What Are You Allowing?

I want to challenge you today with this thought. I want you to think about the areas of lack in your life and consider that you have either cause those or allow those to happen. This kinda thinking will EMPOWER you with a sense of responsibility for your life. If we are willing to look at our life's deficiency and say, “I have caused and allowed this to happen” we can begin to take the RESPONSIBILITY to fix. We are all our own worst enemy but we are also the solution. Here is the reality, you are the problem but you are also the SOLUTION.

At 35 years old I begin to look at my life in poverty, in the 9-5 grind, making 36,000 a year, living in a trailer park, 100 lbs overweight, drinking every night, and marriage falling apart and had no one to blame but myself. I looked at every circumstance of my life and said, “I have caused or allowed this to happen.”

If I was the one who caused my life to be this way then I was truly the source of my pain. There were certain choices and actions that produced certain effects on my life. I made the decisions that led to my dysfunctional life. If I had made good decisions then I most likely would have had better outcomes. Maybe you can relate? Have you brought many painful situations upon yourself?

Now, this is a very hard pill for some to swallow. Many men point to something or someone else for the cause of their life's dysfunction. Maybe the loss of a job, wife, child, and house. But we as men all suffer loss, we are therefore responsible on how we respond to that loss. Many times we can experience a traumatic event as a man and therefore come to the conclusion that it's not our fault. Many time we remain stuck and we choose not to heal therefore the responsibility falls once again back on us. We often allow our pain to continue needlessly simply by the decisions we make.

What areas of your life are causing you to be frustrated and angry all the time? How have you caused or allow this to happen? Think about this for a moment. If someone came over to my house and knocked on my door, and requested to enter my home, I can decide whether I want to let them in or not. If I let this person in my home than I have given them permission and authorization to enter my home. We do the same thing in every area of our life.

We allow pain, chaos, jealousy, poverty, sickness to enter into our lives. Instead of denying access to our lives we open ourselves up to it. We make choices and decision that bring these things into our lives. Its time to man up today and recognize that you have been reaping the seeds you have been sowing. Its time to rise up and begin to deny these things access to our lives. It all starts by beginning to make better choices.

What things are you no longer going to tolerate to be in your life? It could be…

The poverty you have been experiencing

The intimacy you have been lacking

The health that has been depleting

The children that have been neglected

The soul that has been starving

Stand up proclaim you are no longer going to permit these things in your life. The victim mindset has to go. Stop allowing yourself to make excuses for the way your life has turned out.
