“smile,” james cooed at his son, who gave him a toothless beam towards the camera. “oh, you’re an adorable little pumpkin, aren’t you?” he asks, picking harry up, gently, with one arm, and kissing his forehead.
“obviously,” sirius rolled his eyes, tucking a loose curl of his godson’s behind his ear, “he’s a way better pumpkin than you ever were.”
“i am offended, but you are right. the chubby cheeks really put the costume together well.”
“of course he is,” lily added, stepping out of the kitchen and pecking her son’s cheek, who babbled a laugh and gave his mother a wet kiss under her eye. “he’s the cutest pumpkin i’ve ever seen.”
“and what are you supposed to be, evans?” sirius cocked an eyebrow at her.
“a witch, dracula.” she grinned. “the frank-n-furter costume of last year was so good, too.”
“yeah, well, not exactly appropriate for the occasion, isn’t it?” he asked, nodding towards harry, whose pumpkin bereted head was resting peacefully against james’ shoulder.
“how considerate of you,” she smiled, pressing a kiss to sirius’ cheek, “now come and help me finish those halloween-themed cookies.”

I thought your Remus story was so cute and your writing is so good so I was hoping to request an image where the reader is either the twin of Sirius or James and there’s a very strict no dating siblings policy. Except, obviously, Remus doesn’t care and they secretly date anyways. And they’re like constantly sneaking around and trying to sneakily do stuff in the room with everyone else because they love the rush of possibly getting caught. Of course they do eventually get caught when everyone accidentally walk in on them in bed together. Either a smut or implied smut with some fluff please <3
Thank you Anon, that’s really sweet. I love this request so much omg, love a good brothers best friend trope I do.
Warnings: implied smut (post sex, hickeys) and some fluff
Remus Lupin x Potter!Reader
Don’t Freak Out
Rain was pounding on the window, grey clouds filled the sky with a gloomy yet comforting feeling and a harsh wind was blowing. While the world outside was chilled and bitter, you and Remus had found a way to keep warm in such treacherous weather.
You’d both decided to meet up for an afternoon rendezvous. Knowing James, your beloved twin, he would flip his lid if he found out one of his best friends was shagging his sister, but luckily he was somewhere on the quidditch pitch right about now, so the opportunity to have a little alone time was too good to pass.
A thin sheen of sweat coated your bodies, sheets tangled round your limbs as you rested your head against Remus’s chest, listening to the sound of his heartbeat return to a normal rate. You felt quite relaxed and very satisfied, the young werewolf knowing your body so well that he left you in a blissed out state of contentment every time. His large hands held you close to his, fingers slinking their way up to trace the purpling marks he’d left across your neck and chest, a proud smile on his face.
“Love seeing you like this, Bun.” You looked up at him with droopy eyelids, the corners of your mouth lifting ever so slightly.
“Like what?”
“All fucked out, covered in these-“ he tapped a particularly large hickey that rested at the nape of your neck. “Y’Look so pretty for me Darling.”
“Not too bad yourself Moony.” You tease, leaning up to press your lips to his. It was lazy, and sloppy, but it was perfect, the lovely cherry on top of your wonderful afternoon together. But it was all shattered by the sound of the door to Remus’s dorm opening, loud boisterous laughter ruining the mood.
It was like all the air in your lungs had vanished, panic setting in as you realised there was nowhere to hide. This was it, James was about to discover the truth, and there was nothing you could do.
“What the fuck is going on?!” James’s voice boomed, bouncing off the walls and making you cringe in annoyance.
“Shit.” You heard Remus mutter as he helped pull the sheets tighter around you in order to keep your naked body shielded from the others. Along with James stood Sirius and Peter, both looking just as shocked, although Sirius began to snicker not long after while Peter’s eyes remained as round as saucepans.
“James, don’t freak out, let’s just talk about this like adults, yeah?” You tried, hands a little shaky as you reached for your wand so you could summon your clothes that were scattered around the room, quite comically you thought as your underwear flew down from the ceiling lamp.
“Don’t freak out? DON’T FREAK OUT?! I’ve just walked in on my best friend defiling my sister and you’re telling me to not freak out!” Sirius’s laughter grew with James’s anger. Remus cast you a nervous look, reaching for your hand under the blankets as James continued to rant about the whole situation.
“Look Prongs this isn’t just sex, we actually love each other.” Remus reasoned, squeezing your hand from under the blanket to try get his point across even more. Your cheeks flushed and your smile was full of love, scooching closer to him and kissing his shoulder tenderly. James watched with disgust and fake gagged.
“This is vile.” You rolled your eyes.
“Don’t be such a baby James, you can be mad about this all you want but it’s not going to stop, so you can either be happy about it and supportive, or you can shut up.” James seemed to be contemplating his choices, before he let out a disgruntled huff.
“Fine, but if you hurt her Moony, so Merlin help you.” Remus chuckled as the three boys went to leave, turning to face you.
“I think that could have gone worse.” He smiled, leaning over and planting a sweet kiss to your cheek.
“Yeh, and now he knows we don’t have to sneak around as much.” You two sat in silence for a little while, realising the change that was about to occur in your relationship, not sure how happy you were about it. Part of the fun had been sneaking around, the risk of being caught, but maybe this change could be good, the next step. Casting you gaze at Remus who was already looking at you, you gave a genuine smile which he returned, leaning forward and this time kissing your forehead. The fluttery feeling in your stomach made you giggle, you were definitely ready for more of Remus.

nat bestie!!!! this chapter!!!! 21k words we literally don’t deserve you. we’ve been FED fed with this one.
i’m SO glad the spy was lucius because i was ready to bet my money on remus (you did make him act kinda sus in my defense) so at least no one in the group betrayed each other !!!
and knowing you like the secret history i’m assuming you like donna tartt in general which leads me to believe you’ve not also read but throughly enjoyed the goldfinch (same, btw) and i remembered this quote and i think it’s something that would probably cheer up james a bit (his call with effy shattered me)
“Well - think about this. What if all your actions and choices, good or bad, made no difference to God? What if the pattern is pre-set? No no - hang on - this is a question worth struggling with. What if our badness and mistakes are the very thing that set our fate and bring us round to good? What if, for some of us, we can't get there any other way?”
also when regulus sent james’ the flowers and the card was something like “i’m doing something brave and impulsive :)” i swear my anxiety went through the roof because like. hello???? last time you did something brave in canon look where it got you bitch 😭 then i was like wait we still have a while until chapter 34 so he’s good he MUST BE!!!
at first i was thinking reg might be planning like some kind of marriage proposal to james, but then i changed my mind and now i think that’s what marls wants to do with dorcas in paris.
barty and evan my beloveds!!!
regulus and barty my beloveds!!!
and i finally trust sirius 😭 it only took me 30 chapters but i’m here!
high james was everything i could’ve asked for, he’s a dork and i love him.
i know i’m missing something but this is what came up to me in the moment, sorry for the rant but i loved this chapter sooo much thank you for your service <3
21k words ohmygod 💀💀 I just kept going and going 😭 but also thank you so much!! ily <33
I did make remus sus!! 💀💀 I tried to make everyone a little suspicious at least once just for fun and doubt anskddksl but then I was like omg y’all are y’all gonna be mad when the mole isn’t actually in the group?? ansjdksja But it was all good haha!
stop STOP THE GOLDFINCH IS MY FAVOURITE BOOK OF ALL TIME I mean I have 3 copies of it (1 annotated, 1 for loaning out to friends, 1 audiobook so I can listen to it while walking to class/driving/doing dishes etc) I cannot accurately describe my love for it!! Boris <333 light of my life <333 that quote is so poignant!!!! esp the part right before too
"Well—I have to say I personally have never drawn such a sharp line between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ as you...The two are never disconnected. One can’t exist without the other. As long as I am acting out of love, I feel I am doing best I know how."
also ALSO this quote from the goldfinch is literally the entire guiding principle behind art heist, baby!
"For if disaster and oblivion have followed this painting down through time -- so too has love. Insofar as it is immortal (and it is) I have a small, bright, immutable part in that immortality. It exists; and it keeps on existing. And I add my own love to the history of people who have loved beautiful things, and looked out for them, and pulled them from the fire, and sought them when they were lost, and tried to preserve them and save them while passing them along literally from hand to hand, singing out brilliantly from the wreck of time to the next generation of lovers, and the next."
Regulus leaving his little note about being brave hahaha it was just a little teensy scare! but he came back ! <3
dorlene paris proposal ?? maybe??? who can say ??? also barty <3 i love him sjkfhskdah high james just exacerbates the dork that james already is and i love him for it <3
ahh thank you for reading!! and thank you for the kind words!!!! <3333

⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ Songs That Remind me of Remus Lupin
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🤎 here you will finds songs that remind me of Remus w/ the reason why I thought of these songs! Of course this is just how I see him, but feel free to comment some other songs that remind you of him!! I’d love to hear them :)) link to the Spotify playlist here!!
🤎 please do enjoy this as much as I have enjoyed writing it <3
divider credit @chaefilm 🤎
Tumblr media
ೃ⁀➷ Home by Cavetown
honestly…this song reminds me of the way Remus struggled after James’ and Lily’s death, along with Sirius being sent to Azkaban. made me think of the way everything happened at once for him and just the spiraling feeling that was happening within him :/ ITS SO SAD !!! especially when you’re thinking of it of this way 💔
ೃ⁀➷ Water Fountain by Alec Benjamin
…if I’m honest I thought of Remus for this song in such an imaginative state here. I don’t know why I think that Remus did have some sort of a “first love” moment while he was in hogwarts but it just didn’t work out :( IM SO SAD LIKE WHY AM I DOING THIS— 💔 but of course he thinks back on it and he’s glad that it didn’t work because now he has his ONE AND ONLY TRUE MATE
ೃ⁀➷ Stressed Out by twenty one pilots
again, this reminds me of the time Remus was alone basically. he doesn't have his best friends being his rocks anymore...werewolf regulations are SO MUCH stricter when all of this is happening, that Remus just thinks about the times of when they were younger. it was so much easier then !!! he could act like a normal teenage wizard boy and not think of the consequences.
ೃ⁀➷ idfc by blackbear (but on the playlist the slowed down remix is made by DJ espinos)
Okay, just like water fountain, this also deals with the "first love"...i feel like Remus will try to make things work between him and the person even if it is lies but...he's so cold about it with them at the same time. he will literally act like he doesn't care about them but we all know he's hiding and holding back on them :/ our poor baby
ೃ⁀➷ Animals by Maroon 5
DO I GOTTA SAY MUCH HERE!? LIKE !!!!! LET'S NOT ACT DUMB HERE WE ALL KNOW THAT REMUS IS A FUCKING FREAAAAAAK IN THE SHEETS!!!! Like this man goes feral every time...don't get me wrong he definitely has a soft spot but one little unhinged moan from you...he snaps. instant switch! it's hot ;))
ೃ⁀➷ Do I Wanna Know? by Arctic Monkeys
guuuuuuuuuys i literally think of this the way Remus teases you. like this is his type of foreplay and does he get the fucking rise out of it when he sees you reacting the way he wants you to. omg this man is literally towering over you staring at you with a knowing look in his eyes and that fucking smirk he has when he's up to no good...oh my gods i'm on my knees for him
ೃ⁀➷ As the World Caves in by Matt Maltese
y'all....this song is literally my prime definition of Remus and Tonks. like, i'm so serious when i first heard this song they were the first thing to pop into my head. i'm so serious when i say that is literally their ride or die (CRYING HERE HOLD UP) song to me...like go and read the lyrics and you'll get what i mean 💔
ೃ⁀➷ Moonlight by Chase Atlantic
this song is literally how i think Remus will think of you when he's starting to actually notice you and become interested in everything about you. the song is literally giving "you make me so curious" vibes just LJHDFHEFKJENF:IHEF
ೃ⁀➷ PARANOID by Chase Atlantic
another song that reminds me of the hardship Remus went through when he was alone. i honestly believe that Remus HAD to have gone through some sort of hysteria that really, and i mean really, made him paranoid that he really couldn't function properly :(
ೃ⁀➷ Teacher's Pet by Melanie Martinez
this song is here for the sheer fact that we all met Remus as the DADA teacher and oh my gods was i living that teacher x student fantasy with him !!! YEAH IT"S BAD WHEN I THINK OF IT NOW but...it's just hot
ೃ⁀➷ Persephone by Tamino
tbh i first thought of this song and just thought this fits Remus' aesthetic...? though i know its pretty much agreed that this song deal with Hades and Persephone but i don't know why I always think that Remus' love is just like Hades love for Persephone...just something about it makes me so freaking warm and fluffy inside that i could just cry in joy honestly.
ೃ⁀➷ Apocalypse by Cigarettes After Sex
if Remus wrote you some sort of poem...this is the song. like, i feel like it fits the way he would want to describe his feelings for you through paper, because the poor man cannnoooot say it in your face
ೃ⁀➷ Fairytale by Alexander Rybak
this is solely here for the aesthetic vibes but also for that other imagine part i've always thought that fits Remus, where he was in love with in school but was scared to approach you in a romantic way, but years later he sees you again and it's like those feelings never went away. he felt like he was back at school just watching you from afar.
ೃ⁀➷ Sweater Weather by The Neighborhood
another Remus Lupin aesthetic song !! this song honestly fits him so much just for the overall vibe i get from him and everything :))
ೃ⁀➷ Marinero by Maluma
i had to sneak in a Spanish song here, especially this song!! for those that don't understand Spanish, there are English lyric translations on YouTube, trust me it won't disappoint you. I have this song here just because i feel like Remus will take advantage of the way you feel for him because he doesn't know how to handle it. Excuses I know, but it's the hard reality for him and you.
ೃ⁀➷ Nobody by Mitski
i feel like this song kind of describes Remus's desperate need to have some sort of connection with the outside world, but at the same time he's overthinking it due to the past experiences and he doesn't have his people to weigh him down in case of anything :/
ೃ⁀➷ Daddy Issues by The Neighborhood
...do i gotta say much. this man has daddy issues because of the way his father was with him. he's in that club with us, but also it also speaks of the way he is with relationships, especially sexual relationships to me.
ೃ⁀➷ Runaway by AURORA
this song is literally Remus reconnecting with life. He finally has Harry in his life, and he finally has Sirius back too. he feels complete but that nagging feeling in the back of his mind makes him want to run away from it cause he's finally back home.
⁀➷ Who (feat. BTS) by Lauv, BTS
i honestly have this song in the playlist just for the sheer fact that Remus WILL overthink your relationship just because his wolf hasn't claimed you as their mate, and it makes him absolutely anxious. because what if his true mate is out there and it isn't you in the end? what is he going to do?

mercy pt. 3
What would you do for someone you love? Would you lie for them? Steal? Would you kill for them?
(a story of seduction, sin, and crime in six parts)
disclaimer: i apologize for everything you are about to read and take full responsbility.
part 1 + 2 here
cw: being mean to a child; kissing
It felt like a new day had come.
Warm like the first rays of morning sun that came through the curtains of her bedroom; that first breath of air after treading in deep waters for what felt like ages. Sirius had a laugh that shook the walls of her house and shook Petunia awake from deep hibernation. Petunia hadn’t even known something was missing in her life until Sirius came along, beginning to fill in the holes, growing flowers in a garden that had been neglected.
Tuesdays and Fridays became their days, where Sirius would bring over dinner and lend Petunia a shoulder to cry on if need be. The days he put away the dishes that had gathered in the sink, entertained her nephew, reminded her to breathe because she was alive and so was Sirius. The days that got longer and longer, drifting into evenings in the sitting room, grey eyes—she had spent long enough looking into them now to catch the color-- illuminated by lamplight and starlight exclusively.
“I really like talking with you,” Sirius said one evening after the days, the weeks, the months had gone by and her nephew was in bed. There was no statute of limitation on when it was appropriate to start fancying someone else after the death of your husband, but Petunia liked to believe that six months was…just fine. Because she couldn’t stop her heartbeat from speeding up when she went to answer the door for Sirius, or the way she would lay down in bed at night and close her eyes, wishing he was there next to her. Six months later and she was pushing the boundaries of how late was too late for just conversation. Reminiscent of when she was a teenager, trying to keep her voice down in the night to not wake her parents while she talked on the phone, but now it was her nephew. But now she was an adult and supposed to be grieving and maybe the act of keeping her voice down was to prevent Vernon—wherever he may be—from hearing it at all. Pretending that Dudley was at his door listening to his mother giggle at the antics of a charming bachelor who was seemingly made for sin.
“It’s nice,” she said barely above a whisper.
Sirius laughed softly, a hand rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly, “I…hope you don’t…please don’t take this the wrong way, but…I’d really like to get a drink with you. Or…I dunno, a cup of coffee outside of your home?”
“Oh.”
“Is that foolish of me?”
“No..I…”
“Just…as friends, if you’d like. I just thought it would be nice to have a change of scenery. I do have a car I could pick you up in. An hour or two? We could walk around a museum…keep talking just not at a kitchen table.”
“I don’t drink coffee,” Petunia said, “And museums…rather boring.”
“I agree, but I think they’d be exciting with you.” She giggled softly, a fingernail caught in a knot of blonde hair, “Or dinner? I know you eat dinner, and I…particularly enjoy dining with you. As much as I adore Harry—”
“God knows why. Wretched boy.”
Sirius cleared his throat, “It would be nice to be…alone with you. There are some things…best not said in front of a child,” he gave her a wink and Petunia averted her gaze, still trying to untangle the fingernail from her hair. Sirius reached forward slowly, and Petunia’s breathing hitched as his warm, tattooed hand connected with her own, gently coaxing fingers out of hair, brushing it out of her face, and tucking it safely behind her ear. If his hand seemed to linger for a moment, neither of them addressed it. What could Petunia say?
Except for one thing.
“Yes.”
“Good answer,” Sirius said, his voice kept low, his thumb brushing against her cheekbone.
“I’ll have to get a babysitter for the boy…”
“I..might know someone? Unless you have a list already.”
“Doesn’t matter.”
--
Petunia had married young, and after that, she stopped prepping for dates with Vernon. Not that Vernon offered to take her out much after Dudley was born and even less so when Harry had arrived on their doorstep without her consent. Two children, well, one child, had effectively ruined the spark their marriage had, impossible to schedule romance and candlelit dinners when someone was so much trouble and both Vernon and herself were constantly nursing headaches. Date night was a bottle of scotch and half an Ambien.
But she found herself pinning up her hair on Friday. Pressing powder into her face and blush along her cheeks. She took her wedding ring off leaving it in the jewelry box on her bathroom counter, fastening a pearl necklace around her slender neck. A matching bracelet too. Some said pearls were outdated, and Petunia disagreed. They were classic. Elegant. Refined. Perfectly normal and acceptable, and she had a hunch Sirius would agree.
She could tell he was brought up well; a gentleman with high standards for himself, despite what his rugged appearance may have initially led her to believe.
Sirius pulled out chairs and opened doors. Sirius offered to carry her groceries and covered his mouth when he was chewing. He made a few remarks on not liking a woman to show too much skin when they had gotten onto the subject of modern fashion trends that pushed modesty aside. But even so, that didn’t stop Petunia from leaving the top few buttons of her blouse undone. Just enough.
She walked down the stairs of her home, her small heels clopping on the wood loud enough to ensure Harry came out of his room.
“Your babysitter will be here soon, Harry,” she shouted, walking into the sitting room, smoothing down the wrinkles in her skirt, “Make yourself presentable!”
The door under the stairs creaked open and Harry emerged, brushing dust out of his unruly hair, pulling on his t-shirt.
“Who’s my babysitter?” asked Harry, twisting the hem of his shirt, not quite meeting Petunia’s gaze.
“I don’t know, does it matter? I’ll take all the help I can get. A few hours not having to look after you,” she spat, examining her face in the small mirror in the sitting room, pushing her blonde hair behind her ears. “You’ll be on your best behavior tonight.”
“Yes, Aunt Petunia. Do I…what’s for dinner?”
“That is not my responsibility to figure out,” she told him, just as there was a knock at the door. She glanced at the clock—Sirius was right on time as usual. “Stop fidgeting and come say hello, child.”
Petunia took a deep breath and opened the door slowly, gracefully, to not show how eager she was to get out of the house. To dine across the table from Sirius who was slowly lifting her off her feet. Sirius was there, in finely pressed trousers, button-down tucked in neatly with a belt that looked like it was made of expensive leather, alongside his shoes. He had a suit jacket around his shoulders as well, Petunia catching a glimpse of the emerald green lining on the inside. Designer. Of course, it was.
“Hello, love,” Sirius greeted warmly, giving her the smile that made her knees start to wobble. But she was temporarily distracted by the other man next to him. Tall, lanky, with scars across his face that made her gasp and take a step back, “This is my friend Remus. Loves kids, teaches even. Excellent babysitter.”
“How could you possibly teach?” Petunia asked
“Ah, don’t let the scars scare you,” Sirius said, “Kids think it's fun to imagine this sweet, sweet, man is some sort of murder or criminal.” The two men stepped in, shutting the door behind him.
“Remus Lupin, I’ve heard a lot about you,” said the scar-faced man, and Petunia gingerly took his hand. It didn’t have nearly the same appeal Sirius’s hand did.
“I’m sure you have.” Petunia said, and looked down at her nephew, “This is Harry, he’s been ordered to behave himself this evening while I’m out. There will be no need to call.”
“Is there anything…I should know?” Remus asked
“What’s there to know? He’s a child. He can stay in his room all evening, he knows how to keep himself occupied. Say ‘hello’, Harry.”
“Hello, sir.” Harry said shyly, looking up at Remus, “Thanks for watching me. I promise I won’t be any trouble.”
“Don’t make promises you can’t keep, boy,” she said, looking down her nose at her nephew, who hung his head once more. Satisfied, she turned back towards Sirius, “Let me get my purse and we can go.”
“Certainly,” Sirius said shortly, and for a moment Petunia was caught off guard by the clipped tone.
“Everything okay?”
Sirius smiled though, looking at Remus who was now squatting down low to the floor, trying to get Harry to take the tiniest steps forward and pick his head up again instead of shifting nervously, “Everything’s great. You simply took my breath away with…” he trailed off, at a loss for words and simply gestured to Petunia. “It’s just…such a yellow…skirt. Forgive me.”
“You’re forgiven,” she smiled, blush spreading across her face, walking to get her purse from the hooks by the front door.
“When should I have him in bed?” Remus asked, finally able to coax Harry over to him so he could properly shake his hand, Harry smiling a little.
“Why should I care?” she asked, heading out the door that Sirius had opened for her.
--
An expensive restaurant, judging by the prices on the menu and the valet service at the entrance. It hadn’t occurred to Petunia until that moment that Sirius would have money. But the clothes, his car, the way he confidently ordered a bottle of wine for the two of them told her that prices clearly didn’t matter.
Petunia laughed so hard she choked on her wine, the liquid burning her nose.
Her elbow landed in the olive oil for her bread more than a few times, a stain visible on her blouse.
Sirius tucked her hair behind her ears for her. Sirius told stories of his time in France, filling Petunia's head with fantasies that maybe if this was really something, she could come along.
He didn’t mind the stain on her elbow.
Or her embarrassing laugh.
Or the way she dropped her fork onto the floor from nerves several times.
You’re the most…interesting woman I’ve ever met. I hope I’m not too bold in saying that.
Just bold enough.
Your eyes in this candlelight…I’ve never seen anything so...
Sirius stumbled over his tongue around her.
Mr. Cool and Confident, falling apart when given opportunity to compliment her; appease her.
I’m sorry, I’m usually more articulate
Petunia wasn’t sorry. Not one bit. Especially not when he walked her to the door.
“I had….an evening with you, Petunia,” he said.
“Yes.”
“I’m wondering if…maybe you would be open to doing it again. I know Remus won’t mind babysitting.”
“Yes,” Petunia said eagerly, barely letting Sirius finish his sentence. For all Petunia cared, Remus could’ve been a mass murderer watching her child if it mean she could leave the confines of a house that held too many memories and step outside into the starlight with Sirius. “You can call me, on my phone, if you’d like.”
Sirius shook his head, “I prefer…in person. I can’t see you through the phone.”
Her heart soared. He was so attentive. Petunia was never the woman everyone noticed in the room, but with Sirius…she was the only woman he even looked at.
“Then…I’ll see you on Tuesday? Our usual day?”
“Our usual day,” he said and reached forward to take her hand, pressing a whisper of a kiss to the tops of her knuckles.
--
“Sirius, I think you’ve washed your mouth out enough,” Remus said, his arms folded as he watched Sirius at the sink with amusement.
“She turned her bloody head, Remus! SHE TURNED HER HEAD!” Sirius exclaimed, rubbing a towel roughly across his mouth, “It’s been almost two months of dating or whatever the hell I’m doing with her, and not once has she ever hinted at wanting a kiss, but she turned her head! My mouth was on her mouth and this was after I spent an evening listening to her babble about the different types of grains in 9-grain bread. I’m going to fucking lose it.”
“Going to? Already there aren’t you?” Remus teased.
“Fuck you."
“Please. That should cleanse your palette, shouldn’t it?”
Sirius scrubbed his lips roughly with the hand towel before tossing it in Remus’s direction, “Arse.”
“Why were your lips so close to hers in the first place?”
“I was aiming for her cheek! A cheek—”
Remus gasped and clasped his heart, “Sirius Black! You scoundrel! A cheek kiss.”
“I’m French, it’s practically a handshake and she was the one who made it….” Sirius grimaced, turning around towards the sink once more, repeating the process of washing his face and his mouth out.
“Having second thoughts?”
Sirius spat into the sink, making eye contact with Remus in the mirror, “Never.”
“Good,” Remus said, “Harry and I had a great time tonight, by the way. Thank you for asking.”
“I’m in distress right now.”
“Clearly. We’ve started reading Treasure Island together. He reads a lot, tells me it's one of the quiet activities Petunia lets him do.”
Sirius inhaled deeply, standing up straight once more, his expression darkening at the mention of Petunia’s treatment of his godson. Remus pushed off from the wall, walking into the bathroom to wrap his arms around Sirius’s waist.
“Sometimes…I think we’re bad people,” Sirius said slowly, “And then…you say something like that, and I…don’t think we’re bad at all.”
Remus kissed him on the cheek from behind, “He’ll be okay…how much longer do you think?”
“Well...she knows I’m rich and is making great use of that. Free childcare is a bonus…how long did it take you to fall in love with me?”
“About an hour.”
“Then I think we’re there. Now we…just…wait for enough time to pass so she doesn’t feel guilty for forgetting about her husband and son so quickly.”
Sirius turned his head fully, Remus taking the hint and kissing him soundly on the mouth but pulled away, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.
“Never mind, wash your mouth again. You taste like a dusty handbag. Kissing me with that mouth you kiss Petunia Dursley with…”
“When he’s seventeen and trying to decide which one of us he loves more…I’m going to tell him all about this.”

SOMETHING TO REMEMBER - Sirius Black Smut
Tumblr media
Pairings: Sirius Black x Virgin Reader
Warnings: NSFW, 18+, first time, fingering, making out and more
Word Count: 2k+
*Not my Gif
The marauders were quite famous at Hogwarts, known for their pranking and good looks; the group of boys had everyone looking at them at all times. Some people looked at them with hatred, such as Severus Snape and others worshipped the ground they walked on.
You had neutral feelings about them as long as they didn’t mess with you, you were fine with whatever chaos they were causing, plus their good looks and charm were always a nice thing to be around.
Today, the group of boys decided to turn all the Slytherin uniforms Gryffindor red, causing most of them to be in a foul mood. You found it particularly funny, especially when you saw Lucius Malfoy with his platinum hair in the uniform.
Late afternoon on Friday, you were all sitting in potions listening to Slughorn ramble about random topics that he found interesting when suddenly a student knocked on the door.
“Professor Slughorn, Professor McGonagall needs you for something important,” a random second-year student told him. “I’ll be back soon everyone, please read page 300 in the meantime.”
Nobody truly listened to him; instead, everyone turned to their friends.
Feeling a sudden warmth around your ear and you turned to see Sirius Black closing in and leaning towards you. You and Sirius had a strange relationship; he would flirt with you at any chance he could just to see you blush, and to be honest, you didn’t mind the attention.
“So you coming to my party tonight?” he whispered gently in your ear. Your body covered with chills because of how close he was.
“I don’t think so; I have a lot to study.”
A pouty expression made its way on his face, “cmon it’s my birthday; it would mean a lot to the birthday boy.”
Before you could reply, Professor Slughorn made his way back into the room and began his lesson again with just a few minutes left of class. As you were heading back to your dorm room after, a loud booming sound echoed throughout the hall calling your name, “Y/N, wait up.”
Sirius was rushing across the hall trying to reach you, “you never said yes, you know,” the fit boy told you and wrapped his arm around your shoulders to guide you to your dorm.
“Fine, I’ll come for a little bit, and that’s only because I want to talk to Remus about this new book that came out last month,” you mentioned.
Little chuckles escaped his lips as he found your slight obsession with books adorable, but he would never mention that to you at least not right now. “We both know you’re coming for me, darling, save me dance,” Sirius said while walking away, causing you to let out a deep sigh because of how he was making you feel.
Meanwhile, when you got back to your dorm, you decided to pick what to wear to the party and got ready since you only had a little bit of time before it became dark. Whenever any of the marauders threw a party, they tended to get a little wild and out of control so you had to prepare yourself for that.
When nighttime finally hit, you met up with Lily, Alice, Marlene and Mary to head to the party together. Glowing lights brightly lit the Gryffindor common room, the smell of alcohol and weed flowing through the air and the music was loudly played throughout the room. No doubt the music choice were all Sirius’s favourite muggle songs.
You saw the birthday boy and James singing along to whatever song they could their hands on while dancing on the tables already out of their minds. Remus and Peter were trying to get them down before they injured themselves but they were having trouble standing up themselves.
“Guess we have to catch up,” Marlene grinned and dragged all of you to the table that offered the fire whiskey. After several shots, you were finally relaxed and in a similar mindset as the boys. As time went on, you danced and took even more shots with everyone at the party, including Remus, who decided to let loose tonight. Everyone was having the time of their lives, nobody thought about what was going on outside of Hogwarts, but only the party in the Gryffindor common room.
Around 3 a.m, people started heading back to their rooms, and only you, Lily, Marlene, Mary, Alice, Frank and the marauders were left sitting on the couches.
“Let’s play spin the bottle,” Mary suddenly brought up and pulled everyone in a circle. Mary decided to spin the bottle first, and it landed on Marlene; the two girls didn’t hesitate and shared a sweet but intimate kiss.
“That was too easy for you guys,” Remus blurted out, suddenly feeling the effects of the alcohol. The girls shrugged while giggling as Marlene spun the bottle and it landed on James. James gave her a quick peck out of respect for Lily.
Next, James spun the bottle, and it landed on Sirius Black.
“No, Padfoot, cmon not again,” James groaned out, not interested in kissing his best mate. Curiously, Alice said, “what do you mean not again?”
Sirius winked, “That’s a story for another time; let’s go prongs, pucker up.” James and Sirius leaned in and gave each other a quick kiss before wiping it off as soon as they finished. The whole group erupted into laughter over the discomfort they saw in the two.
As the laugher started to die down, you began to grow nervous as you noticed it was Sirius’s turn to spin the bottle, and just because of your luck, the bottle landed on you.
Sirius moved towards you, “May I?” You nodded your head at him as you both gradually leaned in and connected your lips. Sirius could feel how nervous you were, so he allowed you to make the next move without pushing you any further.
You deepened the kiss when you felt at ease and could taste cigarettes, fire whiskey and a hint of honey lingering on his lips.
Sirius raised his hand to caress the soft skin of your jaw as he slipped his tongue slowly past your lips, trying to savour this moment as much as he could. Both of you didn’t realize the others were still there until you heard someone clear their throat. Sirius sighed against your lips before giving you one last peck and pulling away to look at your friends again.
The awkward moment passed as time went on, and one by one, everyone went to bed until it was only you and Sirius.
“You know this wasn’t a one-time thing; I really wanted to kiss you, love. I’ve actually liked you for a while now,” Sirius broke the silence and grabbed your hand.
You smiled at him, returning his actions, “I wanted to kiss you too Sirius.” A big grin made its way across his face as he grabbed your waist and pulled you into his lap.
This time you closed the distance between the two of you as your hands grasped his precious locks. The kiss got deeper and more intense with time. You pulled away to steady your breathing as Sirius attached his lips to your jaw, nipping at the skin. Sirius loved the way your skin felt on his lips as he left kisses all across your neck and jaw.
“We should stop before we do something you might regret,” Sirius tried pulling away, but you captured his face and brought him back into the kiss.
In a soothing tone, “I’m not going to regret doing anything with you because I have feelings for you too, I’m sure Sirius,” you told him. Suddenly, Sirius stood up with you wrapped around his body as he headed towards the door of the common room.
“Where are we going,” you whispered, trying to keep your voice as quiet as possible. “Somewhere that’s going to give us a little more privacy.”
A door appeared out of nowhere on one of the walls allowing Sirius to step in. It was a replica of the Gryffindor common room except a king-sized bed in the middle. He settled you on the bed as he began kissing down your body, not leaving an inch uncovered.
You helped him unbutton your shirt as he started to kiss your exposed breasts, leaving love bites that you’ll cherish in the morning. “Siri-us,” your moans filled the room as you pulled his hair from the pleasure.
“Fuck, I love your tits,” his words made you blush as you tried to hide your face in your arms, but he didn’t give you the chance to do so. He took off your shirt and bra as he began palming and teasing your nipples, causing chills to gather around your body. You tried to take his shirt off, but his actions stopped you midway. One hand continued to caress your tits, but his other hand started to rub you through your panties, trying to gather your arousal.
“Darling, are you trying to kill me,” he groaned out. Sirius took your panties off but kept your skirt on as he began rubbing your bare cunt.
“We can stop anytime, you know, are you sure you want me to continue,” he asked you one last time. You nodded your head furiously at him trying to get him to continue, “I need words Y/N.”
“Yes, please,” you told him as he entered one finger through your folds and teased your clit with his thumb. Feeling your body clench hard around him as you tried to adjust to the new feeling. Once your body relaxed; he sped up his movements and added another finger.
You felt a foreign feeling on your clit, as something wet started licking at it. Sirius’s head was between your legs as his tongue worked on your clit and his fingers in your pussy. The new action created a different feeling, a good difference. “Plea-se, don’t stop. I’m going to cu-,” you panted as you felt your stomach twist and clench.
“Let go for me,” Sirius groaned out as he felt you release on his tongue and fingers. He helped you calm down after your orgasm by rubbing your thighs whispering praises throughout the entire process. When your eyes opened, Sirius was leaning over and looking at you with lust and love in his eyes. You felt his bulge rubbing against your body as he began peppering kisses on your face.
You both helped him out of his clothes so that he was left bare. His cock stood proudly as the red tip was oozing already with pre-cum and the rest throbbing. He switched your positions so that he was laying underneath you now as you sat in his lap in nothing but your skirt from earlier tonight, quickly; he casted a contraception spell.
His hands rubbed down his cock to get it ready for your next move.
“Ready?” the raven-haired boy asked. His thumbs rubbing circles around your hips, reassuring you if you had any regret you can back out now.
You nodded and braced yourself before slowly lowering yourself on his cock. Your breathing increased as he stretched you out, the pain increased as you went down inch by inch, his face scrunched up in pain and pleasure as he wanted nothing more than to thrust fully into you.
“Love, it’ll feel a lot better if you relaxed,” he told you, trying to make this pleasurable for you both when he saw the tears welling in your eyes.
You controlled your breathing as you felt your muscles loosen and the pain became more bearable. He felt you relax around him as it became more pleasurable rather than painful. Sirius gently thrusted trying to see your reactions at a slow pace; with a nod and brief bounce, his thrusts got quicker.
Pleasurable moans left your lips as his cock hit spots that you weren’t familiar with; you began returning his thrusts and tried to control the movements yourself when you felt more comfortable. Nails started dragging down his chest when Sirius angled his hips differently, causing him to aim at your g-spot.
“Darling, you feel so nice and tight,” he groaned out, trying to last a little longer but your pussy preventing it. He dragged your body towards his own and began rapidly thrusting, causing the room to be filled with your loud moans. His lips connected to your neck, breasts and anything else that he could find. He saw your mouth fall open when his finger made contact with your clit as he rubbed a figure-eight motion helping you reach climax.
“I’-m close,” you groaned in his ear as your body began shaking and the tight feeling made its way back in your stomach. Sirius didn’t stop when he felt you cum all over his cock, he continued working you through your orgasm while trying to reach his at the same time.
“Sh-it” he exclaimed as he released his cum. You felt his cum mix with yours as it dripped out leaking onto your thighs and the bed.
Once both of you came down from your high, you slowly got off Sirius to lay down beside him cuddling into his warm body. The only sounds in the empty room were your heavy breathing and the light rain that was hitting the windows. The air began to feel cooler as you snuggled deeper into Sirius, burying your head in his chest.
“How was that for you,” his beautiful voice genuinely asked you.
In a calm tone, “Something worth remembering” you told him as your eyes started to flutter away.

i feel like you write really good arguments, as a few people have brought up before, where the parties make mistakes but own up to them and acknowledge the other side. Same thing with Captain Sirius- his reprimands are always respectful. It feels mature and just well-thought out. But we know Sirius wasn't always like that, because he came to dumo's house knowing arguments=violence. Would you write a fic where Sirius learns how to argue/captain? maybe from Dumo-the-parent? Does that make sense?
Father-son bonding on this fine Thursday! I love it! SW credit goes to @lumosinlove <3
Dumo’s phone rang halfway through his lunch, which wasn’t unusual, except for the fact that it was Sirius calling and not…well, literally anyone else. Sirius seemed rather allergic to his phone—text replies often went unanswered for an average of 3 hours, and he wasn’t sure he had ever managed to reach Sirius on the first ring. Concern flickered in his chest and he lifted it to his ear.
“H—”
“Oh, thank god,” Sirius said, breathless. “Hi, hello, it’s me—uh, it’s Sirius—and I was just calling to ask for some help because I’m the captain now—you know that, what am I doing—and I don’t have a fucking clue what to do and I’m kind of—”
“Sirius,” Dumo interrupted as soon as his astonishment faded. He had never heard Sirius say so many words in so little time. Silence fell on the other end of the line. “Sirius, are you still there?”
“Yeah. Sorry.”
“Okay, take a deep breath, then tell me what you need.”
Another beat of quiet passed. “So, I’m the captain now.”
“You are.”
“And the guys really like you, but I don’t even know where to start, so I was hoping you could give me a hand with this.”
“With what?”
“How do I make people like me?” Sirius asked, sounding uncharacteristically timid.
Dumo paused, confused. “They already do.”
“But I’m the captain now. They have to like me more, right?”
He pinched the bridge of his nose, torn between laughing and laying down to stave off a headache. “Why don’t you come over and we can talk in person, alright?”
“Right.” Sirius cleared his throat. “Right, yeah, about that.”
“Sirius. Are you—are you currently on my porch?”
“…maybe.” Dumo closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “It’s kind of cold out here.”
“You have a key.”
“I thought it would be rude to just let myself in.”
“Oh my god,” Dumo muttered, rising from his chair with a huff. The autumn wind howled as he opened the front door, stripping the trees of their leaves and turning Sirius’ cheeks vivid red as he stood on the top step with the phone still at his ear and anxiety written all over his face.
“Bonjour.”
“You can hang up the phone now.”
Sirius bit his lip and slid it back into his pocket, waiting awkwardly until Dumo motioned him inside and he hurried out of the chill. “Thanks for picking up, by the way.”
“Of course. I’ll always pick up the phone for you.” He guided him toward the kitchen with a hand on his shoulder. “Coffee?”
“Yes, please.”
Still so polite. The coffeepot was still warm from Celeste’s late breakfast, and Sirius’ eyes grew wide at the steam curling off the top when Dumo handed him a mug to wrap his frozen hands around before sitting across from him. “Back to business. Number one: the team already likes you, and you need no help from me getting their approval. Got it?”
Sirius nodded and took a sip.
“Number two: If you ever need my help, please don’t wait on the front porch in freezing weather when you could just knock.” A sheepish smile twitched at the side of his mouth and Dumo shook his head. “I won’t be responsible for your hypothermia. Now, what did you want advice about?”
Sirius let out a slow breath. “I don’t want to be the hardass captain that everyone hates. I just—this is an amazing opportunity, but honestly I just want my friends.”
Dumo hummed, even as his heart panged. “At the risk of sounding vague, the way to do that is to not be a hardass in the first place. Be a leader instead.”
“But I have to tell them what to do—”
“—and a leader does that the right way. There’s a difference between being a leader and being a tyrant. Push them to be better, but don’t be cruel about it. Set an example through the things you do, not the things you make other people do.” He touched the back of his hand gently and Sirius’ eyes flickered over. “Don’t lead through fear, but through respect.”
“I don’t know how.”
“That’s why you called me, non?” He waited until he saw the small smile return. “Alright, how would you approach a situation where one of your teammates is lagging behind in their speed trials?”
Sirius blinked. “Tell them to do better?”
Different tactic. “How did your coaches talk to you when you lagged behind in your speed trials?”
“…told me to do better.”
Orion Black, I will break your kneecaps the next time I see you. Dumo poured himself a fresh cup of coffee. “That may have been a strategy for you, but for someone who is already trying their best, it could be very discouraging. They might resent you for trying to seem better than them.”
Sirius’ brows furrowed. “But I’m not.”
“I know. But they wouldn’t. In my opinion, the best course of action would be to ask what’s wrong, and how you can help. It might not get better overnight, but that teammate will trust that you can help them with their problem and will know that you care about them.”
“So I should just let them fail for a while?”
“You push them toward success gradually, and don’t berate them for any hiccups along the way. Failure can bring growth.”
His mouth set into a line of frustration. “That doesn’t make any sense.”
“I’m not explaining this right,” Dumo muttered, chewing the inside of his lip. How to explain to the new leader of your team what leadership is... “Let’s put it this way. You want Pots and Harzy to run a specific play, but they don’t understand it. How do you fix it?”
Sirius started to answer, then closed his mouth and thought for a moment, staring into the depths of his coffee. “I…I would walk them through it section by section, because I know they’re smart, but they might have problems with different parts.”
Dumo wondered if the room had actually become brighter, or if the pride in his heart was just shining through into the real world. “Exactly. And afterward, when they get it right?”
“High-five and run it again.”
“Now you’re getting it!” Something more difficult... “What if Kuny and Nado won’t shut up during Coach’s breakdown?”
“Tell them to be quiet.”
“But then Nado calls you a buzzkill and starts whispering to Kuny, and giving you looks.” Sirius’ whole face fell; if Dumo wasn’t so committed to making sure he got it right, he would’ve felt bad. “What do you do, Sirius?”
“Apolo—”
“No. People don’t respect those who apologize every time they face pushback.”
“But you said I need them to like me.”
“You need them to respect you. They don’t have to like you at all hours of the day.” He poked him lightly on the chest. “It’s your job to keep the team in line, now, and that means being a bit of a buzzkill sometimes. Not an asshole. Just a leader. What do you do if they start whispering about you?”
Sirius scrunched his nose. “Tell them to cut it out again,” he said grudgingly.
“And if they don’t?”
“Can I make them run laps after the meeting?”
“Yep. How many?”
“Three, because I had to ask three times.” He frowned. “And they should run at separate times, otherwise they’ll keep talking. God, they really don’t shut up, do they?”
That’s rich coming from you, Mr.-Chats-with-Pots-24/7. He decided to keep his thoughts to himself—that wasn’t what today was about. “Good job, Sirius.”
“Really?”
“Oui. If you lay down the rules early, you won’t have to keep correcting mistakes. They won’t want to disappoint you in the first place.”
“I don’t want to disappoint them,” he said quietly.
“You won’t.” If there was one thing Dumo was sure of, it was that Sirius would be the best captain the Lions ever had. “Ready for the toughest part?”
“Yes?”
“Are you ready?” he asked again.
Sirius swallowed, then nodded. “Yes.”
“I don’t like the way you’re captaining this team.”
From the look on his face, Dumo might as well have whacked him over the head with a spatula. “What?”
“I don’t think you have the guts.”
A combination of hurt and anger flashed in his eyes. “Hey!”
Dumo prodded him on the shoulder. “You’re not going to be able to stick up for yourself when it comes down to it. You can’t say no to your friends.”
“I can!”
“Then do it,” he challenged. “Tell me I’m wrong.”
“You’re—” Sirius pressed his lips together and stood up. “Fuck you. I came to you for help—”
Dumo rose as well, leaning forward half an inch. “Then tell me I’m wrong. Tell me you can captain the shit out of this team.”
“You’re wrong!”
“Say it like you mean it!”
“You’re wrong!” Sirius repeated as his jaw set, louder. “I’m going to captain the shit out of this team and fuck you for thinking I can’t!”
“But I don’t like it!” Though they were both shouting at each other, Sirius’ defensiveness and timidity in the face of conflict were nowhere to be found.
“That’s not my problem!” His cheeks were turning pink again, but not from the cold. “I’m the captain, so you either listen to me or tell me what the hell your problem is!”
“There you go!” Dumo cheered, stepping around the table to crush him in a hug. “That was perfect.”
Sirius went still with befuddlement. “What?”
“You didn’t believe you could captain this team until just now, did you?” He stepped back and held Sirius’ shoulders, beaming. “You just did exactly what you were supposed to do. You cannot let yourself be pushed around if you want to lead and keep your friendships strong. I am so, so proud of you.”
Sirius stared at him in shock for a moment, then moved forward again and rested his chin on Dumo’s shoulder as he pulled him in for another hug. “Thank you.”
“You are going to do great things, Sirius. I’m just glad I could help.”
“I couldn’t have done it without you.”
Dumo smiled and patted his back, giving him a squeeze. “Yes, you could. That’s how I know you will.”

You looked him in the eyes and you sighed, “I’m sorry, I do forgive you but I don’t think we can be anything more than friends at the moment. I’ll see you around.” You turned around and walked away, wondering if you did the right thing or not. Meanwhile, Sirius was frozen in place, he admit it could’ve gone a lot worse but it wasn’t what he hoped would happen. He was glad that you forgave him but he still had to prove he was serious about you. He wanted to show you that he liked you, in fact, he was probably falling in love with you. But he wasn’t going to give up, he’d get you to fall in love with him by the end of the year...
You stared up at the ceiling of your bed, lying on your back with your hands interlocked over your stomach. It was after hours but still just a Saturday which meant you didn’t have to worry about accidentally sleeping in for class the next morning. You were lying on top of your sheets in your gryffindor-themed pyjamas, thinking about the recent events in your life. The last day or two had been unlike any other. You couldn’t believe that Sirius had humiliated you in such a way. Every time you thought about how everyone pointed and stared and laughed at you, you felt like there was a lump in your throat, feelings of dread bubbling as you realised you would have to see those people again on Monday. You could see now that Sirius might have thought it was a harmless joke, but you were sick of being the butt of the joke all the time, you were sick of being someone people thought it was okay to point and laugh at. You didn’t want to be a laughing stock.
A tap on your shoulder brought you out of your thoughts and you turned your head to see Lily’s familiar red hair falling down her face and into your view. She gave you a sympathetic smile and lightly tapped your side twice with the back of her hand, a silent request for you to move over. You complied and watched as she lay down next to you, mimicking your position, though had her head tilted to face you, “I’m really sorry (Y/N), I know he’s a prat but I thought he would at least consider your feelings. I’ll talk to him if you want? Make sure he stays away from you.” You released a deep sigh and gave Lily a small smile, she was always looking out for you, “That’s okay, you don’t need to do that. I’ll be fine.” Lily’s eyes still held a considerable amount of concern, “Are you s-”
A loud snore interrupted Lily’s next words and the two of you looked over to the bed opposite yours where a fast asleep Molly Prewett lay, open-mouthed and messy ginger locks splayed all over her pillows. You and Lily shared a look before covering your mouths to muffle your laughs as not to wake the other girl. Lily rolled onto her side to give you a quick hug, “I’ll let you go to sleep now, you need to be rested if we’re going to do all our homework tomorrow like you promised.” You mentally groaned, you’d forgotten about that. You had at least six different pieces to complete by Wednesday, but Lily liked to do it all together with you, to make sure it wasn’t late. You gave her a smile and flicked your wand to shut your curtains, muffling the noise of Molly’s snoring to help you sleep. You turned over onto your side and let out a deep breath before closing your eyes and slowly drifting to sleep.
The next day, you’d tried your best not to think about Sirius and you’d been doing well, thanks to Lily and Molly. You had all sat together with a couple other girls in your year at breakfast so your view of the marauders gang was blocked and therefore, you had no reason to think about one of them in particular. As soon as breakfast had finished, you’d been dragged away to the library to uphold your promise. You moaned and complained about all the work you had to do but one stern look from Lily shut you up as she went over the instructions for the potions homework. You hadn’t been given an opportunity to think about anything else other than work when studying with Lily. You and Molly kept trying to make excuses for why you couldn’t do the work today, but Lily reminded you both that you agreed to do this with her. You put your hands together, elbows on the table, and whined, “Come on Lily, we’ve been doing this for 3 hours straight, can we please take a break?” Molly nodded along to your begging, adding, “Yeah, my hands all cramped up from writing so much, I need twenty minutes to get back some motivation.” Lily rolled her eyes, “Fine, 15 minutes, but not a second longer.” You grinned, perking up in your seat, “Yes!”
Amidst your victory, you hadn’t noticed four gryffindor students sneaking their way into the library, desperately avoiding the librarian, and making their way over the table next to your own until they were pushing their chairs in. Their table was coincidentally located behind a large bookshelf so the librarian wouldn’t be able to see the group sitting there. You tensed up and both Molly and Lily shot you worried looks but you shook your head, silently communicating with them to say that you were fine. You heard someone clearing their throat quietly but you didn’t look up, choosing to ignore whoever it was. Lily looked over Molly’s head to see James waving her over to them. She shook her head and crossed her arms, ignoring the defeated look on Potter’s face. She turned her attention back down to the parchment paper in front of her, sorting it all out into the different subjects.
Molly leaned over to whisper in your ear, “Reckon me and you should hex their arses into next week, filthy toads.” You gave her a look of mock disappointment, “That’s not nice, toads are much better company.” Molly snorted and you giggled under your breath. Sirius heard the sound and looked over in your direction, one hand on the back of his chair and on the table to turn his torso around to gaze at you. The sound of your laughter was like music to his ears and he only wished he was the one making you laugh instead. He wished for a lot of things when it came to you actually. He wished he could hold you in his arms, he wished he could kiss you, he wished he could sweep you off your feet, he wished you had the same feelings for him as he did for you. But of course, he couldn’t make those wishes come true and was having to settle for watching you from a distance. Remus, who was sitting next to Sirius, nudged him with his shoulder, “Cut it out, you’ve been staring for ages.” Sirius reluctantly turned back around in his chair, facing James and Peter. He huffed and sulked, looking down at the table as though it was responsible for all of the wrongdoings in his life. James scoffed at his friend’s attitude, “Why are you so hooked up on this girl? You’re Sirius Black, you don’t do relationships.” Sirius only sighed in response to James’ question. It was true, he’d never felt this way about a girl before, it had scared him at first, but every time he saw you, it made him excited and it felt like there were butterflies in his stomach trying to get out.
James and Remus shared a look with each other, if their friends was acting like this, then they knew it was serious. James pushed Peter onto his feet and told him to distract the librarian and when she saw him, she wasted no time in dragging the plump boy out by his ear, presumably to Dumbledore’s office. Sirius was oblivious as he still hadn’t taken his eyes off of you. You could feel his gaze on you and it was starting to make you feel uncomfortable, but not as much as when you saw James approaching your table. He pulled a chair up between you and Lily, resting his arms on the table, “Good morning ladies, now i believe we have to talk about the elephant in the room.” You tried not to laugh at the bored look on Molly’s face. James was unbothered by the silence and continued, turning to face you. “So, (Y/N), now that Sirius has apologised and all, what do you say you give my boy a chance huh? Don’t tell me you haven’t thought about being with the Sirius Black.” As much as you could appreciate how good of a friend James was being right now, you really wanted to punch him in the face. James flinched back and seemingly lost all his courage when he saw your face twist in anger. “I don’t care if he apologised, he embarrassed me in front of everyone. I was humiliated. How would you feel if everyone was pointing and laughing at you everywhere you went. I couldn’t even go into the common room without people whispering about me. I’m sick of being laughed at, so you go back and tell your friend that if he wants to come talk to me, then do it himself because if i hear his name come out of your mouth again, I’m going to hex you into next week.”
James slowly nodded his head, choking out, “Message received. I’ll leave you lot to it then.” He was only too eager to head back to the others and gave Sirius a sympathy tap on the shoulder, “Yeah, I wish i could say I helped but that would be a lie, you’re welcome anyway.” Sirius visibly drooped in his chair out of defeat and Remus pulled him onto his feet by the arm, “Come on lads, we should get a move on before she comes back, I don’t feel like having my ear yanked on today.” The trio left but Sirius kept his eyes on you until you were out of sight. James and Remus stood either side of him, James put his hand on Sirius’ shoulder, “Mate, you’ve got to get over her or do something about it. You can’t just be a creep and stare at her.” Remus scoffed, “‘Cause what you do to Lily is completely different.” James went silent so Remus grabbed his friend’s attention, “Why don’t you try getting her something she likes? Think of it like a peace offering before you talk to her again.” Sirius nodded along, “Yeah alright, thanks mate.”
Earlier in the evening, you had been walking back from the Great Hall on your own, but you didn’t quite mind it that much. Sometimes it was nice to have some alone time with your thoughts. It was a bit too cold to walk outside so you headed straight for the common room, sitting on a couch, staring at the fire. You sighed as you checked your watch, deciding to wait until Lily returned from whatever she was doing to go to bed. The portrait opened and you heard soft footsteps. Out of curiousity, you turned your head to look behind you to see Sirius with something in his hand. For a brief second the two of you made eye contact and your eyes widened as you quickly turned back around to pretend like you didn’t see him. When that brilliant plan failed and you heard him walking over to you, you winced and mentally cursed yourself for not going straight upstairs. To your surprise, he didn’t sit down next to you, instead stood by your side, a little far aways as to not be too close.
He was quieter than usual, which made you look up to see his mouth open as though he wanted to say something but he couldn’t get the words out. He looked nervous and almost worried and you couldn’t believe that the man before you was actually Sirius, this was so unlike him. You furrowed your brow in concern, “Are you okay?” The worry on your face was enough to snap him out of it and he gave you a small smile, looking down at the black box he held in his hands. It was square and not overly large but not very small either and neatly tied with a dark red ribbon complete with a bow on top. He fiddled with it as he spoke, “I wanted to apologise once more about.. you know what. It was wrong of me and I hope the two of us can begin to become friends again. This is for you, I wasn’t sure what you’d like but I saw these and thought of you and so..” he paused to catch his breath and you reached your hand out to place over his, giving him a half smile, “Friends?” you said. Sirius nodded in return, handing over the box, “Friends.” Once you held the box in your hands, you started to unwrap the bow on the top of the box. Out of the corner of your eye, you noticed how he couldn’t keep still as he anticipated your reaction. Carefully, you pulled the lid off and you let out a small gasp as you looked in the box. Inside were a beautiful pair of earrings that had a gold wire wrapped around a deep red crystal. They seemed to shimmer in the reflection of the fire and you were in awe.
You put them back in the box and turned to face him once more, “I can’t accept these, it’s too much.” Sirius stepped back out of your reach in protest, “You’ve already taken them.” You rolled your eyes, gesturing towards him with the box in your hand, “Stop it, just take them back, it’s too much I mean it.” Once more, he denied your request and firmly told you, “As your friend, I insist you keep them.” You sighed in defeat and slouched down back into your seat, “Oh alright.” Sirius grinned in victory, “I’m glad you like them, so I’ll see you around then, eh (Y/L/N)?” You shook your head but were secretly smiling to yourself, “Sure thing Black.” You heard his footsteps retreating and then ascending up the stairs to the boys dormitories. Now that you were pretty much alone again, you pulled out the earrings once more to admire them, holding them in your hands and you had to urge to bring them up to hold against your chest. You’d never received such a gift before, you loved them. Maybe he really didn’t mean to hurt your feelings?

Chlorine
A fluffy little one-shot for @efkgirldetective's summer of jily week two prompt: swimming with friends // Today we're younger than we're ever gonna be <3
“What in Merlin’s name is that smell?” gagged Sirius, bringing his towel up to cover his nose.
Mary swotted him with a bright green foam noodle. “That’s just the chlorine, you knob. It’s a chemical Muggles use to keep the water clean.”
“The water’s not clean?” squeaked Peter, his beady eyes widening.
“Take a look around Pettigrew,” laughed Mary, gesturing wildly. “There are about a trillion little kids running around with saggy trunks and juice-stained mouths, it’s not exactly the Prefect’s bathroom here.”
The group of teenagers took a moment to survey their surroundings. Sirius was right, the thick summer air reeked of chlorine wafting from unnaturally electric blue swimming pools, packed with screaming children, brightly colored floaties, and haggard parents. Behind the main pool, reaching up to the sky, stood two impressive slides, winding and bending in every direction before opening up into a smaller basin. Once every minute, the slide discarded a new, squealing child into the water with an eruptive splash.
Lily eyed the Muggle kids with some trepidation. “Are we too old to be here?” she asked, eyes shifting as she clutched her copy of Herbology for Potioneers a little closer to her chest. “It feels like everyone else is about a decade younger than us.”
“Don’t worry too much about that, Evans,” said James, a bright smile aimed in her direction. “Today we’re younger than we’re ever going to be, anyway!” He nudged her affectionately, resulting in a rosy hue that spread across her cheeks as their bare shoulders made contact.
“Alright,” announced Remus after barely dodging a rogue beach ball, “let’s find a place to put our towels before these buggers realize we’re easy targets.”
They managed to snag a row of plastic lounge chairs beside the wave pool to dump their belongings on before Sirius set his sights on the towering waterslides across the park.
“You said these slides were crazy fast, right MacDonald?” Sirius asked, a dangerous gleam in his eye.
“They’re the fastest in Britain,” grinned Mary, tossing her sunnies aside. “And you get some serious air on your way out, it’s the closest thing Muggles have to flying, I’d argue.”
Lily tensed and quickly diverted her attention to her book, though her eyes remained still as she stared at the pages. Almost no one noticed her sudden discomfort.
“That’s bloody brilliant,” grinned Sirius. “Last one to the top has to buy us a round of those mushie drinks.”
“They’re called slushies, Padfoot.”
“Call them whatever you want, Moony, but I want a blue one.” Sirius discarded his t-shirt onto a chair and kicked off his sandals in preperation. “Prongs, do you think we could convince the lifeguards to let us go down the slides together?”
But James wasn’t paying attention to Sirius. “Nah, go ahead without me,” he said, eyes trained on Lily as she continued intently staring at her book. “I think I’m gonna start out a little slower with the lazy river. Evans, care to keep me company?”
Lily’s eyes snapped up to see Sirius’ dropped jaw, Mary’s raised eyebrows, and James’ steady smile.
“Oh,” she said, her voice finding a higher octave than usual, “sure, I could join you.”
“Fine,” grumbled Sirius, pulling the others along with him, “but I’m coming to find you at that dopey river after our first round on the slides. I won’t let you be boring all day, Prongs.”
James shrugged, barely paying the others any mind as he extended a hand to Lily. She watched their friends saunter off before accepting his help to stand up.
“Hold on there, Evans,” said James, plucking her book from her hands and tossing it back onto their pile of towels, “I can’t have you doing homework; today is all about having fun!”
“Then why aren’t you going with the others to the slides?”
He paused, considering her question with a smile. “Because you’re way more fun than a couple of waterslides.”
Before she had a chance to respond, James pulled her away from the chairs and towards the center of the park, their bare feet slapping against sizzling cement as they navigated around young children and indifferent lifeguards.
The lazy river lived directly across from the concession stand, perfectly situated for parents who wanted to keep an eye on their floating kids while they enjoyed a cool beer and a basket of hot chips. The river wound itself around an impressive structure resembling a fairytale castle, complete with canons that sprayed water onto passerbys and waterfalls that poured over plastered mountainsides and into its surrounding moat.
At the water’s edge sat a pile of tubes, growing hot under the unrelenting midday sun. James released Lily’s hand to secure them two floats, missing her subtle disappointed huff at the loss of his grip when he turned his back on her. But by the time he handed over her tube, she’d managed to rearrange her face into a neutral smile.
“After you, Evans,” he said with a little bow, extending an arm towards the gently rolling river.
She rolled her eyes at the exaggerated chivalry, but stepped forward nonetheless, carefully placing her tube in the water and lowering herself into the center. The water, cool and refreshing, lapped against her backside and kissed her heels as she hung her legs over the tempered rubber.
James took a different approach, choosing to throw his own tube unceremoniously into the water before giving himself a running start to cannonball onto it. Lily screeched as he nearly jumped directly on top of her.
“You prat!” she laughed, splashing water on his face, covering his glasses in little droplets.
“You know you love me,” he teased, a glint in his eye.
The pink glow that spread across her cheeks could have passed as a light sunburn, but the way James’ eyes flashed suggested he’d picked up on the truth. His dimples appeared despite the attempt to keep his grin at bay.
“So, Potter,” she started, choosing to change the subject, “what drew you to the lazy river, other than the obvious similarities you share?”
James drove an imaginary dagger into his chest. “You wound me, Evans! But if you must know, I thought it’d be the perfect place to chat with you.”
If the river’s current hadn’t continued pulling them along, Lily might have thought time had stood still. “To chat?”
“Yeah,” he responded as though it were obvious, “the playground would be too noisy with all the kids running around, it seems like we would’ve spent more time underwater than above it at the wave pool, and the hot tubs are simply not weather appropriate.”
“With me?”
It was finally James’ turn to look surprised. “Of course! I’ve spent my whole summer mucking about with the boys, but I’ve hardly seen you since Peter’s party and I missed talking with you.”
Lily tried passing off her pleased burst of laughter as a scoff. “I always forget how forthright you are.”
“I’m an open book,” he replied, sticking her with a pointed stare she couldn’t see as she averted her own gaze, attempting to hide her growing blush he had already clocked.
“I wish I could be more like that,” she spoke to the distance, to the cloudless expanse of sky, hoping it would relay the message to the boy whose intertube continued bouncing rhythmically against her own as they traveled in endless circles.
“As a kid,” she continued, “I loved playgrounds. Gravity melted away when I sailed off swings and soared through slides, when my magic took over before I even knew what I was. But the uncontrollable flying always scared my parents, so when my family visited parks, I’d be kept on the sidelines, hidden away to avoid causing a scene. I guess I got pretty good at hiding.”
“Do you want help practicing?”
Lily jerked her attention back to James and his easy eyes, his ruffled hair. “What?”
“Do you want help practicing being an open book?” he repeated simply. “I happen to be an expert and I’d be happy to lend my talents.”
His cheeky grin earned him a light splashing and an only-slightly-exasperated huff. “You know what, fine. Teach me your ways, Potter.”
“Alright,” he said, eyes brightening as he adjusted his position on his tube to face her more fully, “we’ll start with easy questions and then get gradually harder from there. The only rule is that you have to answer honestly.”
Lily sunk slightly into the hole of her intertube, but nodded, resting her chin on her folded arms, fingers mindlessly dipping in and out of the passing water below.
“First off, who is your best friend?”
“That’s your easy question?” Lily guffawed.
“What?” asked James, watching her curiously. “I already know the basics. Your favourite colour is forest green, you like chocolate biscuits best, and your sister is a piece of work. Now, who is your best friend?”
“Mary, I guess?” said Lily, brows furrowed slightly. “We immediately clicked since we first met, what with us both being Muggleborn, and after Sev was out of the picture…”
“I’m familiar with this part,” James grimaced, his focus shifting to his fingernails. “So, next question. If you had to be sorted into a different house, which one would you choose?”
“Hufflepuff,” she responded without blinking. “Closest to the kitchens, obviously. Next question.”
“Respectable,” he chuckled. “How about… do you prefer Butterbeer or Firewhiskey?”
She paused, catching his eye for longer than she’d planned. “You probably already know the answer.”
The corner of his mouth twitched upwards with a jolt of hope. “Butterbeer spiked with Firewhiskey?”
“Butterbeer spiked with Firewhiskey.”
James leaned forward slightly, his arm extending absentmindedly to reach for the cloth handles on Lily’s tube to pull her closer. “Like the ones we made at Peter’s birthday party last month?”
Their hands mingled together in the water between their tubes, pruned fingers brushing against each other as the current pushed them together. “Exactly like the ones from Peter’s birthday.”
He was near enough to count every sunkissed freckle spattered across her nose. She could practically fall into his growing dimples.
“Oi, Prongs!” came the disappointing voice of Sirius Black from the concession stand’s picnic tables. “You can’t hide from us all day, mate!”
“Maybe not,” James called back, a lopsided smirk sliding across his face, “but I can try!”
Before Sirius had a chance to respond, James sunk through the center of his intertube and disappeared under the water’s surface. Lily peered into the river, wondering if he could have possibly brought his Invisibility Cloak with him to the park, but her thoughts were quickly interrupted when a hand grabbed her ankle under the water. It tugged lightly, willing her out of her tube and into the depths of the lazy river.
Once fully submerged in the water, Lily squinted her eyes open to see her new surroundings, blue like the sky with ripples of sunlight refracting through the flowing stream, circular shadows overhead from the tubes they left on the surface, roaming away like drifting clouds searching for different horizons. A hand found her arm and spun her around, bringing her face to face with James, his glasses attempting an escape into the river’s flow, tiny air bubbles escaping through his nose and growing smile.
He pulled her across the width of the river, through a shower of bubbles from the underside of a waterfall, and into still water again before finally leading them both to the surface. They broke back into the world with gasping breaths and laughter, finding themselves in a dark, quiet alcove behind one of the castle’s waterfall features. The lazy river continued on as they stood together in their hidden cave, separated only by a wall of tumbling water. Despite no longer being pulled by the river’s current, the two found themselves drifting closer and closer to one another.
“Do you have any more questions?” asked Lily, her whisper echoing around and joining in with the soft roar of the waterfall.
James tried to control the beating of his heart, which must have been reverberating all around their little retreat based on how loudly he heard it pounding in his ears.
He cleared his throat. “Did you want me to kiss you that night at Peter’s party?”
She inhaled sharply. “Yes. Next question.”
“Do you want me to kiss you now?”
“Yes.”
She barely got the word out before James’ lips found hers, crashing down like a wave against the shore, pulling them into a riptide of racing hearts, fluttering eyelashes, and sighing breaths. They kissed and kissed and kissed until their heads spun, either drunk off the thrill of new beginnings or thoughts of Firewhiskey-spiked Butterbeer. Or possibly it was the intoxicating combination of magic mixed with chlorine.

Thank you very much for taking the time to do this, Mia! You can find her on ao3!
1. What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
God I really have no clue! I really enjoy writing silly sass/ banter between couples in love. Not that that is very extraordinary, lol, but it’s one of the things I do? For example this is in my latest chapter of A Little Risk
Sirius: “Please consider it, we could move abroad, go anywhere we like.”
Remus: “Oh yes? And do what?”
Sirius: “Make love, grow vegetables, plant flowers, ride horses?”
Remus: “Do you even know what an un-chopped vegetable looks like?”
I also like writing fluff and angst juxtapositioned in the same chapter, I think it makes the reading more poignant somehow, because life is often a bit like that, bittersweet?
2. What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your stories?
That I really love cliffhangers, that I love making people laugh and cry and that I keep borrowing from real life examples for my dialogues etc. The most surprising I suppose was that when I was writing my canon marauders fic We Can Be Heroes, I decided to model Pettigrew’s character traits on a guy we were friends with in college who we thought was a really nice, a very funny mimic and good friend but ended up being a homophobic plonker who we are no longer friends with. After I had written it, I found out some really dark info about this guy that made me think did I subconsciously realise he was even worse than I thought or… anyway, it was actually creepy.
3. Do you have any suggestions to help others become a better writer? If so, what are they?
Just practice writing and it definitely gets easier? It is without doubt the best way to improve and feel more confident (I am not saying I am brilliant, I am just better than I was, lolol!!). Also getting someone to beta your fics is really helpful because sometimes they will give you better ideas or suggest changes? And don’t be too hard on yourself, writing is supposed to be fun, so trying to be perfect is too stressful and unhelpful, I think.
4. What do you think makes a good story?
A story where you care about the characters, and that makes you feel things, and transports you to another place.
5. What is the first book that made you cry?
Probably a fairy tale, I was a softie!
6. Does writing energize or exhaust you?
It energises me but I need time to do it because when I write I often have to re-read the chapter I am writing in order to get back into the feel of the story so I have to set aside a few hours ideally, to get a chunk done?
7. Have you ever gotten reader’s block? If so, what are your tips to overcome it?
Yes I have and my favourite tip is: write the scene you want to write even if it isn’t in sequence or even in the chapter you are trying to write, very often ideas will come to you about other parts of the story/chapter and leave the ones you have zero ideas for till last.
8. Do you think someone could be a writer if they don’t feel emotions strongly?
Very good question! I think yes, because it depends what type of story you are trying to tell? Some stories are not very emotive. On the whole though, I find it really helps to have strong emotions for your characters, both the heroes and villains! In the same way that actors often experience strong emotions and think it helps them act?
9. If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?
As I have only been writing for about 3 years, I think I would say - This is a great coping strategy for dealing with shit! Stick to it and you will not only find this useful but make lovely friends along the way ;)))
10. What was your hardest scene to write?
Writing canon 1981, especially the scene in It's Not the Cold that Seeps into his Bones where Sirius finds the Potters after Voldemort kills James and Lily… broke me!
11. What is your favorite childhood book?
The Lord of The Rings, although I was nearly 18 by the time I read it? When I was growing up I read so many books I drove my parents bonkers.
12. How long on average does it take you to write a one shot or a chapter of a fic?
One shots can be 1-3 hours; a chapter of a fic is much longer because I am a disaster and tend to write 6-9K chapters!! That can take me a month to write because I am very busy at work and home so little time to write!
13. A fic that inspires you?
Ooooh that is a hard one! I think Alright, Evans was the canon Jily fic that inspired me to write We Can Be Heroes because I was so devastated that it was never finished?
14. How do you edit your work?
Mostly by myself (ie post it then re-read it and find lots of mistakes?? But for my current WIP, A Little Risk @purplechimera8 has been an incredible beta and I am very grateful to him xxx
15. Where does inspiration come from?
It depends - for my medical marauders au there was quite a lot of irl self-inserts, for A Little Risk I just really wanted to write a kind of fascist punching 1930s fic with a Downton Abbey vibe, but make it murder?? For the Jily and Wolfstar fics the inspiration is mostly “canon is dead, they all lived”
16. Who has been helpful for you as you write for the fandom?
SO MANY PEOPLE!!! I can start with @joyseuphoria , for being a complete dote? But really a lot of very kind generous people from @elanev91 @alrightginger @petalstofish and @araniaexumae @nobotherstoday @therealrjlupin @jencala @of-stars-and-moon @stonecoldhedwig @purplechimera8 @thefeartakeshold @nisargasinha to name a few when I started off to more recently the wonderful @mollymarymarie @rory-byanyothername @unfortunatelyimaginary @jamesandthedog @moonpuup @the-gray-lady @raissassampaio @startanewdream @aeridi0nis @justfinishthis @corinnesamuels @midnightelite @constancezin @cwoissants and all the kindest pals on the Jily and Wolfstar discords, and the under 18s Jily discord too? I am sorry I have left out a lot of really sweet people :(((
17. What is your fav POV to write from?
So hard to know!! I actually can’t choose between Lily, James, Sirius and Remus. Teenage James’ POV is the one that makes me smile the most because he is such an oblivious, pining, lovable idiot??
18. What is a fic you would love to write but are worried you won’t be able to accomplish it/nervous it wouldn’t work out?
I have no idea, I have no fear (lmao!!) - time wise, I would love to do a North of Ireland fic with Protestant!James and Catholic!Lily but I am so busy atm I’m not sure I can write another long WIP when I finish this one?
19. Do you ever self insert in fics?
ALL the time. This conversation in A Little Risk is verbatim from convo between Mr Blithering and me:
Sirius Black pulled back momentarily, a look of desperation flitting across his features for a split second.
“Forget about the investigation. Resign.”
“I see, and do what then? Look decorative?”
“You do look excessively ornamental, I will admit.”
20. What is the story you are proudest of?
My canon marauders with a better ending fic We Can Be Heroes I love how it turned out and I love my ending loads!
21. Do you prefer writing canon jily or muggle au?
Both?? I mean canon jily has a special place in my heart because of WCBH, but I love the worlds in muggle AUs, and the medical marauders fic was such a blast to write, being able to put in stuff I care about like mental health etc?
Thank you for these lovely questions xoxoxo
Thank you for doing this!

Little Secrets - pt. 3
Tumblr media
A/N: I had been writing this for days but I really love the idea of where this is going. Lol. Also, I would like to thank @barkermarkersharker for the lovely idea that I just had to use. Also, this will be more than a three part I guess.
XX
Your father has been dragging James on all sorts of social gatherings all week. He has been excited but also exhausted. He had come home only to eat and sleep, except on Wednesday. That day he went hiking with Sirius before collapsing into his bed.
A rough week for James Potter but it was Saturday and he will soon be home. Sirius and you had been getting along well. You haven't been holding any sort of grudge towards James but you had your moments where you mentioned some sort of remark of the whole keeping you a secret thing.
Now that he is free this week, he can finally help you and Sirius bond.
He came home with a smile on his face, excited that his week of torture was over. He dropped his bag on the hall and ran up stairs. He barged into his room to find Sirius but he was nowhere in sight. He than ran into your room and you weren't there either.
His brows furrowed, his lips turned down and he ran back to the kitchen. "Hey mum." he said as he gave her a kiss on the cheek and grabbed a fry from the bowl. "Where are Sirius and (y/n)?" he asked, sitting down on the chair and looking at the porch, thinking he will maybe see them there.
"Well, they're at the beach, honey." his mum said, furrowing an eyebrow at him. "I thought they told you?"
"No." he replied, a bit disappointed at the answer.
"Well, it was all last minute. (Y/n) woke up earlier than usual and at breakfast both with Sirius decided to go to the beach with some of her friends." she smiled, thinking to that morning. "You and your father were already gone but you two should have seen them together. We were all laughing so hard this morning. They even invited me to come but I said no because what would me be doing there at the beach with all them youngsters." she continued to smile brightly. "They were both so persistent that I really thought they wanted me to come- do you think there could actually happen something between them?" she asked out of curiosity, looking at James.
James however, choked on his fry and started to cough. "What?"
"Sirius and (Y/N). They seem to get along so great. Like they're meant for each other and I wouldn't mind Sirius becoming my son in law. And imagine what gorgeous babies would they have together."
"Oh! Mom!"James stood up, laughing but feeling horrible inside. "Please, stop. (Y/n) is not a wizard and Sirius is. Even if they do get along, they are both meant to live in two completely different world." he started to get a bit agitated, pouring himself a glass of lemonade.
"We all live in two different world, James. If it wasn't for (y/n), your father and I and you wouldn't know about certain, amazing things about Muggles."
"Yeah but!" he turned around, raising his tone and opening his arms to explain something he couldn't even explain to himself yet. "No. No... they're not..."
"I think there is something between them." your mother smiled, meanwhile James only glared at her. "You don't get along with a person that well and think of it as just friendship."
But you liked girls! - James wanted to scream but knew he couldn't have outed you to his parents. You've always preferred girls over guys, anyway. He only remembers one guy from your whole life that you had had an interest in. All the others were girls.
You can't with Sirius. He's... and you are just not right for each other. Just not!
Your mother could see the injustice James felt in his bones right now. He was frustrated with the idea of you and Sirius together. She tried soothe the tension in the air, turning to James and telling him. "Why don't you go to the beach as well? Meet (y/n)'s friends."
"I already know them mum." he pouted.
"You know of them, James. There's a difference. There's nothing wrong with having Muggle friends."
"I know it's just... what am I supposed to tell them if I can't mention magic at all? Like what do Muggles even talk about?"
"There is more to life than just magic, James." was all what your mother said back.
---
James didn't dress much to the beach, since it was quite windy, as per usual. He wore his usual white jeans with a brown belt, white T-shirt and a jean T-shirt blouse with rolled sleeves. He was walking through the beach to find you and Sirius but the two of you were running around like two wild beasts, laughing so loud he could spot you from a mile away.
You were piggy back riding Sirius and he was running from towards a small group of friends. There were another couple, racing the two of you.
The two of you obviously ran. If Sirius was anything athletic, he was fast. That boy ran from every single Prefect, Head Boy, Head Girl, Professor, wolf-Remus, odd forest monsters and Filch in that school. Of course, the two of you won.
He threw himself, and you, on the blanket, both rolling and laughing as well as cheering.
"HELL YEAH!" you raised your palms in the air as Sirius high-fived them both.
"Why are you panting? I was the one carrying you and running."
"Hey, this was a two people effort. I was your moral support up there." you smiled and all of you laughed before Sirius eyes darted to the approaching figure and his smile suddenly fell, then rised up again.
You turned to look and saw your brother approaching the whole lot of you with a faint smile.
"BROTHER!" you jumped to your feet and ran towards him.
"Don't hug me! Don't hug me!" he started to avoid you by running backwards and putting his hand up. "Stay away from this fit."
"Really?" you glowered at him, then kicked sand at him.
"You rat!" he shouted and started to chase you, grabbing you around the waist and lifting you up.
"PUT ME DOWN! NO! NOOOO!!!" you screamed and laughed at the same time because you knew what he was about to do. "You'll wet your shoes!"
"Not if I throw you." he laughed.
"You don't have the strength."
"But I have magic." he grinned and you gasped.
"You prat! You wouldn't."
"Ready?"
"Please don't. DON'T! JAMES!!" he was getting closer to the water, laughing.
"You'll get to clean the dishes for the whole month and the bathroom when it's my turn."
"A WHOLE MONTH?!" you exclaimed. "Hell no! Throw me into the sea. I don't care." you stopped resisting and he let out a laugh, taking a few steps forward and just dropping you into shallow water.
---
You had returned back, completely wet and cold. You grabbed the extra blanket from the ground and plopped yourself down, glaring at him.
"I will murder you when we come home and I will bury you next to Minki."
"Then you'll really have to clean the dishes and bathroom every month."
"I don't care." you turned your head dramatically, before laughing with him.
"Here." said James and gave you his red sweater.
"Thanks." you said ,grabbing it, taking your wet shirt off and putting it back on, later taking off your soaked bra under it. "Thank God, it's summer." you praised under your breath, leaning back on your arm and looking around, seeing both of your friends making googly eyes at your brother.
"So how was the meeting Jamie?"
"Dull." James mimicked your position. "Sooner than later, you realise that all the gatherings and the meetings and the parties have the same system. Talk about old friends and family first, turn to business and end with something like; we'll keep in touch."
"You had your fun then." Sirius smiled but looked at you when he did.
"Any lassies you caught your eye on?" you asked, looking at your friends from the corner of your eye.
"If you didn't come with dad on these gatherings, what makes you think other lassies did?"
"A question, brother. No need to get fussy about it." you said as you wanted to change the subject but Sirius caught you to it.
"OH MERLIN! A PIG!" he shouted and got on his feet. "It's a pig!" he started to jump excitedly.
"Sirius don't you even think about it..." you said but he was already running towards it, scooping the baby pig into his arms and starting to pet it. An old man approached him and the next thing you knew, Sirius was giving the man money, over-excited for the little pink being in his arms.
He ran back to the group and lifted the animal in his arms. "I got a pig!" he said like a little boy who had got himself his first toy.
"Oh my, God."
---
"I like the name Arnold." you said as you continued to pet the little pig next to Sirius, cooing at him.
"For the thousandth time. HER name is Treasure."
"I'll call you Arnold." you said at the pig as it smiled at you and bumped her nose at your fingers.
"Treasure!" he pulled the pig closer and kissed her forehead. "Don't you listen to her, Treasure. She wasn't the one who took you in, she doesn't get to name you." he glowered at you and you stuck your tongue out at him.
Meanwhile James was walking behind the two of you this whole time. Your mother was right. The two of you did get along great, even better than usual and he felt excluded from his two best friends.
And the worst part was that the two of you didn't even notice it. The two of you didn't notice how miserable he was- that was such a selfish thought. He should be happy that the two of you were getting along.
He was arguing with his mind.
"So, Jamie!" you ran back to him and wrapped your arm around his. "You are the tie-breaker. Arnold or Treasure?"
James let out a laugh. "How about Mum-will-kill-you-two?"
"Don't be buzz kill, Prongs. It's Treasure because I had found her and she is the biggest treasure in my life."
"He's turning into mum." James whispered to you but loud enough for Sirius to hear him and narrow his eyes at the two of you.
"Oh, darn. Dad's got two of them now." you started to joke.
"Hope Euphemia won't get jealous." James continued as the two of you snickered.
"Dad's gonna go bankrupt. Has to buy another ring. Should we call you mother now, Sirius?" you raised an eyebrow at him.
He put the pig down and pointed at the you and James. "Treasure. Attack!"
But Treasure just sat on her bum and gave Sirius googly eyes.
"Awww!" he scooped her back up and waddled her. "We should go shopping tomorrow." he smiled at the two of you. "I want Treasure to keep up with fashion."
"Buying her a leather jacket and a curly, black hair wig?"
"Don't you listen to her. You've got pretty pink hair." he kissed her forehead and went into the house.
"You have some weird friends, Jamie." you shook your head.
"They're not weird. It's just him... that's a bit extra..."
"I can still hear the two of you! I am NOT extra!"
---
James has become more fond od Treasure through the evening. He was sitting on his bay window, looking through at the distance where the field stretched into the distance. Treasure was lightly snoring in his lap as his hand was caressing her tiny head into sweeter dreams.
Treasure started to breathe a bit harder during her sleep, so James lightly opened the window and let the summer breeze wash over her. It was almost as that little pig's mouth curved into a thankful smile. Despite the fact how much everybody disagreed on the pig becoming part of the family, James was really thankful for this lovely little being in his lap. He always had a feeling about animals. Even Minki, his mother's old cat, seemed to crawl onto his chest when he was laying and purr over his heart. Mother said it was a miracle because Minki never liked anybody, not even your father or you but through the years, she got a bit softer for everybody.
"Tell me what's on your mind and I'll tell you what's on mine?" James heard Sirius say from the outside.
His attention wavered from the pig to the voices bellow him. He completely forgot his room is right above the porch but he didn't intend to listen.
He heard you laugh and then stop to pause. He knew that pause. "You know today was the first day I saw James jealous of me." you let out a laugh and James furrowed his eyebrows at your statement.
"I wasn't jealous." he whispered to himself. "Was I jealous?" he asked the sleeping pig on his lap, than thought back to today and concluded. "I was maybe a wee jealous."
"How do you know he was jealous?" Sirius asked and you smiled with a roll of your eyes.
"It doesn't take a mind reader to see this." you snorted, than pulled yourself on the fence as you usually did. "Plus whenever he's having angry thoughts the space between his eyebrows furrow and he looks extremely tense. I keep telling him that that is his tell but he never listens."
You were right. You do always tell him about his little tells but he just does them subconsciously.
"I remember before I turned eleven, James would constantly make me jealous by telling me about magic. How he started showing his magic abilities when he was seven and I was ten but didn't even show a tad of it." you started and your voice started to quiver a bit. It was when you started to show your rawest side. You didn't much open up to anybody but when you did, you really went into the most deepest parts of yourself. "When we found out I was a Squib, James stopped with the whole teasing but it was too late, you know? He had already told me about Hogwarts and given me such expectations to be sorted into the same house as him or a Hufflepuff. He loved Hufflepuffs... and I remember crying when Dumbledore told me and my parents that I can attend Hogwarts for magical knowledge but will never be able to preform it. I can never forget the disappointment in my father's eyes. He was so shocked that I was a Squib, it was his reaction that made me cry so hard that day." you continued, speaking in a calm, controlled voice. "I didn't want to stand out in Hogwarts so I said I don't want to. James told me I could still go to Muggle schools and become more magical and successful even if I'm not a wizard and that gave me hope." you smiled and James mathed your smiled from another room, still listening. "Though it always bugged me- the whole Squib thing. We came from such a powerful wizarding family and I was the one who got born without it."
"It happens even to the best of families, (y/n)." Sirius tried to reason but you only smiled. "It happened to my family as well... but... she married a Muggle so... it sort of made sense..."
"Exactly. Both of my parents come from powerful families, that's why it didn't make sense to me and I couldn't understand why nobody did any more research. They all just accepted it."
"But you didn't?"
"No. I didn't." you replied determined. "It didn't make sense to me. It was like a whole family line with black eyes and black hair and black skin existed and all of a sudden a ginger with blue eyes and fair light skin was born to that family. And I know it happens in family but not in this family, you know?" you tried to explain. "And I know James and I are different from each other, thank God. It makes sense because my father's side of the family are all alike, which is from whom James takes it from but my mother's side is diverse, that's why our physical features are so different. Genes. Those genes make sense but magical genes? Wizards marrying wizards in my family and it just didn't make sense to me. I couldn't let it go."
"The stubborn gene." Sirius tried to joke and James snorted at his comment.
"I was always jealous of James. I just never showed it but then I was in London with my friends- it was a school trip- and there was this psychic."
"Oh no."
"I know what you're thinking but let me explain!"
"Muggle Psychics are such a skam."
"Let me explain you broom flying shit."
"Alright. No need to get mean." Sirius backed off, meanwhile James was holding his laughter in the other room.
"Psychics feed off an energy and vibrations. Yes, some are skammers but there was something different with this woman. When we locked eyes through the window, I got this odd shiver down my spine and something about her eyes... it felt so real...
'++ You were standing in front of store and it felt like it was only you and the store in this world. Your friends were nowhere by but that was the last thing on your mind. You had been there and the store and the mere nothingness of the world.
You opened the door, they jingled and spread an odd athmosphere on your body. You didn't know whether you felt anxious or free. Perhaps the feeling of freedom gave you a bit of anxiety as well.
"Come in, child." you heard a voice from another room and before you even took a step, she was already in sight.
She was leaning on the wall, dipping her tea bag into the boiling water. She wasn't like those psychics the television represents. She wore a long dress that was tight around her waist. She was in a nice form and you couldn't figure out whether she was 30 or 40.
"I'm 52." she answered your question before giving you a pleasant smile with beautiful teeth and making her way into another room. "I know, I don't look like it much but that's the power of magic." she continued to say, poking her head out of the room and grinning. "But you would know everything about that, wouldn't you?"
You felt something swallow you but you gathered your thoughts quickly. "Unicorns, fairies... all of them live in my backyard, yes." you said as you also made your way to the room, letting your hand brush the colourful crystals hanging on a silver chains.
"They're all around you, you know?" she smiled and you furrowed your eyebrow at you. "Fairies I mean but they only appear if they want to, that's why you've never seen them. They don't want to appear."
"Alright?" you sounded doubtful.
"Come on, sit."
And you sat.
She sat across from you and opened her hands on the table. "Go on. Give me your hands. You didn't walk in here just to stare at me."
And as soon as you gave her your hands, you felt this magnetic pull towards this woman. It was something you gave her and it was something she gave you back.
Her eyes were closed but the way her lips pursed together and eyebrows furrowed, you knew she was a bit confused. "Oh dear..." she mumbled under her breath but regained her posture and mind. "What we're doing right now are exchanging energies darling. The Universe is responding to it, giving me a download. Whether you believe in the Universe, the energies, vibrations or the Law of Attraction, it does exist. You cannot fight it. It simply exists." she continued to explain and you listened. "Your inner child is in need of healing- I see you still haven't moved on from something that had caused a massive change in your childhood..." she opened her eyes a bit. "Magic?"
"I... I don't have magic."
"Oh, honey. You don't need to move a feather to have magic." she gave you a loving, caring smile. "We all hold magic inside of us. You just have to believe in it."
And it was in the way she spoke that she gave you a large amount of hope. All the anxiety was gone- as if it never existed. You just wanted to stay in there forever.
"I also see you've been troubling yourself with a question for a long time and I'm here to give you an answer..." ++'
"What did she say?!" Sirius exclaimed in anticipation. He was really invested in this whole story, meanwhile you had to take a moment to breathe.
"Well... in the beginning when she said "Oh, dear..." she was referring to the black magic I carried inside all these years." you tried to smile but it squeezed your heart. "I don't have it anymore. I washed it off a year ago but what really made me upset was that if I washed it before I turned eleven, I could be a witch myself." you looked up, trying to show him that you weren't affected by talking about this, though clearly you were.
"What do you mean?"
"When my nana was alive, on my mother's side, she always forbid people to come when mother was pregnant with James and when James was just a baby. When they did come, she would sage the house and search it from head to toe because people could have left omens or something that would do something to a child. Despite the fact that she was a wizard, she was extremely superstitious. At least, that's what mum told me. It annoyed her a bit." you paused. "She died not long after James was born and before I was conceived and Nora, the psychic told me that nana has been protecting both of us from the other world but she couldn't protect me in this world like she had done with James."
"Meaning what? Somebody did black magic on you?" Sirius furrowed his eyebrows meanwhile James was listening up there, just as confused.
"Nora talks to the spirits, and she talked to nana. Nana said that my father's auntie was the one, attempting to put black magic on James but was unsuccessful. Then tried again with me... bringing a whole tea set as a present and Nora said that teas have an enormous power, whether we know it or not. It can heal you but it can also sicken you- herbs an all."
"Yeah, I know. I've been taking Herbology with agony but still listened to it."
"The tea set was cursed and whenever my mother drank from it I would consume the black magic that came with it. It created a blockage for my magic and when I turned eleven, it finally did its job by never letting me use magic at all." you smiled but a tear rolled down your face. "She told me I could still have magic, you know? If I removed the black magic, I'd remove the blockage but there was a catch."
"What?"
"I'd become an Obscurial." you looked at him and his eyes dawned with a loss of hope. "I know, I was disappointed as well. I didn't want ot be an Obscurial and I had already created the Muggle life, accepted it and loved it- so I gave up on magic. I didn't want that kind of magic. I wasn't desperate like I was when I was a kid but still it hurt.- She told me how to get rid of the black magic completely and I had followed every step. I felt lighter afterwards, like something has been lifted off my shoulders. I didn't know I was carrying something so heavy all my life but I felt fantastic after it."
"Did you tell your parents or James?"
"No." you shook your head. "I didn't want to burden them with this knowledge and they already accepted the whole Squib part of me and I got closure as well... knowing that I wasn't picked out of the family. I was just a wee unfortunate." you smiled, looking up at the stars. "Nana said through Nora that she'll always protect us- all of us and she told me that I should try to find my own magic in the world, how special I was and all of those things. Some days, I really do feel like she's with me. Sometimes when we eat together or the days I sit here and look up at the stars." you laughed. "It sounds a bit crazy but-"
"No...it doesn't." Sirius said as he took your hand in his, smiling at this magnificent woman in front of you.
James already closed the window. He couldn't believe what he just heard. He knew your father's auntie was a bit odd but to do black magic on her own family is just fucked up.
He needed to know something. He needed to go to the attic.
Meanwhile you and Sirius were still on the porch. Still so wonderfully living among the stars. You jumped down from the fence and leaned back. Whenever he would touch you, you felt a rush of emotions go through you- those anxious butterflies banding together in your stomach and trying to burst free. Your cheeks would heat up... and whenever Sirius was close, this close, you would even get afraid of what he might do next.
Flirting was one thing for you; fun and easy but when it came to real feelings, that was when you were a complete mess.
Sirius was standing close to you but he didn't touch you. "All that talk about energies..." he started, breathing a bit heavily as he was getting closer to you. "Does that mean we exchange it too?"
"Yeah." you replied with shallow breathing.
"And when I touch you like this..." he said, taking a hold of your hand and lifting it up a bit, interlocking his fingers with you, then looking deep into your eyes. "Do you feel it?"
"I feel it..." you replied, staring into his lips, marvelling at their beauty as your whole body would pulse.
"And now?" he asked, placing his other hand on your hip and pushing you gently on the wooden pillar.
"Uh..." you swallowed thickly as your heart rate started to beat abnormally. "I feel you..."
He pressed his forehead onto yours and started to close the gap between your lips. "Good..." he growled a little and pressed his lips onto yours. His body, hot, pushing you against the pillar, meanwhile his hand on your hip squeezed you tightly, releasing a pleased whimper from your lips. His strong arms would wrap themselves under your thighs and lift you up until they were wrapped around his waist. His kisses deep and passionate caused your head to swirl. Your fingers dug into his curls and tugged on a little, causing a satisfied smile to appear on his lips.
He would pull away for a moment, gaze into your eyes than to your every feature. He would start to remove your hair from your cheek, just to take a closer look at you. You were amazed by his strength. He was holding your whole body weight with one hand that it only made you feel more attracted to the man.
Than before you knew it, something fell on the floor in the living room, making the both of you jump and look who had just caught you.
"Oh, bloody hell!!" Sirius gasped. "Treasure, what the hell?" he looked at the pig as the pig happily jumped towards him.
"I think she's a bit jealous." you giggled, meanwhile Sirius scooped the little being into his arms.
"Does this look jealous to you?" he turned her towards you and the pig was simply enjoying the little belly rub, smiling at you as well and trying to sniff you.
"I still can't believe my parents didn't allow me to have a fish but allowed you to bring a whole pig home."
"I think you're the one jealous." he raised an eyebrow meanwhile you rolled your eyes.
"I could never be... especially of this gorgeous little piggy." you rubbed her belly as well as she let a few pleased squeeks.
"I thought Prongs was babysitting you?" he tol her. "We shall find him, shan't we?"
---
However, James was sitting in the dark attic, surfing through old boxes of his grandparents things. Especially his nana's, which he regretted a bit when he pulled out old lingerie.
"Oh, ew..." he quickly threw it away. "I did not need to know that." he surfed through the old box, finally finding what he has been looking for...

Pairing: Harry Potter x Reader
Summary: Harry and Y/n have been close friends for a while and their friendship is turning into something more. (This is Sorta an Au where Voldemort died trying to kill Harry. Also Peter pettigrew got arrested and Sirius is cleared. Also Remus stayed the DADA teacher.)
Warning: Cussing?, anxiety/nervousness of meeting new people, I might change the series name but idk yet
Tumblr media
Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Y/n were walking up to the manor where Sirius was residing in ever since he got cleared.
Y/n and Harry walked next to each other, as Ron and Hermione walked together in front of them.
“How are you feeling?” Y/n asked.
“Excited. I finally get away from them. And maybe I can find out more about my parents, have a family.” Harry said happily.
“Oh so I’m not your family?” Y/n asked jokingly.
Harry rolled his eyes playfully and nudged her.
“You know you are.” He replied.
They made it to the door and they walked in Remus was waiting.
“Hello.” He greeted.
“Hey.” The kids replied kinda at once.
Harry looked over at Y/n and noticed she was nervous. After knowing her for almost 3 years, he was able to tell when she was and wasn’t nervous.
“How about you. How are you feeling?” Harry asked.
“Fine.” Y/n lied.
“You don’t have to lie.” Harry said as he hugged her.
He pulled back a bit so he could look at her.
“What has you nervous?” Harry asked.
“He’s not going to like me.” Y/n said very sure.
“He’ll like you.” Harry tried to reassure.
“Really because I threatened to kill him.” Y/n said.
“You wouldn’t actually do it though.” Harry defended.
“Well.” Ron said from behind them before getting slapped in the stomach by Hermione. Ron mumbled a little ow.
The two pulled away.
“He will love you. And if he doesn’t, I’ll make him.” Harry said.
“Harry.” They herd a familiar voice say.
The two look up and over to the arch way and saw Sirius waiting for him.
“Sirius.” He said happily before running up and hugging him.
Y/n smiled, she was happy to see her best friend so happy.
They hugged each other tightly before they pulled apart. Harry turned and faced us and Sirius put an arm around him.
“Well, come in.” He said.
We all walked in and into the living room.
Remus went to leave the room.
“What are you doing?” Sirius asked.
“In case you forgot, I’m a professor. I have to finish grading things.” He said before he left.
“I have to use the restroom.” Hermione said to Harry.
“I’ll show you.” Harry said.
“I also have to go, so I’ll tag along.” Ron said before quickly leaving with Harry and Hermione.
Y/n knew her friends more than anyone else. Harry and Hermione were doing this on purpose. Ron probably wasn’t though.
She walked over to the couch and sat down. Y/n played with her fingers in her lap while uncomfortable silence surrounded Sirius and her.
He sat down in a couch not to far away from Y/n. A little bit passed before she built up some courage.
“I’m... I’m sorry for Uh, you know, putting my wand in your face and threatening to kill you last time we saw each other.” Y/n said.
An amused smile came to Sirius face.
“It’s fine. You were protecting Harry, I would’ve done the same thing.” He assured.
Y/n nodded and looked back down.
“You don’t need to be on edge. Go ahead and make yourself comfortable.” Sirius said.
Y/n scooted back in the couch and sat cris cross. Sirius and Y/n made some light conversation as they waited for the trio to get back.
Soon enough Harry, Ron, and Hermione walked in. Harry saw that Y/n was a bit on edge and walked over, and sat by her.
“Hey.” He said quietly.
“Hey.” She replied.
“How are you doing?” He asked.
Y/n shrugged.
“He seems fine.” Y/n replied.
Harry smiled as he grabbed her hand. The group continued to talk.
——————-
It was now dinner, and everyone was grabbing their food.
Harry and Sirius stood next to each other getting their food. Harry looked up and saw Y/n sitting at the table talking to Hermione.
“Did you and Y/n talk?” Harry asked while looking at her.
Sirius looked up at Harry and smiled when he saw how Harry was smiling.
“I did. She seems like a great friend.” Sirius said.
Harry looked down and went back to what he was doing.
“She was worried you wouldn’t like her. For... you know threatening to kill you back when you escaped.” Harry explained.
“Not at all. I don’t blame her, I would’ve done the same thing for you, Remus, James, or anyone that’s cared about you and you care about.” Sirius said.
“Harry! Are you coming anytime soon!?” Y/n called out.
“Yeah, on my way.” Harry replied.
Sirius and Harry went to sit at the table and the group ate as they talked and got to know Sirius and Remus.

To Be a Chocolatier - Remus Lupin
Young!Remus Lupin x Reader
A/N: This is something I was working on. I hope you all like it. Remember, requests are still open!!! Thank you for all of the support <3
Tumblr media
To Be a Chocolatier
Breakups are fun. Typically they consist of muggle films, ice cream, chocolate, firewhiskey, sad songs, and occasionally some parties. These were all true for you, except, you weren’t as sad as you were letting on. True, you had just been dumped by a decent Ravenclaw, and you had been dating long enough for the “L-word” to spill out of your lips, but that doesn’t mean you were sad. He wasn’t the one. You knew that from the beginning, but he was fun and was comforting to have around. Now, two days after the breakup you sit in the common room with a book in your lap as the fire roars. It was pretty late considering the silence. Typically, it was too hectic for you to get some relaxation, but tonight it’s quiet. Too quiet. That means the infamous Marauders were out doing something.
You flipped through the pages in the chapter, enjoying the warmth that emanated from the fireplace. You were aware of most of your surroundings, however, you didn’t hear the girl step out from her dorm into the common room. She stood by the stairs and quietly observed you, trying to understand you.
“You feeling alright Y/N? I know this breakup is pretty rough, but you should really get some sleep.” It was Lily Evans, a long-time friend, who was too pure to understand the truth of the situation. Lies, especially about love, are a complex concept, and  the clever witch could never understand. So, you play along. She feels like she’s helping, and you don’t get a guilt trip about leading anyone on, although he was the one who broke up with you. And, it was to be with another girl, so who was really leading who?
In the end, you nodded your head and said that you would be up in a minute, and that you just wanted to finish your chapter by the fire. Lily seemed to believe you and went back up to the dorms. A few pages later, you heard the portrait and assumed that the boys were probably returning from whatever mischievous quest they were on. Three of them paid no mind to you as they giggled their way back up to their own dorm. One of the boys, however, caught wind of your presence.
“Y/L/N right?”
“That would be me. You are Lupin, Gryffindor prefect and babysitter to those three,” You said motioning your head up to where the boys just were. He chuckled and nodded.
“I heard what happened with that Ravenclaw kid. I know we don’t know each other well, but are you okay?” He seemed almost uncomfortable with the conversation.
“Yeah I’m fine. Things happen I guess. I’ll move on soon enough,” although truth be told I already had. He sat down on the couch next to me.
“What are you reading?” You closed the book with your finger on your current page and showed him the cover. It was a muggle book you picked up from a muggleborn a few weeks back. It was just something you used to pass the time. You both sat next to each other with a comfortable silence. All that could be heard was the crackling fire. Then, you heard a bit of rustling and looked over to see him pull out some chocolate. As he was breaking off a piece for him to eat, you held out your hand to him. He looked at you incredulously. You motioned your hand towards him. Eventually he placed the piece of chocolate into your hand, and you shoved it into your mouth.
“Chocolate cures everything you know,” you said, still savoring the sweet taste.
“Not everything,” he responded bitterly. You glanced over at his features.
“Well, maybe those things that it isn’t curing don’t need to be cured,” you offered.
“Maybe. What about you, are you cured of your breakup yet?” You laughed.
“After that small piece? It’s gonna take more than that my friend.” You began to get up, realizing that it was getting late, and you did have to go to class in the morning. You wished him a goodnight and walked up to your dorm. A small smile glued onto you face the whole way up.
For a few days after this occurrence, you would see Remus around school, and in classes. If you saw that he had chocolate, you would wander over to him with a hand raised, awaiting your prize. Everytime he would chuckle at your child-like attitude and shake his head, but ultimately, you always got what you wanted. The other Marauders were becoming more interested in these interactions. Remus was not someone who was often involved with the girls at Hogwarts, in fact, this was the first real time that they saw something like this from him.
When it came time to go to Hogsmeade, you made your way with Lily by your side. She was complaining about some stunt that James pulled. You knew that she secretly liked him back, but you would never call her out on those feelings, at least not until she was able to realize them herself. You both walked into Honeydukes, where you were scanning the aisles looking for the best sweets.
“So, are we finally going to stop stealing my precious chocolate away from me?” I smiled to myself before I turned to meet his face.
“Well, it just so happens that the cure for a breakup requires a higher dosage of sugar than what you have been offering me. This doesn’t mean you’re off the hook quite yet,” you finished with a smirk.
From afar, four pairs of eyes were watching this encounter. The three boys and Lily were amazed to see what was becoming of their friends. Sirius and James made it their mission to get Remus to ask you out. Peter was along for the ride, since he liked seeing his friend happy. Lily, on the other hand, was skeptical. You were supposed to be recovering from a breakup, so why were you so quick to move on? She knew Remus, and thought he was a pretty decent guy, and she didn’t want him to get hurt by becoming the rebound.
You were unaware of how you were feeling. In your past relationships, there had been a sort of convenience and comfort to not being alone, but none of those boys managed to elicit real emotions. You were giddy for the first time in your life, and it was scary, but also exciting. Everytime you were around Remus, it was like things were falling into place, and you couldn’t have been happier. Remus was also beginning to feel something for you. It seemed as though whenever you were around, he had a smile tattooed on his face. Even if you weren’t around, he could feel his lips start to turn upwards with thoughts about the next time he would see you.
A few nights after the trip to Hogsmeade, you sat in the common room with all four of the marauders. You were over on a chair minding your own business with another book in your hand. Occasionally, you would glance up and peek at Remus. Sometimes, your eyes would meet and you would send him a playful wink. During one of these instances, Sirius and James made the choice that tonight was the night to get you two together.
“Prongs, I think I need help on that transfiguration assignment.”
“Sure Padfoot, let’s do that. Wormtail, we may need you for, uh, moral support.” With that the two schemers dragged their friend up to the dorms leaving you and Remus alone in the common room. He looked up at you and motioned his head to the recently vacant place beside. You put down your book with a playful pout, but smiled as you made your way to him. The next few hours consisted of different conversations about everything and nothing. You were both now laying down on the ground, when you sat up and looked at him.
“If you were a muggle,” you paused.
“If I were a muggle what?” He urged sitting up to face you.
“No. It’s dumb. Forget it.” You went to lay back down but he grabbed you and pulled you up.
“Let me hear it. C’mon, I deal with those three idiots upstairs. Anything you say sounds smart.”
“Okay. If you were a muggle, what would be your dream job, and don’t you dare say a teacher or professor, because that is just plain cheating.” You spit out the last part knowing he would choose the easiest of the options.
“I don’t know. Maybe, uh...He looked around the room and saw a wrapper. How about a chocolate maker?” You laughed obnoxiously at his answer. “What? It’s not that funny,” he replied sheepishly.
“Oh, Mr. Moony, to be a chocolatier. What a fitting dream it is.” You continued to laugh at his choice, and eventually he joined in.
Your night together ended in joyous laughter. It was perfect, and you soon found yourself in a place you never thought you would end up.  You were falling hopelessly in love with Remus Lupin, and there was no you were coming back.
The next morning, you had slept in. You didn’t mean to, but your dreams were filled with Remus and you just couldn’t bring yourself back to reality where you two weren’t together. At breakfast, Lily made her way to the Marauders to talk to Remus about his relationship with you. She wanted the both of you to be happy, but she didn’t want anyone to get hurt in the process.
“Lupin. Can I talk to you for a minute?” Remus looked at the boys, but eventually got up to talk with Lily.
“You know, Y/N is still dealing with her breakup, and I just can’t help but wonder how you fall into all of this. I mean, they were together for a while, and I’m just worried that she is using you to get over him. I’m sorry.” She finished with a nervous look on her face. Remus’ expression was unreadable. Was he angry at Lily for making such accusations? Was he upset at himself for falling for someone who was using him? He needed time to process so that is what he did.
Later that day, you saw him in the halls with Sirius by his side. You wandered over to him like you had been doing all of this time, but he just shouldered past you and left you confused and alone. Sirius looked as though he was apologetic, but even he didn’t know what was going on. When he asked Remus about it, he was told to “mind his own damn business.” This was a clear sign that Remus was pissed, and no one could figure why.
This occurred for another week. Both you and Remus were feeling the effects of this distance. You two had grown so accustomed to the time you spent together. The smiles and inside jokes were gone and no one knew why, except for Remus and Lily. They boys were annoyed with the sudden irritability of their friend, but they thought it had to do with his furry little problem. Well, the full moon had gone and nothing changed. Remus was still bitter, and no one could stand it anymore.
On the other hand, Lily was seeing what real heartbreak looked on you. Before, you were reserved, but there was nothing that told her that you were really grieving the loss of a relationship. The lack of contact with Remus was taking a toll on you. You were sad all of the time. You hardly smiled anymore, and you lost the spark that made you so incredible. It wasn’t until you started skipping meals to avoid having to look at Remus that she realized that she had made a huge mistake.
One morning, she went to breakfast alone, which concerned Remus because you typically tried to talk to him or the other Marauders in the morning. This time it was different, and he was worried, but more than anything he was angry. He shouldn’t have had this much of an impact on you, especially when this was all your fault. You were the one who was using him to get over your ex. At least that was what he thought. After letting these thoughts get to his head, he made the decision to leave the great hall and take some time to himself in the library.
This was the perfect opportunity for the three boys to get an idea over what happened from Lily. She told them everything, including how she thinks that she made a huge mistake. Sirius and James started plotting different ways to get the two together, but Lily knew that she just needed to come clean to her friend and pray that you would forgive her in the end.
Later that day, you were in bed contemplating which sweets to eat, hoping that they would end the emptiness you felt inside. You couldn’t bring yourself to eat any of the chocolate you had bought prior to the silent treatment you were receiving from the boy that made your heart pound. As you picked up some sugar quills, you heard the door open. When Lily appeared before you, she looked desperate.
“There’s something that I need to tell you, and I just need to start by saying that I am so sorry.” She paused and waited for your reaction.
“Go on then,” you said carefully.
“Well, you see, uh, a little while ago, I um, had a chat with Remus. I was trying to look out for the both of you. I may have, just slightly, insinuated that he was your rebound, and that nothing good could come out of whatever you two had going on. Listen Y/N, I am so sorry, and I see now that what I did was wrong, and I know you will never forgive me but-”
“Stop rambling,” you interrupted. “I’m not mad, well I am, but I understand. I was playing up the whole breakup thing before and you were looking out for Remus. I understand where you were coming from, but I just wish you would have talked to me about it before. This thing with Remus is more than anything I’ve had before.” Lily watched you with a small smile. She made a huge mistake in thinking that you didn’t really care for Remus. Here you are, already plotting how to get him back. You never would have done that for anyone else. It was refreshing for Lily to see you growing up and falling in love.
“Lily, you were the one who caused this issue though, so I’m gonna need your help.”
“Whatever you need. I can’t see you mope around the dorm anymore.”
“Good, but this plan may require a bit of flirting with a Potter. Do you think you can handle it?” She laughed.
“I don’t even think I need to flirt to get him to help.” She thought back to this morning and how desperate the boys were to get their friend back up in high spirits.
The rest of the day and the following morning were spent making sure that the plan was perfect. That night, you set everything into motion. You had been waiting by the fire in the common room, just out of sight from anyone who was entering through the portrait hole. Sirius was bringing Remus to the common room, while Peter and Lily managed to keep everyone out of the common room for as long as possible. James was assigned to charming the common room to keep Remus inside for a little while. It wouldn’t last long, but it should be long enough that you two make up.
When you heard two voices enter the common room, you panicked slightly. What if this didn’t work? Had you really lost the only person you’ve ever really fallen for when you did nothing wrong? You were petrified to say the least. When he finally got wind of your presence, he went to rush up to his dorm but James pushed him back.
“You two are going to talk whether you, Mr. I’m-too-stubborn-for-my-own-good, like it or not.” With that, the two pranksters left you two alone. Remus looked at you with a look that you could only define as that of betrayal.
“You know, I lied that night when you gave me that piece of chocolate.” He looked at you with confusion written in his features. “I was cured of my breakup long before you showed up. I didn’t understand what heartbreak felt like until you stopped talking to me. I’m not trying to make you feel guilty, you weren’t aware of the truth. Don’t get mad at Lily either. She wasn’t aware either. Listen, from what I hear from the boys, you have been pretty insufferable lately, and I know that it’s my fault but I think I found a way to fix it.”
Remus watched you carefully as you walked towards him. You held out your hand to him, and in it was some chocolate. His eyes trailed up to yours where you held a hopeful smirk.
“Chocolate cures everything, and right now, I need you to be cured so you can see just how much you mean to me Remus. You were never the rebound. You’re so much more than that to me, and I don’t want to spend another day of my life without you there with me.”
He silently grabbed the chocolate and began to unwrap it. He stopped and looked up at you with a mischievous grin.
“It’s melted, my dear.” You looked at the item in his hand and facepalmed.
“I’m so sorry Remus, I was waiting for you by the fire, and well, chocolate and heat don’t really mix all that well. I thought this was going to be romantic.” You felt so stupid. How could you mess up the easiest part of the plan?
He scooped up a small bit on his finger and sucked on it. “It’s still delicious.”
You looked up and grabbed some as well just as he had done before.
“Darling,” he began, “you’ve got a little something on your lip.” You smiled.
“So do you,” you said before closing the gap between the two of you. When your lips met, it was heavenly. The combined taste of chocolate and Remus sent you to another realm. You brought your hand to his face, unaware of the chocolate that was still on your fingers. When he finally pulled away, you saw the mess you had made. Small giggles spewed from your mouth, and they soon turned into large laughs.
“Mr. Moony, you really are taking this whole chocolatier thing too far,” you managed to get out between laughs. He brought his hand up and felt the residue of his sweet gift. He looked at your face, completely guilt-free, and down at the bar of melted chocolate. He smiled and sneakily swiped a few of his fingers into the chocolate. He waltzed over to you as you tried to calm your breathing after your giggle fit.
“Well, I think it’s about time that you become Mrs. Chocolatier. Don’t you think?” He dragged his fingers down your cheeks and across your lips, as your face contorted into that of pure surprise.
“Wow, you really do look the part now. Oh, to be a chocolatier Ms.Y/L/N.” He brought you in for another sweet kiss. But was interrupted by the sound of gagging from Sirius and James.
“We leave you alone for a couple of minutes and this is what you two do? Look at this mess. And to think Moony, you call us children.” You and Remus just giggled at the small ranting from Sirius before he pulled you in for another kiss.

Their Daughter Pt 3
Warning: Arguing, insecurities, crying
A/N: I am planning on this being about six parts, but I’m not sure yet. Leave me some feed back! This also hasn’t been proofread so I apologize for that! Please don’t post my work anywhere else.
The rest of the night before Ali left for Malfoy Manor passed slowly. She wrote her reply telling her aunt that she would be at Andromedas before she came to the Manor. Ali could hear the others moving around the house below her, but chose to stay in her room. After hearing her own father call her a snake she didn’t want to be at risk of getting called it again by him or anyone else. It was something she was used to at school, and often ignored, but hearing it from her own father hurt more than the others. She wasn’t a snake and just because she spent time with Slytherins it didn’t make her a bad person. She found it ironic that people in other houses say things about house unity and having friends from other houses, but none of them ever showed Slytherins much kindness apart from a few Hufflepuff's. Slytherins were misunderstood a lot and being sarcastic and rude was a defense mechanism for most of them was what Ali had learned from her time spent with them. Draco, for example, just wanted his father to be proud of him, while Daphne wanted to be seen as more than just her face and body. Everyone of the Slytherins has some sort of problem, they all realize this and that’s what makes them such good friends with one another.
Ali shut her trunk lid before sitting on top of it blowing a piece of her dark hair from her face. She had packed a few things to take with her, though she already had quite a lot at the manor in her room. Draco told her to bring a swimsuit and leave the books in his letter, so she packed both. It had taken about an hour to pack everything she needed, so seeing as it was getting dark outside she looked at the clock. It was 6:00 meaning that it was almost time for dinner. She changed into a pair of black leggings before throwing a jumper on that somehow ended up being Blaise’s Quidditch jumper; it was always cold in the house even in the middle of summer. Shrugging she looked at her appearance in the mirror, she fixed her hair into a braid going down the side of her head before letting the growling of her stomach lead her downstairs.
She noticed that all the noise seemed to be coming from the dining room so her plan of grabbing cookies and leaving was busted. From the sounds it seemed as though everyone was in there, but Regulus was so quiet she wasn’t sure if he was or not. Pausing she sent up a quick prayer hoping that Regulus, Remus or both would be in there. Conversations seemed to pause when she walked through the threshold. Sirius was talking with Harry and Ron, Molly was sitting with her husband and oldest two, Hermione and Ginny were looking at a book, Remus sat near Sirius looking thoughtful, while Regulus had his back to her talking with someone. He noticed some of the chatter had died down, he turned to see Ali and gave her a view of the person in front of him.
Everyone’s mouths dropped when Ali took off faster than a snitch towards her Uncle Severus. She jumped on him, hugging him while he smiled at Regulus hugging his only niece back. “When did you get here? Why didn’t you come see me?” Ali pouted at her Uncle which caused him to shake his head, chuckling at her antics.
“Regulus said you were probably packing for tomorrow and I did not want to interrupt. And as for when I got here it was about fifteen minutes or so,” He kissed her head before letting her step back. Severus bit back another smile when he noticed all his students and former students staring at him and his niece. “Isn’t there something else you could be looking at?” Directing his icy glare to Granger, Potter, and the youngest two Weasleys. Their heads whip down except Harry’s whose eyes went back and forth between Severus and Ali. Severus knew of the words Potter often said about Ali and the others in his house. Assuming that he was just going to keep staring at the two Severus turned his attention back to Regulus and Ali. “When do you leave for the manor?”
Ali found it funny that her uncle had set the others in place, but she a;so got why they were looking. Severus was a private person; he wasn’t one for talking a lot or physical touch. Ali had only ever seen him hug one person and that was her. To everyone else he was a cold, rude Potions teacher, but to Ali he was her Uncle that brought her books, taught her Potions, and made the best tea in the world. She felt her fathers eyes on the back of her head, but pointedly chose to ignore him. “I leave tomorrow when Uncle Rem does.”
“I still do not understand why you insist on going over there. They are not good company Alianova. Are you going to become like them? Become a Death Eater like Lucius and his son are? You were raised by one so it wouldn’t be a surprise,” Sirius sneered at his daughter. The look of disgust in his eyes hurt her more than the words. Ali knew that before Lucius was a Death Eater much like Regulus and Severus. But she also knew that they weren’t those people maymoer. Each of those men had decided that family was more important. It had taken a lot for Lucius to see that his ways were wrong, but the thought of harm coming to Draco, Narcissa or even Ali made him see differently.
Ali’s blood boiled when sirius talked about her family like that. He didn’t have to like them, but she loved them and they loved her. He wasn’t there for her; they were. “They aren’t Death Eaters.” She stated firmly.
“Aren’t Death Eaters? Are you draft? Draco may not be right now, but I know Lucius would never give up his ways. It’s only a matter of time before Draco is one as well. How old were you Regulus when you got the mark? Seventeen? Draco is almost there. Harry told me what he’s like in school, and what you're like. Stuck up, and prejudice just like the others. It’s honestly no wonder Harry doesn’t like you. Typical Black fashion to only hang out with Purebloods. You're going to end up just like Bellatrix I guarantee it if you stay hanging out with the Malfoys.”
“That is enough,” Regulus stepped in front of Ali. Everyone's eye bouncing between Ali, Regulus and Sirius. Ali felt tears brim in her eyes, and her breathing become heavier. Anger and hurt ran through her veins, battling one another. Sweat started to gather on her palms as she noticed the looks of pity coming from Molly, and Arthur after the shock of what Sirius had said wore off. Molly ushered everyone out of the room, Harry went reluctantly, beside Sirius, Remus, Severus, and Ali sensing that this was a private family matter. Remus stood, crossing the room to take Ali into his arms. She let out a shuddering breath before turning her attention back to Sirius and Regulus. “She has done absolutely nothing wrong to you or anyone for that matter. And you call her draft? Look in the mirror Sirius. She is your child for Godric's sake! Not Harry Potter. Ali is a good girl; she gets good grades, has manners, and above all she doesn’t care what peoples blood status is. You’re calling her prejudice? She is the least prejudiced person in this whole house. You have no say in anything that she does. None. You left her not just once, but twice. You can say that you didn’t know she was there all you want, but you know that anyone that had her wouldn’t have sent her anywhere else. You chose Harry Potter over her TWICE. And you never picked up the pieces; we did. Myself, Remus, Severus, Narcissa, Lucius, Ted, and Andromeda were all there for her when she was growing up. Remus taught her to read, Severus taught her how to make small potions on a potions kit, Cissa and Andy taught her took her shopping for girly clothes, Lucius taught her to ride a broom with Draco, and Ted took her to the candy shop everytime she got a good grade in school. What did you do? Nothing. If she wants to go and spend time with the people that helped raise her she can. You can’t blame her for how you're acting towards her. It’s like she doesn't even exist when Potter is around.” Regulus took a breath, turning to look at Ali who had tears running down her cheeks. His heart broke for his sweet little girl who deserved the world not this mess of a family. He pulled her to his chest, one hand stroking her hair the other tight around her back, rocking slightly to ease the sobs she was letting out.
“That is not true. That is my daughter I love her,” Sirius started but was quickly interrupted by Remus.
“You may love her sirius, but you don’t show it very well. Do you see what you've done? I love you Sirius, but this is wrong. Harry is your godchild, but she is your child. I think it’s best if you leave her alone for a bit,” Remus crouched down to be eye level with Ali, “Are you packed? I think it’ll be best if you go ahead and stay at Andy’s tonight.”
Ali nodded her head before pressing a kiss to Regulus cheek whispering a love you and see you soon then doing the same to Severus who had Accio’d her trunk down the stairs. She wrapped her arm through Remus's, not even sparing a glance at the man who had caused her more pain the last couple of hours then in her whole life. Ali wanted her dad to love her like he loved Harry. She understood that she wasn’t a Gryffindor like him, but did that really make her so terrible? When she was little she had heard the stories of her father through her uncles, aunts, and a few teachers. She always thought that he was the coolest person to ever walk the corridors of Hogwarts. Often she would fanize what her life could have been like if James and Lily hadn’t died, her dad wasn’t in Azkaban, and her dad and Regulus got along. Would she be equal to Harry then? Would her dad still have favored Harry over her because she was a girl and a Ravenclaw? Those thoughts came to mind more times than she could count in the last couple weeks.
She felt the tug of apparition in her belly for a few seconds before she landed on the Tonks’s doorstep. She felt the protection wards give easily around her as Remus gave her a one sided hug, kissing her head as she wiped her cheeks. Ali knew that once Remus knocked her Aunt Andy saw the state she was in with her puffy, red eyes, lounge clothes, and the fact that she was a day early Merlin wouldn’t be able to stop her from ripping Sirius into pieces. Remus waited till Ali nodded at him before knocking, he knew that someone would be home whether it was Andromeda, Ted, or Nymphadora. He silently hoped for the later two, but hope wasn’t on his side when Andromeda Tonks opened the door with her look of surprise turning into rage as she looked at Ali. Andy grabbed her nieces hand pulling her inside with Remus following before wrapping Ali in a hug that a mother would give her distraught child. Andromeda looked at Remus over Ali’s shoulder silently asking what had happened to which Remus mouthed out Sirius’s name. Andromeda was afraid of this when Sirius came back into their lives. She loved her cousin with all that was in her, but he was not good with priorities often not being able to sort them out even as children. Ali gripped tight at her aunt's waist knowing that she was finally going to be able to breath without having someone say something about it.
Noise coming from the stairs caused Ali to look up. Nymphadora came bounding down only to stop when she saw her baby cousin's teary face and Remus gloomy look. She walked over to Remus standing on her tiptoes to press a kiss to his cheek which made him blush and Ali giggle a little bit before wrapping her arm around Ali’s shoulders. “What’s up, pipsqueak?”
Ali leaned her head onto Nymphadora’s shoulder taking in the smell of her lavender shampoo. “Not much. Mind some company for the night?” Ali was comfortable around Dora, they were like the sister neither of them got to have. Although Dora was seven years older than her, they were closer than just cousins. “Mind your company? Never. More like Dad and Mum should mind cause we are going to party it up!” Dora stated changing her hair to rainbow before poking Ali’s side to make her laugh. She knew her cousin well so she knew that they didn’t need to talk about whatever happened to make her cry. She would talk about it with who she felt fit and when she felt fit to do it. Dora knew that Remus and her mum as well as the others would take care of the issue, so all she had to worry about was making her baby cousin happy again.
“Well I should get back home. Mainly to make sure that Regulus doesn’t murder Sirius, but if he did I wouldn’t mind too much right now,” Remus said walking to the two girls, kissing Ali’s head and Dora’s lips quickly. “Don’t cause too much trouble you two.” Remus loved the relationship that Ali had with Dora. It was often like watching his girlfriend and daughter together. Some said it was weird to be dating someone who was closer to your child's age then yours but he had learned to care a little less about people's opinions as time went on. He loved Dora and that wasn’t going to change and seeing her with Ali only made that love stronger.  Alianova was his daughter in every way, but blood. Remus gave Andromeda a nod before apparating back home in hopes that he wouldn’t have to hide a dead body.
Once Remus left Dora guided Ali into the kitchen where Ted was cooking dinner still. “Hello darling, we weren’t expecting you till tomorrow.” He stepped away from the stove to give her a hug before the two girls hopped up onto the kitchen island while Andromeda leaned against the counter by her husband.
“Yeah, I’m sorry about just showing up a day early. It was...just getting too much at home with everyone there and stuff..” Ali missed the way all the Tonks’s looked at each other since she was staring at the wringing fingers in her lap.
“What happened, Nova?” Dora placed a hand on hers calming her fingers down.
“Just Sirius got mad because I’m staying with Cissa for a week. He started saying some really mean things about them as well as said that I was going to become just like Bellatrix since I hung out with Death Eaters,” Ali sighed looking at Andromeda with tears in her eyes. “I just want him to love me. I don’t know why he can’t. I- I try so hard to make everyone proud of me, but he just hates me. What does Harry have that I don’t?”
Dora wrapped her cousin up in a hug while Andromeda took her other side, “We are all so proud of you, sweetheart. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you. Sirius has always had his judgement clouded, especially when it comes to the Potters. You are so loved by so many people, don’t you ever forget that,” Her aunt whispered in her ear, kissing her cheek. Ali’s shoulders felt a little lighter that the thought of nothing being wrong with her, but with Sirius.
“If he doesn’t quit being a tosser, I’ll hex him with the Boogie Bat Hex. We’ll see how he likes that.” Dora naturally had to make everyone laugh to ease the tension.
Ted handed out a plates of spaghetti and everyone settled around the kitchen not even bothering to move to the dining room. Laughter filled the room as Nymphadora recalled a story about Mad Eye from a mission the other day. As darkness filled the sky everyone sat about the living room watching a Disney movie that Dora picked out. Ted and Andromeda sat on the couch cuddled up together while Ali and Dora shared the floor in front of them. Looking at her Aunt, Uncle and cousin, Ali couldn’t help but smile feeling content for a little while even if she missed her Uncle Regulus dearly the next couple of weeks.
The following day…..
It was late when Ali woke up. They had stayed up late the night before watching movies till Ted and Andromeda went to bed while her and Dora stayed up later talking. She felt the excitement coursing through her veins at the thought of seeing her other family that day. Knowing that Andromeda would be up soon to tell her about breakfast, Ali decided to write to Regulus before getting dressed. Grabbing parchment and a quill off the desk she settled in the window still and began.
Dear Uncle Reg,
I hope everything is going better at home today then it was when I was there. I’m kinda sad we didn’t get to have a decent goodbye before I left. I’ll miss you the next week or so that I’m gone and I hope when I get back we can finish the movie series we were watching. Honestly you are a total Jedi, even if you say you aren’t. I leave for the Manor today so when you write back make sure to send it there. Oh, and can you feed Athena for me? I think I left my window open, but I’m not sure so sorry! Try not to murder anyone while I’m gone, and maybe come visit for a day or so just to get away from your brother. Hug Kreacher for me!
Love your favorite niece,
Al
By the time she was done her Aunt was knocking on the door. “Good morning, darling. Breakfast is ready when you are.” Andy gave her niece a kiss on the head before straightening her bed, a habit she hoped to instil in the girls but it never took. “Dora already left with Remus, but they both said to tell you that they loved you and Dora said to not take any of her clothes when you leave, but if you do I won’t tell a soul.” Andromeda winked at her.
“Okay, I’ll be down in a few minutes just let me get dressed.” Ali opened her trunk while Andromeda gave her some privacy. She dug through it to find a decent outfit knowing full and well that when she got to the Manor she would be going out with Cissa. She settled on a black and white plaid skirt with tights, white combat boots, and a black and blue Ravenclaw Quidditch tee that she had rolled the sleeves on. Throwing her hair in a messy half updo similar to Narcissa’s, she went down stairs.
Her uncle had made pancakes and bacon for breakfast and she quickly settled in eating her weight in food before bidding goodbye to Andromeda and Ted using the Floo network to take her to the Manor. She didn’t use the Floo often since Grimmauld Place wasn’t set up for it per Moody’s request. Sputtering out a cough, Ali dusted off her clothes before she was wrapped up in the familiar rose scent perfume that Cissa wore. “Oh you're here! I have missed you so much darling.”
Ali wrapped her arms around her aunt burying her face in her shoulder. Ali was closer to Narcissa then she was Andromeda. She loved her aunts equally, but since her and Draco were so close in age they spent a lot of time at each other's house. Narcissa had looked at Ali as a surrogate daughter whereas Andromeda had a daughter. Narcissa provided the motherly nurture that she needed in her life. “Okay, mother. Let her breath and give us a turn.”
Ali could literally hear the eye roll in Draco's voice. Narcissa let her go, but not before cupping her face looking at her intensely. Narcissa was incredibly good at reading people and this was something she had done to Draco, Ali, and Dora since they were little to make sure they were okay. From the small frown on her face Ali knew that Cissa knew she was hurt. Cissa also knew they would talk about it later. Draco hugged Ali before spinning her around making her laugh. It was their ritual after a Slytherin won a Qudditch game and it extended to when they hadn’t seen each other in a while. Lastly Ali walked over to her Uncle who was looking at her outfit choice. She knew the words were bound to come out of his mouth in a couple of seconds much like they would Regulus’s if he saw what she had on. “Your skirt is too short Ali,” Lucius hugged his niece before raising an eyebrow at her.
“Oh, Lucius, stop. It isn’t too short. She’s fine.” Narcissa grabbed her hand before calling their house elf to take Ali’s stuff to her room. “We were wanting to go to Diagon Alley, are you up for it? Lucius needs to get a few things, and we could get you and Draco some school things. But you would rather stay home. I'm sure Draco would keep you company.”
“Please say you want to stay home,” Draco practically begged looking at his cousin.
Ali’s smile held nothing by mischief as she looked between Draco and Cissa. She shot a wink at Draco, “I think I want to go. I haven’t been in ages.” Draco let out a huff which led him to receive a Narcissa scowl.
“Wonderful!,” Narcissa ushered Draco and Ali to the fireplace, Draco grabbed some Floo powder before grabbing Ali’s hand, “Diagon Alley.”
The pair were quickly followed by the elder Malfoys. Ali knew she needed to get a few books for the new school year so she dragged Draco with her to Flourish and Blotts, while Draco's family spoke with a wizard outside. The potions books were located in the back of the store, Draco started at one end while Ali at the other looking for their sixth year books. Giggles filled the aisle as Draco kept making jokes about the authors names, the two were so engrossed in their book hunting that they didn’t notice the three people standing next to them with amused looks. Ali had bent down to grab a book she would need for Arithmancy as she stood back up she felt a breath on the back of her neck, she quickly turned and nearly screamed when a face was only a few inches away from hers. “Boo!”
Pansy, Blaise, and Draco were doubled over in laughter at the look on Ali’s face while Theo gave her an apologetic smile, “I cannot believe you just did that!”
“I would say I’m sorry, but I’m really not,” Theo hugged Ali before stepping aside to speak with Draco. Ali was nearly knocked to the ground with the force of Pansy's hug.
“Oh Merlin, I have missed you so much, Al. Honestly we cannot go this long without seeing each other anymore.” Pansy wrapped her arms around Ali’s shoulders while Ali went around her waist. Pansy and Ali became friends quickly on the Hogwarts express first year. They had sworn to each other that they would stay friends no matter the houses they got, luckily they both got houses that didn’t rival one another too much so they shared a dorm together more often than not with three other girls, but was only close with Daphne. Snape being the Head of Slytherin house Ali didn’t have to worry about getting into too much trouble if she was caught in the Slytherin girls dorms. Most people saw Pansy and thought she was a stuck up, rude princess, but Ali knew that she was really insecure and used sarcasm to hide it. Pansy was her best friend besides Draco and normally the two would have been at each other's houses over the summer, but with Sirius being out that couldn’t happen. The two were a perfect pair; where Ali was quiet, Pansy was loud, where Ali was the brains of the operations, Pansy was the executor. “I missed you, too. I am so sorry that I couldn’t hang out this summer. We had some family stuff going on.”
Although the Weasley, Hermione, Harry and her family coud know of Sirius’s whereabouts no one else could until he was proven innocent. With Pettigrew being gone the likelihood of that happening right now was slim. Ali was just grateful that Draco knew so she could at least have someone to talk about it with. “Alright, alright, some of us would like to say hello too, Parkinson.”
Pansy’s eyes portrayed a look that Ali would have to question her on later. Blaise was Ali’s other really close friend. He was quiet except when he was around his group, but even then he preferred to observe then join. Ali had always found him attractive, but she also knew he would never find her attractive when there were many more prettier girls than her. Blaise kissed her cheek before giving her a hug, “How has your summer been, Supernova?”
Supernova had been the nickname he had given Ali upon first meeting her. He loved Astronomy, and said it just fit her. “It’s been good. Read a few books, spent some time with my Uncles. How was yours?”
“Mother got married, again. So we are now onto husband number nine. What books did you read? I had been meaning to write to you, but mother had me busy with all the wedding stuff.” Blaise grabbed the book from her hand after turning it over and checking it out he tucked it in his arm. He was always the gentleman, carrying her bag, opening doors, pulling out chairs for her. She assumed it was instilled into him by his mother since Draco often did the same for Pansy.
“Snape got me a Muggle set of books I had been wanting so I’m halfway done with those, and I read a few books on dragons. Ya know boring stuff. How’d the wedding go? Do you like him?” Ali twisted the gold ring on her finger causing it to catch Blaise's attention.
“Not boring at all. If you still have the dragon books can I borrow them? You usually pick really good ones and I'll need all the knowledge I can to compete with you on scores.” He grabbed Ali’s ringed hand, inspecting it before letting it fall back down to her side. “That’s a nice ring, where’d you get it?”
The ring in question was dainty with a gold band and light green gem surrounded by littler stones. “Oh, my Uncle Reg got it for me when school ended. Said it was for getting such good scores on my OWLs. I think he just thought it was pretty, but needed a reason to get it for me.”
“Oi! Lovebirds, let's go check out these books so we can get on with our lives. I’m dying from watching that lovely scene you put on for us,” Theo said laughing while Draco smirked at his cousin. He knew that Ali had a crush on Blaise and that Blaise had a crush on Ali, but both would not admit to one another.
“Oh shut it, Nott. You’re just jealous she likes me more.” Blaise sent her a wink before walking towards the front of the store with Draco. Ali knew he would be paying for her books and that he wouldn’t take no for an answer. Theo was distracted talking to Pansy so Ali decided to have a little payback for the teasing he just did. She pulled her skirt down a little to make it a little longer, before jumping up onto Theos back. Theo, having noticed that Ali was going to do just that, caught her around her knees helping her get settled before walking out of the shop. Pansy talked about her summer so far, stating that she would rather be back at Hogwarts then sitting at home doing nothing. Blaise raised an eyebrow at Ali's position before shaking his head at his friend's antics.
“Ya know being up this high is super weird,” Ali’s comment caused all her friends to laugh.
“That’s because you are super small,” Draco replied with an eye roll. Ali was the shortest out of the friend group by an inch or so and they never let her live it down. Outside the shop Narcissa and Lucius were talking with Theodore's father and Pansy's mother.
“Find what you were looking for?” Lucius asked when they reached the parents. “Yes, father, we did as well as a few strays to bring with us.”
The comment earned giggles and chuckles from the parents and Ali while Blaise whacked the top of Draco's head and Theo pretended to let Ali slip making her squeal in response and hop down off his back. “Draco don’t you need new Quidditch gloves?”
Pansy and Ali shared a look while rolling their eyes. All three boys were members of the Quidditch team and while Pansy and Ali enjoyed watching them play, it was tiring hearing them talk about it constantly. The boys looked at each other nodding before Blaise and Draco grabbed Ali and Pansy's hands pulling them to the shop. Before they got out of range Ali stopped and looked back at Narcissa, “We are going to get ice cream after this if that’s okay?”
“That’s fine darling. Lucius and I will go and get your robes, then head back to the Manor. Bring your friends along with you home. We are all having dinner together tonight. And make sure the boys pay for the ice cream.” Cissa sent her a wink before walking away with Pansy mother.

It’s seventeen minutes since Remus sent the last text when the front door of his modest ranch house begins to thump with a familiar wrapping that’s three quick knocks followed by two slower ones, and he has to wrestle down the eager grin from his face when he swings it open to find one of his closest friends standing at the threshold in that customary  weathered, leather jacket that he found two summers ago when Remus had taken him thrifting for the first time, and an impish sort of smirk that definitely would look ridiculous on anyone else, but only makes Sirius all the more maddeningly attractive.
“What took so long?” Remus asks mildly, pulling him indoors by the sleeve and gesturing for him to set the goods on the kitchen counter once they cross the small foyer.
“You wound me, Lupin.” Sirius retorts, quick-silver eyes flashing before he pins him against the island and puts his hands on either side of his waistline with more gentleness than Remus would’ve expected before they began this whole sorted affair— Okay, maybe that’s the wrong word for it?
It’s not an affair, or tryst, or carrying on or whatever the fuck else Lily says when she’s teetering on the wrong edge of tipsy and thinks it’s her right to call Remus out on his bullshit— on his stupid, beyond obvious crush he’s been fostering for one of his closest friends since junior high.
It’s none of those things— It’s not nearly as dramatic.
It’s just— Just that yes, Remus has been harboring a tiny infatuation  for Sirius ever since that first day of the seventh grade  when he had moved to this tiny, coastal town after his parents divorce. But how could he have not? Sirius is hilarious, and a genius, and so gorgeous that sometimes it feels like his insides are twisting up whenever he glances over at him. And on that first day, he had just caught Remus’s eyes from across the library shelves before classes begun, and smiled in that uniquely electric way of his, and asked if Remus could put slime in a very specific locker, (Snape’s), for a very specific reason, (Because he kept following Lily around like a creep), on account to no one suspecting the new kid. And yeah— Remus was lost on him an embarrassing amount from then on.
Sure, it can be regarded as kinda pathetic on Remus’s end— kindling this nest of emotions so close to the chest— but also it’s not as if he’s been lovestruck by his crush, like it’s some sort of waterlogged scarf he’s got dragging him down. His attraction towards Sirius is like a soft melody that’s swelling in the backdrop of all their interactions, nothing overwhelming— not a flood plane, not yet at least. It’s warm, and it’s familiar, and it’s persistent like a flutter of a humming bird’s wings.  And Remus doesn’t mind pining over someone as fantastical as Sirius Fucking Black.
Graciously, in some strike of incredible luck, Sirius never caught on to Remus’s silly feelings, not until that night when they were watching an old movie in Remus’s basement while James and Lily were celebrating an entire year together— save for all their sudden stops and just as speedy starts— and Peter was visiting his grandmother in Tampa Bay. It was the first time they had been alone together since Remus broke up with Caradoc for the final time, and Sirius just looked so fucking good in that casual, white v-neck and his skinny jeans that make him look like some echo of James Dean on his best day. And Remus isn’t sure who exactly moved forwards first, or how the fuck Meg Ryan wandering the Seattle streets was some sort of aphrodisiac, or why Sirius— who could have any guy he would ever want— was actually humoring him, but one second they’re lying down on the sofa— Remus caged between Sirius’s expanse and the cushions behind them— and the next he’s tasting PBR on Sirius’s lips, and has got a fist full of his dark hair, and is thrilling at the feeling of Sirius’s thigh between his legs. And yeah— it just happened like those sort of things are want to do, and by the end of it they were sticky and breathless and diffident in ways they never been around one another, in ways Remus reckons Sirius has never been around anyone.
But the next weekend, when Sirius’s latest sorta— but not really— boyfriend had canceled on their dinner plans, Sirius wandered over to Remus’s bedroom window and it was another tumbling of frenzied hands and loosen buckles and thrusting hips. And then it just became an easy release— a sort of poetry, an understanding in all but name.
And that’s fine. They don’t have to talk about it. Remus knows that Sirius isn’t the type to settle down with a partner, to go bowling for a date, or texting countless messages that amount to nothing at all at the end of the conversation, or putting up with another dude’s parents taking photos of them before leaving to prom or homecoming or whatever the fuck else. And Remus is sorta sick of the idea of love, of trying so hard only to end up heartbroken and eating a gallon of Chubby Bunny in his favorite sweats and cursing John Hughes for pretending Hollywood romances can happen to ordinary high schoolers.
So yeah— This thing they’ve fallen into with each other is good. They’re friends— best friends— and they have fun and they’re apparently really fucking good in bed together, and Sirius never looks at Remus with pity when he spots him gazing at his profile absentmindedly, and he doesn’t mind when Remus traces invisible designs against his skin when they’re soaking in the after glow, and he never treats him  any different. Sirius still slings his arm around Remus’s shoulders when they walk down the halls, and he still buys him his favorite chocolates when he feels poorly, and he still faces Dorcas's disapproving wrath when he drags Remus out of the library to have a little mischief— whether it’s smoking a blunt in the abandoned skatepark in town or playing some stupid prank on those assholes in their year.
For all intent and purposes, they still behave the same they’ve always acted around one another, but just with the miraculous addition of mind-blowing and dulcetly ductile sex.
This is good, this is fun, this is completely untethered from the bull shit of romance.
And if Remus mouths against the juncture of Sirius’s neck a little too intensely— trying to pry off the memory of the hickey Sirius had been sporting after spending the weekend with Gideon Prewett— Well no one has to be any the wiser, and by the sound of Sirius’s hitched breaths, he seems not to mind even slightly.
“Except my apology?” Remus asks, more coy than he ordinarily acts as he drops his arms around Sirius’s neck, and leans on the balls of his feet to whisper against his temple.
“Oh, you’re such a bastard,” Sirius retorts, labored as all get out, kneading his fingers into Remus’s ass that’s only covered by the thin layer of his plaid pajama bottoms. “You are going to have to do a lot more for me to forgive the lip.”
Remus laughs in a stammering sort of way as Sirius tugs him along, walking backwards to his room that he’s become incredibly intimate with since the first time they did this three months ago.
“Sirius, the spring rolls— they’re gross if we have to heat them up again.”
“I’ll postmate us knew ones,” Sirius insists, covering Remus’s mouth with his own with fervor. “C’mon babe, do not tease me like this.”
Sirius must’ve caught his mistake, because he suddenly goes as red as Remus feels— The pet name was to close for comfort considering their strictly friends with benefits nature, but Remus is already half hard, and he really does not want to end this, so with a sly wink, he returns to nipping at Sirius’s jawline, rutting against him in a very unambiguous way. “Fine, if you really don’t think you’ll need the nourishment for your stamina?”
The words have their intended effect, and Sirius makes a small growl deep in his throat before practically tearing off Remus’s shirt, and dipping beneath the waistline of his pants, scooping him up and racing to the bed.
And they get lost in one another beneath the pale glow of Remus’s lamplight and the moon spilling through the window, relearning each others every patch of skin for minutes on end that wax and wane like the delta of ocean waves, unspooling into something tangible and tantalizing with every kiss punctuated with teeth that Sirius trails across Remus’s collarbone, and the way Remus palms greedy hands up and down Sirius’s back until he gets the hint and undresses.
“Well come on, you’re not an invalid, Lupin.” Sirius jeers and Remus chuckles as he follows suit until they’re both finally, blessedly nude. And with an easy assurance of them having done this more than a dozen times now, Remus crawls into his lap and kisses him straight on the mouth, preening how Sirius moans against him— canting up wantonly and grabbing at his hips with a sort of intensity that will probably leave bruises in the shape of the pads of his fingers, and Remus absolutely adores the idea of that, feels something hot and needy and desperate unfurl in his gut as he presses their mouths more forcefully together, going buzzed when he gets to relish in the sensation of their tongues running against one another, and the taste of the ridges on the roof of Sirius’s mouth, and the slide of the soft skin of his inner cheek— gasping when Sirius pulls away abruptly, panting an almost reverent, “Mother of God, Remus,” and tackles him flat on his back before they commence, with the addition of both their hard,  leaking cocks thrusting against one another and Sirius’s hand in Remus’s hair pulling that bit more forcefully while his other one roams the dips and planes of his side— skirting against the divots of his stomach muscle before he wraps it around the pair of them and begins to pull in earnest, to the rhythm that Remus swears was strung from the heavens above.
“Oh— Oh, yeah— Sirius,” Remus breathes out in a haggard sort of way, words that he refuses to ever call a mewl even if they’re stretched out and crackle with emotion.
“Yes—, just say that again,” Sirius practically demands, his mouth completely covering his ear in a wet, hot heat— his teeth scraping against the soft shell. “Remus, baby, just say my name, tell me you want it.”
And God, Remus is feeling so heady— like he’s floating and he couldn’t possibly come back down— that he probably would’ve listened to anything Sirius asked of him, especially if he does that thing again, when he squeezes the slick length of them with a tad more force than they usually play at. “Sirius, Sirius. Sirius, please, I’m close,” Remus shrills in an unsteady staccato— his normally smooth tenner going pitchy and pleading, and he can feel his toes curling, can feel the eminent release coming— What he does not expect is to feel something poking at his entrance, didn’t expect to be struck dumb by the sensation of the tip of Sirius’s large, dry finger poking right there, right against the fluttering hole, while he’s still pumping them in tandem, and the second it hooks inside Remus goes a startling sort of static , sees blasts of white blotching his vision and his head thrown back and his dick spirting out heavily against Sirius’s deliciously defined torso.
And he’s just breathing heavily now, during the come down, can barely make out anything  through the heavy weight around him, the one  cushioning his head— but he does graciously feel Sirius’s cock fucking into his own hand against Remus’s thigh and then idly the feeling of his come splattering him, but then after that he can just barely hear the distant padding of feed against floorboards, followed by a wet washcloth being dabbed against his skin. So when he finally forces himself to focus, he sees Sirius cleaning himself off, wrapping it into the pair of joggers Remus was wearing earlier and tosses it to the corner of the room.
“Rude,” he scolds with no heat, shuffling closer to him when Sirius lies down besides him once more and circles an arm around his torso.
“THat’s what you get when you’re acting like a lazy fuck,” Sirius counters, smug as all get out while he threads a hand in Remus’s hair.
“Hmm, didn’t see that in the papers recently. Is it a new law?”
“Yeah, actually just past on the senate floor.”
“Interesting… Well considering that only one of us has a senator for a father, I really have to ask to see the power-point you shared with him to get this bill through the stalemate,” Remus’s head bounces against Sirius’s chest from the force of his laughter at the barb.
“Oh, stuff it, Lupin.”
Hiding his smile into Sirius’s skin, Remus does as told, and they both just lie there, as if everything’s gone suspended just for the pair of them, just so Remus can count out the beats of Sirius’s heart pulsing against his sternum, and can feel the way their legs tie into one another, and can feel Sirius mouthing against his temple, blowing his curls with every exhale.
And Remus thinks that he’d do anything to remember this exact moment for every single day from here on out.
But then the quiet is abruptly and permanently punctured by the sound of his phone chirping, and he has to breathe in deeply before separating from the warmth of Sirius, and fishes down for the device that’s still crammed into the side of his bed from where he had hidden it after that initial text.
“Is Dearborn still on your ass to try again?” Sirius asks, a bit stilted.
Remus wonders if he’s just imagining the tension twisted in the question, but reasons that Sirius’s never been Caradoc’s biggest fan, so he just shrugs it off— really doesn’t want to get into some stupid argument about his asshole of an ex when he’s still feeling so content. “Nah, ’s James. Still trying to force me to go to the homecoming dance with you guys.”
“Oh,” Sirius retorts, lips pinched while watching Remus redress. “You should go, Marls is pregaming and you know she always gets the good shit.”
Remus shakes his head while puttering over to find a new pair of sweats and a sweater. “Nah, just not feeling it this year— Erm, you’re taking Gid I assume.” He’s not sure why he asks it, supposes he’s always a glutton for some pain and shitty feelings to inspire his playlists habit, but also maybe it’s him trying to sober himself. Trying to remember that despite this— despite everything they just did and  how easy it’s always been for them to fall into step with one another— Remus isn’t good enough to be seen with Sirius in the light of day. He’s probably not handsome enough or cool enough or something else that makes Sirius absolutely revolted from the thought. Probably that he’s beyond bookish, and looks painfully virginal and isn’t nearly as sly or snarky as his other conquests.
Truly, Remus should just be thankful that Sirius wants this at all, he shouldn’t be so crazed over the why nots of the situation— it’ll only kill him trying to be something he never could actually affect with any credence.
Schooling his features to something passably indifferent, Remus pivots to face him again, is startled when he finds Sirius still naked and staring at him with a burning sort of intensity in his storm cloud eyes.
“He hasn’t said anything, but I guess he’s assuming as much,” he finally says, running a hand through his overgrown fringe, that familiar twitch of the corner of his mouth grabbing Remus’s attention. The one that tells him Sirius is actually irritated about something he’s not letting himself say out loud.
“Erm, good? Gid’s a decent guy.” Remus mutters, head ducked once it gets to a point that he can’t stand Sirius looking at him like that— Not after how blissed out and ferocious he had been groping every inch of Remus only moments ago. “You guys are nice together.”
And it’s like the breath before the worst of storms when his words collapse between them, making the pregnant silence go suddenly suffocating.
“Right,” Sirius intones once Remus levels their gazes, hurriedly standing and collecting his own clothes, fracturing the moment completely. “Right. Whatever, yeah. I’ll go to the fucking dance with fucking Gideon Prewett. That’s good.”
“Sir—“
“No, it’s fine. You can just stay home, and mourn over that douchebag Dearborn some more, even though you ending it with that dick was the best decision you could’ve made, Remus, and I’m not even saying it just because I’m petty. He is a prick, and you need to finally get a clue how much better you deserve, damn it!”
Remus’s head feels like it’s swimming. Why is Sirius so angry all of a sudden? Does he not like Gideon? Why can’t he just cut it off like so many times before? And why the hell is he petty over Caradoc? The entire situation feels like someone’s just handed him a wedge of Swiss cheese and told him to knit it back together.
“What is up your ass?” He decides is an appropriate enough question for his floundering, and shutters back only slightly at how fuming Sirius looks when he rounds on him— clothes disheveled and fearsome glower heavy on his face.
“Whatever Remus, if you can’t see that Dearborn is bad news—“
“I’m not pining for Dearborn,” Remus interjects, really doesn’t feel like listening to one of Sirius’s ridiculous diatribes about him, not now. Not when he’s still so bewildered by everything else. “Why would you think that?”
The fire in Sirius’s eyes vanishes as quickly as someone blowing on a candle, and it’s his turn to gawk, gaping at Remus, shoulders dragged down and eyes wide. “Wait— You’re not?”
“No…. I haven’t even thought about him for weeks.”
“Oh.” Sirius looks contemplative for a moment, before the righteous anger that only he could ever wear with such conviction, melts over him once more. “All right, then what the fuck is this?”
Remus stiffens, feels his veins lace with ice, an his breath catch somewhere in his throat, really does not think he’s ready for this conversation. “This?”
“Yes, Remus, this!” Sirius demands, sounding harsh in comparison to the barely croak Remus had spoken with. “Listen I don’t care if you want me to wait some more, if you need to lick your wounds or whatever. But why are you like pushing me on other people? Why do you want me not to be around? why do you  want me to go out with other dudes?”
Remus lies back on the chest of drawers now, feels beyond dazed. “What the hell are you talking about, Sirius?”
Sirius clenches his teeth right then, the hinge of his jaw going taught
before he skulks closer, not letting Remus drop his gaze. “Is it me? Is it that you just can’t see me that way? Are you just stringing me along or something? Because I really didn’t think that was your style, but if it’s that, then Remus—“
“Stringing you along?” Remus asks in a voice barely above a whisper, just needs to feel his lips forming the absolutely risible words, even if it makes it so something dark passes across Sirius’s beauteous features.
“Remus, I swear to God! Stop repeating everything I’m fucking saying!”
“Then start making  some damn sense!” Remus snaps, suddenly heated as he straightens and pins him with a proper scowl. “What in holy hell are you going on about?”
“God! Do I have to spell it out!” Sirius barks, cutting the final step dividing them and grabbing for Remus’s shoulders with a tight squeeze. “I know you just wanted to fuck around with someone after Dearborn showed his extreme dickitude, and listen, I was so fucking ecstatic that you wanted me for it. But I can’t do this in-between shit anymore! I’m sorry, but I can’t! And I get if this is annoying, but I’ve been crazy for you for so long. And I just can’t keep myself at an arms length anymore, not now that we’ve really had each other, not after you let me actually touch and taste and fuck you and— Damn it, this isn’t coming out the way I wanted, all right! Damn it, maybe Evans was right and I should’ve made queue cards like some dumb ass— But then James pointed out how unromantic that was, and Marlene said—“
Gently, Remus puts his shaking fingers against Sirius’s lips, effectively killing off anything else he’s about to say. And slowly, everything is beginning to slot into place, and he’s so spiteful over how they’ve been such idiots this entire time— swears to put salt into Lily’s coffee next time he sees her.
“I didn’t know you actually were into me Sirius.”
Stunned, Sirius’s dark brows hike up to his hairline. “How the hell didn’t you know?” He demands against Remus’s fingers, thunderous and insulted looking.
“Because you never fucking said as much!” Remus defends himself, feels a mangled sort of laughter squirming out. “God, we’re idiots.”
“We’re?” Sirius asks, hesitant and red faced before Remus moves his hand to peck softly against his mouth.
“I’ve been half in love with you for years you absolute ass-wipe, it’s always been you! You and always you.” Remus tells him breathily, still fighting down the last remnants of his actual, god forsaken giggle— like he’s thirteen again and getting buzzed off his mom’s peach wine coolers. “I only never said anything because I never thought I’d have a chance with someone like you— Someone so— so— Someone so amazing.”
The smile Sirius favors him with right then is something absolutely incandescent, and his eyes shimmer with a very distinct sort of joy that Remus wonders if anyone besides him has ever witnessed. “Then you’re definitely the biggest idiot between us, Lupin.” Sirius declares, knocking their foreheads together, and lacing his hand into Remus’s own before squeezing meaningfully.
“Fuck off,” Remus snorts, presses forwards for another languorous kiss, not feeling in danger of being swallowed whole any more— finally letting himself drown and knowing that Sirius will be there to pull him back up no matter what.
“Oh, I could get used to this,” Sirius smirks, snakes his arms around Remus’s waste that bit tighter.
“Hmm, there is the problem that I usually don’t put out until at least the third or fourth date,” Remus says mildly.
“Pff, ‘s fine, Lupin,” Sirius insists, grinning beatifically. “I like you being a hussy for me!— Oof, careful with the merchandize, you were speaking some real exaltations about that part of my anatomy not too long ago.”
Moving his knee from the point at hand, Remus sticks out his tongue at him. “See if you ever get any ever again, Sirius Black.”
When Sirius laughs, it sounds like the strike of lightening against unmarked land, and the honey cloaked side of a knife’s edge, and like everything splendid Remus has ever known. And he thinks that yes, he could get used to this right back.

Eve, I LOVE binging your masterlist. I was wondering if I could request a short lil story where someone reminds Jules that since Remus + Sirius got married, then Sirius and Reg are his brothers now too and Jules gets really excited about having TWO more older brothers after Coops' wedding? If not, totally fine!! Have a great year!!
Part 2 of the Coops Wedding series! It’s finally here after my computer was possessed and deleted the first version--this one is just over 4k words, so I hope that makes up for the delay! Sweater Weather credit goes to @lumosinlove <3
Preparations II Part 1
Remus had never been much of a dancer—despite his speed on the ice, he had two left feet and only the barest hint of rhythm. However, dancing at his wedding was a different story.
Sirius twirled him in a small circle, smiling from ear-to-ear as their friends and family spun around them to the beat blasting through the speakers. They still had three hours until sunset, and Remus was planning on spending every second of it with Sirius’ hand in his own. He pulled him in for another kiss—our tenth today? Twentieth? One hundredth? Who cares—and pulled away with a laugh as Jules and Katie bumped into the backs of his thighs.
“Watch it!” he called, ruffling Jules’ hair as they passed in a dramatic tango. Katie shrieked with giggles as Dumo swept her into his arms, spinning her around with a broad smile. Hope took Jules’ hands while Phil Collins began to sing about love, happiness, and everything Remus was already holding in his arms.
“Hey!” Sirius said over the music, giving Remus a squeeze.
“What?”
“I love you!”
“I hope so!” Remus laughed, spinning Sirius under his arm before reeling him in to bump their noses. “Not bad for a wedding we planned in six weeks, eh?”
Sirius shook his head, grinning. “We were engaged for ten months. How did we put that off for so long?”
“Because we’re busy all the fucking time.”
“We’re not going to be busy for three whole months,” Sirius said giddily as he picked Remus up a few inches with ease. He paused for a moment, scanning his face as if he was trying to memorize it.
“What’re you thinking about?” The were close enough that Remus hardly had to raise his voice above a murmur.
“We get to do this every day for the rest of our lives.”
His words hit Remus like a semitruck of affection and tears prickled his eyes as he leaned down for a kiss; Sirius set him down to kiss him properly, hands gently bracketing his jaw. “You are the most incredible person,” Remus said against his lips. “How the hell did I get so lucky?”
“I could ask you the same.” Sirius smiled and rested their foreheads together. “Come on, I think Celeste wants to cut the cake soon.”
Remus looked over at the folding table on the other side of the dance floor and stifled a laugh; Celeste, in her pretty blue party dress, was adjusting the cake by millimeters and glanced at her watch every few seconds, as if she was afraid people were going to leave. “I’m dying to know what she eventually decided on for the flavors.”
Sirius hummed his agreement and pulled Remus along by the hand—they didn’t even have to say anything before the rest of the small crowd followed them and gathered around the table. “Wait, wait, wait!” Celeste gasped, taking her phone out of Dumo’s pocket. After a few seconds of quiet, she nodded and centered it on them. “D’accord.”
“Ready?” Remus set his hand on top of Sirius’ and the hilt of the knife, pushing slowly down as it cut through the white frosting in a smooth glide. It was perfectly baked; not a single crumb stuck to the blade as they pulled it out.
“Here we go,” Sirius muttered as they took the first piece out. “Vanilla!”
“Orange, actually,” Celeste said, beaming. “The next layer is chocolate.”
“Celeste.” Remus gave her a tight hug before passing her along to Sirius, who bent down so she could kiss his cheek.
“Merci, maman,” he said quietly. “C’est parfait.”
“Surprise!” She did little jazz hands before handing them two forks from the end of the table. “Oh, this is so exciting. You have to try it, I don’t know if it’s good. I’ve never made an orange cake before.”
“Hurry up, Cap, we’re hungry!” Logan called from the back of the crowd. Sirius pulled a face at him and carefully slid the piece onto a paper plate before linking his elbow with Remus’.
Remus took a forkful of the cake and held it to Sirius’ mouth—just as he went to eat it, Remus scooted it to the side. “Ope, a little to the left, love.”
“Remus.”
“Oh, you almost had it! Not quite that far.” He could hear Jules giggling and grinned, moving it two inches to the right as Sirius tried to get it a third time.
“Remus!”
“What? It’s not my fault you can’t catch a fork!”
Sirius finally grabbed his elbow and held it in place to get the cake into his mouth, narrowing his eyes at Remus. “Only you would be mean to me on our wedding day.”
“I’m not being mean.” Remus kissed his nose. “Just keeping things interesting.”
“Yeah, yeah, alright.” Sirius got his own bit of cake and held it up. “Close your eyes, sweetheart.”
The second his eyes shut he regretted his decision, but before he could shout a full paper plate of cake smacked into his face with a splat. Everyone gasped, then burst out laughing as the plate fell back down onto the table. Remus slowly wiped frosting from his eyes, flicking it down onto the grass. “That was mean.”
“That was payback,” Sirius corrected.
“See, I would believe you, except I know you’ve been planning to do that for at least three days.”
“Honestly, I’m surprised you didn’t do it first,”
“C’mere, you.” Remus reached half-blindly for his tie, pulling him in for a sugary kiss and feeling around with his other hand for the plate. He pulled away and, before Sirius could open his eyes, smushed the leftover cake right onto his forehead.
Sirius licked his lips. “Celeste, the cake is fantastic. Do you think it’ll moisturize?”
She was laughing too hard to respond, but she blew him a kiss in between drying her eyes. Remus took a napkin of his own and wiped his face off, licking as much of it off his hands as he could. “Oh, please don’t wait for us to clean up,” he said, motioning the still-laughing crowd forward. “We’ll be here for a while.”
“Whose fault is that?” Sirius teased.
“Yours!”
They ended up ducking into the kitchen to wash up while Dumo and Celeste passed out slices of cake. “I hope there will be some left over for us,” Sirius said as Remus washed the crumbly frosting from his hair. “From the little I got, it was amazing.”
“Yeah, she nailed the orange flavor.” Remus leaned on the front of the sink, watching people mill around or return to the dance floor for one more song before enjoying their cake. The buzz of their mingled voices dripped with joy and he smiled to himself, soaking in the feeling of his family’s happiness.
Warm arms encircled his waist as Sirius’ chin rested on his shoulder. They said nothing and waited in utter silence until Remus laced their fingers together and headed back out into the summer sunshine.
----------------------------
An hour later, a dozen mismatched plates of food laid decimated on the folding table with a quarter of a wedding cake left as James headed toward the dance floor alone, clutching a piece of paper. He stopped just in front of Remus and Sirius’ table and winked at them.
“Hey, everyone. If you don’t know me, which I find difficult to believe for a number of reasons, I’m James Potter, the groom’s best friend. Yes, both of them.” He paused for a moment to let the laughter roll through. “However, I didn’t want a fight to break out over who got to have me as their best man—”
“There was no fight,” Remus corrected with a grin. “The loser got you, Pots.”
“And a lucky loser he is,” James shot back playfully before clearing his throat. “I met Sirius Black six and a half years ago, when he was eighteen and awkward. We were both awkward, actually, but he had this uncanny ability to make it look cool while I tripped over my own feet.
“The minute I met Sirius, I knew we were going to be friends. He was quiet, a little shy, and didn’t really know how talk to people. In that way, we were exactly alike.” The laughter was even louder that time and Sirius shook his head. “Ah, who am I kidding. I adopted Sirius as my best friend because I thought it would be hilarious to corrupt him.”
James glanced down at Sirius with a smile. “While I attempted to make an extrovert out of him, I learned several important things: number one, he is the least extroverted person I’ve ever met. Two, he is one of the kindest, funniest people on the planet. And three, my life had been severely lacking without him in it.”
A soft ‘aww’ washed over the group and Remus ran his thumb over Sirius’ knuckles.
James looked back at the other tables as he continued. “Sirius Black is known to most of the world as one of the best hockey players of our time. To me, he’s the dorky little brother I never had, and I am so, so proud of him. I’ve had the privilege of watching him open up, not only to me, but to everyone else on the team that he loves with that big soft heart. When my son was born—you all know my son, right? I think I have a picture here somewhere—”
“No!” half the group shouted as James grinned.
“Just making sure you’re still awake. Anyway, when my son was born, naming Sirius godfather was literally the easiest thing I’ve ever done. I kinda sat back went ‘hmm, who is the first person I can think of to entrust with my child’s life?’ and the only natural decision was the one who is terrified of children.”
“Terrified is a bit of a strong word,” Sirius complained, though his eyes were shining.
“My bad, you’re petrified by children,” James corrected. “But in all seriousness—sorry, couldn’t resist—in all seriousness, I couldn’t think of anyone better suited to the job. I think that tells you everything you need to know about Sirius, actually. Even when he’s scared to death, he goes out of his way to help people when they need it.
“Sirius, however happy you are right now—and you’re basically glowing—I need you to know that it’s one tenth of how happy you have made the people you love.” James’ voice got a little tight and Sirius took an unsteady breath. “You are a natural leader and a great hockey player, but most importantly, you are an outstanding friend. You deserve every good thing coming your way, today and for the rest of your life. As your best man and your best friend, I’ll be there whenever you call.”
Sirius sniffled as James wiped his cheeks dry and turned to Remus. “Loops, take care of my little brother, alright?”
“You got it, Pots,” Remus said, barely above a whisper.
James nodded, then raised his glass of champagne. “To Sirius and Remus, and all the happiness they deserve.”
A loud cry of “cheers!” went up, followed by thunderous applause as Sirius got up and wrapped James in a full-body hug, nearly knocking them both over. They separated after a moment and James stood on his toes to kiss the top of Sirius’ head before they went back to their respective places.
“You okay?” Remus murmured, linking their hands together again.
“Fuck, I knew he was going to make me cry.” Sirius shook his head with a smile and sniffled once again. “Yeah, I’m alright.”
Lily raised an eyebrow as she stood James’ place. “Y’know, Re, I seem to recall you promising me a microphone if I did this.”
“Sorry to disappoint!” Remus called back, feeling a flutter of nerves in his stomach. Lily had refused to share any of her speech with him; when he tried to sneakily grab it once, she shoved it down her shirt and glared until he left the room.
“I’ll get over it.” She rubbed her fingers along the edge of her paper and sighed. “I’ve written and rewritten this speech about a dozen times since Re asked me to do it, but just being here—” She took a moment and blinked back tears. “It’s different. Just ignore me if I cry, okay?
Lily cleared her throat and turned back to the paper. “I met Remus Lupin six and a half years ago, on the same day James met Sirius for the first time. Personally, I think we should make that day a national holiday, since it irrevocably changed the course of both our lives. James found his best friend and little brother, and I found my Remus.
“One of the first things you will notice when you meet Remus is that he is friend shaped.” Several murmurs of agreement rippled through the crowd and Lily winked at Remus as he flushed pink. “Told you so. Honestly, Remus is one of those people who just exudes kindness. When I found out I was pregnant, he was the first person I told besides James. I knew Remus would not only keep my secret, but also be there in whatever capacity I needed because he cares. Truly, madly, deeply.”
Lily looked over to them with a soft, fond expression that made Remus’ stomach twist into knots. “In Sirius’ vows, he said you were sunshine through dark clouds, which is quite possibly my favorite descriptor of all time. It’s really sappy and cute, for one thing, but also true. Re, you bring light and warmth wherever you go. As someone who has been on the receiving end of that light, I can tell you that it is absolutely overwhelming in the best way. There are few places I feel safer than around you.
“And now we’re here, where you just married the love of your life.” The first tear slid down Lily’s cheek, dipping into her dimple as Remus’ own tracked down his chin. “God, Re, this is incredible. You two get to be together for the rest of your lives, and the rest of us have the best seat in the house to one of the greatest love stories of this century! I mean, c’mon, how many people can say they’ve made it through everything you did?”
Lily sniffled and raised her glass, though she maintained eye contact with him the whole time. “To Remus and Sirius, who remind us all what it looks like to be in love, even when the whole world tries to stand against you.”
A second ‘cheers’ began, but Remus was already on his feet and crashing into Lily, pulling her close as she clutched the back of his suit jacket. “I love you, Lils,” he choked out. “That was fucking incredible.”
“Love you too, Re.” She pulled back and carefully smudged her hands under her eyes to keep her makeup intact. “Ugh, sorry if I ruined your jacket with the waterworks.”
“You’re in good company.” She kissed each of his cheeks and fluffed the front of his hair up, making them both laugh as she took her seat again and Remus moved past his table with a last look to Sirius.
His mother’s eyes grew shiny with unshed tears as he held his hand out and guided her to the dance floor, where they swayed back and forth as Here Comes the Sun started to play, gentle and smooth. “Oh, you,” Hope managed as the lyrics began and Remus twirled her slowly. “I bet your father’s crying even though he’s not dancing.”
Remus glanced over to their table—as always, she was right. “He is. God, you’re good.”
“That’s what happens when you’ve been married for twenty-seven years,” she said, eyes crinkling. “Someday, that’s going to be you.”
He huffed softly. Don’t cry on mom, don’t cry on mom, don’t cry on mom. “You can’t just say stuff like that. It’s like kicking me while I’m down!”
“Little darlin’, it seems like years since it’s been clear,” she sang with a grin, tapping his nose. “Here comes the sun, dodododo, here comes the sun, and I say…”
“It’s all right,” Remus finished under his breath. The dance was over in an instant and after a thousand years at the same time—all too soon, people were clapping as they made their way back to the tables and Sirius walked over to Celeste.
She covered her mouth with her hands as he offered an arm, then nodded and accompanied him to the dance floor. He whispered something and she laughed, looping her arms around his neck with a bit of a stretch as a French song Remus had never heard came through the speakers and softened their smiles.
They talked quietly as they danced; Celeste was as elegant as ever and Sirius could be quite graceful when he put his mind to it. She traced his cheekbones with her thumbs and he closed his eyes, looking utterly at peace. Remus’ heartstrings tugged at the sight and he rested his chin on his hand, letting the waltz roll over him.
More applause followed their dance as Celeste held him in a tight embrace until a more upbeat song began and couples mobbed the dance floor. Sirius downed half his water in one gulp before sitting down with a heavy sigh, and dropped his forehead onto Remus’ shoulder. “You looked good out there,” Remus said, running a hand through his hair.
“So did you. I can’t feel my feet anymore.”
“I think we’re supposed to dance at our wedding.”
“I’m so hungry.”
Remus groaned; between the endless congratulations and conversations after the ceremony, they had no time to enjoy the assorted dishes people brought. “Same. We should go somewhere after this.”
“Other than home?”
“Home…” Remus trailed his lips to Sirius’ ear. “Is for other plans. Food happens elsewhere.”
“Good plan,” Sirius said, a little breathless as he sat back up and stood with a stretch. “Come on, sweetheart, the dance floor awaits.”
---------------------------
Thirty minutes after the sun set and Adele’s perfect fairy lights lit up the backyard, the party finally started winding down. Finn had fallen asleep with his head on Leo’s shoulder about ten minutes prior, but nobody had the heart to wake him; as the best dancer of the group, he had been a hot commodity for anyone looking to show off in addition to whirling both his boyfriends around.
Jules stumbled over to Remus and curled up in his lap without warning, snuggling his face into his chest with a jaw-cracking yawn. Regulus came up behind them a moment later, resting his hands on Sirius’ shoulders and scaring the daylights out of him. “Jesus f—frick, Reg!” he yelped, holding a hand over his heart.
“Sorry.” He didn’t look very apologetic as he turned to Remus. “Jules has been asking for you.”
“Oh, yeah?” Remus looked down and brushed the soft bangs from his eyes. “What’s up, buddy?”
“I love you,” Jules mumbled. “You got married. That’s so cool.”
Remus smiled. “It really is. Thanks for being the ring-bearer, by the way. You did a great job.”
Jules made a muffled noise before wrapping his arms around Remus’ waist with a sigh. “Mmkay. G’night.”
“You can’t fall asleep yet!” Remus tickled his side lightly. “We’re almost done, I promise.”
“What time is it?” Jules cracked an eye open and fumbled for his wrist, turning Remus’ hand over to check. “It’s not even ten! Why am I tired?”
“You’ve had a busy day. Do you know where mom and dad are?”
“Still talking.”
Remus surveyed the crowd and quickly spotted them next to the cubs, sipping water and sharing a piece of cake. He stood carefully, making sure Jules was steady on his hip before heading toward the table with Sirius and Regulus in tow. “We’ve got a tired munchkin,” he whispered when they arrived, depositing Jules into the chair next to his mother; within moments, Jules laid his head on the table.
“Love you, Re,” he said as he tucked his arms under his head. “Best big brother.”
“Best of all three?” Logan gasped in mock-surprise.
“Three?” Jules sat up straight and gave him a confused look. It was made extra adorable by the crooked cowlick decorating the whole right side of his head. “I only have one.”
“Now that Remus and Sirius are married, you’ve got two more big brothers,” Logan reminded him. “Regulus and Sirius count.”
“That’s crazy,” Jules yawned, cocking his head at the brothers. “Re is still my favorite, but you’re awesome and I love you, too.”
Regulus made a soft sound and Sirius kissed the top of Jules’ head. “Don’t tell anyone, but you’re my favorite Lupin,” he stage-whispered, laughing as Remus rolled his eyes.
Jules frowned. “You married one of us, and it sure wasn’t me.”
“Alright, second favorite,” Sirius conceded with a grin as the rest of the table laughed.
“Mama, I’m tired.” Jules traced the bead patterns on Hope’s dress.
“Okay, lovey, we can go home soon.” She raised an eyebrow at Remus and he nodded. “Do you want to say some goodbyes first?”
“We’ll see everyone tomorrow. ‘s okay.”
Lyall gathered Jules into his arms, then turned to Remus and pulled him close with a kiss to his forehead. “So proud of you, kiddo.” He looked over at Sirius for a moment. “Take good care of him, eh?”
“Sir, yes sir.” Sirius pressed a kiss to Remus’ temple as they separated, then moved aside for Hope.
She scanned his face for a moment, then touched their foreheads together. “Good luck, baby. Not that you need it, but you deserve it anyway.”
Remus pulled them both back in for a family hug, feeling Jules drape a drowsy arm around the back of his neck. “Thank you so much for being here. It means—it means everything to me.”
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Lyall whispered. “Now go, you two haven’t eaten anything tonight.”
“Thank you,” both of them breathed at the same time, sending the whole group into a fit of laughter.
They said a few more ‘thank you’s and goodbyes until the other Lions started a loud, incoherent cheer and all but chased them toward Sirius’ car, where a small ‘Just Married’ sign had been stuck on the back window. They were planning on keeping the wedding a secret from the media as long as they could—the reaction would be even more hilarious the longer they waited.
“What if—” Remus broke off into snickering as they pulled out of the Dumais’ driveway. “What if nobody notices?”
“What? That we’re married?” Sirius gave him a disbelieving look. “People are going to figure it out so fast, no matter how many times Pots changes the subject.”
Remus hummed and rested his hand on Sirius’ thigh as he drove, tapping along to the rhythm of the radio; the route was familiar to them both, even after the chaos of the day. A slow, unstoppable smile made his cheeks hurt. “We got married.”
“Damn right, we did.”
“Scuse me for a moment.” Remus rolled down his window and cleared his throat, then leaned out and whooped loud enough that people in the next state would probably be able to hear it. He calmly closed it once more, fighting down a smile. “Sorry, I just had to get that out.”
Sirius slowed and rolled his own window down, sticking his head out into the empty night air. “I got married!” he shouted at the top of his lungs with a wild grin. “I have a husband now! Just thought you should know!”
“Husband,” Remus mused as the car started moving again. “Hmm. I like the sound of that.”
“Me, too.”
