Day 28 — Harper River to Lake Coleridge
21.9km
303m ascent, 442m descent, 34m/km grade
I woke up and put on my wet shoes and socks then crossed the Harper River several more times. Eventually the trail connected with a jeep path and my shoes were dry by the time it reached the road.
I didn’t see any cars for two hours, but the first that passed took me from Lake Coleridge to the main road; from there, it was an east hitch to Methven.

Some people try natural methods like using garlic or peppermint oil around their home or office space in order to keep out rodents and insects respectively. Okay so who is down to milk cow!pc and what do they do with the milk? Do they drink it? Sell it? Or secretly put it into other peoples’ food?
Alex gets a bit flustered milking you, but they get really into it. At higher dominance, they might hook you up to a machine to watch as you writhe and moo along with the other cattle. More than willing to drink milk from you or use it to cook. Might serve your milk with tea and coffee when offering it to guests.
Avery will never admit how they like milking you. Enjoys if makes you squirm and moan. Not likely to drink your milk, but might lick it off their fingers while keeping eye contact as a way to fluster you.
Bailey will milk you if it's the only way they can make money off you. Sells it.
Black Wolf might drink it straight from you if you're the alpha.
Briar might milk you on stage, action off your milk to the crowd.
Darryl will at high love, but they're very flustered. Might not be able to look you in the eye for a while.
Doren will if you absolutely need them to, and only in their apartment. They make it clear that they're only doing this to help you.
Eden. They just, do. Drinks it straight from you and more than willing to cook with it.
Grat Hawk might drink your milk, if you ask them to. Milk isn't usually something birds eat, but they're eager to help their spouse.
Gwylan uses your milk for ritual purposes. Might drink some, out of curiosity.
Harper. Samples your milk, saying it's to gauge your health. They'll also have other patients in the asylum milk you, have them drink straight from you.
Kylar wants to milk you all the time. Tries to every day, to the point you might start to get sore. Hysterical Kylar will milk you dry. Wants to drink from you. Stores some of your milk to cook with later. You are the only other person who can eat that food.
Leighton. Makes you sit on their lap as they milk you. Might drink some of it but is mostly doing it to make you squirm.
Catch Mason at the lake and tell them you really need help getting milked. They'll help at high love, but they're clearly flustered.
Of course Morgan would milk you. Straight drinks it from you but will also squirt your milk into their tea.
Remy is a farmer, of course they'll milk you. Usually hooks you up to a machine, might occasionally indulge their own desire to drink your milk from the source. Sells it.
Robin drinks it from you when at low confidence. Otherwise, they might milk you if you need it, but they're only doing it for your comfort.
Whitney will just milk you randomly, because they want to or they're bored or they want to make you flustered in public. Will drink it from you at least once, out of curiosity. Offers to let random people drink from you for 10£. Stores some of your milk and either tries to trick others to drink your milk or forces them.
Wren delights in milking you. Gives you a cheeky grin and says that milking you is part of messing with you during blackjack. Also drinks from you at least once out of curiosity.

Behind the Scene of Turn Left (Part 3)
Excerpt from DWM 397′s feature on Turn Left, by Jason Arnopp:
Tonight’s scene will see Donna Noble and Rose Tyler sitting on a park bench (currently being kept dry by plastic sheets), while flame from the destroyed Sontaran ship blazes across the sky. Catherine Tate laughs as she and Third AD Paul Bennett jump over a small lake of rainwater, hand in hand, approaching the set.
“Is it possible to rehearse with brollies,” smiles Catherine to good-humoured First Assistant Director Simon Morris, “or is that out of the question?”  She and Billie are sitting on the bench, with the benefit of umbrellas, coats on their legs, and cute mini hot water bottles.
A red light stands by to shine on them both, representing the Sontaran flame. “Sexy,” laughs Billie, teeth chattering.
Filming continues, although one take is disrupted by increasingly strong winds blowing Catherine’s hair across her face.
“Pick it up from there!” calls Graeme (Harper, director)
“I think I should do it again,” sighs Billie. “I was so rubbish.”
“Billie,” asks camera operator Roger Pearce, “could you wipe the rain from above your lip?”
“That’s sweat!” she laughs.
“Cover the cast!” says Simon, as another take ends. Billie and Catherine are offered pasties. Billie takes one, but Catherine doesn’t like the way “they stick to the roof of your mouth.”  It’s 1 am.
During one take, when Billie tells Catherine, “You’re going to die”, they disintegrate into laughter and Billie does some dance moves. Wonderful corpsing fun. Somewhere around 1:40am, Catherine mentions that she’s keen to avoid “the EastEnders moment” in this scene - she suggests a change which prevents Donna from keeping her back to Rose while talking to her. To celebrate Catherine’s victory, Billie and Catherine perform the ‘Enders drum-beats together.

“Has anyone seen my wallet?”
“You left in the car last night.”
“I swear, if someone took my jacket-”
“Only you would wear something like that, Tao.”
“Why are all the eggs gone again?”
You groaned at the sudden intrusion of your peaceful sleep, burying your face in the woods-scented pillow. A chuckle rumbled beside you. A pair of lips gently brushed against your temple. Knowing that was your signal to get up, you pushed your face deeper into the sanctuary of sleep.
“(y/n)… you can’t stay here all day.”
“Watch me,” you mumbled.
Arms snaked around your waist, pulling you into a space-heater of a chest. “If we stay here much longer, someone will come looking for us,” Sehun whispered in your ear. “Probably Jongdae or Tao. Or maybe even Baek-”
You whimpered as you flipped over, cutting off the wolf before he could finish the troublemaker’s name. But that didn’t mean you were ready to wake up. It was nice, lying there with him, your cheek pressed up against his collarbone. You felt protected, loved, safe. Granted, that’s how you always felt with Sehun, but in this space and in this moment, you felt it at its maximum. From the way his arms tightened around you and how he leaned down to kiss the still-healing mark he’d indented in your shoulder only a week ago, he was feeling it, too.
“You make it hard to get up,” he sighed. From his tone, he was trying to feign annoyance. Too bad you already knew how much he loved this.
“Then let’s just stay here,” you suggested. This was technically his fault, anyway. He was the one who insisted on staying out late last night. First it was dinner, then a movie, then a long drive through the backwoods. You don’t actually remember coming home as you’d fallen asleep sometime passed one in the morning, still in the passenger’s seat of Sehun’s car.
“Okay,” Sehun mumbled. “Five more minutes.” You felt him settle again beside you, a satisfied rumble vibrating in his throat. You were just about to drift off again when-
Bang! “Alright, time to get up!”
You half-groaned, half-growled at Baekhyun and his ability to be so loud first thing in the morning. Jumping into a sitting position, you grabbed your pillow and threw it as hard as you could across the room. But you missed. The pillow smacked against the wall widely to his right.
“Well, I guess we can count a baseball career out for you,” he cackled.
Narrowing your eyes, you concentrated on the glass of water next to you on the nightstand.
“Hey!” Baekhyun spat out the water that had landed in his mouth when you sent it flying towards his face, soaking his hair and shoulders.
“Maybe next time you’ll think before you try to rouse a sleeping witch.”
Baekhyun muttered under his breath as he stormed out of the room, mostly likely to change into a dry shirt.
Sehun scooted closer to you as he sat up as well, nuzzling your shoulder with his nose. “I don’t think we should risk another messenger.”
“Probably not,” you sighed as you glanced at the now empty glass. “I’m all out of ammo.”
“Oh, I’m sure you could come up with something else.”
Rolling your eyes, you slipped out of bed and over to the dresser. After pulling out a clean shirt and pair of pants, you started to turn back to Sehun. However, before you even made it a quarter of the way, the wolf was already dressed, grabbing your wrist and lifting you up so you were now on his back. Giggles exploded from you as he raced out of the room and down the stairs, creating his own wind with the speed. You held on tight with your arms around his neck, careful not to choke him.
You were still laughing and holding onto him when he reached the kitchen. As per usual, the room was filled practically to the brim with people. Even though you’d been living full time at the farmhouse for over a month (on top of the previous month with Soomi) you still weren’t entirely used to the large amount of people. Thankfully, the second house was nearing completion and the occupancy would be cut in half. The downside, however, is that your getaway would no longer be available to you and Sehun.
“That’s still so weird,” Jongdae stage-whispered to Minseok.
The older wolf leaned back in his chair at the table to get a better look as you hopped down from Sehun’s back. “I think it’s cute.”
You thought that Sehun might send a snarky comment that way given his dislike of the “c” word, but to your surprise, he ignored them, going over to the counter and piling two plates high with food before herding you over to the table.
In front of you was more than enough food to keep you full for the next few hours. As you slowly eat the delicious breakfast that was so kindly prepared by Evie and Ming, you eyed Sehun from the side. He had something up his sleeve, you could feel it. He’d done this before; making sure you had your fill and then taking you out of the house for hours, not coming back until near dinner time.
You knew he did it for you, the alone time. In here, you could hardly turn around without stepping on somebody. So he’d take you where you could breathe again, where you could think without having to start over because someone fell or dropped something or started yelling. You were so used to the quiet and isolation. In the past, you would wish for this opposite. Apparently, the grass really is always greener.
Sehun was finished with his breakfast before you were halfway through your plate. Another indicator that he was up to something since usually he would only be just starting on his meal at this point. It was some primal instinct to make sure his mate was eating enough. At least he wasn’t a food hog.
When his plate was completely clear, Sehun stood up and dumped his dirty dishes in the sink. In a flash he was bounding back up the stairs. Harper, whose baby bump was just starting to show, raised an eyebrow at you questioningly from across the table. All you could do was shrug as you had about as much of a clue as she did.
When he came back, he had your favorite jacket in his hands along with your small backpack. With still no word to you, he filled two thermostats with fresh coffee before coming back over to the table.
“Are you done?” he asked, looking down at your mostly empty plate.
You nodded. “Yeah. Where are we going?”
“It’s a surprise.”
“Maybe I don’t like surprises?”
“You’ll like this one.”
“Says who?”
“Me.”
“I don’t think you’re the authority on that.”
“I’m always the authority.”
“Really? Because I don’t th-”
“Oh, would you two please just go!” Jongdae whined.
You snickered, but did as he asked, getting up from the table and dropping your plate off while giving Evie an apologetic look.
She waved the look away. “Don’t worry about it. Go have fun. I know I’d like to have a nice romantic time in the woods.”
“I heard that.” Kris entered the kitchen with Mei in his arms.
“Just dropping hints,” Evie shrugged.
Kris went over and kissed her chastely. “I’d say that’s more than a hint.”
Taking you away from the scene, Sehun grabbed your hand and pulled you towards the back door. “Come on.”
Outside the wind chilled and bit at your nose. Sehun helped you with your jacket - which helped a bit - and backpack and then motioned for you to climb on his back.
“Still not going to tell me where we’re going?”
“Nope.”
“Of course.”
Sehun took off into the trees before you could respond. Everything blurred by you. There was no telling where he was headed or what he had in mind, so you simply rolled with it. Trying to figure it out was pointless anyway.
He finally came to a stop, breaking through the trees where a large lake sat calmly. With a pat to your thigh, he signaled for you to get down. Small gravel-like pebbles, smoothed by years of being washed by the tide crunched under your feet.
“I didn’t know this was here.” Your eyes wandering over the scenery. Even with the heavy gray skies above and the rippling waters, it was breathtaking.
“Not a lot of people do.” Slipping his fingers through yours, he tugged you a little closer to shore. He sat down and tried to get you to do the same.
“It’s cold,” you complained.
But all he did was smirk at your childish whine. “I’ll keep you warm.”
Well… how could you resist that?
Sitting down in front of him, a shiver ran up your spine as soon as your backside met the rocks. Just as he promised, he wrapped his arms around you and pulled you in close.
“It’s so quiet,” you whispered after a few minutes or so.
“That’s why I brought you here,” Sehun said. “I knew you need it more often than I do. I’ll bring you here whenever you want. The others come occasionally, but not so much anymore.”
Oh, wonderful. You could already feel your insides turning into mush and your eyes filling up with salty water. Twisting your body so you could look back at him, you didn’t even try to fight the smile spreading across your face.
“I love you.”
It was a like firework show exploding on his face. Or the sun finally breaking through the clouds after constant darkness.
You hadn’t been able to make yourself say those three little words to him yet. Though Sehun had no issues saying it, you’d found yourself stopping each time you tried. Was it the timing? The atmosphere? Your fear of commitment?
You couldn’t really say that you had a fear of commitment. Being with Sehun was easy, right. You weren’t scared of being tied to him for the rest of your life. Saying it was too soon almost felt like a cop-out because you knew how you felt about him.
Maybe you wouldn’t ever really know why you hadn’t said it back before. But you finally did and it felt so right.
Ecstatic at that sentence, Sehun pounced on you. Nearly all his weight was on you as you landed hard on the rocks. A soft “ow” escaped before you could stop it, sending Sehun into a panic. “Are you okay? Did I hurt you?”
You smiled up at him before pushing up and kissing him. “I’m fine.”
He sighed with relief. “Good.” He cupped your cheek in him palm and said the words that were obvious in his eyes. “I love you.”
Fate had decided to play around and stick the wolf and the witch together. Mortal enemies by heritage, lovers by bond. It was a story for the ages, one that would echo through time along with the other great loves of history.
“Well, then,” you laughed, “I guess we’re stuck with each other.”
Sehun nodded once before diving in for another kiss.

I haven’t been writing on here a lot because I’ve been over on Facebook with my family and friends more often.  This is because of several changes in my life that are making me feel like I need the assistance of people I know even moreso than usual.
So here’s what’s up.
In better times, I live with my two kids, four cats, and lovely partner, @commodorebuzzkill.  Then along comes covid.  I’m still working from home, Michigan goes into lockdown, and he starts staying home because restaurants aren’t open.  He takes on the bulk of keeping the kids on task for schoolwork and we make it through the school year.
But...then the restaurant opens up  (actually a week before school ends).  He extends his leave so he can keep the kids on task for their final week, but...I’ve got an autoimmune disorder.  We have to make the choice to either find a way to essentially have him shower outside, not touch his clothes on anything, and pray he doesn’t somehow pick up covid at work OR he moves out.  Because of the risk to me (and to one of my kids)...he moved out.
And so here comes the point of this post.
Ever since this began, essential workers have been making these decisions with their families, medical professionals especially.  Now it has expanded to others because people with disposable income want their everyday luxuries again.  Because entitled people think they need to go to restaurants and to get their hair cut and to go to wherever else people who actually have money go.  And so another entire body of workers has to make the choice- when there is an at risk person at home (and a large number of poor working class people do or are themselves), do you go back to work?  Do you risk them or themselves?
And now in Michigan, the numbers are spiking and our section of the state has backslid into a higher risk category (we were stage 4, now we are stage 3) and we are betting that it will be even worse in a few weeks with all the people flocking to Lake Michigan beaches.  Meanwhile, he’s still at the restaurant.  I don’t blame the owner for needing to stay open to try to save his restaurant.  If everyone around him was open and not him, the patrons would find other locales and flee, or if he didn’t have dine-in open, people would just bail to those places instead of taking carry-out.  He’s making the best decisions he can amongst a slate of shitty decisions.  Full time employees have benefits, those who aren’t back on full time because of covid still have them, have had them the entire time they were off, and are able to be on partial unemployment.  They all wear masks and the restaurant is trying really hard to be both open and as safe as it can be.
But why are we open at all?  Why, when things are still bad and infections are again rising, aren’t we shutting down again?  I’m tired of my family being a sacrifice to the all-holly economy because people who don’t have as much to lose want to be going to restaurants.  I have a LOT riding on this.  My kids haven’t even been back and forth to their dad’s since early April because my son and I are both at risk- and since that time, their dad’s girlfriend has given birth to their twin siblings who my kids have only seen for a few minutes.  Their other sister in that household has also turned one.  And my kids missed it.  Until a few weeks ago, they had no one outside of this house- now their grandmother, who is as isolated as we are, is able to come over.  But they now lost another adult, my partner, who was a steady in their life throughout this and I’m working while trying to keep them from fighting constantly while I’m at my desk or on Zooms or whatever.  I can’t make up that play time and I certainly can’t be him for them.
So when you cheer about getting to go out to your favourite wherever or to your hairdresser or to wherever, remember there are families like mine that are giving up a lot in order for you to have those luxuries.  Remember that every time someone bitches about a mask or wants to flout wearing them, they are the reason my family is separated.
And in these times of stress, all I want is a goddamned hug or snuggle from my partner and I can’t do that because of a fucking virus we can’t contain because people are selfish and greedy and we have to have an economy based on people spending money on things that aren’t necessities.
I am angry, I am exhausted (I am always on edge and not sleeping much), and I am saddened that people are so entitled we couldn’t just shut down and kill this thing right off like we should have from the beginning.  I’m harbouring a lot of unspecified and un-targeted rage.  I know it’s a part of grief and that’s the primary focal emotion here.  But there is no acceptance happening.  Just a lot of pissed off me.
SO.
Fuck the economy.
Fuck covidiots who won’t wear a mask or take this seriously or go to Harper’s (really?!?) or host parties or are in the street right now shooting off fireworks (in a dry spell- my mum put out a grassfire already once today) and are refusing to actually understand that this virus is KILLING PEOPLE.
And fuck every government official and lobbyist who are pressuring for a faster reopening.
