had the weirdest but coolest dream ever that i might have to turn into an au

#it’s sort of like a soulmates/mythological deity/time loop situation?#it wasn’t h&l in the dream but whatever #basically they’re soulmates and harry is some sort of mythological figure in this reality #and he was punished for smth or other to be separated from louis and has to try to find an organic way to be in his life this reality #but louis is stuck in this time loop and it takes him a few days to figure that part out bc the other ppl are like wtf are u talking about #ur crazy lol but he’s determined and fixates on certain things that wind up disappearing the next day #and then one of the days harry appears w the first item he fixated on and even tho louis doesn’t know him and sort of doesn’t like h #initially anyway #they wind up like??? play wrestling and just become so happy to be w each other and then out of view this like. timeless entity appears #and h is like look at how i found him this time!! pls let us stay together #but the entity is like nah and the day ends and starts over again #louis finally clues in to the fact that h is key to figuring out wtf is going on #but there were like statues and mentions of him in books before and now he’s just gone completely #the dream ended there but i feel like i’d make it so louis has to go through a few more days until he gets that they’re somehow soulmates #and need to find each other #and he has to be the one to find h eventually #and idk it was so whimsical and cool #it probs makes no sense bc Dream Logic #but i need this to be a thing now lmao #rowyn rambles

read boruto's two blue vortex... and i just find it... boring? it doesn't really incite any kind of curiosity or excitement within me, rather i just find too many things they need to address with the trajectory they're going for.

and personally? i think ikemoto might actually be a good mangaka IF he's given the opportunity to make his own story, not to take the burden of someone else's vision. like his art skill is good, and there are things from the manga that made me go "hmm if this is from a different manga i would actually be interested" but because boruto as a whole carry the burden of being a sequel (?), which means ADDRESSING TONS of shit that have already been set-up from HUNDREDS of chapters... forgot one thing and people's gonna start questioning how reliable your narrative truly is. that sounds like an author's worst nightmare, ngl

anyway, all of the critics aside, i think the divine trees turning sentient from the thoughts of people they absorbed is a pretty cool concept 🤔 i just find it a bit meh that the guy who absorbed sasuke's conscience wants to "eat sarada" because if they're going for the "i am curious of this feeling i got from my human host" thing, that "not-sasuke" should actually be really REALLY bewildered by sasuke's memories of naruto and in turns wants to consume him to satisfy his curiosity.

like... idk man a married guy who don't even wear his wedding ring but to have his most precious physical treasure be an old gift from his Very Best Friend is Very Curious, you know???

but also i just think it's cheap for him to obviously target sarada because "oh sarada's an uchiha ofc the personification of her dad's memories wanna eat her!" like idk... give me an actual good justification than just family ties... to add intrigue to your story, you MUST fight against your reader's expectations AND genre's conventions because people nowadays have already know every single narrative trick a bit too much. so rather than depending on their logic, you should always betray that and give them not a formulaic story, but a Very Emotional experience.

(that's why chainsaw man works btw, its not just about fighting genre's convention, fujimoto just really write a very good, heartfelt story)

had to think about harry potter again bc my 8yo brother's found a stash of the books somewhere (gen confused where they came from bc ik I didn't buy them and my parents aren't the type to read and/or buy them so ???) and is blazing through them and.

yk this is not remotely a new observation but it just strikes me how much of a "what if You, abused person living a miserable life, are actually Inherently Better than your abusers and they just happen to come to an ironic comeuppance and you're whisked away to a happier life" fantasy they begin as and idk I get the overwhelming feeling of this could've been, y'know, Fine, if it stayed with that scope and didn't gain as much cultural weight as it did?

like yeah even within the first book there's already some rather uncomfortable subtext there but I don't remember the subtext then to be worse than the average popular fantasy book; if harry potter just remained with the scope it did, whatever happens with JKR, it as itself could've probably been yk. whatever. some unremarkable thing with some bad subtext that's not out of line with the average fantasy book. but ofc it escalates from this base and to my hazy memory of the books most of the remarkably bad parts of the books come from them trying to juggle the realism they so want to drape over themselves on top of its simple revenge/escape wish fulfillment foundation (and how the first few books just aimed for whatever's the most whimsical regardless of logic) and falling flat on its face

#my rambles #most lukewarm take ever but yk #the books' foundation is just not rigorous enough to withstand all the heavy topics they try to pile onto themselves #is the overwhelming sense I get whenever I think back on them #the whimsy and the heaviness runs into each other and mixes about as well as sodium and water #the books reach for some heavy stuff as if the first books' internal logic wasn't just 'ok which path leads to the most nonsense'#and like nonsense isn't bad some of my favourite books/shows are nonsense #but like they on average maintain the same level of nonsense/nonliteral throughout #whereas hp starts from a base of 'hey wouldn't it be cool/weird if' and then within all that goes 'alr now let's talk about literal slavery #idk this is the most lukewarm take ever but I just needed it out of my heaad #although some stuff might've been better with the books like this than if it kept the scope of the first few maybe?#a specific thing I'm thinking about is yk the racism/stereotyping it's sort of a function of the whimsy and not interrogating biases iirc #yk the protagonist enters a fantastical world with strange and whimsical happenings type story #where everything's larger than life #'cept being a poc is put in the same category as idk being an academic or wtv so. yk #idk haven't read the books in a long time but this's just gotten me to think back on them #harry potter cw

heres a collection of concept art for the rest of the entities for the mythos au!! if you're wondering where the eye is, they've been drawn already!

they are all FAR from done. keep in mind these are all just my initial concepts and i plan to do in-depth design sheets as i go to explore their designs more.

(also au context: the magnus mythos is an au where the entities are all gods, similar to various religious mythology, rather than paranormal entities that feed on fear)

design thoughts for each of them under the cut

The Web - God of Fate (she/it): im pretty happy with her design atm, shes meant to be a half spider half woman thing and i love that for her. shes probably the one ive thought the most on so far given her importance to the story. i want her to wear silks and shiny silver jewelry that just sparkles like wet spiderwebs do, not sure if im gonna keep the veil?

The Dark - God of the Dark (she/he/it): probably my weakest concept at the moment. it doesnt do the dark any justice. i mean i like the cloak idea but i want them to be very tendrilly, all consuming, shadowy, but i dont know how to properly portray them :/

The Desolation - God of Destruction and Fire (they/it): i have a neat vision for them! i want them to be made of coal and ash and smoke, to be burning and glowing on the inside, and their body is decorated with melted wax to look like clothes. not quiiiiiite sure about how their melty candle dress is now? i want it to be less constrictive

The Stranger - God of the Unknown and the Whimsical (he/she/they/it): it's meant to be this. weird wirey creature hidden behind masks and a lot of fabrics, like the framework of a poseable plush doll? i like the way the masks look but im not so sure about the body.

The Vast - God of the Above (she/he/they/it): im not so sure about his design at all im gonna be real. i want them to look like the atmosphere and be covered in clouds and have mountains for feet and an ocean cape but i feel like it might be a bit?? idk??? im just not that happy with it :/

The End - God of Death and Time (they/it): ugh i love this concept sm, making death read as less scary and more divine is so fun. theyre based on a seraphim and a sand timer,

The Buried - God of the Underneath (she/he/they/it): ANOTHER OF MY FAVORITES!!!! i love them. theyre inspired by hermit crabs!! and they have silver chains holding their shell to them. they look so endearing with their lil lopsided eyes ;; <3

The Flesh - God of the Body and Meat (she/he/they/it): i have so many ideas for the flesh y'all- im very excited to do a concept sheet for them. theyre meant to have no skin, just exposed bone and muscle, large limbs, hooves, exposed heart underneath a ribcage, teeth that close around their abdomen. white bandages that wrap around like clothes. a teeth/horn crown? i dont quite know whether to go for a more animalistic look or a more human one? like- theres so many ways to go with him idek!!!

The Hunt - God of Predators and Pride (they/it): see, i like this design but i feel like its too werewolf like? yknow? thats cool!! but itreads more monster to me than God :/

The Corruption - God of Nature, Rot, and Disease (she/they/it): i love this weird bug thing. this one i was really inspired for (mostly because. corruption aligned. so obviously im gonna think about this one alot) theyre this weird bug thing, the veil is inspired by the one from the art on the wiki! i want to maybe make them a bit more gross and weird because nature is like that sometimes, a moot on tiktok suggested that i add animal bones!! and i think thats SO smart im absolutely going too

The Spiral - God of the Incomprehensible (it/its): this weirdo is so hard to pin down istg. i imagine them as this spiral thing. body is kindof liquidy, arms are spindly and long, multiple shifting faces, overall just constantly changing and moving and like!!! how am i meant to draw that??? when my brain cant even wrap my head around what its supposed to look like yknow??? bruh jrdbhgfjdldgfh- that being said i think the main problem with the design is that it just gives me too many Michael vibes!!! is it the hair? the arms? its probably both.

The Lonely - God of Solitude and the Self (they/it): i like what this one has going so far! theyve got fog hair, fog tears, their body is meant to be splotchy like turquoise marble, i vibe with it so hard. not so sure what to do with their outfit tho :/

The Slaughter - God of War (he/they/it): another one of my more stronger designs i think! centaur with weapons sticking into them, face concealed, medieval armor and antlers- it vibes

the extinction isnt drawn because i literally have no idea what they should look like aside from color palette-

once again any and all suggestions will be taken!!!! i need ideas!!! plese!!!!

this... this is such a hard question, *brings out a whole safe of records* /j (no srsly it's gonna be a long read--)

Here are a list of authors i really like :3 Their ao3 links/handles are:

the_most_happy: love how emotional their work can be! they have smut and fluff works, and most of all—which i think the the most delicious one, is the way they write angst <3 I actually made a bunch of fanart for their fics/aus when I was just getting into the fandom :3 They're writing is like going into a spicy sexy emotinal adventure... idk how else to describe it xD my fav fic of theirs... augh so hard to choose... In Loving Memory caught me so off guard (cuz i forgot to read the tags and immediately dived into it the moment i saw their post about it hhhh)

forest_racoon: The fluff and softness and magic in their writing is so good! I love the energy and comedy and seriousness and everything in their writing! it's always so fun to pick up any of their works~ Don't be tricked tho,, the angst they deliver have the same gravity ToT it's just so... augh... I first found them through Plate :( and have reread it several times (please check out their other works too it's all so amazing!!)

devilrin: love how she writes. period. the emotions and the poetic energy of it?? the angst?? so. good. the skk energy in their writing is more mellow(?) it feels more realistic—it's like watching people instead of characters ;w; (very cool how she world builds an entire life outside of her fic for her characters actually, got to witness the behind the scenes first hand myself its pretty insane to me) The fic that ruined me tho is Down to a Sunless Sea (which is so angsty im so--)

themadtree: The energy in their writing is just so amazing. it's very hard to stop mid-way! The dialogue feels very fun and engaging and you really get very attached to the characters because of how energetic and full of life they are. Whimsical is the best word I can think of to describe the reading experience of their work :3 They made a bunch of fun aus; their brain is just so amazing (pirate au and avatar au like broooooo) My favorite is Mors Vincit Omnia (yummy pirate au!)

StarshipDancer: one of the first ao3 writers whose name i decided to remember by heart (which means a lot considering how bad i am with names) because they are my most searched user in ao3 xD The fluff is just so addicting. The sillies and shenanegans are so on point for me, idk it just scratch this itch so perfectly in my brain. I draw a of inspiration from my skk sketches from their works actually :3!! READ EVERYTHING THEY HAVE PLS ITS ALL SO GOOD (you should check the fluff week collection augh) Without Words is one of my most reread ones... I think... I reread a lot of their works tho...

setosdarkness: let's be honest. i think everyone whose dived into ao3 skk just knows her alreayd xD she's such a kween for that, making sure we are so well fed with so much fun skk writing. Her works are so fun to read! Very comedic and has such similar energy to the gag moments and bickering and shenanigans of the anime skk for me idk why. I love how fun and unique each fic scenarios are :3 (no srsly you'll never run out of food made with so much love by athina-san)

xLillyle: I am working with Lilly for a Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood skk au!! (its Royai skk BUT it's also beast!skk) it's been so exciting to work with her :3!! You can check some of the teasers here. She made an iwaoi!skk fic recently so if that's you're type hehe *starts bawling*

AOHUBCOEWHBVOU I love your Malleus design!!! Also, question. Is MH Malleus protective/territorial of this AU’s MC? If there even is one, or if there were one. I’m imagining an entire “fae kidnaps human from their world but human was miserable in their world and is happy to stay and is accurate to TWST lore that human is his first real friend cuz they’re not scared or somthing brainworm” wkehvbowehbvfowbvhbr!!!! There’s so much more I have in my head but can’t add in because I don’t know how to continue to articulate it. Also bcuz of the Howl’s Moving Castle it had me thinking and my brain went harbhejdbfvowhbv 😩😩😩

I'm a big fan of MC + Malleus dynamic in canon, and I'd like to keep these two on similar circumstances in this AU!

I'm getting two possible ideas here, one is if MC/Yuu were to be a monster in this AU as well, and another if they were just a human who somehow ended up in a monster school!

For the first possibility, for starters, I think Malleus in this AU wouldn't be as feared as he used to be in canon. Every monster got their own individualities, I imagine it wouldn't be uncommon for mysterious figures like Malleus to study in MH!NRC, so in the eyes of most students, he's just another quiet monster- perhaps he's shy, who knows? He does seem unapproachable, but on the other hand, we got plenty of folks who like to stay in the shadows as well! And maybe this change of how he's perceived can change how he interacts with others and with MC/Yuu?

If the MC was a monster too, then I think it would be cool for them to be the type of monster who could connect with him in a thematic sort of way, if we're talking in terms of keeping this classic Malleus + MC/Yuu dynamic. Maybe they're a ghost, and Malleus' stare couldn't turn them to stone because they're incorporeal! Maybe they're a gargoyle! Maybe they're like, an invisible monster who also can't be turned to stone because idk, they're built different and the stone stare bounces away from their body somehow lol

But if MC is a human like you said, maybe Malleus would be a bit intrigued by that. I don't think he ever got into much contact with non monsters. What is this? What do humans even do? If they can't walk through walls, fly, be a walking taser, breathe under water, then what the heck do they do? Stand there and be spooked? That is so whimsical, Malleus found out about the concept of being #just a little guy. It's true some monsters describe Malleus as having somewhat of an unapproachable aura, but can human!MC see that? Not really, since they'd probably feel disconnected to any and all NRC students to a degree anyway. So hey, they should hang out! And if Malleus is protective or territorial, that's likely from this dragon side of him.

But those are just some possibilities I could think of from the top of my head, since this AU is still slowly being built in my mind, there could be so many more ideas of how this could play out in the future!

okay this took so long bc i know nothing abt DnD so i did a bit of research!!! my friends have talked abt DnD and i never understood but knew it was smth cool n involved alot of creativity, but now i just think this is sm cooler <33 anyway im not creative at all rn so im referencing everything from this website im using👍

synopsis : DnD races and classes of ol:nf & ol:ba characters.

qiu:

okay I couldn't decide but qiu is half-elven.

i can't really think about what class he'd be in, but i think i could see him as a bard

he's the laziest bard though 💀 and thus is mostly a wanderer.

qiu will wait until they're on their last coin and then will go perform

would perform a very good show while MC pickpockets the assholes that were disturbing the bar just a moment ago

otherwise, he just performs for you and his friends.

they'll have/be at a party with all their friends, and will perform some type of magic trick to entertain everyone

qiu will sing you little songs, read you poetry he wrote while watching you sleep that morning<3

for any important dates like birthdays, or anniversary (if you're dating), etc., they'll do a cool magic trick and perform a elven dance that he learned from his mom

tama:

human! BUT. she's a druid

she loves the forest, the forest loves her

maybe a bit of sorcery as well? idk how this works lol

she has a little house in the woods omg

goes foraging and learns lots of sorcery stuff from ren

will show you how to cast cool spells

also you're the first person she comes to show you any new spells she learns!!

after much warming of baxter's cold heart, i imagine he settles in some civilian town or nearby and opens a bar!!

and every night its full with laughter and good music, and occasionally he'll come out from behind the bar

(honestly, he's mostly just cleaning the glasses and looking pretty <3)

and he'll pull you or one of your friends into a dance

omg imagine its not just a bar, its also a bed & breakfast

of course he's decent enough at cooking, so every morning he lays out a nice breakfast for his customers

derek:

knew this was derek insantly!!! he's half-orc

orcs dont have horns, do they.... well they do now

(realizing he's more Oni than anything in my head...)

anyway i need you to imagine arataki itto and if u don't know who that is Please find the beefiest fanart of him n thats derek LOL

Tintin Character Requests! Pt. 1

The series where I draw Tintin characters in funky little outfits cuz they truly are funky little characters

In the first picture, we've got toxic yaoi, well, no, the first request was these two on their own but because I love them so much and their interactions in the 2011 movie I drew them together, and wow I am actually quite proud of how it ended up looking like!!!!! (Probably one of my favorite out of this batch of sketches)

Aaand behind curtain number 2, we've got certified best boy, Chang!!!! Where is he running off to? Idk. I would be embarrassed to admit how much time I spent figuring out how running looks like cuz I just suddenly forgot wtf running looks like

Next up, we've got AHHHHH MY SILLY MY GOOFY MY FAVORITE MANIC PIXIE DREAM GIRL!!!! PROFESSOR CALCULUS!!!! I drew him in polite little vest and turtleneck combo and some patterned pants, politely waving at you! I was watching a few episodes recently and AGEHHDHDHH I FORGOT JUST HOW ENTERTAINING AND AMAZING AND ICONIC THIS MAN IS he's so silly he's a genius he has no idea what's going on most of the time <3333 we need him in the hypothetical 2011 sequel (it's coming guys trust me)

TADAAA!!!! IT'S GENERAL ALCAZAR!!! ok. As you know I've only recently started coming back to Tintin, and I'm ngl I forgot who general alcazar was. Then I watched Tintin and the picaros and pretty quickly I remembered. THIS GUY WAS SO COOL. my dumb kid brain didn't entirely grasp what was going on in that episode, BUT NOW I DO KNOW. AND WOW THIS EPISODE WAS WILD. every Tintin episode is on a spectrum of insane but this one tips closer to the more unhinged end. GENERAL ALCAZAR IS SO BADASS, HES LEADING A REVOLUTION, HE'S A MALE WIFE, HE IS A PRESIDENT NOW??? I miss the guy. ALSO I LOVE HIS DESIGN.

(Also if your wondering if every Tintin post I make I'll include a tangent of just gushing about how much I love some aspect of Tintin you better get used to it cuz I love rambling about how much I love Tintin)

here's a couple characters ik little about, ik they were the original antagonists of the secret of the unicorn but that's about it! It's the bird brothers!!!! They're in some fancy suits, judging everyone they pass, their probably grumbling about something. From their appearance they look like their never happy sjhfjdjf

And last but definitely not least, IT'S JOLYON WAGG!!!!! if only the editing was better so you could bask in his graceful and obnoxious glory. I really like his voice! I really like his wardrobe! And he is some sort of anomaly to me, hes just popping up in the most random times, and most of the time it's to be an annoying little bitch (endearing), he has a medal of honor btw! If I ever met him, I would at first be very charmed, but then realize this is an entirely one sided conversation that'll go on for hours and hours that I won't be leaving anytime soon, and when I eventually get home I'll be completely exhausted by how much social energy I was using up just trying to keep up and look like I was really really invested in whatever this man was rambling about

But anyway he's silly and whimsical so I still really like him
