You know when anime got really popular in the 10s? Yeah...
This is from Uncanny X-Men (1963) #418. This whole book is like this so it's hard to just choose one.
This woman has two eyes, believe it or not.
That's Northstar on the left and Iceman looking constipated on the right. Neither one is recognizable.

everyone’s giving you niche fave xmen characters so mine is shatterstar 🫡 he’s kind of really hard to get into because the comics where his characterization is established are 90s comics that started with terrible art but he’s everything to me. illyana is also one of my favoritest characters ever :-) if u haven’t read all of the original new mutants run (1983) that one is so fun and has her in it for a big chunk
also if u ever want to get generally into the main xmen team you can start with chris claremont’s run (giant size xmen which is one issue and then uncanny xmen (1963) #94 and onwards for a Long time)) which is pretty legendary (has the dark phoenix arc which you’ve probably heard of, includes characters like storm nightcrawler wolverine kitty pryde and ofc jean grey & scott summers)
Oh I’ve read so much of the original New Mutants run!! I just also skipped around a lot when I first started reading it (because I was reading it specifically for Magik :3), so I should probably go reread those parts. Reading Giant Size X-Men is probably a better idea than starting from the beginning… which I definitely didn’t start doing last week…
Shatterstar seems really interesting from what I can see on his wiki page! I’ll totally keep an eye out for him :D

im loving all this nightcrawler stuff on my dash recently! does he have a comic of his own now, or is this a subplot of an xmen comic?
i'm still making my way through the uncanny x-men that started in 1963 that he appeared in (much, much later. he wasn't in the original line up)... he's also in excalibur (comics spinoff), and a few other cartoons and movies. he's a priest in at least 2, and religious in the movies to the point i get second hand embarrassment. However, my first impression of him when I was a kid was in X-Men Evolution, where he was just a cringey but sweet teenager, which is more accurate to his original comics-self but the cartoons and movies are separate from the comics so I'm really just going through the source of all this. No idea why this happened...Uncanny X-men has 100+ issues...Not to discourage anyone, but this is why I gave up on reading all of Daredevil in 2021...
I usually look up and follow a reading list whenever i want to get into a superhero. it makes things easier for me, especially if they've been around for 50 or more years.

Uncanny X-Men #95
Spoilers + Comments + More
Why is Storm colored this weird shade of green? send help please. It's still Dave Cockrum as the illustrator but they have a different colorist this time and it shows (it's Petra Goldberg). Like the colors are fine, good even throughout this issue but Storm's skin color here is not it at alllll.
John Proudstar is also weirdly pink in this issue.
My reaction: Oh Banshee'll just disable the plane with his sonic screams/blasts! eASY PEasy!
HE JUMPED ON THE PLANE? JOHN PROUDSTAR JUMPED ON THE PLANE??
the iconic panel of Charles Xavier feeling John's death
and Then Banshee being guilt-ridden and grief-stricken
and then Cyclops is being all cold with the "guess it woulda happened sooner rather than later. It comes with the job." like bro is not okay at all, his friends left him, Jean left to do her own stuff, and Cyclops is just struggling ain't he.
I wonder if anyone ships Scott and Sean together as like a crack ship at least? I doubt they'd make a good romantic relationship, but like as a one-time hookup. They'd be a funny crack ship imo.

hey! so I really want to get into comic books I've read a few before in the saga series but I was wondering where do you start with xmen? I'm so confused about the order which is why I've haven't started the marvel ones either Is there a guide or something? thanks
hi! comics are very messy and confusing in general, but the x-men's time-line is quite complicated. the x-men have been around since the 60s and are among the most popular superhero teams of all time, so there's a lot of content from them. before i start with this guide, keep in mind that you don't have and shouldn't read all of those titles. there's a lot of content, and you should just read the ones you're truly interested in, and skip the ones you don't like. the concept of canon is really subjetive, and it's really up to you and your interpretation of these titles.
this guide is not as detailed or accurate as i would like. this is just my take on which titles i think you should read, or at least keep in mind. either way, i hope it's useful to you.
x-men, the reading order:
uncanny x-men (1963) → this title is a must read. it's the debut of the x-men as a team, and it has more than #500 issues. this title is probably the main x-men comic-book, because it has a lot of x-men classics. i recommend you to read the following issues: uncanny x-men (1963) [#1 - #93], giant size x-men (1975) #1, uncanny x-men (1963) [#94 - #100], uncanny x-men (1963) [#101 - #108 + #129 - #138] (phoenix/dark phoenix saga). then, continue with the following issues that contain these classic x-men stories, such as: days of the future past, the brood saga, mutant massacre, fall of the mutants, inferno, x-tinction agenda, muir island saga, x-cutioner's song.
x-men (1991) → this title is a must read. alongside uncanny x-men (1963), x-men (1991) is a classic, and it has more than #200 issues. i sugest you to read x-men (1991) [#1 - #109] and go thought the age of apocalypse saga, onslaught, etc.
new x-men (2001) → this title is a must read. it contains key events that shaped modern x-men comics considerably. it contains more than #40 issues.
x-treme x-men (2001) → this title is not as important as the previous ones, but it is interesting. the main plot revolves around the destiny's diaries storyline.
astonishing x-men (2004) → this title is a must read. it contains more than #60 issues and it has a lot of memorable moments. the plot revolves around a genetic cure that is able to neutralize/erase mutant powers.
house of m (2006) → this title is a must read. this event is very significant to the x-men, and it completely changes the status quo of mutantkind.
then, you should read the following storylines, in this order: supernovas, endangered species, messiah complex, dark x-men, utopia, nation x, necrosha, second coming, age of x, schism, avengers vs. x-men. all these storylines are scatered around a lot of x-titles, such as:
uncanny x-men (1963) [#492 - #544], x-men (1991) [#188 - #207], x-men: legacy (2008) [#208 - #275], x-men (2010), x-men: schism (2011), x-men: regenesis (2011), uncanny x-men (2012), avengers vs. x-men (2012), uncanny x-men (2013), x-men (2013), uncanny x-men (2016).
after that, a new era starts:
uncanny avengers (2012), wolverine and the x-men (2015), all-new x-men (2016), death of x (2016), inhumans vs. x-men (2016), astonishing x-men (2017), x-men: gold (2017), x-men: blue (2017).
those are the main titles and storylines that you should keep in mind to get into the x-men and their story. in 2019, the x-men universe got rebooted and a new era started, called dawn of x. to follow the events of the dawn of x era, you should read:
house of x (2019), powers of x (2019), x-men (2019) + x-men (2021).
that would be a really rough and general reading order for the x-men comics. the x-men have a lot of subdivisions/secondary teams, like new mutants, x-force, x-factor, excalibur, generation x, etc. those teams are also key parts on the x-men story, but they aren't main titles. you could take a look at those titles, but if you decide to skip them, it wouldn't really make a huge diference.
i tried to summarize it the best way i could. i hope this was helpful to you!

Darcy: the love you two have is real
Is it though? IS IT REAL DARCY?
She’s lied to him about almost everything, since they went to westveiw and outside of wandavision they’ve had little to no screentime together. Sure, they had a few “close moments” in aou and civil war and whatever their relationship was in infinity war/endgame but??? It just felt forced and rushed.
I know a good chunk of comic book relationships start out that way and eventually turn out ok (look at uncanny xmen 1963, with Logan and Jean. They rarely spoke and most of Logan’s page time was with kurt and ororo or him and scott butting heads over leadership and different approaches to missions and whatnot. And then suddenly Jean is hospitalized when they started the Phoenix arc and Logan’s all “we could have a life together uwu”) but any character that isn’t iron man or captain america in the mcu tends to be somewhat underdeveloped (we can argue thor and spiderman are also under developed but not as much as say, black widow hawkeye captain marvel and the hulk)
Also, her being like “woe is me! I can’t control my reality anymore!” And then Monica shows up ands she’s all “Get out! I’ll hurt you! You deserve it!” Like bitch??? Make up your mind!
Anyway I know the last three episodes are supposed to be extremely long, so I hope they don’t just keep adding questions and plot holes to the story
