Splatoon Fun (headcanon) Fact!!!:
A small underrated aspect of weapon design is ink density. It's what dictate how much damage a weapon does. The difference between a .52 Gal and a .96 Gal, which references how it is measured: Percent of ink inside of a Gallon ink tank.
While heavily regulated in Inkbattles via watering down for balance sake and to prevent instant splats, most weapons made for non-inkbattle purposes, like Salmon Runs, have much denser ink than their civilian counterparts and thus higher damage per second. If one were to modify their weapons to be as strong as possible, you would think higher is better right? Wrong. Like all things, there are pros and cons to high density and low density.
First is tech, do you have the equipment to create H.D Ink? Does your weapon even have the ability to handle higher densities? If one were to force the wrong type into the wrong weapon, it ends up malfunctioning due to improper channels or it simply being too weak to shoot the heavier ink. Putting .90 Gal ink inside a Splattershot Jr. is a sure way of causing it's range to drop down to a leaky faucet.
Second, it increases the weight of the ink. It might be the difference between outswimming a bomb, to being able to refill a second faster, perhaps even making the weapon impossible to steadily aim due to its weight. Of course the reverse is also true on lighter densities at the cost of damage.
Third, cost on the body. As you expect if a user is constantly using all that fluid it's easy for them to get dehydrated much quicker than Inkbattle weapons and potentially faint. In wartime its considered better to have separate disposable bottles for dense ink specifically so it avoids its lengthy refill time and toll on the soldier's body.

*Note: If you mained this weapon in Splatoon 1 or 2 but not Splatoon 3 do not vote yes. Splatoon 1 and 2 versions of weapon kits will be out eventually

Part 2 of my Weapon AU
Master Post
Time for the gals! Both ladies have strabismus (eyes don't align properly). They're a tough duo who went through a lot growing up. Along the way they learned martial arts. Because of their brash attitudes they can come across a bit like bullies but once you get to know them they're pretty cool.
More Trivia!
52 has a do-or-die attitude that causes frequent headaches for her older sister. She's outgoing, loud and smarter than people think. A huge fan of Off the Hook, she owns all the albums and is the bassist of a local band.
96 is the mature sister. She's an odd combination of loving social life but tiring of people quickly. Not one to initiate a conversation, she's content to observe others. 96 is an avid gamer, whether that's cards or video games. Likes beating the odds.

Weapon Predictions Part 1 - Shooters
Just going in order of Inkipedia's main weapon list, there are 4 shooters without alternate kits as of posting this. Here are some of my thoughts on what could be a feasible kit for each.
.52 Gal Deco
Tumblr media
The .52 Gals have always been a force to be reckoned with and are usually annoying as can be to deal with. While S1's Deco did have Inkstrike as a special, I think as of right now adding more Triple Inkstrikes into the mix would be a nightmare. So, I've paired it with Reefslider to be just about as annoying and also calls back to the .96 Gal's Splashdown of S2. It has Point Sensor because I feel like the high power weapons with fun specials always get *fart with reverb* subs. If it had to have a bomb I would say Autobomb is appropriate.
H-3 Nozzlenose D
Tumblr media
If you're someone who uses these weapons, godspeed because they make me want to chew rocks. I don't have much of a reason for why I paired these with the H-3 other than the Nozzlenoses tend to be more ~meta~ and so challenging yet effective sub and special on it made sense to me. I could see it also having Trizooka calling back to S1 but I'm hoping Nintendo will branch out more from the 4 or 5 specials it seems to really favor at the moment.
Foil Squeezer
Tumblr media
The Squeezers are weird weapons. Those who are skilled with them can make them extremely lethal but I feel like the average player tends to struggle to use them well. I figured Crab Tank was a fair balance between something to give it a bit more aggression for casual players while also being decent for competitive play. We'll miss you Bubble Blower.
Neo Splattershot Nova
Tumblr media
This sad thing needs help so bad. I think it would be very goofy of them to give it Tenta Missiles- if any shooter were to have it, give it to the sucky one for a laugh. I think this would make its potential to be lethal much greater and Angle Shooter allows for even more cheese. Perhaps this is wishful thinking, however. Personally, I think Missiles have been taken down a notch enough now that more weapons ought to have them. Compared to the constant bombardment of Killer Wails, their place as the most annoying special has been usurped.
Feel free to let me know what you think about these, I'm sure some of you will have strong opinions for better or worse lol. Next up will be rollers and brushes.
