ok but lets give kolk her due for not only being t.abaluga's mama , but also a genuinely fun background character for me to think about .

she's the old witch of the mountains , lots of baba yaga vibes . unlike the wise owl and the gentle sea turtle , kolk is loud , crude , and full of tricks . her nest has grown impressive with the trinkets she collects for-- whatever reasons nobody dare asks-- she isn't above spitting curses from her long , clicking beak , openly mocking entities more powerful than her , or threatening to take a piece of someone in exchange for a bargain or for simply irritating her . really capitalizing on that ' bad omen' schtick , huh ?

but kolk isn't always unpleasant company . she's quite close to nessaja and souhoo , and has been a midwife to many birds and beasts alike . she knows what herbs to use for sickness and genuinely cares for her homeland-- just not always for the folks who inhabit it . she's known to be grateful , helpful , and good humored . the residents do renovate her for her wisdom and magical knowledge ( particularly those aligned with superstition ) , but most know better than to attempt to get on her bad side .

which is why it's a shock that she took on the little dragon hatchling , let alone nested him properly and lovingly . thing is , nobody expected it . not even a.rktos , and for all the creatures of paradise are concerned-- the guy knows everything .

I love crows, corvids of all kinds tbh

crows are very smart , and there are some instances where people have crows giving them things

I definitely see Chuuya giving you shiny things, especially if you already tend to collect things. You always pet his hair and thank him so nicely when he does it, he just HAS to give you every cool thing he finds

crows courting rituals are fascinating; they sing softly to their mate, and they do a lot of cool areal tricks & normal bird "hey look at me im impressive" thingz

I dont know if reader unknowingly accepting him as a mate when he starts courting is funnier , or reader who knows damn well what he's doing and accepts him

Crow Chuuya my beloved <3 crows are so smart and social, they have families, they use tools, they remember each other and humans being kind or mean, they even play!!

Of course Chuuya would gift you things regardless of him being an avian or not, but if he is then his gifts tend to be very shiny and impulsive. Cute jewellery is very common, for example. Or trinkets and figurines! He loves seeing his gifts on display, like a confirmation that you accept his advances. He'd love to court you with a mixture of crow and human ways, singing to you and holding your hand, cuddling you and combing your hair like you do his wings, showing off or trying to be impressive to make you see he's strong and dependable. After confiding in Gale that he was afraid of his own uncontrollable actions, the two grew closer as they endeavoured to keep one another safe.

After a series of notorious scandals, Corvid’s disobedience became too great for the family name to bear. He was cast out, took up a new name for himself and set about using his arcane talents for personal gain and petty criminal acts.

Corvid was taken from the roadside as the nautiloid swept across Waterdeep, where he had been lying in wait as a highwayman to ambush passing travellers. He isn’t sure if he wants to go home, as the family he has found since are the first people to care about him in his entire life.

2. How do know its you that's out? What are your usual cues?

Hmm, I have a rather distinct sense of being properly "here" in executive control. I tend to stay in the background and allow others control of our body, so I am...less familiar with piloting it personally. As a result I tend to breathe much slower and deeper than the others, as I am consciously taking each breath. I am generally more physically aware while out, something that results in being more physically affectionate with my loved ones. I also feel a constant glowing warmth in my heart, which I associate with feeling love.

When fully present, I never feel fully myself unless I have @sundropglass in my wings. I always feel the need to be close to one of my beloved Flowers or Docile.

4. What sort of aesthetics do you draw to?

The tranquility of a still, quiet night. Warm, enveloping shadows. The soft brush of corvid wings, the molten gold of a predator's eyes. Rich black velvet embroidered with elegant scrolling. Candlelight in the darkness. Roses and thorns peeking through feathers. Monsters that are ancient, wise, and gentle despite what they've endured.

6. What sort of emotions do you feel mostly when you’re out?

Overwhelming love and tenderness, primarily. I am driven by the need to soothe and comfort; with my loved ones, this is easily assuaged by holding them close and speaking lovingly to them. When I am negatively triggered out by the distress of other people, it can become a sharply painful need, a fawning that defies all reasonable limits.

Hi!!! I love your questions and your kind words, you always manage to brighten my day and make everything a little softer 💛 thank you so much Anni

Heres some animals that are not bunnies we identify with/like a whole lot:

- 🐻 bears! Bears have always been a favorite of mine, both in big scary beastie and little soft teddy form! It’s not something I’d been able to express until my adulthood because while My Animal was Bunnies, my closest sibling’s was Bears, and therefore I could Not Have That. It became more okay because said sibling relates to other animals nowadays

Anyway, Dosy(as the oc) liking bears was always a trait of hers because shes always been like a mama bear to all the other robots. The main Dosy is named Dosybear for her protective and soft tendencies

- Birdies 🕊️ (songbirds, chickens and crows) I LOVE bird watching, and bird feeding, and supporting Birds because I love them so so much. If you ever ask me if I want to see a bird, my answer is YES! Birdy Belle got her name because she absolutely loves watching birds so much and narrating the possible bird drama to anyone who will hear it

Chickens because I have a strong affinity for farm animals and I raised chicks as a very small child and also a couple of flocks of them later in life. There is little more wonderful than petting a chicken until she tips over in your lap and you both take a nap in the sunshine. Hail, Dosy and the littles have all always loved chickens

Crows because my beloveds take the form of Corvids in my stories to watch over all the forms of me <3 R’s “evil” crow self owns the Docile and all robot parts and it feels very secure. Mal takes form of a raven to watch over Princess Rose/the Flower parts!

- cats/tigers 🐯 we were born in the year of the Tiger and my birthday makes me a Lion(Leo). I used to not like that idea at all but really embraced the identity in teenagehood when Taiga emerged. I also used to rp a tiger girl and she’ll always be close to my heart. I also just think tigers are really neat!

There has been some thought about a nonhuman part that’s a nonspeaking cat, too. I can’t tell if it’s just a side of Taiga or what, they only ever take form to pester R so yknow.. hesitant to make any claims.

I’ve also just always adored cats, both my late Penny and earlier Anika, my affectionate and pretty little ladies

- sheep 🐑 This is mostly just an OC thing, because one of my favorite lore worlds with R is our demonic sheep people and the lives they lead. I just love sheep though too, something something ancient-feeling ties to both farm animals and church themes

- wolfs 🐺 While I don’t feel hugely connected to wolves that much, we do have a couple of werewolf parts so it would be silly not to include them (Cerberus and Percy)

- Seaslugs that look like bunnies 🐠 While they are not bunnies, they may as well be. Mossballs also fall under this category but they are not bunnies or even animals at all

Also under the underwater category, we have a part who loves Angelfish, and Hidey really loves Sea Angels

- bees 🐝 I had a phase where I was just obsessed with bees and learning all about them. Same thing with frogs? I don’t really remember it and it was really hugely a Taiga hosting thing I think. I do love bees still but I don’t seek out aesthetics with them because insects are too much of a trigger for me. I do have a lot of bee-themed things though that are very cottagecore

Sorry, I should've said this a lot earlier, but I didn't for some reason. I sent an ask (can't find it now, sorry - probably within the last... 3-4 months at most, I think?), and you "answered" it, but it didn't really answer my question. Sorry, I don't mean to be rude! I'm just saying. My question was this: I would like to headcanon that Crane has both a pet crow and a phobia of crows. Would it be unrealistic for someone with a phobia of crows to have one as a beloved pet/sidekick?

Oh man, I remember that! Sorry I didn't give a good answer, sometimes I get sidetracked.

My personal Headcanon takes place in the Year One verse, and I always assumed the phobia was slowly overcome. As later in his career and other unrelated comics, Scarecrow has a corvid companion. But, I quite liked the idea that he was afraid of them, and perhaps spent his years after "year one" overcoming that phobia. Maybe he visited birds at zoos, and read about them in books. As the kids saying goes, Knowledge is power! Perhaps he learns to train them for his own deeds, as seen in Joker 8. Maybe it takes time, but I honestly believe if anyone is going to conquer their fears, it's him.

I don't think this is unrealistic at all, it adds depth to his character!
