27th Monster Hunter 3D-Print: Grand Appreciation Figure Replica (1:5)

This figure (and the table) is a replica of a free figure DLC that you can put in your house in the game.

It took a year and a half since I first started this project. I didn't think about painting at all back then but I eventually learned to and painted it all by myself a year later. It's almost the 6th anniversary at the time of completion.

It's far from perfect (I hid most imperfections with photography magic) but still the piece I'm most proud of so far.

I couldn't sleep so now the Men Shen MS1-O is ready to cause problems. I'm getting a bit better at the squad markings- a friend of mine who actually knows how to read Chinese suggested I look up a stroke guide for the characters I was using instead of just trying to copy off of Wikipedia. I probably should've figured that out a bit sooner :/

My completed Sister of Battle "mini" debuted with a base at DragonCon this year! My first armor and foam prop build - entirely self patterned and constructed. My King Slime has been benched for a while because of several crown printing mishaps. I wanted to paint him in the color scheme of the Strain in WildStar.

Helldivers 2 is pretty great. I'm a really big fan of (Verhoevan) Starship Troopers, and I feel like I could write a whole essay about how "seen" I feel with this game. I do love that this game has resurrected the old discourse about the film, some things never change

Painted a cute little goblin squire :3

Not much to say about this one, just a quick fun paintjob I did in a night. Trying to get back to painting more regularly, and this is a good step in that direction!

One note for myself is that I think I went a little too dark with the darkest green. Or possibly didn't shade lighter tones across enough of the mini. Particularly the tail I think is a tad too dark for a lot of its surface. I was trying to push my dark/light contrast a bit more, but I think I overcorrected. Something to experiment more with though, because I do love some places with that darker green.

Finally painted something again, and finished it today! She's a displacer beast with a butterfly suit, seemingly based on Dirlagraun. I sadly cannot keep her, as she's a gift for a friend. Let me know what you think!
