DIY Bat Shoe Wings made with duct tape, scissors, white pen, and pen knife.
Make a big sheet of duct tape by laying it out and making sure the creases face different ways so its less flimsy.
Then use white pen to draw out your bat wings template. Use your shoes to mark out the holes. Then cut out the holes with a pen knife and check if they fit. Wipe off pen with a lil acetone and qtip. Lace onto your shoes and ur good to go!

I added a water bottle pocket to my pants!
This came up due to the fact I use Lyft bikes to get around and they don't have bottle holders, so I placed this pocket here because this part of my leg remains relatively upright while pedaling.
Heres the initial proof of concept
Tumblr media
But it looked rather silly especially when not in use. It also flopped around a lot when a full drink is being held and I was walking around so I started to look into ways to collapse it and secure it when in use.
First attempt came up with this:
Tumblr media
Which looks nice, but wouldn't help restrain the movement of the pocket with a bottle in it.
So I moved to this belt design, using straps I had designed for the pants in an earlier iteration.

And it works like a charm.
Holds the bottle in place, is easy to fold away, and looks nice in use.
Though not sure I like the red and might switch to black straps but I'd love to hear all your thoughts and possible improvements!

if you haven’t at least tried sewing or crocheting or knitting your own clothes, you really should. even if it’s just one time and you never do it again, i really think everyone should do it at least once
learning how to crochet was what finally made me grasp the abject horror of the fast fashion industry and realize just how laborious and time consuming it is. i have to take a few days off a week so my back/wrists don’t get sore — and i get to do this as a leisure activity in the comfort of my own home, rather than in a sweatshop. it takes dozens of hours to produce a single item. there is just something about trying it yourself that makes you realize just how little the people making our clothes are being paid for retailers to be able to sell clothes at such obscenely low prices.
i understood in the abstract that people were earning literal slave wages to make my clothes, but that concept wasn’t real to me in a way i could understand until i spent 14 hours making something that i myself wouldn’t have even been willing to pay more than $10-20 for if i saw it in a store.
i have not bought any new clothes since learning how to crochet. every time i see clothes at a store (especially obviously handmade items like crochet), and i look at the price tag i feel genuinely sick to my stomach.
i’m not saying everyone needs to make their own clothes in order to be against fast fashion, but what i am saying is if hearing about the conditions and wages secondhand has not been enough to make you stop buying it, if you find yourself becoming desensitized to the suffering of the people who make your things, you should try making something yourself.
you need to see firsthand how physically and mentally demanding it can be and imagine how much worse it would be if you were forced to sit in a sweatshop for 16 hours a day doing it nonstop, earning pennies an hour to do so. you need to spend weeks laboring over something only for it to turn out looking like shit so you realize just how much wisdom and technical skill goes into these supposedly “unskilled” and undervalued jobs. if the abstract concept isn’t enough to get through to you, then you need to get hands on.

my Punk Jackets
masterpost >:>
Okay so here's my current battle jacket that I wear all the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The back patch is a Front Bottoms song and the jacket is covered in things, little keys, fun worms I give away (not all the pride flags are mine some are just so I can give people theirs), pins, safety pins (esp around the collar) and spikes.
One side of the jacket is this and has my hopepunk patch which is a personal like. fave.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and the other is like this! The mischief brew one sews through the pocket fun fact (just a little though like 1 stitch)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
my friend @soan-papdi made the cabin 11 patch! <3
the pockets on this jacket are big enough to put a magazine in and it's a great jacket.
Next is my flannel which I made summer of 2021, two of the patches have been replaces but the rest definitely show their age. It doesn't have a lot on it because when I was hospitalized I took all the sharps off all my jackets and I haven't gotten around to putting them back on that jacket yet. It definitely is more political than my more music/art-oriented jacket and both have benefits
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The "Share art share joy" patch (which used to be "snitch on your boss" but that would fold and looked like "itch your ass" moral of the story, look at how things will fold lol) is a pocket!
Tumblr media
The back patch is the first patch I ever made! The sleeves are spiked which is fun but flannel definely doesn't hold spikes well.
Next is my leather jacket which was pleather so fell apart so I painted in all the holes and did a Kimya Dawson quote on the back. It needs some touch-ups on the quote but it's really sweet to me because it did it with friends.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, my platypus' jacket.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I sewed the whole thing myself from a jean leg and the back patch is going to be "love yourself a latke" because his name is Latke!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right now he has a rainbow heart, some black eyed susans, and a "Bee kind" patch!
If anyone ever wants battle jacket tips I'd love to give advice. I might make another fashion post sometime with all my written on shirts or my jorts I embroidered and painted on. Maybe I'll post my kandi someday. for now; Here's my jackets! I worked hard on them.

simple tutorial on how to make those bottlecap buttons you see everywhere
you'll need:
bottlecap•soda tab•safety pin•pliers•sandpaper/file•paint/paint markers/smth to decorate with•clear nail polish
remove the print on the buttons using a file or the sandpaper
(if you wanna keep the print skip this step, use a cloth to protect the print from scratches when folding down the sides of the cap)
Tumblr media
fold down opposing sides of the cap, to help add in the safety pin
Tumblr media
bend the tab at a slight angle, insert it into the cap. make sure the side of the safety pin that can not open is the one stuck under the tab
Tumblr media
fold down one side of the cap to lock the tab in place, then try and press the tab as flat as you can, to lock the safety pin in place (prevents the buttons from moving on the safety pin, if you like rattling buttons, skip this step)
Tumblr media
fold down all other sides of the cap
Tumblr media
cover the button in one or more base layers of paint
Tumblr media
add ur design (i use paint or paint markers for good coverage and vibrant colors)
Tumblr media
cover that in one or two layers of nail polish, it will protect the button from rain and the paint from cracking
Tumblr media
thats it, lemme know if you want tutorials on anything else, i like making em.

So I stumbled across this Etsy that sells dog accessories, and like 50% of the patches they sell (intended for use on dog jackets) go harder than anything made with humans in mind. Like am I crazy or
