I love the idea of vox aftercare and all that fluff/fluffy stuff sm OMGG
a/n — yes omg i love fluff with vox because let’s be real i don’t think he has fluffy experiences often.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vox fell back on to bed breathless and panting while you crawled next to him.
“You did so good,” you said, planting a kiss on the area where his cheek would be. He whined softly, still coming down from his high.
It took a few more moments for him to come to his senses and notice the uncomfortable stickiness on and around him, along with the ache in certain areas of his neck and thighs that were littered in dozens of hickeys.
He groaned as he went to get up, dreading the process of cleaning up and then leaving. That’s when you gently pushed his chest back onto the bed.
He looked up at you confused, before blinking,“Um— I’m a little checked out for the night.” He explained and he rolled his neck trying to distract from the hurt.
“What? Oh, oh no, Vox, that’s not—“ You try to explain before sitting up further on the bed. “Just let me clean up for you, baby. I think I went a little hard on you today,” you cross your arm around your other elbow to stretch, crack your knuckles and get off the bed.
“Oh,” Vox was slightly taken aback. Usually when he got laid it was never really about him. Valentino, for example, was more of a fuck and run situation.
There was never much aftercare. Never much he didn’t have to do himself, at least. He started to hoist himself off the bed, his body was sore though he had to stop himself from hissing in pain.
“Look it’s fine, I can just take my shit and—“
“Sit down, Vox.” You command from the other room, “You let yourself be taken care of in bed and you can do it now.”
“That’s different,” he tried. Honestly, he really did see it that way.
“Mhm, and you’re being very brave about it,” you tease, coming back in the other room with all sorts of things; new sheets, an ice pack, and a warm, damp washcloth.
You sit next to him on the bed and begin to clean up.
“Does it hurt?” you inquire, pointing to the bruises on his neck.
“Well you did sink your teeth into the softest parts of my body so, you could imagine,” he felt bad for giving you so much attitude, so he finished the sentence with a teasing smile.
“Yeah, I bet,” You raise your head high as if to show how proud of yourself you are.
Vox’s eye roll is cut off when you placed the ice pack to the back of his neck.
“Fuck,” he winced slightly. You placed your hand on his thigh and rubbed comfortingly, kissing him on the side of his screen.
“Sorry, baby. Here keep icing that,” you say before getting up.
“Where are you going?” Vox asked, slightly scared of your leaving, even though he couldn’t place why.
You left the door to the bedroom open and walked into your kitchen. “Nowhere,” you answer, retrieving two mugs from your cupboard, “How do you like your tea?”
“I don’t. I hate tea,” he called, getting comfortable on the bed as he moved the ice to his thighs. “I prefer coffee, black, if you can,” he paused, realizing his tone, “but you don’t have too.”
For some reason he didn’t want to be difficult towards you after everything you’ve done for him tonight. You’ve exceeded in meeting his needs and now, even after sex, took care of him.
“I—“ you can’t help but laugh at his request. “Vox it’s the middle of the night. You want coffee?” You snickered.
“Well, I didn’t think you would judge me for it,” he picked up on your unserious tone and matched it to the best of his abillities.
“And black coffee at that,” you smiled, “that’s absolute insanity.”
“Yes, we’re literally in hell and that’s insanity,” Vox couldn’t hold back a smile when you came in the room.
His heart fluttered when he saw what is in your hands, one cup of green tea along with the black coffee he requested. You listened to him, actually listened to him.
He didn’t really know why he felt a sudden rush of affection towards you. After all, it was just coffee. But you had heard him, after the joke was over, and you still catered to his needs.
Something Valentino would never do.
“One cup of, far superior tea, and one cup of—“ you made a fake gagging noise as you sat down, “—far less superior, bitter black coffee.”
As you put the mugs on the bed side table, you sat down next to Vox and spread your arms out, welcoming him in.
For some reason, Vox found himself eager to be held by you, to be appreciated and loved more. He hesitated for a moment before gladly accepting the offer.
In a moment he buries himself deep in your chest, your arms wrap around him and rub his back.
You lean down and kiss the top of his screen, “still sore, sweetie?”
He felt his screen heat up at the pet name. “Yes,” he simply said, despite the strong coffee he grew drowsy in your arms.
Especially with you rubbing up and down his back with your nails in such a soft demeanor.
“I’m sorry if I went to hard on you, baby,” you spoke barley above a whisper, as if noticing the fact that exhaustion finally kicked in for Vox.
“mhm, ‘ts fine. It was good,” he mumbled, using his hands to pull you closer to him by your shirt.
“You did so well for me, by the way,” you cooed in his ear. “took everything so nice. I really do think you’re amazing.”
Vox hummed quietly, feeling his screen once again heat up from your nice words. He still clung to you, desperately. If he were less tired, the praise might even get him going again.
But it was the intimacy you were displaying now that was comforting him into a deep, deep sleep.
Tumblr media
a/n — i really hope my vague guesses on vox and val’s relationship were right bc i haven’t see the new episodes so… fingers crossed?
also i feel like i paint val out to be the only toxic one in the relationship. No, vox definitely is a manipulative problem too but of course val has affected him just as much yknow?
just to clarify—
hope you enjoyed the fic <3

i feel like eren luvs backshots like seeing y/n crying from overstimulation and his aggression. Hands all over her ass or holding her wrists behind her back to keep her from pushing him away like ughsjdjd i luv them so much
godddd, cannot believe I missed this when it was first sent but baby, lemme get into it. 🫠🫠
because I am a firm believer that eren is a HUGE bully in bed when he wants to be. Like sure, he’s sweet, always praising you and telling you how pretty you look. Even giving amazing aftercare but when he’s in that mood? (especially if he’s jealous or you’ve pissed him off bad enough 😭) Oh, you’re in for a hell of a night. I’m talking he’s putting you in every position, making you tap even though it does not a bit of good. “Baby, okaaay..okay! I’m sorry..” patting at his abs before he just forces your hand to the mattress and mocks you. “So? I’m supposed to care. Shut up and take this fucking dick, baby. I don’t need no apology.” Aggressively handling you, even adding a couple slaps as he pounds into your core. Making light pulses into the pit of your stomach, forming a bulge in the process. And he always talks so much shit while he’s in it. “Matter of fact, flip over. Put that ass in the air and spread that shit open.” Commanding you to reposition on all fours and grasp your asscheeks, tugging them apart. Your brand new nails on display on that sweat slicked skin. That pretty pastel pink contrasting with the beautiful dark complexion. “Yeah, just like that. Don’t move either.” Just then, you felt him cup your wrists together with one firm grasp and next thing you knew, cold metal and fluffy fur grazed your delicate skin. The pink handcuffs he had copped you as a gift a while back. “So you can listen. I told you to drop that fucking attitude earlier and you ain’t do shit but run that mouth. What changed, princess? Hmm?” Taunting you relentlessly as he teased your clammy folds with his tip without skipping a beat. Watching you writhe underneath his towering frame..tugging you back against his pelvis and his thumb pressed into your asshole. “..made this lil’ pussy cream and feel good so now you have some sense..isn’t that right?” amidst his shit talking, it wasn’t lost on you that he was slowly but surely gliding in, filling you to the brim with that throbbing cock. Your eyes trailing backwards the second it made place between the warmth of that wet cunt. Smacking noises and frothy stickiness forming on instinct. It were as if no matter how angry you were at him, your head, heart and heat were all on different wavelengths. “Yes, daddy! I’m so sorry..fuckkk. Can I come, please?” Whimpering in a frail like tone, wringing your bound hands, grasping on nothing more than air. Completely futile and pointless but you were hoping for relief as those thrusts picked up speed and depth. Instead, all you got were heavy handed smacks and cruel laughs..along with more dick than you could handle.
“Don’t be stupid, princess. Only good girls get to nut on this dick. We’ll see if you earn it after another two rounds.”

hii babes! thank you so much! and yes you did it perfectly!
3, 22, and 27 = please kiss me, show me how much you need me, and do you think you deserve this?
bully!eren x nerd!reader
cw: dom!reader, pussy eating, sex in a classroom, squirting, whiny eren, and eren has a weird way of showing his feelings, reader wears glasses
Tumblr media
leaning against the cold locker you picked at your nails, bored as ever.
as your glasses slid and halt at the end of your nose, you shake them back up just to see a face not inches away from yours
"shit!" you gasp, sliding up on the locker you were leaning on as he corners you in
"what the fuck are you doing?" he snarls, your features twist as you try and remember a time you pissed off eren intentionally
"what do you mean?" you relax, feeling angrier than frightened until he slams a hand onto the locker next to you, successfully closing you in
"last weeks quiz" he answers simply. you feel your shoulders tense as you recall him cheating off you, it's nothing new, except...well...you failed.
"you don't flunk quizzes, y/n." his jaw clenches down, eyes burning wholes straight through your frames
"well thank you" you chuckle, hiding how you desperately want to get out of this situation with humor
"don't try and be a smart ass now."
"what was so fucking fascinating you failed us both?" he asked, you were hoping he'd think you put the wrong answers on purpose and just erased them at the end. because that would've been a lot better from the truth.
"i-" you tuck your bottom lip in, fuck, you're probably so red right now
"holy shit" he remarks, you feel yourself sinking into the metal behind you as he barks laughter into your face "who was getting you so hot and bothered?" he asks, you turn away from him as you refuse to play into his torture
"oh, don't say it was-"
"armin."
eren was obviously taken aback by your statement, thinking it was him you'd be so distracted by. he felt the warmth pool to his cheeks before he could even digest what you just said
"oh." he slips out, disappointment thick on his tongue as your head shoots up from the lack of teasing
"what's so good about armin?" his question shocks you but you scoff before crossing your arms and looking up at him
"okay, well, first of all, he's not a dick...he's extremely smart, handsome, and-" suddenly you're being pushed to the room next to you, stumbling into the vacant art class
"what the hell" another pull and you're against the wall with his lips on yours, once you process what's happening you push him off you immediately
"eren! what the fuck!" you snap, wiping your lips off as heat pools your cheeks
"fuck- I'm sorry I-" he stutters over his words, placing a hand over his eyes to delete himself from this conversation
"what's...wrong with you?" you say a little more genuinely, eren...just kissed you? and now is, what...embarrassed about it?
"y/n, please I'm just- youstartedgoingoffaboutarminandimsorry" he says in one breath as you stand there, shocked.
soon you spit out a laugh, not taking him seriously until you watch him stare at the floor with shame
"oh, you're- you're serious?" you say through tears while walking towards him.
"so you being an absolute dick to be for the past, what, four months was just an act?" you yell,
"I'm sorry" "do you know how much you embarrassed me? made me look like an idiot?"
"do you think you deserve this? me?" you coo, going up to him as you even notice tears forming in his eyes
"aw, now you're gonna fucking cry" you taunt at him and he looks up at you finally. your eyes moving to his red ones, glossy and plump from the kiss you shared not moments before
"no, I wouldn't deserve you" he chokes out, you feel warmth pool in your panties. uncomfortably shifting as you decide to take a turn with this altercation
"show me..." you whisper, he stares at you, confused as you speak up again with more force
"show me how much you need me" his eyes blow as you move to kiss him, hands cupping his tan cheeks as your glasses squish into his face, your lips lap together frantically as you move to undo the belt he has on
with that, he follows and strips you of your jeans and spins you around, laying on the desk
moving to your soaked panties he rips them off hurriedly and moves to lick up your pussy, you've always heard the tall tales of the monster cock and unworldly fucking but never gave it the time of day, now you're living it.
your back arches against the glossed desk as you feel yourself unwinding already.
"fuck, eren" you moan out, moving to grip your own tit through your shirt as he continues to suck your clit until your cream spills on his face
he laps at the essence until satisfied and moves up to your face where his pupils were spinning and his chin was shining
"please kiss me" he slurs, deep voice rasping against your face as he waits for your move
you move up and kiss him, teeth knocking together as you move your lips rapidly
you feel his head nudging your entrance as you buck your hips toward it, he slides it in bit by bit as you try to relax as you take in his (now proven) monster cock
"holy fuck" you whisper, he kisses your temple as he thrust the rest of himself in, you moan into his tee shirt as he snaps his hips into yours, reaching down and rubbing your clit as he moves toward your ear
"I'm gonna make you fucking squirt on my cock" he says as if it's already set in stone, and honestly, with how he's treating you right now, you're gonna say it is.
"you terrify me ya'know" a hard thrust. "talkin' about armin like that" another. "like you fucking like him" again. "I'll treat you so well, you deserve it, especially after everything I did"
"I'm so sorry" he says but it goes through one ear and out the other
"eren," you move to try and catch his eyes with the pace you're being fucked at
"this is the perfect apology" you moan, he moves to kiss your cheek as you daze out, he rubs your clit again, pressing on it from time to time to tease you slightly
"fuck fuck eren-" you whine, feeling your orgasm approaching rapidly
"me too baby, fuck you keep sucking me the fuck in" he groans, speeding up his pace as he haphazardly rubs your clit
"fuck! fuck!" you can no longer control your moans, the bell rings out and you're forever grateful as you both scream freely when you cum
(as promised) you squirt everywhere, and you're laid limp on the desk as you feel a kiss on your head and the muffled chatter of students in the hall
he moves to kiss you again, finding your lips so addictive as he gets more before saying,
"c'mon, we gotta get to class"
Tumblr media
an: ahhh! I hope you liked this! also, thank you so so so much for requesting! I was so stoked to see your request and I'm already having a lot of fun writing these <33

”hey dingus! your children are here!”
steve’s head snaps up from its place on the back room’s table. it takes him a moment to process robin’s words, but when he does, he’s out of that chair in 0.3 seconds.
he bursts through the ‘captain’s quarters’ door, running up to greet the party.
“your first day of summer break and you come to see my dumbass at this place?” he questions. he wasn’t sure what these kids found so interesting about him, but whatever it was, they were all wrapped around his finger.
he wasn’t complaining, just confused as to why a bunch of 14 year-olds were spending their first day of summer vacation in a nautical themed ice cream shop with him instead of going to the arcade.
“will wanted ice cream,” el shrugs.
“and we wanted to see how stupid you looked in your uniform!” lucas chimed in.
“are you wearing…lipgloss?”
“shut the hell up, max. it’s strawberry lipgloss and it’s the closest thing to chapstick i could find.”
steve was, of course, lying. he didn’t want the party to know that he was wearing lipgloss to try to look a little nicer. he didn’t want them to know about his on-going sexuality crisis, or the specific someone he wanted to catch the attention of.
“harrington, your kids are in the damned way!” robin gestures to the people standing behind them, so steve ushers the group to the side so robin could help the customers.
“anyways, will wanted ice cream? that’s the only reason you’re here?”
“well…we may have planned this after we found out scoops hired you..” will admits as he fidgets with his bracelet (which was made by el at their last sleepover).
“dude! you weren’t supposed to tell him that!”
“i’m sorry, mike! you know i can’t lie!”
“alright, quit arguing,” steve moves back behind the counter, leaning against it. “what do you losers want?”
“we just told you?” max points out.
“haha, mayfield. i mean what flavors. i can’t have you guys in my way all day, i have shit to do.” steve reaches for his ice cream scoop, and waits for the kids to order their treats.
the kids left after everyone got their ice cream, much to their dismay. robin had ushered them out, wanting to make room for ‘actual customers’, as she called it.
“seriously, how many children are you friends with, harrington?”
steve rolled his eyes and chuckled, before his attention was pulled away from robin, and onto someone new. the last person either of the two had expected to see.
steve turned around after hearing the shuffling of feet approaching the counter.
“ahoy-“
steve froze.
a familiar set of brown eyes stared back at him. long, curly hair framed the face of this mystery person. they cocked their head in confusion as a response to steve’s frozen frame.
“uh, you alright there, harrington?”
“wha- yeah, yeah i’m fine. eddie..?”
“that is my name,” eddie comments, still confused.
“sorry, just uh, why are you here? i didn’t expect to see you.”
“aw, are you all shy because of me? you could’ve said so, pretty boy, maybe i would’ve stayed away,” eddie smirked, leaning over the counter and resting his chin on his palm.
steve wasn't shy because of eddie, per say. steve was shy because..
because he's eddie? no, that couldn't be it.
eddie was the reason steve had so boldly chosen to wear lipgloss that day.
that's why steve was shy.
'oh my fuck. holy shit. why did this have to happen? i wore the lipgloss to try to catch his eye, but he wasn't supposed to actually stop by the fucking store! stupid steve! you are SO stupid!'
"hey, harrington? you daydreaming about boobies over there?" eddie giggles, waving his hand in front of the dazed boy's face.
steve shakes himself out of his thoughts, suddenly aware of how red his face is. aware of how close eddie is. he had moved as close to the counter as possible-avoiding climbing on top of it-in order to check on steve. eddie knew steve was a flight risk. faint risk, as he preferred to call it. he had seen it before, countless times from the sidelines, always too nervous to approach and help out.
"i'm fine! what can i get you eddie?" steve blurts out, wanting this awkward interaction to be over with. i mean, come on. boobies? how old was munson, anyway?
"i'll take a double scoop of chocolate on a waffle cone and your phone number, if you're giving it out," eddie winks, and steve just rolls his eyes and charges eddie, then prepares and gives him his order.
and then finds himself giving the taller boy his phone number.

i’ve been very quiet so srry - my week started with my annual performance review (which went well) and ended with an emergency surgery (also went well) so…a lot going on to say the least
this is a deleted scene from the first chapter of plant a seed
When Robin called, Steve and Eddie were in the phase of newborn parenthood where they froze every single time the phone rang (because said newborn was napping more often than not and when she was, there was a 50% chance minimum the phone would wake her up).
So when Robin called and the ringing of the phone broke the otherwise peaceful silence, Steve froze and he waited. When the baby didn't wake up, Steve exhaled a sigh of relief and answered the call.
"This is Steve."
"Hey Steve-o!"
Steve immediately recognized the voice as Robin's – of course he did, even if he hadn't heard it since she and Nancy left for a work trip in Japan a little over a month ago.
“Oh shit,” Steve said, because this means that Robin and Nancy are finally home, finally back in their Boston apartment fifteen minutes away from his and Eddie's in Cambridge instead of the opposite side of the entire world, “You’re home!”
“Yep,” Robin replied, popping the P, “That plane was a million degrees, I’m pretty sure. No more August flights if I have any say in it. Anyways – wanted to let you know we made it back unscathed. What’s new with you guys?”
“Uh…” Steve began, not totally sure where to start, because Robin didn't know about the baby he and Eddie had been placed with two weeks ago and she certainly didn't know that they're going to adopt her (because they'd landed on that decision that very day – about two hours ago, to be specific), “Well–”
“Hey, do you still have those placements?" Robin interrupted, "The kids who like to read the Goosebumps books?”
“Oh,” Steve blinked, “No. They went back with their mom a couple days after you left.”
“Damn. Been a while. Forgot this trip was longer than usual – wait, so are you between placements now, then? Hey, we should finally make that trip to P-Town!”
"Might need a raincheck on that," Steve said with a laugh, because at the moment a trip to the goddamn grocery store required at least a day's worth of planning, "We've got another placement right now – a newborn. We've had her for, uh, for just under two weeks, pretty sure."
“Shit, a newborn?" Robin repeated.
Steve faintly heard Nancy's voice, though he couldn't make out exactly what she was saying. He listened as Robin recounted to her what he'd just said, then started to laugh.
"Nancy just said that if she misses out on a chance to hold a new baby, she'll kill you," Robin told him, "Any idea when she might move on?”
Steve paused for a second. He and Eddie had decided earlier that they wouldn’t be telling anyone about the baby until the adoption was finalized, but…it’s Robin.
He doesn’t think he’s ever kept a secret from Robin before, certainly not something this big and certainly not for very long.
He has to tell her.
“We’re, uh, we’re actually adopting her.”
Robin was silent.
Then –
“Holy shit – Steve.”
And then –
“I’m coming over right now. Immediately. Wait–” Robin stopped, “Damn, I can’t be a dick and come over unannounced anymore, can I? Because you guys have a baby. A baby. And she’s gonna be yours? What the fuck? Wait, let me start over.”
Robin paused long enough to take a deep breath.
“Steve Harrington – my best friend who’s finally fulfilling a lifelong dream of becoming a dad – when will you allow us to come and be formally introduced to our niece?”
Truth be told, Steve wouldn’t say no to a visit from Robin and Nancy that day (especially after the our niece comment), but their case worker had just started faxing over all the paperwork to get the ball rolling on the adoption process and Steve has a feeling that he might catch Eddie trying to fill that shit out as it came out of the machine so tonight they might be a little occupied.
"Tomorrow?" he suggested.
"Morning?" Robin added.
Steve laughed, "Sure. Tomorrow morning."
"Bright and early, dad. Holy fuck, I can't believe you're a dad."
"You can't?"
"No, I totally can."

the thought of abby having 0 spacial awareness and having No personal space is so funny to me :)) she believes she’s just a little guy when in reality she’s this huge, almost over 6 ft golden retriever of a gf, which leads to her knocking Everything she comes into contact with over.
like, she’s more composed around others and understands how to move in crowds and everything but as soon as y’all are at home, she is right up in your personal bubble, gluing herself to you while you clean the apartment and in the process accidentally making more of a mess as you move from place to place. n the whole time she has her little :] bc she loves being near you
but oh lord, as soon as you notice the floor being cluttered with random shit that abby unintentionally knocked (with her huge arms mmmmm) over, you have to ban her to the couch for the time being. nd she just sits there like :( with her cute pout watching you move around without her, thinking you must be getting cold and lonely :(( and she misses you so much even though you’re 3 feet away :((((( she’s just “hun can i come join u? :[”
of course you finish about 10 minutes later (but that might as well have been months. years. decades. centuries. to abby) and she’s flopped over on the couch, sighing dramatically with her arms crossed and an angry pout on her face. nd you come over and lay next to her, slipping under her arms and snuggling up to her, kissing her frown away and she’s :]
i’m sorry i. love her so much.
okay we're putting this in the college basketball abby x chubby reader universe because I have Thoughts, although the chubby/plus size aspect isn't really mentioned here. also since this is the first time I've written for college basketball abby in a while, just a reminder to anyone new here that my college basketball abby is inspired by @elsweetheart, who pretty much kicked off the whole college basketball au!
Like, is Abby incredibly agile on the court? Yes. Is she hyper aware of how she takes us space on and off the court? Also yes. Does all of that awareness fly out the window when you're in her general vicinity? Absolutely.
She just can't help it! It's like your presence has rewired her brain to forget any and all conventions of personal space, all she knows is she has to be close to you. With anyone else she's incredibly aware of her surroundings, because she knows she's a big girl and if she's not careful with her strength she could hurt someone! And sometimes she slips up, hence the multiple times she's knocked over stacks of books in your apartment, or every time she accidentally slams her hip into the kitchen island, or when she accidentally shoulder checks someone on campus and then inadvertently starts beef </3 But with you? Any and all concerns fly out the window, because she also knows she'll never intentionally hurt you.
I've talked about this a bit before, but when y'all are cooking dinner she is Glued to you. As long as it's safe to do so, Abby is clinging to your back like a koala. If she could wrap herself around you and have you carry her around the apartment, she would. When you're cleaning, if you don't let her cling to you, she's hovering like two feet away from you.
Side note, when this happens, she's too focused on you to have any sort of awareness about her surroundings. Cue her slamming into corners, bumping shit off surfaces, and once even stepping on the tip of Haley's tail. If you're wondering, this last one did result in Abby sitting crosslegged on the floor crying and snuggling Haley, giving her treats and pets and apologizing for like an hour. You sat next to her, rubbing her back and holding Soot, trying not to giggle because Haley wasn't even upset. The sweet little pittie was just happy to be with her mom, wiggling her tail and leaving kisses all over Abby's face, which made her cry even harder.
Anyways! With all her girlfriend-induced clumsiness, she's producing more mess than you started with, so you take her by the shoulders and tell her to go sit down on the couch. She listens, because she is never gonna argue with something her girlfriend says like, whatever you say, gorgeous <3 But then you have her sitting on the couch like a pouty baby, watching you with those big puppy eyes as you flit around the room. You're literally in the same room as her, you're talking to her, and yet she's like my wife is off at war :(
By the time you're done tidying up living room she's shimmied to the part of the couch that's closest to you, sprawled over the arm of the couch to reach out for you.
"I miss you :[ I'm wasting away here."
"Abby it's been fifteen minutes and I was right here the whole time," You giggle, rolling your eyes even as you're climbing on the couch and being sucked into her arms. The second you're settled into her lap, she's all smiles, grinning like a fool and pressing kisses all over your face. Doesn't let you go for the rest of the night.
Oh my god also. Abby is 100% the type of gf to go to the bathroom with you. Doesn't matter what time of night it is, if you get up to go to the bathroom, even if you try your hardest to not wake her up, you best believe she is hot on your tail. And vice versa, whenever she wakes up at 3am needing to pee, she wakes you up and pulls you to the bathroom, holding your hand while you're both bleary eyed and sleepy.
I've also mentioned that I think Abby runs hot, body temperature wise, which makes cuddling in the summer hell. The summer before your last year of college, the city experience a terrible heatwave that busted the AC in the building. Did Abby give you any space at all when it came to sleeping at night? Absolutely not, baby was soaked in sweat but still clinging on to you. Nothing would stop her, not even when you moved to sleep on the couch to get some reprieve from the heat. You woke up the next morning with Abby wrapped around you, wearing nothing but sweaty boxers and sleeping like a baby.
I love her so much I missed writing for her <3 Abby my beautiful girl <3

“So… you’re really breaking up with me?” Zuko asked again.
“I mean, I guess. We don’t need this anymore, don’t you think?”
Zuko was more confused than upset. And wasn’t ‘we don’t need this anymore’ an odd thing to say about ending a relationship?
He looked back at Mai across the sofa they sat on, confusion still showing on his face. He could see a hint of exasperation beginning to make its way into her expression. They’d been having this conversation for a while already.
“I just… aren’t things going well?”
“Zuko,” Mai sighed and placed a hand on his shoulder, “You’re like my best friend.”
“Right, so..?”
“Not. A boyfriend?” She raised an eyebrow, hoping Zuko would be able to fill in the blanks.
Zuko knew his relationship with Mai wasn’t… typical. They didn’t kiss much anymore and had never even thought of doing anything beyond that, but it… worked… He valued their companionship.
“I just… why now?” He thought it was a fair question.
Mai huffed and stood up, turning to face him.
“Honestly, Zuko. I didn’t think this was going to be such a big deal. I just thought maybe we were both ready to move on. The world’s changed since you became Fire Lord, and I thought maybe it would be safe now for us to…”
Zuko blinked at her, still making it quite clear he had no idea what was going on.
“Look,” Mai sighed, sitting down to face Zuko on the sofa opposite his, “We aren’t in love, Zuko. We never have been.”
He sputtered, wanting desperately to protest, but finding he needed a moment to think about it. He did love Mai, definitely. He always would, just like he loved Azula. Being with Mai had always made sense…
“Zuko,” Mai pushed, “We’ve never been in love, right?”
“Maybe not…?” he admitted.
“It’s fine,” she waved her hand. “I don’t take it personally. I know you’re not interested in women.”
Zuko sputtered again. What? Of course he was… why wouldn’t he…?
“What?” he whispered. The truth was he’d never really thought about it.
“Zu. It’s fine. In case you haven’t figured it out, I’m not into guys either. That’s what I thought this whole relationship was about, actually.”
Zuko didn’t say anything. This was a lot to process.
Mai seemed to understand, sitting quietly until he was ready to talk.
“So…” he finally managed, “You’ve always…?”
“Yeah. It took me a while to figure it out, but definitely.”
“So you think if we break up now we could…?”
“No offense Zuko, but I’d much rather be with Ty Lee than stuck in whatever this is with you. I think we’re ready for it now. And you and Sokka—“
“WHAT?”
Mai sighed and put her head into her hands, staying like that for a moment while Zuko tried to figure out what the fuck was going on.
“Agni, Zuko. Sorry. I didn’t think any of this was new information to you,” she sat up and looked directly into Zuko’s eyes, “Yes, dumbass. The whole Nation knows at this point that boy is in love with you. He’s not exactly subtle about it. And everyone besides you seems to have the idea that you love him back.”
“But I’m not even…” Zuko was learning a lot about himself tonight, apparently. Could he be in love with Sokka?
He thought about it.
They were just friends, right?
Thought about the happiness that filled his heart every time he entered a room Sokka was in.
Good friends…
About the natural ease with which they spoke with and spent time together.
Close friends…
How he thought of his friendship with Sokka very similarly to how he thought of his relationship with Mai.
…Best… friends?
The desire that had crossed his mind on more than one occasion, which he’d tryed and failed to lock away completely, to grab, caress, kiss Sokka. But thoughts like that were normal every once in a while, right? Everyone had them. Except… he had them for Sokka more than he ever had with Mai…
“Oh shit…” he whispered, “I’m…”
“An idiot,” Mai finished for him.
That was not was Zuko was going to say, but he let it slide.
“I think we gotta break up,” he said instead.

Summary: The calla lily has a fair amount of symbols related to it. And the owner of the hotel you were sent to work to chose to use the hidden lustful, sexy and sensual meaning of it.
You struggled with trying to do many things at the same time: getting the luggage out of the cab’s truck, all while trying to keep your Gucci bag still hanging on your arm, holding your phone against your ear, and trying to look as neat and professional as you could manage to.
It was a challenge.
The fact that the cab driver didn’t even bother to get out of the vehicle to help you, and just limited himself to look through the rearview, pressuring you to end fast, was annoying you. Huffing once your things were out, and closing the truck as hard as you could, showing off your frustration, got you wondering if you’d have reacted the same way in any other circumstances.
Back home, you were in the middle of moving out from the apartment you shared with your -now- ex boyfriend, all while processing that he chose to cheat on you the same day you needed support the most after being rejected for a project you were looking forward to. Yet the Marketing manager, and also your friend, thought it’d be a good idea to make you travel all the way from home to Seoul to get you to talk with a possible new client -that was planning to open a new hotel in London.
“How was the flight?” Lizzie casually asked.
“Oh, it was great” you answered, the irony in your tone already getting your friend ready for your complaints. “Out of all the people in the plane, I was the only one who had a massage chair, which worked with the feet of a diabolic little kid” all the excitement that Lizzie built in mid sentence, dropped down as you finished up.
It seemed like the universe was urging you to give up on everything you had ever wanted. Marriage? Your boyfriend cheated on you and destroyed the four-year relationship you two had. Family? If it wasn’t enough to see your brother’s wife lose her tiny bit of sanity because of your nephews, you kept crossing paths with kids and parents that made you reconsider that deep wish of ever starting a family.
At that point, you only craved peace
You sighed, trying to regain some calmness that you seemed to have left at Heathrow. “Who is the client?”. You remembered his name was discussed in one of the meetings, but you were too distracted to pay enough attention -in your defense, you didn’t think that project would be yours anyway.
“Kalla” was written in big, with neat letters, sophisticatedly brightened by white lights, that also allowed the dark golden borders to shine, over the big revolving door.
Lizzie finally spoke again “He’s young, Asian…” you had to interrupt her when you heard that, because there was no way she used that only to describe.
“Well, no shit Sherlock, I’m in Seoul”  you threw your head back, trying to not let your annoyance get the worst of you. “Nevermind, I’ll just ask for the owner” that’d definitely work better, and faster, than waiting for your friend to give details and explanations that could work out for you. And it wasn’t like you had the patience either.
After hanging up the phone, and dragging your things inside the hotel, you were surprised by the delicate reception that reeked of expensiveness.Maybe it was the high walls that seemed to have no ending, the white marble floor, or the big calla lily flower that adorned the curved black stairs to the first floor.
Heading to the huge counter across the reception, you supported your weight on it, getting the attention of a well dressed woman, who placed her waistcoat properly before speaking to you “I’m looking for the owner of the hotel. I’m Y/n, a representative from Youth. I had a meeting scheduled with him”.
The woman, all while smiling, nodded and checked on the computer hidden underneath the counterpart, confirming everything you’ve just said “Yes, here it is. But unfortunately Mr. Choi is busy right now. I’m afraid he won’t be able to meet with you until tomorrow morning”
Great. You tried your best at holding yourself back from rolling your eyes. It wasn’t like it was going to change your plans that much, because you wouldn’t be flying back home until two days later. But the plan was to have the first contact meeting as you arrived, and spend the next day exploring the hotel and discussing what objectives he had for his new hotel in London. You could still do all that tomorrow, but the slight change of plans -that messed with the strict schedule you settled to yourself- irked you.
“I’ll give you your room key” she announced, after you agreed on waiting for him. “Our spa is open until nine, just like the pool. The pub is open until three. And if you crave something yummy, the room service is available all day.” pointing the way towards the lifts on the left, she said “Your room is the 115 on the second floor. Hope you enjoy your stay” said that, she bowed and waited for you to leave.
When you got to your room, you wondered if you were getting a special treatment, or if all the rooms were alike. Because fucking hell. As you let your body dive in the fluffy mattress, you took a look around. Despite the black walls, the room still looked quite big for just one person. The decoration was quite minimalistic, following the white, yellow and black tones that you had already seen in the reception. In one corner of the room, next to the TV, you saw a black and white painting with a calla lily flower on it. And, considering the name of the hotel was “Kalla”, it made sense that their decoration focused on that flower in particular. Resting your head back on the mattress, you were finally aware of the several small mirrors on the ceiling, that could form one big mirror altogether if you looked properly. It was definitely a place to share with a partner, and Lizzie was so cruel for giving this work to you after what happened…
Rubbing that thought away, or at least trying to, you opened your luggage. It was eight, and it wasn’t like you were starving -because you made sure to stop somewhere to get something to eat before the supposed meeting-, but you needed a drink. And you were planning on staying in that pub until three.
You weren’t exactly planning on clubbing while in Seoul, or going out for drinks, so your clothes were focused on serious meetings and casual clothes. You tried your best at combining both, to get a decent look before you went downstairs with a pair of jeans, a lilac blouse and a pair of black stilettos -that got you regretting your decision of wearing them after fifteen minutes, rushing yourself to sit on the first free stool you saw.
Tumblr media
San came back to the hotel where he spent most of his time, greeting the employees that were chattering behind the counter at the reception before heading directly to the open pub at the other side of the hall.
The atmosphere there was always… exciting. And he loved the huge variety of people that were there. From couples enjoying their time before they jumped straight to their rooms or single people that were looking for someone to spend the night with, to those who found joy only looking at others. Or so that was the typical thing there. Of course, there were exceptions, like the woman who was sitting at the corner of the counter, too focused on her own drink to bother herself by lifting her eyes from it.
And while he’d have ignored her to show some feedback to the women who had their eyes on him already, there was something in her aura that instantly attracted him to her.
“The same as always?” the bartender asked, receiving a short nod from San before he took the spot next to you.
He peeked at your drink, or what was remaining from it, and puckered his lips in approval. He had worked several years as a bartender to know that your drink was a Sex on the beach. The bitter taste of vodka, mixed with the fruity flavor of peach and cranberries was sexy. And the suggestive name of the drink was pretty much in line with the concept of the hotel.
Yet you seemed completely uninterested in anyone. So he wondered if you were one of those who liked to go solo but being watched by others. Maybe that was your thing.
“A pic will last longer” you caught him off guard by your comment, finally raising your eyes from the glass to the attractive man in front of you.
“I was just checking your drink”
“You know that sounds suspicious as fuck” you squinted your eyes at him.
You’ve dealt with several assholes while partying, those who’d do anything to get their dick wet -and you meant absolutely anything. But that man didn’t seem like one of those. Despite his harsh looks, you could find some kindness underneath. Maybe it was the way he was smiling, and the dimples that formed perfectly on each one of his cheeks before he spoke again.
“That’s not what I meant” he got momentarily interrupted by the waiter handing him a short, but wide, glass of what you thought could be whiskey. “I just thought it was a good choice”
Lifting your drink a bit, you twisted your lips “Honestly, it seemed to be the softest drink in the menu” you had a high tolerance to alcohol, you just hated the excessive taste of it.
“I’m San, by the way”
“Y/n”
San nodded again, scanning his eyes all over your body. Unable to not admire the way those jeans fitted perfectly in your curves, embracing your legs and ass on that stool, while his eyes avoided to be too obvious when they landed on your small cleavage -although, from his perspective, he could see more than enough to know that what you were hiding underneath was too good to hide it.
“I guess you come here often” you muttered, making him look at you with frowned eyes. “He said he’d get you the same as always”.
“So you like listening to others’ conversations” he teased you.
“More like, I’m an observer by nature” which was a requirement for your job.
San nodded, curious about your response. You were a flirt, but it was so unconscious and natural from you that he could tell you didn’t belong to that place. Yet at the same time you fitted so perfectly.
He could also tell you weren’t that good of an observer, because you seemed to be completely unaware of the three men that had their eyes on you two since he approached you. Or maybe you were aware, and he was just lucky that you were playing along with his game.
“What about you?” he took a sip from his drink. “What brings you here?”
“Business” you nodded. “I had to meet with someone for a project, but the asshole didn’t dare to show up and didn’t even bother to inform me beforehand. So I’m here, killing time”
Minutes went by, letting him invite you for another drink when he also asked for another one for him, while you two just talked about anything. You swore you had never been that comfortable with anyone before, not even your ex boyfriend. Talking with San was so easy and fluent, it was like there was no way the conversation could die, because you two always managed a way to connect the previous topic to a new one.
Well, that, and the fucking tension. You caught his eyes flying to your lips more than once while speaking, licking his own before smirking. And you’d done the right same thing a little too many times as well. He also touched your knee a few times, and you weren’t sure if he had done it on purpose or not, but the tickles in your stomach were dying for him to stick his hand there -accidentally or not. Something was pulling you to each other, but your own restrictions kept stopping any kind of move forward.
You didn’t know San was convinced of winning that inner battle you had, no matter what. And, maybe, you were willing to lose for once, as well.
“So you don’t like rough drinks” he brought up again.
“Picky taste, they call it” you joked, moving the short straw in circles.
He wondered if that was the only thing you didn’t like to be rough.
San then took a drink, and you were so lost on the way his Adam’s apple moved as he gulped the drink, that you were unable to control yourself.
Fuck whatever inner battle you were having.
“But… can I try it?” you asked.
Without hesitation, San turned to you and offered you his glass. Instead, you moved to him, both of your hands enclosing around his neck before you link both of your lips together. You wanted to forget about that lame pick up line you pulled, but most importantly, you needed to know if his lips felt as good on yours as you had been imagining for almost an hour. And fuck they did. The heart-shaped form molding on yours as if you had been destined to meet that night.
To your surprise, he answered your kiss, just as hungry and needy as you. Soon turning more possessive, controlling. You started the kiss, but he took control of it as his hands pressed on each side of your waist.
You weren’t a big fan of one night stands. You hated the idea of going to bed with a total stranger, even kissing one put you in a tough position. But something about San kept drawing you to him. You weren’t sure if it was the taste of whiskey every time his tongue twirled on yours, the way his thumb rubbed on your sides, or the heat that he was able to create with just his presence. But you were ready for everything he could give you.
“Should we take this somewhere?” he asked, breathless.
Yes, please.
But you didn’t beg out loud. You simply nodded, trying to guess how you’d stand up without falling down. Because your legs felt weak as hell at that point.
The big question was where. You had too many important documents in your room, regarding that hotel project, to mess it all up because you were horny enough to invite a hook up in there.
But again, he chose on your behalf, holding your hand to guide you towards the lifts you’d taken not that long ago. Your mind was too busy thinking about all the sinful things you wanted to do to him, to worry about your drinks not being paid. Your mind was filled with him, and when you got inside that elevator, his name intensified so deep in your brain that you couldn’t help but jump again on him, earning a chuckle from him against your lips that sent shiverings all over your body. And those only increased when he pressed you against the cold wall.
“Patience” he gasped, holding your hands on each side of your head when your fingers rushed to unbutton his black velvety waistcoat. “Don’t tell me I’ll have to teach you what that is”.
“Well, I’m quite a restless ass, so…” you managed to say under your breath.
That response, the way you tilted your head… You were one hell of a tease, and he knew he’d have a lot of fun with you tonight.
All his sinful thoughts, filled with all of the things he wanted to do to you, were interrupted by the bell of the lift when you two got to the top floor.
Sucking on your lower lip one last time, he held your hand and guided you down the hall. And with every step, you found yourself more nervous, but also excited and eager for what was to come. It was your first time ever hooking up with a man that you had just met, but you were ready for everything you two could offer to each other.
San moved the key card skillfully over the magnet, unlocking the door to his room. You held your breath, trying to get as much air as possible as you were waiting for another kiss. But, instead, he invited you in and followed you from behind, closing the door and turning the lights off.
His room was like yours, but reversed. Just a few things changed in the distribution, like the bathroom -instead of being at the left like yours, his was at the right.
There was a moment of silence, thick and heavy, almost unbearable by the way he was looking at you with such intensity. The sound of the heels of his shoes hitting against the wooden floor made your heart beat a bit faster, leaving you close to pass out when he stood in front of you.
His warm breath caressed your forehead, while his fingers pulled from your blouse, taking it out of your jeans before they moved up to those small white buttons. He unbuttoned each one, eyes focused on yours, as if he were wanting to say all the things he was planning for that night with them. He stopped his job though, moving his fingers upwards to your jaw, making a burning trail from that spot to your collarbones, moving the fabric enough to expose part of your shoulder before his fingers trailed down. He traced the curve of your breast, so slowly that it was painful, moving over the space between your tits, stopping at the place where he stopped unbuttoning your shirt.
“Get naked for me” he demanded, but in such a sweet tone that it felt like honey to your ears.
As you nodded, he stepped back, only taking off the waistcoat you tried to rip off back in the elevator, throwing it somewhere in the room, before taking a seat over the edge of the bed.
You took your heels off while you fought with the buttons left of your blouse, moving down to fight with your jeans when the upper fabric was long gone. You got naked in a new record time, but he stopped you when you finally took off your bra. Lifting two fingers in the air, he motioned you to start walking towards him.
“We have all night, babe” he assured you, placing you in between his open legs, before you almost lost all balance when his tongue swirled around your nipple.
He loved the way your body reacted to him almost instantly, feeling the buttons getting hard on his tongue with just a few moves, while you were trying your best at hiding your pleasure expression from him. Although, all that stopped when his lips closed around one of them. San was fast getting drunk from your taste, your reaction and that subtle coconut smell that was mixed with your arousal scent. Changing from one button to the other, he started slipping your panties down, making your skin burn with the way his fingers barely touched you on their way down.
You felt a throb shaking you up from head to toe when his lips got in contact with your belly for the first time.
“Lay on the bed” he demanded.
You just did what he said. Feeling good over him having that amount of power over you, strangely excited by how you were fully naked in front of him while he was still completely clothed -although he was fighting against the knot of his tie while he walked around the bed.
When he took out some pieces of the headboard to show off two long chains that came from each side, you instantly sat up.
“Why does your room have this?”
San looked at you confused for one second. All rooms had all kinds of sex toys or accessories, they were just hidden for the customer’s comfort and to keep the elegance of the hotel itself. “I’m sure yours has it, too”.
You still looked confused, because why the hell would a hotel have chains on the headboard of its beds.
“This hotel is designed for this, and aimed at people into this type of thing” he bothered to explain, kneeling next to you on the bed. “I thought you knew it”.
He knew there was something strange about you the second he laid his eyes on your body back in the pub, but he never thought it’d be that you were completely unaware of the hotel’s nature.
It was something that you’d have known if you had held the meeting with the owner, but you didn’t.
“We can stop it all right now” you heard him say.
And despite being confused about what was happening, you still rushed to stop him from moving. Could be you were too into that man, too lost in his inverted triangle torso under that white shirt, or the way his bulge marked under his slacks, but you didn’t really want it to stop.
“I want to go on” you assured him, instantly earning a sided smile from him.
He stretched the black tie in his hands, looking at you with a careful gaze “Whenever you’re unsure, uncomfortable… If you just want to stop, use the safe word, calla, and I’ll stop. Understood?”.
After seeing you nodding, he wrapped his tie around your head, covering your eyes with the black and thick fabric. Gently, he pushed you towards the mattress, with two fingers against your chest, until you were finally lying down.
With your eyes covered, you felt like your other senses multiplied per ten. You could perfectly hear the sound of the thin chains rubbing against the metallic headboard, you could feel the light weight of each one of the handcuffs next to your wrists as San placed himself on top of you.
He closed the two puffy handcuffs around you, restricting your moves, but also making sure they wouldn’t be that tight to hurt you.
Your back momentarily arched when you felt something light and soft caressing your skin, tracing an invisible line from your jaw, down to your neck and collarbones. San found delightful the way your body responded to the plastic flower running over your body. It was all your subtle responses that made him twitch in his pants faster than he’d want to. He wanted to teach you about patience, and there he was, almost close to losing his because of the way your hairs lifted as the petal drew the rugosity of your nipples, your how thick you swallowed when it kept moving down to your belly button.
The touch of that thing on your body, ghosting over your skin, and teasing your pelvis, as San moved back to straddle your thighs, was sending you to a whole new place. Needy, eager, desperate… Those were the words that would describe you right now, as your arousal kept leaking while all you wanted was him. San was a king at building up the moment and getting you ready for him. He was giving a whole new meaning to the word patience.
You stopped feeling his weight on your body, but you did feel it on the mattress, in front of you. Biting your lip to hold back a moan, when he lifted your leg from your ankle. That soft thing was tempting the curve of your sole, moving forward to the marked bone of your ankle, before it started moving up past your calve. Still going up to your inner thigh, you felt San’s strong hands enclosing around your knees, parting your legs to finally see by himself his creation. Your slick creating thin lines among your folds when he left you completely open.
“You’re so gorgeous” he assured, finally allowing you to feel his lips on the soft skin of your inner thighs.
It was your first time in that place, in that situation, but you were molding in so perfectly, you were looking so fucking tempting, he had to remind himself he had to be easy on you. He was dying to use one of the whips hidden behind the secret closet next to the TV, or overstimulating you with one of the vibrators until you asked him to stop. Only because you dared to go faster than what he was planning to back in that elevator.
Maybe another day.
You felt his weight disappearing from the bed, but you still heard the sound of his clothes moving, barely making a sound when they fell to the ground around him. Soon after he joined you again, placing himself between your thighs, and letting his heavy dick rest on your pubes, grinding on you “Are you going to take me like a good girl?”.
You nodded, thinking it’d be enough with just that. Until a hard span on your thigh made you jump, and bite your lip to shut the whimper tempting to get out.
“Use your words”.
“Yes” your voice sounded so weak, he found it cute.
Your hips instantly lifted when he moved his tip all over your slit, getting himself wet enough before thrusted in all at once, making a scream get drowned at the back of your throat while holding yourself onto the chains by the surprise. Waiting a few seconds, he rolled his hips back again slowly, before thrusting into you hard again, making your whole body collapse against the mattress.
He repeated that same move a few times, just to buckle his hips and go faster in you, not allowing you to feel empty for long enough before he was filling you completely again. “So tight and good” he moaned “You have no fucking idea what beautiful you’re looking right now, being fucked so good” His fingergrips dinted on your skin, and you were sure you’d be filled with his marks the morning after. But you couldn’t care less. You were too lost in pleasure, too over the moon by his cock rubbing against all the right spots, that you were even having a hard time controlling your own moans.
And he was aware, and bothered by it. San was seeing you moving your body constantly, clenching your jaw while pressing your lips together, with only small whines and gasps getting to escape your mouth with every thrust, forcing him to press his digits on your cheeks, parting your lips so those sounds would be filling the room.
“This is how I want you, babe” his hand went down to your waist, lifting your hips a bit more. “Be a fucking mess for me. Let everyone know who’s fucking you this good”.
You yourself were surprised by your own whimpers, finding it hard to believe those loud moans and begs were coming from you. Never in your life you thought you’d feel so much pleasure to be so loud, always thinking it was something exaggerated by the few porn movies you used to watch when you had to do the job your ex didn’t.
It was the first time in your life you were losing yourself completely, not having a single bit of control over your body.
His fingers dragged the tie down, now placed around your neck, before he pulled from it to force you to look at him.
You were too shy to keep your eyes on him, but too fucking turned on by own looks to move them away. His jaw was clenched, his eyes -almost covered with his bangs- were filled with sinful words that were roaming in the back of his head. You looked down at his marked abs, and the outline of his pelvis, pounding against you so hard that you thought he was planning to break you in half, while your body just bounced with it.
You were unable to resist when his fingers started tracing circles around your clit. Your legs kept being pushed apart by his free hand whenever you aimed to close them. “I’m gonna cum” your head hung in the air, now rocking with the rest of his body and his full control.
“You gonna cum on my cock?” he tilted his head. “Do it. Make a mess for me, babe”.
It took him those words, and three more circles around your bundle of nerves, and your pussy was milking him hard and tight while cumming all around him. And after seeing your eyes rolled to the back of your head, hearing that broken loud moan, and feeling you clench so tight around him, he reached his high short after.
After a few minutes, you were still recovering from that powerful orgasm, just that you were untied and looking up to the ceiling next to him in his bed. after he came back from throwing away the condom.
Tumblr media
You were waiting for your client in the waiting hall of the hotel, still thinking about the amazing night you spent with that hot stranger. Although you felt a bit guilty after basically running away from his room after he fell asleep after the second round. San assured you you could spend the night there. And, while you agreed, there was something inside you that made you get up and leave him there while he slept.
Could be you’d see him again later today to be able to apologize. Could be you’d never see him again -and, honestly, that upsetted you more than it should have.
Your thoughts were interrupted by a group of voices that were getting closer to your room, until the door opened and showed a neatly dressed woman -that was probably around your age.
“Mr. Choi will be with you in a second” she assured her.
And just nodding, you sat back on the armchair while playing nervously with your fingers on your lap. You expected that man to be someone old, rough and difficult to handle. Because there was no way you were the only one in the office acceptable to take the job. You were sure more than one person rejected the project, and you were the only dumb one to take it.
“Sorry for being so late…”
You froze on the spot when you saw him. If you had had a way to hide yourself anywhere, you for sure would’ve jumped anywhere to close yourself inside forever. The man you were begging for more last night, that had you in shambles and almost crying from pleasure, the same man you abandoned at five in the morning in the sneakiest way possible, was standing in front of you.
“Mr. Choi?” you asked, nervously.
“You’re the agent from Youth?” unlike you, his looks brightened when he saw you. “So I’m that asshole?”.
Reminding how you ranted against the owner of the hotel with him, you were aware you were talking to the person you were talking shit of.
No. Now. Now was when you wanted to hide forever. That probably was the worst way to start the negotiations for a project.

“i told you so” teaser? 🫣
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ooooo!!!! ya know, why not?🤭 here is a little snippet of one of the first beginning parts 🩷🩷🩷
Tumblr media
You had fallen asleep on the way to the apartment, your new home. Being gently shaken awake by Jake, “Hey, baby, we’re home.”
Jake got way too excited saying that. It just felt so right calling it our home. A place where you’ll always return to him at the end of the day. A place to eat, sleep, and live freely together. What more could he ask for?
You sleepily yawned, stretching your arms and legs out then finally getting out of your car.
Jake opened the trunk, pulling each of your bags out one by one.
You leaned in to help, wanting to get the process moving quicker. Because let’s be honest, the worst part about moving is the packing and unpacking.
“Hey stinks!!” you cringed at the nickname, looking over to your right and seeing your brother hovering over the balcony railing waving his arms back and forth.
“God, I hope he falls.” you mumbled, “So annoyed with that nickname.”
Jake chuckled at your comment then glanced up at his best friend, “Get your ass down here Jay! We have a lot of shit to bring up! Get Hoon and Hee!”
Jay saluted him, turning on his heels and rushing back inside their shared apartment, returning with the ace and prince and forcing them down the stairs.
Jay was the first to swoop you into a hug, “I’ve missed you!”
You rolled your eyes but embraced your older brother, “It’s only been a couple months, Jongseong.”
“A couple of months too many!” Jay joked, rustling his hand in your hair.
You shoved him away, quickly fixing your locks back into place.
Sunghoon was next to pull you into a tight hug, “You’d think since he spent over twenty-one years with you he’d want nothing to do with you.”
“No, tell me about it, Hoon,” you said, hugging him back tightly. Sunghoon’s hugs were always your favorite, you found so much peace within them.
Heeseung was the last to pull you into a hug, “Sup stinks!”
You pinched his side, “I will not be tolerating that nickname anymore!”
Jay shrugged his shoulders, wrapping his arm around your neck, “Deal with it, you’ll be living under MY roof now. I’ll call you stinks all I want.”
You tried to fight your way out of your brother's grip, begging for any of the other three boys for help. But of course, they didn’t.
Traitors. All of’em.
Jake finally started barking orders for everyone to grab some bags and haul them up into the apartment.
You carried what you could, following behind Heeseung, “I’ll show you to Jake’s room, or well your room now too.”
“Please for the love of GOD force him to keep his room clean now,” Sunghoon begged, “His socks smell.”
“So do yours?!?” Jake yelled up at his friend, the only response he got was the laughter of his friends and you.
Jake rolled the sleeves up of his hoodie, cocking his head to the side, “Whose idea was it again for the four of us to move in together?”
Jay grabbed another box from the trunk, “Ours. Unfortunately, the four of us are inseparable.”
Jake nodded in agreement, “Well, the five of us now.”
Jay tried to not cringe at that fact, he’s still getting used to seeing you and his best friend together.
Jay watched as his friend balanced a few boxes in his arms, the brown material yanking down the collar of his hoodie, revealing the bite mark you left on his shoulder last night.
Jay groaned and rolled his eyes, “Really man?!”
Jake narrowed his eyebrows, clearly confused as to why he was getting snapped at, “Bro, what?”
Jay flicked the tender skin, “Can’t even fucking cover it up?”
Oh, he’s still pissed that I’m fucking his baby sister.
Jake shrugged, “I can’t stop what your sister does during se—“
“No!! Stop!!” Jay quickly snapped, raising his hands up, “I don’t want to talk about your sex life.”
Jake took this opportunity to tease, “Damn, what a shame, too bad you’ll be hearing it instead of talking about it.”
Jay’s face flushed with anger, “We aren’t playing these games, Sim Jaeyun. I’ll kick your ass so fast.”
With a roll of his eyes and a slap on his friend's shoulder, Jake walked past him, “I was only teasing, let’s hurry up and get this stuff inside, I bet Y/N is dying for your cooking.”
Jay pulled the rest of the bags into his hands, following beside his best friend, “When does she not want my cooking?”
“Dude, sometimes it’s all she talks about.”
Your brother chuckled, “She was spoiled with it growing up, plus I’m a damn good cook, what can I say?”

...................................
“Ellie, school in thirty! You better be up if you’re catching the train! Sorry about that, my daughter is– well, you know how kids can be. What was the question again?” She hates these things. These fluffy little interviews that her agent forces her into whenever she has a new book coming out. Good publicity and all that. Bullshit, if you ask her. Why can’t the book just speak for itself?
“No worries at all, I was wondering if you could tell me a little about your writing process for this last book, did you have a set routine or any rituals that propelled your work forward?” Rituals, gag her. She tries not to let out a dejected sigh over the phone, settling instead for an eye roll as she attempts to get Ellie’s lunch put together with one and a half hands, her phone settled precariously between her cheek and her shoulder as she puts together a pb and j, except not because Ellie’s school has a thing about peanut butter. So, sunflower butter and organic apricot jam from the co-op down the block that she somehow got wrangled into as a member.
“You know, I try not to be too precious about routines. I write as much as I can whenever I can. And as a mom, I have to take whatever time I can get.” The interviewer most certainly didn’t like that answer, a long right, okay crackling over the line. But what did he expect? Some sort of meticulous, meditative bullshit no doubt. Sorry, not her style.
“So, last question here, you have certainly established yourself over the last decade as a prolific writer. What is it that keeps you writing?” Well, that’s simple, isn’t it? If she keeps writing, she keeps herself from thinking about the past, about things she shouldn’t be thinking about. But her agent would probably throttle her for saying that, so something else in its place instead.
“I always wanted to be a writer growing up. It’s just– instinct, maybe impulse, frankly. I write because it’s what I know how to do, it’s how I figure out this world.” She tacks on that last bit hoping it will make up for the entirely unsexy rest of her responses, and judging by the hmm the interviewer lets out over the phone, it will suffice. All the usual niceties and a long sigh when she finally hangs up.
“Ellie, if you aren’t up I’m–”
“Jesus, I’m up, woman.” Her eleven-year-old has developed a new habit of calling her woman like a despondent husband in a loveless marriage, marching out of her bedroom and into the kitchen as she shoves papers into her backpack.
“Lunch for you, and I will be outside of the school at 3:30 to walk home with you, okay? Do you– I can walk with you this morning too if–”
“No, mom, I got it.” It stings, just a little, smarting, and then a small swell of pride that her girl is so independent.
“Okay, okay, let’s get some breakfast in you, huh? Smoothie, that sound good?” Ellie’s face scrunches up, but she doesn’t give her an abject no, and that’s enough for Cherry to get out the blender.
“Mom?”
“Hmm?”
“What’s in Texas?” Cherry freezes, her hand holding half a banana (non-GMO, whatever the fuck that means) suspended over the blender.
“What– where’s that question coming from?”
“On the computer last night, you had left it open to some construction company in Texas.” Shit, her smart girl. That was how Ellie found out that Santa wasn’t real two years ago, hopping on the desktop and finding the order confirmation for the pair of glow-in-the-dark Converse she had asked for in her letter addressed to the North Pole.
“Oh, um, that– I have a friend who is, uh, moving there and I’m helping her find someone to do work on her new house, yeah.” Ellie doesn’t seem to buy that answer, brow pinched up, but before she can question it, Cherry flips on the blender, letting it whir just a little longer than it needs to.
“Alright, breakfast of champions, you can drink it on the train, yeah? You’re gonna be late if you don’t get a move on.” A quick flurry to pour the smoothie into a to-go cup and then out the door, love you, be safe, bye. A big sigh when she slumps back against the shut door, close one.
Yes, maybe, a moment of weakness yesterday. A moment of weakness while she was working over edits for her next book. Somehow, up until yesterday, she had managed to not let a moment of weakness creep in. But before she knew what she was doing, she was googling his name and Austin, Texas. And there he was, with his own business no less.
Yes, maybe, she had left a tab open on the Miller’s Construction website’s About Us page. And yes, maybe, she had left the page zoomed in on the picture of Joel in the top corner. And yes, maybe, none of her edits had gotten done because she was a little busy looking at said picture for the better portion of the afternoon.
So the first thing that she does after cleaning up the small cyclone in the kitchen is log onto the computer to delete that tab, not letting herself linger on the photo any longer. But he looks good, she thinks. Doing good for himself, she thinks. Not letting that thought get any bigger, that want crack open any more than it already has, right back to work on her edits.
But her mind is fickle this morning, still stuck on that photo, still stuck on him in a way she hasn’t been in a while. Maybe it’s because of the appointment she has at noon. An impulsive choice she made and, for some reason, has kept. A way to hold onto something she should have let go a long time ago. But she can’t.
And yes, maybe, her morning is spent in a constant toggle between the open tab of her word doc, and that damn About Us page on the Miller’s Construction website.
He’s nervous. And he’s not sure why, because it’s her, right? It’s them. Except this is new. Not something they ever got to do in the past. Not like this at least.
“Hey there.” She’s in a dress when she opens the door, and his mind has to quickly configure around the fact that this is the first time he has seen her in a dress in two decades, though he probably should have expected that, right? Because people dress up for these things, something that Sarah said to him very slowly like he was an invalid, prompting him into a button-down before he left.
“Hey, Cherry, you look, uh, yeah– look real good.” She smiles, still leaning in the doorframe, but before she can speak, someone else beats her to it.
“Wow, real smooth, man.”
“Ellie.” Cherry hisses it over her shoulder, but Joel never sees the kid, just hears her lowly murmured what? I’m just saying, geez. Already off to a great start.
“Sorry about the peanut gallery, but I’m ready if you are.”
No more sneaking around, no more questioning if this is real or not. They’re doing the thing that normal people do, normal people in a normal relationship. They’re going on a date.
“I like this.” She hums it, reaching across the console from the passenger seat to thumb at the collar of his shirt, her palm smoothing down over his chest.
“Yeah?”
“Mmhmm, you clean up very pretty, Miller.” Just a little snark tinging the end of her words, making him huff as she keeps rubbing distracting circles into his chest.
“Well, you’re in fine form, huh?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” With that, her hand trails up, palm slipping behind the nape of his neck, her fingers threading through the errant curls there while he fights the urge for his eyes to roll back in his head.
“Sure, Cher, at this rate we’re not even gonna make it to the restaurant.” He regrets saying it instantly, because just as soon as the words leave his mouth, she’s taking her hand away, sitting prim and perfect in the passenger seat where she had been completely turned toward him before.
“Right, sorry, best behavior.” Her words slant with the simper of her smile, and he has to remind himself that they’re doing this normal thing now. No need to hurry, no need to hide, no need to steal time. Because she’s staying, and so is he.
By some stroke of luck, they do make it to the restaurant, and it’s right about then that Joel realizes it has been a woefully long time since he has been on a date. He has to stutter himself into all the motions, trying to remember the right moves, opening the door for her, a bit flustered when he pulls her chair out for her and she snorts.
“Well you don’t get this kind of treatment in New York.” To make the matter of his quick creeping flush worse, she presses a kiss to his cheek before she sits down. He gets to have that now, totally normal. He’s still getting used to totally normal.
“So how is the book coming along?” He’s not sure if he’s allowed to ask that, what might still be a sore subject. For a moment, her face falls, fear flickering in his chest that he has fucked up, though she smooths it out, something like a smile still at the edges of her eyes.
“Do you really want to hear me talk about that?”
“Only if you want to.”
“Can I ask you something first?” He nods, of course, taking a cursory sip of his wine as she does the same.
“Did you– what did you think? About the other ones?” She asks it shy, her cheek propped in her hand, smile crumpled to one side. His mind reels with what he could say, though he’s not sure if any of it’s right. It’s not like he has some dazzlingly intellectual thing to say. But she’s asking him, she wants to know what he thinks, and he muses to himself that she’s been wanting to know what he thinks for a while.
“I was amazed by every single one, Cher. And I was proud of you too, even though I had no business feeling that way. It was– I thought about you, a lot, over the years. And getting to read your books, it felt like I could be a little closer to you that way.” He surprises himself with the stark honesty of his words, but how could he offer her anything else when she’s looking at him like that? Smile softening in the dim light of the restaurant, cheeks brimming up with the praise.
“I always wondered, you know, if you were reading them. I– I guess that’s a little ridiculous.” He’s still getting used to this too, being able to reach out for her, taking her hand in his across the table.
“Not ridiculous, and I’m looking forward to reading the new one.”
“I sent the second draft in two days ago.”
“Yeah?”
“Mmhmm, my editor fucking destroyed my first one, so we’ll see how this draft goes over.”
“You know, I’ve been wondering, Cher, when the hell did you get that trucker’s mouth of yours?” She laughs big and bright, shoulders shrugging up to her ears, a little flail to her hands that makes him laugh too.
“I mean, it’s definitely a New York thing. That, and people just started pissing me off a lot more, so I kinda had to.”
“I tried to cut back on it when Sarah got old enough to start picking stuff up. She still managed to slip a few fucks into her vocabulary in the first grade.”
“Oh god, I actually got called into the school when Ellie was in the first grade because she told a boy at recess to leave her the fuck alone. Honestly, I was more proud than anything else, is that bad?”
“Fuck no, it’s not bad. I’d probably take Sarah for ice cream if she did the same.” She sighs around a smile, and he finds himself doing the same, settling into this ease. Yes, he thinks, it’s going to take some getting used to. But he’s more than happy to be getting used to it with her.
“I’d like to get it on my right shoulder, if that works okay.” If her mother could see her now. She doesn’t look in the mirror until the tattoo artist has stamped the stencil into place, a satisfied hum in her throat when she gets a look at the design.
Frankly, she wasn’t sure if she was going to keep this appointment. She had made it under the pleasant flush of two glasses of wine late one night about a month ago, surprised to receive an email from the artist saying that they loved her idea and wanted to get her on the books. And for some reason, she didn’t say no, didn’t cancel, and is now laying out on a tattoo table and bracing for the first pass of the needle.
It’s not too bad, a little cringey when the artist is working right over the cap of her shoulder, but otherwise it passes quickly, and before she knows it, she’s standing back in front of the mirror on shaky legs, looking at the twining cherry branch now wrapping around her upper arm.
“It’s perfect, thank you. I love it.” Ellie has rather different feelings about it, her jaw dropping loose when Cherry meets her outside of her school, still warm enough that she’s only in a t-shirt, showing off part of her still-wrapped ink.
“What is that?” There’s no playing it off, Ellie refusing to move until Cherry gives her an answer.
“That is a tattoo, and before you ask, no, not until you’re eighteen.” Ellie balks at that, though Cherry is quick to sling her arm around her girl’s shoulders to set them both walking toward the subway.
“Is it– what is it?” Ellie takes the one leftover seat in the train and Cherry hooks her elbow around the rail in front of her, a perfect opportunity for her kid to get a better look at her new tattoo.
“It’s a cherry tree.”
“I can’t believe you got a tattoo.” She says it with a sigh, like somehow, this is the worst news ever. Cherry has to hold back a laugh, knowing that it will only put Ellie in even worse of a tiff.
“What’s wrong with tattoos?”
“Nothing, but you’re my mom, you’re not supposed to get tattoos.” Ellie grumbles out the last words, crossing her arms over her chest with a huff, perfectly petulant. Cherry gives her little episode about twenty more minutes before she forgets all about it and asks what’s for dinner.
When they do get back to their apartment, Cherry just barely catches the ringing phone, surprised, though pleasantly, when she hears Will on the other end.
“Hey, what’s going on? Everything okay?”
“Hey, yeah, I just thought I’d give you a call.” She knows exactly what that means. It’s only been recently that she and Will can talk like this, call like this. She got out, and he did too, and for a while that had to be enough for the both of them, slinking around the past like they could somehow forget it. It was Will that reached out to her first, and she was relieved for it, not sure if he resented her, or even hated her for the way she left. He didn’t, he understood, and he wanted to know how his big sister was doing.
“Mom?” He sighs over the phone, exactly what she thought. For some reason, their mother still reaches out to him, an errant phone call that he somehow can’t seem to dodge.
“She called to tell me that they’re moving to Arizona.”
“Oh, lovely.”
“Yeah, so I guess that means Austin has finally been fumigated.” Cherry snorts, trying to let that be funny, though all it really feels is bitter.
“You’re not thinking about going back, are you?” Because suddenly, she is. An impossibility for so long, now a little more possible.
“Hell no, Portland has been good to me. I only just managed to lose the accent.”
“I liked your accent, Will. I’m afraid mine has started sounding a little too Brooklyn lately.”
“Yeah, you have that kinda eternally angry thing going on in your voice now.”
“Hey, I’ll have you know that my eternally angry voice is what gets me book deals.”
“Sure, that’s what it is, miss New York Times bestseller.” She scoffs, a flustered murmur of yeah, yeah, whatever, always quick to change the subject from anything like that.
“You’re still coming for Christmas though, right? I’d– we’d really love to have you. I’ve been telling Ellie about you.” Something new, she never thought Ellie would get any kind of extended family. Definitely no grandparents, but an uncle would be nice.
“Yeah, I’m looking forward to it.” He has something else to say, she can tell by the way his words fizzle out. She doesn’t push though, just waits.
“You don’t think about going back, do you? To Texas?” Her throat tightens, a quick glance down the hall to check that Ellie’s bedroom door is still closed.
“No, why would I want to?”
“Oh come on, out of the two of us I’d say you’d have an actual reason to.”
“What are you talking about?” Like maybe she could bullshit her way out of this, but he is her brother, after all. He always liked Joel, definitely looked up to him. And he was also one of the only people that knew about their relationship, always willing to cover for her sneaking around, for the flat rate price of a new comic book.
“Not what, who.”
“Will, that’s ancient history. That’s– that’s even past ancient history. It was another life.”
“I know, I just– I always thought you two were gonna be it, you know? Even before that summer, y’all were always something else.”
“Careful, they’ll throw you out of Portland for saying y’all like that.” That gets half a laugh out of him, just enough to drop the subject.
“All this talk of Texas must be getting to me. Anyways, just wanted to call and tell you the big news or whatever.”
“Alright, well, big news aside, it’s always good to hear from you. I’ll talk to you soon, okay?”
“Yeah, sis, love you.”
“Love you too.” That’s new, she’s glad for it.
Afternoons, after school, but before dinner, this is her favorite time. Sometimes, Ellie will still let her help with her homework, or at least allow her presence on the edge of her bed while she works, might even answer a few questions about her day or her friends. Eleven going on thirty, or something like that. By the time dinner rolls around, her girl has warmed up to her enough to sit at the kitchen counter while she chops vegetables.
“So, why a cherry tree?”
“Oh, it’s an old story, a friend of mine from a long time ago, not interesting. Hey, I saw the email from the school about career day next week, were you gonna tell me about that?” A quick change of subject, two birds with one stone, really. Ellie’s face scrunches up at her question.
“Yeah, but like, you’re too busy for it anyways.” She barely looks up from her math worksheet as she says it, like no big deal, though Cherry’s stomach immediately sinks.
“Woah, woah, babe, I am absolutely not too busy for that. I’m never too busy for you, what– why do you think that?” Ellie just shrugs, still intent on her fractions.
“Because of the new book and stuff. You’re very preoccupied.” One of her new vocab words for the week, preoccupied, right.
“Els, will you look at me, please? I am never too busy for you, okay? None of that shi–stuff matters more than you do. And I’d really love to go to career day, if you want me to be there.” Ellie seems to consider that proposition, a big burst of relief when she nods.
“Yeah, you’re cooler than a lot of the other parents anyways. They all do boring stuff for work.” She’ll take it, trying to temper her grin at her girl’s small praise as she gets back to prepping dinner. She’ll have to remember to wear long sleeves for career day, not wanting to give the PTA moms any more gossip fodder than they already have about her. Single mom, single writer mom with no family to be heard of. Not a very good look to all those upper-crust types, not that she could give a shit about it. But she doesn’t want her black sheepness to rub off on Ellie, play dates and hang outs to be scheduled and all that, so, definitely long sleeves for career day.
Much later, Ellie in bed reading, and no impending emails or phone calls, Cherry finally takes another look at the tattoo before getting in the shower.
If nothing else, ever, at least this.
“So.” She says it all long and drawn out, her hands clasped behind her back as she sways a little in front of his truck, sooooo. It’s dark out by the time they leave the restaurant, both of them a little loose, a little languid from a few glasses of wine, though he’s still sober enough to feel a lick of nerves run up his spine as he tries to figure out what’s the right next move, what normal people do on a date like this.
“Sarah is at Tommy’s for the night, if you don’t have to be home just yet?” No, probably not what normal people do on a first date. But no, not their first date either, not really. And nothing normal about this either, not really. Cherry, smiles, all crooked shadows in the faint glow coming from the restaurant. She really is a sight. He’s been stealing sweeping glances all night, collecting her up in pieces in his mind. The bare skin of her thighs, just a suggestion of it with the slip of her dress. Her dress, he thinks she knows that it’s just a little cruel that she’s wearing that dress judging by the way she moves, shoulders rolled back, always a ghost of a grin like she’s getting away with something. Instinct or just plain impulse to reach out for her, to let his knuckles graze along the neckline of her dress, the smallest shiver when he trails from the sweet plunge up along the slope of her shoulder.
“Ellie was going to a sleepover, so I don’t have to be anywhere until my chauffeur services are needed tomorrow.”
“Yeah?”
“Mmhmm.”
He is trying, all of his effort, really, to focus on the road when they start driving back to his house. But Cherry isn’t exactly making it easy with the way her hand is splayed on his thigh, and he has to clear his throat when her nails graze along the inseam of his pants.
“Everything alright?” He only glances away for a beat, though it’s enough time to see the smug curl of her smile.
“You– you’re–” His breath hitches before he can finish that thought, Cherry’s knuckles grazing against his already aching cock through his pants, though her hand is gone just as soon, settling lower, just above his knee.
“What am I, baby?”
“I think you know what you are.” Her laugh comes in bells, chirping high as she tips her head back, the shock-white flash of her teeth in the corner of his eye.
“I think you like it.” High, like wings fluttering each word she says. He doesn’t say anything, his eyes still on the road while he reaches across the console for her, his palm slipping from her shoulder up the slope of her neck, fingers curling around her nape and his thumb stroking the hinge of her jaw, his own silent answer, his.
They’re both quiet stepping inside his house, lights off so the rooms are washed down in dark swaths of shadow. Up the stairs and into his room, she doesn’t look at the books this time, all her attention on him.
No need to rush, no need to hide, no need to lie about what this really is. A first for two decades later, they can take their time with each other, because there will be plenty more of it to offer, to receive.
“I thought about you, you know.” He knows that she’s talking about a particular kind of thinking about him, her eyes heavy with it.
“Show me, Cher.” Broken thoughts that somehow still get pieced together, the easy slip of her dress falling around her feet, stepping out of fabric and laying back on his bed. Perfect like this, her knees bent and falling open to the sides. He finds himself sitting down on the edge of the bed, his palm cupping the slope of her calf before sliding down, fingers curling loosely around her ankle. Something to tether him, to convince him that this is real, that all her want is for him. From the start, she was always surprising him, always finding some fresh way to make his head spin. She still is. Propped up on one elbow, her other palm trailing down the center of her chest, pausing there to let her fingers graze against her nipple, the smallest hitch of her breath making his cock pulse. And then lower, his eyes going heavy watching her hand move over the soft clench of her stomach before settling just over her pelvis. Forefinger and middle spreading herself open for him to see, swollen and pearling pleasure, obscene and a little world-ending.
And it’s his name. His name that she whispers when she dips two of her fingers into her cunt, his hand curling a little closer around her ankle at the sight and sound. A slick smear of heat, the way the tendons in her hips jump with the effort of staying splayed for him, slack and then tense all over when the pads of her fingers catch against her clit.
Please, not enough, please, want you. But he wants to see, her preening pleas falling on deaf ears. Because he wants to see how she thought about him all those miles away, years away, and aching for him. And he was aching for her too. Go on, Cher, just like that. She huffs, brow pulling down in a pinch of frustration, but she still allows, the small jump of her wrist, the veins in her hand jittering as two fingers find a stuttered rhythm, her hips tilting into each thrust. And he’s mean for doing this, cruel even, slipping sorry beneath his palm as it skates up her shin, smoothing and soothing. I know, I know, it’s not enough, is it? Never enough he thinks, it was never enough.
“Stop teasing, come here.” Never saying no to her, and he already knows it, making as quick work as he can of the buttons of his shirt, the warm flush of bare skin against bare skin when he finally settles between her legs, one palm splayed next to her temple and the other bunched in the sheets beside her hip. All brilliant machinery, two bodies moving together like they never stopped, her knee hitching up along his hip as his palm slides down along the soft skin of the inside of her thigh. He rests his thumb over her clit, presence more than anything else, though Cherry doesn’t allow that for long, another huff, another don’t tease that he chases after with a hard stamp of a kiss.
And when he finally spreads her open with one shuddering snap of his hips, his breath gets caught in his chest, pleasure finally catching up to him and crackling down his spine. His mouth rests open and wanting below the dip of her clavicle, the slight press of skin that comes with each of her inhales, like a bird beating around in her ribs, short and stuttered and certain.
Quiet whispers, need you to move, baby, that word never failing to snare his mind, all he can do to give her what she wants with a slow roll of his hips that’s already turning greedy in the way he grinds into the plush of her ass at the end, a high sound stopping itself in the back of her throat.
And no, not taking their time, both of them growing desperate for that tight furl of pleasure settling between them. Just a little obscene in the way the bed scrapes against the floor with every thrust, the sound melding and mixing with the breathy little moans Cherry can’t seem to stop, not that he would want her to. He groans when he reaches between them to thumb at her clit, her cunt dripping around him, a dizzying flutter of heat that he wants more of. And when Cherry says more, right there something snaps in him, animal, incessant in the way he slips his palms under the swell of her ass, lifting her hips up so her thighs rest over his, fucking up into her from his haunches, strong enough that he can do that now, move and make her with his hands like this. Pulled taut, her body one long line of pleasure, he watches the perfect tendons in her throat jump with a whine of his name.
It’s a devastating heat when she does come, spine arching before she slumps down in his grasp. He stills inside her, a whimper in her throat when his hips absent-mindedly shift against hers. C’mere, c’mere, pulling him down, her palms running up his sides before slipping over his shoulders, mapping him out as she catches her breath.
“I love you so much, Joel.” The sound he makes is pathetic at best, a little broken battering in his ribs. And he should ask if she’s good, if he can, if it’s okay for him to, but he needs it so bad, needs her so bad that he’s already finding that rhythm again, harsh breaths with each thrust. Not far behind her, not with the way she’s murmuring all her want into his ear, something that sounds like love when that pleasure finally snaps and shimmers under his skin.
Perfect like this in the after, holding onto each other, mouths finding whatever slip of skin they can, kissing it better.
“It’s you and me, Cher. I love you.” Her fingers still in their gentle sweep through his hair, a little tug to get his eyes up to hers.
“Plus two.” Confused at first, he has to laugh when his brain catches up to what she’s saying.
“Right, you and me, plus two.”
Her least favorite time of the day, or night, really. Ellie asleep, just her and the blinking cursor in her word document. It’s about this time every night that it settles back in under her skin. She doesn’t know what to call it. Loneliness feels pitiful, and patently untrue because she has her girl, and that’s all she needs. It’s like an ache, like a physical lack that she manages to forget about in all the fret and fuss of the day, still there, still sore.
Tonight, something particular to soothe that ache. That damn web page, and that damn photo of him. Different, older, but still him. A small part of her, a young part, wonders if he has read her books, if he’s seen her photo on the dust jackets and traced all the small nicks and nips of time the same way that she does now, her face pressed close to the screen of her computer to collect up any new detail.
She quits while she’s ahead, sigh, shut the whole thing off, rubbing the heels of her palms into her eyes to try to stamp out the picture of him.
An ache, a want, that has been there for nearly two decades. When Will had told her about their parents moving out of Austin, hope had been quick to flicker up and around her ribs, a silly thing. Silly to ache like this, to want like this, to presume that he’s been waiting around for her.
She’s been waiting for him though, she realizes. Wanting for him. So would it be so crazy to think that, maybe, he’s been wanting for her too?

✸ SLYTHERIN!LUKE MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
The day of Grad had finally came. You knew everybody in your year was excited, having spent 7 years at Hogwarts and were ready to move on.
“You look so pretty!” Kielle says as she enters your room, her voice buzzing with joy. She had her graduation gown and cap on, her makeup looked amazing.
“Have you seen yourself Ms. Kiels?”
“Oh stop it,”
You had put your phone on Do Not Disturb, not wanting anything or anyone to interrupt your getting ready process. You had to look perfect, this was the last time you were going to be at Hogwarts.
“Babe, I’ve been calling you.” Mark enters your room along with Luke, who looks absolutely entranced by you.
“Sorry Marky, you know I don’t like distractions when I’m getting ready.”
Over the past year, you and Luke’s relationship had grown greatly, and so has Mark’s and Kielle’s. You four were no longer immature teenagers who couldn’t handle criticism, but now newly blossomed adults.
“Are you guys ready?” Luke comes up from behind you, pulling you into a small back hug.
“As ready as I’ll ever be.”
When Professor McGonagall all called you up to receive your diploma, you could’ve swore you were gonna breakdown right then and there.
You couldn’t believe you were actually graduating from the one place you had called home to for 7 years.
When you turn around to hug Kielle, you could see tears filling her eyes, something that quickly brought tears to your eyes as well.
Man, you hated this part of graduating. The goodbyes, the crying, and the reminiscing.
“Hey, don’t cry,” Mark says as he takes Kielle away from your arms. She sobs into his shoulders, and Luke is quick to pull you into his arms.
“You okay lovie?” He asks, eyes searching yours for any sign of crying.
“I’m okay Lukey,” you turn around to give him a tight hug.
“Guys! Don’t be so sad!” Luke says when you pull away, arms wrapping themselves around his two best friends, “we four are spending the entire summer together, so quit the crying, alright? You’re gonna make me cry,”
Kielle wipes her tears, giggling at Luke’s words. Him, crying? Never in a million years.
The only time Luke has ever cried was when you two were broken up and he had regretted ever making that decision.
You all waved a final goodbye to your classmates, knowing in the future, you might run into them in the grocery stores with their own families and greet them and laugh back on the days spent at Hogwarts.
Luke even gave a small hug to Teddy Wellings, a boy who had been his partner in Potions prior and whom Luke had scared the complete shit out of.
“Good luck out there Wellings,” Luke says as he gives the boy a small grin.
“Wow, I never thought you would smile at me,” Teddy jokes, “but thank you Luke. My favorite Potions partner.”
“I was your only partner,”
“It’s the thought that counts!”
You silently make your way over to Evermore, one of the first girls you had ever befriended at Hogwarts.
“Hey Morie,” you say, slinging your arms around her shoulders.
She quickly turns around, giving you the brightest smile ever. “YNNN!”
“The one and only,”
She pulls you into a tight hug, chin on your shoulders as she rubs your back in a comforting motion.
“Thank you Morie.”
“For what?”
“For dragging me to the Quidditch match that one day. If it weren’t for you, I would’ve never had the courage to approach Luke, and we probably would’ve never dated.”
Evermore laughs, wiping away a few tears that had came down her cheeks. “Well I’m glad that Luke has such a wonderful and caring girlfriend like you, and I’m grateful that we became friends, YN. You’re always welcome into my life anytime, okay?”
Her words make you let out a sob, nodding as you two hug each other even more tightly.
“Alright, are we ready to go?” Kielle appears from behind you, giving you and Evermore a small smile.
“Yeah, I’m ready,” you give one more hug to Evermore, intertwining your hands with hers one last time before you leave. “I’ll miss you Morie.”
“I’m always just one call away Y/nie,”
- -
You all decided to spend the summer at Luke’s lake house. His brothers weren’t home the entire summer—Jack being with his girlfriend while Quinn was overseas. It was a perfect getaway.
“Hi darling,” Luke takes a seat next to you on the dock, admiring how pretty you looked with your sunkissed skin.
“Lukey,” you pull him into a small hug, one that he doesn’t pull away from until minutes after. He loved being with you in the sun, it was warm and made him feel a million times better just being by your side.
“Cannonball!” The loud voice of Mark runs throughout the entire house. You and Luke quickly part away to make space for the running boy, who, annoyingly so, cannonballs in the water, splashing you and Luke with a bunch of water.
“Mark I’m so gonna kill you!” Luke screams jokingly through soaked eyes.
“Uh huh, come join me in the water Lukey boy, it’s cold!”
You see your boyfriend roll your eyes, but extends his hand towards you so both of you can take a dip in the lake.
“Where’s Kiels?” You ask, wondering where the blonde girl was.
“She’s making BBQ for us right now! Said she didn’t want to get her lash extensions wet, whatever that means.”
Luke and Mark start splashing water on each other, making you laugh silently. Suddenly, Luke gets out of the water, shaking his body of the remaining droplets.
“I’ll be right back,” he says to you and Mark. “Mark, don’t drown my girl.”
“Wouldn’t dream of it Hughes!”
It’s about twenty minutes later when you realize that your boyfriend isn’t back yet. Confused, you dry yourself with a towel before making your way to the backyard, where Kielle was grilling the marinated meats.
“I don’t know Kielle,” you hear Luke say in a hushed tone.
“Lu, you’re gonna have to tell her sooner or later,” Kielle sighs, turning around to place a hand on Luke’s shoulder. “The more you drag it on, the harder it’ll be.”
Your eyebrows furrow. What were they talking about? Was Luke cheating on you?
It couldn’t be. Kielle loved Mark too much to do that—and you know Luke would never do that to you. But the words that came out both of their mouths said something different.
It didn’t help that Luke and Kielle had kissed once at a party during your sixth year at Hogwarts.
You walk quietly back to the dock, not wanting Luke and Kielle to have seen you. Your head was filled with questions that made it difficult for you to think properly.
“Hey, you okay?” Mark leans his chin against the dock, looking up at you. “Did you find Luke?”
“Yep,” you mumble underneath your breath.
Mark raises his eyebrows, but doesn’t further question. He pulls himself out of the lake, “cmon YN, let’s get to eating!”
The lunch was pretty awkward for you, since everybody else was talking while you were sitting in silence. Luke, being the observant boyfriend he is, notices your discomfort and intertwines his hands with yours.
You should feel comforted—you should feel better now that you were holding his hand, but were you the only one that had the privilege of doing so? Or was Kielle another person that also had those rights?
It wasn’t until the sun set and the sky was dark that you and Luke were able to get some alone time at the lake. Mark and Kielle had practically kicked you both out of Luke’s own house, but they said it would only be for an hour.
“They’re totally banging,” Luke says, a grin plastered over his face. If you weren’t so insecure, you would’ve laughed along, but instead you chose to stay silent.
Luke’s smile quickly disappears when he sees this, and he pulls you into a side hug, your bodies now touching. “What’s wrong lovie?”
“Are you cheating on me?”
Those five words make Luke choke, eyes widened and face flushed. “What?!”
“Luke Warren Hughes, are you cheating on me?”
“Of course not!” Luke stands up, flabbergasted at such an accusing question from you, “why—why would you even think that YN?”
“Because I heard you and Kielle talking about how you had to tell me something! I don’t know Luke—you guys are pretty close.”
“Yeah that’s because she’s like my best friend since first year,” Luke brings his hand to his hair, ruffling it in distress. “No YN, I’m not cheating on you.”
“Then what was it that you were gonna tell me that was so hard to say?”
Luke sighs, eyes looking directly into yours. “YN, I’m moving to Michigan.”
You could’ve swore your eyes popped out of your sockets in this very moment.
“Michigan? Why?”
“Well, when we were in our fall semester of our last year, I decided to apply to some muggle universities. I looked at UMich, and I really liked it YN. I want to do something with my life outside of Quidditch. They have this hockey program that is just amazing. So I applied and I got my congratulatory letter back in January. I’m sorry.”
It feels like your brain completely halts, forgetting how to speak or think.
“Lovie, please say something.”
“I don’t know what to say Lu,” your legs almsot give out onto the dock if it weren’t for Luke catching you and gently sitting you down. Even at times like this, Luke always knew how to take care of you. “I’m proud of you—I am. I just always thought we would go to uni in England, you know? Michigan is so far.”
“I know lovie,” Luke places a few strands of your hair that had gotten in the way behind your ear, “but Umich is a great place. I think I’d really fit in.”
Of course you couldn’t ask Luke to stay in London with you. That would be selfish. Your boyfriend seemed so passionate about going to Michigan that if you had cried at this very moment, you would feel incredible guilt.
“That’s great Lu, that’s great.”
Luke sighs as he watches you fall apart in his arms. Instead of talking more, he decides to rub your back comfortingly, placing tiny kisses on your tanned shoulders.
“We can do long distance can’t we Lu?”
Luke places his hand under your chin, making you look up at him. The sad look on his face already telling you what you didn’t want to hear.
“Lovie. I thought about this for a while, ever since I got my acceptance letter. I love you YN, don’t you ever doubt that, but I think it would be unfair for the both of us to do long distance when our time zones are so different and we have so much going on in our lives,”
You shake your head quickly, your tears making your vision too blurry to even look at Luke clearly. “No Lu, I’m willing to do whatever—”
“But I’m not,” Luke holds the both of your hands in his, eyes glossy and red. “Lovie, I can’t keep the promise that I will have time for you when I go to Umich. I’ll be so busy with hockey and studies and with our time zones, we wouldn’t even be able to call properly. I just can’t have anyone holding me back, and I most certainly don’t want to hold you back either. There’s just no way that I’ll end up being with you.”
“Is this what this is all about?” You scoff, wiping away your tears furiously. “You think I’m going to hold you back Luke?”
“It just wouldn’t work—”
“No Luke, it’s fine.” You pull away from his arms, now standing up. “You’re right. You’re completely right. This long distance thing will just fuck us up in the future, so we might as well end it now right?”
Luke gulps, not expecting you to be so upset with him. This was the last thing he wanted.
“YN,” he practically begs. “Please don’t make this harder than it already is.”
“I won’t Luke,” you sigh, “I guess we’re over then. Thank you for everything.”
You walk away that night with your heart broken and tears streaming out of your eyes. This night was the final day before summer was over, and while your original plans were to spend the entire night with Luke by your side, you ended up sleeping in the guest room of his house.
Mark and Kielle were painfully aware of the tension in the room the next day. Both not wanting to add fuel to the fire, Mark decides to take Luke out swimming to calm his nerves while Kielle stayed with you and made fruits for the both of you.
“I take it that he told you he’s going to Umich.” She says, handing you a bowl of cut watermelon.
“Yeah, yesterday night.” You take a bite, too upset to properly enjoy the sweetness of the fruit. “I feel bad, you know? I’m proud of him for getting in—it’s just, I thought we would spend our lives in London together. I never thought he’d go off to the States and we’d break up.”
“I know honey,” Kielle pulls you into her arms, letting your tears soak onto her top. “If it makes you feel better, Umich didn’t only take Luke, but they also took Mark.”
“No way,” you say, “Mark got in too?”
“Yup, our boys are gonna be playing hockey together.”
You wince at her mention of “our boys”, knowing that Luke was no longer yours.
“Oh I’m sorry YN, I mean Luke and Mark are gonna be playing together.”
“It’s fine Kiels,” you reassure her. The bowl of fruits seemed to be more interesting to you than anything else in the world right now. You just wanted to go home and cry it all out.
“I’ll still be in London,” Kielle speaks up after a while. “You’ve still got me,”
You give her a small smile, nodding slowly.
Curse you Michigan, for taking my boyfriend.
- -
The day for Mark’s and Luke’s departure had come quicker than ever, the two boys now standing outside the gate to board for Michigan.
Even though you and Luke were now exes, you couldn’t miss the chance to say your final goodbye to him. If you had stayed home, you knew you would’ve regretted it for the rest of your life.
“Flight 380 now boarding,” the microphone says. “Flight 380.”
It was Luke’s flight. You had memorized the number when Kielle first mentioned it after your breakup with him.
“Hey,” you say as you approach Luke, who’s currently rechecking all his luggage.
“Hey.”
The silence between the two of you is awkward, and filled with so much longing. But neither of you are able to speak up, too afraid to do so.
“I’ll miss you, you know?”
Luke cracks a smile at that, his eyes sad. “I’ll miss you too lovie.”
You swore you almost cried when he had used the pet name that he’s been calling you since the beginning of your relationship.
“Will you come visit me every year?”
“Of course I’ll come visit you every year,”
You couldn’t help but pull the taller boy into a tight hug, not wanting to ever let go. You let your arms wrap themselves tightly around his waist as you bury your head into his chest.
“Don’t be a stranger, alright?” You say, tears rolling down your cheeks.
“How could I ever be?” He sniffles, laughing slightly.
“Alright Luke, we have to head on now,” Mark says, slightly pulling the boy back.
Luke gives you one final smile before leaving, but your eyes never leave him. Not until the gates are fully closed, and the loss of Luke’s presence starts to hit you.
“It’s okay,” Kielle comforts you as the both of you make your way back to her car. “I’ve got you.”

RE8 women get pregnant by Y/N: Alcina
18+ Minors DNI
Alcina was a woman with a serious sexual appetite. It was all Y/N could do to keep up with her.
Y/N was so in love. Whatever Alcina needed, they would do it for her.
When Y/N entered her life, Alcina never felt happier. It was like they completed her.
Recently, however, Alcina had started to feel very exhausted. It wasn’t unusual for her to take multiple naps in a day. This frightened her. She never needed to rest this much and she felt like something might be wrong.
Y/N, thankfully, hadn’t seemed to notice. Alcina felt it was better this way. If something was wrong, she wanted to find out what it was before worrying her little Y/N about it.
She decided that she would have to pay Mother Miranda a visit. If anyone knew how to help, it was her.
As Miranda ran some basic tests on Alcina to discover more about her new symptoms, she was turning up nothing. It seemed that Alcina’s mutation had not changed on a cellular level (Which was a good thing, but still concerning because she didn’t know what was going on).
In the priestess’s frustration, she began to run tests that shouldn’t even apply to Alcina. Something had to show up, right?
She ran metabolic panels for days on end, until she discovered something about Alcina’s hormone levels. Miranda nearly did a spit take as she drank her tea and read over the lab reports.
According to all of Alcina’s bloodwork… It seemed she was pregnant.
Miranda freaked out a little bit. How was this possible with the cadou and Alcina’s blood disease that she had prior to her implantation?
Miranda cringed when she realized something else. She was going to have to tell Alcina the results. She wasn’t sure how the countess would take the news.
Miranda decided to just be short, sweet and to the point, so she gave Alcina a call to ask her to come by her lab to discuss her test results.
Alcina was nervous about what Mother Miranda had to say, but she needed to know.
Miranda and Alcina wasted little time on pleasantries when she arrived.
Miranda decided to just spit it out. “Alcina, my dear. I’ve run some blood tests and it turns out that you are pregnant…” Miranda braced for screaming and crying, but instead Alcina laughed as if Miranda had just told a funny joke.
“That was very good, Mother Miranda. You had me going for a few seconds, there.” Alcina said.
Miranda rolled her eyes before moving to sit beside Alcina and holding her hand. “Alcina, I know this is a lot to take in, but you are going to have a baby. I’m serious.”
The hushed tone Miranda spoke in and the pointedness of her stare made Alcina gasp.
A baby? She had always wanted to have a baby, but she wasn’t able to in her human form, she was too ill.
How was this possible now? The only person she had been with for years was Y/N.
Oh shit. Y/N. How were they going to take this? Alcina couldn’t bear the thought of them leaving her over this.
How were the girls going to take this? They all had a penchant towards jealousy.
Miranda wiped silent tears from Alcina’s eyes as she processed all of the information.
Alcina hugged Miranda and thanked her for telling her the news.
Mother Miranda did not want to pry, but she needed to know what Alcina wanted to do so she could plan for Alcina’s care moving forward.
“What are you thinking of doing now, Alcina?”
The question hung heavy in the air. While Alcina would never change her life for anything… She had always wondered what it was like to be pregnant. That thought brought a small smile to her lips. It seemed that now she would find out.
Alcina gently placed a hand on her stomach where her child would soon be growing.
She looked to Miranda with happy tears. “I’m keeping it. I don’t know how the others will react, but this is what I want. I’ve waited so long.” Alcina beamed as she rubbed calming circles over her abdomen, hoping to convey her love to her newest child.
Miranda was shocked. She didn’t see this coming. “Alright… Well, I need to gather some vitamins for you, and then I’ll need to… Um. Alcina, dear. I’ll call you when I have what I need to give you.” Miranda went on rambling about what she had to get.
Alcina chuckled at Miranda before saying goodbye. The priestess waved goodbye, distractedly, as she went along trying to find everything she was looking for.
Alcina made her way back to the castle, with excitement and happiness.
However, when she opened the door, she rolled her eyes at what she saw.
Cassandra was dangling Y/N by the leg off the side of the staircase railing and yelling about something they had done, while Bela and Daniela were arguing with each other about something completely different just below them.
Telling them the news was going to be a nightmare. She hoped Y/N wouldn’t blow a gasket.
Daniela spotted Alcina first. “Guys, shut up! Mother’s here!” She said as she pointed at Alcina, who was quite unamused.
Cassandra panicked and instantly let go of Y/N and they fell on top of Bela. The eldest pushed Y/N off of her, annoyed.
“Hey, babe!” Y/N called out as they stood up and blew a raspberry at Bela.
“Hello, Mother!” The girls said in near unison.
Alcina crossed her arms. “I don’t even want to know what went on here while I was gone.” She huffed.
The four of them grimaced at Alcina’s disappointment.
“Now, I have something to tell you all. Everyone sit down.” Alcina pointed to the couch. Everybody quickly made their way over.
Alcina sat down next to them all. She bit her lip, hoping to think of the best way to break the news. In the end, she decided to be honest.
“My loves, things will be changing around the castle very soon.” Everyone looked at each other, confused.
Alcina sighed and just spilled it. “I’m going to have a baby.”
Well that did it. The girls all turned and started hitting Y/N and berating them about how they had “defiled” their mother.
Cass choked Y/N before they even had a chance to react to what Alcina said.
“Enough!” Alcina roared.
Everybody stopped as Y/N coughed and spluttered.
“I can’t deal with this foolishness for the next nine months!” Alcina rubbed her eyes and, despite herself, got a little bit teary.
Y/N tried to do damage control. “Don’t cry, babe! We’ll stop, won’t we girls?” Y/N glared at them.
The girls winced and went to snuggle Alcina.
“Yes, mother! We’ll take good care of you!” Bela wrapped her arms around Alcina.
“Anything you need, we’ll do it!” Cass piped up and clung to Alcina’s shoulder.
“I won’t even laugh at you when you get fat!” Dani tried to be helpful.
Cass smacked the back of Dani’s head.
Alcina groaned. She sat up straighter and hugged the girls back. She looked over at Y/N. “What do you think, draga?”
To be honest, Y/N was freaking out, but they tried to hide it for Alcina. “N-no worries! We’ve got this!” Y/N gave her a thumbs up.
The girls let go of Alcina and looked at Y/N who was clearly about to lose it.
Alcina smirked and held her arms out to Y/N, ushering them in for a hug.
Y/N burst into tears and ran into Alcina’s embrace. “What are we gonna do?!” They cried and snuggled into Alcina’s front.
Alcina rubbed Y/N’s back and kissed their head. She smiled despite Y/N’s fears. “What’s this ‘we’ business? I’m the one who’s pregnant.”
Suffice it to say, the castle was an absolute circus while they all waited for the newest family member to arrive.

You didn’t believe in ghosts. You weren't strong in this opinion, it was just a matter of not believing everything you saw on the internet. You never had any personal experiences with ghosts yourself, so you had no reason to actually believe in them.
While this didn’t mean a lot, it did mean that the house everyone avoided on the corner was about to be yours.
You knew the stories and the warnings:
Be careful! You know they say those boys haunt those walls!
It was brutal what happened here, are you sure it’s safe?
Good luck! They say those who move in there either leave dead or never leave!
Honestly, it didn’t deter you. A brutal murder of two brothers in the 90s should have scared you. However, you went in for a showing, and the place seemed perfectly fine. It was the cheapest place you could buy, and you couldn’t stand having a landlord anymore. Ghosts are miles better than landlords, at least they live in the place and don’t just act like they do.
You took the deal. The move in process was pretty easy, too. You borrowed a work friend’s truck, and you and her brought in some of your heavier furniture (your old mattress, the couch you bought on Facebook, the TV you got from a friend who couldn’t take it with him), and the rest of the boxes you and her just piled into the living room. You thanked her, paying her for her help as well, and then it was just you, standing in your new, box-filled living room.
You took a deep breath as you looked around, almost stunned by the stillness of the room. You’d never actually lived on your own before, always some family or roommate with you, so it was… almost uncomfortable to see an empty room with no sound.
The silence was broken after a moment, though, your phone ringing loudly from the kitchen counter. You walked over and answered, starting to unpack as you spoke on the phone.
“Hello?”
“Hi, sweetie, how’s the move going?” It was your mum, voice kind and welcoming.
“It’s good, mum,” you chuckled, opening up your first box of kitchenware, “Working on boxes now.”
“That’s good, I’m glad to hear it.” You could hear her smile through the phone. “The place is nice?”
“Yeah, the house is really nice,” you carefully shifted some pots into the back of the cabinet, “it’s an older house, but it’s lovely. The backyard is really pretty too, I think you’d love it. Really peaceful.”
“Oh, love, not to be rude, but I don’t imagine I’ll be coming there anytime soon.”
“I know, I know, you don’t like the drive.”
“Well, yes, but…” you could hear the apprehension in her voice, “sweetie, you’ve heard about this… place you’re living in, of course. I’m not sure how safe it is.”
You chuckled, standing up fully and leaning against the kitchen counter, “Never took you for a believer in ghosts, mum.”
The air felt a bit tense around you.
“Well, when you’re my age, sweetheart, you’d rather not test your luck.”
That brought a laugh out of you, “Mum, you don’t look a day over thirty.” You smiled, looking around the house a bit. “Besides, have you even heard the full story?”
“I’ve heard about the brutal murder part, but I suppose not much else.”
“It was two boys,” you sighed softly, “Eighteen and twenty-six. If ghosts are even real, I don’t imagine they’d want to cause much trouble. If anything, they’d probably be scared.”
A rattling sound came from your left, causing you to falter in your words. You walked to see the source of the noise, quickly noticing a few of the pots still in the box had shifted, presumably having fallen over.
You continued speaking easily, “I mean, god, mum, imagine dying and being forced to live in the place you were killed while seeing tens of people move into your home. I’d be confused and scared too.”
“I suppose,” you heard your mother reply, and it felt like some of the tension left the room. “Either way, just promise me, you’ll be safe? If anything seems amiss, I can call my sister-“
“Oh, god, mum, Aunt Cate couldn’t tell a ghost from a sock, I’d rather not have her in here spewing her Catholic bullshit.”
Your mother laughed, and it made some of the homesickness fade a bit, “Fair enough, dearie. Listen, I’ve got to run, but call me tomorrow, please?”
“I will, mum. I love you.”
“Love you too, dear.”
The line hung up, and you sighed softly, hanging your head for a moment. It felt too quiet already. You opened up Spotify, choosing some random playlist and continuing your work with unpacking. You played some soft indie music, gentle but upbeat guitar flowing from your phone's speaker as you finished unpacking your kitchen. You started working on the living room items, small knick knacks and photos being arranged carefully.
As you cleaned, the playlist took a bit of a wild turn. Instead of the soft plucking of a guitar, the next song starts, and you’re immediately stunned by the sound of some electronic-sounding music. You walked over to your phone which — you didn’t remember leaving it unlocked — was playing a song called “Able Sisters”. From Animal Crossing. Very odd choice. It wasn’t bad though, so you pretty much just shrugged it off, going back to unpacking.
Nothing else weird really occurred that night, and you wouldn’t even consider the music thing that weird. It just was technology being weird. You ordered food, sitting cross-legged on the couch and watching a movie while you ate. After you ate, you cleaned up after yourself and became acutely aware of how you felt far more Adult than you ever had before. You sat back down and relaxed for the first time all day. You were curled into the side of the couch, and to your surprise, you actually didn’t feel very alone. You figured by now you’d be going through your contacts, calling anyone just to feel like there was another person with you. It wasn’t long before you’d fallen asleep, and if you woke up with a blanket around you that certainly hadn’t been near you the night before, you didn’t notice.
You finished your move-in process with little hassle. By the end of the week, you were pretty much completely moved in, save for a few boxes that you had to bring up to the attic. You began to understand why people thought the house was creepy, especially with the amount of creaks and noises you’d hear throughout the day, but given the age of the house, it didn’t bother you.
You carried the boxes upstairs, opening the door to the attic and stacking them up in the corner. You looked around at the attic, smiling softly. There were signs that the attic was lived in, and it was actually kind of nice to see. There were a few things that had been left behind from past owners, and you walked around, taking a look at some of the items. There were a few boxes with things like old clothes, and from looking at them, it hit you that these weren’t any items that had been left behind, but rather the items left behind by the two dead boys’ family. It sent a shiver down your back, but it made you more sad than scared. You went back to one of your boxes, pulling out an old candle and a spare box of matches. There was a small table in the corner of the room, and you set the candle down, lighting it.
Even though you didn’t think there was anyone here, you still spoke outloud, “it’s not much, but I hope it’s something.”
You went back to looking through some of their items, trying to find anything that seemed important to add to the corner table. It relieved you to see that most of the items were non-sentimental items. There were no photos or family heirlooms that had been left behind, just normal items. You did find some smaller objects that you could add to the small table, though, like a red beanie and two CDs. You walked around the small attic a bit more, smiling at an acoustic guitar you found stashed behind some of the boxes. You were shocked by the lack of dust, but it was even more shocking that the guitar was in tune. You didn’t know how to play much except for a few simple chords, so it was at least nice to know there was one up here.
The next object you found was also hidden. It was stashed in the very corner, hidden in a small crevice between paneling in the wall. It was a small compass. You held it up to the light, gently trying to clean some debris off of it. The weird thing happened when you turned the compass over, noticing a small engraving on the back. Before you could read it, though, the compass flew out of your hand, hitting the wall before rolling back into the crevice that you’d found it.
Okay. Definitely weird. You felt your opinion of whether or not ghosts existed being swayed.
“Okay,” you said, backing up a bit, “Sorry. I won’t touch it again.”
You spoke simply. If ghosts were real, you still did believe that they’d probably be more scared than anything, especially if someone was touching their things. And there wasn’t a problem until you’d touched the compass, so you figured that must’ve been something important. If it was something important, you didn’t want to mess with it. It wasn’t yours, point-blank. So, instead, you went back to cleaning up the attic, sorting through boxes and neatly arranging them, and adding small things you’d find to the table in the corner. By the time you finished it was nearly dinner, so you carefully put out the candle (not wanting it to be burning unsupervised) and went downstairs to make dinner.
The few days past that went by with pretty much no weirdness. You truly weren’t sure what to believe now. You almost thought yourself crazy, but it was probably just a side effect of not having left the house since you’d moved in. You had work today, though. It was your first day back, and for whatever reason, you felt nervous. You definitely seemed it too. You nearly burnt your breakfast, cursing and fretting around the kitchen, a slight shake to your hands. You chose an outfit for the day, setting it on the bed. You rushed to take a shower, leaving the bathroom humid and steamy. You got dressed and finished making yourself look presentable before making some coffee to bring with you to work. You kept fretting with your hair and fidgeting. You walked back to the bathroom, trying to double check your hair. The mirror was still fogged up, causing you to groan.
Instead, though, you felt your brain short-circuit as you leaned back and words started slowly appearing on the foggy of the mirror.
‘Don’t worry. You look amazing.’
A blush rose to your cheeks as you took a moment to process.
Ghosts?
Yeah. Ghosts.
Nice one, though, at the very least. You weren’t exactly going to scream and run when the compliment did actually help relax you a bit.
“Thank you,” you smiled softly, focusing on the matter at hand a bit more.
“Can you write your name, if you don’t mind? I’d like to know who I’m living with.” The question felt a bit risky, especially since this was the first time you’d gotten proper confirmation that he existed.
‘Wilbur. And the other one is Tommy.’
You nodded, “Well, thank you, Wilbur.” You thought for a moment before your phone alarm went off, letting you know you had to leave for work. You cursed, sighing, “Okay, I have to go, but I’d like to talk more when I get back. Is that possible?”
You awaited a response, and you got one after a moment.
‘:)’
Okay. That’s good. At least you think it is.
You nodded, pulling your bag up on your shoulder before walking to the door. You paused at the door, turning back,
“Bye, Wilbur. Bye, Tommy. I’ll be home later!” you spoke out into the empty room, hoping they were there to hear it, before rushing out the door to work.
Work was uneventful for the most part. A few coworkers asked about your new place, asking if you’d heard any ghosts or creepy things. You decided to lie, telling them that you hadn’t experienced anything. The last thing you’d wanted was people somehow confirming the existence of ghosts and either considering you crazy or trying to make a spectacle of the boys. It was bad enough that they weren’t allowed to move on in the afterlife, you didn’t want to make things worse for them.
You did spend quite a bit of your freetime at work looking things up about ghosts, however. Most of the stuff you found was pretty fake from the looks of it, but honestly, up until you’d moved in, you never even thought about if ghosts were real or not. You found a lot of potentially good information too, though, about pendulums and spirit boards and how to make them at home.
When you got home, you opened the door slowly, humming as you walked in, “Hi, Tommy. Hi, Wilbur. I’m home.” There was a smile on your face. You didn’t get much of a response, not that you were really expecting one, but there was a knocking that let you know you were at least heard.
You went to your room, grabbing an old necklace. It was a simple necklace, a thin silver chain and a small guitar pendant. You also grabbed a pen and a sheet of paper. After a moment, you had an idea as well, printing out a morse code guide. You sat down in front of your coffee table, writing out a circle with ‘Yes’, ‘No’, and ‘Maybe’ written along opposite sides of the circle. You also put the morse code sheet next to you, sighing softly. Okay, communing with the dead. This is nothing. Sure. You can do this.
“So, if you’re ready, and want to communicate, can you move the pendant to yes?” You asked outloud, holding up your necklace over the circle. After a moment, the pendant started swinging to ‘yes’, and you took a slow breath.
“Okay, so for yes and no, we can use this. If you want to elaborate, you can knock with the morse code here, and I can work it out. Does that work?”
Once again, the pendant swung to yes.
You nodded, taking a deep breath.
“Who am I talking to right now? Is this Wilbur? Or Tommy?”
You got no response from the pendant. Instead, you heard knocking on the table, and you started scribing the knocking.
‘-... --- - ....’
You looked down at the sheet. ‘Both’.
You nodded, thinking for a moment, “Is it okay that I’m here?”
The pendant swung to ‘yes’, and you let out a soft breath of relief.
“Are you guys okay? I mean, it-it’s probably scary being stuck as ghosts and such, so…”
There was a long pause before you got any response.
‘.. / .- -- / -. --- - / ... -.-. .- .-. . -.. / .. / .- -- / .- / -... .. --. / -- .- -.’
‘I AM NOT SCARED I AM A BIG MAN’
Before you could even respond, there was more knocking.
‘... --- .-. .-. -.-- --..-- / - .... .- - / .-- .- ... / - --- -- -- -.-- .-.-.- / .-- . .----. .-. . / --- -.- .- -.-- / - .... --- ..- --. .... --..-- / ..-. --- .-. / - .... . / -- --- ... - / .--. .- .-. - .-.-.-’
‘sorry, that was Tommy. We're okay though, for the most part.’
You chuckled softly, “That’s good to hear. Sorry, Tommy, I didn’t mean any offense.”
‘.. - .----. ... / ..-. .. -. . .-.-.- / -.. --- -. .----. - / - --- ..- -.-. .... / -- -.-- / -.-. --- -- .--. .- ... ... / .- --. .- .. -. --..-- / - .... --- ..- --. .... .-.-.-’
‘IT'S FINE. DON'T TOUCH MY COMPASS AGAIN, THOUGH.’
“Oh, of course,” you hummed, “if you want, I can set up an area in the attic for you guys to keep more private things. Two areas, actually, so you guys have your own space. Does that work?”
The pendant swung to ‘Yes’ incredibly fast, and you chuckled.
“Alright, good to hear, then. Speaking of, is there anything you guys want me to do differently? Or maybe that you want me to stop doing?”
There was another long pause.
‘-. --- .. ... .’
‘Noise.’
“Noise?”
‘.-- . .----. .-. . / -- --- .-. . / ... . -. ... .. - .. ...- . / - --- / .-.. --- ..- -.. / -. --- .. ... . ... / -. --- .-- .-.-.-’
‘We’re more sensitive to loud noises now.’
You nodded, “Okay. When I put on the TV or music, just knock and I can turn it down. Or, if you’re able to, you can turn it down yourself. I’m not sure what I can do about my alarm, though… I need them loud to wake up.”
‘.-- . / -.-. --- ..- .-.. -.. / .-- .- -.- . / -.-- --- ..-’
‘WE COULD WAKE YOU’
“You could?”
‘.. / -.-. --- ..- .-.. -.. .-.-.- / -.. --- / -. --- - / .-.. . - / - --- -- -- -.-- / .-- .- -.- . / -.-- --- ..- .-.-.- / .... . / .-- .. .-.. .-.. / -... .-. . .- -.- / ... --- -- . - .... .. -. --. .-.-.-’
‘I could. Do not let Tommy wake you. He will break something.’
You giggled a bit, nodding, “Alright. Sure. I don’t have work tomorrow, so we can test it out, and if not, we can see what else we could do.”
The pendant swung to ‘Yes’, and you hummed happily.
“Alright, if that’s everything, then I’m going to make dinner. But, if you need to get my attention, just knock three times. Or if you have a better way, you can do that too, but still. This is your home before it was mine, and I want to make it be comfortable for you both. You guys are more just like… my ghost roommates. Okay?”
The pendant swung to ‘yes’ once again before you gently set it down.
You stood, going to the kitchen before speaking again, “Oh, and if you want to use anything that’s in the living room, feel free. I don’t mind. If it’s something in my room, just ask first.”
You turned on some music as you started cooking, keeping it low for their sake. You were in your element when you cooked, finding comfort in the motions as you thought about today. Ghosts were real. It was not something you could be indifferent to anymore. Ghosts are real, and not just that, you also lived with two of them. It was actually nice, though. You didn’t feel alone, at least.
You hummed to yourself as you cooked, leaning up on your tiptoes to try and grab a plate from one of the top shelves. You struggled, nearly dropping the plate before it carefully was lifted, seeming to float down from the shelf. Even if you couldn’t see the ghost, you could feel how close he was to you as he gently set the plate down on the counter.
“Thank you,” you spoke softly, cheeks tinted pink. You smiled, once again feeling relieved by the fact that you weren’t alone. In a house known for being scary, you’d never felt safer.
You finished the rest of dinner with ease, taking a plate and walking back to the living room. When you walked back in, you noticed something interesting. The seat on the far left of the couch, while still empty, had your Rubix cube floating, turning occasionally. You chuckled softly, sitting to the far right to eat your dinner. You looked back at the Rubix cube, trying to figure out which one was playing with it.
“Is there anyway for me to tell the difference between you both? Since I can’t see you?”
The Rubix cube paused in it’s movements, and for a moment, you almost wondered if you scared them off.
After a moment, the pendant you had been using earlier lifted, and you watched as the necklace floated to presumably be placed around a neck.
‘.-- .. .-.. -... ..- .-.’
You looked down at the paper. ‘Wilbur.’
You nodded, understanding quickly. “Hold on, I’ll get one for you, Tommy.” You set the plate down, hurrying back to your room and grabbing another old necklace. This one was simpler, a thin black chord with a small silver dog-tag on it.
You walked back in, moving towards the Rubix cube, “Here, Tommy.”
You felt a cold tingle on your hand as the necklace lifted, slowly being arranged around his neck as well. To you, it was just two floating necklaces. However, it gave you enough distinction that you could at least tell who was who.
You smiled, sitting back down to finish eating. You turned on a movie, though you didn’t pay too much attention. You were incredibly aware of the two ghosts sitting next to you. It was Wilbur sitting next to you and next to him was Tommy. It was almost weird how comfortable you felt with them here. Even if they’d been here the entire time, it was different now that there was actual confirmation that they were here. You didn’t know anything about ghosts. You felt completely out of your element. You knew that they could interact with the environment, since they could pick stuff up and put things on, but you didn’t know what else they could do. Could they make noises? Could they become full-blow apparitions? As little as you knew, you felt worried about asking. It took a few days just for them to actually let you know they existed. The last thing you wanted to do was scare them away in their own home.
Could they even leave if they wanted to? People only ever spoke about them being here in the place they were killed. They probably wouldn’t even want to stay here if they had a choice. It made you upset to think about, the fact that they may not have a choice in this whatsoever. You couldn’t tell if you wanted to yell or cry or hug them because of it.
You stood up and cleaned your plate, chewing on your lip while you did. You wished you could help them. If they wanted it. That was another thing you had to consider. Maybe they were happy here. You didn’t know, honestly, and you wanted to know. For now you wouldn’t ask, though. Maybe, hopefully, when you got closer with them.
You walked back over to the couch, sitting back where you had been before. The TV had changed to some ghost show, and it almost made you laugh. You went to grab the remote, but knocking stopped you.
‘- .... .- - / .. ... / -. --- - / .-- .... .- - / .. - / .. ... / .-.. .. -.- . --..-- / - .... . ... . / ..-. ..- -.-. -.- .. -. / .-- .-. --- -. --. ..- -. …’
‘THAT IS NOT WHAT IS IT LIKE, THESE FUCKIN WRONGUNS,’
You snorted, chuckling a bit, “Yeah. Most of these ghost hunting shows are completely made up.” You looked, noting that it was Tommy who had moved. “They fake everything, so they can keep making money, Tommy. It’s stupid. They’ve probably caused more harm than anything else.”
‘- .... .- - .----. ... / -.. ..- -- -... .-.-.- / - .... . -.-- / ... .... --- ..- .-.. -.. / .--- ..- ... - / .- ... -.- / ..-. .. .-. ... - --..-- / .- - / .-.. . .- ... - / - --- / -... . / .... --- -. . ... - / .- -... --- ..- - / .. - .-.-.-.’
‘THAT’S DUMB. THEY SHOULD JUST ASK FIRST, AT LEAST BE HONEST ABOUT IT.’
You sighed, nodding, “I agree. I mean, if there are ghosts there, they’re probably just annoying them. Or even worse, they’re probably scaring them.”
You got no response to that, deciding instead to change the channel to something more lighthearted.
You started getting tired, and you grabbed your blanket, pulling it over your legs. You spread it out as well, letting it cover both of the boys as well. You noticed and looked curiously as you could “see” their legs through the blanket. Obviously, it was just the outline of their – bodies? Ghost form? God, it was starting to confuse you a bit. You chuckled a bit when you noticed, though, smiling softly. At least you weren’t going completely crazy.
You leaned back a bit, leaning your legs on the coffee table as you watched the TV. You felt the cushion behind you shift slightly, a cold and tingly feeling coming across your shoulders. You looked to your right, seeing Wilbur’s necklace shift a bit. Huh. Did he- was his arm around your shoulder?
You felt yourself flush a bit, leaning into the sensation. The tingling feeling went away slowly, and you felt yourself relaxing more and more. It didn’t take much longer before you fell asleep.
When you woke up, you were in your bed. You didn’t remember how you got there. What you did wake up to, though, was a gentle shaking and a chill on your arm. Your eyes fluttered open, and you were met with the sight of a floating necklace. You almost laughed out of absurdity, blinking the sleep out of your eyes.
“Good morning to you too, Wilbur,” you chuckled, slowly sitting up. “Thanks for waking me.”
You stretched, and the only reply you got was a gentle knocking on your nightstand. There was no pattern or morse code used, just a few taps to let you know he was responding.
You stood and got started with your morning, and you noted the soft sound of the necklace Wilbur wore as he followed you out to the living room. It was harder to spot Tommy. What wasn’t hard to spot was the girl sitting in your living room.
“Uh… hello?” You asked, and the girl’s head whipped around to see you.
“Oh! Sorry! Tommy let me in.”
… What? “What? He did?”
She stood, walking over to you, outstretching her hand, “I’m Molly.”
You shook her hand, nodding, “Nice to meet you. Wait- I’m sorry- you know Tommy?”
She nodded quickly, and you noted a light blush on her face, “Yeah. I’ve been visiting this house for a long time, so I’ve known Wilbur and Tommy for a while. Tommy and I are really close.”
You nodded slowly, “Right. Okay. I didn’t realize they had friends.”
“Tom and I are a bit closer than that,” she blushed darker, rubbing the back of her neck, “Wait, you know about them, too. And you’re staying here?” “Yeah. It’s their house, I’m just living in it,” you shrugged. “You and Tommy are… dating?”
“Essentially. Sorry about just coming in, he said you wouldn’t mind.”
“It’s alright. I mean, bit of a scary way to wake up, to be honest, but if he trusts you, and you do this often, then I’m sure you mean no harm.”
She smiled, “I really don’t. I just liked giving them company at first, and then Tommy and I got closer, so…” the blush returned, and she leaned back into what you assumed were Tommy’s arms, now that you noticed his necklace behind her.
“Alright. Cool. As long as you don’t break shit, I don’t mind.”
Molly nodded quickly, “of course! I usually can’t stay long anyways. I just like stopping by on my way to work or when I have a day off from classes.”
“Alright,” you nodded, walking to the kitchen, “well, if you ever want, I can clean up the spare room for you to stay in if you need it. Do you want any coffee?”
“I’m good, thank you, though.” Molly smiled, moving to sit back on the couch. Wilbur was still behind you as you started brewing coffee, and you could faintly feel his hand on your back.
You grabbed a notepad, holding out a pen for Wilbur and whispering to him, “So, they’re dating?”
‘Yep. She’s really nice.’
You nodded, humming softly, “She seems so. Do you like her?”
‘Yeah. She’s good for Tommy. He would get pretty lonely when it was just me here and everyone else would leave due to us being here. Plus, it’s funny to watch him get flustered whenever she comes around.’
You chuckled, nodding. “Alright. I’m glad he has someone then. Are there others? Do you have anyone?”
‘There were others. We don’t know what happened to most of them since they all pretty much just stopped coming around. But if you’re asking if I’m single, darling, I’m very much available ;)’
You flushed, turning to grab your coffee, “I- I just meant if I should expect any other visitors or anything.” You took a sip as he replied.
‘Nope. Just her. And don’t get shy on me now, love. You’re too cute to hide your face from me.’
You choked on your coffee, face turning a beet red as you coughed.
Molly ran in, looking at you with concern, “Are you alright?”
You nodded, giving her a meek thumbs up as you calmed down, “‘m fine.” You coughed a bit more, slowly taking in a breath.
Molly looked down at the notepad, grinning after a moment, “Ohh, I see. You’ve caught Wilbur’s attention, then?”
“Guess so,” you rubbed the back of your neck, a blush still resting on your cheeks.
“No wonder he seemed so happy when he talked about you.” She giggled, turning.
“Wait- talked about me? You can hear them?”
She turned back, looking a bit confused, “Uh, yeah. I’m actually shocked they haven’t spoken to you yet. Though, it took them a long while before they started talking back to me too, so I guess it makes sense.”
“So, they can speak then?”
She snorted, “Yeah. Of course they can. Do you- you don’t know much about ghosts, do you?” You shook your head slowly, “I didn’t even know if they were real before this.”
“Oh,” she hummed, “Well, as I’m sure you know now, they are very real. Tom and Wilbur and most ghosts are really cool. They’re just kind of doing their own thing. Some can be less than friendly, but don’t worry about them too much.”
You nodded as you listened, “How do you know so much about this?”
She shrugged, “I’ve been talking with ghosts since I was a kid.”
“Huh. Alright, well, you clearly know more about it than I do. Anything you can tell me, I’d be glad to hear.”
She thought for a moment, “Tommy’s favorite color is red. And Wilbur’s is teal,” she perked up, “Oh! And Tommy’s birthday is April 9th, and Wilbur’s is September 14th,” she smiled.  “It’s probably best if they tell you more about themselves, though.”
You nodded, “Right, well, thank you, though.”
She grinned, “Of course. Have fun with Wilbur,” she giggled, and it made your cheeks flush once again as she walked back out to the living room.
You took a deep breath, leaning against the counter. Wilbur was still by you, and you watched as the pen lifted once more.
‘Didn’t mean to make you choke. Sorry for taking your breath away ;)’
You snorted softly, “Oh, you very well meant it. But I don’t mind.”
‘Oh? Good to know then. I am glad you’re okay, though. Don’t need three ghosts in one place.’
For some reason, him wanting you to be okay made you flush more than any of his actual flirting.
A few weeks had gone by, and now, you had fallen into a comfortable routine. Wilbur was always ready to flirt, it seemed, whether it be through morse code, notes left around your house, or by using your phone to play romantic songs. It was really nice. Your week always followed a similar pace, you’d go to work on the weekdays, spend time with the boys when you got home, and Molly would come over on Saturday mornings and most of Sunday to hang out with you and Wilbur, but mostly Tommy. You learned more about her, learning that she was going to a University nearby, and that she’d moved to this town a few years back, where she quickly started visiting the boys after learning about the rumors of them in town. You learned more about Wilbur and Tommy too. Wilbur liked indie music and cats. Tommy liked songs that reminded him of being alive and video games, watching them and playing them if he could. You really enjoyed your routine, and you had grown to genuinely care about them.
The first time you hear Wilbur’s voice was an accident. It was late, about three A.M., and you couldn’t sleep. It was a weekend, thankfully, but you couldn’t stand just sitting there in the dark anymore. You got up, walking around the living room when you heard soft music playing. Curiously, you walked up towards the attic where the sound was coming from. You could make out the sounds of a guitar, and from outside the door, you could hear singing. And my god, it was beautiful. He had a soft voice, melodic but not too deep. After listening for a moment, you opened the door, searching for the sound.
While you didn’t see him, you saw the guitar perched up, so you knew it was Wilbur. You walked in slowly, as if treading on eggshells.
“Your voice is really lovely,” you spoke softly, standing in front of the chair Wilbur was on.
It was silent before you heard his actual speaking voice.
“Darling, what are you doing up? It’s late.”
You took a deep breath upon hearing his voice properly for the first time. “Couldn’t sleep, and I heard music, so I got curious, I guess,” You sat down in front of him, “You’re speaking. I’m sorry if I wasn’t meant to hear you, I just…” you couldn’t really think up more of an explanation, shrugging.
“it’s alright. I was mostly just trying to spare you from hearing Tommy talk your ear off,” he chuckled, and if his singing wasn’t melodic enough, his laugh alone definitely was.
You chuckled, smiling softly, “Well, I’ll make sure to be prepared for that in the morning.”
He chuckled once more, “Good. He’ll be wanting to say a lot now that he can.” He hummed softly, “do you want me to play for you? Since you can’t sleep?”
“That would be really nice,” you smiled, rubbing at your eyes a bit.
“Alright. Let’s go to your room then? It’s probably far more comfortable than sitting up here.”
“Are you sure? I mean, I don’t want to disturb you too much or anything.”
He nodded, “I only came up here so I wouldn’t wake you. Come on,” you watched as the necklace and guitar lifted, signifying that he’d stood up. You and him walked back to your room quietly, and you laid back down once you got there. You felt the bed dip next you, and you saw the guitar shift into a playing position. He started playing, and you heard him start singing once again. His gentle sounds quickly lulled you into sleep.
And if you woke up feeling a bit colder than usual, and more specifically a cold spot where an arm would have wrapped around your waist, neither of you mentioned it.
Tommy did talk your ear off that morning, excited to finally be able to talk to you, making comments about how “he’d wanted to talk to you weeks ago” and that “he’d only kept quiet because Wilbur said he had to.” Communication was a lot easier now that they felt comfortable speaking to you. There was a consequence to hearing them now, though. Wilbur’s flirting only got more bold. When you’d get ready for work, he’d always meet you outside your room with a smart comment about how “lucky those coworkers of yours are if they get to see you looking like that all day”. It was interesting, though, the little things you’d noticed about him. He was always more flirty during the daytime, but once it was night, he was more soft. You’d grown used to the chilled feeling that comes from his arms wrapping around you as he whispered about how glad he was that you’d stayed.
He didn’t really sleep. Neither of them needed it, but you found that Tommy liked to, so you always kept the bed in the spare room neat for him. While Wilbur didn’t like to sleep, he was protective of you. It was a bit odd at first that he wanted to be with you when you’d slept, but you found a great deal of comfort in feeling the chill from him pressed against you while you slept. Especially on some nights like tonight.
It wasn’t often you got nightmares anymore. They grew less frequent when Wilbur would hold you in your sleep, but he didn’t always do that every night. You didn’t know what he did when he wasn’t here with you, but you weren’t going to ask. He deserved his privacy, after all. Despite it, you did always miss the feeling of his arms around you. He wasn’t with you when you’d gone to bed.
You woke up screaming. Within seconds, you were pressed against your headboard, head pressed in your hands while you sobbed and gasped for breath, thumb placed on your pulse point. Tommy actually arrived first, your door flinging open and his necklace swinging wildly.
Before he had time to react, Wilbur was rushing in quickly behind him, going straight for you. You felt his arms wrap around you tightly, and the cold did a great deal to shock you out of the panic, leaving you just sobbing. You wrapped your arms around him, though it took you a second to process how he was positioned.
“Hey, it’s okay,” he whispered softly, “you’re right here, you’re with us, it’s okay.”
You leaned into his reassurance. Eventually, you felt more movement on the bed, and Tommy’s hand rested on your back gently as both boys helped you calm down. Your hands gripped onto the feeling of soft fabric that you couldn’t see.
Wilbur continued to whisper reassurances and reminders that you were okay and that he wouldn’t let anything hurt you. When you stopped crying, Wilbur slowly helped you lay back down, never letting go of you for a second. He didn’t want you to think you were alone, even for a second.
You were exhausted when he laid you down, still wrapped in his arms. Your eyes opened, and for a moment, you could’ve sworn you saw the slightest bit of a faded blue sweater through bleary, tear-stained eyes. You didn’t think about it too long, and instead you went to bed in Wilbur’s arms with Tommy next to you, falling asleep quickly from the exhaustion.
(When you woke up, you basically had to wrestle to get out of bed between Wilbur holding you close and Tommy’s limbs strewn out over the two of you. But with a bit of wrangling, you chose to stay in bed and wouldn’t have changed it for the world.)
While your routine was good, there were still some rougher days. Work could go so well before things went wrong. Like today, when you’d fucked up an assignment and proceeded to get yelled at by your boss for about thirty minutes before hiding to cry in the bathroom. You calmed yourself down enough to at least look like you hadn’t cried, using some cold water to calm the redness down your face. You walked home slowly, opening the door, and you were quickly met with Wilbur’s voice chiming out from the living room.
“Welcome home, darling! How was work?”
You dropped your bag at the door, shrugging, “Eh. It was honestly quite shit. For now, I just want to relax a bit.”
He chuckled, “Well, I’ve got some ideas to help you relax.”
Instead of getting flustered, or having any major reaction, you just smiled flatly, sighing a bit. You could feel his concern, sighing again, “I’ll be fine, Wilbur. Just a bad day.”
You walked to your room, grabbing a notebook and a pencil case in the hopes that some drawing would calm you down. You walked back out to the living room, sitting on the couch next to Tommy, who was playing with your Rubix cube again. Wilbur walked over and stood in front of you, and you could feel his eyes on you as you set down your pencil case.
One of the more endearing habits that Tommy had was how he only liked his things near him. He always wanted his space to be the exact way he put things, and he would complain, loudly, if you moved things whatsoever. The most often way he complained? He would just smack things. Just completely push them out of his space and across the room.
And he did that now. You watched as you went to grab a pencil, and before you could, he smacked the pencil case across the room so hard it slammed against the wall before hitting the floor.
“Tommy!” Wilbur chastised, but before he could actually get on his case, you burst out laughing.
Full, genuine laughing, your eyes closing . Your life was so bizarre already, what with the whole living with ghosts thing. And after an absolutely shitty day, one of them just smacked your entire pencil case against the wall just because it was slightly too close to him. It was bizarre and weird and absurd, but it was your life.
You laughed until your ribs were tired. When your eyes opened again, still crinkled at the sides, you were met with a sight, to say the least.
You saw Wilbur. You saw him. He was looking back at you, face flushed and staring at you in awe. Holy shit.
“...Wilbur?”
He looked startled by the fact you made eye contact with him, and he struggled to find words. But god, he was gorgeous. Thick curly brown hair with beautiful brown eyes to match. He was tall, too, and he wore a faded blue sweater and plain black pants.
He didn’t have a chance to respond before Tommy did, and you watched as, within seconds, he went from being completely invisible to… Tommy. He had blond hair and blue eyes, and he was wearing a white t-shirt with red sleeves, and a pair of cargo shorts.
“Thank god, we don’t have to be invisible anymore. I was getting so tired of it, but of course Wilbur said we had to, didn’t want to risk scaring you off, as if you would be!” He barked out a laugh, and you chuckled as well, blinking a bit.
“I’m sorry, what? You- I can see you? And you can control that sort of stuff?”
Tommy snorted, “Of course you can see us. That’s kinda how ghosts work, innit?”
You gave them a closer look, noting that, although you could see them, they were still slightly translucent. “How the hell should I know how ghosts work? I’m not the ghost here!”
You laughed, and Wilbur seemed to finally gain some sense of vocal ability, “We can control it, but our natural state is like this. Well, kind of. There’s a more… accurate form, but we don’t really show that to anyone. We’ve found that it usually scares people out, so we tend to wait.”
You nodded, “What is the more accurate form?”
Wilbur leaned forward, ruffling your hair, “Don’t worry about it.”
You pouted a bit but nodded regardless, “Okay. Well, as weird as it is, it’s also… really cool. I didn’t think I’d ever be able to see you guys.” You took Wilbur’s hand, inspecting it carefully. Other than the slight translucent nature of them, they just looked normal. A bit paler than they probably would have been alive, but still just completely normal.
You let go of his hand, looking up at him, “Sorry, it’s just interesting.” Wilbur chuckled, and it was so different to actually see him laugh rather than just hearing it, “It’s okay. You don’t have to apologize, darling.”
You flushed lightly, and Wilbur took immediate notice, leaning in close to your face.
“Are you going shy on me, darling?” His hand gently cupped your chin, “Do you just find me that attractive?” Your cheeks flamed up, and as you stuttered out a response, Tommy groaned, smacking Wilbur’s shoulder.
“Take your flirting shit out of here, dickhead.”
Wilbur scoffed, sitting next to you instead, “Hey, I put up with your shit attempts at flirting with Molly for months, I’m allowed to have my fun.”
“I am not shit at flirting! And even if I was, you’re the one who taught me, so that would mean you’re also shit!” Tommy exclaimed, putting the Rubix cube down.
“You never listened to my instructions!”
“Because they were stupid”
You rolled your eyes as they continued to bicker, standing and walking towards your room. You waved a hand nonchalantly, “I’m going to take a bath. You guys just keep… doing whatever is it you do.” “Want my help in there, darling?” You flushed, flipping him off behind your back, “Unless you’re bringing me wine and leaving right after, I do not need your help.”
You walked into the bathroom and got a warm bubble bath ready quickly, getting into the water and relaxing as the heat soothed your sore muscles. You played music from your phone softly, closing your eyes and letting the water alleviate your troubles from the day.
After a few minutes, there was a knock on the door. You fixed the curtain to maintain your modesty, before humming out a soft, “Come in.”
Wilbur opened the door with a smug grin, a glass of wine in his hand.
You laughed, “Jesus, I didn’t even think we had wine in the house.” “We do, it was just too high for you to reach.” He chuckled, walking over to hand you the glass.
“Oh? And who put it up there then?” You took the glass, taking a sip.
“Hm, I wonder.” He chuckled, crouching down to be eye-level with you, “You feeling any better?”
You nodded softly, smiling, “Yeah. Just had a rough day, I guess.”
He sat down, nodding, “I figured. It took you longer to get home than usual, and you just seemed a bit down. I’m glad Tommy was able to make you laugh, even if the whole reveal thing wasn’t planned.”
You hummed, “It definitely was a shock. I do like being able to see you, even if I’m still just processing it. It’s easier to tell where you are.”
“Oh, I bet,” he laughed, “But sneaking up on you is half the fun.”
“For you,” you rolled your eyes, “I quite like being able to see my housemates. I’m almost offended, actually, that you hid such a pretty face from me for so long.”
It was an incredibly satisfying feeling to actually watch him get flustered, his cheeks turning pink while he looked away.
He composed himself, clearing his throat, “Didn’t want to scare such a pretty person away is all. Especially such a kind one.”
You flushed, taking another sip of wine. “Well, I can definitely say I’m not scared.”
He smiled (a beautiful sight to see), reaching a hand up to gently play with your hair, “Good. For a moment there I thought you’d just bolt when you saw me.”
“Honestly,” you chuckled, leaning into his touch, “You guys having a form I can see is the least weird thing I’ve dealt with since I’ve moved in.”
He laughed, “Yeah, I guess that’s true. We’ve just… grown to be a bit wary of showing ourselves to people. Molly was the most recent one, actually, and that was because she snuck in without us noticing. The first time someone moved in, we didn’t think to hide ourselves, and that’s what led to all the rumors and everything.”
You nodded, “Shitty exploitative people or people running for the hills?”
“We’ve had both,” he sighed.
“How do you guys know about all the rumors and stuff though? Did Molly tell you?”
He shook his head, “We can’t leave the house most days, but there are a few exceptions. We can leave on Halloween, and the anniversary of our deaths. Or if we possess someone.”
“Wha- okay, you can not just say that like it’s a casual thing. You can possess people?”
He chuckled, looking coy, “Yeah. We don’t do it often, only if we really need to or if we’re given permission.”
You nodded, “That’s respectful, I guess. When would you need to?”
He shrugged, “We’ve done it to protect people. There was a kid living in here with the last family, and he nearly drowned, so I had to possess his father to save him. The only problem is that, usually when we do it, people move out right after. But if we can stop another person from dying here, we’ll jump at the opportunity.”
“That makes sense,” you hummed softly, “Must feel weird to get possessed.”
He hummed, “I’ve heard it is. Tommy’s possessed Molly before so they could go on like pseudo-dates. She said you’re still aware of everything, you just can’t move your body yourself. She and Tommy were able to talk in her head, though so it’s not as scary as you’d think, as long as you know it’s happening. There are some side effects for a short while afterwards though.”
“Like?”
“She said that she felt freezing cold for a while after. She had a few bruises as well, but that could’ve easily just been from Tommy remembering how to manuver an actual body. That’s another thing, if you do it for too long, you kind of forget how to move your own body, so she had to sit to keep herself from falling.”
You nodded, humming, “that’s not too bad.”
“Well, yeah. That’s with permission, though. Most of the people we’ve possessed without permission haven’t exactly stuck around long enough for us to ask how they feel afterwards.”
You leaned your head on the edge of the tub, going silent as you thought. “We could do that one day, if you want.”
“What?” He stopped his hand, eyebrows pinching together.
“Yeah, like Molly and Tommy do. That way you can go outside a bit more and do stuff that you can’t do anymore.”
He grinned softly, “Is this your way of asking me on a date?”
You groaned, and he immediately laughed at your reaction. “I’m trying to be nice, dumbass.”
“I know, I know. But man it is so much more fun to flirt with you when you can actually see me. You get flustered so much easier.” “Maybe I’m not used to seeing cute boys flirt with me.”
He frowned slightly, and it quickly dissolved into a grin, “Well, you’ll get used to it soon enough because I definitely don’t plan on stopping. Unless it makes you uncomfortable.”
You smiled gently, “It doesn’t. I would’ve asked you to stop a long time ago if it actually made me uncomfortable.”
“Good. Because I am going to be so much worse about it now that I can flirt physically with you.”
“Oh, god.”
“I’ll make it good for you. Don’t stress.”
You chuckled, taking another sip, “I’m not stressed, more concerned about how I’ll ever be able to deal with a cute guy flirting with me all the time.”
“Well, I’ll take good care of you, obviously.”
You smiled, biting your lip softly, “Thanks, Wilbur.”
He smiled, running his hand through your hair once more. “Of course, darling. What do you want for dinner? I can start making it while you finish up here.”
You sighed softly, “I have no clue honestly.”
“So surprise you?”
You grinned softly, “Yeah. Just please don’t burn down the house. I like living here with you guys.”
“Alright, so don’t let Tommy into the kitchen, got it.”
You laughed, and he gave you that look again, the same one he was giving you when you saw his face for the first time.
“I guess so.” You hummed softly.
“Alright, well, I’ll go get started,” He stood, and he leaned over, pressing a kiss to your forehead gently before walking out.
It took your brain a moment to catch up before you felt yourself blushing deeply once more. It was a new but definitely welcome sensation, the feeling of his lips on your forehead left a gentle chill. You bit down a smile, but even if you really tried, you wouldn’t have been able to hide the gentle grin. You took a final sip of your wine, setting the glass down and letting yourself sink into the water.
You got out of the bath and got dressed, taking your glass and walking out into the living room. You weren’t quite used to just being able to see them, almost feeling startled as you saw Tommy sitting on the couch playing on your old DS, and seeing Wilbur standing in the kitchen.
You shook it off, walking to the kitchen and looking for the wine.
Wilbur looked over at you, smiling softly, “Feeling better?”
“Yeah,” you nodded, “How’s dinner coming along?”
“Good,” he smiled, walking over and wrapping his lanky arms around you while you poured yourself some more wine. You leaned into his grasp, smiling softly.
“Yeah? House hasn’t burnt down, so that says something at least.”
He chuckled, wrapping you up tighter in his arms, “I still remember mostly what I’m doing. I used to cook for Tommy when our parents were working.”
“You haven’t spoken much about your parents.” You noted quietly.
He sighed, leaning his head on you, “No. I haven’t. I try not to think about them too much.”
You nodded softly and didn’t ask further. Instead, you relaxed in his arms and drank your wine. He swayed a bit, and you chuckled, closing your eyes.
“It’s still weird being able to see you.”
“Yeah? Like what you see.”
You chuckled, flushing, “Maybe. Is there a problem if I do?”
“The opposite, actually, darling. I think it’s absolutely lovely. But not as lovely as you.”
“Wilbur?”
“Yes, my darling?”
“Something is very much burning on the stove.”
He quickly pulled away, rushing to the pot on the stove and taking it off the heat.
“Oops,” he grinned at you sheepishly, “Sorry, love. You’re just so distracting.”
You flushed and rolled your eyes, “Maybe I shouldn’t have trusted you in the kitchen either.”
He scoffed, “I’ll have you know I’m a great cook. This was simply a method of cooking, I’m enfusing the food with smoky flavor.”
You laughed, rolling your eyes a bit, “You’re such a dork.”
When you looked back at him, he was giving you the biggest grin. He turned, grinning down at the counter as he worked on plating the food for you. He handed you the plate, gently kissing your head.
“I kept the burnt parts out of it.”
You blushed, smiling, “Thank you, Wilbur.”
“Of course, darling.”
You started eating, and he watched you as you did, waiting for your reaction.
“Holy shit, Wilbur, this is fantastic.”
He threw his arms up, cheering, “Yes! Oh, I’m so glad you like it. It’s been a long time since I cooked.”
“It’s amazing, seriously, thank you.”
He smiled, wrapping his arms around you again, “It’s actually our mom’s recipe. She was the best cook, taught me everything I know.”
“Well, she taught you well.” You ate more, and Wilbur was absolutely beaming behind you.
The rest of the night was quite calm, just sitting with Tommy and Wilbur, watching videos and stuff. You got tired quite quickly, so the three of you retired to bed, Wilbur following you. You both got comfortable quickly, your head resting on his chest. His hand gently trailed up and down your back, and the sensation used to make you shiver, but now it just felt comforting. In the silence, you began thinking.
“Wilbur?” You spoke softly.
“Hm?”
“You’re very touchy,” you stated plainly.
He chuckled, “That’s true.”
“Why?”
He was quiet for a moment before speaking up, “I like the feeling. Reminds me of being alive, I guess.”
“How so?” You asked quietly.
“Well,” he took one hand, gently placing it on your cheek, “it warms me slightly, same way it cools you. So it becomes grounding, after a while. Especially when I start to comprehend the reality of the fact that I am a ghost, I can’t leave, and I don’t know if I’ll be like this forever or if one day I’ll just suddenly stop existing. It’s scary sometimes to think about the fact that, at one point, I was living, and I got killed, and now I am undead, and I don’t know why. I don’t know if one day, just by saying something, I’ll fade. You weren’t wrong when you said ghosts are probably scared of their own situation because we are. There’s no rulebook to being a ghost, and I remember, the first few years, I was just so aware of my own… mortality, if you can even call it that. And it was terrifying. Tommy and I mostly stayed in the attic at all times because we didn’t know if we’d fully move on just by walking out the door. So, when I touch you, it helps pull me out of that fear. Because I remember that being alive was just as terrifying because there is no rulebook to living either. And it’s grounding. If I could do it once before, I can do it again. You remind me of being alive. Because you’re the first person to look at me, even when you couldn’t see me, and have empathy before anything else. So touching you and being around you, it makes me feel something other than the usual dread and sadness, and I will cling to that as much as I can while I still have time with you.”
You leaned into his touch, shifting a bit to wrap an arm around him. You didn’t really have a response. It was the most vulnerable he’d ever been.
You cuddled your head further into his chest, nodding softly, “If you ever need it, you know, i’m here for you. I don’t know much about ghosts or living, and I’d never given the things much thought before moving in here. But anything that can help you, I’m willing to help you with. Even if it means having you attached at my hip all day. You know better than anyone just how fragile life is. I could die tomorrow. So, we need to make the most out of what we have, I guess.”
He smiled, kissing the top of your head gently, “That’s all we can do. It’s what made life worth living, and it’s what makes being stuck like this worth it too. Just appreciating every moment, even if all we have is your living and my ghostly-ness.” He chuckled softly, and you did too.
You gently moved his hand from your cheek, solely so you could hold it. “Goodnight, Wilbur.”
“Goodnight, my love.”
You and Wilbur got closer seamlessly. You don’t know what made it so easy to talk with him or just be around him. Overtime, his flirting got bolder, but so did yours. You’d be lying to yourself if you were to say that you weren’t attracted to him. You absolutely were. You were just conflicted.
You didn’t know how human-ghost relationships worked. You knew they happened, obviously, Molly and Tommy were clear proof of it. But you didn’t really know how they worked. One person was dead, firstly, but there was also the concept that their spirit had a high chance of outliving you. You would grow older, but Wilbur would always be twenty-six. Unless you died, of course, but that would be a pretty major commitment to make, and it honestly made your head hurt to think about. Plus, that’s if Wilbur even would be okay with that which, based on the way he spoke about being dead, he wouldn’t be. The morals and mortality honestly gave you a headache. So you talked to the only other person who would possibly understand.
When Molly walked in that morning, you were quick to stop her from walking up to where Tommy would be.
“Molly! Can I talk to you for a moment?” “Uh, yeah, sure.”
You carefully pulled her into the backyard, sitting down on the concrete porch.
“I… have a few questions.” You spoke softly in case of any peeping ears.
“Oh?” She sat down next to you, “What about?”
You sighed, “You and Tommy’s relationship. How does it work?”
She chuckled, “What do you mean?”
“I just… I’ve been thinking a lot about like how a ghost-human relationship could work, and I just feel overwhelmed. I like Wilbur,” you admitted softly, blush rising to your cheeks, “But I keep thinking about how a relationship between me and him would work since it’s… unconventional.”
“Well, I’ve found your problem already,” she gave you a kind smile, “You think too much. With Tommy, we don’t think about it. We’re both aware of how weird it is, and how it probably won’t last forever, but we don’t mind. I mean, he and I have been dating for months, and I’ve never been able to tell anyone for obvious reasons. We just honestly don’t think about it. And maybe that’s not healthy, but it’s what’s right and what works for us right now. So that’s all that matters.”
You nodded, resting your head on your knee, “It doesn’t bother you? That you don’t know?”
“Honestly? No,” she shrugged, “It’s something about living in the moment, you know. Sometimes I think about it, but I know that there’s really nothing Tom and I can do anything about it. So, I just don’t think about it since I can’t find a solution.”
You nodded again, “Thanks, Molly.” She patted your shoulder, “Listen, if you want my advice, I say do it. Wilbur is absolutely head over heels for you. And even if he is blind to it, I can tell you are the same way about him. So, don’t think about it much, just do it. If it makes you both happy, then it’s worth it.”
You flushed, nodding, “I just have to figure out how. Thank you, Molly.”
“I have work off today, so I was probably going to let Tommy possess me so we can go for a walk, if you want some privacy,” she winked, standing and heading inside.
You sat there with nothing but the deep blush on your cheeks and the things she had told you.
You were thankful for the later privacy, though, solely because you didn’t want Tommy there when you confessed. It was nerve-wracking enough without Tommy there to potentially make fun of you.
After dinner, you and WIlbur were sitting on the couch like normal, but you couldn’t focus, too in your head about how to word everything perfectly and oh god, what if he says no.
“Darling, are you okay?” Wilbur asked, pulling you out of your thoughts.
You nodded, biting your lip. You turned, facing him now, and gently taking his hand, “I want to… talk about something.”
“Oh?” he turned, holding your hand tightly, “What’s up?”
Fuck, you really should’ve practiced this before hand. “It’s just…” here goes nothing, “I like you, Wilbur. I’ve known for a bit now, I just didn’t really know what to say or if it would be good to even bring it up until I talked to Molly today, but, yeah. I like you. And, if you’ll take me, I’d- I’d like to be your partner.”
For the first time in your little speech, you looked up to him. And he, god, he looked ecstatic. He had a soft smile on his face, but you could see in his eyes just how overjoyed he was.
“Darling, nothing would make me happier. I’d be a fool to not take you,” he squeezed your hand gently, “Can I kiss you?”
You nodded, and he brought a hand up, slowly guiding your lips together. The kiss was enchanting, and the sensation – a mix of cool and tingling – it reminded you of peppermint chapstick. You held onto his shoulder gently, kissing him back and putting just as much love into it as it gave you.
You both pulled away quickly, solely due to the sound of the door opening. Both of your heads whipped towards the sound, watching as Molly-Tommy walked in, and after a moment, you watched Tommy’s spirit separate, and he carefully held onto Molly, so she wouldn’t fall. Once he looked over, both of you red-faced and looking like you were clearly caught, he raised his free arm up, cheering, “Holy shit! Wilbur finally got bitches!”
Your relationship with Wilbur was surprisingly easy. Not much actually changed between the two of you, aside from kissing and making out more. He slept in your bed more often, though he still had those nights when he would disappear to the attic. He also tended to be more generally affectionate rather than flirty, now that he knew it was okay to kiss you when he felt like it.
There was something not-house related that popped up recently though. You didn’t notice it for the first few days, but by the fourth day it was glaringly obvious. Every day that you would leave your house for work, you noticed a man, around mid-fourties, sitting on a bench across the street. He would follow your path to work, but he would never interact. It made you feel uneasy, though. You told a few of your coworkers, and they all agreed that it was weird, but you refrained from telling Wilbur and Tommy. You didn’t want any problems, you just mostly wanted to figure out why this guy kept watching you.
Thankfully, it didn’t take too long to find out. On the second week of this occurring, he actually came up to you, holding a single flower out towards you.
When he spoke, it sounded as though he hadn’t spoken properly in about two years, and it sent a shiver down your spine, but none of his words were mean or harmful.
“Hello. I’m sorry to bother you,” he handed you the flower, a red chrysanthemum, before continuing, “it’s just, well, I used to be friends with the boys who lived in that house. Not a lot of people move in there, so when I heard you did, I got a bit curious.”
You accepted the flower, somewhat shocked by the plainness of his statement, “Oh. I understand the curiosity, the house has quite a reputation. It’s a lovely place, though.”
He nodded, “I loved being in there. I’ve heard the reputation it has as well, but I wanted to ask, as the current owner, do you believe in any of it? I’m not quite sure I believe in these ghost stories.”
You chuckled softly. You had gotten used to lying about your ghostly boyfriend and roommates, “No, I don’t believe in any of it. However, if it keeps my payments low, I don’t mind.”
That brought a laugh out of him, and it eased your nerves a bit. “I get that. Sorry if I weirded you out at all, It’s just- not exactly easy to come up to people and ask if they believe in ghosts.”
“People do it all the time now, actually,” you hummed. It wasn’t uncommon, these days, for anyone who knew you lived there to ask those types of questions. “But you said you were friends with the boys?”
He nodded, “Yes. We were good friends for a long time. It was tragic what happened to them, but I am glad to hear that you haven’t had any problems. I always worried that their souls may not have been able to move on.”
You gave a soft smile, “Yeah, I worried the same when I moved in. I imagine it’d be quite scary to exist like that. But, no issues, really.”
“That’s good, then. The boys were so kind, too. William and Thomas, their names were.”
“Oh, really?” You asked, as if you didn’t know.
For the next week, every day, that man would walk with you to work, telling stories about the boys, and every day, he would bring you a red chrysanthemum. It was nice to hear about the boys when they were alive, even if it was a bit chilling to think about how they lived before knowing what would become of them.
One day, the man brought a whole bouquet of the red chrysanthemums, and you accepted them with a soft smile. As he told stories, he spoke in a bit of a far-away tone.
“I’ve always wanted to go back in, actually. To see where we all used to goof off. I think it would be a nice way to get closure, after all that’s happened. The guy who killed them, he was smart, really smart, but he never got caught, so their story never got closure. I never got closure. I’m not sure, I’ve just always thought that, just walking around and seeing their rooms, it would help.”
That brought a thought to your brain. This guy used to be their friend, and Wilbur said that they always wondered what happened to all the people who they never saw anymore. It would be a really nice surprise for them!
“Well, if you’d like, once I get off of work, I can let you in, let you walk around a bit?”
He grinned, “Really? Oh, that would be lovely. You get home around six usually, yes?”
You nodded softly, “Yeah.”
“Perfect! Oh, thank you so much, it would truly be the best thing to be able to see in there again. You don’t know how much you’ve truly done for me.”
When you got home, he was waiting at your front porch. You smiled softly at him, waving as you went to unlock the door. You opened the door slowly, to give the boys time to go invisible when they realized there was someone in the house.
“You can just take a seat on the couch, alright? I’m going to put my stuff away and then I’ll walk the place with you.”
He nodded, taking a seat and looking around. You walked to your room to put your bag away, but the moment you closed the door, you were met with the two ghosts, startling you backwards.
“Jesus, you guys scared me,” you whispered.
“What the fuck is going on right now?” Tommy whispered harshly.
Wilbur just looked angry, the silent type of angry that honestly put fear in you as well.
“What are you talking about? Him?”
“Of fucking course, we’re talking about him! Why is he here?” It was weird to hear Tommy sounding so quiet and panicked.
“He said he used to be your friend. I wanted to surprise you guys,” you smiled a bit, not yet understanding why they both looked so upset and fearful and angry.
“That dickhead was not our friend.” “What? Tommy, what are you on about?”
“Love, that’s the man who murdered us.” Wilbur spoke for the first time, anger clear in his voice.
You felt a chill go down your spine, straightening, “What?”
“The bastard pretended to be our friend, talking to us, bringing us shit like gifts and flowers,” you felt your entire body go cold as Tommy continued, “All so he could fucking murder us.”
“He’s been giving me flowers every day.” You noted simply, and the two of them both lost all the fear in their expressions, now just looking purely angry and protective. They shared a look before looking back at you. Wilbur placed a hand on your shoulder, gently despite the ferocity in his expression.
“Go back out there before he gets suspicious, but if he wants to go to the attic, do not walk in first, let him go first. You hear me?”
You nodded quickly, and Wilbur pulled you forward, kissing you passionately, “I won’t let him fucking touch you,” he growled out softly.
You kissed him back, slowly pulling out from Wilbur’s grasp and heading back out into the living room, a bit more stiff than before.
“You ready to look around?” You asked, trying to sound as normal as possible. He nodded, standing up. You and him walked upstairs to the boys’s rooms, and the entire time you could feel Wilbur and Tommy’s presence behind you.
You went to both of the boy’s old rooms, and he seemed completely normal, talking about all the times he’d seen the boys in here. After Wilbur’s room, he spoke up properly.
“Can we see the attic? The boys and I used to hang out there at night.”
You gulped softly and nodded, “Do you remember where it is?”
He smiled and nodded, “of course! I remember sneaking up there with them all the time.”
“Alright, lead the way then.” You gestured for him to lead the way, but he shook his head.
“Oh, no, I couldn’t, it’s your house after all.”
“No, really, I insist.”
He tilted his head, smiling, and this time it brought you waves of unease, “Is there something wrong?”
Fuck. There were two ways this could go. You could say yes, and he could just kill you right here. Or you could say no and deal with Wilbur’s anger later.
You’d rather deal with Wilbur’s anger later.
“...No. Nothing’s wrong, um, follow me, I guess.” You started walking upstairs to the attic, and you practically hear Wilbur’s curses in your ear.
You opened the door and walked in, and the man walked in behind you. Before either of you had a chance to react, the door slammed shut and locked, and you were pulled into the chair on the otherside of the room.
You watched Wilbur reappear, standing over you protectively. Tommy reappeared after, standing by the door. The man looked around wildly at the two of the them, stuttering.
“You- you said they weren’t real!” He looked at you angrily, and he started advancing towards you.
Wilbur grabbed your hands, placing them on top of your eyes. “Do not open your eyes.” He ordered, and all you could do was hear for a few minutes as the sound of strange whispers filled the room. There was light coming from the center of the room that you could vaguely make out from behind your hands, and soon, there was the sound of the man screaming. The room felt heavy, as if every negative emotion you’d ever known was flowing into your body all at once.
You knew you shouldn’t, but you couldn’t help your curiosity as you peered between two fingers.
Tommy and Wilbur stood over the man as he sank into what appeared to be a portal into the floor. That wasn’t what really caught your attention, though.
What caught your attention was Tommy and Wilbur’s appearances. This must’ve been the true form they mentioned, you realized. They looked nearly decrepit, Tommy’s stomach covered in blood, and his neck showing a long open wound. Wilbur wasn’t much better, a clear stab wound going straight through his chest. If you looked hard enough, you could see through it. His face had a long scratch going down the side, hitting through his eye. There was another stab wound on him, a clear chunk taken out of his arm. Both of their eyes were glowing, Wilbur’s a haunting cold blue, and Tommy’s a deep red.
You gasped softly and quickly covered your eyes in full again.  No wonder they didn’t want you to see it. It was entirely haunting to see.
A few minutes later, Wilbur walked over and pulled your hands off of your eyes. The light, the portal, and the man were all gone. You had started crying at some point after seeing them like that, and Wilbur quickly pulled you into his arms.
“It’s okay, he’s gone.” He whispered, kissing the top of your head and rubbing your back soothingly. You sobbed against him, gently moving a hand to the center of his chest to make sure the wound wasn’t there anymore even if you’d already seen him looking normal.
He seemed to realize what you were doing pretty quickly, but he never let go of you or seemed upset in the slightest, “You saw, didn’t you?”
You nodded, another wave of sobs wracking your body.
He sighed softly, just holding you closer, “I’m sorry, darling. I never wanted you to see that. I’m so so sorry,” he whispered.
You didn’t respond, just sobbing against him and clinging onto him desperately.
He helped you calm down, and after you got past the tears from processing their true forms, you had to come to terms with the stark reality that you would have absolutely been killed, the same way the boys had, if they weren’t there for you.
The house was mostly quiet the rest of the night, though Wilbur and Tommy were both clearly filled with a sense of relief.
You asked Wilbur about it later as you rested on his chest in bed. “Are you and Tommy happy he’s gone?”
He hummed, looking down at you, “He’s not gone, per se. Just in his own personal hell. It felt good, but, if you’re wondering why we’re both relieved, that’s not why.”
He got better at reading you as you two grew closer, and this was clear evidence of it, “Then why?”
“We didn’t know if that would be it for us,” he sighed softly, “There’s always been this idea that ghosts stick around due to unfinished business. We don’t know if that’s true or not, but we always assumed, if it was, it was because he was still here. So, there was a chance that when we got rid of him, we both would’ve just ceased to exist, or moved on to the afterlife, whatever. We’re relieved that didn’t happen. Neither of us could stand leaving you and Molly like that, with no clue what happened to us.”
You nodded softly, “But, wouldn’t it have been nice? To move on?”
“No,” he almost laughed, “Not without you.”
You held onto him tighter, nodding softly. “He would’ve killed me, if you two weren’t here.” You whispered.
He nodded, but he didn’t speak.
“If we let him, maybe I would’ve been here with you guys forever, like you are now.”
He looked at you, horrified, “Darling, don’t start with that. There’s absolutely no way we could’ve been certain of that, and I don’t want this for you. I want you to live a full life, and I don’t even want to know what would’ve happened if he killed you and your spirit didn’t stay. It would’ve been devastating for both of us, Tommy too. So, please, don’t start with that. I’m glad you are alive.”
You nodded softly, and his arms tightened around you, “I owe you both my life regardless.” He chuckled lightly, leaning down and kissing you gently, “Darling, the only thing you owe us is your happiness. All I want is for you to be happy. Nothing else matters to me anymore.”
You smiled, kissing him back lovingly.
“I love you, Wilbur.”
He smiled, eyes glowing the same blue, but lighter this time, as you exchanged your first ‘I love you’s. “I love you too, darling.”

Summary: You just wanted to take your boyfriend out to dinner.
It's about 5:15 pm when you enter Miles’s apartment. He had given you a key as soon as he moved out of his momma’s house a few months ago, going on about how if you needed a place to hide from the outside world, you’d always have a place to go. “Miles! ¿Mi amor,dónde estás?” (my love, where are you?) You call out wandering through his apartment. You knew he had to be somewhere because his 2015 Mercedes-Benz c300 was parked outside. “Miles, baby, are you home?” Calling again as you reach the hallway that leads to his bedroom, “He has to be in his room.”, You conclude as you hear the low bass of what was hoped was his music. Looking around as you walk, you see pictures of his family (mainly his uncle and his dad) and a couple of paintings you made him for past birthdays.
When you finally make it to his bedroom door, you fling it open. “Miles! ¿Así que aquí es donde te escondes?” ( so this is where you’ve been hiding) Miles flinched at the sudden noise, putting his gadget aside as he turned in his desk chair to face you. “Oh, Hey mami,” He says with his hand over his heart, trying to recover from your little jump scare. “¿Qué pasa?” (what’s up)
“Nothing’ really. Just thought I should stop by, 'cause I miss you ‘n shit.” You say as you slot yourself between his legs so you can look down into his rich cinnamon-colored eyes. “Well ain't you know how to make a man feel special?” He says as he places his hands around your waist. “Baby, I was just about to put this sucka down and go for a run.” He says, referencing his discarded gadget. “You can stay here unless you want to come with me. I'm always up for a running partner” He follows up with a smirk and wiggling eyebrows. “Nah, baby. You know how much cardio I ‘ate doin’ cardio.” You scrunch your nose in mock disgust as you motion for him to push back his seat, which he complies with. “What’s this gadget ‘bout ?” You ask as you place yourself on his lap. “Oh, this?” He wraps his arm around your waist as he spins the chair to grab his contraption. “I’ve been tweaking it for a while, but it’s supposed to be a power dampener. I’m not sure if it works, but it’s something I've been experimenting with.” He looks back and forth between you and his work. “¿Quieres echar un vistazo, princesa?” ( you wanna take a look, princess?) You smile brightly as you nod. “Yes please!!!” Miles gives you a soft half-smile in return as he hands it over. “It ain't perfect, but I think it needs a new processing chip and more stabilizers here, here, here, and right there.”
You follow his long nimble fingers as he points out specific areas on his machine. “Oh, and the circuiting! I haven't finished with that, but at the….” You didn’t catch the rest of his rant, too caught up in how his eyes seem to glow with excitement as he goes on and on about his work.
“And that’s how….Baby… Hey…” He snaps you out of your trance. “Am I nerding you out? I seemed to have lost ya?” You feel your face grow hot at the call-out. “No, baby! You was doing just fine. Just got a little lost at how you need to wire the-um.. the..thingy.” You say sheepishly. Robotics was never your thing. “Yes, the thingy.” He teased as he gently removed his work from your hands. “I'm glad you are at least a little interested in what I do, even when I nerd out…You know I love it when you take an interest in me.” He says, smiling down at you. “Well I think it's hot when you nerd out, and even if I didn’t- which will never happen- I’ll always be invested in you.” You say as you cup his cheek, which he leans into.
“When did I get so lucky…” He mumbles to himself in your hand. “You got lucky because I'm a sucker for men that want to heal themselves. Now, I wanna hear more about this… this power dampener!” You say in hopes to continue seeing his eyes light up. “Oh, um, sure.'' Miles smiles lightly. “So the goal of the device is to create a disturbance in the electrons of an object. The effects of it depend on the range between the power source and my machine.” As you listen, Miles's facial expressions light up, and he begins to move his hands animatedly. When he looks down into your eyes, he’s shocked by how genuinely interested you are. “Baby, has anyone told you how fuckin’ smart you are?” You hum as you nip at his cheek. “Oh..Um” Miles was taken aback by the intensity of your praise. “Awh- Well- Not- Not recently…No..” He says with a chuckle trying to deflect. “You might be biased, mami.” He kisses your cheek. “Thank you, but I promise I'm just your average tech guy.” You snort at his dismissive behavior. “Now why would I be biased?” You quirk a brow. “Are you callin’ me a liar? Cause you know I’d NEVER lie to you, Mi Amor. Lo llamo como lo veo.”(I’m calling it how I see it) You state with no room to argue. Your boy needs to know how special he is.
“Well… I mean” Miles gives a dramatic sign. “Well if MY GIRL says I’m smart, then who am I to argue?” He gives one of his cocky-ass smirks. “Ain't that the truth!” You puff out your chest with pride. It always makes you ecstatic when he calls you HIS GIRL. “Well now that MY MAN knows how smart he is, do you think he’ll be smart enough to let HIS GIRL bring him to dinner after his run? My treat since he always pays.” You say with a smirk of your own. Miles considers the idea for a moment. “Well, I might as well be a genius because who am I to say no? But no promises on you paying.” He responds as he reachs out to flick your forehead. “Nope.” You emphasize the ‘p’ with a pop, grabbing his hand before it makes contact. “I'm gonna pay for everything because you quite literally refuse to let me pay for shit.” You huff as he keeps trying to assault your forehead with finger flicks.
He lets out a chuckle-the that makes his chest rumble-as he finds it amusing how passionate you are about paying. “¿Qué tiene de divertido?(what’s so funny) I wanna know, too, asshole!” You whine feeling left out. “Es nada.(it’s nothing) I just find your determination endearing.” Your face grows increasingly hot. “Well… Good! ‘Cause this determination’s going to make sure your takin’ care of. You might as well call me your sugar mommy for the night.” You wink and blow him a kiss as you get off his lap to sit on his bed. “So tell mommy where you wanna go” You jest wagging your fingers. “ Ha-” He stifles a laugh. “Well then….Mommy, there’s that new steak place you’ve been wanting to try out. Although it's a 'lil expensive… So we can split the bill."
Miles tries to play it slick. “Eres gracioso.(you’re funny) If you want steak, then we’ll go have steak. But don’t think for a moment that I ain’t got it like that. You and I both know my ass makes enough to order half the menu and then do it again tomorrow.” It upsets Miles sometimes how hard you work. Splitting your time between getting your degree, working at your paid internship, and braiding hair on the weekends, you barely have time for yourself…or him. “I know, Mi Amor.” He says, moving to kiss your forehead. “Solo estaba jugando. (I was just playing) I know you got me.” He says, planting his kiss, causing you to pout. “Why the long face, baby girl?'' Miles teased as he pushed a stray braid behind your ear. “You just got to be difficult. Just let me take care of ya.” He smiles and rubs his hand against your brown skin. “You’re gon have to make me.” He jests with a shine in his warm brown eyes. “Is that a challenge, Mr. Moralas?” Your pout turned into a wicked grin. “I'm afraid so, baby girl.” His heart kicks into gear at the sight of your grin. “Well, then you best hurry up and get to ya runnin’ then? Wouldn’t want you to skip that delicious cardio, now would we?” You mock, trying to push the process of dinner. “There’s no way you just called cardio delicious.'' Miles finds himself laughing as he pulls away to find his running shoes. “I can’t help it! You just look so good when you finish a run, I can't be blamed for associating cardio with yummy.” You try to defend yourself. “Suuuure, mami. That’s why.” Sarcasm and an eye-roll quickly follow, causing you to flip him off. “Just hurry up so we can eat.” You jokingly hound as he makes his way back to you. “Yeah, yeah. Im goin’, im goin’! Just give ya man a kiss before he goes, ok? You're my Forever and always, Mi Amor.” This was how you two always departed. It was a way for Miles to express how much he valued you since he learned the hard way that time is precious, and last words hold meaning. “My Forever n’ always, Mi Amor.” You repeat as your lips part. Satisfied Miles kisses you one more time and heads for the door. “I’ll be back.” He calls before he locks the front door behind him.
*Guys, if yall want a part 2, please say so in either my asks or the comments. I won't know if it's good enough to continue if yall don't interact.🤧👍🏾*
