Confession: For some reason I forgot Farengar is a human, and was flabbergasted to see that he's a nord on his uesp page. I mean his name sounds kinda elven and his chin is very long, narrow and pointy...

Six-Sentence Someday!
tagged by the wonderful @totally-not-deacon !! thank you!!
i'm tagging @mareenavee @dirty-bosmer @thequeenofthewinter @skyrim-forever @argisthebulwark and anyone who wants to participate, no pressure as always!!
this is from chapter 17 of Cycle of the Serpent. decided i needed to give wyndrelis some time to shine, if this can be called that. poor bastard is in my line of sight and now he suffers the consequences, but this is juuuuuuuuuuust a little bit before that. <3
The Dunmer stepped cautiously over, Farengar reaching into a drawer and retrieving an old, brass staff. The staff itself was unimpressive; shorter height than the average, no engravings, and a soul gem resting neatly at the end. But the line of well-carved, well-worn runes that circled it's length gave him pause. He traced a grey finger along them, unable to read the script. "It looks… Daedric." He finally surmised, giving Farengar a careful glance as the other wizard handed him the brass artifact. Wyndrelis wrapped his hands around the cold metal, ensuring it was not directly in front of his body as the other began the process. His palms dampened, he ignored it.

Farengar Secret-Fire: Wasn't the world supposed to end in 3E 433? That was a good plan. Who screwed that up?
Leara Rose-blade: Some carnival sideshow protagonist with the power of friendship, probably.

I can't be the only one who thinks Farengar Secret-Fire is kind of adorable right? Surely I'm not the only one? I also kind of feel bad for him, since, ya know... Literally ANYONE can wander into where he works, sleeps and practices magic and screw with him or his stuff.

Confession: Farengar was my first fictional crush. He formed my taste in men and till this day I often find that my new favorite characters somewhat look like him. I don't know how to feel about that.

dragon names are simultaneously shouts used to summon them/gain their attention, dragon names also seem to (usually) have three syllables
It seems Dragonborns are generally named Dovahkiin
I like to headcanon that through the Dragonborn Farengar befriends the dragons and he's given a dragon name too, Dovfahdon, Friend of Dragonkind

"Cycle of the Serpent"
Chapter 17 - Five Footsteps in Length
prev. chapter | index
preview:
The Dunmer stepped over, trepidation following the motions of his feet. Farengar reached into a drawer and retrieved an old, brass staff. The staff itself was unimpressive; shorter height than the average, no obvious engravings, and a soul gem neatly cradled by a cage of thin metal bands.    Upon closer inspection, the line of well-carved, well-worn runes that circled it's length gave him pause. He traced a grey finger along them, unable to read the script, his hand working it's way up the brass from it's midsection to the gem.   "It looks... Daedric." He finally surmised, giving Farengar a careful glance as the other wizard handed him the artifact. Wyndrelis wrapped his hands around the cold metal, ensuring several times with tight glances that it was not directly in front of his body as the other began the process. His palms dampened. He ignored it.    "There's one particular rune that's my problem," the Nord scratched at his chin, "the one nearest the soul gem. It looks newer, like it was given to the staff recently. I tried sending an etching to Urzha gra-Batob up in Winterhold, but she hasn't gotten to me. Couriers take longer, these days." He explained with a scowl as he drew closer, running his palm over the carving.   "Right, so what do we...?"   "The staff won't work with this here, is what I'm guessing. I've tried to make it do just about anything, but... Well, again, this rune- I think it's blocking the enchantments, if that's even possible."    Wyndrelis listened as the wizard worked, Farengars fingers tracing the image of the rune in small circles, magicka focused into the tip of his finger. It swirled into soft veins of cerulean, filling the runes, attempting to disarm or deactivate them, Wyndrelis figured. With a start, the artifact warmed in the Dunmers palm, thrumming between his fingertips. Farengar's grin inched higher and higher, as though the experiment were going as planned, eyes sparkling.   "I think that's-"

This is my blorbo. His name is Farengar Secret-Fire, and he's an autistic wizard. He may not be very popular, but I think he's neat.
