Went ahead and threw on ZeXal II episode 38 [111] thinking nothing big will go on, just Barian'd No. 96 overwhelming Yuma and Astral and the two going further to prove their bond together, no big dea--

*episode starts with a foreshadowing of Astral leaving the Numbers with Yuma and saying goodbye in some kind of vision Yuma's having [making me double-check to make sure I'm on the right episode lol]*

*No. 96 pushes Yuma and Astral to the edge and struggling Yuma joins Astral in a ZeXal Change, talking about how Hope embodies their bond and the concept of hope always leading them to win as they beat 96*

*sore loser/"God" 96 makes a last dash at retaking Astral to continue destroying all three worlds and Astral pushes Yuma out of ZeXal to keep him out of it*

*ultimately the vision comes true and Astral gives himself up to keep Yuma safe and gives him the Numbers as he and the Emperor's Key sink into a pit*

*Yuma's broken and Kotori and the others are looking somber*

*GO WAY GO WAY updates with a Yuma/Astral montage, including showing the cute moment with Astral's first time eating over the bridge to the chorus*

ZeXal definitely has been doing a good job of getting you invested in Yuma and Astral's relationship, the differences they've had here/there with things like Yuma's trust in his opponents after the Vector trolling, and how Astral respects Yuma's always-keep-going attitude and Yuma's growth in respecting him, so with the way they went about seemingly killing Astral here as all 96 cares about is getting his way and continuing his destruction, it's reasonable to see how it'd affect Yuma the way it does. Really good episode.

(I say "seemingly" not so much because spoilers as because ofc I still have 40-odd episodes to go so that can't be it for Astral lol)

Also, really good shots here [feels like the closest Astral's looked to Kaz's sketch so far too]; I almost thought this was a Hara/Gil-bo episode (Gil-bo looks to be on the next one with Heartland talking with Yuma), but Akemi Yokota's team did a great job on this one (it has been cool seeing some of the Animation Directors I know from ARC-V on start to really get their style going in ZeXal or keep it going after 5D's like Gil-bo and Hara)

Also since it's been a while, I did enjoy the Seven Ruin Numbers arc too, was interesting to see that the Barians are reincarnations of these past figures (and also interesting how Yuma's dad had seen each one...), and of course the big revelation with Shark and Rio being reincarnations themselves... Was kinda neat how they did those visions Atem-in-Memory-World style by dropping Shark into Nasch's body and all, lol. Knowing few details here/there about how things go there, I'm curious to see how it shakes out, since Shark seems to be thinking about it in the next episode.

(Also, was really amused seeing how Mizael's legend was edited in the dub; I get you couldn't show Mizael giving himself up so the townspeople saw he was right about his horse yet the invading country killing him anyway, but it felt like dub!Crashtown's ending a bit with what they did lol)

Just Nergui Thoughts

Why is is that I just can’t seem to...to make any friends? I can’t seem to connect with people the way others do. I’ve been around, doing business, performing, running my shops, saving the world and whatnot, but it’s almost like everyone treats me differently, even if they don’t know anything about me. Maybe it’s just something about my aether.

I’ve gone out to bars, to nightclubs, to parties, performed...and while others seem too always be in groups or making friends whether they’re very talkative or not, I’m just...by myself. The only people who really talk to me seem to be the other Scions. I wonder if they ever feel the same, and that’s why they mostly choose solitude except for the young twins. It must just be a certain vibe we give off. It looks so easy for everyone else.

Ever since I was a kid...it was always...I can’t really have friends because I’m different. Being friends with me would just get you into trouble, put you in danger, or be too much of a hassle. Me being friends with anyone else was too dangerous, it’s safer if I just keep to my magic practice and studies, my training. I’m too important, it’s because they needed me to be safe and become strong.

I was so lucky to have ever even met Aruktai, for the few years we knew each other. Who else could have gotten approval of my family and put up with the scrutiny and politics involved with being close to me? At least one night a week I imagine for a while what it would be like were he alive, had come traveling with me as we promised, and joined the Scions together.

He smiled, just faintly. It faded.

Arma for one seems to be really nice to me and spend a lot of time around me, but I can only have my doubts. She’s a machine, meant to hunt voidsent. She probably feels compelled to keep an eye on me. I don’t know what to think about it. Some of my staff members...like Rex, he seems like a very friendly guy, but they’re all just acquaintances. I don’t know if I’ll ever speak more deeply to any of them, beyond business. If anyone will become more important to me, or if I’ll ever be memorable to any of them. And then, the hosts I used to visit...it was so easy to just pay for the companionship. I’m...honestly uncertain if I’ll ever see any of them again. And Nil...Nil is........................

He smiled again, briefly.

I don’t know...he seemed to genuinely like me sometimes. But there is nothing I can believe. I wish he were still a host, so I could just spend time with him again, no confusion, no uncertainty. No worries. No complications. Not so much insecurity. Just bring him some gifts and gil on Sunday nights, sit there under the stars nestled against him, and look forward to the next time. But he is done with that phase of his life and I...am unsure where I stand.

His eyes closed in deep reflection.

Maybe I should stick to the shadows like the rest of us. Be content to just have an occasional tea or museum trip with Y’shtola, drinks and a cynical airing of grievances with Thancred, or read history books with Urianger and talk about magic and aetherology...and spend the night with Estinien as often as I can. The most wonderful person I could have ever asked to meet on this battlefield...a man I know will be accepted to live out a quiet and isolated life with me on the Steppes with my tribe should we reach the winters of our lives together, despite his being an outsider.

His face grew serene.

He’s a good listener and shoulder to lean on when he can, I just wish he were less emotionally distant sometimes. Lately he’s so fixated on this whole Vrtra and ‘repaying his debts to the dragons’ thing that his blood compels him to. It can’t be helped.

His expression became bitter again.

We’re all too serious, too gloomy. We’ve seen too much. There is no...social life for people like us. We’re not meant to have other friends, to love outside of our strange little company. We’re meant to just be heroes. Hell, we aren’t even meant to be alive. We’re just dead men and women walking, here to sweep up the rubble after we save the world from disaster after disaster, and await the next one. We’re just keepers of the realm, ensuring everyone else has a life to live. No rest for the righteous. I am here as I was before, to perform my duties and see the world, mostly travelling alone until it is time for me to return to the star. But...we still all have each other. Shouldn’t that just be enough? I’d be happier if I just didn’t care so much. Why must I feel empty and focus on what I don’t and may never have?

Triple Asesinato en una iglesia en la Sierra Tarahumara.

El pasado lunes 20 de junio de 2022 la violenta presencia del narcotráfico se hizo presente una vez más, arrebatándole la vida a dos curas jesuitas y a un guía turístico en la Sierra Tarahumara. Los cuerpos estaban desaparecidos hasta el pasado miércoles en que la fiscalía hizo la declaración de haberlos encontrado y comprobado que eran ellos por medio de pruebas forenses. Sin embargo, las autoridades no dieron mayor detalles sobre cómo, cuándo, dónde y en qué condiciones fueron encontrados. 

Las víctimas fueron identificadas como Javier Campos de 79 años, Joaquín Mora de 80 años( ambos sacerdotes jesuitas) y Pedro Palma Gutiérrez, guía turístico de 60 años.

Según el único testigo presencial que me mantiene en el anonimato por el momento por cuestiones de seguridad, Pedro Palma Gutiérrez llegó el lunes por la tarde a plena luz del día a la iglesia de Cerocahui, ubicada en el municipio de Urique en el Estado de Chihuahua. Pedro estaba buscando refugio ya que estaba siendo perseguido por un grupo de hombres armados, al entrar a la iglesia uno de los hombres, presuntamente identificado como José Noriel Portillo Gil alias ‘El Chueco’ le disparó a Pedro y a continuación le disparó a Javier Campos y Joaquín Mora quienes corrieron a auxiliarlo. En la escena también estuvo presente un tercer miembro de la iglesia quien presenció toda la situación y suplicó a los criminales no dispararle y no llevarse los cuerpos de sus compañeros y el guía. Petición a la cual el grupo armado hizo caso omiso y arrastraron los cadáveres hasta una camioneta para llevarlos.(El País)

Ese mismo día se denunció ante las autoridades el secuestro de 4 personas supuestamente turistas, dos hombres identificados Paul Osvaldo B. y Armando B, una mujer y un menor de edad sin identificar. Hasta el momento la fiscalía no ha hecho ninguna declaración en torno a esta situación ni se le ha vinculado con el asesinato de los 3 hombres. Esto fue denunciado por el hijo de Pedro Palma por medio de su cuenta de Twitter donde relata cómo es que una compañera de trabajo de su papá se comunicó con él vía Whatsapp el lunes por la noche para contarle lo sucedido. En este hilo de Twitter se vincula el secuestro de los turistas con el asesinato de las 3 víctimas. Sin embargo y como se mencionó anteriormente, la fiscalía no ha dado una declaración donde se vinculen ambos hechos.

Debido a toda la presión e indignación que nació en torno a este caso, el presidente López Obrador anunció que ya se enviaron soldados del Ejército Nacional para participar en la búsqueda del principal sospechoso José Noriel Portillo Gil alias ‘El Chueco’ quien es identificado como un líder del narco local vinculado al Cartel de Sinaloa. 

‘El Chueco’ también fue señalado como principal sospechoso de asesinar a un profesor estadounidense llamado Patrick Braxton-Andrews a quien supuestamente se le confundió con un agente de la DEA. 

Por el momento la fiscalía del estado está ofreciendo una recompensa de cinco millones de pesos a cualquier persona que ofrezca información útil para dar con el paradero de José Noriel Portillo Gil.

The Efficacy of the War on Drugs

The war on drugs is a very controversial topic in American Politics. Through a series of programs started by Richard Nixon in the 1970′s, the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act was created as a means to put an end to illicit drug use in America, and $100 million dollars was dedicated toward fighting for the cause. Back then, the main face of the “drug problem” was a far cry from what it is today, namely marijuana smoking hippies known for protesting the Vietnam War. Today, that annual budget has ballooned to over $15 billion federal dollars a year. (1) Today, the War on Drugs has escalated far beyond Nixon’s time, and is instead fought against larger drug-smuggling syndications and their buyers. The stakes are much higher now, with hundreds of thousands of kilos of methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin, smuggled into the country annually. The purpose of this blog post will be to ascertain how exactly this money was spent; and whether it was effective in achieving its core goals. Namely, has it reduced drug-related crime, drug-use, and alleviated crime in many of our major cities. At the beginning of my research I attempted to remain neutral about my own opinion of the government’s choice of policies, but it is abundantly clear that it has achieved no progress in any of its goals.

First, I conducted research to see how the government was actually spending this money, as it seems the main way the government attempts to effect change in our society is through throwing astronomical amounts of money at problems. (Other than simply making a substance illegal.) It is important to highlight just how much money is spent on these programs. This is money levied from the American taxpayer is often spent on programs that aren't tested to produce results. 

First, $33 billion dollars was spent on Nancy Regan’s “Just Say No” campaign, which eventually evolved into the DARE campaign, consisting of police authors and other authority figures drilling an anti-drug sentiment into adolescents in school. Despite this sum, the rate of teen-drug usage has actually increased since the start of the campaign. Many studies suggest that the DARE campaigns often had an inverse effect on teens, leading them to want to defy authority and participate in illicit drug use. (2) Amazingly, the DARE portion of the campaign lasted for 26 years between 1983-2009, despite showing no results. 

Another example of an ineffective strategy employed by the federal government to combat our drug problem is the operations of the DEA, specifically our international operations in other states in our hemisphere. For example, at the beginning of the “war,” the main hub of the drug smuggling cartels was Colombia. The federal government spent over 20 billion dollars fighting the cartels in Colombia alone. This yielded only the result of the cartels instead moving their base of operations to Mexico, where the government is no longer able to get a handle on the major drug syndications. Chasing the cartels on their own turf turns into a game of whack-a-mole, which only results in them packing up and moving to another country. (1)

Lastly, the main domestic policy against drug usage in America is simply to prosecute and arrest the users. From 1970-2010, over 121 Billion dollars has been spent to arrest over 37 million people for low level drug offenses, and 450 million has been used to process them through federal prisons. Furthermore, throwing drug users in prison seems to be an ineffective way of helping them overcome their addictions, as many continue to use smuggled drugs while inside the prison. (3) In addition, the cost of putting users in prison could very well cost more than simply treating them instead. One study found that if this money had been spent on treatment instead, it would save the federal government approximately $20,000 per incarcerated person per year. (4) 

Next, data shows that this astronomical amount of spending and policy has had absolutely no serious positive effect on drug addiction and drug usage. According to the Department of Health and Human Services and the International Center for Science in Drug Policy, the amount of people affected by drug-addiction has not changed in any major way since the beginning of the war on drugs in the 70s. Since then, the rate of people suffering from drug addiction has not deviated far from a value of 1.5%. (5)

As all government programs, the “War on Drugs” was meant to improve society, and help reduce crime. Unfortunately, these good intentions often have unintended consequences. Police Chiefs in Chicago, Houston, New York, and Los Angeles have called the War on Drugs a colossal waste of resources due to how the flawed programs have harmed the people in their cities. Victims of the War on Drugs are most often people of low socio-economic backgrounds, namely minorities in urban areas with low amounts of education and legal recourse. As such, these programs have only furthered to add to the feeling of racism by law enforcement agencies, leading people to feel less likely to trust them. A lack of trust in the law enforcement in turn makes cities more dangerous as people become more reluctant to call the police. (6)

Finally, studies show that these programs have failed their most basic purpose, to reduce the amount of illicit drugs demanded by the American public. The illegal drug industry is absolutely massive, estimated to make 320 billion every year. This is an astronomical amount, about 1% of the world’s commerce. (7) The vast majority of buyers are American citizens, making up more than 50% of the world's demand for illicit substances. Although the demand for some drugs, such as cocaine, have fallen slightly over the last two decades, the demand for opiates such as heroin have increased dramatically. (8) The money here shows that one of the main issues with the illicit drug world is just how lucrative it is due to America’s immense demand for drugs. The financial incentive to continue to smuggle drugs across the southern border is immense, leading to an estimated 10% of Mexico’s economy being composed of profits from illegal drug smuggling across the border. (9)

In conclusion, all of this data suggests that the United State’s choice in public policy for addressing illicit drugs has been entirely Sisyphean in nature. Not only have rates of drug usage and demand not changed in the way the federal government has been hoping to accomplish, but vast amounts of people now find themselves in prison when they otherwise wouldn't be. As Gil Kerlikowske, the former Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, says “the US government never took a big picture approach to the problem of drugs. There was too much of a focus on arresting drug dealers and not enough on treating the addiction that made drug dealing such a lucrative business.” (1) It leaves one to wonder what this money could have done if it had been used to focus on addiction instead, and how legalization and regulation of illicit drugs may be a far better solution. How much longer will the federal government continue to “throw good money after bad” when none of the science suggests that their current policy has had any of its intended effects?

Harriet: where is my brother?

(Harriet lunges are the sea witch but Cj holds her back. While this is happening Hadie poofs back in slightly singed and very pissed off)

Hadie: for the record Rodan. I don’t appreciate being sent to Dark Mountain. Chernabog may be insultingly attractive but he’s far too fatherly for my tastes.

Cj: shove off spawn. There’s more important matters at hand

(Hadie chuckles sinisterly. Then force chokes the sisters)

Hadie: oh look at that. Fragile necks and bravado are such an inexplicable combination. And as you will see very soon. Deadly

Harriet: he.. he he mi...dea.

Cj: he...gone

Hadie: what? What’re you talking about?

Chadeficent: oh I think you know

(Hadie’s eyes glow bright grey. He drops the sisters, takes out a silver knife and throws it at Ursula. It slashes her cheek)

Hadie: ever heard of phlegathon tempered steel? It cuts you. Then heals you. But keeps you in burning unbearable pain. Until such time the wielder chooses to release you from it.

(Ursula’s cheek is starting to burn. Steam is curling from the edges of the cut)

Ursula: I was exiled from Atlantica. Whatever petty wound you deal me is of no consequence.

Hadie: yeah but (he sighs) cut you enough and it burns away your very being. So. What’ll it be bitch?

(Ursula growls in irritation and disappears in a torrent of water)

Hadie: now that that’s over oh cripes they’re gone.

(Chadeficent and the girls have left the scene. At the Jolly Roger Hook is waiting on deck)

Hook: GIRLS! What the hell have you been doing. Dukes is dead. And the men say you killed him Cj. If you keep doing this you’ll never land a husband.

Cj: aye. And what of it father?

Harriet: oh god not now.

Cj: yes now. Our brother has been missing for a year now and may as well be dead and all he cares about is his disgusting heterosexual misogynistic bastards of a crew

Hook: what’re you saying Cj?

Cj: what d’you think I’m saying dad?

Hook: it sounds as though you’re thinking to much like your freak of a brother

Harriet: Harry was bisexual pops

Hook: in time this will pass and you’ll be just like your sister

Cj (scoffing): of course. Be like Harriet. The pretty one. The smart one. The obedient one.

Harriet (for once very sheepish): Ceej. Could ya please lemme outta this?

Cj: no. He’s always wanted me to be like you. But guess what. I’m never gonna be who you want me to be

(This is when “sit still look pretty” happens. After the song Cj storms off)

Hook: and do you have any oddities you’d like to share Harriet? Because if so nows the time

Harriet: yes. As a matter of fact I do. For the past seven years I’ve been in uh heh “cahoots” with Gaston junior.

Hook: like the freak and the pansy

Harriet: sort of. Except theirs was more emotional. Ours is. Purely on the physical side. And yes. I’m the boss.

(Hook goes puce)

Harriet: uncle Starkey. I’ll be back presently

(She runs after her sister)

Hook: take me back to my quarters Starkey

Starkey: of course sir.

(He wheels the captain back in side. Harriet catches up with Cj. She finds her in an alleyway surrounded by the felled bodies of ten dogs and one cat)

Harriet: what the hell did you do.

Cj: the one thing I ever got from him, that wasn’t a hand me down from you or Har, was this.

(She holds up a whistle)

Harriet: wow

Cj: yep. Turns out it’s a dog whistle. Which pretty succinctly explains how the bastards could hear it all the way across Neverland when Jane found the treasure

Harriet: and the morbidly obese demon on four legs?

Cj: Tremaine’s moggy

Harriet: right. What you did was incredibly brave you know.

Cj: I don’t like animals.

Harriet: I meant what happened at home just now

Cj: I know. Like I said. I don’t like animals.

(At the core fours old apartment chadeficent has just arrived. Only to see Jafar watching tv)

Chadeficent: hello worthless. Miss me?

Jafar: who...?

Chadeficent (Maleficent’s voice): this better?

Jafar (exasperated): you couldn’t have taken control of a pretty one?

Chadeficent (Chad’s voice): fuck off you crypt keeper

(Jafar looks taken aback)

Chadeficent: bugs are to be worked out

Jafar: what is it?

Chadeficent: spawn of Cinderella

Jafar: you couldn’t have got the ash girl herself?

Chadeficent: too strong willed (Chad’s indignant voice) hey! (Maleficent’s voice) SILENCE! (Both voices) I am creating a cult. To destroy our children. Ursula is aboard. What say you?

(The next morning. At Evie’s palce)

Mal:...and Ben found them this morning passed out on the couch with like eight tubs of deluxe rocky road ice scattered at round.

Jay: deluxe?

Mal: chocolate marshmallow ice cream instead of chocolate ice cream

Jay (hopefully): Christmas list?

Mal (generating a tin with magic): why wait?

Jay: ooh yay!

Evie: AH! No. Not yet

Jay: awww. I’ve been here for an hour

Mal: let the man eat sis. It’s the least you can do since you are stabbing him with pins when you could just use 🎶🎶magic🎶. By the way. Your hair remarkably black today

Evie (snarling): get outta workshop

(Mal leaves cackling. She goes to the kitchen where Carlos is giving a plate the thousand yard stare)

Mal: hey kiddo. What’s up?

Carlos (softly with a lot of feeling): the cake...it’s gone. An entire macadamia nut chocolate sponge cake. Gone. How? There was enough for fifty people to have two slices each. And it’s all gone. How can it all be gone?

(The twins and Gil come racing pass the room screeching at the top of their lungs with food all around their mouths)

Mal (aside to Carlos): I think I know. (Normal volume). Gil! Could you bring the kids in here please?

(Gil troops back to the kitchen with the twins trailing behind. All three look terrified. Carlos and Mal lift the twins up onto the counter)

Mal (“mom” voice in full effect): now boys. Did you ask your papa to get the cake from the fridge?

Twins: uhhhh...

Mal: it’s ok. I’m not mad. I just wanna. If it was you then that’s ok. If it was Dude then we need to get him to a veterinarian.

Carlos: WHAT?!?!

Mal: oh shit. Sorry honey.

Carlos: listen to me you rotten little————(the twins look at him with the epitome of puppy eyed innocence) 🎶dad. Where are you. You’re good with this type of stuff🎶

Mal: paperwork

Carlos: fuck

Gil: it was us. Squeaky wanted a snack and I couldn’t find anything in the fridge but the cake. We only meant to share a corner but Celia oh crap

(The girl melts out from the shadows clutching her stomach)

Mal: did you help Gil and the twins eat the entirety of Jane’s birthday cake?

Celia: if I says yes what would you do.

Mal: give you an antacid and advise you to take it easy with the party food.

Celia: then yes. I helped.

Mal: come on then.

(They head to the bathroom. But Mal’s phone starts ringing)

Mal: it’s Ben. Do you know how to get to the bathroom?

Celia: Dizzy sent me a schematic last night

Mal: good. That’s good. If evo finds out I will plead the fifth. You do know that don’t you?

Celia: wouldn’t expect anything less. See ya

(She runs off)

Mal (answering her cell phone): hello your majesty. Any idea on your eta or should I send your apologies to Jane?

Ben: I wish I was close to being done. But there are so many papers to get through and there’s no use in denying it. People are terrified at what ever killed the guards.

Mal: I could come and help you?

Ben: no. Definitely not. Go have fun. Do the routine.

Mal: but you’ll miss it. Though a private rendition for your eyes only could also be very interes-

Cogsworth: ahem hello my lady

Mal (trying not to laugh): sorry Carlton.

Chadeficent (Maleficent’s voice): oh it’s not chad. Hello my sweet

Mal (breathing heavily): Maleficent?

Chadeficent: mhmm. Now give me my sceptre

Mal: what did you do to him?

Chadeficent: he is simply a mindless hormone driven teenage boy

Mal: yeah, I know, he’s an dickhead. Nobody likes him. At all

Chadeficent (Chad’s voice, very, very hurt): they don’t?

Mal: yeah. You’re insufferable.

Chadeficent (Maleficent’s voice): ENOUGH! Give me the sceptre

Mal: you stole the wand didn’t you. And the staff and the mirror. So why do you need the sceptre.

Chadeficent: I want everything of importance (Chad’s voice) I wanna be king (Maleficent’s voice) I want my daughter back

Chadeficent (Chad’s voice): ooh beer (Maleficent’s voice) very well. But be quick about it

(She turns to the drinks table. This is when “she’s so gone” happens. After which Chadeficent picks her up from the splintered table by the neck)

Mal: why...are..you...doing...this?

Chadeficent (Chad’s voice): you don’t deserve this. None of it. You belong on that slag heap. You deserve to rot. To be forgotten. I want you all dead. Don’t you see? You can’t be queen. It’s not right. Audrey should be queen. And I should be king

Mal: but...Ben

Chadeficent (still Chad’s voice): ALL OF YOU WILL DIE. YOU. THE MAGIC PEOPLE THE RUNT THE CHICKS THE TRAIOR THE FREAK OF A DWARF. ALL OF YOU. DEAD (Maleficent’s voice) as for me. I want to break you. For you to see how useless you truly are without me.

Mal (turning purple in the face now): get...bent

(Chadeficent drops her and pulls out the wand)

Chadeficent (Chad’s voice): there’s never been an ugly bitch who’s been queen. Looks are everything. Bibbidi bobbidi boo

(Mal is washed is black light which solidified into a black cloak. The houses doors are blasted off their hinges and jay stands there completely gold and absolutely buzzing with power. Chadeficent cackles as they disappear in black smoke. Jay and the others rush to Mal’s side)

Carlos: oh my god! Mom are you ok?

Mal (voice hoarse thin and cracked): yes ahem yes ye yeah. What the hells wrong with my voice

(Evie takes the hood off of Mal and cackles)

Evie: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! OH MY GOD! YOU LOOK LIKE

Jay (unimpressed with her behaviour): your mother. When she gave the apple to Doug’s aunt

(Evie stops cackling)

Carlos: what happened

Mal: Chad’s possessed by Maleficent. He wants to kill us all and be king

Carlos: and goat lady?

Mal: wants to break me

Evie: so what do we do

Celia: isn’t it obvious? Hades. Your father.

Evie: he is not

Celia: Mal was right and you know it. So stop pissing about and help me get your sister inside the house so she can get some proper clothes on cause an old lady in a minidress is not a good look. I should know. Cruella used to come to the arcade in the warm days. It’s was horrifying. Thank you Carlos for killing her last year by the way

Carlos: much obliged Ceels.

(Mal’s phone rings again. This time Carlos is the one to answer it)

Carlos: hi yes dad. Ok brace yourself. Chad has the wand. He’s possessed by Maleficent. He wants us all dead. Barricade yourself in your office. Emergency protocols. All that shizz. You have magic so you should be fine. We’re gonna stop them. It’s what we do. Us too (he ends the call) that’s dad sorted. Now how do we fix mom?

Celia: go to the island. Get the ember. Come back here. Kick him in the balls until he’s exorcised

Mal: Gil. You coming with us?

Gil: I would but. My boys

Doug: I’ll stay with them. I have my exosuit. I’ll keep them safe. I promise you I will

Gil: ok

Evie: oh my god!

Doug: our kid is fine. She’s with Lonnie and Jane. You know. A badass and a light fairy.

Evie: oh thank god

Jay: so we all know what we’re doing. Action time?

All the others: action time

Squirmy: AAAAAH

Gil (panicky): what? What is it? What’s wrong

Squirmy: I want to give the pretty lady my present

(He holds up a bouquet of periwinkle blue tulips. Everyone relaxes)

Gil: Jane will love them. But it could be a good idea to keep them here. Just until we’re all back together. Yeah?

Squirmy (unhappily): yeah

Doug: c’mon boys. You can help me bake a new cake.

The twins: YAAAAAAAAY

(They run back in. Evie goes up and embraces Doug)

Evie: we’ll be back soon as possible

Doug: take however long you need. I stabbed someon in the junk last year. I can defend myself

Evie: oh I know that. It’s just that

Doug: Evie sweetie. Look at me. I’ll be fine. I promise. And if I need to reach you there’s our phones the the psychic link you set up.

Evie (voice breaking): I...

Doug (understandingly): me too. Now let’s go

(They all run back into the house except for one)

Mal: uh. Guys

Jay: oh. Right

(He runs back and carries her to the house)

Mal: watch the hip. Watch the hip

Jay: yeah yeah yeah.

Celia: so do we get the the island. The limos?

Evie: no. They’re all the the school garages until next week.

Celia: then we’re screwed?

Mal: not entirely

Jaylos and Evie: THE BIKES

Celia: what?

Mal: how I left last year

(At the cliff site. The six of them are on their bikes. Celia’s hanging on to Gil)

Carlos: go on mom

Mal (voice still croaky): noble steed proud and fair/you shall take us anywhere

(They drive over the magic bridge to the island. Back in Auradon Chadeficent is making their way to Jane’s birthday party)

Chadeficent (Maleficent’s voice): are you sure this shall work? (Chad’s voice) it had better. They all deserve it for hating me

Opium Trade - History

What is it?

Opium is an addictive narcotic drug that is from the unripe seedpods of the opium poppy.  For centuries, opium was used as a painkiller in the Middle East and Asia.

Important Dates

3400 B.C. ~ The opium poppy is cultivated in lower Mesopotamia. The Sumerians refer to it as Hul Gil, the 'joy plant.' The Sumerians would soon pass along the plant and its euphoric effects to the Assyrians. The art of poppy-culling would continue from the Assyrians to the Babylonians who in turn would pass their knowledge onto the Egyptians.

1805 ~ A smuggler from Boston, Massachusetts, Charles Cabot, attempts to purchase opium from the British, then smuggle it into China under the auspices of British smugglers.

1874 ~ Opium production increases along the highlands of Southeast Asia. English researcher, C.R. Wright first synthesizes heroin, or diacetylmorphine, by boiling morphine over a stove.

1905 ~  U.S. Congress bans opium.

1910 ~ After 150 years of failed attempts to rid the country of opium, the Chinese are finally successful in convincing the British to dismantle the India-China opium trade.

1973 ~ President Nixon creates the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) under the Justice Dept. to consolidate virtually all federal powers of drug enforcement in a single agency.

1994 ~ Efforts to eradicate opium at its source remains unsuccessful. 

1996 ~ International drug trafficking organizations, including China, Nigeria, Colombia and Mexico are said to be "aggressively marketing heroin in the United States and Europe."

Artistas a fãs de todo o país lamentam a morte de Paulo Gustavo O ator Paulo Gustavo, de 42 anos, morreu nesta terça-feira (4) vítima de complicações causadas pela covid-19. Ele estava internado desde 13 de março no Hospital Copa Star, em Copacabana, na zona sul do Rio de Janeiro.

Na noite desta terça-feira, foi confirmada a morte de Paulo Gustavo na conta oficial do ator no Twitter.

Carreira

Paulo Gustavo nasceu em Niterói, no Rio de Janeiro, e iniciou a carreira em 2006, quando foi indicado ao prêmio Shell no ano de estreia de Minha Mãe é uma Peça, comédia que montou para o teatro e que o consagrou nacionalmente quando foi adaptada para o cinema. Na personagem Dona Hermínia, Paulo Gustavo homenageou sua própria mãe, Dea Lúcia, em uma interpretação que conquistou a identificação do público e garantiu a continuação, Minha Mãe é uma Peça 2, que também foi sucesso de bilheteria. Em 15 anos de carreira, Paulo Gustavo fez cinco peças de destaque para o teatro e também atuou na TV, com cinco programas no canal Multishow: 220 Volts – A Série, Vai Que Cola, Paulo Gustavo na Estrada, A Vila e Além da Ilha. Paulo Gustavo casou-se em 2015 com Thales Bretas, com quem tem dois filhos: Romeu e Gael, de um ano e oito meses.
