Danse macabre is also known as dance of death.

For more specific definitions, danse macabre "is a 15th-century conceit, both pictorial and textual, of the humbling power of death." "It depicts people from all social stations dancing to, or around, the grave with Death as their guide." [Source]

In more classical manifestations, "it is a literary or pictorial representation of a procession or dance of both living and dead figures, the living arranged in order of their rank, from pope and emperor to child, clerk, and hermit, and the dead leading them to the grave." [Source]

As with any of the other prompts we have, the interpretation of this concept is entirely up to you. Feel free to explore the many meanings a "dance of death" can have, either in a wider sense or the more traditional conception of it.

Update from Mod Sam:

Hi all, it's been a really long time since I had any sort of free time. I have no idea how to update the Mod descriptions on this blog bc I'm at a different spot in my life than when I first joined as a moderator, lol, but this was my first real day to myself in what felt like years. It might have actually been years since I got to engage with this blog.

The main thing that made it overwhelming was trying to come up with new Daily Affirmations, because it got to a point where it seemed like everything had been done and I just couldn't think of anymore, so even when I'd get a few hours here and there it seemed like if I couldn't make those, I couldn't contribute in a good enough way.

But I would really like to keep up with this blog again and just not write those, I think it can be a really positive space for arospec people without that pressure-- my understanding was that this blog was created as a space people could escape the negativity, exclusionism, and amatonormativity, that the posts were to be more focused on being affirming/comforting/safe and inclusive. So, I'm really happy to get to work on this blog again, because other than that one stress, it always felt comforting to create the kind of space I wish we had in society. A place where we are cared for regardless of our arospec orientation and don't have to deal with the constant pressures from outside sources to be different than we are.
