He was out training the recruits. The weather was piss poor. Absolutely hotter than the fucking devil's ass crack and it was beginning to make everyone want to drench themselves in cold water or worse, die.
The new batch of meat had arrived a couple of days ago, and Price had so humbly given him the order for this duty.
'Take them under your wings, Gaz.'
And now, here he was. Sweating buckets while having to teach these amateurs how to get it done.
They have been going for more than an hour now, when he finally decided to take pity on their souls. After all, he understood how it could be. He had been a rookie once.
"Alright! It's a ten minute break and then we're back at it! Don't want to carry your ass to medical for passing out."
He saw how they all sighed in relief and hurried to hydrate themselves under the nice shaded area. A small snort escaped him when some dropped down dramatically in hopes of resting.
"Holdin' on well, Garrick?"
He raised a brow and turned to look at the lieutenant. Sometimes, he wondered how the fuck is it that Ghost never melted under that mask and uniform. It left him completely perplexed. But then, he dismisses it by Ghost just being Ghost.
"Better than Cap, that's for sure." He answered with amusement. His beautiful brown eyes twinkled along.
"Here, came to give you this."
He looked down and hummed. It was his sacred tumbler. It is more than likely filled with fresh cold water.
"Appreciate it, mate."
He opened it up and took very long sips. The cold water went down his throat like heaven. He moaned lightly at that.
He continued without giving a shit that some had spilled on his lips, to his chin, and finally down to his neck.
It wasn't until he finished and was about to wipe himself off with his hand when a gloved hand stopped him and then felt a tongue on his neck.
His eyes widened. Ghost was licking his neck. The lieutenant was licking his neck. He gasped lightly at that since it was absolutely unexpected.
And just as fast as it came, it was gone. His cheeks burned and not due to the disgusting weather.
"There we go, lad. See you later. You already know where."
He immediately composed himself, cleared his throat, and nodded. A small smirk appeared on his lips.
ok! i think tumblr ate my fucking apple cider recipe post. still, my autumn equinox tradition must carry on!
Apollo's Foolproof From-Scratch Apple Cider That Was So Good It Allegedly Landed Me A Boyfriend
you will need:
12 apples (the variety is up to you, i usually do half granny smith and half whatever's on sale plus a red delicious for garnishing)
10oz raisins
cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, star anise, nutmeg, allspice, cardamom pods, any other warming spices u like (whole > ground) (follow ur heart on the amounts, it's like garlic just throw so much in there. just go wild)
1 orange
brown sugar (i don't have measurements but be prepared to use a LOT lmao, i always buy at least one 32oz bag. you'll be sweetening to taste.)
large pot with lid
potato masher (optional)
two large bowls/pots/receptacles to strain the cider into
fine mesh strainer
cheesecloth or coffee filters (optional)
apple corer or knife
citrus zester
slotted spoon or ladle
the steps:
1. scrub apples gently under hot water to remove grocery store wax coating. core apples making sure all seeds & stems are removed. add apples, raisins, and mulling spices to pot with enough water to fully cover ingredients, and bring to boil. reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 1 hour.
2. scrub orange to remove wax. zest and juice, avoiding the pith & seeds. use a potato masher or other utensil to lightly mash boiled apple mixture so every apple slice is at least partially broken up, then add the zest & juice to the pot. bring back to boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for another hour. then turn off the heat and allow mixture to cool.
3. place two mesh strainers over two bowls or pots (and cover each with a cheesecloth or coffee filters, if you have them). with a slotted spoon or ladle, remove as much of the solids from the pot as you can and place them in one strainer (the larger one, if they are different sizes) to drain, then press out as much liquid into the cheesecloth as possible.
4. pour the cider from the simmer pot into the second cheesecloth and press. combine the liquid from both bowls.
5. add brown sugar to taste
cooking tips:
the times listed above are bare minimums. once all the ingredients are in the pot (minus sugar!) you can simmer as long as you want, so long as someone's nearby to supervise.
always add any sweeteners after the cooking process. otherwise, they'll burn and make the whole thing bitter.
if it's too acidic, add baking soda or more spices. if it's not acidic enough, add lemon juice, additional orange juice, or apple cider vinegar.
variations:
add 12oz fresh cranberries to the first step
sub oranges for lemons or apple cider vinegar
sub brown sugar for straight molasses, maple syrup, or alternative sweetener of your choice (I'd imagine fig or other fruit-based sweeteners would work best)
report back to me if you try something new!! i want to hear how it turned out!
serving suggestions:
add three or four cinnamon imperials (red hots) to your mug, along with a dash of fireball whiskey if you're so inclined. i cannot stress enough how fucking amazing this tastes.
garnish with apple slices, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and/or star anise
if you have dairy-free ice cream on hand, pour some cider over a scoop. you can use dairy ice cream, but it's more likely to curdle.
freeze some in an ice cube tray, then blend with some non-frozen cider for a slushie
ok I've never tried this, but i bet blending with pumpkin puree would slap. PLEASE tell me if you try it
this makes a metric fuckload of cider, which is very rich and can be watered down considerably (seriously). share with your friends and/or freeze some to last the season (or halve it, i guess, but that's no fun :P)
I know we make this joke every time but seriously the Imperfects getting cancelled is my villain origin story. I'm so fucking tired of Netflix burying its small queer shows under bigger releases, doing fuck all to promote them, then shrugging and saying they underperformed so they gotta go. And of course this was one of like 7 shows with an asexual character and one of like two with an actual ace main character. God I am so FUCKING OVER IT.
Anyway, go stream Dead End: Paranormal Park, The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself, Young Royals and Warrior Nun to support more queer shows that Netflix has buried under Big Mouth, Manifest, From Scratch, Blockbuster, Love is Blind and whatever other shows they're actively promoting right now.

The precious boy kept on giggling. Soap's hair was wet from the previous shower, and the sergeant seemed to be in a playful mood since Gaz had regressed due to stress.
They were currently in the bathroom. He was sitting on the sink with a grin while Soap stood in front of him. The sopping wet patch of his hair dripping droplets of water.
"Like my hair, Bubba?" Soap asked with a grin, staring at the boy.
Gaz nodded, Soap looked quite funny. It made him giggle lightly in humor.
"Very funny! Play?" The precious boy asked with excitement. His gorgeous brown eyes sparkled with amusement and fun.
Soap grinned even wider. He liked playing with him. And if it kept the boy happy? Even more.
"C'mon, you can play all you like. Just don't let anyone know that you're the first to do so, yeah?"
Gaz immediately perked up and nodded before moving his hands to Soap's hair. He grabbed some hair products and began playing with the mohawk.
Yesterday was a busy day! As I cant grow/process everything we eat (yet! Someday maybe the majority, but until then I'm good with growing as much as possible.) it was grocery shop day. Then Did meal prep for the week, I usually do a short bit of meal prep on grocery day but I tried to be a bit better with it this week to try and save time so I can get some pattern work and sewing done later. :)
The start of the meal prep, veggie portion. I like to wash my produce with water and baking soda. (I save the rinse water for the flower patch) ratio for me is a half sink of water, 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Mix to dissolve.
Pictured~
shredded cabbage, carrots (shredded, noodle sliced, coined), mushrooms (sliced and cubed), diced tomatoes, bell peppers (diced. Julienned, coined and a few snacks), jalapeno (coined and diced), onion (diced and frozen), honeydew, potato salad
Start of apple cider vinegar. I'm going to try and make it again for personal use.

Super small garden goodies~
Our first radishes of the season!
Plus this lovely web I spotted this morning
As well as an update on the sweet potato flowers
The blooms don't last long, ive noticed most fall off the next day.
I did a little online sleuthing and like regular potatoes, sweet potatoes can make seeds (though vines are the best way to propagate them) It's advised that the seeds might not really produce anything decent but I admit I'm curious more to see how it grows now and goes through seed development. If they produce seed I'll save them for a future grow experiment and experience.
I'll likely be pinching the flowers off from the other vines so they continue producing vines and greens. I've liked having a form of fresh greens available for soups, stirfrys and omlettes.
That's it for now, I'm off to do some critter care~
