Sporting Dynamite: The team making an impact
Goals at one end, fighting at the other. Sporting Dynamo play some of the best Sunday league football in Leicestershire. It’s their no-nonsense attitude however, that has put them in the nations spotlight. Yellow on their skin but red in their blood, Stephen Graham lives in this small town but it’s Dynamo showing why This is England.
Tumblr media
The 2023/24 Sporting Dynamo team in the new away kit.
Asked to describe the team, Club Secretary Harry Taylor said: “It’s took a long time to get to where we’re at now, but these lads play 2024 football with a 2000’s attitude, if you know what I mean. The beautiful game needs monsters and we provide exactly that.”
Last season saw Dynamo bring home silverware to the town of Ibstock, Leicestershire, for the first time since 2014. Even more surprisingly, they manged it on two occasions.
Leading up to April, they found themselves top of the league and a semi-final away from reaching the Arthur Moore Cup Final, in their way, Oadby Owls. 2-2 in normal time saw the cagey affair go to extra time. Oadby hit the woodwork twice before winger Giorgio Stylianou wrapped it into the top right corner sealing Dynamo's date with destiny.
The 28th of April would prove to be a day in the history books as a dominant 3-0 display, crowned them Arthur Moore Cup champions against a hardworking CFA (Community Football Academy) team.
A scent of a second piece of silverware in the Billy Walton cup spread like a virus on the fifth of May and as the sun set, Dynamo battled hard against Sileby Athletic. 1-1 at halftime meant everything was to play for but despite the yellow flares that engulfed the pitch, defender George Ludlam only saw one colour. Red. Shortly after Sileby grabbed a second, all but securing the cup. Dynamo defeated; despair drowned out the short-lived victory of the previous week, but all was not done.
Cup sorrows had to be paused as just 2 days after, Dynamo needed to defeat rivals Braunstone Athletic if they were to keep their league dreams alive. 89 minutes on the clock. 0-0. Up stepped Richard Lewis with a buzzer beater. Coolest man on the pitch. Keepers head in hands. Absolute chaos. One game to go.
Tumblr media
A final day, nitty-gritty 0-0 meant Dynamo double dreamland, on goal difference, against all the odds.
“Since I came here in 2018, we've not had a team with this kind of ability so to have done it on the last day, after the trouble we had in the Sunday Cup, I think we deserve it” added Taylor.
A point deduction was given to Dynamo after tempers flared between the two sets of fans in the FA Sunday Cup against Nottingham based Poets Young Boys FC. They fell to a 4-2 loss, but this wouldn't be the last time they'd come across cup drama.
The 23/24 has brought new challenges as the team aim to add to last season's silverware.
“I could not be prouder of them for what they did last season, and neither could those who support them from the sidelines. This season's achievements again show the huge strides we’ve made as a collective.” Taylor said, when talking about how far the club has come, and he's not wrong.
The Dyna have gone unbeaten this season in the league and are well on their way to win The Alliance Football League once more.
Striker Kyle Jardine has been the shining light in his team this season and is no fool when it comes to providing in front of goal. 18 goals and 7 assists show why he's the truth. Jardine is garden in French, so it is no surprise seeing him move like the Boogey-man on oppositions home turfs.
Discussing his contribution to the team, Jardine said, “The numbers speak for themselves, 18 goals this season and over 40 for my Saturday team, it's no fluke, but that's my job and if we’re winning, I can see myself staying here for a long time.”
Tumblr media
Jardine in action for his Saturday team, Heather St. Johns.
At 21 years old, the talent has played a crucial role and is far from done, most recently scoring in his Dynamo’s run in the FA Sunday Cup. In the round of 32 they came up against Royston Rovers FC and for the first time, their on-pitch antics would be made available to the whole world.
Tackles even Vinnie Jones would look away from. The monsters had arrived. A spill from a free kick saw Dynamo draw first blood as Jardine made no mistake converting.
Midfielder Jimmy Chandler entered the pitch in the second half, suspectedly biting an opposition player, turning the wrestling match into a hell in the cell. Dynamo struck once more, and it was none other than Chandler himself who sealed their fate.
An online video of the game went viral and displays the definition of a rough and tumble encounter, highlighting exactly why the nation lives for the rawness of Sunday league football.
The Following round saw Dynamo fall to a 4-1 defeat against eventual finalists Trooper FC, but spirits were high post match and showed just why they named themselves the best supported team in Sunday league.
There are somethings money simply can’t buy, and that’s heart. This SD is one even Mike Ashley couldn’t own. At the centre of their community, they’re no strangers to getting fans involved.
Sporting Dynamo organise a yearly, fan-favourite, bike-ride-pub-crawl for the team and supporters with money going to charity. Additionally, they have an annual golf and darts tournament at the local pub that welcomes all to get involved and it seems to have paid off with more locals coming to support.
Tumblr media
Dynamo attendance post Covid-19.
“I think that's what sets us apart from many other teams, our support, and I'm sure the lads and Harry would agree. They play a big part in our success, so our victories are as much theirs as ours,” Jardine said, when talking about what makes Sporting Dynamo unique.
A push in attendance has also made more money available for the club, helping to refurbish the café and purchase an away kit.
Most recently Dynamo have landed in hot water once more following their semi-final in the Arthur Moore cup which was abandoned following a mass brawl between both fans and players. They now face potential expulsion from both the cup and league.
Taylor said, “We’ll see what our options are in the coming weeks, I hope we carry on, we provide a lot of joy for the fans”
The future for the club is unknown for now. Unfortunately, the football they play is not a problem, but their aggressive nature could prove them to be masters of their own downfall.

Forty years ago, the BBC broadcast its adaptation of the John Le Carré novel Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy for the first time. Starring Sir Alec Guinness as George Smiley, the master spy hunting down a Soviet mole in the British intelligence services, it provoked controversy. Largely over whether it made any sense or not.
While Nancy Banks-Smith, in her review for the Guardian, called Tinker Tailor “the very best caviar”, Clive James in the Observer was of a different mind. “The first instalment,” he wrote, “fully lived up to the standard set by the original novel. Though not quite as incomprehensible, it was equally turgid.”
You get the feeling, from the way James begrudgingly warmed to the drama as it ran its course (“Anything can improve,” he wrote, “even Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, of which the latest episode was a good deal less wearisome than the previous three”), that some of the invective was for effect. But he was not alone in finding the material challenging. Working out whether you had a clue what was going on in Tinker Tailor became something of a national pastime. Larry Grayson even joked about it in the Generation Game.
In 2019, it is not just the bluffs and double bluffs (and treble and quadruple bluffs) that viewers might find baffling. It is the world in which the drama is set, the way its inhabitants behave and what – if anything – they believe in. Tinker Tailor very much remains TV caviar. But it is also, from today’s vantage point, a remarkable insight into a different time, one that itself offered a window on to another, dying world.
Tinker Tailor’s director, John Irvin, now 79, is one of the few people still alive who was involved in the production. His understanding of what the story required, he says, was filtered through values born of empire. “What we wanted to reveal dramatically was the complexity of the secret state,” he says. “The contradictions, the betrayals of loyalty. The aspect that I latched on to, I think, the one I felt personally, was the idea of service. Christian service and service to country. How that sense of Christian service could be corrupted into the most mendacious and reckless behaviour was something I was preoccupied with throughout the telling of the story.”
While we are still living in a Britain ruled by public school elites, this aristocratic concept of service would appear long gone. In 2019, it is a struggle to find anyone articulating a case for “doing good”, even disingenuously. Tinker Tailor may be a story about betrayal, the hunt for a mole at the heart of MI6, but it occurs in a world defined by rules and procedures. In the modern era, with all its disruption and executive action, that seems odd. A final jarring dissonance between Smiley’s world and ours is the aesthetic of it all, the drab locations and sallow flesh. It depicts a country wearing its decline on its sleeve. Our contemporary age would never admit to as much (and indeed it did not in the 2011 film version, where everything was carefully stylised and in the colour scheme of a 70s sitcom).
Watching Tinker Tailor today, you feel teleported: you get the thrill of watching something that is complex, that you can’t quite make sense of but desperately wish to. (In 1979, the debate over Tinker Tailor’s complexity continued into the Guardian’s letters pages, with the counterpoint to the Larry Grayson position being articulated by a Dr Graham Nicholls, who made the case that “People love being mystified”.)
You also get to watch something that is slow and often silent, and all the more powerful for that. “Arthur [Hopcraft] in his dialogue left a lot of space for silence,” says Irvin of the celebrated Guardian journalist who went on to a brief but glittering career as a screenwriter. “It wasn’t like working with Pinter, where it was deliberate, but it gave a chance to see what’s going on behind the mask. A spy story is a succession of masks. It’s poker – the silence is when you are trying to read the other’s mind. If people talk a lot, they’re not going to be very good spies. The trick was in timing the silence so that you don’t overdo it and it becomes tedious, but leaving it long enough that it became tantalising.”
Those moments worked as Irvin hoped, and form the centre of Tinker, Tailor. They are like the extended interrogations in Line of Duty, except the tension is more drawn out and there are more gaps the viewer is encouraged to fill. Those interrogations would not have been remotely as effective, however, had they not featured one of the greatest acting performances ever delivered on the small screen.
Sir Alec Guinness, it was suggested at the time, was able to play Smiley because he was rolling in Star Wars money. His reluctance to take the part of Obi-Wan Kenobi had led him to ask for 2% of the film’s box office takings. That turned out to be a smart move and allowed Guinness some latitude in selecting his next roles. According to Irvin, however, that did not mean he leapt at the prospect of Tinker, Tailor. “He needed three lunches with me and certainly a lunch with David [Cornwell, AKA John Le Carré] and the head of MI6 to be convinced that he would commit.”
Eventually he did commit, and Guinness set about fully engaging with a character he described to the Guardian at the time as being “a vulnerable man who … is capable of taking unexpectedly swift and rather harsh action”.
For Irvin, working with Guinness was “a deep, creative partnership”, but it had its strengths and weaknesses. Guinness’s pull meant that the supporting cast – from Ian Richardson to Beryl Reid – were easy to acquire. Requiring more time and patience, however, was Guinness himself.
“Like a lot of great artists, there were moments of great insecurity,” Irvin says. “He rang me at four o’clock in the morning on a Sunday before a shoot, saying that he hadn’t really found George Smiley and that it would be much better if we just recast. He also said that he couldn’t put on any more weight, he didn’t feel right.
“I don’t know whether it was a provocation or not, but this made me quite angry. I said: ‘It’s not about the size of George Smiley’s tummy; it’s about the size of his massive brain, for heaven’s sake.’ We were about to shoot in two hours, so I said: ‘Let’s go back to sleep, we’ve got to get some rest.’ A little later I arrive at Primrose Hill and he’s standing entirely alone in an overcoat and bowler hat, ready to shoot the scene. Any hint of that insecurity had entirely gone.”
Guinness’s insecurity existed alongside the confidence to insist the UK’s chief spy dine with him before he accepted the job. And the same stark contrast is at work in Smiley, too. A paunchy, aged cuckold who looks too frail even to leave his chair, he is capable of plumbing the depths of the human psyche and confronting them.
The contradiction within Smiley served as a reminder that human beings are complicated things, and this complexity is the heart of what makes Tinker Tailor one of the best dramas of the TV age. A lot has changed in the years since it was made, but not that.

(𝙋𝙀𝙉)𝙉𝘼𝙈𝙀: Rex (believe it or not, this was suggested by one of my older Merlin writers. Previously I went by another penname - hence ooc @sparringett) 𝙋𝙍𝙊𝙉𝙊𝙐𝙉𝙎: they/them 𝙕𝙊𝘿𝙄𝘼𝘾: libra sun, aquarius moon, aries rising 𝙎𝙄𝙉𝙂𝙇𝙀 / 𝙏𝘼𝙆𝙀𝙉: married (and it’s complicated)

𝙞. I am bisexual and I am a Christian. I really really love being gay and being accepted by Jesus Christ. It’s bloody amazing. All the religious fundamentalists out there have no idea. Silly sausages.
𝙞𝙞. I am a huge dog person. If you interact with me on discord it is likely you have already been met with one or two pics of my dog. Caesar’s helped me through some tough times and continues to do so. A dog loves unconditionally. Man’s best friend, without a shadow of a doubt.
Actually, have a picture:

𝙞𝙞𝙞. My big dream is not actually to publish a best-selling novel. I’d like to be a songwriter and release an album. Again, doesn’t have to be phenomenally successful - just known of and respected within the indie music scene.
— 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚
I’ve been writing creatively since I could write. RPing for the last 20-odd years. The first character I ever RPed was an OC Entwife. Yes, one of those that got fed up and left Middle-Earth early because the Ents seemed to do fuck all and simply let the humans, wizards and orcs wreck the forests for so long it became unbearable. I can’t remember her name, I think she was affiliated to the Californian redwoods. I was 12 years old. Anyway, puberty hit, and then all my muses suddenly became male, bar one, so Arthur is actually just the latest in a long line of... uhh, mostly blond males. James Kirk, Raoul Silva (ok he dyed his hair but whatever), Heath Ledger’s Joker, Simm!Master. I’m not sure why this happens but it’s happened enough to be noticeable. Although, I do have Tom Riddle and Will Graham to fly the flag for the brunets.
— 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚
Mostly males. Mostly villains actually. Raoul Silva, Tom Riddle, the Joker (Heath Ledger) Will Graham, Arthur Pendragon (as a demonically possessed vampire), the Master (Simm!portrayal) and (sadly) Daenerys Targaryen verge into this territory. I have got Arthur who is fundamentally a good boy, to balance things out. Also, I write as Capaldi’s Doctor, aka the love is kind and always wise doctor to help with managing the bad boys (and girl), while being a grumpy asshole about it xD
— 𝙨𝙪𝙗-𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙧𝙚𝙨
Lots of angst. Happy Endings. Very simple. Although within that if an author drops in: hurt/comfort, soulmates, first time, D/s, childhood trauma, UST (until it isn’t), polyships, fem!slash ... I will probably jump for that fic / plot that bit faster. Any fandom involving DRAGONS is also a big big pull.
— 𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙩𝙨 𝙫𝙨. 𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙨
I love to plot. I really should devote more time to fanficcing, but RPing just keeps drawing me in. Some of my longest threads on arthur-rex though did start out as memes, so... I’m not against using them. I’m really fine with writing in whatever way works best with my RP partner. I do like the long, complex stories though, so if we start writing together, buckle up because you’ll likely be in for the long haul.

pick 10 ships without reading the questions.
I have more than 10 ships to list lol 😂 but i will pick some of my all time favorites and i will add some new
1. Aziraphale/ Crowley (Good Omens)
Tumblr media
2. Edward Nygma / Oswald Cobblepot ( Gotham)
Tumblr media
3. Dean Winchester / Castiel ( Supernatural)
Tumblr media
4. Villanelle/ Eve ( Killing Eve)
Tumblr media
5. Merlin / Arthur ( BBC Merlin)
Tumblr media
6. Will Graham / Hannibal Lecter ( Hannibal tv series)
Tumblr media
7. Barry Allen / Iris West ( The Flash)
Tumblr media
8. Ray Palmer / Nora Darhk ( Legends of Tomorrow)
Tumblr media
9. Ava Sharpe / Sara Lance ( Legends of Tomorrow )
Tumblr media
10. Yennefer / Geralt ( The Witcher )
Tumblr media
1. Do you remember the episode/scene/chapter that you first started shipping 6?
I don't remember exactly from which episode but there was a scene where Hannibal got really close to Will and started to smell him 😄 this was really intense
2. Have you ever read a FanFiction about 2?
More than 100 i think 😂 is one of these ships i have read the most fanfics
3. Has a picture of 4 ever been your screen saver/profile picture/tumblr?
Yes and i have a sideblog about Killing Eve @lovemesomevillanelle too many fandoms to have them all in one blog 😄
4. If 7 were to suddenly break-up today, what would your reaction be?
You hit a sensitive spot here , i consider myself new to the Flash fandom its only a few months since i discovered this show but i noticed that there are a lot haters of this ship and some fans even made recist comments about Iris and the actress who plays her, i would be devastated if these two break up because they are perfect for each other and i will forever support their relationship @sweetbarryallen is my flash sideblog
5. Why is 1 so important?
Its been a year since Good Omens series came in our lifes well the book is much older but the series had such a huge success, i still can't get over these two lovable idiots who love each other since the beginning of time this ship gives me hope and warms my heart with all kinds of feelings
6. Is 9 a funny ship or a serious ship?
Both? these two amazing women are made for each other and i totally enjoy their serious and funny moments the same amount
7. Out of all of the ships listed, which ship has the most chemistry?
I guess the success of a ship and the reason a duo or a couple is shipped from the fans has to do with the chemistry the actors bring to the screen but there were a lot of cases where fanfiction writers created such a great stories for the readers to make them ship even characters who had limited interaction on the screen and that's the power of imagination, to me all the ships have chemistry
8. Out of all of your ships listed, which ship has the strongest bond?
I would say Ineffable husbands because the know each other since forever , who can beat that ?😂
9. How many times have you read/watched 8’s fandom?
DC's Legends of Tomorrow is a new show for me i managed to watch all Seasons till 4th as i write this in almost a month , before i reached S3 where Nora makes her appearance i had seen/ read some spoilers that she and Ray would end up together, Ray Palmer is my most favourite character from lot and when i found out about this ship i was so happy because he deserves all the love and so does Nora Darhk. Nora is such a great written character her development to the show is one of the best. You can guess my reaction when i also found out that the actors who play these characters are married in real life , this ship is everything and to answer this question i have searched about this ship too many times to count but i wish there were more fan videos of DarhkAtom on the internet
10. Which ship has lasted the longest?
I think Aziraphale and Crowley because of the years since the book published and there were fans of this ship even then, second ship who lasted longest is Destiel because of the years Supernatural has on screen
11. How many times, if ever, has 2 broken up?
If you are a Gotham and nygmobblepot fan then you know all about this ship's love and hate relationship , these two crazy idiots almost kill each other but they can't live without each other
12. If the world was suddenly thrust into a zombie apocalypse, which ship would make it out alive, 2 or 8?
Both? i think Ray Palmer with his atom suit abilities and Nora with her magic have more chances to make out alive though i wouldn't underestimate Ed's and Os's surviving skills in times of danger, they are both so clever and cunning that i am more concerned about zombies well being than the two of them 😂
13. Did 5 ever have to hide their relationship for any reason?
Merlin and Arthur never become canon but to the fans Merlin and Arthur have feelings for each other , they hide their feelings since they know each other i wish this ship was canon on screen
14. Is 4 still together?
Killing Eve season 3 delivered this year the best finale in my opinion of all seasons , Villanelle and Eve have feelings for each other that's canon now and i hope in S4 they will live and work together as a couple
15. Is 3 canon?
Not for the writers still not canon but the fans with me included we hope before the show ends completely the writers stop this torment and give us what Destiel fans are praying for years , our ship to become canon
16. If all 10 ships were put into a couple’s Hunger Games, which couple would win?
This is hard, i don't know i guess all have their chances to win " may the odds be ever in your favor" lol
17. Has anybody ever tried to sabotage 10’s ship?
Jaskier ? Lol 😂😂😂 truth is that Yennefer is my favourite character from the show the Witcher but Jaskier is also my favourite and i may ship Yennefer with Geralt but since i got to this fandom is hard not to notice the chemistry between Geralt and Jaskier 😄 love both ships the same
18. Which ship would you defend to the death and beyond?
All i can't pick one
19. Do you spend hours a day going through 1’s tumblr page?
YES 😂
20. If an evil witch descended from the sky and told you that you had to pick one of the ten ships to break up forever or else she´d break them all forever, which ship would you sink?
Ahhh this is so hard i can't choose sorry
Tagging some lovely people @penguinsheart , @mishandjen-tellmehow , @vicarious-rebel , @its-all-ineffable , @ramblingsofachristiannerd , @littlehollyleaf , @jawnlockwinchester , @thisplacehaseverything , @littleangel4996 @your-mad-tea-party-blog @itotallygazeatscully, @belle82devart @skatle-skootle-demon-noodle @lesbian-and-useless @quakerlasss, @whitecrawace and everyone who see this post and wants to do this

Regina’s BFF Awards: Season 5
5x01 The Dark Swan
Tumblr media
Regina: How could she be so stupid? David: Regina! Regina: Well, there had to be another way. Mary Margaret: There wasn't. That thing was going to kill you. She saved your life. Regina: Don't you think I know that? Henry: And now she's the... Dark One. Regina: Now she's a problem for all of us. Mary Margaret: She is still good. Regina: I hope so. It's not like she rode off on a unicorn. She got sucked up by a vortex of evil! Robin Hood: Where is she? Where's she gone? Hook: It doesn't bloody well matter. Robin Hood: Mate, don't. Hook: Get out of my way. If I can't find her, I can damn well bring her to me. Dark One, with this dagger I command thee: Return! Dark One, appear! Regina: Put that thing down before you hurt yourself, Guyliner. I thought you knew the dagger's rules? Hook: With it, I can summon the Dark One from any corner of the world. Regina: Well, there's your answer. She's not in this world.
Regina has a real problem with Emma saving people’s lives. In S3 it was Neal. In S4 it was Marian. This time it’s her own.
But lets see whose on Emma’s side here and whose not?
Regina is ready to think the worse of Emma... why? Why does she immediately jump to the conclusion that Emma has gone full dark one? Snow doesn’t jump to that conclusion. Neither does Killian. Killian is ready to fight for her not against her.
And to add to this, she has to throw in an insult to Killian.
5x02 The Price
Tumblr media
Regina wastes no time in using the dagger against Emma. And she uses it so that she can play Savior. Steal Emma’s agency.
This is not my graphic (well most of the gifs aren’t either) but I like how it gets the point across:
Tumblr media
Regina: Merlin's tower. There must be something in here to help get him out of the tree.
Emma: Never do that to me again.
Regina: Oh, now you're talking to me. Emma: I don't know... Am I allowed to? Regina: You gave this to me. Emma: To protect me, not use against me. Regina: I saved your life. Emma: By pretending to be me?
Regina seems to forget the purpose of being given the dagger. She uses it repeatedly as a weapon to force Emma to her will.
Regina: Oh, shut up and listen. (Emma tries to speak and finds she can't.) Oh. I can get used to this. Look, if you told Arthur you were the Savior, he would have asked you to free Merlin. You would have had to use magic... dark magic. Do you remember what happened last time you dabbled in that? Emma: I lost control. Regina: And you gave me this dagger so that wouldn't happen again. But I wasn't lying. I don't care what Merlin's prophecy says. I'm gonna figure out how I can get that wizard out so you won't ever have to use dark magic again. So, really, Swan, you should be thanking me. Emma: Thank you. Regina: Whatever. Emma: Regina... I mean it. Thank you.
Regina takes great pleasure in controlling her then dismisses Emma’s pain with a “whatever” not even an “I’m sorry”. How disgusting. Even more disgusting is that they made Emma thank her ONCE AGAIN for hurting her. The level of queenieitis in the writing is vomit inducing.
Tumblr media
There she goes again... immediately blaming Emma. I mean I know the odds are in favor of a DO being behind this but this is also Emma we’re talking about.
Regina: You're right... I'm not the Savior. Emma: Glad you finally caught up with the rest of us. Emma: That's your problem, Regina... You're always looking for someone else to blame. I did not summon that monster. The price is not mine to pay. Regina: Then whose is it? Emma: Yours. You are the one who did not pay the price of magic in Camelot. You want to save Robin Hood? You want everyone to believe you're the Savior? Then step up and do what needs to be done!
Though Dark Swan is dishing out some nice tea here.
I also like how confident Regina was that SHE was going to save Emma... by stealing her agency... and then completely fails.
5x05 Dreamcatcher
Tumblr media
Regina: Oh, no. You don't get to be self-righteous with me. Not after what you've done. Henry saw what you did. He's devastated. Emma: I was trying to make it up to him. Regina: Make it up to him? By reuniting a girl and her horse? Oh, let me guess. You let the damn thing out in the first place. You forget... I have some experience with Dark Ones. Everything's a manipulation. Emma: It all would've been fine if you could've just helped yourself and stayed out of it. Maybe you're the one causing pain. Regina: Wow. Listen to you trying to justify everything. If I'm the one on the moral high ground, you've fallen quite a ways, Ms. Swan. Emma: Don't "Ms. Swan" me. We've been through too much. You know I never would have done that to Henry if I didn't have good reason. Regina: "Good reason." You know, that's exactly what my mother said to justify what she did to Daniel. Emma: What I did in Camelot, I did to protect Henry. Regina: She thought she was protecting me, too.
Something Emma had to do gets thrown back in her face... by Regina... who doesn’t stop to think for one moment how rich this sounds coming from her?
Regina mentions “moral high ground” but instead of relating what Emma did back to herself she compares Emma to her mother?
Regina abused Henry for 10+ years. What Emma did, and fixed, does not come close to what Regina did to him!
So really, Regina has no right or any moral high ground to yell at Emma over this. Regina doesn’t have all the facts and she is way way out of line.
5x08 Birth
Tumblr media
Regina: Feel any better? Hook: I'll feel better when I have some answers. Emma said this whole thing was about me. Regina: Are you really that naive? She's manipulating you. That's what the Dark One does. Hook: No. This was Emma talking. Mary Margaret: There may not be any Emma. Not anymore. Regina: She's right. This Dark One, she has Excalibur, and she is going to destroy all light magic. Hook: So, that's what you think it's about? A sword she hasn't actually used? Regina: Well, obviously, she needs another ingredient to cast the spell. So, we figure out what that is and stop her from getting it. And we get our Emma back. Hook: You can all look at magic spells till you're blue in the face. But something happened between me and her in Camelot. The only way to help Emma is to find out what the hell it was.
Regina always thinking she has the authority on everything.
Killian was right. It was all about him.
Also Regina still thinking the worse in Emma. I mean I know Emma’s been consumed by evil & they think she’s given into the darkness but at this point it’s ONLY KILLIAN that is defending her.
Tumblr media
Emma: What are you doing? Regina: Helping you break the walls. As your friend, I command you, Dark One, tell me, why are you so afraid to give up the darkness? Emma: Once I let it go, I won't be able to protect my family. Regina: That's another wall, Emma. Now... the truth. Emma: It is. Regina, please. Regina: No, it's not. You just have to be brave enough to knock down all those walls you're hiding behind. The dagger can make you look, but you... you have to choose to see. Now come on. Come on, Emma. See. Tell me what you're really afraid of! David: Regina, what are you doing? Regina: I'm getting answers. Hook: By controlling her? That's enough. Are you all right? Mary Margaret: You really think you're helping her by being cruel? Regina: I wasn't cruel. I've been cruel. And trust me, you'd know it. I was getting to the truth. It's not my fault that it's painful.
Oh, because Regina says it isn’t cruel it isn’t cruel? Emma begged her to stop. And a few episodes back, Emma explained to her how it felt to be controlled by the dagger. Regina’s response of course was “whatever”. Regina doesn’t care as long as SHE is the one to get results.
Tumblr media
To bad it was Killian getting Emma to open up and be truthful to him and trust in their future that ignited the flame. He used love. Not pain. But that is what Regina does. She uses pain then tries to justify the means. Pain is pain, love.
Saving Robin vs Saving Killian
Tumblr media
5x02 The Price - Manipulative/Doesn’t care about the consequences for Emma
Hook: No. No, we can't let her use dark magic. Mary Margaret: Regina, this was the whole point of your pretending to be the Savior. Regina: The whole point was not for Robin to die. And I'm not asking you. I'm asking... I'm asking her. Emma: I don't know what will happen if I use my powers again.
Funny, Killian never begged Emma to use dark magic and endanger herself to save him. But Regina? Literally doesn’t care when it is HER that is going to lose HER happy ending.
Also that’s really funny... I thought the whole point of this was to remove the darkness forever and not lose Emma to it? But OK.
Tumblr media
Regina: I've lost love before, and I won't again. Please. Save him.
Regina literally threatens Emma with the dagger then uses emotional blackmail. I’m not saying that Emma should have let him die but this scene really should have come back to haunt Regina...
It of course doesn’t.
5x08 Birth - Not helpful
Regina: Emma, your parents are right. Emma: If you could've saved Daniel or Robin... Look how far you were willing to go, how far you pushed me to save him! ( Voice breaking ) I'm not gonna lose Killian. I won't let anyone stop me.
Wait. Wasn’t Regina just telling Emma how SHE didn’t want to lose love again? Do you know who else has lost love on multiple occasions? Emma. She also lost out on potential love thanks to Regina when she murdered Graham. Emma counts him in her losses. But all of this completely escapes Regina’s notice when it is Emma about to lose her love.
I thought friends were supposed to be supportive? And don’t tell me its because Emma may go dark. Emma could have gone dark when Regina begged her to save Robin but Regina didn’t care then. She didn’t care if she pushed Emma over the edge as long as SHE got what SHE wanted.
5x10 Broken Heart - Condescending
Tumblr media
Regina: You turned Hook into a Dark One? Emma: It was the only way to save him. Regina: And you didn't think of the consequences to everyone else?
She is such a hypocrite! She didn’t think of the consequences for Emma when she was basically manipulating her into using dark magic to save Robin.
Emma: I couldn't just let him die. You can understand that. Regina: Well, yes, but... Now we have a bigger problem.
Honestly Regina, maybe if you’d have helped instead of acting like it was OK that Emma lost her true love while you kept yours.... maybe we wouldn’t have gotten to this point?
5x22 Only You
Tumblr media
I'm used to suffering, Swan, and I'm used to others getting their way.
I know Regina is hurting but the “getting their way” just irks me. I’m not expecting Regina to hug Emma and be ecstatic for her.
However, don’t stand there and accuse Emma of “getting her way” as if Emma doesn’t deserve to find happiness because Regina lost hers? Emma and Killian have been through hell. They deserve to find happiness.
Also it appears that only Emma needs to feel guilty about not being there for Regina.
Emma: I was so wrapped up worrying about how you'd react to Hook, I... I wasn't there for you about Robin.
Killian just came back so I’m not sure at what time Emma was supposed to be there for Regina... However, it’s amazing that Regina NEVER speaks to Emma about Killian from the moment Killian dies to when Emma is forced to leave him in the Under World.
But Emma is expected to be there for Regina about Robin? It’s amazing how one sided this all is, isn’t it?
Tumblr media
Regina: Oh, that's why you were trying to be delicate with me. You're worried the Evil Queen is about to come out to play.
Shouldn’t friends be able to trust each other? Emma obviously doesn’t trust that Regina won’t go into a murderous rampage... I mean she does have a history of doing this and to this speaks volumes about Regina’s supposed change.
Yes, Emma knows she’s changed but just how much does Emma believe the old Regina is gone? Obviously Emma has some reservations.
Tumblr media
I’m sorry but no. I’ve seen Regina doubt Emma and her capabilities way too often to dismiss this one. And Emma even rolls her eyes here so we can see how frustrated she gets by this woman always putting her down.
Tumblr media
This is toxic behavior because neither Killian or Emma have done anything to Regina yet Regina wants them to suffer. She couldn’t be happy for Emma because she wants Emma to suffer like she is. Emma can’t find true love when Regina is alone, I guess. What friendship!
This is also very one sided. There wasn’t a single scene about Regina trying to help Emma through the pain of losing Kilian but hey it’s perfectly OK for Regina to have murderous impulses toward her BFF’s true love, right? No.
Tumblr media
Regina: I can't expect you to get it.
Emma: Well, I fought the darkness. You know I do understand.
Regina: All due respect, but you don't. You went up to the precipice. But you got pulled back before it consumed you. I was consumed. And I have to live with it every day.
1) Regina always plays the bigger victim to Emma. She did the same thing in S3 when Emma told her “he’s my son too - I know how you feel” when they were trying to save Henry. It’s always Regina’s pain that is worse. It’s always Regina’s pain they have to deal with it. When Emma speaks about the darkness consuming her - Regina demands she save Robin. When Emma says being controlled by the dagger upsets her - Regina ignores it. When Emma wants to save Killian because she can’t lose love again - it’s a mistake but it’s fine for Regina to save Robin.
2) Regina has NO IDEA what it is like to be consumed by evil. NONE. Regina was not consumed by an evil force. She was not possessed by evil powers. She just chose to be evil. But go ahead Regina, play the bigger victim.
Tumblr media
Then Regina throws something Emma regretted having to do as Dark Swan in her face. They were running out of time and they needed to free Merlin. This is something Emma has made up for and worked to bring Violet & Henry back together.
But out of jealousy and spite... Regina just can’t help it. She has always been jealous of how close Emma is to Henry and how much better she knows him than her. S3 with Pan backs this up.
This is part of an OUAT BFF Award series that was inspired over the vile names I’ve been called because I refuse to see Regina’s toxic behavior as friendship. Emma & Regina are merely two people who are thrown together because they love Henry.

Ouat Couples Age Gaps
A while back I found this infograph which talks about Hollywood’s tendency to cast a male love interest significantly older than the woman. The charts themselves bother me a little bit (I think the scale they use misrepresents the data, and at least one of those pairings I would argue is not actually a love interest relationship) but their point is more than valid. However, they also have a fairly small sample size and I was curious about several things. How does this trend compare in tv versus movies? And how does this trend compare across different genres? I’m not undertaking anything that extensive at the moment but I decided to take a look at several different tv shows (or groups of them) and see where they fall in regards to the trend.
Assembled below are all the canon couples in Once Upon a Time (and it’s spinoff) with their age difference noted. These are the ages of the actors, not the characters, because this information is more for the sake of examining casting habits than anything else. They are grouped into regular intervals. All couples where the man is older are listed first. At the end there are two separate categories: the first is couples where the woman is older, the second is same-sex couples (the older of the pair is noted as well).
A couple things to note:
Age gaps between adults are not inherently bad (they can be, but there are other factors involved that go beyond what’s listed here). I’m not trying to claim that any couple on here is worse than another because of the age gap. It’s trends in the casting habits that have the potential to be problematic.
Personally, I consider 5 years to about a normal span for couples. I wouldn’t look at a couple within 5 years of age from each other and think of them as a couple with an “age gap” so long as they are past “college age”.
Unlike movies, tv shows evolve significantly after casting. Meaning that many of these were not intended to be romantically paired at the time of casting. Also, there are a lot of factors that go into casting which could lead to odd age gap situations.
Any characters involved in any sort of marriage/dating/sexual relationship were included. This is includes a few arranged marriages, and some non-consensual situations. My intention is not to portray them as anything other than what they are. But because the characters were in some sense of the word “together” they were included here.

Updates
So I got that full time job (starting Jan 9th) so it will be only twice a week most weeks, and sometimes I will have odd hours so maybe 3 or 4 some weeks.
After riding the school pony twice I decided that he was going to give me terrrrible position habits so I said fuck it, I’ll just hop back on arthur for some very short lunges focussed on straight sides or oval shaped circles. The main reason I’d been avoiding that was more because I get worried about him hitting the lunge line and falling out with the quarters and totally facing the lunger and trotting sideways to the left. But I am well aware I need to stop being a pussy ass biatch so time to bite the bullet on that one, since all the x rays showed very healthy joints for his age, but I’ll limit it anyway or else RIP in peace @ my wallet.
So some random thoughts about my nerves ‘n shiz:
Like all of it is attached to whatever horse I’m on’s emotions and basically nervous as soon as their ears go back because I take it really personally and straight away assume it’s something I’ve done and idk? As soon as the ears are back I’m too worried to use my leg or do anything (and of course as soon as I watch it back on video I’m sitting there going GRR you whimp just do it, but this isn’t rational sooooo???). I can’t even remember if he used to put his ears back or anything but it was just as soon as he was so antagonistic and would properly fight me so hard on everything that I stopped trusting him, my abilities, blah blah. Like IF he used to do it, idk, I’d tell him off and he’d stop. And I trusted that he’d stop, and I trusted that my aids would be correct enough that he’d respond and just… blegh. Now I’m just in a permanent state of conflict avoidance lol. So anyway, I don’t reaaally know where to go. Go to a regular psych and handle it like a PTSD thing (since I know which particular grey mare this shit stems from), but I’m so over talking to non horsey people about this shit. The sports psychology thing did nothing for me for the same reason. Blegh. It’s just frustrating how much it overrides my life. If I were confident enough to ride him by myself, I could move him this side of the river and skip the hour in traffic and go somewhere with lights and just float him up for lessons on the weekend and actually be able to ride 6 days a week. And then I have had to pay Justin to rehab him, like just walk up and down the driveway the first week, so I’m out of pocket from that. And it’s got me stuck in the double cos he’s grumpier in the wrong outline and he goes into the right outline in the double, cos I’m not brave enough to kick his butt when necessary in the snaffle. And generally this shit just sends me around in circles cos i feel more negative and doubtful of myself after thinking about it so *shrug emoji*. On one hand I’m like 'hey, I wouldn’t want to not be accountable for my actions like if I was actually the cause of the issue cos i put my leg in the wrong spot or cos you’re sore or something’ but then the line is totally blurred and I can’t separate when I’m justified in backing off cos he’s angry and when I’m not and need to reinforce a boundary. I just feel so stuck, Idk how to trust him again. And like this is clearly my issue, Like I can trust any horse until they show me that they’re willing to fight back and I just forever stop pushing the point. It’s why I’m fine to whack around the school pony and then look at other riders with significantly less experience and talent than me ride through a horse pinning their ears against their head, and knowing that they will likely get further than me because of it, and feeling that sense of worry at the pit of my stomach just watching it? Sigh. Anyway. Idk what to do on that front. Advice I appreciate I suppose if anyone has had this and moved on. And again, I know how I’ve been pushed through it and out of my comfort zone before, with Graham making me more scared of him than I was of the horse and just redirecting my fear, but that’s not Justin. And it’s not really solving the issue. And it’s not like I can really rationalise not worrying about it cos statistically it is the most dangerous sport and I’m scared of significantly less dangerous things (cough heights cough swimming cough snakes).
Anyway. Idk :))))

Flight: Chapter 7
This chapter has a bit of jealous!Killian. Surprise character is revealed! Anyone guess who?
Some humour as well!
@thatwolfbookgirl, @followbatb, @kmomof4, @hollyethecurious
Prologue : Chapter One : Chapter Two : Chapter Three : Chapter Four : Chapter Five : Chapter Six : Chapter Seven : Chapter Eight : Chapter Nine : Chapter Ten : Chapter Eleven : Epilogue
Emma and Killian were back in their bedroom with Henry resting on his chest. Safe to say they were exhausted.
“Kids are far more exhausting than babies.” Sighed Emma. “I’m so tired. How do Liam and Elsa cope?” She snuggled into his side. Henry grabbed her nose and she giggled. “You stay like that forever.”
“I assume you adjust, beautiful. Maybe we will find out.” He sounded sleepy and was mumbling against her hair.
“Killian. Will we though? We still haven't discussed what is going to happen after these six months.”
“Do we have to now? We have four and a half left. I don't want to think about it. You go back in January. It's August.”
“I know, but if we don't know what's going to happen-”
  “Shh. Another time.”
“Killian.” She felt his arm move from around her and place Henry between them. He shifted to his side and lay next to her. He looked deep into her eyes.
“I don't want to be without you, Emma. I really don't, or Henry. You know how much I care for you and Henry. I don't want you to leave.” He put his hand on her cheek and reached to kiss her. “I can't go back to America though. My family is here, I've lost a lot of time with them and I missed my niece and nephew grow up.” She nodded. “How do you feel about me?”
“You know how I feel.” She closed her eyes. “I don't want to leave. But everything I have is in America. My job.”
“Is it really? Is everything there? What else apart from your job?”
“Urm, well, my job is pretty important.”
“You could get another job here.”
“I love my job, Killian. I don't want to lose it.” She knew it wasn't nice to talk about but she was glad they were.
“Okay, different question. What do you have here?” He stared intently. Neither of them knew what the purpose of the conversation was but it needed sorting.
“Well, Henry's here, you're here, I have this nice apartment, some new friends.”
“Isn't that better than a job?”
“That's not fair, Killian. I’m loving living in England, but you can't expect me to give up everything in America for a man I’ve only known for six weeks and dated for three. I know we liked each other since we met, but it's an awful big leap of faith.”
“You're the one who wanted to talk about this. I didn't because of that reason. I know we haven't known each other long enough to make such drastic decisions, but neither one of us wants to leave our home country. What do you suggest?”
“I don't know, Killian. I really don't. I have to do what's best for my son.” She looked away from him.
“Isn't that here? Isn't England what's best for him? The only thing he had in America was you. I know you're all he needs. But you can still give him more. He deserves to have people like James. Yes, you have better weather in America. Agreed. But isn't a few rainy days worth it?”
“This isn't about the weather, Killian.” She rolled over and faced away. He was silent for a bit. Henry was mooching about in the sheets. She felt a kiss pressed to her cheek and him get up and leave the room. She needed time to think. She knew there was nothing waiting for her in America that everything she had was here. It was the fear of committing to it. To him. The fear of all his promises for him to turn around one day and shatter them. The fear Neal had instilled within her. She knew Killian wasn't Neal, he was sweeter, funnier, great with Henry, he had a loving family and great friends, she couldn't ask him to give that up. He had no job. She did. She had no family. He did. Together they made a whole person, but one of them would have to sacrifice their half if they wanted to be together. Her phone pinged.
Graham: I need an answer by tomorrow, Emma. Please consider it.
She swiped it away, that was the last thing she needed to think about. She had changed her phone background to Henry and Killian on a see-saw together. She wanted to be with Killian, she really did. She just feared him breaking her heart. Henry's heart.
Henry grabbed her from behind, she turned around and picked him up.
“I’m sorry, baby. I love you. I just have a lot to consider. You're my number one.” She gave him a kiss and closed her eyes.
Killian was sat on the couch. He had a coffee in his hand and was staring into blank space. Henry was of course Emma's priority, he knew that and work was also important in order to provide for Henry. She refused any financial help from him, apart from the odd treat like ice creams and the onesie he bought. He knew she was doing well and saving. She often treated him when they went out together. So, they were equal in that respect. But he wanted Henry to be surrounded by people who adored him. He adored him, James adored him. The whole Jones family adored him. He wanted Emma to be surrounded by people who loved her. Him. The kids. The men loved the sound of her. He didn't want them to be alone in a New York apartment. He wanted her in his apartment. Why couldn't she see that?
Emma was in and out of sleep. She didn't hear the door open, but she felt Killian's body press against her and him pulling her into him. He snuggled his nose in her neck and kissed her collarbone.
“It was unfair. I know you love your job. I’m sorry.”
“No, I’m sorry. I can't ask you to leave you family. They're too important.”
“But you deserve to be part of a family. I don't want you and Henry being alone. I couldn't live with myself.”
  “I’m used to being alone.”
“But you don't have to be anymore. I want you to get so much love from my family that being alone isn't a natural feeling anymore.”
“Won't that make it harder to leave?” She hugged Henry tight and kissed his head. She felt Killian do the same to her.
“I don't know what to say, Emma. I can't convince you to stay here, you have to want to stay. You have to want me. You have to trust me. I’m not going to leave you. I’m in this for the long haul.”
“I do want you. I'm just afraid.”
“Then let's leave it. Let's carry on being together, our weird little thing us three share. We’ll revisit it.” He pulled her onto her back, Henry in her arms. He kissed her neck and grinned. “It’s too early to think about. Maybe in a few months things will have changed. You might realise I’m never going to leave. We might have exchanged some certain words. Time will tell. For now, let's enjoy the moment.”
Henry grabbed his hair and giggled.
“Even the lad agrees.” He picked him up and smiled. “Tell your mummy to stop worrying. It will turn her grey. And we don't want that, not yet.”
  “Yet?”
“Like I said, love. Long haul.”
She smiled and sighed. Time really would tell.
That night they enjoyed a takeaway and watching another Disney movie with Henry. Tangled this time. Henry was having his bottle and fell asleep long before the film ended. Emma took him to bed half an hour in, but they continued watching the film.
“I can't believe you've never seen Tangled.” Laughed Killian, he was now cuddling Emma from behind as they lay on the couch.
“I just never really bothered with Disney films. I haven't seen many. Apart from the Sword in the Stone. I loved that one. I used to have a friend called Arthur, he was really the only friend I had in America, then I went with Neal.”
  “Oh. Was he nice?”
“Yeah, real sweetheart. I can't remember where he said he was from. I know he was English. I can't imagine where he is now.” She sighed. They had been good work friends and she wanted to explain where she disappeared to.
“Maybe he moved back here?” He whispered. It was the scene at the tavern when they all started to sing.
“He did say he meant to. I wonder if he ever did. I guess I’ll never know.”
Killian kissed her neck. “Shame.” His hand slipped under her shirt. “Maybe I can take your mind off him.” She smiled and leant back to kiss his mouth. “Mmm. You taste like chocolate.”
  “What about the film?”
“It’s Disney, they live happily ever after.”
“Who do? Do Flynn and Rapunzel? Do Flynn and Max finally get along? I need answers.” He was now towering over her and had her pinned under him.
“Ugh. I need you.” He kept kissing her and she obliged but she was interested in the film and kept looking at it. “You know. It's a lot sexier when you're into it.” She laughed at him, he was clearly quite eager. He had pushed up her shirt to reveal her stomach. “Never thought I'd be denied because of a Disney film.”
“I've never seen this film. I've had you plenty.” She smirked. “Let me watch.”
“But you can watch this anytime. Come on, Henry's asleep.” His hands went to her waist and dipped beneath her waistband. “I’m desperate for you.”
“I can tell.” He kissed her more. A sound of loud horns went off a few streets down. She had paused the film and was finally getting into it. His shirt was off. His shoulder was healing nicely she noticed. “You’re shoulder is doing well.” She mumbled into him.
“Not my priority right now. Part of me feels like you're not as into this as me. Something on your mind?” He was kissing her neck, his hands going lower.
“I really want to watch that film.” She smirked.
“What if we watch afterwards? Why don't you enjoy yourself?” He suggested. “Let me take care of you.”
“Fine. If you must.” She giggled. She kissed him back and undid his belt.
  “Mm, Emma.” He whispered.
  Knock, knock, knock.
“Who is knocking at this time?” asked Emma, pushing him up.
“Just ignore it. It's a Sunday night. Can't be anything important.” He leant back down and kissed her.
  Knock, knock, knock.
“Who on earth is it?” She pushed him off, and got up. She straightened out her clothes before opening the door. She really questioned why there were so few peep holes in England. She opened the door…
“Emma! You're here!” A tall, dark haired man with blue eyes smiled brightly at her. He looked worn with a bag thrown over his shoulder. His hair was ruffled, he had bags under his eyes, his stubble was thicker than usual.
“Swan? Who is it?” Called Killian.
  “August?” She whispered.
“That must be Killian.” He smiled.
“How? What? What are you doing here?” She was utterly gobsmacked. She had no idea how he had found her. He was standing on her doorway holding his ribs. She looked him up and down and saw his jeans were ripped and bleeding. He had an old black eye and cuts on his hand.
“What happened to you?” She went immediately to his side and helped him in. They both saw Killian sitting on the couch shirtless, belt undone and hair messed up. August knew quite well what he was disturbing. Killian looked shocked at the new man in his house. Who was it? How did Emma know some he didn't? Was it Neal? Not how Emma had described him.
“Oh, I didn't mean to intrude. If I had have known you were busy.” He teased.
“Shut up. What the hell happened to you?” She laughed but was concerned as well. She walked him to the couch.
“You really expect me to sit there?” He joked. She forced him down. “Ouch!”
  “You're such a baby.”
“Speaking of babies. I heard you had one.”
Not Neal then. Killian was still sitting like a lemon on the opposite side of the couch. He hadn't said a word. He was handsome, this stranger. An ex? Surely not.
  “Yes. I did.”
“Who's the father? I know it's not this guy.”
Who did he think he was? Was that an insult to him? Killian's features turned sour. Was he not good enough for this guy?
  “Take a guess.”
“No, Emma. Not him. Why? How? Jesus, Em.” August looked annoyed. Did he know Neal?
  “It was a mistake.”
“You're good at those.” He chuckled, then hissed when his ribs hurt.
“Serves you right.” She hadn't looked at Killian once. “Babe, go and get some warm water and a clean cloth will you? Some of them dressings for your shoulder.” He frowned and walked off.
“He seems… pleasant. A bit on the prickly side.” Teased August. Emma took his jacket off which was torn to shreds and placed it over the couch.
“He's usually nicer than that. I’m not sure what's got into him.” She looked confused. August was right. He was acting odd.
“I know exactly what's wrong with him.” He laughed.
  “You do?”
“Well, by the way he's dressed, he was clearly about to get something from you. Not only did he get interrupted but his girlfriend brings in a strange, handsome man. Not my finest entrance. Albeit, not my worst.” He winced again.
“I didn't think about that.” She giggled. “He isn't usually the jealous type.”
“Any man would be jealous after what you just did.”
Killian arrived back with the water and cloth. Maybe a bit hotter than necessary. Not too hot to hurt, but a subconscious warning. He stood by the coffee table, watching August suspiciously. Emma introduced them both to each other and they nodded.
“You can either take your pants off or I can cut your jeans. Your choice.” Was she flirting? His mood went lower.
“Well, you've practised one tonight. Cut them.” Emma cut the jeans at the knee.
 “What happened anyway?”
“I got hit by a car. Driver didn't look where they were going, knocked me right off my bike.” Oh, of course he rode a motorbike. It wasn't Neal, but he certainly hadn't been mentioned to Killian.
“Oh God, are you okay? Did you get the plate or anything?”
“No, they sped off too quickly. I’m not too bad. A little bruised.” She bathed his knee and cleaned all the dirt out.
“Right, Booth. Shirt off.” Emma looked at August, August looked at Killian, Killian looked at Emma, August could see the shock on his face and smiled internally. He always loved wiping the smiles off of her boyfriends faces. Particularly Neal. That Walsh guy too. Killian seemed decent enough, but he still enjoyed it.
August pulled his shirt off. He was toned and tanned. Clearly worked out. He just had bruising, no cuts.
“Looks good to me.” Smiled Emma. “Go and chuck his shirt in the wash.”
  “It’s practically ruined.” Said Killian.
  “He speaks!” said August.
“Leave him alone. Killian, just go and put it in the washer for tomorrow.” He nodded and sulked off to the washing machine.
“Where did you find that one? The ocean? He's salty enough.”
“On the flight. To here. He took me in sort of.”
“Doesn't seem the kind to like strangers.”
“Well, maybe I was a rare exception. Plus he's great with Henry.”
“Ah, so that's his name. Good name. After our Henry I take it?” She nodded.
“Don’t wind Killian up. He gets enough of it from everyone else, he doesn't need a total stranger to do it as well.”
Killian returned back from the kitchen and sat on the couch with a beer.
“What happened to your shoulder?” Asked August.
“Rusty nail.” He said quietly. August knew it wouldn't be as bad as a motorbike crash. Was this guy trying to one up him in front of Emma?
  “Sounds painful.’
“Hardly. I was just helping a friend with a couch. Got caught.” He took a swig from his bottle and turned on the TV.
“Tangled? You don't watch Disney, Emma.”
“Killian suggested it. For Henry.” What was this guy's problem? Now he was criticising his film choice.
  “Sweet.”
  “Killian, turn it down.”
He did, he switched over to a channel. Pirates of the Caribbean was on, he sat back and watched.
“You should shower.” Said Emma. “It will make you feel better. Killian, will you find a towel and some clothes? You're similar height and build.”
  “What sort of clothes?”
“Just a t-shirt and some pyjama bottoms will do.”
“I had them in my bike, but that's down the road. I’ll fetch them in the morning.”
“Oh, and sort the guest bedroom out, will you, babe?” She was checking August over for any other lumps or bruises.
“Shall I give him my dog too?” He said under his breath.
 “What?” asked Emma.
 “Nothing.” He walked off.
August gave Emma a look and raised his eyebrows.
 “Be quiet.”
August had showered and was now in Killian's fresh clothes. Emma had dressed his knee and Killian was still sorting the guest bedroom out. Probably taking more time than needed. He did have to tidy up some of the kids toys from the night before.
“So, are you going to give me some answers?” Asked Emma.
“What do you want to know?” Asked August.
“Where did you get your black eye and bruised knuckles from?”
“I saw Neal in a bar in New Jersey. I was a bit drunk and started a fight. I had no idea you had a kid with him though. I heard him gloating to some men about some chick he had ditched for jail and how she still came running back to him. So, I gave him what he deserved.”
Emma was shocked. August wasn't the fighting sort.
“Anyway, that's all that is. I got kicked out then.”
“Okay, so why are you in England?”
“I wanted to find you. I went to your magazine and found your boss. After some persuasion that I wasn't Neal, because he knows your history. He told me your address. I read your columns that night and on the flight. Said you were living with some really nice guy and were dating. His family seemed nice and you sounded happy. I thought I'd come and check up on you. Make sure this Killian is a good chap. I must say, he isn't exactly impressing so far.”
“He's just tired. He’ll be better in the morning. Wait till you see him with Henry, they're so sweet.” She lit up as she talked about him.
  “You really do like him.”
“Yeah, I mean. Of course I do. What's not to like?”
“I’m glad you found someone. After all this time.”
“We haven't been together long. I’m still expecting him to do a Neal.” she sighed.
“Em, this guy isn't him. Don't let Neal get in your way of what could be really great with this guy.”
“I thought you didn't like him.”
“I didn't say that. I said he's prickly.” He smiled.
Roger came over and sat by Emma.
 “He's handsome.”
“This is Roger. After Federer and the Jolly Roger in Peter Pan.”
Killian walked over and sat on the couch arm by Emma. He now had a shirt on and some pyjama pants himself.
“Did you know Nana from Peter Pan was-” started August.
“A newfoundland. Yes. I did.” August had a newfound respect for him. He read. August was a writer. August raised an eyebrow and Emma smirked at him. That will teach August from being so cocky. “I studied English at university. I’m not the imbecile you think I am. I’m going to bed, love. Unless you need something else.” She shook her head and he kissed her temple. “Goodnight.”
  “Goodnight, handsome.” She smiled.
“Night, mate.” He said to August.
 “Goodnight, Killian.”
Emma and August chatted for ages. At one in the morning they finally decided it was time to go to sleep. August limped to his room, whilst Emma tidied up the front room before bed and let Roger out for a wee. She quietly checked on Henry, he was fast asleep. Then she opened the door to Killian and her room. He was fast asleep, or pretending to be. He was facing outward on his side of the bed, wrapped in the covers. She climbed in next to him. He didn't move, but he was too tense to be asleep.
“I know you're awake.” She whispered. He didn't say anything. He was sulking. “Killian, what's wrong?” Her hands snuck beneath the waistband of his pants.
“I’m not in the mood, Emma. Not now.”
“You're not jealous, are you?” She smirked, happy he couldn't see. He didn't say anything. “There's no need to be. He's just a friend.”
“A friend with dark hair, stubble, and blue eyes. Doesn't sound familiar at all.” Her hand was now at his stomach. He too was nice and toned, but more due to the nature of his life rather than him going to the gym.
“August is different. We met when we were really young. We were in a home together, a guy called Henry took us in. Hence, the name. They were the best years of my life until now. Anyway, we got separated but life always had a funny way of bringing us back together, at one point we were living on the streets together. He's like a brother to me. Nothing more. We lost contact again when I went back to Neal. I knew he would never forgive me if I told him.”
“I’m sorry. I should never have been so rude. He just seemed cocky and trying to get one over on me.” She rubbed circles on his stomach and then went to tickle his ribs. He jerked. “Emma, don't.” But she knew he was smiling. She did it again.
“Swan. I’m warning you.” She felt in a silly mood. She pulled him over and got both sides of him. He started laughing. “Please. Stop. Emma, Emma. Stop. Stop it hurts.” He was writhing next to her.
  “Not until you're happy.”
“I am happy.” She was not convinced. She started again. “Love. Please, I can't take it. I’m too ticklish.” He was smiling at her and moved closer and she got him. “Emma. Enough.” He was still chuckling and she stopped.
“That's the Killian I want.” His breathing was heavy next to her. She felt his lips against hers. His arms came around her and he tickled her ribs back. “Hey! No
fair.” She was the one squirming now. “Killian, stop it. I don't like being tickled.”
  “Neither do I.”
“You were being grumpy and jealous. Not my fault.” He stopped tickling her and went back to kissing her.
“You promise August is just a friend?”
  “I promise.”
His kisses went back to being tender and soft. He placed little ones on her jaw and her collar. His hands went up her shirt and his came off.
“Shall we finish what was rudely interrupted?” Asked Emma. His eyebrow darted up.
  “What about August?”
“He's not going to stop me appreciating my boyfriend.” She switched them over so she was on him. “Anyway, let's not talk about him. Where were we?” She smirked.
Killian woke up with Emma in his arms. They were both nude, but she was fast asleep. She was cuddled into his side with her arms wrapped around him. She was breathing lightly and the morning sun was hitting her perfectly. The covers were at her waist. He was lucky. He knew that. He also knew he had to apologise to August. He was tired and frustrated last night, his behaviour was uncalled for. He looked at the baby monitor, all was silent. He checked her phone for the time. 8am. 3 new messages. One from Graham, one from Liam, one from Robin.
Why was his friends texting her? He didn't pry but he was certainly curious.
She stirred. “What time is it?”
“Eight, beautiful. Shh, go back to sleep.”
“Why are you awake?” she sighed. “What's wrong.”
“Nothing. Just appreciating the views.” His fingers danced lightly along her side.
“I need to get up. I'm falling behind on work.”
“Have a lie in. With me.”
“You and I both know that's not what you're suggesting.” He waggled him eyebrows. “No. Not this morning. I really have to work.”
She picked up her phone and turned onto her side, he spooned behind her. She saw her messages. Liam had sent her James the night before opening a surprise present. James was in love with tennis and played high up for under tens. They had surprised him with a signed headband from Federer himself. Liam sent a video of it to her.
“That is adorable. I really want to see him play tennis one day.” She smiled.
 She checked Robin's message.
Hey, Emma. There's a mixed seven a side football match next weekend. We need two girls in the team. You up for it? Liam says you're good. Robin.
“I haven't been asked.” Moaned Killian. “How is that fair?”
“I dunno. It sounds fun though.” She replied with a yes and mentioned Killian was upset.
  Next was Graham's.
Emma really need to know by the end of tomorrow. Hope you take it.
 “Is that about the job?”
“Yeah. I need to have a good think. Let me up.” Emma got out of bed and he lay back.
“Yum.” She threw a teddy of Henry's at him then she threw on his black dressing gown.
“I’m having a shower.” She raised her eyebrows with a suggestive look and left the room. He was up in a flash but he had no dressing gown. She had took his. It was pink and fluffy or naked. What would be more embarrassing if August caught him? Naked. Definitely naked. He threw on Emma's dressing gown and ran to the bathroom. He locked the door and hung her dressing gown on the door. She was already in the shower. He hopped in with her and she laughed.
  “Pink suits you.”
They finished in the shower, Emma dried off first and took his gown again. She left the bathroom and went to their bedroom, locking the door.
  “Emma! Let me in!”
“Wow. Pink suits you.” Came a voice. August.
“I'm confident enough in my sexuality to wear pink.”
“But a fluffy pink dressing gown. I'd say Emma's tricked you there.”
“She likes to have her fun.”
  “I can see that.”
“Swan! Let me in! You've embarrassed me enough. Come on.” She unlocked the door and laughed. He walked in and shut it hearing August's laugh from behind.
“That's it. Come ‘ere.” He chased her around the room and pulled her onto the bed. “You have to pay for that.” He pulled her dressing gown off and kissed her. Then the baby monitor went off. He was crying.
“He certainly has impeccable timing.” Sighed Killian.
“Let me get changed, I’ll get him.”
Emma went to Henry who had calmed down a little.
“What's up, baby? Are you lonely?” She kissed him. “Or hungry?”
  “Eyyyaaah.”
“Hungry. Let's get you breakfast? Then maybe you can meet August.” She carried him to the kitchen, fed Roger and got Henry's bottle. As she was feeding him August came out of the bathroom. Still in his borrowed clothes.
“Is this the famous little guy?” Asked August. Emma smiled and nodded. He walked over to them both. “Hello. I've read a lot about you. You're adorable.” He wasn't paying August any attention, too focused on his bottle. “No wonder Killian fell in love.”
“Killian's not in love with us.”
“Emma. That's mean. You can deny your own feelings for him, but it's unfair to take away his. He's not got the issue, you have. At least be strong enough to admit that.” Confronted August.
“I don't want to talk about this.”
“You never do want to talk about feelings. It's what makes you Emma.”
She snapped around. “It is not what makes me Emma. Being a good mother, being independent, being able to rely on myself is what makes me Emma.”
“I’m sorry, that was uncalled for. I just don't think you should let Neal get in the way of what could be a pretty good life. He's already ruined it enough. Don't let him ruin Killian.”
  “I don't want him to.”
Their conversation was cut short when the man himself walked into the kitchen.
  “Keeyee!” Screamed Henry.
“Morning.” He smiled. They both replied but were quiet. “Have I missed something?”
“We were just talking about… old times.” Smiled Emma, giving him a kiss. “Funny times weren't they?”
“If you class sleeping on the streets funny. Then sure.” Smiled August.
“I need to apologise August. I was rude last night, I wasn't expecting you and I was a bit grumpy.” He scratched his neck and smiled awkwardly.
“Don't mention it. I was a bit of a shock surprise.”
Emma smiled at them both. “Two of my faves getting on. Now, I really must do some work. There's been too many distractions recently.”
Killian took Henry from Emma and kissed him. “Good morning, cheeky. Did you sleep well? Urm, if you need to borrow any clothes August just ask Emma to get you some. Then maybe we can try and sort your bike out later.”
“Thanks. I really appreciate it. I’ll join you and do some work, Em.”
“I’ll go and take Henry and Roger out, love. Do we need anything from the shops?”
  “Oh, I made a list.”
Killian had been gone awhile. Emma and August were working away and chatting in between. August was an author and was working on a sequel to his book.
 Ping!
  Graham: Any decision yet?
“My boss keeps pestering me to take on another column.” She sighed.
  “What's wrong with that?”
“I'm already writing four a week. Five seems a bit much. I already feel busy enough, I don't know how long left I have with Killian. Seems a shame to throw it all away on work.”
  “When do you leave?”
“Middle of January. I go back to New York.”
“Is Killian going with you?” he asked.
“No. He doesn't want to leave his family anymore. He lived in America for three years and he's just come back. He went off the rails I've heard, I still don't know why. A girl I think?” She shrugged and carried on working.
  “Can’t you stay here?”
“I have thought about it. But America is my home.”
  “Do you miss it? America?”
  “Well, no.”
“Then it's not home. Remember what Neal said to you.”
“Home is the place when you leave, you just miss it. The only good thing he taught me.” She laughed. “I know. But I’m worried about work. I can't leave my job. Killian is getting paid by Graham too as my childcare, so neither of us would have a wage if I left. Then what would happen?”
“Surely Killian can find a job easy enough with a degree.”
“He's a qualified teacher too. I'm trying to convince him to apply part time. He's not having it though. He loves caring for Henry.”
“Does he want you to take on the extra column?”
“Yeah, plus then he gets more for caring for Henry.” She sighed deeply.
“Why don't you make a compromise. You take on the hours if he does part time. He can still get paid by Graham for the hours he babysits. You’ll just have to get your work done whilst Killian is at home.”
  “We’ll see.”
They day went as normal. August's bike was salvageable and they spent the day moving him into the apartment he had rented for a few months. He had wanted a change of scenery, and decided England was the place to go.
Killian went to meet Liam for a bit for a chat, whilst Emma was editing a column and Henry was asleep. Out of curiosity, she searched teaching jobs and noticed the local sixth form was offering a part time English lecturer. Three days a week. That would be perfect for them. Emma could easily work around his time table with that. She printed it out and left it on the counter for him to see.
Graham: Emma, I need to know. Now. Please answer asap.
Emma picked up her phone and sent her reply.

rubygees replied to your post “Good golly! This blog sure has a lot of new faces!  To celebrate, I’m...”
Puzzleshipping + camping + marshmallows
“This is a bizarre thing people do nowadays.” Atemu mumbled, sitting in front of the fire that he had spent ten minutes trying to start. He wasn’t very good with a lighter like he had thought, hell, that time at Burger World seemed like a stroke of luck in a very stressful situation.
“What is?” Yugi asked as he dug through the bag he had brought that he had put food and medical supplies into.
“This whole... camping thing. I mean, I’ve seen it, in shows and movies, but just being out in the woods like this...”
Yugi chuckled. “Haven’t you ever camped before?”
“In Egypt it was a bit different. We mainly were out in sandy areas, close to the Nile, and it was simply for checking territories. Also, I had a lot of people with me and slept in a large tent.”
“The tent I have is big enough for three people, it’s not fancy, but it will protect us. Now where did I... oh! Found them!” The orchid eyed boy happily held up a pack of chocolate bars. “Now we can enjoy the best part of camping in the modern era!”
Atemu raised an eyebrow. “And... that would be..?”
“S’mores!” Yugi set the chocolate bars on the ground next to them, beside the box of graham crackers and the bag of... what are those? Marshmallows? Right, yes, that’s what Yugi’s one card is named after. Atemu stared at the items, watching as Yugi grabbed two long, metal sticks he had packed.
They had used them to cook the fish that they had caught earlier, which had actually been fun. It was a lot different from spearing fish, fishing for them with a string and a pole, but it was interesting. This whole camping thing was still strange to Atemu, it had been a joke at first, but then Yugi made it happen, so they decided a three day trip to the woods near Domino was a going to be how they spent the weekend.
Yugi had shown Atemu how to set up a tent, they swam in the lake they were near, Yugi introduced him to fishing (which was something Grandpa had learned from his friend Arthur, who then showed it to Yugi), and after cooking the fish, Yugi was going to show him how to make... ‘S’mores’, whatever those were.
After cleaning off the sticks, Yugi handed one to Atemu and opened the bag of marshmallows. “Okay, take one and put it on the tip of the stick.”
Atemu did so, watching Yugi do the same, before putting it over the fire. “So why are we doing this?”
“Well, when Grandpa use to do this with me, for whatever odd reason, haha, he would make me these treats he learned from Arthur when they traveled about in America. It’s a odd treat, but it’s really good! And I know you love sweets. We toast the marshmallows a bit, let them get nice and golden, or black, depending on how you like it.”
“Okay?”
“Then you take as graham cracker and break it in two, then a half a piece of chocolate bar goes on one of the pieces of cracker.”
“Right?”
“And when the marshmallow is just right, you put it on the chocolate and put on the second cracker, making a little sandwich! Then you just eat it!”
Atemu nodded. “Why is it called a S’more?”
“I have no clue!” Yugi laughed, pulling away his mashmallow, which was on fire. He blew it out and began making his S’more. Atemu watched him carefully before removing his own toasted treat, deciding to make a S’more instead of just straight up eating the marshmallow. He could do that after he tried this.
Once he made the treat like Yugi had instructed, he took a bite. “Oh!” He blinked, finishing up the bite. “Aibou, this is awesome!”
“Hehehe.” Yugi smiled. “I knew you’d like it.”
“Heh, so far, I think this is my favorite part of modern camping. Though you did promise me stargazing, so we’ll see.” Atemu smiled, leaning over to kiss yugi, leaving a sticky mark on his cheek.
--
I actually don’t like S’mores, I don’t care for the texture of mashmallows that aren’t found in cereal haha, but I figured Atemu would like them. I headcanon him with a huge sweet tooth.

HOW MANY BOOKS HAVE YOU READ?
tagged by the dear @mednotes because I wanted to do this so badly.
The BBC estimates that most people will only read 6 books out of the 100 listed below. Bold the ones you’ve read.
(Spoiler- I only got 30. I feel like such a literary snob fraud.)
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen The Lord of the Rings- JRR Tolkien  Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte Harry Potter series - JK Rowling To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee (I get emotional over this book every time I read it)
The Bible
Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte
Nineteen Eighty Four - George Orwell His Dark Materials - Philip Pullman Great Expectations - Charles Dickens Little Women - Louisa M Alcott Tess of the D’Urbervilles - Thomas Hardy Catch 22 - Joseph Heller Complete Works of Shakespeare (I can’t believe they only counted this as one book.) Rebecca - Daphne Du Maurier The Hobbit - JRR Tolkien Birdsong - Sebastian Faulk Catcher in the Rye - JD Salinger (How else do you think I got so edgy?) Oh what the heck. Now I’m mad. I thought I’d be better at this.
I’m going to tag @thatsnarkydragon, @jelliclesong, @coolsweetmelody-blog, and @apparentlyabear. Why? I don’t know. Maybe I’m nostalgic about the days when I would do these over email with my friends. You can also count this as an official tagging if you want to do this, by the way. Just do. Do a fun thing because you feel like it. I love you.

A couple weeks back I asked the internet for help finding something to read, and man did the internet pull through! This is a masterpost of answers I got. If you’re tagged in it, it’s just so I can tell you this: thank you for responding! I got some recommendations I’ve already read, some that have been on my list for ages, some I’ve never heard of before and am excited to have learned about! It was fun seeing such a variety, and now I have a nice list here to come back to next time! If you’re wondering which I ended up reading, the answer is actually that my wife reminded me that I’d been meaning to read Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman, so I played favorites and took that suggestion. But I just finished it, so, I’ll try to pick one of these for the next thing!
@metalpannda answered: John Scalzi’s Old Man’s War series.
@vivaciouscactus answered: Jewels of the Rebellion is one of my favorite fantasy novels. Its only $3 on Amazon, too.
@theneuroknight answered: The Fionavar Tapestry. Recommended by a friend. Not sure what I think of it yet. You might like.
@rabiastudies reblogged this from suchprettypride and added:
The Catcher in the Rye
@janeandthehivequeen reblogged this and added:
The giver series by Lois Lowry maybe? It’s kind of quiet fantasy, the plot can’t really be described as action at all. Death does enter the plot at one point but it doesn’t dwell on it. You can start at any book in the series and read any of them as a stand-alone as well.
But like, everyone has read that so you probably already have too lol
Oh, there’s the princess bride, which is hilarious and fantasy. There’s action but it’s not action packed, and it’s self-aware and campy and fun. If you’ve seen the movie, it’s like that, but with a very self-aware frame narrative.
Howl’s Moving Castle is like a subversion of different fantasy tropes, also very funny and also relatively light-hearted. The main character has been turned into an old lady so there’s little action.
@jannhpps reblogged this from youthbookreview and added:
Little Women by Louise May Alcott is one of my favorites.

@12minutestomidnight reblogged this and added:
This book is pretty well-known, but if you haven’t yet read it: try Kafka on the shore by Haruki Murakami. It’s fantasy, and it’s a contemporary book - so it might be post-modern, though I’m not sure what counts as a post-modern book to you.
@readingbooksinisrael reblogged this and added:
I just took out a bunch of Edward Eager books because I needed exactly what you are talking about. They are children’s books about groups of kids who suddenly find magic. They are all great.
Recommended reading order:
Half-Magic-summer of 1924, four kids find a magic coin on the ground that only grants wishes in halves.
Magic By the Lake-summer of 1925, same four kids go to vacation at a summer house near a lake, and find a talking turtle who can grant wishes
Knight’s Castle-the children of the four in the two previous books have to spend a summer together, and end up adventuring much of it when they are turned tiny
The Time Garden-same children go vacation at a summer house near a lake with a thyme garden. they discover the thyme can take them through time
Seven-Day Magic-five kids from a different universe discover a book that takes them on hazardous adventures when they make a wish on it
Magic or Not?-two kids move to a new neighborhood during the summer, and discover a wishing well and try to do Good Deeds
The Well-Wishers-same kids come upon a magic desk, and immediately lose it to the bully of the street
And these sound generic, but they’re not, and every chapter is action-packed, and the characters are great. If you like E. Nesbit’s books, these are based on those. And the illustrations are great! (at least in my copies)
@anassarhenisch reblogged this and added:
Orlando by Virginia Woolf - Modern, not post-modern, with a definite fantasy slant and slower pace; about an Elizabethan immortal who slides between genders Castle Hangnail by Ursula Vernon - About a twelve-year-old girl auditioning to be the Wicked Witch of a castle, with a fair bit of whimsy and humour; fast-paced because it’s a kids’ book but it doesn’t feel frantic in the same vein, the Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia Wrede, about a princess who volunteers as a Dragon’s Princess because it’s the only accepted role that allows her independence Uprooted by Naomi Novik - slow burn of a fantasy, occasionally creepy and with fast sections and side character deaths, but the focus is on friendship and saving the kingdom and fighting evil Robin McKinley’s fairy tale retellings if you’re looking for something big, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke, which is basically Austen does fantasy; there are deaths and depression but again, I wouldn’t say they’re the focus; it’s two wizards fighting Napoleon, reinventing magic, and messing with forces they can’t control

What he really thinks: Trump mocks Christians, calls them "fools" and "schmucks"
Cohen says "profoundly immoral" Trump labels Christianity "bulls**t" and is consumed by a "lust for wealth"
Michael Cohen's book about his years as Donald Trump's fixer is a clarion call to Christians to wake up; recognize the man many of them revere as a heavenly agent is a religious fraud; and act.
Trump loathes Christians and mocks their faith, but pretends to believe if it suits his purposes.
In Disloyal, published today, Cohen shows how Trump is a master deceiver. He quotes Trump calling Christianity and its religious practices "bullshit," then soon after masterfully posing as a fervent believer. In truth, Cohen writes, Trump's religion is unbridled lust for money and power at any cost to others.
Cohen's insider stories add significant depth to my own documentation of Trump's repeated and public denouncements of Christians as "fools," "idiots" and "schmucks."
In extensive writing and speeches, Trump has declared his life philosophy is "revenge." That stance is aggressively anti-Christian. So are Trump's often publicly expressed desires to violently attack others, mostly women, and his many remarks that he derives pleasure from ruining the lives of people over such minor matters as declining to do him a favor.
Cohen describes himself as an "active participant" with Trump in activities ranging from "golden showers in a sex club in Vegas" to corrupt deals with Russian officials.
The author offers new anecdotes about Trump's utter disregard for other people and his contempt for religious belief. Cohen's words should shock the believers who were crucial to his becoming president, provided they ever read them.
By denouncing the book Trump has ensured that many of those he has tricked into believing he is a deeply religious man will never fulfill their Christian duty to be on the lookout for deceivers.
None of the evangelicals I have interviewed in the past five years knew Trump has denounced in writing their beliefs and written of the communion host as "my little cracker."
Trump detests Christianity
Despite the irrefutable evidence that Trump detests Christianity and ridicules such core beliefs as the Golden Rule and turning the other cheek, America is filled with pastors who praise him to their flocks as a man of God. Trump himself has looked heavenward outside the White House to imply he was chosen by God.
Pastors who support Trump were scolded two years ago by Christianity Today, a magazine founded by Billy Graham, for not denouncing Trump as "profoundly immoral." Many evangelical pastors then attacked the magazine rather than following the Biblical exhortation to examine their own souls.
Cohen writes that as a young man who grew up encountering Mafioso and other crooks at a country club he fell into the "trance-like spell" of Trump, whom he describes as an utterly immoral, patriarchal mob boss and con man.
Trump is "consumed by the worldly lust for wealth and rewards," Cohen writes, which puts him at odds with the teaching of Jesus Christ about what constitutes a good life.
"Places of religious worship held absolutely no interest to him, and he possessed precisely zero personal piety in his life," Cohen writes.
Prosperity gospel embraced
Cohen explains that the only version of Christianity that could possibly interest Trump is the "prosperity gospel." That is a perverse belief that financial wealth is a sign of heavenly approval rooted in 19th Century occult beliefs that is anathema to Christian scripture.
Many actual Christians regard the prosperity gospel as evil. Christianity Today, calls it "an aberrant theology" promoted by disgraced televangelists including Jimmy Swaggart and Jim and Tammy Baker.
Early in Trump's aborted 2012 presidential campaign, Cohen writes, he was ordered to reach out to faith communities. Soon Paula White, now the White House adviser on faith, proposed a meeting at Trump Tower with evangelical leaders. Cohen writes that Trump liked White because she was blonde and beautiful.
Cohen said that among those attending were Jerry Falwell Jr., who recently resigned in disgrace over sex and greed allegations as head of Liberty University, and Creflo Dollar, who solicited donations for a $65 million corporate jet and who was criminally charged that year with choking his daughter. Dollar said those charges were the work of the devil.
Once the evangelical leaders took their seats, Cohen writes, Trump quickly and slickly portrayed himself as a man of deep faith. Cohen writes that this was nonsense.
Laying on hands
After soaking in Trump's deceptions, the leaders proposed laying hands on Trump. One purpose of laying on hands is to call on the Holy Spirit for divine approval.
Cohen was astounded when Trump, a germaphobe, eagerly accepted.
"If you knew Trump as I did, the vulgarian salivating over beauty contestants or mocking Roger Stone's" sexual proclivities "you would have a hard time keeping a straight face at the sight of him affecting the serious and pious mien of a man of faith. I knew I could hardly believe the performance or the fact that these folks were buying it.
"Watching Trump I could see that he knew exactly how to appeal to the evangelicals' desires and vanities – who they wanted him to be, not who he really was. Everything he was telling them about himself was absolutely untrue."
To deceive the evangelicals, Cohen writes, Trump would "say whatever they wanted to hear."
A perverse epiphany
Trump's ease at deception became for Cohen an epiphany, though a perverse one.
In that moment, Cohen writes, he realized the boss would someday become president because Trump "could lie directly to the faces of some of the most powerful religious leaders in the country and they believed him."
Later that day, Cohen writes, he met up with Trump in his office.
"Can you believe that bullshit," Trump said of the laying on of hands. "Can you believe that people believe that bullshit."
Cohen also writes about Trump's desire, expressed behind closed doors, to destroy those who offend him. Trump has said the same, though less vividly, in public.
"I love getting even," Trump declared in his book Think Big, espousing his anti-Christian philosophy: "Go for the jugular. Attack them in spades!"
He reiterated that philosophy this year at the National Prayer Breakfast. Holding up two newspapers with banner headlines reporting his Senate acquittal on impeachment charges, Trump said, "I don't like people who use their faith as justification for doing what they know is wrong. Nor do I like people who say, 'I pray for you,' when they know that that's not so."
Trump spoke after Arthur Brooks, a prominent conservative, told the breakfast meeting that "contempt is ripping our country apart."
Brooks went on: "We're like a couple on the rocks in this country…Ask God to take political contempt from your heart. And sometimes, when it's too hard, ask God to help you fake it."
Everyone in the room rose to applaud Brooks except Trump, though he finally stood up as the applause died down.
Taking the microphone, Trump said, "Arthur, I don't know if I agree with you… I don't know if Arthur is going to like what I'm going to say."
Trump then said he didn't believe in forgiveness. That is just as Cohen wrote: "Trump is not a forgiving person." Trump's words at the prayer breakfast made clear that he rejects the teaching of Jesus at Luke 6:27: "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you."
The question pastors should raise in their Sunday sermons, the question Cohen's book lays before them, is how can any Christian support a man who mocks Christianity, embraces revenge as his only life philosophy and rejects that most basic Biblical teaching—forgiveness.

Sophia Holmes and the Mysteries in Stone

Chapter Twelve
I clean and dress my wounds in the back of the cart, not sparing Arthur any blushes by taking off my shirt to do so. Instead, the boy faces away as I patch myself up the best I can before changing into the fresh shirt.
"How do you planning to get back to your time?" he questions as we arrive in London, speaking for the first time since I told him he wasn't coming with us. "Can the Angels take you forward in time as well?"
"From what I've been told, no, they can't," I admit. "I have some people out looking for us, but they need us to send them a message through time that they can link onto. I haven't worked out how yet."
"I was thinking about writing a book about you two," Doyle says shyly. "It was just an idea."
I turn my head towards him, remembering what The Doctor had said. If Doyle writes about us, would that erase our existence?
"It could work, but I don't think it'll be enough - just enough to attract their attention. We need to pinpoint a location for them first."
"So these people, can they travel through time too?" Arthur questions, looking excited.
"From what I've heard, yes. But no, time travel isn't common in my time. The Doctor comes from another planet altogether."
Arthur's eyes widen. "You mean you have discovered the ability to travel across the stars and meet the creatures who live there?"
I smile slightly. "Our space travel explorations are not nearly so advanced. The Doctor found us."
"An extra-terrestrial invasion?" he asks, his face whitening and I sigh, wishing I hadn't broached the subject with him.
"Not exactly."
Arthur looks at me uncertainly for a moment, then changes the subject. "When exactly do you come from? I know you live in future London, but what year?"
"When I left, it was March 2010," I say slowly, watching for his inevitable reaction.
"2010?!" he yelps. "But that's almost one hundred and fifty years into the future!"
I laugh at his bewildered face. "Yes, and we would like to get back there as soon as we can."
Dad pulls the cart to a gentle stop, and we hop out.
"Where are we?" Arthur questions. "I haven't been this far into London before."
"Baker Street," dad tells him. "This is where Sophie and I will live in the future."
"And it's where our rescue party are likely to converge," I finish, and dad nods in agreement.
A shiver runs through me as we step inside the building. It's odd: while much of it looks the same as it will in a hundred years, it still doesn't feel like our home.
"Keep quiet," dad tells us unneccessarily as we creep up the stairs, missing out the ones that creaked back home, even if they may not be creaky now.
I push the lounge door open and walk in, looking around the room.
"Arthur, could you make sure you write down every detail for that book you were going to write?"
If Arthur's story is written exactly the same as it happens, it's going to be a lot easier for The Doctor to track us down. If he finds the book.
"What book?" dad asks, spinning around to face Doyle.
"It was just an idea," he blushes.
"No," I insist. "You've got to write it, our future depends on it."
Doyle shrugs reluctantly and I feel another shiver as I look around. Something is different than a moment ago.
"Something's changed," I voice, looking around again. "I think time was just rewritten. Just a bit, but enough."
The real-life version of spot the difference.
"There," Arthur says, pointing. "There's a rip in the wallpaper that wasn't there before."
"Are you sure?" dad says, frowning, slightly annoyed that he didn't notice it before him.
I walk forward to investigate as Doyle nods. "Certain," he replies, sounding more confident about this than with anything else that's happened today. "My family used to play a game of observation."
"I'm sure it'll come in handy with your books," I say, pointedly, beginning to tear back the wallpaper.
At first, nothing is revealed, but as I peel the paper back further, some black writing appears.
"Allons-y?" Arthur reads. "What does that mean?"
"It's French," I tell him, "for 'let's go'. But what's doing here?"
Dad sighs. "The Doctor said it when we first met him, weren't you listening?"
My eyes widen in realisation. "He's already tracking us," I say, and turn to Arthur. "He's reading your book."
"I haven't written it yet!" Doyle protests.
"But you will," I snap. "You have to now."
Arthur looks to dad to see whether he's going to lecture me, but he's to busy to notice. "I don't necessarily think your time changed for the better," he retorts bitterly, and I have to stop myself from replying. The game is on, and I need to concentrate.
"Sophie, how did The Doctor tell you to send this message?"
"He didn't," I admit, not wanting to tell him that I left before he had the chance to tell me any more. "But I logged his number on the way to the graveyard, so I should have enough here to do what I need to."
Dad nods and I walk towards the window and close the curtains as I pull out my phone.
"What's ... what's that?" Arthur stammers, pointing to it.
"It's a communication device," I tell him, typing. "Quite common where we come from." I frown, thinking for a moment before continuing. "You might have heard of the telephone Alexander Graham Bell invented? This is a compact version."
His eyes widen. "That's a telephone? But it has no wires. And it's so small - where do you fit all the components?"
I roll my eyes and ignore him as I send the message. It takes just a few seconds to get a response and I grin at dad. "Their signal is locked. He says 'stand back!'"
"Into the kitchen," dad suggests, and I nod, dragging Arthur with me as he continues to stare at my mobile.
Within a minute of receiving the message, something begins to happen. A loud whirring engine croaks as the wind echoes through the flat, then suddenly a blue box crashes through the window. The TARDIS lands, and the door swings open.
"Sophie!" the Doctor grins widely. "Is Sherlock with you?"
"But that's impossible," Arthur yelps. "How is that possible?"
I see dad gritting his teeth - Arthur's limited intelligence is beginning to get on the nerves of both of us.
"Yeah, he's here,"
"Who's your friend?" he questions, laughing at Arthur's puzzled expression.
"Arthur Conan Doyle, he's the one who wrote that book," I say, gesturing towards the book in The Doctor's hand.
"My book? I haven't -"
"Arthur Conan Doyle," The Doctor grins, rushing forward to shake the boy's hand. "No way!"
"Pleasure to meet you sir, but how can my book be in your hand if I haven't written it yet?"
"Your books are going to live forever in most universes!" The Doctor says, continuing to shake his hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
"I presume you're here to take us back," dad says pointedly, and The Doctor grins.
"Of course, get in."
The Doctor holds the door open as I step into the box. I'm not sure what I'd expected, but this is certainly not it. This ... this is impossible.
Obviously using some sort of alien technology, The Doctor has managed to squeeze an entire room - if not more - into a small police box from Earth. An entire spaceship is hidden inside, an entire, impossible spaceship. This must be as baffling to me as my mobile was to Arthur.
"What do you think?" Martha questions from the circular control panel where a transparent column winds up through the centre to the ceiling.
"Impressive," I remark. "And not what I was expecting."
"I wonder how the 'famous Sherlock Holmes' will hold up!" she exclaims, and I smile as The Doctor tries to coax dad in.
I walk around the control panel, looking below at the complex-looking machinery underneath the metal mesh, and then up at the circular lights lined across the bronze walls, just taking everything in. I don't know how to deduce anything from it, so I join Martha as she watches a small screen embedded into the control. The engines give a little moan, causing me to jump.
"The Doctor said it's the TARDIS matrix," she explains, smiling at my startled expression. "I guess this is a lot to take in for someone like you."
"How would you define 'someone like me'?" I question, feeling a little uncomfortable.
She shrugs. "I dunno, logical, intelligent -"
"Narrow-minded?" I put in and Martha looks at me guiltily.
"Sorry," she apologises.
"No, you're right," I admit. "I never expected ..." I don't finish, I just gesture around at the control room.
The Doctor eventually manages to lead dad in, before turning to Arthur to give him a hearty farewell.
Dad steps in, his mouth open in confusion before he frowns. "This is impossible," he says, turning back to the doctor. "This shouldn't be happening, it can't."
The Doctor smiles as he steps in. "Anything to say?" he asks, and dad spins around.
"How is this possible?" dad demands. "How is it that this control room is bigger than the entire box."
"Time Lord technology," The Doctor says simply.
I look to him incredulously. "Who's that? Your people?"
He looks back over to me and nods silently, beginning to flick the switches on the control panel. "Are you two okay?" he questions, diverting from the subject. "Because sometimes the TARDIS can make you feel a bit ..." he pulls a face and dad and I exchange glances before continuing to look around.
"Yeah, yeah, we're fine," dad replies.
"So, back to 2010," I remind him, and The Doctor looks up, smiling.
"Alright then. Allons-y!"

He’s an odd looking creature though It bored me to bits in the beginning but now I really enjoy it. Australia should’ve rejected this and artbur later hit too.
It isn’t fair that he is having huge success with this song when the original by Shontelle is so much better: Wunderbare Ballade und tolle Stimme. It’s a different take on the song though. Deze versie van James Arthur is daar eigenlijk ook geen verbeterin op: Aber auch er wird schon bald wieder einem Andern Platz machen müssen.
