There are no detail's on the photo reverse, if anyone knows who the photographer was please message me their name so I can credit them. Thanks. No. 32544 was a 'Large Vulcans' class, 0-6-0 engine, built by the Vulcan Foundry and new to the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway in Dec 1901, carrying No. 2544. In 1923 they and several other rail companies were amalgamated, forming the Southern Railway (SR). In 1948 the railways were nationalised, SR becoming the Southern Region of British Railways (BR), engine No. 2544 became No. 32544. The locomotive was withdrawn from service in Nov 1961, and in Jan 1962 was scrapped at the Ashford Works (BR). If there are any errors in the above description please let me know. The Small Things Spreading Joy in November

Another month over and I would very much time to slow down for minute! I spent the first half of November in Northumberland, location hunting for the house move which, by hook or by crook, will be happening next year. The second half was mostly spent in the back of cupboards wondering when the Doctor had retrofitted all the storage spaces in my parents house to be a set of back up Tardises (tardises? tardisi? really feel there shouldn’t be a plural). How can each space hold so much stuff?

I’ve been doing my best to get a walk each day and I’m grateful that the weather has been very kind in terms of both the amount of sunshine provided in the few hours of daylight we’ve been getting and the temperature. I’ve already had to resort to thermals even though it’s been incredibly mild for the time of year and I dread to think how I’m going to manage when we get a proper cold snap but since I’m trying not to borrow trouble I shall assume future me will deal with whatever happens and get on with sharing the pictures, which is what this post is all about:

BR Steam Loco No. 73022 SCTS railtour @ Wallington - Mar 1965 by Frederick McLean Via Flickr: A photograph of British Railways 4-6-0 locomotive No. 73022 at Wallington railway station on 28 Mar 1965. It is pulling a 7 coach 'Southern Counties Touring Society' "Southern Wanderer Railtour". The photograph reverse is stamped with the photographer (and/or negative owner) name F. C. Hammersley. Locomotive No. 73022 was a 4-6-0 engine, built by Crewe Works and new to British Railways in Oct 1951. It was withdrawn from service in Apr 1967 and in the September was scrapped at 'Cashmore's Great Bridge' scrapyard.
