My opinion on the Percy Jackson tv show season 1!
So I watched season one of the Percy Jackson tv show as it was released and now here is time for a quick review!
Tumblr media
Sorry I wanted to finish this drawing before, hope you like it! (To be honest i didn't draw the drawing on the shirts, I just used what was used on the Disney store, but I draw the rest.) You can see it on my Instagram too, without the review
SPOILER WARNING
I'll start my review of season one by talking about...
The characters
Well, first I wanna say I like how the three main characters are being portrayed here ! Percy is a very loving and kind character while Annabeth is a smart girl desperately looking for recognition from her mother. As for Grover, he's a kind and clumsy satyr who really likes Percy and it shows. Basically these three characters love and trust each other and it's incredibly obvious ! Even Annabeth and Percy, who start their relationship by not being that much trusting in each other. I really like how their quest improve their relationship !
What I love too is how the adults are shown, especially Sally and Poseidon. Sally, who was shown as a perfect mother in the book, became a woman who is doing her best to raise her son in the series and I find it so interesting ! The book is in Percy's point of view so it's obvious that he would see her that way, but the tv series isn't exclusively from his point of view so it can show her turning desperate because she don't know how to effectively protect her son. I can say I really like her scene with Poseidon too, that was so touching!
Just a word about Gabe, who is way less clearly abusive. A lot of people thought it was a problem, that he was too nice, but I thought it made him even more scary because if he's not physically violent against Sally, he's still clearly psychologically abusive. Though it seems like Sally is able to manage him a bit.
Just remember that abuse isn't always physical, that you can be abusive without hitting anyone.
The gods
I can say I like how the gods that appears in this first season are portrayed!
Dionysus is so manipulative and bitter, I love it! Even if we never say it in the series (from memory), it's obvious that he doesn't want to take care of the demigods, and I love it!
Ares is wonderfully portrayed as a being who has a real passion for the war ! For example, we see him having fun on Twitter and, later, Grover succeed to convince him to talk to him by talking about less-known wars. He also has that wonderful vibe of "don't mess with me or I'm going to beat you to death".
We don't see Hephaestus a lot but again you feel it's someone confident who is a very skilled blacksmith.
I love that as soon as we meet Hades he's very welcoming and behaving in a very "I don't care about what's happening with my brothers" way. He just want to protect the underworld and, again, it's obvious.
Zeus is incredibly intimidating which, again, I love so strongly ! I can understand why no one would stand to him.
Finally, Poseidon is a very loving dad who can't do much for his son but is trying when he can try. I also love how, at the end, he ends up standing to Zeus to protect Percy. Then the very awkward interaction he has with him because the didn't talk much, Poseidon was mostly absent, but he still love him.
The adaptation
Now, of course I'll talk about the adaptation. And I'll start this part by a very personal story: how I discovered Percy Jackson.
I started my discovery with the movies. Actually with the first one only, I didn't want to watch the second one because I didn't understand why it would have a sequel. I thought it was enjoyable, though very cliche, but far from the best movies. As I didn't know the original story I thought it must have been an adaptation of a very average book series who must have gotten a bit of success and has been adapted because Hollywood didn't have any idea anymore.
Then I finally read the books because a friend insisted it was good, and Internet was talking about how it was full of representations... And now I hate the movies ! Because I considered we could have gotten incredible movies out of the books ! But we didn't...
Honestly I'm not angry that the tv series made so many changes. Because it wasn't exactly my problem with the movies. My problem was it made changes that didn't make any sense, transformed the story into something very cliche and sexist, and wasn't respectful of the mythology when the book was.
I'll only give one example that angers me a lot: Grover's case.
In the book Grover is a very sweet, kind, brave and goofy character who love his friends and even more his girlfriend Juniper! He's very likeable, and a good protector for the demigods he's in charge of.
In the movie he's not likeable at all. He's a goofy character and likes Percy but he isn't sweet and only think about girls... Like you have a scene where he decides to stay with Persephone because she's hot... He clearly isn't sacrificing himself at all. Overall I don't think he's likeable, I thought he was kinda useless and annoying.
In the tv series... He's kinda goofy but not too much, and he's sweet, kind and brave. More than that, he's considerate and I actually like that he's clearly intelligent in this show because he lived longer than Percy and Annabeth. He's not entirely faithful to his book counterpart but the changes make sense and he's still very likeable and I want to hug him so hard !
For now, I'll conclude there. I'll probably rewatch it and make a new review later but I don't want to say I'll surely do it so I won't have pressure. That first season wasn't perfect but it was pretty enjoyable and I can't wait seeing what they're doing next. To be fair, The lightning thief wasn't the best book of the series so I understand it wasn't as fun as the last books.

Quick Review: She Loves To Cook And She Loves To Eat Volume 2
Tumblr media
She Loves To Cook, and She Loves To Eat is a true master piece. A piece of art like no other manga or comic I've read. Volume 2 continues to capture the raw horror of being a lesbian in a heteronormative society. It so boldly captures the media, the social, the societal and even the online aspects of being a lesbian who is figuring out her shit. Not to mention it also talks about so much more like sexism and other issues all while remaining a fairly cute and light hearted series. It's further proof that getting into the weeds and moments that are rough don't take away from an overall wholesome and sweet package but instead add to it, reality adding to the sweetness.
The romance is still in it's early stages in this volume but it becomes clear both women have feelings for each other. Both realizing that what they want is romantic but neither having verbalized it. They have so much chemistry, they are fairly different people but also very similar too and it's a really nice way to see how they add to each others life. It's also nice to see adult women in love and the adult life's effects on their time together and everything.
IT's so heartening to see Nomoto put her foot down with her mother about coming to visit and it's so sweet to see her spend time with Kasuga. It's also really nice to learn more about Kasuga's life, her history. While the series slightly leans into Nomoto's perspective we get both and I think it strikes a good balance since Kasuga is more subdued.
12/10 one of the best comics that exist.
If you like these you can support me buying manga to review over on Patreon and Ko-fi.

Thoughts on Orphan Black: Echoes S1
Tumblr media
Orphan Black: Echoes is a spin-off from the original show Orphan Black. Set in 1052, many years after the events of the original series, Lucy (Krysten Ritter) is the centre subject of the new endeavor regarding cloning.
I went to see this show with no expectations, just that I wanted another cool sci-fi story, and maybe be set in the same universe as the original Orphan Black. I knew the show was going to be different from the previous one, but I was hoping to get something that could hook me as well as the clone club did. And it did. The beginning of the season is a bit slow, but it keeps you in with the mystery and the characters. It will get to some Orphan Black-y levels with some extreme moments that keep me wanting to watch the next episode. It does have the same essence and has some cameos that do not overpower the current characters and story.
Overall, I would recommend it if you did watch the original, and if you are a newcomer, it's also a good story to follow without really needing to watch the original. I can't wait for the next season if they do another one.

I watched the first two episodes of the One Piece live action
And I gotta say, it's alright. Some of the slightly too modern Hollywood movie-esque dialogue in the trailers and the annoying ad campaign on Tumblr made me fear it would be bad, but it's really not. It's a solid action adventure series with good acting, good set and costume design, and of course an interesting story. There's a couple video and sound editing choices I wouldn't've made, and some of the dialogue isn't to my taste, but nothing too bad. It also rewrites quite a bit of how Luffy meets Nami and how the crew's encounters with Morgan and Buggy go down, but honestly, the new story is at least as interesting as the old one. Overall, I'd give it a 7/10.

Order Up, Up, Up - A Quick Review of Splatoon 3: Side Order
Tumblr media
The colourful world of Splatoon is a chaotic one, so maybe it’s time for a little order on the side - but as demonstrated in Side Order, too much order can be a bad thing. This new add-on story campaign for Splatoon 3 shifts gameplay gears into the meta-progressing replayability of roguelikes, unlike the more linear platform-shooter-puzzler levels of the previous campaigns. Agent 8 - the first playable character to return from a previous game, last seen in Splatoon 2’s Octo Expansion - once more awakens in a strange place with a new mystery to solve. Accompanied by Splatoon 2’s idol duo hosts Pearl and Marina, and the until-recently-brainwashed DJ Acht, 8 finds Inkopolis Square seemingly consumed by a strange force, bleaching the world white and infesting it with dangerous skeletal fishy foes.   Together, the team must climb the Tower of Order, a randomly-generated series of challenging puzzles and battles, earning upgrades and reaching the ominously-dark and glitchy top floor to determine just what is going on and who is responsible. In true roguelike fashion, even losing helps progress; once you’ve run out of lives, you’re booted out of the tower, losing the gear you’ve acquired along the way - but you can then spend points on permanent upgrades to help make the climb just a little easier every time. Enter the Tower, fight your way up, die, upgrade yourself, enter the Tower again, reach a little higher this time, and repeat until you’re face-to-face with the Tower’s powerful mastermind. How many attempts will it take you to save Inkopolis?
I was honestly surprised at just how well the roguelike formula translates into Splatoon’s style, even if it lacks some of the massive sheer variety of full roguelike games. Growing stronger thanks to the permanent upgrades between each run is incredibly satisfying - I quickly went from getting mobbed and overrun on the fifth floor to consistently and flawlessly beating the final boss seven times in a row, even with weapons I wasn’t accustomed to using! Even in the early stages, it never feels too frustrating to lose; there’s always a sense of “alright, time for more upgrades, let’s try that again!”   One thing that Side Order falls a bit short of is the more interesting and continuous storytelling from the other campaigns, especially Octo Expansion. The plot effectively freezes entirely between beating the first and second runs of the Tower, which can last quite a while without upgrades. There’s plenty of fun dialogue and character dynamics between the main cast, but it’s all relegated to a handful of conversations that occasionally play out between floors (and frequently repeat themselves), with the actual storyline only really progressing every time you reach and beat the final boss with a new weapon. The DLC might seem “short” to those unfamiliar with roguelike gameplay - the credits roll after beating the final boss for the first time, which technically only takes two successful climbs up the Tower, but that’s just the beginning. The true meat of the DLC is then beating the boss eleven more times, with the player getting stronger each time instead of the boss; the plot continues to progress with every final boss defeat, long after the credits are finished. The first battle against the true villain is also one of the most hype moments in the entire series - a real, unparalleled power trip.   So, while the storytelling engagement isn’t quite up to scratch with the series standard, the handful of character moments still there are just as entertaining as usual, and the gameplay beyond is excellently fun and addictive - that last run was good, but how about just one more attempt?   I hope you enjoyed this quick review of Splatoon 3: Side Order - feedback, reblogs and likes are much appreciated!   Thanks for reading!

Finally beat Majora's Mask for the first time today. I've always avoided playing this game because of the 3 day time limit mechanic being a huge turnoff for me, but I decided I wanted to give the game a chance. I still am not a fan of that aspect and overall I still prefer Ocarina of Time, but I definitely understand why so many people have fond memories of Majora's Mask. Also Feirce Deity Link will always be the best part of that game for me cause god DAMN it was satisfying beating the ever living shit out of that mask!

I’m like, almost done now with Hunter x Hunter’s Chimera Ant arc and, holy shit, while Hunter x Hunter in general is a masterpiece, this arc really knew how to write its characters. Of course the main ones are amazing, but the side characters as well? They can dedicate an entire episode to one of the side characters and it’s still fucking amazing. (My heart goes out to you, Colt and Ikalgo). They’re relatively simple in concept but oh my god, the way they work inside the world is perfection. This can also be said about Gon and Meruem, two very simple in concepy characters who, through interaction with the world, take on a whole new layer of depth simply existing in a reality. I love this style of characterization, it keeps me on my toes and lets me love even relatively new and underdeveloped characters so much (again, Colt and Ikalgo are the motherfucking MVP’s, god damn).
And the main characters of course are amazing, but you don’t really ever see this level of depth given to side characters without making them main characters. This anime actually has great side characters, I can’t believe it. It has such an amazing attention to detail in everything, it’s world, setting, plot, story, systems, characters, and it’s generally hard to find such an amazing attention to detail elsewhere and makes everything feel important and real, and even quite flat and simple characters still feel alive, without compromising their simplicity. And complex systems of the world are relatively easy to grasp, without compromising their complexity, adaptability, and crazy fun factor.
This show is just so much fun to watch, I’d recommend it to anyone really. It’s kind of sad that the most interesting arc is so late in the series (especially after Greed Island, whew, not a bad arc at all, but not this series highest point), but I think if you’re willing to stick around through all of it, it’s worth it specifically because of its place and pacing in regards to the series as a whole. I fucking love this show! I saw Nen being hyped up a lot as the best power system ever, and while I never doubted that, I didn’t expect it to be such a passing thing. Really what makes Nen so great is seeing it in action, how great it is is really just a symptom of how great the writing in general is. You know what? I think I’ll learn the authors name. Yoshihiro Togashi. Wait wtf?! He made YuYuHakusho too?! Hot damn! This man is a natural! Holy shit!

Interesting trailer for Wish. Not sure if I’ll be able to watch it on opening day (of at all), but at least it looks promising.

I don't normally post whenever I watch something new, but I did just finish watching Thor Love and Thunder.
And I loved it.
I still prefer Ragnarok, but this is a contender for my second favorite of the Thor movies. Though I can't say for certain until the recency bias passes.
I love how it wrapped up Thor's character arc, Valkyrie and Korg were tons of fun, Zeus' entire section was a hoot and the movie overall was hilarious (I laughed way more at the screaming goats than I should've. My sense of humor is wacked), Gorr was a shockingly good villain with a genuinely sad backstory that actually benefited his motivations, but the real highlight was just being able to see Jane again. She's always been one of my favorites from the MCU and her and Thor are just way too f*cking cute.
I'd give this movie an 8/10. Your enjoyment of it will definitely depend on if you like this movie's jokes. I have seen people who weren't too into it because of the comedy and that's perfectly fine, but I had a blast watching this with my family.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go read some Thor x Jane fanfics to raise my serotonin because that ending made me cry.

Asumi-chan is Interested In Lesbian Brothels! Vol 1 Quick Review
Tumblr media
Asumi-chan is Intrested in Lesbian Brothels! is a serious and utter delight. This is an adults only book but it is a really cute romance story too. Asumi is using lesbian brothels to find her first crush and say sorry for saying their first kiss was nothing special after getting a tip from her best friend and senpai. For her crush Mai her feelings are mutual and she's never quite gotten over her first crush and wishes she could meet her again. Asumi hooks up with a new girl every week in order to pay for her brothel visit and sex happens. The sex is really cute and we see Asumi developing as a young lesbian as she goes from worker to worker. There is good chemistry between Asumi and the girls in the first volume and her new boss is really fun.
When we dive into Mai's perspective after having her hyped up we see she is also kinda a big pathetic but in an adorable way and still very much pretty and skilled. The manga is well paced and pretty funny. There is a lot of really well done jokes in it. There is 3 sex scenes and one almost sex scene which ironically was probably the hottest scene for me personally.
There is nothing kinky here if your here for porn, just a girl who hasn't had sex before slowly learning what she likes in sex. Maybe further volumes will expand on that there was a lot of talking about kinker sex but the kinker sex talked about so far has been BDSM so if it's getting into it it is like the basic kink that gets explored probably.
Overall, I think even if you aren't a sex enjoyer [which I mean, I don't like sex in real life] I think you'll have fun with this. It is a really cute romance story, with fun little dynamics being explored and very humanized lesbian sex worker characters.

Just finished watching the Yuru Camp movie.
There's barely any conflict, and what conflict is there is easily overcome. About 75% of it is just the characters hanging out and having a fun time together. It's a bold cinematic choice, and the only one they could've made if they wanted to truly make it a Yuru Camp movie. Loved it.

Planet of Lana - Quick Review
Tumblr media
A once-peaceful world under attack, a mysterious army of faceless robots, a kidnapped sister, a young girl with her loyal companion, and one of the most cinematic puzzle games you’ll play all year. Welcome to Planet of Lana. A side-scrolling puzzle and stealth game by Wishfully, Planet of Lana is about a girl that survives an invasion from strange machines that abduct her entire village, including her sister. Determined to rescue the only family she has left, Lana sets out into the wilderness of Nova to find her. Along the way, she encounters a tiny creature called Mui who instantly befriends Lana and follows her commands, helping her solve puzzles and survive her journey. Together, the duo stealthily avoid and outsmart robotic scouts and vicious wildlife in a beautifully hand-painted world that hides just how dangerous and surprisingly creepy it can be, uncovering the secrets of Nova on a planet-spanning odyssey.
First off, I cannot stress enough just how gorgeous this game is. The environments are all completely hand-painted, from every leaf on every tree to each individual blade of grass. Every now and then the game shows off these grand, vast background shots that really sell the idea of this huge adventurous planet you’re exploring. Even the sound design is amazing, like Mui’s adorable little chirps and the eerie melody droned by the robots throughout the game. The robots also have this jarringly distinct artstyle that separates them from everything else in the game, giving off the sense that they aren’t of this world.   In terms of gameplay, Planet of Lana isn’t exactly anything mechanically groundbreaking; you more or less spend the game just walking to the right and solving puzzles or sneaking past robots along the way. It doesn’t do anything new, but what it does, it does extremely well. Despite the straightforward gameplay, the puzzles are often surprisingly difficult headscratchers and the stealth segments are always incredibly tense.   The lack of complex mechanics to learn also means you can focus more on the quiet yet powerful plot - Planet of Lana tells an emotional story from beginning to end, all without a single word of actual dialogue. It’s about a scared yet brave young girl that just wants her sister back, and will quite literally walk to the ends of the world to find her. Add an adorable little creature companion, creepy robots and a stunning artstyle, and you’ve got yourself a truly brilliant game.   I hope you enjoyed the review - reblogs and likes are much appreciated!   Thanks for reading!

Wednesday was honestly a mixed bag for me
I enjoyed it, it was fun to watch, it had my type of humour, the acting was done very well (especially Enid imo), the emotional moments were well executed, it brought up world building naturally, and it used it cast well, no one felt like dead weight
But it's one of those shows I can only like on a surface level, it has a lot of issues if you go deeper than that
For me personally as an example: The romance felt awkward at best and nonsensical at worst, the Hyde only looked scary in the drawings, the CGI made it look goofy, the Addams don't feel like the Addams from other movies (which I can live with, but it's noticeable), the overall story doesn't feel very well thought out, and on a more serious note there's the issue of all black characters being introducing as antagonist that had to be redeemed, and the topic of conversion therapy being handled rather awkwardly and felt like a rushed plot point
Overall, if you wanted a accurate to the source Addams adaption this probably isn't it, if you wanted serious and scary horror murder mystery this probably isn't it, if you wanted a cute coming-of-age romance this definitely isn't it
But if you wanted a fun show to binge with a gothic aesthetic and dark humour, with good tension and interesting characters, then you should give Wednesday a shot
