Hello! If you don't mind answering, what are your thoughts on Rogue only mentioning Gambit during E.7 ? It felt weird after all these episodes and exploration of their relationship.

Well... I try not to put too much thought into it. Overall Bright Eyes felt like a moment of transition towards the finale (with an absolute kick-ass Rogue). I am happy they had an episode that showcased a part of what Rogue was going through after Genosha, because, as Amelia Vogh said - 'a survivor is the last thing I’d wanna be.’ So Rogue has a lot to process: the guilt and grief over losing Gambit, the uncertainty and anxiety around Magneto and well, the death of so many people around her. Remember what Magneto said? “We shall not live our days wondering if we could’ve saved more.” Rogue is doing just that - and it's hell.

About Rogue focusing just on Gambit - it makes sense. She held his body in her arms. That moment is with her probably every time she closes her eyes. The way I see it, there are two reasons why the focus has been only on expressing her feelings for Remy.

1. It might be just the way it is. Rogue and Gambit will always be 'the couple'. More so for TAS. They are one of the most well-known and popular Marvel couples so, after the drama was done, the writers needed to pull that ship back on course. It was always going to be like that and I'll be here for the ride. Not everything in media has to be written to match my preferences. Plus, the show has kept both of them in character and written them exceptionally well so far. Especially with Gambit, I am grateful for the care they put into portraying him, because in comics it's such a mess, depending on who's writing him. So I am expecting the focus to be on Rogue and Gambit from now on.

2. The other reasoning (from a media literacy perspective), and the one I prefer -  is that she's processing. It might turn out to be true or it might not - the show will tell us. But at this moment it does look like that. Grief, guilt, shock. First of all, in Magneto's case, there was no body. The rule is until the search is called off, if there is no body, there is no death confirmation. So Rogue is struggling to accept it. What she knows is that Remy is dead - that is a reality she cannot avoid and it consumes her. On the other hand she was refusing to face the possibility that Erik was also gone. Then Kurt made it real. In the privacy of that moment between them he said what she wasn't allowing herself to think or accept: that she lost more than one person she cared about. Secondly, also why it makes that moment with Kurt so much more heavy, is that no one else in the team knows of the emotional connection she has with Erik. Everyone who knew the depths (Gambit and, in parts, Madelyne) are dead. I don't think Rogue can voice her grief in front of the rest without an explanation. She can however channel it through Gambit’s loss. What is worse is that her feelings for Gambit are now intertwined with a lot of guilt, and she probably feels like she has failed him in particular. And it breaks my heart. I don’t think that’s fair towards her and I am not particularly a fan of that, but X-men has often times put drama ahead of character development. 

So is it the first one? Is it the second one? Who knows, maybe it’s a bit of column A, a bit of column B. But there is one thing that I would have liked the episode to show more of: I wanted to see Rogue processing what it meant for her to survive Genosha, to survive the genocide. I care more about that, about her humanity, her struggles and convictions, unrelated to the romantic aspects. Romance is not the ultimate form of love, and it doesn’t have to be the most intense display of love either.

Oh I am *cackling* at the producers trying to claim the show was driven by Loki and Sylvie's relationship when she refused to lift a finger to help multiple times (while platonic bestie Mobius was living out romcom moments by the dozen with Loki), and honestly they could have not had her in the season at all and barely anything would change. I just finished reading Fourth Wing after picking it up because of all the hype, and because I love dragons, and... I have to say it's the worst book I've read in quite a while lmao. the dragons were its only redeeming quality

I wouldn't say I have one canon (non-romantic) character dynamic in particular that I would consider my favorite, but I can list a few of them in no particular order:

-Polnareff and Abdul (I also think the ship is pretty cute)

-Diavolo and Doppio (I find this one the most fun to think & talk about for obvious reasons)

-Trish and Bruno

-Yasuho and Josuke (8) (this one was sort of implied-romantic, but I'll count it)

-Josuke (4) and Okuyasu

-Jolyne, Foo Fighters & Hermes

I also really would've liked to see what an interaction between Doppio and Trish would've looked like- both of them were criminally underused and it's a shame.

I get very excited about character dynamics, but I don't really care much for romantic ships myself either. When I say I "like" a ship, most of the time what I mean by that is if a mutual or friend is into it, I'll nod and give a thumbs up from the sidelines or maybe think "oh, that's kind of cute, sure". The only times I get the "shippy" feelings that I assume are the main appeal of shipping is if I care about one or preferably both characters very, very much, which just doesn't happen often. (Also, I get kind of irrationally territorial about characters I care about to that level, so I'd probably only trust ship art from me and a few people lol.)

unpopular opinion but a ship being queer coded doesn't make it compelling

#the dynamic between the characters‚ on another hand‚ does! #sometimes ships from certain media are carried by 'queer coding' instead of being relevant because of the actual relationship #that‚ to me‚ means very little #what does it matter if their colours compliment each other or that their names are intended to hint at something if the relationship in #the story fails to portray anything romance-like or their dynamic is just poorly written? #i could go on a tangent here because this is coming from me wanting to rant about a specific genshin ship but i will shut up #i just want to be a hater #i don't even hate the ship itself it's the fans who take scenes out of context and depth from the characters to make the narrative fit #also the constant idea in fandoms that friendships/platonic relationships can't have depth or be the reason someone cares deeply for #somebody else. or even the idea platonic feelings can't be complicated. #i think it's also hard for me to swallow every genshin ship because it's obvious they use queer coding without compromise as a way to #profit with both the staights and the lgbts but whatever #yes i am aware of the censorship but i'm also aware they're a multi-millionaire company that keeps repeating the same 'formula' #for marketing everytime new characters are released... and it works. #genshin will never be as gay as actual gay media from gay creators and i think people have a hard time grasping that #a bit unrelated to my original point but also not really because i do think it influences the way people interact with the story #i'm not trying to say people can't have fun by the way 😂 #this all started because i dislike a popular ship and that makes you feel like you're somehow missing a few screws #how come i'm the only right person here 🤣 (joking)

Are yandere headcanons about characters like sonic really weird and discomforting to anyone else or is it just me

#ramblings #like. his whole thing is that he values freedom over anything #and he doesn't take that freedom from anyone away. ESPECIALLY if it's someone he loves #he also just. doesn't care about romance in the slightest #making him an obsessive lovesick person is like. completely ignoring his character #i don't like it #tbh yandere stuff in general makes me uncomfy so it's worse if it's applied to sonic #i blocked a couple of blogs bc they made these kinds of headcanons about sonic characters #so i don't have to worry about seeing that stuff a lot anymore #but still #i think it's also uncomfortable to me bc most sonic characters including sonic himself are teens/kids #so it's weird to make them that way #idk i just saw a post about yandere headcanons #and it made me think back to some yandere headcanon posts i saw in the sonic tag #that made me feel uncomfortable #would prefer if you don't reblog this one i just wanted to talk about this

i ship saigenos in an extremely platonic, "saitama is aroace, genos is trans and they are roommates, each other's anchors, best friends, mentor-student, soulmates, family, spend every waking moment of the day together, go to bed in futons right next to each other, if one has to go out they return home to the other" way but i also think genos has an itty bitty crush on saitama but wont do anything about it because he thinks being a hero & learning from saitama matters more. hope this helps.
