Meet Eris the Accursed, original character concept done by me.

I got the idea for this character when I was somehow pulled back into the Sofia the First fandom after what feels like years. Writing it all down may help with getting it out of my system 😎

A TDLR of what is listed below;

Eris is essentially a sorceress who can no longer cast magic traditionally. Instead, she uses her talents to dispel outbreaks of curses that appear in various kingdoms. While she serves a valuable role, she is widely looked down upon for her unsavory work with rumors spreading around her which makes her quite infamous. Eris however, couldn't care less about the treatment unless it directly impacts her from getting jobs done.

More detailed info below~

As said in the shortened summary, Eris is a sorceress. Or was, at least. She never got to claim that title for herself as a tragic accident befell her at only five years old. After the incident, she was never able to properly use magic again, despite being initially considered gifted, and was never able to officially finish sorcery training.

This event had not only rendered Eris unable to use wands (without them breaking with even the simplest spells), but had cursed her as well. The curse in particular was dormant however. So the only penalty Eris appeared to face was not being able to use wands anymore.

Eris was born to two powerful magic users. Her mother in particular was especially beloved for putting on elaborate flashy shows with her magical talents. However, after getting pregnant with Eris, she fell incredibly ill. It was an undiagnosable illness that seemed to only worsen up until Eris was born. On the day of her birth, Eris' mother had left the world.

Due to her mother's death, Eris' relationship with her still living father had been strained from birth. He resented her as much as he missed his dead wife. It was not until he found a way to use Eris that he began to tolerate her. Seeing as how Eris was able to handle curses gave him a bright idea to use her to his benefit.

Although she was a hardworking student at a prestigious sorcery academy, Eris was an easy target for bullying and mockery. She couldn't do spells without destroying wands, and despite not using them for that fact, she was instead ridiculed by not being able to use magic at all. Even when showing great promise in alchemy and memorizing details from lessons, other students refused to socialize with her and even most teachers kept their distance. At age 10, Eris made the decision to leave the school as she thought there was no use for her to be there any longer.

From then onwards, Eris devoted her life to the research and act of dispelling curses, influenced by her father who pushed her into doing so. It leads her to a rather lonely life as she is often traveling from place to place as she takes up freelance work as one of the world's only renowned curse exorcists. Unfortunately, despite doing good deeds by getting rid of the curses, it is seen as a rather icky and immoral matter to people and ended up giving her the title "the Accursed" because people associate her with all manner of curses.

Even though others look down at her or with disgust, Eris remains indifferent about how she is treated. She does not hold back when making passive aggressive remarks about someone if they continue to pester her, most of the time these remarks will fly over their heads. Still she is not one without a heart as many would seem to believe. She has a special softness for animals even though they too, are wary of her due to the vibe she gives off.

Outside of her curse work, her hobbies include: reading fictional books, fencing and drinking rare teas.

Part of me feels like if this gets even the slightest bit of positive feedback, my motivation will be heightened to start up another fanfiction, featuring the character mentioned above. (Not like I already have a really good general idea of how the fanfiction would go, haha) 😅

Alas, I succumbed to the treasure island fandom and made a character (no not a self insert).

This is Lady Katherine Divine. Being the high class owner of a local burlesque club, Lady Divine prioritizes her business and the safety of her workers above anything else. She’s a very social, headstrong and sassy woman who enjoys being attractive to people. Although she can be seen as quite arrogant and vain, she genuinely cares for her girls. she used to be a hopeless romantic when she was younger. But she had gotten with a lot of phonies, a lot of men who used her. So Lady Divine said “Fuck it” and she stayed single after her shitty husband died.

"Do you like your serial number?" they ask. "Yes, quite. It reminds me of who I am" the robot replies. "I have heard others like me go by different names after some time, and maybe one day I'll choose one for myself, too. But right now that is my full name, yes" they continue.

Because it's not your decision to make whether or not the robot will receive a new name. It should be theirs only. What's the difference? One is more complex and the other is simplified. They were both given by strangers instead of themselves.

"62 will do," they conclude. "It's my model number - there will be no other 62 after me."
