i've been playing Evergrace (FromSoft's first attempt at a 3rd person fantasy RPG, like a grandparent to Dark Souls) recently and god i am absolutely in LOVE, 100% in my top 10, but also FromSoft since the beginning really has just been making the same game just better and fancier as time goes on.

I haven't played anything pre-Evergrace (save for Armored Core, but those are like...a completely different vibe than most of FromSoft's stuff pre-Demon's Souls) but Evergrace really just feels like how I felt the first time I played a Dark Souls game years ago; you're dropped into this fantasy world where everything is just completely in ruins, there's maybe like 10 people still alive to talk to, and the rest of the living things you encounter are just monsters and creatures, and everything is just really weird and confusing and makes no sense (which isn't helped by the really bad English localization with a bunch of misspellings + a really crappy dub but like it's 2000 so w/e) you're just thrown into it, no hand-holding, nothing to guide you, and you just have to pick up the pieces along the way and figure it out.

Like I just really love that about FromSoft and i really love the vibes and everything of Evergrace (which honestly feels like a weird precursor to Dark Souls 2 in terms of like...vibes, but that might also just be because my first Dark Souls game WAS 2 lol)

what a nice ask!!!!! thank you for noticing my interest in that stuff <3 there is something about my autistic mind that makes me absolutely crave intricate lowpoly spaces.

the first place my mind goes is Graffiti Kingdom.

an unflinching march through a serene psychedelic environment overflowing with creativity and charm. my favorite platformer. cannot recommend enough

the second thing that jumps to mind is fromsoftware games, especially evergrace, lost kingdoms 1+2, and dark souls

their environments are bursting with character and intrigue. every "screen" of these games is unique, and they add up to interesting wholes. generally somewhat difficult to explore, but they're also very quiet games, and they feel like they're encouraging you to explore every inch of the space. i particularly like how dark souls eventually starts forcing you to climb apparent scenery to proceed.

some other stuff that appeals to me in this way: Super Mario Land 64, Kirby 64, LSD Dream Emulator, Yume Nikki 3D, TF2 surf maps, WoW

im not a Huge ac fan but i picked up some of the earlier titles when i got the evergrace games (just 2 and 3) and i enjoyed them fine. i uh. i really really enjoyed about 80% of ac6, then nepenthes, enforcer, and ephemera Back To Back made me so frustrated during the process of beating them that i just got completely burnt out on the game and never finished it

#i DID beat them i want to make that clear. but as soon as i got back to the mission menu After i was like. ok im taking a break for a while #and i still havent come back LOL

so as y'all know, the game awards are only a couple days away, and as you also know, fromsoft is very very likely to make an announcement during it lol

Now obviously it will most likely be an elden ring dlc announcement buuuuuut!!! Buttttttt!!! Hear me out!!! What if we get an evergrace announcement?!?! We did get armored core last year and nobody saw that coming AND on top of that fromsoft dropped the AC6 trailer ON evergrace's anniversary... coincidence??? I think not! (Let a girl dream lmao)
