Do you ever wonder if deep down, in Luffy's heart, he doesn't let himself worry about Zoro because he genuinely can't? Because the alternative is simply too horrifying to contemplate for even a second?
Think about how awful it was for Luffy when he lost someone very dear to him at Marineford. This person had even promised — promised! — Luffy that he would never die. That he would never leave him alone. Yet this person who was supposed to be Luffy's constant was ripped away from him, and Luffy was powerless to stop it.
"Devastated" doesn't even come close to describing the abject despair Luffy felt at that moment. He completely shut down and went catatonic.

I simply don’t agree that Aphrodite sleeping with zeus was coercion. Eros was rightfully going to be punished for doing the same crime as persephone. Aphrodite was the one manipulating zeus into sleeping with her again to lessen his punishment. (And they had a previous relationship/fling considering Eros is his GRANDSON and Aphrodite definitely hurt Hera in that process as well) if Eros was innocent I would understand the viewpoint but Zeus was doing his job and he is scummy for being so easily swayed but Aphrodite was perfectly scummy as well using sex to get her son off the hook.
I don't entirely disagree with some of the points you raise (that Eros had committed an act of wrath that led to this whole thing to begin with). That said, I think that more proves the point that Rachel's framing could have been more clear, as it's why the debate of "is it coercion or not" even exists in that scene. Yeah, she was totally attempting to get her son off scot-free from committing an act of wrath, but then the plot expects us to also root for Persephone to get off easy, who still gets a trial. It might not be a fair trial, but the implication with the Eros / Aphrodite / Zeus scene was that Zeus was just gonna go straight into punishment without even bothering to give him a trial to plea his case. And unlike Persephone, Eros didn't go to insane lengths to hide it from Zeus and Hades (which was more why Zeus took such offense with Persephone's Act of Wrath in the first place - he didn't care that she killed people, he cared that she killed people and then hid it from him and his brothers.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apparently Artemis and Apollo were outright celebrated for committing an act of wrath.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(notice how Zeus shifts the goalposts from it being about the death of 300 mortals to it being about Eros harboring a mortal?)
In the original Greek myths, acts of wrath were common. Poseidon would drown sailors at sea, Aphrodite and Eros would toy with the emotions and lives of mortals who had wronged them, and Demeter has created an entire dang season that resulted in the starvation of mortals en masse.
So in LO, which is it? Are acts of wrath something that need to be taken to trial? Or are they not that big a deal and Zeus is simply an asshole who picks and chooses who he punishes? Because when taking how he treated Persephone's act of wrath into context - as well as Artemis and Apollo's - then him deciding to punish Eros right then and there seems a little unwarranted, I don't blame Aphrodite for trying to think on her feet. I'd like to think if he was willing to offer Persephone a trial, he could do the same for his grandson, but evidently not. He didn't even know Apollo and Artemis were his kids yet back when he rewarded them for murdering people, so his relation to them can't even be used as a "well clearly he's biased towards his kids".
Tumblr media
If it's meant to highlight how unfair of a king Zeus is, then flipping the script from Aphrodite to Zeus offering sex as a bargaining chip would have made the intention a lot more clear. That said, I do still agree with the notion that Aphrodite was clearly backed into a corner here knowing fully well that her son was about to be unfairly punished for something that wasn't even being given a fair trial or route to defend himself. That's why I argue that Aphrodite is still a victim of coercion, even if she's the one who "offered first". It says more about Zeus that Aphrodite even felt the need to go that far in the first place IMO.

In defense of season five Brian Kinney
(this has been in my drafts for months because i'm scared to post it sjkfhs)
We all feel a certain kind of way about season five, it's like... kind of unfortunate from beginning to end lmao. BUT STILL the one thing that I will always do is try to defend that babygirl, I will carry him out of the storm of criticism princess style and take him home on a white horse.
disclaimer: this is a confused stream of consciousness and I will get some things wrong because it's the season I've watched the least lol.
Why does Brian act the way he does? We know why he acts a certain way throughout the series and to me his behaviour in s5 is not that unwarranted or different from the other seasons.
1) At the end of season 4 he asks Justin to move in, he talks about wanting to spend more time with Gus, but does any of it happen? no.
Justin leaves and Brian is happy and proud of him, but honestly I would also see why that would make him feel a certain kind of way. He already thinks he doesn't deserve love and companionship and one of the few times he asks for it he doesn't get it. He prepares a trip to go see Justin, but at the last second he decides not to go, he gets cold feet because it sound like Justin is leaving him forever. Sort of, kind of, but it's enough. The same happens with Gus (imo). Like he's accepted that with time all his relationships will end and no one actually wants him to fight for them, because no one actually likes him enough to want to stick around. But do you know who will always stay by his side? Michael. Until...
2) Confession... I don't hate the assimilation plotline. It was handled horribly, but I still think it's pretty cool they dedicated so much time to it. They were doing this in the early 2000s and now most lgbtq+ media can't handle to seriously get anywhere close to it.
Brian and Michael's roles are on the opposite spectrum of the debate and Justin ping pongs between them way too pointedly, because (imo) the writers decided to use him as a plot device instead of a character. (Unironically to me Justin feels the most like Justin when he is being a dick to his mom about her boyfriend) (and even then I find myself questioning whether s4 Justin would do or say any of that)
ANYWAY Brian sees his best friend/brother travel where he can't follow him. Michael has a family, he is married, he has a house in the suburbs, new, more mature friends and Brian is looking at him from afar, wondering why he suddenly thinks the life they've shared is a meaningless, shameful thing of the past. Not directly, but in a way wondering why Michael can't just accept him the way he is anymore.
BTW Brian might have celebrated the wedding of his friends... but that doesn't mean he changed his mind on weddings as a whole. Actually his wildest marriage nightmares are proven right by the two married couples he knows. He probably looks at Mel and Lindsay destroying each other, stuck in a legal battle with Michael /and/ Ben, looks at the kids trapped in that mess and is glad that will never be him.
UNTIL IT IS. Justin, in his infinite wisdom, decides he wants all of that actually and he tries to "tame" (quoting Cowlip) Brian until he leaves him behind because the domestication isn't sticking and him alone is not worth as much as weddings and kids. There's supposed to be something MORE. Staying with Brian suddenly means settling for something lesser than what Michael has. This process starts way before the break up (talks of... puppies?) and it's there where (imo) Brian just breaks.
No Michael, no Justin, constant talk of marriage and kids and divorce and custody. No one fucking cares Brian has a reason to behave the way he does. It's normal to want different things in life, but no one in the cast has experienced what Brian has and no one tries to understand it and understand what he wants and why either.
Brian's entire existence in the series is being questioned: his worth, what he has to offer, what he can't/won't give as well as what he can/will give, what HE IS, everything amounts to literally nothing. he is being left by everyone, he's wrong and not enough. Meanwhile he hates being alone, he's needy and touch starved and sweet, he needs his special people around, but why would he ask them to stay, when they make it so clear that they think he is not worth anything? (he's left with literally only Lindsay who is so bad at keeping her mouth shut and just offering support and Ted who's mostly just thinking about his own dick 24/7 and is more of a distraction than anything else).
The only gateway to attention and affection he has left is sex except that isn't working as well anymore.
[2.2) (little aside about Justin) To me he is a bit like a moth flying into bright, shiny things. He's still stubborn and driven, but in season five his decisions feel shallow, like he's doing things out of boredom. At the start of the season he's coming back from hollywood, where he was happily living in kinney-like debauchery, and he's disappointed to be back to his old life. So (imo) he finds a new thing to obsess over: marriage. Then he gets to go to new york and weddings, kids and manors are suddenly a thing of the past. This is why to me, in season 5 he's just a big nothing of nothing, genetically modified to accompany the brian/michael assimilation plot line and then Brian's ending.]
3) Confession n 2 I don't hate Brandon and even though the competition is SO cringe, it's meant to be that way (i hope at least), to me the way it ends is what makes it clear. We get a glimpse of season one Brian, broken and lost, terrified, hanging onto the one thing that makes him feel wanted, safe and alive (sex). He wins, but the ending to the competition is not satisfying, Brian doesn't claim his prize (he doesn't want it). We get an unsettling, super close close up on Brian and Brandon instead, the lines are not good, but the visual storytelling carries that scene effortlessly. Past and present looking at each other, the future looming over them right out of frame where none of us can see it.
Aging is a main theme throughout the story and to me it feels very fitting to ham it up towards the ending. Justin spitefully telling him he looks good after sighing and moping around for entire episodes can't fix Brian's lifelong obsession with the loss of his youth. Brian is left to deal with it on his own when it's at its worst. He is old and lonely, Brandon and the competition is an escape, one last glimpse at what it's like to be the young, hot, reigning stud of Liberty Avenue, while being fully aware that his time is up.
In conclusion, Brian has not taken steps back imo, he is struggling to come to terms with the changes around him, while also feeling confident about his own convictions. Sometimes he is bitter and lonely and we get to see him say extreme things, but he's also more well adjusted than he was in season 1. He knows what he wants but he's still scared to admit it. Partly because (and the failure with the moving in thing could be a factor in this) he doesn't think he should ask for anything, partly because the people he loves are expecting him to change even more and against his will.
A the same time, he is able to question himself because he has grown and worked through some of the trauma that shaped him, also he has found a new kind of intense love with Justin, different from the codependency he has with Michael (and Lindsay) and the surface level friendship he has with everyone else, which is something that has made him realise so much about himself and what he wants and would like to be.
For the same reasons he is able to look at his empire crumbling and accept it, because during the show he found other reasons to fight and stay alive. When those same reasons are taken away from him, or he doesn't find the courage to go after them, he tries to comfort himself through sex, even if it's unsuccessful, but he's not closing into himself like he used to. He still thinks he'll get Michael back eventually and he's happy to let Justin go if it means he'll find what he is looking for, Brian doesn't want another relationship he doesn't care for it, the only reason Justin became his boyfriend is because he forced his way into his life and his heart ugh cringe lol. Obsessing over sex, age and fighting with his loved ones is not necessarily a sign of regression, just a momentary way to cope with the world pulling the rug from under his feet.
He went from attempting suicide to celebrating being cancer free. He wants the people who make him happy to be happy, even if it hurts him. He's not possessive and he's not particularly brave when it comes to relationships, but he's also growing constantly, willing and unwilling he changes and moves forward in his own way, sometime turning to look at the past but with no excuses, no apologies, no regr[GUNSHOT]
Then episode 10 comes and a lot more shit happens that i could write another 20 pages about but im done for now lmao ok bye

The Silent Reaver - ch. six
You and Law speak again, discovering each other for the second time in your lives. Things get revealed, and suddenly, your life changes.
other chapters
Warnings: don’t wanna spoil anything but!!! This chapter is very cute imo. Also this isn’t proofread, so there may be mistakes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sleeping had been rather difficult last night.
It was hard to explain why, but you felt such terrible heartache over the fact that Law had seemed so uncomfortable with you, after the little incident, at least. He hadn’t even said good-bye, and deep down you knew he did hear you. You would’ve heard him teleport away if the lie you told yourself had happened; that he could’ve left before hearing you.
Your feelings were unwarranted, really. You barely even knew the man. The person you did know was from thirteen entire years ago, when Law was still a broken, traumatized little boy. Now? It was hard to say who he really was. A pirate, warlord, your target? And those were simply titles, they had nothing to do with him personally.
And yet your heart broke at his silence.
You’d cried last night, trying to bury yourself under the sheets and forget it all.You were foolish to feel such hope that a person you hardly knew would return your feelings. Why would he? Law was a stoic man, hardened by everything he’d been through. Romance was probably the last thing on his mind.
When you woke up today, an overwhelming feeling of regret and nervousness washed over you. Maybe you were being dramatic? To think that Law was uncomfortable with you, when he’d spent so much time talking with you, being kind to you, including you in his plans? But soon you’d have to converse with him again, and you prayed that his unspoken question wouldn’t be brought back up, as you had a feeling he wouldn’t accept your answer. At least, if the question he was going to ask was the one you thought he’d ask.
Still, it was a bit strange of you to wish he’d like you. He didn’t owe it to you, so really it was rude of you to hold that against him.
You decided a shower would help clear your thoughts. Rising from bed, you stretched your limbs with an audible yawn, before making your way to the bathroom.
You didn’t feel exactly hungry this morning. You chalked it up to your uneasiness, deciding to just skip breakfast and tidy up your room in the meantime. Though, it seemed like somebody had other ideas for you. It was right after folding your clothes that a strange feeling washed over your body, and all of a sudden, you were in a different room.
Looking around, you took in the new surroundings and came to the realization that you now stood in the office you’d been talking to Law in the previous day. Your eyes quickly landed on him, and your lips fell open to form an ‘o’, putting the puzzle pieces together; Law had used his devil fruit to transport you up here.
“You should be glad you did that now and not fifteen minutes ago,” you snapped, a playful undertone in your voice as you spoke, “I was in the damn shower.”
“I’d apologize, but I didn’t do that, so…” Law trailed off, his eyes unable to meet yours now. It seemed like his face was partially hidden in the fluffy collar of his coat.
You bit your lip, wondering if your words had embarrassed him. He… wasn’t imagining if that had actually happened, was he?! You hoped not, but then again, you’d planted the idea in his head.
“So… why’d you bring me here?” You asked, sitting down on the desk behind you.
“To continue our conversation from yesterday,” Law replied, finally looking at you again. “We really only discussed our plans, not about ourselves.”
“I guess you’re right,” you pursed your lips, thinking about what to say next. “Um… what else do you wanna know, then?”
“Just about you,” Law said, cooly. “I want to know who Y/n is. Not Reaver.”
You could feel your cheeks burning at Law’s words, body flushing as your feelings were brought back to the front of your mind again. “Well… I’m not even sure myself sometimes,” you answered, honestly. “I like to pretend I’m a calm, intimidating woman, but that’s who Reaver is, I guess.”
Law simply watched you, waiting for you to continue. His gray eyes seemed to convey that he was intrigued.
“Really, I’m only myself around the girls,” you frowned, realizing you didn’t even feel comfortable with your own ‘family’. “Most of the guys creep me out too much. And I prefer not to get bold with them, kinda like how Baby 5 does.
“She and I act more like sisters now,” you continued, “we bicker sometimes, but most days we spend our free time together, gossiping and just being girls, you know?”
Law shrugged at this. Did he not know any women? You really had no idea about who was in his crew, other than some Mink polar bear. But that was the extent of your knowledge. Perhaps he’d never witnessed a friendship between two women.
“You don’t know, I take it?”
“There’s only one woman on my crew,” Law replied. “So I wouldn’t know.”
A spark ignited in you. Jealousy. Only one woman? Why would there only be one? Running a hand through your hair, you tried calming your feelings down. Even if this one woman had… relations with Law, you had no right to be jealous.
“She’s just another crewmate, if that helps you feel better,” Law rolled his eyes, a little smirk playing on his lips.
Your eyes widened, and you could feel your face burning up again. How could he tell? “Wh-what? Feel better how?” You tried playing dumb, but your flushed face gave it all away.
“You act like I have no clue about your mannerisms, Y/n. I know when you’re feeling certain ways. Just like how I knew you’d lied to me yesterday.”
“Th-thats- I’m not jealous, or anything. So what if there’s only one girl on your crew?”
Law simply laughed, a full one at that. The sound played at your heartstrings, making it pound within your chest. Oh, how you’d long to hear it again. “You’re a terrible liar.”
“Whatever,” you huffed, crossing your arms in front of your chest. “L-lets talk about something else. Um…”
“What are your hobbies?” Law then asked, but you could still see a look of teasing in his eyes. He wasn’t going to let you forget about your little lie.
“U-uhm. Other than practicing with my weapons, I uh… like to draw. That’s a secret, though. Otherwise I’d be forced to spend every non-working hour of my day with Giolla.”
Law chuckled. “Okay… what else?”
“Um… I read stuff.”
“What kind of stuff?” He pried.
“It’s… nerd stuff. You’d think I’m weird-”
“Just tell me, promise I won’t judge.”
With a huff, you gave in. “Fine. Comic books and r-romance novels.”
“Comics? Which ones?”
He’d ignored the second part of your answer, and for that, you were glad. “I like all different kinds. Sora’s a good one, though.”
Law’s eyes widened, and you couldn’t help but notice the way his body leaned forward, like he was incredibly intrigued. “You… read Sora: Warrior Of The Sea, too?”
“You like it?” You raised your eyebrows, genuinely surprised Law would be into something like that.
“W-well. Everybody from the North Blue likes it,” Law rolled his eyes.
A giggle left your lips, “I didn’t get into it until I was… mm, I dunno, sixteen? We were already living on Dressrosa by then.”
“You’re still from the North Blue, though,” Law argued. “It’s… my favorite comic.”
“Really? That’s cute.”
“C-cute?!” Law snapped, eyebrows furrowing with anger.
You laughed as you observed the man in front of you. “Sorry. That’s cool,” you corrected.
Law rolled his eyes, copying your earlier movements in crossing your arms. “You’re teasing me.”
“As if you weren’t teasing me five minutes ago, hypocrite!”
Both you and Law laughed in unison at the banter, any awkward, unknowing tension between you guys entirely gone now. It was starting to feel the same way it did back thirteen years ago, when you were kids. Like no time had passed at all, and you were close again.
As your laughter died down, fading away into the cold eerie air, Law cleared his throat. “This… reminds me,” he began to say. “I um, was going to ask you something last night, but then…”
“The prisoners came in,” you finished for him. “And then we… yeah.”
“Right.” Law awkwardly coughed, despite not needing to. “Do you feel the same as back then?”
“How so? I do feel like we’re best friends again, even if we only re-met two days ago.”
“W-well. I just… there was a… connection between us, and even though we were kids… we…”
You weren’t sure what happened just then, but your body surged with confidence, deciding to make a bold statement. “We were… kinda like… um, I guess not fully so since we were kids, but… in love?”
You could see Law’s breath leave his mouth through the cold air as he let it hang open, and you could hear it hitching as you spoke. His face seemed a bit more red than normal, and with amusement, you watched as he tried lowering his hat to hide his face. “Y-yeah. That.”
Looking to your feet, you licked your lips before biting them, a cold numb feeling washing over them as they were now wet, clashing with the cool air of the room. You’d have to answer, but… would it be so hard to be truthful? Every sign Law gave you showed that he possibly felt similarly. Like he was simply too shy to say the words himself, possibly due to sharing your feelings. Suddenly, admitting your feelings didn’t seem so frightening.
“Law, I… I do feel, um, the same.”
He didn’t smile or frown, and you weren’t sure what he was feeling now. Was he relieved? Upset? Was he just dense and didn’t realize he was acting as if he liked you?
“That’s… I’m glad,” he whispered, voice nearly trembling.
Your eyes lit up at his words, heart feeling like it was going to explode at any moment now. Law did love you, then?
He approached you, suddenly, and you had to crane your head up to make eye-contact, as he was taller than you. “I… shit, I wasn’t sure if I was making a good choice asking, but… It’s good that I did. Y/n, all this time… all these years, I couldn’t forget you. I was afraid you’d become another puppet to Doflamingo, that there was no possible way you’d forgive me for running away with Corazon.
“And yet, even though I didn’t really know what you looked like anymore, my heart couldn’t forget the way that I… liked you. And now I think… I think, fuck-”
You placed a hand onto Law’s cheek, feeling how warm his skin felt. Your fingers brushed along his sideburns, thumb gently rubbing against his tan skin. Your faces were so close now, close enough that you could see every speck of slight gold and blue in his gray eyes. That you could feel his warm breath falling from his lips and landing on yours. One of his cold, tattooed hands gently grabbed your waist, holding you even closer together.
“I love you,” Law admitted, gazing into your eyes with a longing, but also with a look of sadness, like he’d been tortured by not seeing you for so many years. But most of all, the warlord looked scared.
Closing your eyes for a moment, you opened them to see Law’s gray ones searching yours, looking for your answer.
“...Law,” you breathed out his name, allowing your free hand to move upward, wrapping it around him to feel for his raven hair poking out from underneath his spotted hat.
Not wasting another moment, you inched your lips closer and closer with his, before finally connecting them. You let your eyes close again, allowing yourself to melt into the kiss, to become one with Law.
Though awkward and afraid, Law returned your movements, letting his lips form against yours, finding the way that felt just right. His lips were smooth and soft, clearly from the doctor taking care of them. He fit right against you, and it made you wonder if his lips were carved to fit with yours, like the two of you were made for each other. His arms wrapped around your waist fully, pulling you closer and further in to deepen the kiss.
Time seemingly stood still, this fragile moment between you and Law being so ethereal and loving that you wanted it to last forever. You couldn’t tell seconds from minutes anymore, as you held each other, bathed in each other’s essence within this cold, dark room.
Soon, you felt Law pushing against you, his body forcing you to take a couple steps backward until you collided with the desk, falling onto it. Though his lips never left yours for a second, and he lowered himself to keep the contact between you both going.
He was so, so warm, filling your entire body up with a heat that was nothing short of love. You wished he’d kiss you forever and ever. Damn it all, the mission, your life as a high-ranking, well respected assassin; you wanted to stay with Law and only with Law. Nothing mattered anymore, and it almost hurt when he finally pulled away, leaving you both gasping for air.
Law licked his lips, and the sight had your heart trembling as you watched in awe.
You practically leaped to connect with him again, but Law stopped you, placing one finger between his lips and yours. “Y/n… wait.”
“For what? Please Law, let me kiss you more,” you pleaded, head dizzy with love for the man in front of you.
“Not yet,” he stammered, your words having a strange effect on him. “I… just want to make sure… this means you’re mine now, right?”
You giggled, finding Law’s question endearing and quite cute. “Of course it does. I don’t want to be anybody’s but yours, Law.”
“Good,” he hummed, before kissing you for the second time, making your heart pound within you, butterflies swarming in your stomach all over again.

Okay so this is the last I’m going to say on my opinion on this recent discourse for now (probably) but for people who don’t know what’s happening (because I certainly didn’t and thought someone was shitting on x reader as a whole instead of what actually happened): Someone on Tumblr made a post complaining about certain x reader fics, and essentially pissing on reader insert that are apparently too specific to enjoy (by this they meant readers with a personality and/or background etc.) Specifically what they said was along the lines of: if a reader insert is too specific and not relatable, it is no longer an x reader. Because apparently the moment a character differs in some way from you, you can no longer enjoy the story and it has no more merit. 🙄 Never mind the fact that it is impossible to create a reader that encompasses the entire human population. Kind of a fucking tall order if you ask me, or literally any other x reader fic writer, but they clearly didn’t, so here we are. :///
They also claimed that writing more fleshed out readers with backstories and personalities is essentially tricking people into reading canon x OC fics (personally I did not like their tone with that because canon x OC already gets a lot of shit from other parts of fandom but that might just be me) and that more ambiguous/vague (aka personality-less blobs) readers are more popular and therefore implying they are inherently better. Nothing wrong with those who read and write these types of reader characters, but to imply that it is better is just… wrong lol. That person also pointed out that these types of readers are more present in short form content, which imo is the actual reason these posts do better on Tumblr because this app just favours shorter form stand-alone works. They completely ignore that AO3 has a lot more long form reader fics, many of which are very popular, and that readers in these longer stories need a personality and backstory and character arc, otherwise it’s just not going to work.
They also beg people to tag and warn their content properly (aka if the reader is POC coded or white coded, whether or not reader is fem or gender neutral etc) - which, okay, fair enough. I myself am not white so I get that particular frustration, but it’s incredibly hypocritical of them when this person misused the tags themself by obnoxiously tagging a shitload of fandoms and characters x reader tags to boost their unwarranted criticism. They clearly just wanted attention (which they certainly fucking got because they got so much backlash that they backtracked, removed the x reader tags and then edited their post a bunch of times and I don’t buy that they feel sorry because they still seem super defensive), it was never about curating their own experience, let’s be real 🙄
I also saw a point they made about fics being subject to criticism because it’s available to the public and being consumed by readers etc. etc. I’ve already talked a bunch about this and why that take is utter shit so I’m not doing it again. And then later they turn around in one of their addendums to the post and say that they don’t like entitled readers, which, ha. Yeah, okay. Sure, the entitled reader doesn’t like entitled readers. I actually laughed at that one.
Even though I myself didn’t see the post at first or witness the fallout in the first few hours, it’s still really disheartening to see really dumb discourse like this because if OP took one minute to utilise utilise the very important organ between their ears and employ something called ‘empathy’ to see from a writers perspective, we wouldn’t be here. But again, they didn’t, and so here we are.

Why are you defending Edwina? I thought you didn't like her
i don't, but that's because of the way she treated kate.
so yeah, criticising her behaviour towards the sister who raised her and defending her from hatred that i find unwarranted aren't mutually exclusive?
for instance personally i find that she's getting too much hate for being “naive” and “blind” and lowkey blaming her for what anthony did to her because he was supposedly upfront with her, she knew what she was getting into etc. that's just such a harsh way to judge an 18 year-old who's spent her whole life in a pretty guarded environment and suddenly finds herself at the centre of attention of london’s high society. the way the huge power imbalance between her and anthony, a 30yo aristocratic man with plenty of life experience not to mention privilege, is completely ignored when discussing edwina is ridiculous.
is it really that rare for teenage girls to overlook red flags, to get way into their heads romanticising men and fantasise about things that simply aren't there? is it that rare for teenage girls to dismiss advice by their elders who know better and try to warn them about certain things?that's the big crime she should be judged for and anthony somehow bears no responsibility for hurting a vulnerable young girl, publicly humiliating her and ruining her in front of the entire world? was edwina supposed to expect that the man who proposed to her couldn't keep it in his pants when it came to her sister just because he told her she wasn't to expect romantic love from him?
don't get me started on the anthony adoring crowd trying to paint edwina as a social-climbing opportunist who only cared about anthony’s title and status. it's an old and tired take for any female character imo, let alone a 19th century teenage girl raised to view titled gentlemen like real-life prince charmings who (predictably!) put the season's most eligible bachelor on a pedestal and was flattered by his interest in her, as any other debutante would in her place.
you wanna talk about edwina’s inexcusable cruelty towards kate in the aftermath of the wedding? the vindictiveness in still considering the possibility of marrying the man who played with her and her sister's feelings just to hurt kate in ep 6? the gaslighting of kate in her big speech or the fact that she never owned up to any of the pain she caused her or apologized when they made up? i’m right there with you!
but where anthony is concerned i’m always gonna have edwina’s back. if she were to hate him for the rest of her life and be passive aggressive to him in every scene they share from now on i'd be cheering her on cause it's the least he deserves after the way he fucked up her life.
it's her behaviour towards kate and kate only that i can't stand.

he'd already made mention of being not straight in the reddit post from the previous december, but this was sort of his first acknowledgement of it (however jokingly) on main. cue a bunch of homophobic harassment and people accusing him of queerbaiting and/or making queerness into a punchline
it was exacerbated when he snapped at a couple of people on twt (justifiably imo 🙄), and a couple of idiots either lied about or made it seem like they got doxed by dream stans (which didn't happen). the whole thing fucking spiralled and it started a huge hashtag harassing and doxing him, including a lot of death threats (some of which were even liked by other ccs!!)
dream streamed not long after to address everything, and he was essentially forced to come out more overtly in an attempt to get people to stop being shitty. if you heard how fucking shaky and nervous he sounded while talking about it ... and he had a bit about how you don't stand to risk much from doxing if you're not a huge target, and idiots took it out of context to argue that he thinks doxing is meaningless, etc ...
it was just . horrible, horrible backlash because he dared to make a joke about his own sexuality. it was ugly and cruel and entirely unwarranted ... which is why it's so wonderful to see him steadily becoming more and more comfortable with expressing that part of himself, considering the start was so damn rocky

first of all WOAH....... like woah. the jyp drama acc is so ruthless oh god. idk who could've tipped them but honestly??? i don't trust chan so in my mind he has something to do with this, i've said it before but he's moving in very strange ways now that he's such a passionate y/n hater when we have him ON CAMERA FULL 4K thirsting over her CONTINUOUSLY in the first half of the smau like..... i get that he's siding with his friends obviously and he's passionate about it but it's a bit unwarranted imo (im very biased tho bc i support y/n's rights and wrongs like that's the people's princess fr, i'd immediately move overseas and change my entire identity if i were her though but that's just one of the many reasons why she's better than me)
also y/n and hyune's texts with felix broke my heart 🥺 it's not lost on me that he was the one who shut chan's rant up about how he had been right about y/n being a bitch all along and i understand why he doesn't want to listen to y/n for now but he's such a good friend :-( and both y/n and hyune admitting they still love each other oh godddd it hurts so good im obsessed, can't wait to see how this continues!! again thank you smsm for all the time and effort you put into this smau, we're all so seated and we love to see how this unfolds 🩷
also woo do you mind sharing with the class what the "not like i've not seen them" comment was about??? 🎤🎤🎤

Doesn't it bother you that people on sites like Kiwi Farms read the stuff you post on here? I agree that it's not as important as exposing your abuse at the hands of people like Lily, but still.
Honestly? Not really. Hear me out here:
I've gotten a general idea of the reputation Kiwi Farms has on Tumblr specifically and around the internet. From what I understand, the consensus is that the site is full of online harassers that get their kicks out of bullying people via insults, doxxing, etc etc. Since I do care about keeping anything associated with me or the people around me off of genuinely horrible places, I went and checked KF out myself.
What I found doesn't fully line up with the narrative that gets pushed about them.
I'd say the "worst" thing about that site that I saw based on my own looking around is the fact that SOME of their members have some spicy or otherwise questionable opinions on certain subjects, and the site in general tends to participate in old internet humor that's considered pretty offensive in most circles today. The website isn't targeted to any specific political or social demographic, so people are pretty much allowed to intermingle and discuss whatever they want as long as certain lines aren't crossed. As for the unwarranted harassment accusations?
The people and groups that I saw on that website that ended up getting the most attention were completely deserving of all the flack they were getting. People like Kero The Wolf (zoosadist and necrophiliac), Chris-Chan (sex-pest and now elder abuser), Hypnotist Sappho (open zoophile and child groomer), as well as groups like TERFs, Radfems, and the like are all imo deserving of being criticized. The reputation of KiwiFarms "spreading false information about people through targeted harassment campaigns" seems to have come from the very much toxic, dangerous people who were getting called out for their behavior. One thing KF does right is make damn sure every accusation against someone has legit, archived evidence to back it up. Chat logs, public posts, videos, testimonies, all of it is uploaded to archive websites and saved from the perpetrators deleting incriminating content, which has lead to multiple people being outed as dangerous that may not have been had there not been people saving and documenting the evidence.
Now I'm not in any way saying that the website is perfect and every take they have is warranted, which is the nature of a website that allows discourse from all over the political and social spectrums. But that's part of another issue I have with the perception of the entire website; it can't be painted with a broad brush. Some of the users have opinions I heavily disagree with, while other members lean more toward my own views and opinions. Which I think is ultimately a GOOD THING. It allows people to be exposed to views and perspectives outside of their own world view, which encourages dialogue and possibly understanding things they wouldn't have without those discussions. The one thing I can say for sure about KF is it's not an echo chamber by any stretch of the imagination.
In a lot of ways, KF reminds me of the forums of the early 2000s. Anonymity is pretty much required there for the safety of the members, and the integrity of the information that gets presented about dangerous individuals. Certain extremist viewpoints are not tolerated there, but as long as nobody goes too far, all viewpoints are openly discussed. The language use by some of the members is pretty heavy and I don't personally agree with it or participate in the use of that language, but think about it like this; would you rather have the people who think it's funny to use slurs or other forms of hateful speech shoved into an echo chamber with a bunch of other people exactly like them to escalate that speech into hateful beliefs and actions, or would you rather have them exposed to people who will challenge those views and offer other perspectives for them to think about?
tl;dr: KiwiFarms isn't perfect, but it's not the evil pit a lot of people seem to think it is.

What your ranking to all the boys I have loved before movie ?
the first one
the third one
100 feet of dirt
the second one
i find the love triangle to be really unnecessary like even tho i read the books i don't understand the hype of john ambrose. it's just divisive, the entire 1st movie/book becomes pointless thanks to book/movie 2 imo. like learning that peter was actually waiting for gen in the hot tub was also unwarranted and diminished the weight of the 1st one.

I know we talk about Jon's dad defending Lando on social media a lot, but seeing Oscar's own relatives needing to defend him already when he hasn't even participated in an actual F1 race yet just makes me sad. NOT because he doesn't deserve the support and defense (he absolutely does), but just the differences in the things they have to defend them against. Basically every "Jon's dad" comment I have personally seen has been him debunking some "Lando sucks! He has no race craft and will never win a race" comment or some weird conspiracy theory claiming McLaren favors him and sabotages Dan. Very rarely was it ever actually attacking who Lando is as a person. Most of the comments I've seen Oscar's relatives respond to are personally attacking him and his morals - calling him a punk, a thief, talking about how he and Webber are schemers who betrayed Daniel, talking about how he betrayed his entire country, etc. I don't know, I honestly just feel sympathy for Oscar in how his welcome (or lack thereof) to F1 has been. He has had several influential people slandering him and who he is as a person since summer break, and now a toxic portion of a fan base slandering him and who he is as a person (and mostly just parroting the things those Alpine higher-ups said), and the way Oscar has carried himself through it all takes, imo, a lot of character and morals. I'm NOT going to get my hopes up because the universe has a weird way of crushing my hopes and dreams as a McLaren fan ( 💀😭 ), but I honestly hope 2023 is full of good things for both Oscar and Lando, and gives both opportunities to prove their doubters wrong. I have a feeling, even if it takes a while for him to adjust to F1, Oscar will prove himself to be a great talent as well, and I hate that both of these drivers have received so much frankly, unjustified and unwarranted hatred and vitriol, sent their way.
I've said it before and I'll continue to, this is why I don't look at comment sections and why I don't have twitter. The level of unnecessary venom aimed at drivers and teams is just upsetting and 96% of the time unwarranted (leaving that 4% for when it's validly calling them out on shit they should be called out for)
The way Oscar has conducted himself through this whole thing, literally since the Alpine tweet announcing him, has been extremely professional and he's 21. He's 21 and he's been more mature about it than some other people involved (looking at a particular OS in Alpine....) and I've been really impressed by it. I'm also glad his family is so supportive and looking out for him
Unfortunately he's replacing a fan favourite who brings with him a fan base that's half chill and understanding, and half willing to burn the entirety of the sport to the ground for slighting "their" driver - he was always going to get the nasty comments. Obviously that doesn't make it right or acceptable, but it isn't surprising to me at all and I'm glad that he seems to have a support system in place to help him manage it until it calms down. I'm hoping that with a certain other Aussie not leaving the sport entirely and seeming to get exactly what he wanted out of his RB deal, the hatred will relax a little next season
I can't get my hopes up too high, 21 into 22 has taught me NOT to do that lol, but I'm really looking forward to seeing Oscar at McLaren and seeing how him and Lando work together, and I'm hoping more for Lando's sake than the team's really that he doesn't have to carry McLaren basically alone again

Unpopular Opinion;I'd rather have show!Annabeth as a kid with dark hair and eyes. Honestly, the whole "grey eyed blonde Athena kids" was odd in the books, and would be even worse in live action,IMO. While I like seeing fanarts of show!Annabeth with blonde hair and/or grey eyes,I don't see why this detail has to be faithful to the books. Besides,I feel the same about Percy,if to a lesser degree.
Yeah.
Sorry for answering this so late, I’m not really active on Tumblr therefore I tend to forget to check whether or not I’ve received some asks and I tend to take a while for answering them anyways. Also, this is going to get very long and rambly, so prepare yourselves!
My opinion on this whole casting situation and book accuracy is: I legit don’t give a fuck. More than that, I just side-eye people that were freaking the fuck out.
I essentially cut contact with 98% of this fandom (aside from few core groups) and left Tumblr last year because it’s a toxic mess and I try to avoid other PJO related social media branches (with the exception for AO3 for dumping my Percabeth fics, next one coming up soon <3) because they’re more than often even WORSE (!) than this hellsite but I still can’t escape casting news. So it’s incredibly hilarious to see so many people freaking the fuck out over something they have little to no control about.
My wonderful friend @mapendo-c essentially brought it to the point with this post but let me add my two cents to this entire situation:
2020 was hell on tumblr for the black crowd, let’s not act like it wasn’t (it was hell for black people in general if you care enough to remember). From harrassing the black PJO Tumblr side, to straight up lying to us, to doxxing, to us being called slurs in DMs and asks, to receiving open death threats and being sent lynching videos, we had it ALL. Some people that were directly confronted with this shit victimized themselves and fled the scene to this day, literally going out with a bang. Congratulations for that, BTW.
And that was only because a few people started to create PJO artwork that involved Percy of Color. Being more open to otherness. Critizing the white status quo and branching out. Questioning the constant projection onto these characters. That set a chain reaction into other endeavors and arguments but alas, this is already enough babbling.
The fact that we had over 17 years of artwork and fics and videos and movies filled with Cocaine White Percy wasn’t enough for some of you. No, you had to break the spirits of those that are a minority and do not look like you. All of that shit was so unwarranted and unnecessary.
And then when you got warm to the idea of Token Black Percy (in 2021 might I add), you were delighted to see that he would be indeed white in the TV series as announced in the past few months. But oh wait… What was that?? Is it a bird, is it a plane? No?
ANNABETH ISN’T WHITE.
The whole world just got hit by a big rock and the apocalypse is nearing. The way some of y’all acted… Doing the same exact vile shit that you were doing in 2020 to a twelve year old, because she got the role of her life (so far) in portraying a major fictional character… The fact that y’all lost your goddamn mind without having even seen Leah act is MIND-BLOWING.
The same people accusing the black side of the fandom of likely being aggressive towards White TV Show Percy (before casting confirmation which also — newsflash — didn’t happen) are now the same fucking people freaking out about Leah as Annabeth. Tale as old as time.
I said this two years ago and most of y’all stank bitches proved me right: “Let’s be real: if Annabeth Chase would be black for example with the way she behaves, 85% of the fandom would hate her, cry for Perachel and Percabeth would be the least popular ship. I don’t trust people who are saying the opposite.”
As if anything else was about to happen… if I’m to believe certain Twitter threats and Reddit posts (taken with the biggest grain of salt ofc), some people where close to unaliving themselves because we all seemed to collectively have forgotten that Annabeth stans (this is coming from a core Percabeth shipper, so don’t come for me!) are fucking INSANE. Imagine loosing your shit on a harmless decision like a differing casting choice. Some of y’all need psychiatric help, ESPECIALLY looking at you
“I can’t be racist, because I’m neurodivergent” crowd!!
I absolutely do not get why people get worked up about this. The minute a live version (aka NOT animation) project was announced, all of you should have collectively kissed the idea of a 100% book accurate adaptation goodbye, just as with the movie version.
Do I think the show version will be closer to the books?
Yes.
Do I think it’ll be a 1 on 1 adaptation?
Absolutely not.
The announcement of the blind casting and therefore going for talent approach should’ve cemented the fact that this show won’t be book accurate at all.
How difficult is it to understand for some of you that the image of Annabeth, Percy, the storyline and everything else that you made up in your mind will NEVER be depicted on screen??? This is purely from a logical standpoint. I know Disney has resources and shit but they aren’t infinite. They have to break even eventually. I guess none of y’all have absolutely any idea how the medium of film works behind the scenes.
Even Riordan’s (as the author with actual authority) initial version is impossible to bring to the screen. Trust me, there will be other things omitted or added to the show. You can either tune in, or don’t. It’s as simple as that. That is the only thing you can influence.
Coming to the next point: do all of these changes even matter?!
Stripping Annabeth and Percy of their default hair/eye/skin color doesn’t really change anything that significantly imo??
If you are reducing Annabeth and Percy to their appearance and not the character, what they have as traits and could represent that’s on you, sweetie.
Additionally, most of y’all are ignoring the polar opposite: the nuances and depth Black Annabeth (less so White Percy tbh) could add are entirely forgotten. How they could enrich the story, bring other perspectives in and give in Annabeth’s case the opportunity for black girls that are sexualized and treated like complete shit everywhere else on the planet (anti blackness and misogynoire say hello!) a chance to see themselves portrait in a multi-dimensional character but NOOOOOOOO!
Y’all act as if Californian Dream girl blonde, tall, tanned Anna Bethany “my father went to Harvard and I’m a descendant of Scandinavian royalty and only white people live in Sweden” Chase lives the same life and is equally as oppressed as characters like Hazel or Beckendorf. You know… the little black girl that lived through segregation, got cursed, killed and resurrected and has Hitler as her fucking half-sibling, and the token negro who was one of the very FEW diverse characters in the OG book series that got BLOWN THE FUCK UP as a plot point.
Like GIRL?! (Nella Rose voice:) ARE YOU NOT EMBARASSSSSED?!
I’m not saying that Annabeth doesn’t have her fair share of issues, all I’m saying is SHE’S NOT FUCKING OPPRESSED. Her problems are not the same in comparison to Hazel, Piper, Leo, Beckendorf, Reyna and others. I know white women loooove playing the victim (see: current real world issues where instead of listening to the warnings of black and brown women and people decades ago, they just sat around until they were on the receiving end for once), but no. This is not the fucking same.
Don’t act like it.
“Oh but the dumb blonde stereotype...“
DOESN’T EVEN FUCKING MATTER?!
Not only that, you could use that for show Percy for all that I care now that his actor won’t be forced to dye his hair/wear contacts. Percy gets treated by all fronts like an idiot (thank you, Annabeth), let him be the one proving people wrong about the dumb blond thing.
As if there aren’t other white female (main) characters that you can latch yourselves onto if you feel like projecting. And you still can, because the OG book series is still a fucking thing!! This is all about the show!
Like you, @mrhomerxsimpson have said, the OG descriptions sound unrealistic and would look tacky in the live action. Fanart ≠ real portrayal of characters. Having sparkly glowing sea green eyes would look weird in reality. The focus of Annabeth’s on her gray eyes… this is readable but would likely transfer poorly onto the screen.
And let’s not forget the trashy exotic portrayal of Cinnamon Toast Hazel and Kaleidoscope Eyed Piper. Let’s just let people and characters of color chill for a while. Please.
I’ve said it ages ago and I’m too lazy to look it up but I think that as long as Percy and Poseidon reassemble each other slightly, the show will be fine. And if these people can act. Also important.
Which brings me to my final point/question: How are some of you unable to understand that different adaptations of the same enterprise can coexist and be just fine?
Book Annabeth
Movie Annabeth
TV Show Annabeth
There is a reason why you can filter the universe (book, tv show, movie, etc.) in which your story is set on AO3 and FFN. Because not all universes are the same!!!
Rowling is trash but as an easy to understand analogy: if you think about the Harry Potter franchise…
is Emma Watson automatically Hermione Granger for you? Is Daniel Radcliffe automatically Harry Potter?
Because whenever I’ve read a HP Fic they’ve NEVER come up in my mind. Emma Watson is Movie Hermione, but she’s not THE Hermione. She isn't any better or worse than Stage Adaptation Hermione. Watson certainly isn’t the Hermione in my head.
Dr. Who is a sorta weak comparison but there are a million different Doctors sooo what??
Can’t you separate different versions of the same medium? The same core story just with different faces for the same role? Am I in the minority with this??
Book Annabeth is Book Annabeth, Alexandra Daddario is Movie Annabeth and Leah will be TV Show Annabeth. And none of that is in conflict with each other.
If you still want to create moodboards and artworks with Surinamese!Percy, Haitian!Grover and Desi!Annabeth, no one’s stopping you!
If you see Aryan, Walker and Leah as the new default and want to create artwork with their likenesses, also fine!
If you want to go all white like Burdge and Viria have over ten years ago… lame and side-eye worthy but ultimately your decision.
If you want to do all of the above, go ahead!
Just chill and wait till next year when the show finally hits before y’all start throwing tantrums, jeez. Oh wait. Too late!
Peace out.
TL;DR: It really doesn’t fucking matter how TV series Annabeth or Percy look like. Their actors need to act and that’s about it. However, I agree that the book portrayals (at least to a certain degree) would look tacky on screen. Also, this fandom is trash.
Stop being dickheads and I’m out until November or so for my new finished fic.

Am I wrong in thinking all the negative criticism towards Jensen is unwarranted. I mean yes the prequel situation was a mess but I am just finding it hard to believe this man's whole personality did a 360 shift from likeable to being a complete asshole. He is human with flaws which is what people say but for some reason his flaws have made him enemy #1. I don't expect for everyone to like him but the constant bitching and complaining about who he is as a person is exhausting.
To preface, I don't think all the recent criticism is unwarranted. After being involved in the last several seasons of SPN's decline, coming out with a premise for a prequel that seems like an obvious massive retcon, not having any previous experience with showrunning/writing-level storytelling/producing, handling the whole thing weirdly and outright badly in a few places, and then not seeming to be willing to ameliorate fans' pretty understandable skepticism with anything more than "Trust Us!"? I'm bored to death with all the repetitive "but that's not canon!" nitpicking over every minor new revealed detail, but fandom's gonna fandom and it has been ... a bit of a mess, IMO. As to the more personal and overarching stuff, though?
It's not 100% new. It was just that during the active run of the show, Jensen and Jared said much the same things during publicity and Jensen's always been the least active on social media, so there was very little to paint him as Enemy #1 over. Not that there weren't attempts if he acknowledged Misha's existence without prompting (OMG he's pandering to the hellers!!!) or didn't praise Jared early enough or effusively enough in solo interviews (Ugh, he didn't do the show by himself!!!). But by and large there was nothing even the biggest wankers could go on about for more than a week without looking like obvious tools.
Now there's a big justifiable Reason to scrutinize everything Jensen has ever done or said as well as everything he does and says from this point forward in light of his being Clearly Awful Actually! Now that The Truth has been revealed, the same exact way he's done publicity for years is embarrassingly bad. His dry sense of humor and grumpy persona is proof he's an asshole. He really is actually a homophobe for not wanting to be involved in shipping. Etc. This is, of course, entirely different than hellers/AAs/minions doing the exact same thing with Jared's questionable service staff tweets or getting in that barfight being the Reason he's awful and scrutinizing his every action before and since for more proof he's A Horrible Person. Because because.
It's the same dumb bullshit of needing their fave/cause to be "winning" which has to involve someone else "losing" to lord it over, or what's even the point? I find it best to ignore it or make fun of it, depending on mood, because it's really not worth taking seriously.

perhaps a hot take on Lusamine but i always figured that Gamefreak tried to make her redeemable even in the original games... the only difference being that we don't see Lusamine change that much in SM since she entered a coma, and in USUM her motivations were twisted and the way she suddenly acts all nice to her kids makes her progress as a character relatively contrived + both her children seem to dismiss her abusive actions unlike in SM.
speaking of change, i always see people claim that Lusamine was always abusive towards her kids and that the neurotoxins from Nihilego (admitedly i can't recall when its stated that Lusamine was exposed to the toxins, did Gladion say that on Mount Lanakila?) only heightened her cruelty, but i don't think this is the case as both Lillie (on Exeggutor Island) and Gladion (on Mount Lanakila) state that Lusamine changed when her husband disappeared + when the toxins got to her, so she couldn't had been abusive towards them before -- sure, some abusers have good moments with their children only to make a 180 and mistreat them, but if that was what happened then at least one of the Aether siblings would've mentioned Lusamine "constantly switching", leading to a chaotic and unpredictable environment -- but this did not happen so i doubt Lusamine was really evil before Mohn's disappearance.
while its true that Nihilego's neurotoxins amplify instincts instead of making someone outright evil, Lusamine's instincts were to find her husband, and she must've already been desparate to achieve this while she was being intoxicated -- but not to the point where she will hurt her children. i believe it was only after she was injected was when she sank into insanity and ultimately did her best to keep everything in the same state before she lost Mohn because she doesn't want to lose anyone or anything again + her goal shifted from finding Mohn to entering Ultra Space to meet the UBs. this is why i don't believe that Lusamine was always abusive and that the neurotoxins only made her worse; she was not in mental clarity and was desparately trying to find her husband, the neurotoxins caused those instincts to amplify and in the end her goals shifted entirely.
the whole neurotoxins thing seems like some sort of analogy for substance/alchohol abuse, which i won't get into because it's a more sensitive topic and i'd rather someone more knowledgeable speak on it instead, but in my opinion a happier ending where Lusamine repairs her bonds with her kids has always suited the story better. both Lillie and Gladion seem willing to forgive their mother, neither of them excused her actions (okay but honestly Lillie kinda seemed like she did) but they understood it because she was grief-striken (and yes i know someone understanding someone's actions doesn't mean they'll forgive them), and Gladion's apology towards her seems to point to him having sympathy towards her, which is why i think Gladion forgiving her isn't exactly a far-fetched idea + at the end of the story both siblings still make the conscious decision to have ties with their mother (Lillie leaving for Kanto to help her recover and Gladion seemingly wanting to fix Lusamine's mistakes by overtaking as President, both decisions i am against narratively but it is what it is ☹️). besides, Lusamine is a fictional character so its perfectly fine for us to wonder if a redemption arc for her will strengthen the established narrative/support the story's message rather than think "does she deserve it?" as if she's a real person -- and while this is subjective (just like everything else i said) i think her being redeemed isn't exactly unwarranted, ofc all this depends on your interpretation of the events in the first place, but the story aether siblings witnessing Lusamine before, during, and after the "losing Mohn and neurotoxins" shenanigans just makes a bittersweet/happier ending a great fit for the family.
TDLR: imo Lusamine was always meant to be redeemable and i think there's a lot of misunderstanding regarding her character as people made up their own narratives (e.g claiming her to always be abusive) instead of looking at official sources, of course i might've made some mistakes and misunderstood some stuff as well so feel free to tell me if thats the case
edit: i wanna add that i do not condone Lusamine's abusive behaviour at all lmao she was wrong for what she did and in the end its up to the Aether Siblings and Gamefreak to decide what they wanna do to her, i just tried explaining from how Gamefreak likely wanted to portray Lusamine (admitedly this decision was rather arbitrary) + how i think Lillie and Gladion will deal with her in the future

howard asking fans about their sexual fantasies with harry was…not cool though. the conveyor belt thing was way off too and the way he kept playing the getting yourself wet line over and over..…i don’t think sex talk is the problem, it’s just how invasive and obnoxious he is you know what i mean? but i’ll say, i think harry came prepared definitely and he dealt with everything wonderfully. there were a bunch really interesting bits that i enjoyed a lot, just like the last one. i just don’t like howard stern and imo thats not childish or unwarranted, he’s just always made me extremely uncomfortable.
If you don't like Howard, that's cool, I get it--no worries! But then that probably means you didn't listen to it, you just read some outraged edited quotes from someone else, which also means you missed a LOT (if not all) of the context, which is on par for the One Direction fandom course. I just listened to the rest of the show because the sexual fantasy part you referenced in your ask isn't even in the interview, it's something that was part of multiple calls that happened before Harry showed up (it was actually a fairly funny juxtaposition with the other calls that was very telling in its own way). The getting yourself wet line was actually written by Harry Styles, not Howard Stern (who didn't, in fact, play that line "over and over," he played it in the background of a longer convo where he said this song was speakin' his language, and if he (Howard) had the power to write that kind of music for his wife, he'd never stop doing it. (I missed the conveyer belt part entirely, and I'll look for it in the video version, but I doubt it's gonna enrage me). This is Harry's second time on this show, and he was game for everything that happened during it--he's a rich, nearly 30YO celeb who knows the score, and the score in this case is a Howard Stern interview. I get that he's not everyone's cup of tea, but that's okay? There's a very strange need for a significant chunk of Harry's fandom to only see interactions they approve of and to mischaracterize the ones they don't--makes no cents to me, especially when this was nowhere near as invasive or obnoxious as it could have been (in fact, you could argue so many recent ones that were far worse, but they don't have the stern stigma).

Killing of traditional rulers in Imo abominable, must stop – LP guber candidate, Achonu
Tumblr media
The Labour Party governorship candidate in Imo, Athan Nneji Achonu has decried the increasing levels of insecurity and criminality in the state, which have resulted in killings and damage to both public and private property. Reacting to last week’s killing of the Traditional Ruler of Nguru Autonomous Community in Aboh-Mbaise local government area of the State, His Royal Majesty, Eze James Nnamdi, the former Senator lamented what he described as; “the abominable disregard for the sanctity of human life and defilement of our cherished traditional institution”. He called on all actors to seize fire and allow the state to experience some peace and stability. In his words; “It is saddening that our state has recently descended into clear anarchy, where brutes run riot without any restraint and blood is spilt on a daily basis, with the current government apparently short of ideas on how to handle the situation. I commiserate with the people of Nguru, Ndi Mbaise and the entire Imolites on this yet another unwarranted killing of our people and urge the governor to rise to the occasion and save our people”. He urged Imolites to key into the Take Back Imo agenda, as that is the only guarantee at this time for a safer and more prosperous Imo. “It is obvious from what is going on in our state that the current governor lacks ideas on how to tackle the incessant killings in the state. Whatever might be the case, I want to urge Imolites to stay committed to the “Take Back Imo” agenda, as we are set to bring back sanity and cleanse our state of all the madness currently going on in it.” He concluded.
