tbh i’m disappointed that the ctan are just half naked muscly dudes. like they could’v been cool eldritch robotic abominations but nah. Only the void dragon comes remotely close to what I was imagining
The Ctan Shard of the Void Dragon. Done on commission for a local friend. I used a combination of color shifting metallic paints, dark metallic, the blackest black paint, and heavy object source lighting to get a visually stunning result in a quick turn-around time. Keep an eye out for the video tomorrow!
After practicing getting smooth applications on an old Nightscythe, I chose the Transcendent Ctan as my first air brush project. I'm really happy with the gradients I achieved!
Life is better when we care for one another.

Hi! Wanted to ask you about Necron's oculars. Why some of them have only one, and others have two (or even more)? Do they talk about it somewhere in the lore? Usually crypteks and deathmarks have only one, if I remember correctly, right? (Also sorry for resub, fat fingers lmao)
I don't know if there's an official lore explanation! (if there is, someone chime in) But you are right, it's generally crypteks, their cryptothralls, and deathmarks that have the monocular (deathmarks can have sets of little eyes too, but that single main ocular is the most common design). With multiple eyes, I believe it is only destroyers and some deathmarks that have that. That one is probably because destroyers have modified their bodies solely to terrorize and kill, and multiple eyes certainly fits that brief. Some deathmarks might have followed suit. Better aim, surveying the battlefield, etc.
Now I do have a headcanon about the monocular for crypteks/deathmarks. Both are a class in necron society that is useful to the nobility but not part of the nobility. Every empire needs scientists and assassins! But you don't want them getting uppity. A single, alien eye permanently marks them as other. Even though they are by necessity just as sentient as a lord (a braindead cryptek is not super helpful) it will always be obvious what their status is (and more importantly what it isn't).
Boom, brought a simple, unrelated question back around to class dynamics! This is my superpower.
