This idea occurred to me while I was taking a bath and if that one has more support later I will upload a drawing of what teenage DJ Lance would look like.

DJ Lance or simply Lance was a simple high school teenager who, despite his great enthusiasm and personality, was always seen as the weirdo in the classroom for retaining his 'childish' tastes from childhood.

The few friends he had in childhood left him behind and he was already considered a filler friend who was only sought after when his main friends were not attending classes. It was always difficult for him to find someone with his same tastes because they were 'uncommon' and somewhat 'rare', whenever he saw on his social networks to see other people in his classroom having outings, going to parties or enjoying his adolescence, they made him so sad and depressant, and he asked himself ''why can't his life be like this'', ''what happened to make me so lonely'' and his mind remained in a depressive state.

The only place where he usually is is on the Internet and one day wandering between pages he discovers a page called ''character A.I'' in which he saw that he could make bots and chat with them, he decided to create chats of 5 characters that he and their friends made when they were children and they imagined that they had adventures, these characters were: munno, foofa, toodee, brobee and plex, with them they talked in a room to talk with various AIs and they were the best moments they spent with them, a curious fact is that Lance did shifting which allowed him to talk and live with his friends in a realistic way.

Imposter Syndrome (But Different)

Considering it has different anxieties and probably origins, maybe this should be called something different like Gestalt Syndrome or Copycat Syndrome.

Imposter Syndrome is where you feel like your achievements are unearned, like sooner or later everyone's going to realize they shouldn't have been impressed with you in the first place.

And sure, I've had some of that during high points of my careers.

But I'm thinking of more of a kind of identity crisis, where you are aware enough of your influences that you're wondering where the fuck the you is in all this. Where you look at something like ChatGPT and say, "That's not intelligence; It's just a pile of references!" and then get this hollow, ugly feeling in the pit of your stomach and wonder how you're any better.

I often feel like virtually all of my writing style came from Weis, Hickman, and Pratchett, with the speech patterns of Damien Williams and Robert Hetherington driving most of the dialogue patterns not lifted from the Heroes of the Lance or the odd peoples of Discworld.

What really gets me is that people's reply to this kind of thing is to increase my sampling data pool - i.e. Read More Varied Authors - which is good-and-bad advice for a budding author (that's a whole different discussion) but more directly has the flaw of being exactly how ChatGPT improves. If the anxiety is about finding who I am and becoming less like a copycat robot, there's something wrong with trying to fix it the way we try to make a robot better at fooling humans.

Now, this isn't totally accurate. Our person-copying software is presently really bad at copying patterns of behavior when it doesn't already have a pattern of results it can also crib from. If you tell a human Blue and Red make Elprup and Red and Yellow make Egnaro, a lot of - perhaps most - humans can tell you what Yellow and Blue make. If an AI is presented with this, and its training data doesn't include this exact puzzle (which is unlikely since I made it up in my head just now) it will spit out nonsense. Most likely it will spit out nonsense starting with the letter E, since the other two answers started with E. But you, as a human, know that capitalizing the E was a red herring and the real start of the word was at the end.

I don't think copying things like the dramatic "paragraph lead-in to break to one-line mic drop" prose structure from certain scenes in the War of the Lance that I found particularly affective (yes I spelled that right) or retrofitting Pratchett's habit of amusing footnotes into a whole lot of narrator parentheticals or even having a book be largely about a trio of witches going on an adventure where the "crone" member of the trio ends up fighting what amounts to her shadow-self is a sign that I've got nothing of my own going on. (For one thing, it's not like Terry Pratchett invented the three-witch team. That is Old World old. For another, there was so much more going on in that book, such as the parallel plot of Arthur's attempts to judge what was important about Truth in his position as a real journalist of real supernatural phenomena at a fake newspaper)

Even if as the viewer who looks at our behavior that we learned from others we did learn how to be what/who we are by watching others, that doesn't mean we lack intelligence, spirit, or life.

Another post delving into the world of my Pokemon/FE Hacking adventures:

I made Rally skills/moves to boost the designated stat of the target, although it did have some issues: - The obvious one: They only boost the opponent's stats in single battles (aka ~95% battles). - Without modifying battle scripts slightly, stat-boosting moves will only boost the user's stat(s) regardless of target. I had to learn how to edit battle scripts purely to fix this. On the plus side, this knowledge could be useful for other things. - The AI doesn't know how to use them and subsequently spams them in single battles. Due to the last point, I finally decided to make them boost the user's stat instead of the target's a few days ago. A side effect of this is some movepool redundancies - some "Pokemon" having both Sharpen and Rally Atk, physical attackers having Rally SpA and no special moves, etc.

- A really funny thing with Rally Def for me was that if the target switched out, it would inexplicably gain Pursuit's effect and suddenly deal damage. This was due to it replacing Pursuit. A lot of moves in the Pokemon games have "hard-coded" effects but I didn't think Pursuit was one of them. - Similarly but more harmlessly, I replaced Focus Punch with Arden's Blade (a negative priority move that hits twice) and it has Focus Punch's "tightening it's focus" message & animation at the start of the turn - it doesn't make the user flinch if attacked thankfully.

- I have "-Killer" types/attacks that hit Armors, Cavalry, Dragons or Beast 3x effectively. Initially, I had them also share effectiveness with what I believe to be the most appriopriate type (Armor-killer with Axe, Cavalry-killer with Lance, Dragon-killer with Sword, Beast-killer with Dagger [aka Lance]). I decided to remove the "shared effectiveness" due to weird things like Lance/Armors being hit 6x super-effectively by Armor-killers. I might re-implement these though.

The thing that inspired me to make this post: - I was editing what the PokéMarts sell a few hours ago - they're pretty simple once you know what you're doing. However, some of them would randomly cause screw-y effects that would crash the game or cause Bad Eggs and I was tearing my hair out* wondering why - I couldn't figure it out for over an hour. It eventually came to me when looking at the shopping interfaces - in FireRed, sellers can't sell a mix of TMs and non-TM items, it has to be one or the other. It’s because TM sellers and non-TM sellers have different interfaces. This wasn't the case in Emerald, so this surprised me. The more you know...

Shy kiss + nyssara, yes I am mean

(So mean. I could NOT get these two to have a shy kiss, no matter how many ways I tried. I hope this is close enough!)

Sara’s had some bizarre adventures in her unlikely life. They’ve taken her from Nanda Parbat to the Waverider, where the weird highlights have included aliens, puppets come to life, and one late night when Nate and Behrad decided to recreate the meat trifle from FRIENDS and then insisted that the crew eat it. 

But she never imagined she’d walk in on anything quite so odd as the Heir to the Demon standing in the middle of Quentin Lance’s kitchen, surrounded by cake ingredients, glaring at the messy remains of a box of eggs on the floor.

Sara’s trying so hard not to laugh. She can��t imagine that would go down well with the deadly assassin and... amateur baker, apparently.

“Uh. Hi?” Sara says.

“Beloved,” Nyssa says, after a moment’s silence. “I am a failure.” 

She says it with such depth of feeling that Sara flips from amusement to heartbreak in a second. She steps in to take both Nyssa’s hands and squeeze them tight. “You are not. What happened here?”

“I was trying to bake a cake for your father.” She raises her hands to gesture helplessly around the homely, suburban house. “I am out of place here. I hoped to offer some hospitality in return for your family’s.” She lets her head hang as though a few broken eggs are a shame upon her honour. “My reflexes should be far better than this. I allowed myself to become distracted.”

“Oh, Nyssa. That’s so sweet, but...” Sara raises one hand to her mouth, to hide the laugh that’s still threatening to escape against her well-trained will. “Why didn’t you ask me to help?”

Nyssa raises a knowing eyebrow at her. “I was not aware you had learned to cook during our long years apart, Beloved.”

Sara makes a face at her. “I’ll have you know I’ve learned some tricks from a few friends with a talent for baking.” She grabs a cloth from the counter and kneels down to clean up the mess. “Including the formidable Rip Hunter - birthday cakes were his speciality - and you’ve met Mick and Zari. They’re both nearly as good at baking as they are at eating the results.”

Nyssa is looking down at the mess at her feet as if she lost in a skirmish with a great enemy, and not with a box of eggs. “Perhaps I should have asked one of them, or your Gideon, to create a cake for me to bring as a gift,” she sighs.

Dumping the mess in the trash, Sara grins back at her beloved over her shoulder. “Somehow I doubt even an AI’s baking would have met your ridiculous standards of perfection, love.”

But it’s clear Sara’s not managing to cheer Nyssa up - she’s still staring at the ground. “I am sorry, Sara,” she murmurs. “Your father so kindly invited us to stay here before his birthday party, and I merely wished to do something memorable for him... and for you.”

Sara places her hands on Nyssa’s shoulders. “You have,” she says sincerely. She can only hope her eyes communicate the words she hasn’t yet been able to say aloud since Nyssa came back to her - even though she feels it, every day. “Habibti, you have.”

Her eyes have drifted to Nyssa’s lips, already quirking into a smile, as Sara leans in to meet them. She lets her hands move up into Nyssa’s hair, lingering into the kiss for a moment longer than she probably should, in the circumstances. Nyssa’s just too tempting to say no to. She always was.

When they pull apart, Nyssa is smiling back at her, almost shyly. 

Sara gets to appreciate this rare look for all of a few seconds before there’s a cough behind her. With perfectly matched assassin’s reflexes, Sara and Nyssa both whip around - to see Laurel Lance grinning in the doorway. “Hi, ladies. Looks like a couple of assassins lost a fight with a whole lot of cake batter.”

Sara throws a cloth at her. “Are you going to quip, or are you going to help?”

“Probably a little of both,” Laurel shoots back, while Nyssa just returns an unusually warm smile at Sara’s sister.

The cake ends up being a three-person job and, as Sara predicted, it still doesn’t meet Nyssa’s exacting standards. But Quentin thinks it’s the best cake he’s ever seen, and Nyssa damn near preens in delight when he tells her so.

Which leads to Sara dragging Nyssa back into the kitchen to kiss her some more. This time, with a bit less interruption.
