As eerie as the Monument Mythos are, they're surreal and mystique, it's like dark ambience, they don't have this evilness and outright terror as opposed to other series. It's like the stories have eternal layers, with each we see, there's more for the eyes. The stories are connected somehow yet seems to be unique in their own ways
Other horrors are great, I like the fucking terrifying imagery of unspeakable horror, but sometimes horror can be pretty comforting
Btw AMERICAN ANATOMY is great though, I love watching Alex's old works. This guy really has dozens of morbidly creative ways to portray his Country
Reminds me of a short Analog Horror made by a native in my country which is about my Country's mythology and culture, it's in my language and it's a rough pilot for now, it's called Nymp Syndrome and I have hope for it to be continued. The Analog Horror in my country isn't all that well-developed since it's still a new concept for Creators but I saw some promising stuff and I hope I'll see some innovative Analog Horror medias in the future
Btw have you seen Dominoverse? It's really good
I honestly couldn't have said it better myself. Horror can be such an incredible thing, especially when it balances it's horror (in whichever from it takes, whether it be outright terror or something more subtle) with other themes. And those are the ones that can really stick with you after you watch them because it's more than just scares, it's a sort of experience. Over the Garden Wall is probably one of my favorite examples of this. It's such a comforting show to me, but the show's message pertains a lot to the ideas of death and fear of the unknown. It's the kind of horror that's not at the forefront, yet it's still there and it can really pull at you if you're thinking about it. Skinamarink is another good one; it leans more into the horror aspect than OTGW, but like The Thing its horror is more suspense related and the terror that comes with the seemingly familiar since Skinamarink deals with that sort of childhood fear of the dark. These are some of the reasons that horror is one of my all-time favorite genres. They can confront some of the most complex aspects of fear or even humanity in general, and they can bring these messages about in a way that sticks with you long after you finish watching them.
As for Dominoverse, I'd never even heard of it until I looked it up for this ask. I gave the first episode a look though and it definitely seems interesting, so I'll definitely give the rest of the playlist a watch. Also I'm glad that you've got an analog horror short that uses your country's culture and mythology. When a specific media relates to your culture specifically and it's done well, it's really something special. Even though it's still a new concept, I hope you get more good analog horror in that vein!
Ellie, during one of her stints of what do I do with my life right now, decides to, with the help of her Original Dad-Person (Look he’s aging and she’s not and it gets less questions the older he gets if he says daughter instead of sister with how the Fentons are getting older too) creates a Boo-Tube channel. No, not a Youtube channel, those are stuck to a single dimension.
Bootube on the other hand? Due to being through the Realms (and wow is Tucker getting so much income from creating it) is interdimensional. Which is so cool honestly. And she doesn’t know what to do at first, and honestly there’s already so many travel blogs that she kind of just… decided to do something that she wished someone had done for her and her brothers and Danny when she was new to the world.
So she creates the channel CAAW: Clone Awareness, Accommodations, and Welfare. They had to learn things through trial and error, but maybe she can help someone out there learn how to find their own selves, or even help someone not melt.
Man “Battle Nexus: New York” was a great episode but I do have one major gripe with it.
Like. Raph being paired up with Ghostbear? Makes sense. Works great. Works amazing, even.
Mikey being paired up with Meatsweats? Yeah that checks out!!
Donnie getting…Hypno…? I mean. I guess Donnie doesn’t like magic so it kindaaa works but Kendra would have been a much better choice to me personally. Maybe Big Mama didn’t wanna include a human or something…
And Leo getting…uh…one of the Sando Brothers???? Of all villains? Nah let’s be real, his main villain is more Big Mama herself (or Leo could be considered his own worst enemy lmao-). Hell Hypno would have probably worked better here considering their shared love for magic tricks and stuff, but Carl Sando????
Thinking again about the fact that when Eddie and Dustin finally convince Steve to play DnD with the party, all of them, but especially Eddie, quickly become exasperated with Steve who has extremely high charisma, and decides that he can fix almost any situation by flirting with whoever they were in conflict with. Especially the fucking monsters, this man is bound and determined to himself a monster boyfriend and until it happens, he will make every single person they come across fall in love with him. So naturally, this happens a lot:
Steve: I’m going to flirt with them
Eddie, exasperated: Steve, you can’t date this monster, he’s trying to kill you-
The fact that Main-verse Ooo is as good and as kind as it is (relative to the other universes shown so far, at least, it's obviously not perfect) all because of the same character that starts off as the OG series' antagonist, the person we were made to see as the bad guy (albeit an often ineffectual one) for several seasons, is making me lose my mind.
Imagine finding out the guy you spent your childhood beating up and saving princesses from is in fact a driving catalyst behind you being able to exist, and not only exist but also live in a world that knows what kindness is. All because that man, the same man who you've witnessed do terrible things, once met a little girl and taught her how to be good.
Simon's story really shows us that even if you lose your way and forget how it is to be good yourself, the world keeps the memory for you. That act of love Simon showed Marcy by protecting her and seeing her as more than the monster she thought herself to be created ripples upon ripples, small at first but eventually enough to help give their wreckage of a world—a world that easily could have been forsaken, its goodness overlooked because of its inhospitable remains—a chance to grow into something beautiful. Because of those very same ripples Simon created, the people of Ooo grew up in a world where they know enough about kindness that they were able and willing to spare the 'bad guy' some, to see beyond the wreckage and allow him to grow too.
In saving Marceline, Simon helped to not only to save the world, but also himself.
Even though Bakugou is a fairly large man, he loves to lay on you. Despite your complaining and groaning of him crushing you into the sheets and bedding beneath you, he knows you secretly love it. Love how his weight becomes a weighted blanket for you, how his chest against yours helps steady your breathing until it’s synchronized.
His favorite position when you’re both laying in bed watching tv, is when he curls around you. Throws a heavy leg over both of yours to trap you, one arm curled under you to wrap around your waist, the other drawing absent patterns on your soft tummy. His face rests on your chest, stubbly cheek scratching against your breast from where the fat of it is exposed in his too big tank top.
He mumbles his opinions about the trash movie you’re watching, turns his face and groans into your skin when something cliche and awful happens. It makes you laugh and run your fingers through his spiky mane, pulling at the hair on his nape to show that you want a kiss from his pouty lips.
Also loves to lay on you whenever you lay on your stomach, completely knocks the wind from your chest. You huff out a wheezed sound, and even if you try to push up on your arms to try and peel him off of you, he still doesn’t budge. Just groans into your neck about disturbing his rest, how your weak little chicken arms might snap if you don’t just stop and let him smother you until his decompression is over.
“Cmon, big guy, I can’t breathe here,” you’ll grunt to him, reaching a hand back to keep tapping at his exposed hip. He treats you like a mere little fly though, swatting you away before he finally sits up and off of you. Doesn’t last long though, as he only flips you over until you’re laid flat on your back, and he’s flopping on top of you again. He’s just a big baby.
YES I am!! Sorry friends for dropping off the face of the earth, I got a job and I had to move and it was a lot. But I am less stressed now and I hope I can get back to posting more regularly!! I really missed it (ノ^ヮ^)ノ*:・゚✧
I will never leave tumblr because there is no other place on the internet where I can tell people that 80% of the time when I try to introduce myself to someone in the office that I haven’t met yet I get so focused on smiling and holding eye contact that I forget the part where I actually have to introduce myself (°□°)
sometimes i just want to cry over mulder’s fish and the way that we see both scully and doggett go to his apartment and feed them during the months he was missing and the fact that scully must have kept feeding them even months after he was dead and just to be loved so much that people come tend to your environment and keep your home and feed your fish long after you’re gone
and that the first thing he notices when he comes back is that one isn’t there. and how scully tried so hard, she tried so hard to find him and to keep him safe and to keep his work going and to keep those damn fish alive, and the first thing that he says to her when they walk back into that apartment is that one is missing
the way that in that scene, he says that he’s having trouble processing, that he doesn’t know where he fits in. you can be loved so much that multiple people come feed your fish and maintain your apartment after you’re buried in the ground, you can try so hard to keep everything going for someone else, but the world keeps spinning, and time goes on. fish die and baby bumps grow and answered prayers aren’t always miracles
he came back covered in scars to a clean apartment and a fish tank missing 1 molly and where does he fit in inside a world that hasn’t waited for him, no matter how hard she tried to make it stop
cant scribble it out bc its too Involved but here's a Laughingstock thought that just feels Right:
im imagining them sitting down and going through a list of pet names to use for each other. like Howdy has a clipboard, Barnaby's sitting across the counter, they're going through the list and striking out the ones that don't work. playfully teasing each other about certain suggestions, losing it over a Bit where they try to call each other the names in the most sickeningly sweet lovey-dovey voices and see who cracks first, mutually making fun of some options, getting flustered when they find one they like. yeah <3
Its funny that I could feel my WH hyperfixation slowly morph into just my genuine special interest. I worried at first, cause I thought my love for it had died. Because it was duller.
But no no. Now it sits comfortably and idly in my mind. Unshaken. Comfortable. At home.
This is a surprise. Normally there is sleeping and then there is awakening, nothing in between. He lingers in the middle, confused but also… content.
It feels like meditating, he thinks, and without thought Leo’s breath slips into that familiar pattern. He allows his awareness to spread out.
Almost immediately he finds you. You are sprawled across his plastron, one arm flung across his waist and the other under your head over his heart. The softest snores are coming out of your mouth.
He has to remind himself to breathe, to slip back into his meditative state. It is harder than he thinks it should be.
At one point that had been a very sore subject for him, the way you disturbed his calm without even thinking about it. Now, though. Now he understands that some emotions are too strong to be fully curbed, that love is meant to disturb as often as it calms.
Now, he curves slightly into you even as he continues to meditate, breathing in your scent. There. That's the source of his contentment. You are the source of his contentment.
He meditates for some time, reflecting on you and on love. The highs and the lows, the agonies and the ecstasies. His quiet contemplation is interrupted by you, causing a smile to cross his face at the irony.
You nuzzle into his plastron slightly as you slowly start to wake. He opens his eyes and looks down to find that you've turned your head and opened your own eyes, a sleepy smile on your face.
He reaches out and brushes his thumb gently across your lips, cupping your cheek. You turn into his palm, giving it a small kiss as you stretch.
"Good morning princess," he whispers, and you mumble back as you curl farther into him.
His heart is full as the two of you prepare to begin your day together.
