on the beach, or a 2D Not-Sonic like Freedom Planet or Spark the Electric Jester. I hope you all like her!

The Windfinder stared her up and down, frowning. “You’re wet,” she said as though just noticing. “It is very bad to be wet for long in your condition. You should change your clothes right away.”
Elayne threw back her head and screamed as loudly as she could, a howl of pure outrage and fury. She screamed until her lungs were empty, leaving her panting.
you ever think about how much pent up rage and energy elayne has and how great it would be to see her go off. and then canon comes through and lets her scream to her hearts content <3

Reanne paused and wryly smiled as Vivian double-checked whether she would continue playing. She didn't have the heart to lie, but she didn't want to let her down either. After all, it'd be awful if she lost this chance to make a new female friend because she didn't want to play a simple game that was mostly reading. There was always the option of pressing the buttons and checking out while she played right?
Wait a second—this was so unlike her! Normally she would've been blunt about not liking this sort of thing! Was she that desperate for interaction that she became meek? Urgh, that was a pitifully disgusting thought. Now—she imagined herself slapping her cheeks as a form of psyching herself up—she had to reset! There was nothing wrong with stating her opinions! If she'd rather use the little time she had playing a different game, it was still valid!
Tumblr media
❝ Eh, to be honest, I'm not really vibing with that one, Code: Realize. The heroine isn't clicking with me. The no touch thing ruins my soul, ❞ she began to explain, awkwardly laughing as she tossed a pigtail behind her shoulder, ❝ I mean, I live off physical touch. If the point of an otome game is for the player to live out an ideal romance, I need tons of physical affection in it—a fiery, bold protagonist too. ❞ This title was supposedly the best one to try when starting out with the genre, and now she was wondering if she would truly enjoy it like Vivian would if this basic starter game was something she would categorize the same as all the shoujo manga she used to read.
The girl went wide-eyed for a moment at the nickname suddenly bestowed upon her. Riri? Who the fuck was that? It took a couple seconds for the dots to click, and only then did Reanne find herself wondering if trying to befriend Vivian was a mistake. Weren't they a bit too different here? How was she supposed to feel having her name shortened to these weird phonemes that sounded nothing like her name at all? Her name.... AHHHHHH!
Still, it wasn't like her to give up at all. She'd make it work out somehow. Even if her younger self could last without true friends, the her of today could not—and so she wouldn't try to cut this bond before it had a chance to sprout and grow. Not to mention, her therapist did say more people in her social circle might help with certain impulse responses.
Reanne smiled in relief hearing Vivian's reassurance about the keychain. At least this was just an extra copy. That was good. She carefully stowed it away in her cardigan pocket, keeping her hand there to ensure it was kept securely. While she didn't catch the meaning of this 'yumejoshi' term, she wouldn't say anything about it. It seemed the other girl was sort of in her own world right now and the Reanne was not about to burst her bubble.
Tumblr media
❝ You got something different to recommend that I might enjoy more? I'll return Code: Realize and that other one you gave me next time we run into each other, ❞ she interjected to steer the conversation something back to something she could actually reply to, ❝ and also—just call me by name. I hate nicknames. They kill me inside. ❞

Running into this guy again was not an encounter he expected at the entrance to the local grocery store. Keith was just about to head in to pick up the week’s groceries and he had found himself running into the guy an acquaintance (they weren’t exactly friends?) had been talking about lately. By the amount she spoke of him, Keith himself may as well know him nearly as well as she did—or at least the idealized version the girl had painted in her head. She was quick to put on that rose-tinted filter after all.
Tumblr media
❝ You—You’re that guy Reanne keeps talking about, ❞ he blurted his thoughts out loud. And wasn’t he the guy who caught him painting at the park too? ❝ I didn’t think you lived around here considering your university isn’t too close by?? ❞ Wait, did she ever tell him what school she managed to get into? Somehow, he doubted it.

Someone could write an epic Reann Tomvig/Moreena Krai slow burn fic, about each of them adapting to life on Alderaan (along with Reann kind of, sort of, being a fugitive).
...unfortunately, I doubt that person will be me, since I’m utter pants at sticking with any projects!

With a glimmer in her eye filled with excitement, Reanne was eager to share about her experience playing the new recommendations Vivian had suggested to her. It was not a stretch to say she had binge read both the titles that encompassed the Collar x Malice world over the winter holidays, and she was visibly eager to share just how much she enjoyed it. Almost buzzing in her place, she plopped the games to her friend's hands and began her spiel, ❝ I finally played them. It was actually more enjoyable than I thought. Sure, I didn't like half the guys or their romances, but I was still so engaged with the whole plot line. All the tension kept me on the edge of my seat! Still, I wish I could romance that Chisato guy from the sequel. I dunno what it is but I wanted to flirt with him so bad, and yet the answer choices were so CRUEL by not allowing me to! Honestly, I liked the bonus routes we got more than the main guys. Hideyoshi was so precious and he really should've been a main route— ❞
Tumblr media
          UNPROMPTED ASKS. » always accepting!

As soon as Reanne plopped the games into her hands, Vivian would stare back at her rather expectantly, for judging from the excited gleam in her eyes, she can only assume she must have played it through to the end... and it turns out Vivian was right, because the next thing she knew, Reanne subsequently began excitedly yammering about the game.
Of course, she hadn't expected her to like all the love interests, but knowing the plot lines and characters at least drew her in was enough to make her face eventually brighten with an exuberant smile.
Tumblr media
"Oh, thank goodness you enjoyed it! Why, on the off chance you didn't, I was ready to propel myself to the moon and curse myself for presumptuously recommending a game you didn't like," she finally exclaims after Reanne finishes her lengthy review. "But it seems I do not have to resign myself to that unfortunate fate after all! Either way, I shall gladly take note of your infatuation with Chisato."
Sure enough, Vivian would then nod repeatedly, allowing a mischievous grin to spread it's way across her lips. Naturally, she doesn't bother telling Reanne what she had in store for her, because if she did, that would only manage to ruin her birthday surprise... which was something she didn't want. "And yeah, those bonus routes were definitely a nice touch!" Vivian goes on to acknowledge. "Aside from Chisato or Hideyoshi, though, do you happen to have other characters you're partial to?"
