So I dragged myself kicking and screaming and, yes, mostly in denial, through the last episodes of A Journey to Love.
My thoughts can be summarized as follows:
Tumblr media
Obviously this is mainly due to me being horrifically traumatized by Yuan Lu’s death. After all, they told us from the get go he wouldn’t live to 20. They made it clear he had a deadly heart disease. And then. They had the nerve. They had the audacity. They had the actual fucking bahoonga BALLS to follow through!?
But then I found myself sobbing at literally every good guy death scene, plus all of the mourning scenes. The latter was in large part thanks to Alen Fang's acting - deepest apologies to him for just referring to his character as 'the slutty one' for the majority of the show. Not that I was wrong. Also thanks to strong performances from He Lan Dou for Yuan Lu's death.
Anyway so I need to add this gif x4 for the Liudao Hall babies:
Qian Zhao, da ge, who made mistakes but always did right in the end
Sun Lang, who just wanted to hold something fluffy at the end, dying a hero
Yuan Lu, who died in his princess's arms after running to deliver a letter rendered useless by the Emperor of An's greed.
Yu Shisan, who lived as he lived and had such a happy moment with Chu Yue right before it all became irrevocable.
When they added Yu Shisan to the snowball fight, I just about lost it. Liu Yuning's acting there - having the realization about Shisan's death as he watched them play in real time was so well done. Really hurt.
Plus I'll make a couple of versions with edits.
Tumblr media
For the Wu Emperor. I knew it was gonna happen from the spoilers but damn, him genuinely learning the value of friendship and brotherly love made me root for him. Dude did not deserve to go out like that. Thank goodness for the magic of CDramas where he lived just long enough to pass on his will to Ning Yuanzhou, and do one last act of good.
It also ensured Duke of Chu was able to pass on his command to his daughter, Chu Yue, before dying of the same (was not clear if her bro died or not, or if dad was always going to choose her).
And for Deng Hui. Started out thinking he was just a sexist bastard. Turns out he was one of the most principled characters in the show.
Their deaths didn't make me cry, but I respect them.
Also loved Chen Du Ling's (Empress of Wu) small part in this. I may not like all of her characters but she can deliver a scene and hold a room. It was a bit cathartic to see her put every man in their place, and basically decide the fate of two countries, even though her lament that she'd only ever have power through another held true.
Ah Ying, my baby girl. This is a character that could have turned people off from the beginning. Thanks to strong writing and stronger acting, it did not. I was super impressed with He Lan Dou. She can dial it up and dial it down in a single take, and can play big dramatic scenes with a subtlety that some older actors cannot grasp. This was the first thing I've seen her in, though for her and Chen You Wei (Yuan Lu) I might watch Tiger and Crane if someone tells me it's good.
I still think Li Tongguang is a perverted and creepy child, who never managed to learn (except in literally the last ep), but at least I trust that he will treat Ah Ying well. I don't hold it against him for screwing up the battle - he was trying to be benevolent but made a bad choice.
The main couple win it for me this year. What an inspired pairing. They beat out heavy hitters including Bai Lu x Everyone which was near impossible. Something to do with letting Liu Shi Shi use Liu Yuning's height against him at every possible moment. Also the 'if you die, I'll finish the job and then follow you' is my favorite dynamic. I swear when Ruyi threw those bombs, NOT NEEDING TO HAVING ALREADY SUCCEEDED AT KILLING THE KING AND PRINCE, just to join him, y'all I died. Good for whoever posthumously gave her the Marquis title on her own (not just furen) - couldn't tell if it was Li Tongguang acting as regent or Dayang (great shot of those two at the end).
The final episode was one of the best final cdrama episodes I've seen. I might have to make another post about that. In sum, despite losing a large portion of the well-loved cast, the remainder gave a world-class finale. The visuals were incredible (explosions are my favorite). The final scene was beautiful (though I'm a bit surprised they gave it to Chu Yue instead of Ah Ying who knew all 6 of them closely).

Songs That Remind Me of BL Characters & Couples
@zimmbzon kindly tagged me in their post, prompting me to share the first ten songs in my On Repeat playlist. Highly recommend checking theirs out, because mine is...rather basic. And becauuuuse it's basic, I'm gonna add another layer to this and tell you which BL character or couple perfectly matches the vibe of each song.
Tumblr media
1 | "imperfect for you" by Ariana Grande: This one's off her new "please feel sad for me because even though I'm messy when it comes to love I still have feelings" album. I may have listened to this one "on repeat," because it's just cathartic to two-step to these lyrics: "I'm fucked up / anxious / too much / but I'll love you / like you need me to / imperfect for you." What's that? Self-awareness? Respect. I just know Ming from My Stand-In would have the audacity to sing this to body-swapped Joe.
Tumblr media
2 | "Acid Dreams" by MAX and Felly: Could not tell you who either of these people are but this song is a snap-worthy bop that got me feeling myself every time it comes on -- probably because it opens with: "You look so good in a night gown girl / freckles on your face / lemme kiss each one." This was clearly meant for my generation, because there is not a single human under 30 in possession of a night gown. But Khem from Deep Night would 1,000% use this song to charm the pants off of someone.
3 | "Toco Toco To" by Dixson Waz: I'm Dominican. And even though I understand Spanish, I cannot for the life of me tell you what this man is saying, but I can assure you it is inappropriate. Rated NC-17 without a doubt. And for that reason, I'd pair this song with the entire cast of Playboyy -- just casually playing this in the background of one of their random, impromptu, midday sex parties.
Tumblr media
4 | "Lie to Me" by Meghan Trainor: Obsessed. Not with her. With her music. She has so many non-butt-related songs that are worth a listen. I truly feel like she's underrated -- on par with Ed Sheeran -- and she doesn't get enough credit for it. In this track, she sings: "I don't want the truth / I want you." That sounds exactly like our lovesick boy Nick in Only Friends, thirsting after anti-monogamy Boston like he didn't know better.
5 | "Jealous" by Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, & Big Sean: While it is true that every single person on this track is problematic, including producer DJ Khaled, the swagger is immaculate. Every time it comes on, I, sincerely, close my eyes and just picture BTS's rap line to cleanse the beat. Not gonna miss out on a banger because men are the worst. Anywayyyy, the most jealous character I can think of is Way from Pit Babe, who tried to r-word his "bestie" because he chose a random nerd over him. He fits in well with these clowns.
Tumblr media
6 | "Bounce Back" by Little Mix: The only British pop girl group I've ever intentionally streamed is Spice Girls, but the algorithm clearly thought it meant I'd like this group, and the track that hooked me was one that sampled the iconic Soul II Soul's "Back to Life." Instant replay. Someone I think lives and breathes the mantra "You can have me however you want me / however you need me" is the Sultan of Simp, Karan from Cherry Magic (Thailand). Achi could've asked for a kidney, and he would've delivered. But coming in a close second is obviously Rain from Love in the Air. Payu had to practically beat him off with a stick -- no pun intended.
Tumblr media
7 | "Body" by Loud Luxury and Brando: It's the buildup to the chorus for me -- come to find out many listens later that it's about a guy who is begging a girl to sleep with him because he's been "waiting too long." 🙄 This one very obviously goes to Yuan from Unknown, who damn near disintegrated Qian's clothes the minute he saw even the glimmer of a green light. Talk about a slow build.
Tumblr media
8 | "Into You" by Fabolous feat. Tamia: Back in 2003, rappers used to drop an R&B hit every now and then to remind women that they were romantics. The gaslight kings of the aughts. So in this track, this duo talks about an inexplicable-but-undeniable connection, which only makes me think of Vegas and Pete from KinnPorsche. Those two needed a PowerPoint presentation to explain to their friends and family how they went from hostage situation to star-crossed lovers. But we got nothing -- just good vibes and patricide.
Tumblr media
9 | "i wonder..." by j-hope feat. Jung Kook: Do I miss them? Yes. Will I listen to any BTS track that's easy to Namjoon to? Yes. Now that we got that out of the way: This song is about enjoying the moment and not wasting the good times by dreading the future. And that just screams Be My Favorite to me. Kawi just kept trying to time-travel his way to a hetero fantasy, not realizing his queer happily ever after was standing right in front of him the whole time in the gorgeous form of the eternally patient Pisaeng.
Tumblr media
10 | "MY HOUSE" by Beyoncé: Not to bring up BTS again, but 👀...j-hope would body any choreography set to this song. Without breaking a sweat. And mother would be proud. On this track, the Queen B speaks of once dreaming of the wealth, fame, and stability she has now, and making sure to only keep positive people around her, because love heals. Sailom from Dangerous Romance would certainly relate to having similar dreams and beliefs, and effortlessly exudes equally feisty bad bitch energy. I still can't get over how he disarmed his bully (and future love interest), Kanghan, by basically saying, "You clearly like me. Shut up." And saying it with tongue.
That was fun. 🤸🏿‍♂️

“Okay, all packed?” Kevin asks, patting your shoulder and readjusting your bag straps.
“Yeah, I’ve got everything,” you stumbled slightly under the weight.
“Extra clothes? Cloak? Some pocket change? Journal and pen? Extra shoes? Snacks? Sleeping bag? Pillows?”
“Kevin! I have everything,” you stopped him before he could say anything more. He took a deep breath. You slipped your bag off to show him the contents, seeing everything that he mentioned packed in there.
“You know… I’d come with you if I could,” he says, “and I really really want to,” his voice was now heavy with melancholy.
“Kev, I’ll be fine,” you offered him the widest smile you could. You didn’t want to leave. But you didn’t want to be a pawn meant to be thrown away either. Kevin’s hand never left your shoulder, instead he pulled you into a tight hug, as if this would be the last time he’d be able to hold you at all. With his arms around your shoulders, he pressed his head against yours, and you could only wrap your arms around him too. Would this be the last time you saw him?
The reality of the situation just came crashing down on you. Once you get to Stardenn, no doubt, you wouldn't be able to leave. In fact, the possibility of you starting an all-out war between the Qian and the Huang families is entirely probable. You'd have to change your name, your appearance, your story, and everything else about you. Would you ever see any of your family members again after that? The only other possibility is that you make your way to Bleakgate, to your fiance who is waiting to meet you, and to sign your name and your abilities away to that family.
Either way... you lose who you are. If you could hold your brother any tighter, you did just now. Your only regret, well, actually there are many, are that your last conversation with your parents was an argument and that you didn't get to say goodbye to your other siblings. What kind of cruel trick of fate is this?
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, (Y/N), I’m sorry I failed you as a brother,” he cried into your shoulder. You held him tight to you.
“No, don’t be sorry, Kev, it was out of your control,” you reassured him.
“Please, please be safe on your way to Stardenn,” he says it more like a prayer to whatever god is above you rather than a request to you. “It’s dangerous out there, (Y/N), you can only trust yourself and please, by god, do not reveal your abilities. It’ll give you away in an instant,” he pleads.
“I know that! I’m not going to go around freezing people, Kev!”
“At least I can hide my abilities, you know? Stardenn is going south, there’s no snow down there,” he says.
“I know, I know, Kev! I’ll be okay,” you reassured him again. “I’ll write as soon as I get to Stardenn, I promise,” you held his hand tightly and picked up your bag with your other hand. “But… Kev, let me know if anything happens. I know you have the ability to find me, so if the situation suddenly turns you need to tell me and I’ll change due course to Bleakgate,” you said solemnly. Kevin only shook his head.
“Whatever alternative you face out there will be much more favorable than what House Huang has planned for you,” he says. He takes a deep breath and holds open the door for you. You both had to leave quickly and in secret, thus, the only likely exit was through the servants’ exit in the kitchens. You looked out the door. It was a chilled night with not a single cloud in the sky and with miles of stars to light your path. “Are you… are you ready to go?” He asks again. You looked down, gone were your riches and silks and instead they had been replaced with common clothes taken from the servants’ quarters. You adjusted your cap and nodded your head. “Okay, one more thing,” Kevin leans forward and tucks your hair under your cap. “It’s infinitely harder for a woman to be traveling on her own, until you make it to Stardenn, you must pretend to be a man, can you do that? You cannot reveal your identity, your abilities, or your gender. It’s just a precaution to make it safely to Stardenn, then you can deck out in all the dresses you want,” he adds with a weak laugh. Kevin knew much more about the world than you did, you had nothing else to go upon.
"Okay, yes, I can do that," you nodded unsurely. Kevin was hiding something from you. Something about your situation, your marriage to House Huang, you could tell from the way he was trying to avoid your eyes. Kevin, who was always the more expressive of the four children, was hiding a huge secret about your political marriage, and for him to do that, you know, it must be something horrible, something he's chosen to spare you the fear of knowing. It must be something horrific if he's decided to go through such lengths to prevent your marriage to the militaristic house, to try to offer himself first in your stead. You owe him so much, and you haven't the slightest idea how to pay him back.
“If it’s hard… just pretend to be me, okay? It’s easier to pretend than it is to lie,” he says. You nodded your head again, making sure all the stray hairs were tucked and hidden securely. “Oh, and this too,” he unbuckles his belt and clasps it around you instead, your left hip weighing down. You looked at the new addition and shook your head.
“No! Oh, no, Kevin, I can’t take this,” you reached to unsheathe the sword at your hip, but Kevin stops you.
“(Y/N), I can’t be there to protect you, so… this is the best that I can do,” he says.
“But I know next to nothing about swordsmanship,” your hands wrapped around the hilt and he shook his head.
“What do you mean? You watched Byul and I spar every day,” he says. “Don’t pretend that you didn’t mirror our moves with a quill,” he laughs. “Keep it, (Y/N), and it will keep you safe,” he insists. You look down at it again, seeing the orange calcite gem glimmer back at you. You looked at the bracelet around your wrist, the lapis lazuli gem seemed to react with the sword. The manifestations of two seasons with one person. “I can always get another one,” Kevin senses your unease. You sighed, there was so much more you wanted to say, but you only had so much time to leave before the guards would begin their morning rounds.
“Thank you, Kevin, I owe you so much that I can’t even begin to fathom how I’m going to repay you once I’m safe,” you said with a soft smile. Kevin only shook his head.
“Any good brother would help his sister this way,” he refutes. "If you want to repay me back so soon then... then I'd better get a letter from you with a postal stamp from Stardenn within the next month, alright?" He says, playfully nudging your shoulder.
"I will do that then," you nodded. “Then, I will see you soon, I promise,” your eyes held sincerity in them and Kevin’s shoulders relaxed.
“Be safe, (Y/N), and may the Fates bless your journey,” he watches you step out into the vast.

“Your highness! You need to calm down!” Doyoung shouts. Renjun’s shoulders hiked up for a moment, his hands continuing to squeeze each other.
“Your highness… you’re bleeding,” Ningning steps forward and pulls Renjun’s hands apart. He hadn’t even realized that they were hurting. “I’ll return with bandages,” she runs off before Renjun could say another word. He looks to Doyoung, the family’s advisor, who was deep in thought himself.
“It just doesn’t add up, why would the Winter Noble run off?” Doyoung clicks his tongue. “There would be no reason to, unless… unless House Moon was aware of our intentions,” he unrolls a parchment over the table. “But that should be impossible, we’ve played our cards right all this time, there’s no way they could know,” he continues to mutter.
“Doyoung… what will I do? What will happen to me?” Renjun asks. Doyoung looks up from his plans, focus and intensity etched into his features.
“You will not do anything, we’ll hire a mercenary to find her instead,” he says. “We have to leave as little traces as we can back to House Huang or else it’d look suspicious,” he says. He taps on the table absently. “Renjun, your friend from military academy, the one who dropped out, what was his name again?” Renjun froze at this.
“Y-Yangyang, his name is Yangyang,” he answers.
“And this Yangyang, it is to my knowledge that he took up mercenary work following his withdrawal from academy?”
“That is correct, Doyoung.”
“How good is he at tracking?”
“Not bad, if I say so myself,” Yangyang responds. Both nobles turned to the door immediately, seeing Yangyang leaning against the doorframe with a knife twirling in his hands. “Need me to find a runaway noble? Easy,” he says while he pushes off the frame. He stands next to Renjun and rests his palms on the table in front of him. “How much?” He asks. Doyoung’s eyes glowered.
“Name your price and we will negotiate. The master is in an unfit state to rule due to his… anger, I am working as the lord regent in the meantime,” he explains. Renjun blinks, regent? His father never mentioned anything about a regent taking over, and if there was it wouldn’t be Doyoung, it would be either him or his siblings. However, Doyoung paid no mind to Renjun’s suspicions.
“I’ll take down and charge any damages, how about that?” Yangyang answers.
“And the down payment?”
“Let’s say… two million gold pieces,” Yangyang held up two fingers and Doyoung’s eye twitched in annoyance.
“Done.”
“I sup— Wait, seriously?” Yangyang seems taken aback while Doyoung nods.
“It is imperative that the Winter Noble is in our control,” Doyoung says. “House Huang is willing to pay any price to ensure her safe arrival,” he emphasizes. Yangyang nods.
“Alright, give me a description, and I’ll find her,” he nods.
“I’m afraid there’s not much to go on, House Moon was very careful in keeping their children from nobles’ eyes for a while, we had only met three of them two years ago, after all. Just look for someone with a talent in ice. In a life or death situation, I doubt any of the four siblings would be able to hide their powers.”
“Viscount Kim!” A gruff voice enters the conversation, the three redirect their attention and a soldier stands at attention.
“At ease, soldier,” Doyoung dismisses. The soldier steps forward, a letter in hand.
“This was intercepted by the messenger line, there is no return address, but there is a destination,” he says. Doyoung takes the letter, examining it carefully. There was no design on the wax seal and the paper looked old. He turns it over and reads the delivery address.
“It’s addressed to the Qian Duchy.”
“Correct, we found the letter in Kilvein, meaning that it’s possible origins were either Evercairn, Fairham, or Emberhaven,” the soldier says. Renjun listens carefully, all three territories were under House Moon, to his knowledge, while Evercairn was where the manor was located. “It’s only a hunch, sir, but it’s the best lead we got,” he says.
“The master of the house must not hear of this at all, am I clear,” Doyoung says with a dark stare. The soldier nods.
“Stardenn, then?” Yangyang cuts in. Doyoung raises an eyebrow.
“Do you intend on going alone?” Renjun asks.
“Well, this is just hypothetical, by the way, but if I were a noble lady running away from a forced marriage—”
“Arranged marriage,” Doyoung corrects.
“Tomato, tomahto,” Yangyang waves his hand, “and I saw a militia awaiting the place I was hypothetically going to take refuge in, I would turn tail and hide somewhere else,” Yangyang postulates. “A month, give me a month to find and return the Winter Noble.”
“And if you fail?” Doyoung asks.
“Shoot, do whatever then! Send our military, execute me, whatever!” Yangyang shrugs and Renjun gasps.
“We will hold you to those words, mercenary,” Doyoung says with a hint of warning in his voice. Yangyang only grins. “When will you be ready to leave?”
“Right now is fine,” Yangyang nods his head and pivots on his heel, walking out of the meeting room.
“Wait… wait! Yangyang!” Renjun stumbles after him, but not before nodding his head to Doyoung out of respect. Renjun just barely catches up with Yangyang as they turn into the armory. “Yangyang—”
“Can I borrow this?” Yangyang takes one of the swords leaning against the wall.
“Yes, go ahead,” Renjun nods. “I need to—”
“Okay, sweet, how about this one?” He takes two daggers.
“If you need it, then be my guest,” Renjun says. “I have to—”
“Should I take this too?” Yangyang holds a shield up.
“Oh, goodness, no, I know your fighting style well enough to know that a shield would just weigh you down, at most, just take an arm guard,” Renjun hands him the latter and the shield clatters to the ground. “Anyway, Yangyang—”
“So, since the Winter Noble uses elemental magic, maybe I should take a protective piece with me instead? Winter, meaning ice? Okay, what protects against ice?”
“Lapis lazuli, none of which we have in this territory, you’ll probably find more in Evercairn, but your journey won’t take you there, just avoid getting frozen,” Renjun answers. “Now, before I forget—”
“I guess I’ll travel lightly, no telling when the lady took off, so I’ll have to catch up as soon as I can,” Yangyang wonder aloud.
“Yangyang!” Renjun shouts and Yangyang looks surprised.
“Damn, no need to raise your voice, what’s up?” Yangyang asks.
“I’m coming with you!”
“Oh, no, absolutely not,” Yangyang shakes his head. Renjun looks around him before grabbing Yangyang’s arm.
“Yangyang, please, you can’t leave me here with… with them,” he whispers.
“Jun, are you kidding me? If I could take you, I would, hell, it’s your wife-to-be that I’m tracking down, but it is exactly because of your parents that I can’t take you,” Yangyang whispers back. “Your dad’s already on the brink of madness, imagine what would happen when the last of his kids who lives with him up and disappeared?” He says.
“But, Yangyang…” Renjun pleads, but he soon catches himself. Yangyang was right. The punishment for him leaving his duties here would be much more severe than if he didn’t leave at all. “Okay, I trust you, Yangyang,” Renjun says. He reaches into his pocket and hands him a small piece of parchment. “House Moon are very secretive, not much is known of them. We only know the visages of the elder three because they’ve been in public eye. Taeil is top of his class in military academy, Byulyi may be in line for a ministerial role, and Kevin… well, he’s Kevin, everyone knows him and his extravagant lifestyle,” Renjun shakes his head as he says this. “Then there’s (Y/N).”
“Ooh, wifey, huh?”
“It’s not funny, Yangyang,” Renjun grimaces. “There’s not much anyone knows about her, other than the fact that she can be rude and cruel to people,” he shivers. “So we only have a basic description of her, she was a real homebody, apparently,” he says. Yangyang unfolds the paper and reads through it. His eyebrows furrowed together.
“This is literally just her hair, skin, and eye color,” he deadpans.
“Exactly,” Renjun drags a tired hand down his face.
“Well, whatever, I just have to find the first ice magic user, right?” Yangyang shrugs.
“Well, yes, but it can’t be that simple,” Renjun shakes his head.
“What do you mean? From what you told me, her highness is sheltered. She’s never been to the outside world. So what I’m looking for is a noble woman with an insane amount of naivety who can freeze things,” Yangyang says with a confident smile. “Easier than sharpening a sword,” he reassures his friend. “I’ll be back in a month, hell, maybe even earlier,” Yangyang says.
“You… you shouldn’t have said that back there, Yangyang,” Renjun mumbles.
“Said what?”
“You gave Doyoung permission to execute you, Yangyang, he takes those things very seriously,” Renjun bites his nails.
“Oh, pish posh, I’ll be fine, have I ever failed you?”
“You dropped out of military academy!”
“Okay, well, that was more of failing myself.”
“You left me alone, Yangyang!”
“Come on, you’re fine!”
“I am now! Yangyang! Yuta and his goons shoved me into chests!”
“They what?!” Yangyang’s jaw dropped and Renjun hung his head low.
“They…” he takes a deep breath. “It’s fine, it was in the past… just… be safe, okay? You’re my only friend,” Renjun says sadly. Yangyang sighs, a small frown settling on his lips.
“Hey, come on, don’t talk like I’m going to die so easily, what did they call me back in academy?”
“Hard-headed?”
“Yeah! And I’m literally hard headed! Johnny used to try to bash my skull against a wall and the wall would crack instead!”
“Your tenacity is… outstanding,” Renjun says with concern. “Okay, okay, I’ll stop worrying about you, if anyone can handle this, you could,” Renjun backs off.
“Cool, cool, see? Your best friend’s got this job in the bag,” Yangyang laughs. “I’ll be back before you notice that I’m gone!” Yangyang attaches the weapons to his harness.
“Just be careful, Yangyang! I heard… I heard that there’s strange beasts around the roads now… you’ll never know,” Renjun reaches around his neck and pulls out charm of his necklace from beneath his shirt.. “Take this with you too, it’s a protective amulet but… I don’t know, maybe I got scammed, it hasn’t done much protecting,” Renjun laughed. Yangyang spotted the dark bruise under Renjun’s collar when he unclasped the necklace to hand it to him.
“Geez, that’s one way to get rid of trash,” Yangyang chuckles while he clasps it around his neck. “Sure, I’ll keep it safe for you, but I’m returning it as soon as I get back,” Yangyang says. “Don’t do anything stupid while I’m gone,” he says.
“Oh, please, you’re taking all the stupid with you,” Renjun rolls his eyes.
“There’s the Renjun I know,” Yangyang grins. “See you in a month!” And then Yangyang took off. Renjun held his hand up a little bit longer, a strange sense of foreboding in his heart. Something bad was going to happen. Renjun shook his head. If anything bad was going to happen, it would be to him. Yangyang’s got this uncanny ability to slip out of trouble easily, after all. Renjun took a deep breath. The wedding has been delayed a month.
Maybe he could still escape.
~
“Eek!” You jumped up as soon as you heard a bush rustle next to you. Your hands were clasped over your heart and you could feel it pumping against your chest at an ungodly pace. No way, you’d just been out for no later than an hour, imagine the embarrassment you’d have to live through in the afterlife if you’d died so quickly. Soon, a mere bunny hopped out of the shrubbery and you let out a sigh or relief.
“Ah, just a bunny,” you muttered. You relaxed and stumbled forward. You looked down and pulled Kevin’s sword from where it had gotten stuck. Sword. Right, you had a weapon and yet you hadn’t thought of using it even once so far in your journey. You pulled it out of its sheath, the gemstone at the bottom glimmering against the ornate silver hilt.
Kevin had received it as a gift from your father on his eighteenth birthday. Each of the siblings had received a gift like this at that age, Taeil’s were a pair of gloves adorned with green aventurine and Byulyi's were a set of claw rings with carnelian. Yours, meanwhile, was a simple bracelet with a beautifully carved lapis lazuli. The purpose of these charms were to keep your powers in check, and the fact that Kevin so readily handed his to you… he must trust you a great deal as well as himself. Growing up, Kevin had a nasty habit of accidentally setting things on fire, and thus was one of the first to wear the appropriate gemstone, then as a brooch, and had so far been the only exception to the eighteenth birthday rule. He was happy enough when he got upgraded, though, 'carrying a sword looked much cooler than wearing a gaudy pin,' he would say.
You looked at the way the sword glimmered in the sunlight, naturally, it reacted well. It was heavy in your hands, and while it took one hand for Kevin to wield, it took you both to hold it steady. Whatever possessed Kevin’s mind to give this to you, you were sure you’d curse it as soon as you saw him again. If anything, it was just weighing down your travels, but you couldn’t shrug away his kind intentions. You gave it a small twirl, the sword weighing your hand down enough to make it ache. True, you watched him spar with Byulyi a number of times, you understood swordsmanship in theory, but not in practice. Byulyi, namely, was gifted in fencing. Parries, lunges, and ripostes, true to Kevin’s words, you practiced all of these with a quill. Same in Kevin’s case, militant swordsmanship. Slices, thrusts, and counters, you knew all of the basics yet you lacked the ability to apply them practically.
“What use is a sword if I can barely use it?” You frowned. You sheathed it again and continued down the path to Kilvein, it was the closest town to Evercairn on the way to Stardenn. After that, you would make way to Rosebreak, and after that Hazelfall. Then, finally, your destination of Stardenn. It was a long road ahead of you, but one you were determined to take in order to ensure your safety and, if not that, your own independence. Kilvein shouldn’t be much further away, in fact, if you squinted a little, you could just barely make out the outline of the town already.
It was as if you were invigorated once more, finally seeing civilization just as the sun began to rise. You approached with a skip in your step to the town gate. The gate wasn’t manned at the moment, and you took the liberty of slipping in. Despite the early morning, the streets were busy with people bustling about the morning market, no doubt buying ingredients for breakfast. Breakfast, your stomach rumbled quietly and you glanced around, being sure that no one heard. You pulled out your small purse, counting the coins concealed in it. With a small smile, you approached the baker’s stand.
“Good morning, ma'am,” you grinned. The baker matched your smile.
“Good morning, fair lady,” she says. “Would you like any of my goods?” She inquires. You nodded, looking down at the collection.
“Just this one, please,” you pointed to the braided bread and she nods, grabbing a basket to place them inside of.
“Anything else?” She asks.
“Ah, no, it’s quite alright,” you nodded, shuffling through your coin purse to pull out the appropriate amount. Then, suddenly, a young boy bumps into you. “Goodness!” You just barely catch yourself, but once you’ve finally regained your composure, you realized a grave problem.
“That urchin, he stole your purse!” The baker looked more shocked than you.
“Why, I…” you blinked a few times, trying to process what just happened. “I’ll be right back!” You said to the baker before taking off after the boy, but, as you were running, someone else ran past you at a much faster speed, catching up to the boy in no time and grabbing him by the collar to hoist him up. The boy squeaked in surprise and the man sighs.
“You little brat give back what you stole!” The man shouts. The boy cries for a moment before dropping two bags. You just barely catch up with them. “You the owner of this one?” The man asks, holding up your purse. You could only nod, just barely catching your breath.
“That’s mine! The boy refutes.
“Sure it is, and I’m the crown prince’s lover,” the man laughs. “Ugh, it’s too early in the morning for this,” he drops the boy and hands you your purse. The boy kicks a stone under him while the man continues to tell him off.
“Ah, this may be awkward but,” you cut in and the boy and man turn to you. You just felt so bad for the young boy, he must’ve been hungry. He was so thin and dirty, you could only imagine what he had been going through. “This is actually my younger brother,” you said suddenly. The man looked unamused but the boy’s eyes shone.
“Sure.”
“Big brother!” The boy clings to you. “I barely recognized you! Since you were accepted into academy, I thought I’d never see you again!” The boy plays along easily.
“I apologize for my brother’s rashness, please look kindly upon him,” you continued, ushering the boy out of the alleyway and into the market. As soon as the man was out of earshot, you grabbed onto the boys ear harshly.
“Ow! What the heck, mister?! I thought you were on my side!” The boy grimaces.
“Why would I be on the side of a petty thief?”
“Then why did you help?”
“Didn’t you see the sword at that man’s side? He could’ve cut you down where you stood,” you narrowed your glance.
“But… you have a sword too, mister,” the boy frowns.
“Luckily for you, I don’t intend on using it,” you continued and tugged him along with you back to the baker stand, pulling out an extra gold coin. “Miss baker, I’ll take an extra loaf of…” you looked at the young boy, who only looked back at you with surprise.
“Uh… cinnamon swirl… please,” the boy mutters.
“Cinnamon swirl it is,” the baker adds the loaf to the basket and hands it to you in exchange for three gold coins. You hand the boy his loaf and you could practically see him start to salivate.
“Th… Thank you, mister!” He looks up at you with shining eyes. “You really didn’t have to,” he quickly regains his rugged composure and you laughed.
“Please, it’s nothing, consider it a lesson for stealing from people, not everyone will be as nice as me, you lucked out this time, but it would do you well not to do it again,” you pointed your finger at him and the boy nodded his head.
“Thank you,” he muttered quickly before running off. You looked at your purse. Looks like you’ll have to keep a stronger hold on it from now on, it’s a bit embarrassing that such a young child was able to pull it from your grasp so quickly. You stepped away, ready to indulge in the freshly baked bread, when someone spoke up behind you.
“You know, you shouldn’t do that,” you turned to the voice that addressed you, seeing the man from earlier. “You feed one of them and then they all run to you,” he says.
“Well, I have no intentions on staying in town any longer than today, I have a friend to meet within the month,” you crossed your arms. “And, dare I say, what I do is none of your business.”
“None of my business, huh?” He asks. His arm flies out, grabbing the arm of a child about to run past you. He shakes them lightly and your purse drops to the ground. You stare at it for a short while before the man sighs and picks it up. “You should really hold on to this tighter,” he holds it towards you.
“Noted,” you took it from him, being sure to hold it more securely. “Now, if you have no more inquiries, I must be on my way,” you walked around him.
“Where to?”
“Stardenn.”
“First rule of travel, my friend, never share your destination,” he catches up with you.
“You’re tenacious, and I find that bothersome,” you stopped to make your point before continuing.
“Hey, come on now,” he easily keeps up with you. “You’re heading to Stardenn, right? Well, guess what? You’re headed the wrong way,” he says. You stop again and look at your map briefly before pivoting on your heel to turn the other way. Still, the man keeps up with you. “Come on, you’re heading to Stardenn, I’m heading to Stardenn, let’s go together,” he insists. You ignore him yet again before he whistles to catch your attention.
“What in the heavens do you want from me?!” You shout. He holds your wallet in his hand again.
“Look, man, if you’re going to get pickpocketed at least three times in every town, you’re going to die of poverty before you do of starvation,” he says. “Let me help you out.”
“Why?” Kevin’s warning echoes in your head, trust no one. But… maybe you could keep this one in check. If worse comes to worse, you could probably just freeze him over in some secluded area in the woods. You watch him cross his arms.
“Why not? Can’t a guy do a good deed?” You’re not that naive to fall for that one.
“Good deed? Likely,” you walk up to him and attempt to take your wallet back, something which he easily moves out of your grasp. He takes a deep breath.
“Okay, let’s start over then, shall we?” He still keeps your purse out of reach as he does this. “My name’s Liu Yangyang,” he holds his hand out for you to shake it. You hesitated for a moment, wondering how you should go about this. Wait, shit, you need a fake name. You said the first one that came to mind.
“Kevin.” As soon as you said it, it took every fiber in your body not to scream. “Kevin… Sohn,” you continued. You hoped up and down that he’d fall for it and, as luck would have it, it did.
“Well, Kevin, I’m a knight in training and I’m on my way to meet a close friend in Stardenn. We have similar goals here, right? And, I'm sure you know, one of the practical exams for a knight is the safe passage of a traveler. And that would be you! All I have to do is show the captain proof at Stardenn and ba da boom ba da bang, I'm a full-fledged knight!” He explains. You, still skeptical, mull over his words while giving him a quick look down. He did have the build of a knight, something you were very familiar with in more ways than one. And, so far, he’s proved to be useful to you. "It's a good deal, right? You clearly have money and I don't. Let's work together!"
“What’s in it for me then?” You ask.
“What do you want?” He answers your question with one of his own and you huff. You really only needed safe passage to Stardenn, and you were perfectly ready to brave it on your own, but… your eyes settled on the sword at his side.
“How good are you with a sword?” You ask. Yangyang looks at you quizzically. What good is a blade if its owner couldn’t wield it? Being a knight in training, certainly, he must know his way around it. If you were to go against the wishes of the Huang family it would do you well to know how to defend yourself and, who knows, maybe a month would be the perfect time to learn the basics? Kun wasn’t so bad a swordsman himself if your memories served you correctly, whatever Yangyang taught you here would only serve to benefit you. All you had to do was to become his main sponsor and, luckily, Kevin had convinced you to travel with extra funds as a just in case.
“Considering I would’ve been kicked out of academy otherwise, pretty damn good. Why?”
“During our passage to Stardenn… teach me how to wield a sword, and then I’ll call our transaction equal,” you say. “If you think about it intuitively, it only makes sense. If I’m to fund our excursion, you teaching me the way of the sword is nothing,” you explain. Yangyang looks you over.
“Okay, sure. I can agree to those terms,” he holds his hand out and you take it, both of you sharing a firm handshake. “So… Stardenn. It’s about a three week journey, give or take, if we plan our route carefully. We’ll leave in the morning, make sure you have everything stocked up,” he says.
“Done, I can do that,” you nod. “And when do I begin my first lesson?”
“Next town over,” he says. He tosses your wallet back to you and holds a gold coin between his index and middle fingers. “I’ll take this as my first allowance,” he tosses it in the air and catches it in his fist and walks off to the nearest tavern. You stood dumbfounded for a moment. Was it really that easy to rob you?! You swallowed harshly. You had a long way to go. “Well, aren’t you coming?” Yangyang cuts through your thoughts.
“Sorry?”
“What? Were you planning to sleep on the streets tonight? Let’s go,” he waits for you to catch up with him before entering the tavern.

Eternal Love - Episode 28
Tumblr media
Sujin still doesn’t know how bad she fucked up, but she kind of figured out that she has some work if she wants to gain Yehua’s trust and affections. So last episode, she’s sending her maid to tell Yehua she knows of a way to bring back Susu. Let’s see if he falls into it.
And that was a lie. Obviously. She tells him he can use the Jiepo light to burn her stuff so that would recreate her. But as like... a puppet. A fake copy. Even though it’s not real, he’s still that desperate to see her again, so he’s trying. Obviously, since Bai Qian isn’t dead, he can’t collect bits and parts of her soul to put them together again. So it actually summons a huge quantity of peach blossoms. Yehua is just breaking my heart. He wasn’t old enough to go through all of that.
I forgot how cute Ali grows up to be. 300 hundred years went by already, he’s still waiting for her to come back. The light hasn’t stopped burning ever since.
It’s almost Bai Qian’s birthday, so Fengjiu wants to get a good gift for her. However, since she doesn’t have any wishes, she’s having a hard time. Migu suggests that she helps getting Mo Yuan to wake up by using the Jiepo light. They doubt they will lend it to her, so Fengjiu decides to go and steal it. She pretends to be Sujin to get into Yehua’s room and snatch the lamp.
Bai Qian is mad a Fengjiu for stealing the lamp. Furthermore, she can’t even use it because she doesn’t know where Mo Yuan’s spirit is and that is necessary for the lamp to work. So she tells Fengjiu to give back. Lucky for her, Siming and Lian Song returns the lamp to Yehua and persuade him not to punish her for that. It was a hard feat that they could only manage because siming mentions Donghua. As he gets back the lamp, he tries to use his own spirit to reignite and have Susu come back. Lian Song manages to stop him and to get him back on track, thinking about Ali.
Meanwhile, in the mortal realm, Ali gets lost and bumps into a demon. It tries to eat him, but he’s saved by a lady.
And that is all. Yehua’s pain is making me really sad. I thought the worst was passed, but seriously... Zhao Youting’s acting is on par. It’s so good. I can’t help but feel so much of his emotions. This is a ride, even when it’s your second watch.

You first spotted him surrounded by his crew and women in the VIP, leaning over the rail. His eyes watching the club like a hawk, the scene unraveling before him. His honey blonde hair cut short into an undercut, well-tailored suit, and nice smile caught you off guard, as you usually don’t see these kinds of men in this club.
“Who is that?” You ask the bartender, pointing in his direction.
“Oh, that’s Qian Kun; he is the owner of this club,” the bartender says matter-of-factly.
“Do you mean Qian, as in Qian mafia?!” your voice unexpectedly rises, earning a few looks from the people around you.
You turn around and sneak another look at him, watching the ladies laugh at his every word, clearly loving the attention. Rumors spread quickly about the club being owned by a mafia Don.
“Shh! Are you trying to get yourself killed?” He whispers, working on a drink for a customer. Naive was your best ploy and to get where you needed to be you had to be coy. “But yes, it has the affiliation. So be careful.”
You nod and take a swig of your drink, finishing it completely before making your way to the dance floor. You already knew who Kun was. His reputation exceeding him, just from his looks alone he wouldn’t be expected. His looks made him look innocent almost, knowing the things his mafia did to people who weren’t needed anymore, you knew you had to proceed with caution before you went into action.
Kun wasn’t an ordinary guy; he is the Qian mafia head after inheriting it from his father a year ago. Being the daughter of the rival mafia, the Zodiacs, had its perks. He’s not a total stranger to you, as you grew up to be childhood friends and eventually lovers, losing your virginities to each other as you both became adults. You wanted a relationship, but he didn’t want anything serious; he just wanted your friendship and to fuck you ravishingly whenever he could.
You were okay with that for a while until you moved out of town and stayed away for three years. Since then, your families became enemies over a bad drug deal. The severity growing by the minute. Moving back recently brought on memories but that’s what you intended on keeping them as. Your father knew you were ready to take over the family business. So forth your here now attending to some routine affairs, before everything could be complete you had to cut down the biggest threat:
Kun
This was the final task, one you planned on exploiting until the last minute. You find a spot dancing with the strangers, the EDM sounds booming through the place. You get lost in the moment, allowing your body to move however you wanted it to, almost forgetting your task at hand. Your hair covers your face, but you can see your surroundings, and you notice one of his men and another childhood friend, Hendery, approaching you with his hand for you to shake.
“Come on, Hendery, we’re not strangers,” you forgo his hand and give him a hug. “How have you been? How’s your mom?”
“She’s good. Stubborn as ever,” he adjusts his tie, trying to hide his goofy grin. “Kun wanted me to bring you up to him.”
“I know,” you say, cocking an eyebrow at him. You look up in his direction, and Kun is smirking at you, holding a glass and lifting it up in your direction.
“If he wants me, he’ll have to come down here and fetch me himself,” you shrug, going back to the music. “It was nice seeing you again.”
Hendery nods and goes back to Kun, who gazes at you once more before removing the women’s hands touching his shoulders and making his way towards you. You liked this cat and mouse game, making him chase you around until he finally caught up and had his way. It’s unfortunate that you have to end his life in order to be the boss, but you’re not looking for love; you just want his body one last time.
Kun approaches you, and oddly the wind almost gets knocked out of you; he’s more handsome than the last time you saw him, and you can tell his very expensive suit was tailored just for him.
“Y/N… It’s been a while,” he greets me, kissing my left cheek.
“Yes, yes it has,” you agree, fluffing your hair off your shoulder.
“You look good,” his eyes wander all over your dress, biting his bottom lip.
“I know I do,” you grin seductively, pulling him to the crowd. “Dance with me.”
You take his hand and guide him to a spot on the dance floor, seducing him as you grind your body on his, allowing his hands to grace your hips. His cologne is strong enough to fill your senses of him, but you can still keep aware of what’s going on around you. His men are entertained by the women in their view; the security is placed at each exit door, making it harder for you to sneak off without being seen.
“What are you doing here, Y/N?” Kun questions you, your heart skipping a beat.
“I’m dancing, “ you respond coyly, turning around to face him.
“You don’t miss me?”
He scoffs and pulls you closer to him, his hands firmly on your ass.
“It’s been three years, and you just show up here? I don’t buy it,” he challenges you, matching your rhythm to the beat.
You look deep into his eyes, and you know he means business, but you keep your poker face focused on the mission at hand.
“What if I was here to see you?” You whisper into his ear.
“How would that make you feel?”
“You’d have to show me that you wanted to see me,” he buffers.
“How are you going to do that?”
You lean in and kiss him, slightly tugging on his suit, pulling him closer and under your spell. Your tongue makes magic with his, your body burning up from the sexual tension you have been harboring.
“Does that answer your question?” You tease him, nibbling the bottom of his lip.
“Maybe…” Kun trails off, motioning to his right-hand man, Ten. “I’ll need more convincing at my place. Meet me in the back alley; there is already a car there.”
You watch him say something to Ten before grabbing his coat, and you make your way to the back entrance, a black car already heated and ready to go. Kun has never been a man of a lot of words, but you know the steamy dance session has him wanting you, and you would be a liar if you didn’t admit you wanted him too. You might be holding some small feelings for him, being an old lover and someone you grew up with, but the family business comes first, no matter the cost… right?
“Are you ready?” Kun’s hand brushes your back, chills taking over your body.
You nod as our feet touched the cold ground, his home was calling.
Tumblr media
“Your place is nice,” you observe as you walk into Kun’s penthouse.
You take off your heels and set them on the hardwood floor, walking into the spacious living room with a grand view of the city. The kitchen isn’t too far with a built-in bar attached and just based on what’s in front of you, you know this place isn’t cheap. Kun is rummaging through his wine rack and comes with a bottle of red wine and two glasses.
“Thank you. Are you thirsty?” Kun asks, pouring some in his glass.
“Yeah. I’ll take a little sip,” you grab and sit on one of the stools.
He pours some wine in a gold-trimmed glass, and you thank him, taking a small sip like you promised. You don’t like wine much, but you need something to calm your nerves and the heat brewing in your core.
“So, are you finally going to be honest with me?” Kun interrogates you, almost catching you off guard.
You stay composed and take another sip, finishing it entirely and setting it down on the island bar.
“What makes you think I’m not being honest with you?” You counter, slowly walking towards him.
“Come on, Y/N,” he scoffs, brushing his hair back with his hands. “It’s been years, and I haven’t heard from you. Let alone a goodbye, and now you just show up here and flirt with me? I know you better than that.”
You know he’s making sense, and you think of a quick lie to cover your tracks. You taking over the family business is on the line, and despite the small feelings you still hold for him, you cannot fuck this up.
“I promise I came to see you,” you swear, waving your hands dramatically. It is the truth after all.
“Do you still have feelings for me?” Kun starts, loosening his tie. “I told you years ago I’m not the relationship type. That hasn’t changed.”
It is your turn to scoff, letting out a hearty laugh from the pit of your soul.
“I’m in town because I have some family stuff to attend to. It’s been a while since I’ve seen you, and I wanted to see what’s been up with you,” you wave him off. “But obviously, this is a lot for you, so I’m going to go.”
You make your way to the door and grab your shoes, willing to walk outside in the cold barefooted until your ride came. That didn’t happen, however, as Kun grabs your arm, backing you into the wall.
“You’re still dramatic as ever,” Kun states before bringing his lips to yours.
You kiss him back, tearing open his shirt, buttons flying everywhere as your hands rub across his chest. His big hands lift you up, carrying you to his massive bedroom and setting you down on the bed,
“Strip,” Kun demands, unbuckling his belt.
You get up, slowly lowering each strap on your dress, pulling your dress down until your breasts and thong were exposed. Kun pulls you to him, kissing you once more, leaning you back onto the bed. His lips trail to your stomach, leaving soft marks while he lowers your panties with his other hand.
“You’re the same way I remembered you years ago,” he whispers. “You are still as beautiful as ever.”
“Yeah yeah,” you brush off his words, your breath hitching as his lips meet your sweet spot.
Kun smirks and leaves a sensual kiss, your back arching as he is tasting your sweet nectar. Your hands are grasping for his hair; the rapturous way he makes your body feel is astral projecting you into paradise. His tongue takes a long swipe on your sweet pussy, his ravenous lust coming out of his pores as he tongue fucks you.
“My god-” you choke on air, your stomach coiling under pressure at your release. His nails dig into your ass, and you come undone, your honeyed essence dripping down his chin as he drinks you in. You beg him to stop, but he continues his onslaught, causing you to cum again shortly after.
“You are going to suck me dry,” you rasp, out of breath.
He finally pulls away, licking his lips, a sly grin plastered on his face as he lifts your leg up, slowly rubbing his shaft.
“Wait,” you attempt to sit up. “You don’t want me to do it?”
“No,” he eases himself inside of you. “I don’t have time for that. I need to feel you.”
You know you should have asked him to put on a condom, but the moment he climbed over and plowed into you, your sense of reasoning went out the door. He fucks you likes he missed you, rapaciously pounding into you like a street whore, and you return his aggression with your nails dug deep into his back. He cups your mouth with his big hands, kissing you and taking your energy away as you reach your peak once more.
“Go ahead,” Kun grits his teeth. “I want to feel you all over me.”
No second later, you splash everywhere, squirting all over him and his sheets, surprising yourself as you have never done that with anyone before. He finishes shortly after, releasing his hot load on your stomach, kissing you tenderly until he was well spent.
“Phew!” You collapse on the bed, your vision blurry, and your energy depleted. You hear him chuckle, and you roll your eyes, slightly annoyed at his arrogance. He’s obviously picked up a thing or two while you were gone, and you wouldn’t mind doing this with him again if only you didn’t have to kill him. You hear him leave and go into the bathroom, and you sit up, looking around for what you can find on him before he gets out. You notice a planner on the nightstand, and you rummage through it, finding his schedule of the week, and you make mental notes. You hear the sink water come on, and you quickly put it back and get back into the position before he comes out.
“Are you tired?” He comes out with a hand towel, taking care to wipe his semen off of my stomach.
“A little,” you admit, your body sinking comfortably into the bed.
“Well, stay the night,” he suggests, disposing of the hand towel and coming back into bed.
“Eh,” you sound unsure. “I’m not trying to put you out of your bed, and I don’t want you getting ideas.”
Kun shakes his head, pulls you closer to him, and you lay back down. “I’m not the one who was in love years ago. As long as you know this isn’t going to be more than this, you can stay as many nights as you want.”
“Yeah, sure,” you say sarcastically, nuzzling into the pillow. “I’m not the same girl you grew up with. You’ll see.”
Tumblr media
It’s been five months since that night, and things started to change. He was still the Kun you grew up with, but softer. He was still a shrewd mafia boss and ran his business with an iron fist, but with you, he was sweet. His eyes shined when you walked into the room; he continued to fuck you mercilessly and doted on you like a princess after. It became more than fuck sessions, the calls wanting to know about your day and randomly showing up with dinner. If you didn’t know better, you would think he was falling in love with you.
You would be a liar if you didn’t admit to yourself that you started to have some feelings for him and you enjoyed his company, but as much as you want that companionship, the mafia comes first, and he has to go. You’ve been getting heat from your family, who wants this charade to end so you can finally take your place at the head of the Zodiacs. You pushed it off longer than you’d realize, and after the insistent nagging in every meeting, you decided tonight was the night.
“Hey,” you let Kun into your condo, dressed in a white tee and gray sweatpants. You invited him over, making up a lie about someone following you home. Your hair is pinned into a bun, and you just got out of the shower. You have had to kill before, but this was different; you never had to kill someone you cared about.
“Where did you say he was following you,” Kun asks, looking out your window.
“I was leaving the warehouse, and I noticed this sedan was following me,” you fake a sigh, more so to calm your nerves. “I went a long way home and was able to lose them, thank God.”
“Mmhmm,” is all he says, and he continues to look outside and around your place, checking to see if anyone else was inside. You act completely natural, flipping through the channels until you find something semi-decent to put on the tv, not that you’ll be watching it much.
“You know you didn’t have to call me over here,” Kun plops on the couch next to you, laying his head on your nap. “You could’ve called one of your guards here.”
“I know,” you shrug, playing in his hair. “But I wanted you over here. Is that such a bad thing?”
He perks his lips up, and you kiss him, the sweet taste lingering on his lips that has you wanting more. His hands take out your bun, allowing your hair to fall down your face.
“I’m glad you asked me over,” Kun whispers, leaving the last kiss on your nose. Your heart is touched, and you start to feel tears form, so you make a motion that you are getting up and go into the bathroom, leaning against the door. You wish there was another way to be in charge and still have him. You went into this cold-hearted and not wanting love, but here he is, sucking you in again like years before. You take a long look in the mirror before reaching underneath the sink for the pistol you kept hidden there. Your hands are searching for it before you bend and look for yourself, grabbing it and taking it out of its case. You take a deep breath and open the door, Kun on the other side startling you.
“Jesus!” You exclaim, clutching your shirt. “You scared the shit out of me.”
You walk past him into the kitchen for a glass of water. You feel your face hot from embarrassment, and you gulp your water down, ready to face what’s to come.
“Are you okay?” you hear Kun behind you. “You seem a bit off.”
It’s now or never, you say to yourself. You clear your throat and pull out the gun from behind you, aiming for Kun’s head. Instead of looking shocked, he sighs heavily, taking a seat on one of the stools.
“It was only a matter of time, I suppose,” he surmises, raking his hands through his hair.
“I’m sorry,” your voice is small, fighting back the tears. “I wish this could have ended differently.”
“It can be different,” he pleads. “Let’s leave this life behind. Run away with me.”
You look at him incredulously before bursting into laughter, your voice bellowing throughout your kitchen. You two were both born into the mafia families; it’s either them or death. No way you can just leave without being hunted down.
“You sound crazy,” you scoff, scratching your left temple with your gun. “You are just saying that to get out of this.” You cock the safety back, ready to pull the trigger.
“Have you ever known me to be a liar, Y/N?” he asks, slowly getting off of the stool. “I knew you were sent to kill me the day you showed up at my club. No way you just randomly showed up to see me.”
You keep your poker face, but your heart is pounding at his revelation. You thought you covered your tracks, keeping your i’s dotted and your t’s crossed. What happened?
“Come on, I’m in the business Y/N. I already know how this goes,” he points out, moving closer to you.
“So if you knew, why haven’t you stopped me?” You move your finger to the trigger, something he notices and stops dead in his tracks.
“I fell in love with you,” he confesses. “I went into this thinking that I could have a little fun before we eventually would have to square off, but you made me want love… You reminded me of the times we were kids and growing up together, and it feels good. I don’t want to lose that.”
The silence is deafening, the tears you were blocking pouring out of your eyes.
“I know you feel the same,” Kun steps slowly to you again, entering your personal space. “I know you want to leave this life behind.”
You hate that he is right, and if you had the strength, you would end it right here and now. But his eyes are showing a vision of love, an alternate reality where you two can be together without having to look over your shoulders; A life of leisure with your childhood sweetheart, the love of your life.
“But how could this even work—”
You’re cut off with his lips pressed against yours, almost knocking you out your senses. You give in to his feelings, setting the gun on the counter and placing your hands on his neck, deepening the kiss.
“Let’s find a way to end this together,” Kun’s voice is shaky, his eyes peering into your soul.
You nod, sniffling as you turn around and reach for a paper towel to dry your face.
“I love you, Y/N.”
That’s the last thing you remember before the gun went off and everything faded to black.

Mr. Qian’s wife is an interesting woman. You know that, he knows that. Which is why he basically was leaning on you when he came to you after work.
“Love,” he began “can I be rough with you?”
You looked at his tired eyes full of stress. You nodded, and Mr. Qian dragged you to your room.
He didn’t even bother to remove your panties, pushing them to the side and immediately noticing your already damp core. “Why are you so wet, love? I just got here, are you hiding something from Daddy?”
Avoiding his eyes sheepishly, you nodded. Mr. Qian scoffed, “Of course you did. What did you do, fuck yourself on your fingers?”
You nodded again making Mr. Qian grab your throat harsher than usual.
“You know Daddy hates when you do that. You obviously already cummed, so don’t cum.”

“What the hell happened?” Rhodey demanded after a few moments of awkward silence after Steve had stormed out.
Happy had closed the door after Steve, also looking at Tony now with expectation for an answer.
“Nothing,” Tony said aggressively, pushing the reactor and the suit began retracting.
“Nothing? You don’t get to cause that uproar here in the facility and then not give any of us an answer—” Rhodey started to argue.
“Who’s in charge here?” Tony interrupted him shortly.
Rhodey shook his head, “Tony, that’s not fair. And you know it.”
“Life isn’t fair,” Tony quipped, walking over to his desk to snatch up his phone. He began texting quickly.
“If something is going on between you two, the rest of the team deserves to know! Especially since you’re pulling the ‘who is in charge’ card. That’s the two of you!” Rhodey said. “You manage a lot of people and factions are not what the operation needs to function properly.” He stepped closer and continued, “It’s her isn’t it? Heard pregnancy test and that’s not hard to deduce why both of you would be concerned about that.”
Tony was scrolling through his phone, not answering Rhodey.
Irked, Rhodey pressed, “I don’t know why the two of you thought sharing was going to work out. You are both hardheaded, sons of—”
“Rhodey, if you’re going to continue nagging at me like an old lady, please just leave. I’m busy,” Tony interjected again, distracted still.
“No! You need to be open!” Rhodey shouted, finally fully catching Tony’s attention. Happy rose his brows in surprise at his boldness. “You two just almost plummeted each other.”
Tony ground his teeth, staring Rhodey down. Exhaling sharply, he finally said, “Fine. Yes. You’re right. Her. And you know, everything was going fine before Steve started having his martial problems. And he started playing fast and loose with Y/N’s safety. He brought her on a mission a couple of days ago – with Bucky and Sam, mind you, so they’re also on my shit list – using her as a pawn and she had no idea what was going on. He left her on a boat with Qian and Perez. Got her caught it the middle of the crossfire, so that was a fun clean up job for me.” That was shock to Rhodey and Happy, both of them caught off guard. “So, yeah, I’m a little fucking piqued, you could say. He’s spiraling because of things at home.” He paused for a beat before sighing, “And he was fucking with her birth control. So, hey, I might be a dad. Again. Even if I didn’t want that.”
Tony all but collapsed into his chair behind his desk, tossing his phone down on the desk. “I don’t know if I should move her. I told him to stay away, and he lured me away and snuck in there and took her. He has a key.”
Rhodey was silent for the first time in the conversation but Happy offered, “It might be for the best.” Tony turned his attention to him and Happy continued, “If you are really worried about it. Removing temptation… sometimes that is the best medicine.”
<><><>
“Let’s go,” Steve said shortly, coming into the locker room. He threw open his locker and reached inside for the freshly washed uniform.
“What the hell happened?” Sam demanded, seeing how disheveled Steve was. He was fresh out of the shower after having done an intense work out.
“Nothing. I’m gonna get suited up and start working. Are you going to join?”
“What do you mean ‘nothing’? Your chin is cut up and—”
Steve barked, shutting Sam up, “I said nothing happened, Sam!” He tossed his suit on the bench behind him and began working at the buttons on his three piece to get undressed.
Sam stood up, gripping at the towel around his waist, staring Steve down. He glared as Steve tossed his suit jacket onto the bench and ripped his tie off. Steve noticed his glare and his hands began to falter under the intensity until they slowly fell. His dress shirt was unbuttoned, and his belt undone.
Evenly, Sam asked, “What happened? What is going on?”
Steve sighed heavily, his hands coming to his hips, head hanging. He was quiet for a few moments, breathing deeply. His voice was quiet when he admitted, “Tony and I got into it. Badly. Right in his office. I… he pissed me off and I just saw red. He hit where he shouldn’t have and he did it on purpose to get a rise out of me. And I fell for it. Like a fucking idiot.” He rubbed at his face. “I don’t know what to do.”
“Take a step back.”
“It’s not as easy as that, Sam!”
“I mean from work. Take some time. You don’t need to throw yourself into this just to escape whatever is happening. Take a step back from work and focus on the shit in your personal life.”
Steve chewed on his lip before saying quietly, “You’re right.” He nodded this time and repeated, “You’re right. I… I need…”
Sam cut in, picking up his slack. “You need to do what’s best for you and your wife. That’s what’s important.”
Steve nodded again. Sam was not privy to his relationship with Y/N. All he knew was she was a prostitute that Steve visited sometimes. But he was right on one thing; he did want his relationship better with his wife. And right now, that was something that was going to be easier to control than his relationship with Y/N.
<><><>
Sitting at the table, eating lunch, you heard voices outside the hall coming closer and you put your fork down. The front door opened, and Tony walked in, followed by a handful of men. Luna booked it from her cat tower down the hallway towards the bedroom at the crowd. You stared at them confused as Tony was giving them directions about what to pack together. You spotted a few bringing in copious amounts of broken down moving boxes, carrying packing tape.
“Bedroom things first. That’s the most important. She needs somewhere to sleep obviously. The bed is easily broken down. The tools for it… I think are in the top drawer of the nightstand on the far side of the bed by the window. I made sure it would be nearby,” Tony was telling a few of them. He had failed to look or notice you at the table, sitting there bewildered. “I saw the cat run down there, so close the door when you go in. She’ll probably run into the closet if she’s under the bed. I just want her corralled and out of the way of everyone else. Do not – and I repeat, do NOT – let her out! We’ll get her into the cat carrier after everything is packed up. And you all are in charge of making sure that bed is ready to go at the new condo.”
New condo?
He turned towards a few more of them and said, “Start breaking down the living room.” To the last couple, he said, “The bathroom. Be sure to properly label everything.”
Tony finally laid eyes on you and walked over to the kitchen table, pulling out his cell phone. “How are you doing, love?”
“How am I… what is happening?” you inquired.
“You’re moving,” Tony informed you, texting.
The men were already setting to work, and you moved your gaze around the apartment in disbelief. Who were these guys and what in the actual fuck was going on?
“Why?” you asked confused.
“Because. I found somewhere better priced.”
“Where?”
“Carnegie Hill.”
That was his neighborhood. He had told you that before, to your immense surprise, giving away his home location. But he had – as you suspected – started trusting you more in recent months. Why was he moving you closer to his family? And especially in that neighborhood? Cheaper? You were hard pressed to believe that bald-faced lie.
“You found something cheaper there than this?” you asked him, completely disbelieving.
“Yep,” Tony told you curtly, still not looking up from his phone. “A nice condo. Nice dropped living room and dining room. Iron work looks great.” You were staring at him intensely as he clicked away on his phone. He felt the burn of your stare and looked up. “What?”
Exasperated you threw your hands out, “What… Tony! I’m just sitting here eating lunch and all these people are in here now and just packing up my stuff! And you’re telling me I’m moving!”
Tony exhaled sharply, tossing his phone onto the table as he pulled out a chair beside you and sat down. Leaning in close he said, “You’re moving closer to me. It’s easier.”
“Easier?”
“Better,” he offered.
“Why? So I can run into your wife into one of the coffee shops and she can maul my face there?”
Tony’s expression was hard, and you really could not give a shit less. You had already told him how you felt about being in close proximity with her.
“First off, Alessia does not go get her own coffee. She sends people for that, Or she has the maid make it for her in her French press. Hell would freeze over the day she was asked to stand in a line and agree to it,” Tony started out, his tone tight. “And secondly, only I will have a key to the place.”
Reality set in on what he was doing. He was leaving Steve out. Did Steve even know this was going on? The memory of Tony last night telling you that he loved you outright flashed through your mind. He had been furious when he had learned what Steve had done to you. A wedge had been driven between them at your expense.
“So, yes, easier. And better,” Tony clipped, leaning away from you again, keeping his gaze fixated on you for a few more moments before tearing it away. He picked up his phone again and unlocked it. “Finish your lunch. You don’t have to lift a finger for this. They’ve got it covered. All we gotta do is get Luna into a carrier. And that’ll be easy, right?”
You were at a loss for words. What if Steve came looking for you? How angry was he going to be when he realized that you were no longer here? And would he think it was you that had asked Tony to move you? You had so many questions.
Tony picked up your fork and held it out to you. “Eat, love. Just relax. I’ve got it covered.”
Timidly, you reached out and took the fork from him, and he visibly relaxed of the tension in his body. You stuck your fork into your rice and took a bite, watching the men working warily.

Steve kissed up Cecile’s abdomen, his trail leading between her breasts and up to her lips. She smiled against his lips as he entered her slowly. They rocked together in tandem, coming down together. Steve held her close and whispered in her ear, “Let’s take a few days. You and me. Maine?”
“Seclusion is always nice,” Cecile told him, pecking him on the nose, causing Steve to smile.
“Right on the sea?” Steve questioned, holding her close, cognizant of her swollen abdomen.
Cecile traced his face and said, “You know what I like.”
“That I do,” Steve returned softly. He kissed her deep and relished in feeling like they were truly close again.

You had just gotten out of the shower to wash the chlorine off of you. One of the perks of the new condo was the pool. You enjoyed doing laps and the hot tub afterward. Sitting in a robe, you picked up the remote and turned on the TV. Choosing a show, you unwrapped the popsicle you had taken out of the fridge.
The familiar sound of the key in the door echoed and you did not bother to move, knowing the only one who would be coming in was Tony. You had been here for a week and had finished rearranging all of your things in the new layout a couple days ago. Thankfully, Luna had adjusted and loved the window beds on the large windows, giving her access to watch out over the street.
He was dressed down – unusual for him. And he looked nervous, and you were on edge immediately just as you had been when he had looked that way sitting in the living room when you had come home from the gym.
“What?” you asked him reluctantly.
He said nothing. He held a bag out to you, and you stared at him for a moment before you opened it, peaking in.
Your stomach dropped, seeing another pregnancy test.
“Why are you making me do this? For real this time?” you asked him seriously.
He licked his lips and sat down stiffly on the opposite end of the couch. He was refusing to look at you, his elbows resting on his thighs, hands clasped. “I… you need to do it.”
“Why?” you pressed.
“Because. You… you might be pregnant.”
Shaking your head, you told him, “I already took a test. Less than two weeks ago!”
“Have you missed a period?”
“I rarely bleed,” you countered.
“That makes it even more important that you take the test then.”
“Why are you so concerned about this?”
Tony exhaled sharply, hanging his head. He was silent for a few moments, the suspension in the room thick. His voice was brittle, “You weren’t protected. For over a month. December and January, respectfully, between the two.”
You gaped at him. Stammering, you asked, “W-what are you talking about?”
He looked resistant to speak but he shook his head, “Steve.”
“Steve, what?” you asked dangerously.
“He told me at the beginning of January that he had been fucking around with your birth control. Giving you placebos.”
You felt like you had been kicked. Your fingers grasped tighter onto the paper back, it crinkling in your hand. The silence in the room was deafening; Tony refusing to look at you made it even worse.
If what he was saying was true, Steve had betrayed you beyond belief. You had thought his actions at the docks were the lowest he could go but apparently, he was determined to prove you wrong. And for what? To lock you down further?
“Why?” you rasped.
Tony shrugged, “I don’t know. Really. He… he’s having problems. At home, with his wife, I mean.”
“And? Getting me pregnant was going to solve that?”
“No,” Tony gave a dry laugh, shaking his head. “No, it wouldn’t have solved it. He’s… he’s not thinking straight. That has been made noticeably clear.”
“You knew?” you asked quietly. And he finally looked at you, shame etched into his features. “When you asked me to take the first test?”
His answer hit you like a ton of bricks. “Yeah, I did.”
“And you didn’t say anything?” you asked breathlessly.
“You… you were negative. And I was just going to let it rest and move on. No purpose of drawing up drama when it didn’t need to be drawn up.”
“I trusted you,” you half gasped, getting up from the couch.
Tony followed your movement, half stumbling around the opposite side of the couch to chase after you as you clutched the bag close to your chest. He quickly dove into excuses, “I mean it when I said I thought it should stay buried. As long as it was okay. To save you from that stress. And I thought Steve could get his head on straight. But then he went and proved me fucking wrong. So wrong. And that’s why I moved you. He doesn’t know where you are. I’m not going to let him around you. Not until he can prove he has himself set straight again. And if that never happens, then you don’t have to see him again!”
He sounded so desperate for you to forgive him, thank him for what he was doing.
Swallowing sharply, you put up a wall. Coldly, you told him, “I have to go do this.” You tapped the bag. “You know… something I didn’t want to have to do. Ever. But here I am forced again by controlling men to do shit against my will.”
Tony looked wounded by that, and you ignored it, turning on your heel, storming down the hallway. You gritted your teeth. You were going to do your damndest to not cry.
<><><>
It had been over ten minutes since Y/N had locked the bathroom door before he finally heard something.
Tony was leaning on the wall outside and he heard her stifle a sob. His eyes closed, exhaling deeply. He pushed away from the wall and his hand came to the door handle of the door, but he hesitated. His hand fell from the handle, deciding to give her space, and he walked away back towards the living room, his hand coming up to rub at his face, distressed.
Yes, it was going to be easier having her close by pregnant to watch over, he thought to himself.
Regardless of if it was his or not.
<><><>
Daryl or Eric were not in the lobby, causing Steve to frown. Were they upstairs? He got into the elevator, a bad feeling swirling in his gut.
He exited the elevator, holding the envelope to Y/N’s favorite local boutique close to him. He meant to just slide it underneath the door to avoid pissing Tony off even further but to still connect to her. Extend an olive branch and slowly apologize, getting himself back to her good graces.
He stopped though, seeing Terrence or Wylan were not there at the hallway’s end. Worry was beginning to seep in deep at the fact both sets of men were not where they were supposed to be.
Picking up his pace, Steve moved to her apartment door and his heart hammered seeing the keylock on her door instead of a deadbolt. That meant she had moved, and the apartment was empty.
His jaw set, fury burning its way through him.
Tony, that son of a bitch.

do you know what weddings were like for princes and princesses in the qing dynasty?
Most of this is based on information about Emperor Guangxu’s wedding to Empress Longyu. Obviously the emperor’s wedding is a lot more elaborate, but weddings of princes and princesses should be somewhat the same.
Sources: 1, 2, also Vietnamese book: Những người đàn bà của hoàng đế, Hướng Tư (2003), NXB Văn hóa – Thông tin
Normal people’s weddings during the Qing dynasty would consist of the following six ceremonies:
Proposal 纳采 nacai
Asking for the bride’s name and birthday 问名 wenming
Visit the fortune teller (to ensure that bride and groom’s birthdates are compatible 纳吉 naji
Prepare and send wedding gifts 纳征 nazheng
Choosing a ceremony date 请期 qingqi
Wedding ceremony 亲迎 qinying
For the emperor, this is reduced down to basically :
nacai
nazheng (for the emperor, it is called dazheng 大征, because the emperor’s marriage is referred to as the “great marriage” 大婚 dahun)
wedding ceremony combined with the investiture of the empress (in the cases of Shunzhi, Kangxi, Tongzhi, Guangxu who came to the throne before they were married)
(The whole things to do with asking for the birthdate and checking whether it’s compatible is pretty redundant considering if you are chosen to marry the emperor, you have already gone through the xiunv selection process which is pretty much the same thing.)
Timeline for Guangxu’s marriage:
2nd day 11th month 14th year of Guangxu era: proposal (nacai)
4th day 12th month 14th year: sending wedding gift (dazheng)
26th day 1st month 15th year: announce the betrothal to Heaven and Earth and the ancestral shrines
27th day 1st month 15th year: the empress enters the palace (fengying 凤迎, 凤 phoenix refers to the empress), investiture of the empress and wedding ceremony
2nd day 2nd month 15th year: ceremony of the empress paying respects to Empress Dowager Cixi (chaojian 朝见)
In normal weddings, the groom and/or his parents would present the betrothal/wedding gifts to the bride’s family himself, and then on the wedding day, the groom would go to the bride’s home to pick her up. However, as the emperor is considered too high and mighty to do any of that himself, for all these ceremonies, he would appoint several representatives consisting of one main commissioner (正使 zhengshi) and at least one deputy commissioner (副使 fushi) to carry out these tasks for him. These commissioners would be chosen among the princes or high-ranking officials close to the emperor.
Tumblr media
Legend of Ruyi: Fu Heng being the zhengshi at Qian Long’s wedding to Ruyi, because nothing says fuck you true love like getting the brother of your dead first wife to be your proxy at the wedding to your second wife, whom your first wife hated and spent her last breaths more or less cursing. No wonder Fu Heng looks so happy.
(This appointment was historically accurate, but considering Langhua and Ruyi's relationship in this drama, this is such an asshole move. Fu Heng was the zhengshi at the investiture of the Step Empress into the position of Imperial Noble Consort as well.)
Nacai (proposal)
During the proposal ceremony, the commissioners will present betrothal gifts to the bride’s family. For Guangxu’s marriage, betrothal gifts consisted of four horses with saddles; ten suits of armour; one hundred bolts of brocade in yellow, red, orange, indigo, blue; and two hundred bolts of fabric, along with gold and silver household items. The horses and armour represent the Manchurian history of conquering China through martial prowess.
Afterwards, an engagement banquet is held at the bride’s house, prepared by the Imperial Tea Kitchen of the palace and at the expense of the imperial palace as a thank you to the bride’s family for raising her.
Dazheng (sending wedding gifts)
Wedding gifts will consist of gifts to members of the bride’s family, as well as items for the bride’s use after marriage. There is so much of it, tl;dr: they stupidly rich, Mr Darcy got nothing on them.
If you can read Vietnamese, here is the list of wedding gifts given for Guangxu’s wedding. This goes on for literally three more pages. I’m not translating it because my eyes glazes over every third line of jade descriptions.
Wedding and investiture of empress
On the wedding day, the emperor’s commissioners would take the emperor’s proclamation to create the empress, along with the empress’ golden book (金册) and golden seal (金宝), the physical manifestations of the empress’ power, to present to the bride.
Tumblr media

The bride then will be brought into the palace on a golden palanquin (called 凤舆 fengyu) through the middle gate of the Meridian Gate into the palace.
Tumblr media
Painting of Emperor Guangxu's wedding 光绪皇帝大婚图
During the journey, the bride would carry a ruyi scepter and an apple, both representing auspiciousness and peace.
Ruyi scepters were essential in imperial weddings. During the Qing dynasty, four emperors were married in the Forbidden City after their enthronement. Their weddings were luxurious spectacles and had fixed rituals. The Qing Palace Archives record the following:
On the eve of the wedding, the Grand Minister in Command of the Guard, Commissioner of the Imperial Procession Guard and their entourage carried the empress's sedan from the middle of the Gate of Heavenly Purity (Qianqing men) and placed it in the Palace of Heavenly Purity (Qianqing gong). Dispatched to receive the bride were four court ladies of high rank dressed in red were commanded to place inside the sedan chair a ruyi scepter and a scroll with the character for dragon (long) written by the emperor. Then these ladies as well as some female attendants of the Imperial Household Department prepared the bridal chamber and the bridal bed called "dragon and phoenix bed". The four ladies also set four ruyi scepters on the bed, one at each corner.
During the wedding, officials presented their gifts which all included a pair of ruyi scepters. They were also included in princesses' dowry. The Qianlong Emperor gave his daughter Hexiao Princess a set of nine pieces, and her husband a Ruyi with turquoise inlay. (x)
Tumblr media
ruyi scepter
Apple is pingguo 苹果 which sounds the same as ping as in pingan 平安 (peaceful).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(full post)
Once reaching the steps of Qian Qing Gong (Palace of Heavenly Purity, the seat of the emperor), the bride will hand over the ruyi and apple, and then hold a golden jar (ping) and step over a brazier of coals, signalling burning away any bad luck.
Tumblr media
Ruyi and Xiyue carrying jars (ping) as a symbol of luck on their wedding day
From Qian Qing Gong she makes her way to Kun Ning Gong (Palace of Earthly Tranquility), which is traditionally the seat of the empress of the Ming and Qing dynasties and were all weddings of emperors took place. Before entering Kun Ning Gong, she would also need to step over a horse saddle - 鞍, pronounced an, as in pingan 平安.
Not mentioned in the description of Guangxu’s wedding, but there is also another ritual where the groom would shoot three arrows at a target as a symbol of luck.
Qing dynasty royal weddings take place at night. During Guangxu’s wedding, Empress Longyu entered the her bridal sedan chair and departed her home at around 11:45pm, and reached the palace at around 4:45am, because walking ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hejin 合卺
Hejin is the ceremony after the bride enters the bridal chamber, and the bride and groom drink a cup of wine together and share a meal, signalling the start of their married life.
Tumblr media
卺 originally refers to splitting a hulu gourd in half, and 合卺 means to bring the two halves together, which is why in earlier dynasties you will see couples drinking their wedding wine out of two halves of a hulu gourd.
Afterwards there would also be a banquet at Taihe Dian (Hall of Supreme Harmony).
Chaojian 朝见
Normally the day after the wedding, the bride would pay respects to her in-laws by going to greet them, serve them tea and wine. With Guangxu’s wedding, this ceremony didn’t happen until several days later because they needed to wait for an auspicious day™.

Chapter 67: Tang Fan Carries Sui Zhou Out of Danger & They Stare Into Each Other’s Eyes
Context: Continues from Chapter 66. Yin Yuan Hua has died out of stupidity in the previous chapter. Sui Zhou is now unconscious after taking a blow meant for Tang Fan, and it is up to Tang Fan and Qian San Er to help everyone escape. Some loving pre-relationship gazing into each others’ eyes and face-reddening, Tang Fan having to reassure himself with touch that Sui Zhou is alright and alive, and Sui Zhou being so, so relieved that Tang Fan is safe, even if his safety comes at the expense of himself.
Introduction Post | Masterpost
Highlights under the cut
It is chaos in the main hall.
The hand cannons cannot fire consecutively, and every time they use up the gunpowder, they need to make a refill. This takes up time, and the creature is agile, making it difficult to aim for it. It is only too easy to hurt someone if they are careless.
Sui Zhou has already collapsed and is unconscious, so the commanding authority naturally falls on Pang Qi.
Making use of the opportunity while the creature is still blind in one eye, the rest of the Embroidered Uniform Guards rush forward together and drive the weapons in their hands towards its abdomen, but this is no easy feat. In the blink of an eye, numerous people are swept away.
The center of the main hall lies a coffin and this is originally where the owner of Marquis Gong’s tomb rests. The lid of the coffin is heavy and even using both hands to push at it will not necessarily open it. Right now, both of Li Man’s hands are unable to gather strength, so he uses his body to push at the lid instead, but of course the slab does not budge.
However, thanks to the chaotic situation, everyone’s focus is on combatting the beast, and no one has any time to pay him any attention.
The coffin’s center position would originally have made it easy to be embroiled in the thick of the fight, but due to the fact that the flame above was extinguished earlier, light is centered around scattered flame torches. This is so they can more clearly and accurately see the beast’s weaknesses. Everyone is also unconsciously driving the beast to where there is light.
This has instead made it easier for Li Man. The two men that came in with Li Man have already died here. One of them was used by Li Man as a human shield, and the other had his chest pierced with one of the beast’s claws, dying on the spot immediately.
Li Man obviously does not care about their survival. He has all his attention focused on using his torso to push the coffin lid open, and can only hate that he is not quicker enough. Too bad his body has been trussed up like a dumpling, and he also has to constantly keep tabs on the situation around him and prevent the creature from suddenly turning up before his eyes. Frantic, sweat fills his forehead.
However, just because most people are not paying attention to him, doesn’t mean that no one is paying attention to him.
Just as Li Man is about to use all his energy, he’s raised up from the ground by someone behind him, and is directly dumped next to the coffin.
“What are you doing!”
The next moment, his face receives a heavy, hard slap, and the side of his face immediately swells up like that of a pig’s head, just like what he did to Tang Fan not so long ago.
This is indeed karma - what goes around comes around.
Li Man demands furiously, and then when he sees the other’s face clearly, his fury turns into glee, and with slurred speech, he says, “Little xiongdi, don’t hit me! Don’t hit me! You don’t want to die either, do you? I have a way for escape, don’t let anyone else know!”
Qian San Er squints at him in a cautious stare, and then his expression changes. Picking him up, Qian San Er drags Li Man to the side, barely dodging a gust of wind from a swipe of the beast’s tail. There are not only scales on that tail, but they pierce and possess great strength, so getting swept by this is hardly child’s play.
Qian San Er traps him in a corner, then slaps him again, before spitting, “Weren’t you almighty then, why are you such a weakling now? If it wasn’t for you, my shifu and the rest of them wouldn’t have died!”
Li Man is struck so hard that he’s seeing stars, and if it was any other day, he would have fought back. At this point, however, he forces himself to push the anger away, and reveals a twisted smile, “Your shifu and the rest are already dead, but you are still alive. Do you want to die here like they did?”
Qian San Er, “There’s one more beast outside, how do we escape?”
“I have a way, but you have to loosen my ropes first!”
Don’t look at how righteous he pretended to be earlier in front of Tang Fan, saying that he is willing to die for the Sect. He is an ant that is desperate to live. People like Li Man are people who fear death the more they possess. And as long as there is a way to live, he will not let it go.
Since he is afraid of death, then after luring the beast here, how could he not have a backup plan?
Now that Tang Fan is busy checking Sui Zhou’s injuries, Li Man does not have the energy to care about them over here. After interacting with the man a few times, he’s well aware that the other is one of the most intelligent men he’s known. Before, Tang Fan was in the thick of the plot, which is the only reason why he was carelessly tricked. When Tang Fan finally reacts, he surely will be able to see through his petty tricks, and when that time comes, he will truly die without resting in peace.
And so no matter what, Li Man has to take advantage of this opportunity and run first, leaving Tang Fan and the others to tear each other to shreds with the tomb guarding beast.
He believes that with how ferocious and merciless this beast is, everyone here will definitely be massacred. Then, all they have to do is find a way to transport all the treasures out. From then on, they would have freedom under the skies, and fat chance of officials catching them!
Qian San Er is a thief, he’s not from the courts and for Li Man to tempt him, it naturally comes easy to him.
Li Man says, “You knew this from before, I’m the leader of the White Lotus Sect’s He Nan branch. As long as you follow me, you will never have to hide in secret again! You won’t have to be humiliated by the court’s dogs, hurry, loosen the ropes!”
Qian San Er’s suspicion does not go away, but his eyes reveal that he is slowly being tempted, “Tell me first what the escape route is?”
Li Man coldly laughs to himself inside, then says sincerely, “I don’t mind telling you. That coffin has long been dug empty, from underneath it there is a route that leads directly straight towards Luo River, and when we get there, there will naturally be someone there to meet us!”
Qian San Er grabs at his shirt, “You better not lie to me. If the river and the tomb are connected, the water would have long rushed in, I don’t know how to swim!”
“Stupid, who told you it’s connected to the river!”
Just as he’s done speaking, he’s slapped again, so hard that even the teeth at the back of his mouth were nearly struck out with the force.
Qian San Er glares, “You still fucking dare to scold me!”
Li Man, “…”
Tolerating this and swallowing his anger, Li Man says, “Little xiongdi, I am not lying to you. The other end is connected to the river bank, it’s a little far from here but safety is guaranteed.”
Qian San Er is still doubtful, “Didn’t the beasts also swim in from the river? Before I came in, I saw that the tides of the river water were about to rise, by that time, what if the beasts escape and catch up to us?”
Li Man smiles, the expression cold and ruthless, “Did you forget that my people are outside? Both of them are my most trusted men, I’ve long since made proper arrangements, as long as we leave, they will all die here, be it the fucking people or the beasts! The huge treasures and riches from Marquis Gong’s tomb I got others to hide them earlier, you also saw the scattered pieces before. How can the real treasures compare to those dimly shining ones? All you have to do is go with me, and there is only time for you to enjoy wealth and fortune without limits!”
Qian San Er goes ‘oh’, nodding his head.
Li Man’s heart races with anxiety, “You can let me go now, can’t you!”
Qian San Er asks, “What does ‘dimly shining’ mean?”
Li Man almost throws up blood at that moment. He finally knows that this boy has been lying to him from start to end, and it’s likely that he was just tricking him to reveal details (of the escape route). He obviously does not have any intention to release him!
It is a pity that by the time he understands this, it is too late. Qian San Er has already gotten a hold of a dagger, and then ruthlessly stabs at Li Man’s heart!
Li Man’s eyes go wide in disbelief. Until the moment he dies, he is unable to understand why Qian San Er would have wanted to kill him.
Qian San Er retrieves the dagger from Li Man’s chest without hesitation. The other’s blood splatters on his face, and is wiped away along with his tears.
“…Shifu, I’ve finally gotten revenge for you!” he mumbles.
He gets to his feet and yells at Tang Fan and the rest, “Tang-daren, Li Man says there is an exit from inside the coffin towards the Luo River, we don’t have to run outside!”
When everyone hears this, their spirits are reinvigorated. Originally, everyone that there was only one way out, but the door is already blocked. Although they will be able to kill this tomb guarding beast here as long as they use all their strength, but there’s another one keeping guard outside. Thus, everyone was slowly despairing.
However, at this moment, Qian San Er’s words have given them new hope of survival.
Tang Fan shouts, his voice low, “Pang Qi, don’t persist in the fight, fight while you’re retreating!
Within the main hall, wherever the beast’s body sweeps across, its shrill wails echo, and along with it the howling wind. Although it is hurt, everyone else is barely hanging on. The other beast waiting outside, which was supposed to prepare to grab their food from the one inside, is already impatient, and its body shifts inwards slightly. Its blood red eyes stare at the humans in the main hall, and its sharp teeth are revealed.
Pang Qi manages to take a breath and turns back, then shouts with all his strength, “Daren, how his da-ge?!”
“He’ll live!” Tang Fan hauls Sui Zhou onto his back, then runs for the coffin.
Qian San Er has already gone over to push the coffin lid half open, revealing the wooden board underneath. He then peels the wooden board back, and he does see the dark entry way into the hole.
Delighted, Qian San Er shouts at Tang Fan and the rest of them, “Tang-daren, we can go down from here, Li Man didn’t lie to us!”
“Let’s go!” Tang Fan commands, and everyone starts to shift towards the center of the main hall.
Both tomb guarding beasts seem to realise what they’re trying to do, and rush towards them, bringing with them a gust of wind stained with the sharp stench of blood. The one that was hurt is exceptionally insane, and its attacks are stronger than before. Pang Qi and the rest are slowly losing the ability to hold them off. Another Embroidered Uniform Guard is not able to dodge in time and his throat is directly bitten.
Pang Qi is battling uncontrollably, but he doesn’t have any choice. The fighting power on both sides are entirely on different levels.
At this moment, a loud explosion resounds, and even the ground beneath their feet start to sway, shaking so much that everyone is almost unable to stand up straight.
Both beasts were going to attack the rest of them, but after the shock of that, they stop in their tracks for a moment.
Tang Fan’s expression changes slightly. He finally knows what Li Man’s plans were, but he doesn’t have much time to say anything at the moment, and can only shout, “Hurry and go! This place is about to collapse soon!”
Qian San Er ventures down the hole first, then turns around to help Tang Fan. Tang Fan first sends Sui Zhou down, then yells at Pang Qi, “Why aren’t you leaving!”
Pang Qi still wanted to kill the beast while it is still injured, but after the other one came in, he realises that this is an impossible mission. He can only begrudgingly give up and retreat to nearby the coffin. They shift into the hole in the coffin while the beasts are still stunned.
At this point, the entire underground tomb is shaking more and more intensely, and even the walls and the ground are sporting cracks quickly, visible with their naked eyes. Loud bursts of sounds echo one after another, far away and near, and everyone’s ear drums are close to bursting.
The two beasts look around them, stunned, and seeing that Tang Fan and the rest are leaving one by one, they shriek once and make to chase after them. Pang Qi, who is the last one, simply throws his xiuchun blade, slightly interrupting their forward momentum. He then holds onto his shoulder and dives into the coffin.
Behind him, along with the huge crackling and collapsing noises, the main hall’s stone walls fall after exploding, and even the stone piece at the top crashes downwards, heavily slamming on top of the coffin and cutting off the terrifying wails of the beasts.
In the long, narrow passage, everyone’s breaths are harsh. The sound of the explosions seems very far away, but the underground passage is also affected and keeps shaking endlessly. Above their heads, loose pieces of rock constantly drop, and some of the bigger ones can make anyone’s head bleed.
“Hurry, any later this place might collapse!” Tang Fan urges the rest of them to walk faster.
Qian San Er is at the front, carrying Sui Zhou on his back as he walks, while Tang Fan stays at the back to look out for everyone. Because of Sui Zhou’s protection earlier, he did not incur much injuries, but he does have small wounds here and there. Add to that his strength being severely depleted, his pallor is not any better than anyone else’s.
To be more accurate, if he didn’t have something to hold on to right now, he would have collapsed much earlier. But no one would think that Tang Fan, who knows no martial arts, is a burden. After all, if it wasn’t for his earlier planning, the number of people who are able to walk here right now would certainly be much lesser.
The White Lotus Sect did spend a lot of effort here - this passage has been dug in a way that makes it much wider than the one Qian San Er and the rest of them used earlier. It’s not that difficult to walk either, so it seems that the sect was already eyeing this tomb from a year before. They started there, and the only troublesome thing was that they needed to shift the treasures out before they could fully demolish the tomb, which is why they’ve delayed progress until now.
It is too bad that they faced Qian San Er and then Tang Fan, these two batches of people, and in their schemes to deal them with harm, they ended up being murdered instead. Even Li Man himself is buried in there. As people always say, as much as one would scheme, they may end up endangering their own lives in the end.
Qian San Er already told Tang Fan Li Man’s dying words. Li Man’s words are half truth and half lies, and he is always trying to manipulate and toy with him. Before Li Man died, he even hid the fact that they had gunpowder in the tomb, wanting to make use of the opportunity to deal them one last blow and kill them together with the tomb guarding beasts with the explosion.
Just by this point alone, Tang Fan does not dare to fully believe in what he said. However, when Li Man told Qian San Er that this passage leads to outside, and there is someone to receive them, these parts should be real.
Judging by Li Man’s selfishness, that pile of treasures certainly have to be placed right under his eyes for him to feel safe, so it would be impossible for him to let any of his men take the treasures first and flee.
In the process of walking forward, Tang Fan would frequently test for Sui Zhou’s pulse. Only when he finds that there is movement under his fingertip does he feel slightly assured.
They do not know for how long they have walked, and Qian San Er’s footsteps suddenly pause, “Daren, the exit seems to be in front.”
He puts Sui Zhou down, walks over and reaches out to touch, before turning around and saying in a low voice, “Seems like there is something pressing on top of it.”
Tang Fan indicates for everyone to keep silent and gets Qian San Er to come over and take care of Sui Zhou. He then walks over to where Qian San Er was standing previously and begins exploring. This is indeed the end, and the only exit is above.
Tang Fan meticulously touches the object that is pressing on the exit and then knocks on it lightly, putting his hand to his nose and sniffing.
“It’s a box, and it should be storage for clothes,” he says.
“How do you know that its a storage box for clothes?” Qian San Er asks, stunned.
“That wood is pear wood, and most people will not use wood like this to store miscellaneous items, so this is definitely a box. If the items inside are too heavy, then it would be very difficult for Li Man and the rest to go out, and I also smelt it earlier. There’s the smell of camphor wood grease, so it definitely is used to store objects that are easily bitten by insects, so it can only be storing clothes and garments.”
Qian San Er is entirely impressed. He touched the object earlier for a bit, but didn’t come up with any conclusions. Now that he hears Tang Fan say this, he experiences an epiphany of sorts.
Then looking at Pang Qi and the rest of them, they seem to have already gotten used to Tang-daren’s observation and deduction skills, his exceptional intelligence.
Tang Fan does not know that he has gotten himself another follower. He helps Sui Zhou up and adjusts him so that he’s in a more comfortable position to conveniently lean against his hold.
He says, “It should be another meeting point for the White Lotus Sect above. Earlier when we left, I took note and according to this distance and direction, this house should be on the outskirts of town. But what we can’t confirm is if there are any White Lotus Sect men outside, and if there are, how many of them.”
Feeling the impacts of the gunpowder back in the tomb, the passage has been dropping loosened pieces of stone constantly. As the magnitude of the shaking becomes increasingly greater, who knows how much powerful gunpowder Li Man and his men buried in there in order to obtain such an effect.
Everyone is tolerating the stale air, and staying in a dangerous passage that will collapse at any time is not an easy thing. A lot of them have already lost too much blood and are dizzy and unsteady. Those who are injured more severely, like Sui Zhou who is unconscious, can only be supported by their companions who are injured to a lesser degree.
When these domineering Embroidered Uniform Guards joined the Northern Administrative Court, they probably never expected to one day end up in such a pathetic situation. Twenty odd men entered (the tomb), and here in the passage, there are only less than ten of them.
But compared to Li Man’s tragic case, their current situation is considered an improved one. The dead have passed, but the ones left behind have to do their best to live.
Pang Qi cannot help but say, “Daren, let’s rush out, we may still have a way to survive!”
And yet, Tang Fan shakes his head, “No. Use your blade and open the box according to edges of the exit. if it’s all garments inside, there will be no sound when they fall, and then we can use that as a cover to make some observations first before proceeding.”
Pang Qi feels that this method is too wishy-washy, and cannot help but retort, “Why go to so much trouble? We don’t know how long more we can hold on, and the more we delay this, the smaller our chances of victory!”
Tang Fan only uses one sentence to refute and stop everyone’s protests, “Guang Chan handed all of you over to me, so I must do my best to ensure that more people survive.”
***
After Lady Chen helped Li Man to give birth to a son, and then handed the child over to a nearby family to raise, she herself then began to safeguard this little house, waiting for Li Man and the rest to bring over greater amounts of treasures from the tomb.
As the time they have arranged to meet has long gone and past, and Li Man and his men have yet to turn up, Lady Chen is also afraid of the beasts in the tomb and does not dare to go over and look for them. After waiting for several days, they believed that Li Man and the rest died inside, and she began to think about obtaining the treasures for herself.
Lady Chen is naturally promiscuous and is not a good, virtuous wife. After being with Li Man, she controlled herself slightly, but Li Man is after all an aging man and even with the best of disguises and illusions, his stamina cannot compare to that of a young man’s.
Now that Li Man is most likely dead, Lady Chen no longer has anything to worry about and starts to deliberately seduce the other members of the sect.
She is beautiful and gorgeous, and no man can resist her seduction, so when Tang Fan and the rest of them get here, Lady Chen and several other men are having fun in bed, so much so that they do not know what day it is even. Li Man probably would never have guessed even till his death that his woman so quickly began to mess around with other men. If he knew this, he probably would be so mad, enough for him to rise from the dead, and then die out of anger again.
This gave Pang Qi and the rest of them an advantage, however. While the few people in bed were tussling in the sheets, they emerged, and Lady Chen and the other men were all killed in bed before they could even react.
Wanting to take Lady Chen alive, however, Pang Qi and the others neglected to take note and gave her the opportunity to scream, which drew the attention of other disciples of the sect outside.
Both sides quickly are embroiled in a ferocious, intends battle. The glint of swords and blades flash on then spot, and blood splatters everywhere.
Theoretically, these disciples should not be of their match, but Pang Qi and the rest of them have lost too much energy and stamina before, so are unable to put in their best in the fight, seemingly struggling.
Tang Fan cannot fight and so will not go forth and become anyone’s burden. He can only watch from the sides.
He pats Qian San Er on the shoulder, “You did well today, this is all because of you!”
Immensely flattered, Qian San Er becomes incredibly excited. He has been stealing since young ever since he followed his shifu, and they’ve always been on the opposite side of officials and the courts, but now he even obtained the praise of an official envoy!
“Da, Da.. Daren’s praise, I truly do not deserve it!”
Seeing how excited he is, a smile emerges on Tang Fan’s exhausted face, “You were not tempted by Li Man and did not lower yourself to join him. This is enough to prove that you are not a bad person. Your shifu is no longer around, so do not involve yourself in illegal petty crimes anymore. When you’ve done too many bad things, you will eventually be punished for it. When you go back, find a legal way to support yourself!”
Qian San Er suddenly kneels down in front of Tang Fan, “I’ve already wanted to stop committing crimes and doing those things, but aside from those, I don’t know how to do anything else either. I beg daren to please point out a clear alternative for me!”
This person immediately went with the flow, and Tang Fan does not feel repulsed by this, instead thinking that Qian San Er is rather smart. This boy also has a good heart, and is a talent that can be folded, “We’ll talk when we get back.”
With these words, Qian San Er knows that Tang Fan has agreed and is delighted, kowtowing to Tang Fan three times in a row, the sound of his head hitting the ground bright and loud.
Who knew that Qian San Er used too much force in putting his head to the ground, and the intense battle before them was unable to wake Sui Zhou up, but the sound of his head hitting the ground has Sui Zhou’s brows furrowing.
Realising the movements of the person in his arms, Tang Fan looks down, and beams, “Guang Chuan, you’re awake, are you okay?”
Sui Zhou opens his eyes slowly, and the first thing he sees is Tang Fan’s concerned and anxious expression.
Sui Zhou, “Pfft!”
Tang Fan, “…”
What is this reaction? Did he hit his head and become silly?
Tang Fan cannot resist and feels for the other’s forehead, his gaze meeting Sui Zhou’s smiling eyes.
Tang-daren seems to have forgotten that he received a slap from Li Man earlier down in the tombs, and this led to swelling on one side of his face, swelling which has not yet gone down. His handsome, elegant image has been changed into that of a pig’s head, akin to the ones placed on ancestral offering tables. Seeing such a face, Sui Zhou cannot help but want to laugh.
However, after laughing, his heart melts more and more on the inside. He gazes at Tang Fan, and in his head only one thought is left.
Thankfully, this person is alright. Then no matter how severe he’s hurt, it is all worth it.
“… and Li Man?” Sui Zhou asks, his voice hoarse.
“Dead, Qian San Er killed him,” Tang Fan says.
Qian San Er fidgets, embarrassed, and he is about to make some humble proclamations, but Sui Zhou is not even looking at him.
Only one person can fit in the rectangular world he can see through his eyes. Both of their gazes meet, bringing with it a type of intimacy and flirtation that even Tang Fan himself does not realise.
And then, under Qian San Er’s eyes, Tang-daren, whose face is thicker than the walls of the Great Wall, slowly reddens.
===
Notes:
*萤囊之光 ying nang zhi guang
This is used to refer to the dim light that poor scholars use when they study at night, as they are unable to afford candles whenever they need them, they have to use them sparingly. However, scholars cannot skip out on studying at night just because they cannot afford more candles, and can only light them minimally - in this case, it’s referring to gold that does not shine as brightly as real, authentic gold. It’s a little hard to translate exactly in this context, especially as Qian San Er asks what this means later, so I changed it a little, but Qian San Er, who had not studied much, is asking what the ying nang means.
*五体投地 wu ti tou di
This literally means to falls flat on the ground entirely - in this context, it’s used as a metaphor to say that Qian San Er is entirely convinced without a single shred of doubt.
*夜路走多了,总会遇到鬼的
This is an idiom of sorts - what it literally means is that if you frequently walk in the night, you will at some point see a ghost. It’s usually used to describe someone doing something bad/committing crime - Qian San Er as a thief ‘walking the roads at night’ = committing crime and stealing, one of these days he will ‘meet a ghost’ = get into trouble basically.

ALSO, HOW DOES ZZS KNOW WHO WKX IS??
I mean, it makes sense, considering how invested he is in the whole armour mess and how badly he wants everyone dead.

Oh? 👀👀
Tumblr media
I’m possibly way off base here, but when it comes to the Five Lakes Alliance, I think Gao Chong is the most honourable one, while this asshole is the one I trust the least. I admit that I am basing this mostly on the fact that Gao Chong keeps memorial tablets of the people he supposedly wronged and is obviously grieving for them. Shen Shen is an obvious douchebag, I have no dilemma there, but I’m not yet sure what the problem with this one is. He just feels so slimy and shady and the moustache does not help.

I love these big location shots!

hey crys!! i got the idea from my new friend and moot, @/trashlord-007 to ask you, what are your favorite works on your account? i don’t mind whatever fandom or anything, i just want to get around to reading your writing and asking you for recommendations seems like a good start. of course i want to read everything one day ^_^
Ooo good question! And ahhhh I've read a couple of works from them before and I think I even reblogged one here way back when, one of the Kun fics I'm sure haha but yeah! I'm happy to share! Of course, obviously I love all my fics but if we're talking favorites then...
Zemblanity [WayV x Reader, Space/Prison AU, Yandere(?) it's more of a Thriller] - Honestly, the girls who were here were here and the ones who weren't weren't. When I first dropped this series this blog surged like crazy. I never had so many anon asks every day! It's currently going through some heavy rewrites, but the original is still up on my archive of our own account (I knew it was popular because I had like two or three people straight up plagiarize it on wattpad LMAOOOOO)
Prominence [NCT x Reader, Park Seonghwa x Reader, Idol AU, Social Media AU] - This one should really go without saying considering it's my longest series to date! But it's also significantly different compared to a lot of the series on this list. I promise! It's a romantic comedy!
Covalence [Qian Kun x Reader, University AU] - Ooh this was the last big fic on my first blog before I moved here. Nearly 20K of me trauma dumping into a fic asking the big question "What if?" seriously though, it's one of my all time favorites! I can't say much more without spoiling though but if you have free time, make a coffee and read through it!
Infatuation [Jaemin/Jungwoo/Sungchan/Johnny x Reader (not all of them lmao), University AU, Yandere] - HOOOO boy everyone's waiting for Johnny's ending and if I'm being honest it's done but it's way too fucking long AHAHAHA but basically the premise is that you're being stalked and you don't know who but yeah! I know you're a yandere person so if you have time check it out! I think Jaemin's is the most popular but I'd have to check.
Lavenza [Lee Taeyong x Reader, Scientist AU, Yandere(?)] - Kind of one of my least popular fics, but I genuinely had a lot of fun writing it (so I may be a little disappointed lmao fsdhfkh) but if you're into suspense mixed with sci-fi give it a go!
Without a Trace [ATEEZ x Reader, Vigilante AU] - Another kind of unpopular one but that's most likely because I mainly write for NCT LMAOOOO but I really like the tone of this one! Plus, YN's a badass in it too.
Black Magic [NCT 127 x Witch!Reader, Magic AU] - Man it's actually kinda interesting because Black Magic isn't all too popular here on Tumblr but my readers on AO3 eat this concept up. So like??? If you like magic, read this one! I put a lot of time into the world building of it and I'm currently working on it's sequel Midnight Illusion.
And, ofc, honorable mentions:
How to Keep a Promise
Midnight Coffee
Fate's Gamble
Happy reading, love! And don't worry about it if they're not to your taste either, obviously, everyone has their preferred genres! Much love from me as always <3

Ten has always been overly affectionate. In the eyes of Weishennies, Winwin and Yangyang bear the brunt of it. On variety shows and lives Ten can sometimes be found floating around one of his two didis or entirely attached to them. It’s become a joke among fans and members, the way Ten calls Yangyang baby while the maknae responds with countless protests and whines. But something fans are unaware of is that off-camera, the Thai male’s affection extends to all the members. Ten is known to demand touches from most any friend in reach. Even Kun, despite the pairs’ constant bickering. The WayV members have grown used to Ten’s insatiable need to hold and be held. There’s a silent understanding between the 7 roommates. All the boys know that comforting Ten is just more of a physical thing. Each member understands, and some have even become fond of the actions. Most surprisingly Winwin. Though he seems like a total skinship anti, he’s all smiles whenever Ten envelopes him in a hug.
For the endless love and acceptance of his bandmates, Ten feels so incredibly blessed. But even in such a wonderful situation, there are things Ten can’t have. And lines he dare not cross.
To Ten, there’s nothing inherently romantic or sexual about his lingering touches. To him, spooning with his friends is his way of showing platonic affection. Obviously some things are reserved for romantic/sexual partners: making out and things of the like. But the lines between friendship and partnership are far thinner to him than most. He hasn’t told his friends about his affinity for kisses, having only recently come to terms with it himself. All through his life he’s had these fleeting urges to kiss his friends, and he’d always passed them off as intrusive thoughts. But lately, these urges have become more persistent. When his members are especially kind to him, he feels his attention float briefly to their lips, wishing to give them a small peck. It’s always a peck. A forehead kiss, eskimo, cheek, knuckle, nose; always something innocent. A mere grazing of lips to skin. No matter how innocent the intent or the action, Ten can’t help but feel completely and utterly ashamed.
Friends aren’t supposed to want to kiss each other, he chides to himself. The dancer already feels like enough of a bother asking to cuddle and hold hands, he fears that by taking the extra step, he’ll lose all 6 of them entirely. So he pushes these feelings deep down, and continues on, hoping the others don’t notice his worry.
Unfortunately for Ten, Kun prides himself on being in tune with his members’ emotions. Kun first realizes something is wrong during one of the group’s rare off days. He and Ten had opted to stay home, the younger practically BEGGING him to continue watching Doctor Who with him. The two eldest boys have been watching it together for a couple months, and have already plowed through 2 seasons (that’s quite impressive considering how packed their schedules are). Since it’s nearly impossible to refuse Ten anything, Kun finds himself lazing the day away on the couch, carding his fingers through the soft brown locks strewn across his lap.
“Fuck. Everything,” Ten says after they finish the season 2 finale. “Whoever made this episode is a monster.”
Kun giggles, leaning down to wipe stray tears from Ten’s cheeks. “You knew it had to end eventually Tennie.”
“YEAH BUT THAT WAS SO M E A N!” Ten removes his head from Kun’s lap as the older laughs harder. “It’s not funny!” The Thai man pouts, only eliciting more laughter.
“Aw you poor thing,” Kun teases, pushing himself off the couch and holding a expectant hand out to the pouting brunette. “C’mon you big baby. Let me make you something to cheer you up.”
Never one to turn down free food, Ten trudges to the kitchen and sits down at the table while his ge gets to work. Ten watches Kun work for 15 minutes before turning to the table and placing a bowl of noodles in front of Ten. The younger looks up at the singer then, an almost indecipherable look on his face. In those few seconds of silence, Kun sees hesitation in Ten’s eyes, an uncharacteristic moment of pause. It’s like Ten wants to do something but he’s restraining himself. Then all too quickly, the look is gone. Ten thanks Kun for the meal before scarfing it down.
Kun doesn’t bring it up then, or when he sees the same look directed at Hendery the next night while they’re playing Monopoly. He waits a week before finally confronting the boy, having seen the same hesitant gaze 5 or more times by now.
He decided to confront him after their biweekly Just Dance tournament. Kun and Ten were on a team together and kicking everyone else’s asses. After winning their 4th consecutive battle they’d hugged victoriously. When they pulled back, Ten had “the look” written all over his face. And without warning, he pecked Kun on the nose.
Oh.
Ten stood straight in horror, he didn’t even give Kun a chance to say anything before bolting out of the room. The 5 other members followed him with eyes full of worry and concern. They’re only semi-placated with Kun’s promise of “I’ll talk to him.”
Kun opened the door to Ten and Hendery’s shared room to see Ten facing the wall dejectedly, curled tightly into his blankets. The older made sure he moved softly and quietly, not wanting to spook the boy. He sat himself on the bed across from Ten’s huddled figure, not missing the other boy’s flinch. Kun lays down behind the boy, wrapping his arms around his middle.
“I’m not mad Yongqin, if that’s what you’re worried about,” Kun uses Ten’s Mandarin name, knowing the younger loves the way it rolls off his tongue. “I just want to understand, ok?” The older rubs soothing circles on Ten’s arm with his finger.
“I’m sorry,” Ten whispers, almost imperceptibly quiet.
“Qinqin I told you there’s nothing to be s--”
“No but I am sorry,” Ten says, turning himself in Kun’s hold to face the older, but still not making eye contact. “I-I shouldn’t have done that.”
“I could tell it was bothering you.” Kun says, raising the eyebrow of the dancer.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah,” Kun confirms. “So do you have a crush on me?”
“Not at all,” Ten says honestly. He fiddles with his fingers between their parallel chests rather than meet Kun’s gaze. “I just… hhh I don’t know how to begin to explain it.”
“Take your time.” Kun assures which Ten is exceedingly grateful for. Kun has always been patient and level-headed that way.
“It’s kinda like… you know how you hug your friends? To show them you care about them?” Kun nods easily. “Well, for me… kissing is kinda equivalent to a hug with a friend. It’s just...my way of showing affection I guess,” Kun nods again, taking in every word Ten says. “It became apparent a few months ago. But I didn’t want to bother you guys with it, so I kept quiet. And I know it’s weird and it’s really no big deal if you don’t want to I can--”
“Ten.”
“Yeah, It’s too much isn’t it? Can we just pretend this never happened? I’m really sor--”
“Ten.”
“Look Kun don’t worry about it. It’s really fine. I just want to--”
“Yongqin.”
Ten finally ceases his baseless ranting. Kun rubs up and down the boy’s upper arms.
“Ten it’s fine. I never said I disliked it. If platonic kisses are something you want… something you need,” Kun smiles lightly. “Then I don’t see a problem with that.”
This time Ten actually does look Kun in the eye, cat-like eyes wide with disbelief. “What?”
“Just explain to me what you need Yongqin,” Kun whispers understandingly, and for some reason it makes Ten blush a little. “I’m all ears.”
Ten was left completely dumbfounded. He had just proposed something… crazy.... and yet Kun isn’t running. He doesn’t seem weirded out, or scared, or disgusted. He’s still there.
“U-um…” Ten starts. “Just… small ones, I guess. Like cheek, nose, knuckles, forehead, hair, that kind of stuff,” Kun processes all this again. “A-and pecks on the lips are nice sometimes… i-if that’s not too much.”
Kun shakes his head and smiles, “Sounds good to me!” And to punctuate it, he places a small kiss on Ten’s forehead, setting the boy’s cheeks aflame once more.
“T-Thanks,” He says genuinely.
“Of course Tenten,” The older contemplates giving him another kiss for assurance, but he decides that he shouldn’t overwhelm Ten too much just yet. “Anything for you.”

SUMMARY: an au in which two people run into each other after 5 years but they aren't the same people they used to be...
PAIRING: mafia leader!johnny x teacher/single mom! reader
GENRE: angst, suggestive themes, and some smut.
WARNING(S): this isn’t fully written ok this is a unfinished piece i did like almost two years ago so its kinda bad and skips around but i wanted to post it anyways lmao, swearing, slight smut but it’s more of like a flashback of when it happened(?)
WORD COUNT: 2797
"okay everyone, class dismissed," you announced, smiling.
the class, individually, walked out of the classroom. your assistant and best friend, qian kun, stood by the door to say goodbye to the students. some said goodbye to you too, some didn't. you were too tired to notice who said what. you did notice your favorite two students walk in once everyone left.
one of two being mark lee. mark has been one of your students for the past 3 four years. you didn't know many of your students' personal lives but he had a public reputation. he's a member of the biggest motorcycle club in all of south korea. you didn't know much about the gang but you heard the roar of the motorcycles go by your apartment everyday. mark's feared by everyone here... except yourself, kun, and lucas. you all knew he was too much of a goofball to really hurt anyone. then there was lucas. he's the same age as mark so you had him as a student for 3 years too. he was taller than mark and a lot more scarier. the 6'0 young man was a selective mute who glared at everyone who even glanced at him. lucas gained a reputation as fighter in his freshman year after he nearly beat a senior to death when he was being made fun of. the next day, lucas walked in with mark sporting matching leather jackets with NCT stitched across the back. when kun came in two years ago, lucas tried to scare him off. luckily, kun wasn't the kind of person to be easily scared. they were both chinese, shy but had horrible tempers. after a heart to heart with him, he let his guard down around you and kun.
“you look horrible,” lucas said once he fully looked at you.
mark slapped his shoulder, “she doesn’t look horrible... the bags under her eyes do.
"leave her alone guys... they're designer bags." kun joked, making the two boys laugh.
"i'm convinced you all hate me." you said playfully, undoing your hair.
it had been pinned into a tight bun all day, giving you a headache. you also kicked off your heels as well - the daily ritual after school.
"i don't get how you deal with kids all day." mark questioned taking out his homework.
"you're one of those kids i have to deal with all day."
he rolled his eyes, "not me... i don't count. you love me."
"yeah yeah, back to work." you smiled, as you began to plan for the next day.
that's how you spent your afternoons. the four of you would stay after school until your daughter got out of school too. lucas and mark doing homework and projects while kun and yourself planned what you would teach next. if they wanted to talk or vent to you, they would... especially lucas.
the two hours went by and you were now walking out the school.
"you two need a ride?" kun offered them.
lucas shook his head and nodded towards the parking lot. you turned around seeing a small group of bikers staring back at you.
"o-oh." you stuttered.
you couldn't see their faces clearly due to face masks and sunglasses but you were intimidated. three tall, muscular men with motorcycles staring at you was not something you’re used to. they both said goodbye before walking towards the group.
"i couldn't even see their eyes but it still feels like the one in front was staring into my soul,” you mumbled to kun as you walked to his car.
he shrugged casually, "maybe he was."
"kun, this isn't funny."
"relax", kun pulled you closer, "they have a bad reputation but they're not randomly going to jump you or kill you. they go after those who cause problems or mess with them. you're innocent… well some nights you are."
you ignored the smirk on his face and got into his car. kun's apartment was right next to yours. he's heard your moans and screams plenty of times due to your previous relationship. he swore he wasn't that bothered by it but it was still embarrassing.
"kun?" you turned towards him, “what are you doing later?”
he thought for a moment, "well... we still have to finish wednesday's lesson plan. so i will be over to cook my god-daughter dinner and then we're going to work."
you let out a long, dramatic sigh as you got out the car. it was going to be a long night.
•••
the next day was uneventful. classes were boring and you wanted to leave. you loved teaching. it's always been your dream job but some days, you craved a vacation.
you currently didn't have a class right now so you were printing notes of today’s lessons. the door opened slightly, making you sit up. it was only kun.
"so you have a visitor." he said, with an unsure look on his face.
"why the face? who is it?"
"it's one of those bikers from yesterday. apparently he's also legally lucas's guardian." kun admitted.
lucas' guardian? you both knew lucas never mentioned his parents but you didn't assume he was adopted either.
"you can send him in. i'll be okay."
kun nodded before disappearing again. you closed your eyes and took a deep breath. you were nervous. why did he want to meet with you? was it strictly about lucas?
a knock on the door made you sit up again. the door opened and it was the last person you ever expected to see.
johnny smirked slightly, "hey, y/n.”
"oh you have got to be kidding me." you mumbled to yourself.
johnny seo. a man you met back in your hometown of chicago. his mother lived next door to your family. you remembered her telling you that her son was finally coming home. when you saw the then 20 year old man, you knew he was trouble. yet you were still so eager to trust him and give yourself away. but that was five years ago. back when you were in college. back when you were dumb and naive. back when you fell in love for the first time.
back before he left you pregnant without a word.
"i came here yesterday to pick lucas and mark and i was very surprised to see you walk out with them." johnny said as he walked closer to you.
"there is no way this is happening right now." you laughed but there was no humor in your voice.
johnny ignored your remarks and openly checked you out, "you look as beautiful as ever... how've you been?"
you scoffed and looked up at him fully for the first time since he walked in. he looked as beautiful as ever too. his hair was longer and lighter than it used to be. he was more fit and had a few more tattoos. those beautiful brown eyes were what changed the most. they were much colder and didn't hold that same sparkle that they used to.
"i don't know why my well-being should concern you but as lucas' guardian, you should focus on mentioning him." you said, folding your hands gently in your lap.
johnny leaned on your desk, "mark always mentioned a ms. y/n that him and lucas stayed after school with and i just knew it couldn't have been you... i should've known though. y/n isn't a common name here. you always talked about how much you wanted to be a teacher and help kids and how much you wanted to come to seoul."
"if you're not here about lucas, you can leave, mr. seo." you stated before getting up.
this whole situation was insane. you never thought you’d run into johnny again. your life was going great. now all of the sudden, he's in your classroom, making your heart beat out of your chest. you erased the chalkboard and wrote the date in the top right corner. when you turned back around, johnny's arms trapped you against the board.
"why are you ignoring me like this?" johnny mumbled.
"there's nothing i have to say to you anymore. when you have to talk about lucas, then i'll talk to you." you said, pushing him away.
he sighed, "i want to talk about us, sweetheart. lucas is 21. he can handle himself. as far as i know, his grades are good. well, that's what mark tells me. that kid doesn't even talk."
you raised an eyebrow, "he doesn't talk to you?"
"no, he only talks to mark... does he talk to you?"
"yeah," you held back a laugh, "looks like i have more of a connection with your gang than you do and you're the leader."
johnny shrugged, "you might have more of a connection with mark and lucas than i do... but you and i have a better connection than anybody."
"had... had a connection. a one-sided one at that."
"i cared about you. just not how you cared about me. i never loved you. you were just supposed to be a fling. although i will admit i called my mom to see how you and the baby were doing. crying into your pillow for two weeks? that's a little pathetic, don't you think?" he asked, leaning against the board.
"fuck you, johnny. you left me. how was i supposed to feel?"
"i told you. you meant nothing to me."
"obviously if you left me as soon as i said i was pregnant." you whispered but you knew he heard you.
the door opened, making both of your heads look towards it. kun.
"am i interrupting something?" kun asked, setting a pack of papers on his desk.
"no, i was just leaving." johnny announced as he walked towards the door, "see you soon, sweetheart.”
as soon as johnny left, you let out a big sigh.
"what the hell happened?" kun asked as he began to separate the papers.
"that man... was johnny as in the same johnny who left me in chicago... jasmine's father."
kun knew everything. being that you only had three friends, two of them being your students, you told him your life story.
"no way... did you know he was that motorcycle president back there?"
you shook your head, "when i first met him in chicago, people around the city had warned me that he was no good. that he only came back to chicago to avoid getting into trouble in korea. i didn't know he was in a motorcycle club at all. i was too blind to see all that."
"too blind because your face was being pushed into his pillow?" kun slyly asked.
you scoffed, "keep stapling papers, qian."
your mind flashed back to what johnny said before he left...
see you soon, sweetheart.
•••
johnny sighed for the nth time this evening. he couldn't get you out of his head now. the woman he thought he left for good. when he met in you in your shared hometown, he thought you were perfect for his needs- beautiful and naive as fuck. you were a really good person. really nice, caring, the total package. he ruined that... almost every night. you didn't deserve that. you didn't deserve for johnny to ruin your innocence just for you to fall in love and have him leave months later.
one day you told johnny you were pregnant. the next day, he was on a plane back to south korea. johnny wondered how the kid was doing. she or he would be about 5 years old. maybe 6. did they look like him? did they look more like you? were they a perfect combination of you both?
"why the fuck am i thinking about this shit now? i didn't give a fuck before." johnny mumbled to himself.
it was roughly 12:30am. johnny wondered if you were still the night owl he remembered you to be. most of that coming from when he used to keep you up all night. he wondered if you’d been with anyone since him. who was he kidding? you were gorgeous and your body was perfect. you could easily have men crawling at the sight of you. the thought of another man touching you bothered johnny. he knew no one could make you feel like he did though. you always felt so tight and wet around him…mouth always ready to take him whenever he asked… the sinful screams and scratches when he’d fuck you real good. johnny could feel himself getting hard at the thought.
he got up and headed out the door. he knew he would end up regretting this later...
•••
you gasped when you opened the door, "johnny, what the fuck are you doing here?"
"i told you that i was going to see you soon,” johnny said quietly as he took in your appearance.
you crossed your arms, "when you said soon, i didn't think it'd be a day later. i also didn't think it would be at 1:38am... or at my house."
"maybe i missed you,” he smirked slightly.
"bullshit. seriously johnny, why are you here? how'd you even know where i live?"
"let me in and i'll tell you."
you looked up into his eyes before opening the door further. johnny smiled at you as he walked in.
"okay, so answer my questions." you demanded walking into the kitchen area.
"i am here because i was thinking about you." he admitted, staring at the marble counter.
"thinking about me for what?"
"well... i was actually i was thinking about how it felt to be inside of you then i got hard and decided to visit you."
you rolled your eyes, "at least you're being honest now."
"what do you mean 'now'? i was honest before." johnny questioned, slightly offended.
"no, you weren't johnny... not to me."
"i couldn't be honest to you. what did you want me to say? 'hey i'm only here until it’s clear for me to go back home. i killed a few people and had to lay low in chicago. you're a beautiful woman and all. i love hanging out with you but i love fucking you more. don't get attached though because i'm going to leave you.' is that what you wanted me to say?" he asked.
you threw your hands in the air, "yes! i would've loved to hear that. it would have saved me from heartbreak and trust issues. i was 20 and naive but if you told me that you just wanted a fuck buddy, then i wouldn't have gotten attached and i definitely would've kept condoms around!"
johnny looked taken back. he’s never seen you this mad before.
"who the fuck are you yelling at?” his words sounded cold but he was more intrigued than mad.
"i'm not yelling at you. i am talking loud. i'm tired of you already and it's only been two days! when you left, i blamed myself, wondering what i did wrong. i was stressed about having to carry a child for nine months and raise it all while being a full-time college student. it was your fault johnny! you and your shit communication skills!" you ranted, breathing heavily.
"momma." a small voice called out.
johnny’s head quickly turned towards the door. your little girl was standing there in a matching pj set. just one look at her and anyone could tell she was johnny’s daughter. you could see that jasmine had his eyes, nose and lips but had your hair and skin tone. your daughter was beautiful.
"yes, baby?" you replied softly, "did i wake you?"
"a little... who's he?" jasmine asked.
johnny crouched down to her level, "i- i'm johnny. your... mother's friend."
she tilted her head at him, "i'm 5 but i'm not stupid. you're my daddy. you look just like me."
"if anything, you look just like me." johnny corrected her.
"nope! you copied me first!" she shot back,
"wait. momma, you're crying."
johnny turned around to see you quickly wiping your tears away.
"i'm fine, jasmine, go and lay back down okay?”
she nodded and skipped off into her room.
johnny cleared his throat, “i know you don’t want to hear this… but i have to be in her life, y/n. i know that i fucked up but she deserves to have a father in her life.”
you scoffed, “wow. now the mafia leader wants to tell me what MY daughter needs. that’s funny.”
“it’s OUR daughter and you know i’m right.”
he was right. you didn’t want your daughter to grow up without her father, but you’d never admit that to him. you knew all the trouble being in the mafia brought to johnny and you feared the same thing would happen to your little girl.

Writing Tag Game
Thank u @s1utspeare for the tag, this looks fun -3-)/
my ao3 is softcorevulcan (just like my art tumblr)
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
40. So many old spirk and POI and Angel ones tbh.
2. What is your total AO3 word count?
572,029 (like half of that is what makes monsters stop devouring and what will they find when i am ripped apart)
3. Top five fics by kudos
just a ribbon - 586
Vulcan Make Outs and Awkward Admissions - 369
Can A Person Be A Home? - 247
where they belong - 223
and that’s in pieces too - 205
4. Do you respond to comments, and why?
;-; <3 yes when I can. I love comments and I want to respond to them all, but sometimes I don’t get to them for months and then I’m like ‘may I still respond? I took so long ;-;’ I love that people read something and had feelings and want to thank them for reading.
5. What’s the fic you have written with the angstiest ending?
Perhaps Maybe Not Anywhere? I don’t consider it angsty but as a standalone it basically is. It’s a story about if Kirk and Spock in aos timeline got together pre-movie, then obviously didn’t work out because they aren’t ready in their character growth yet, and so they split. But I mean I wrote it to fit with movie canon so you can interpret it as they still grow together through the movies and end up together a la spirk in any universe. It’s just in that particular fic quite rough ToT. It’s also more of a character study, so it’s more resolution for character’s inner worlds than their relationships.
fuck I forgot! Or ‘seen this coming’ which is Gongsun Qian from Men With Sword reflecting on his own death, that’s hella angsty. Or ‘i love you’ which is set in Theory of Love and is Khai’s pov before he shapes up, so its in line with canon angst of that point in the story (but again according to canon things improve and they get together later post-my-story so??). Or ‘in another version’ which is quite sad as its Lan Xichen grieving, but in a way I wrote a much happier sequel ‘over the moon’ (I also wrote a happier sequel to the angst-ridden jiang cheng fic) so I don’t think they’re contenders. I try to make it so if I write something sad its only as sad as canon? And usually has an implied happier ending later or else I’ll probably write a sequel later.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Maybe Exit_Success because its a happy ending post-canon story for POI where everyone lives? Which I personally find consoling lol ToT.
just a ribbon is fairly happy ending, maybe that’s part of why it’s the most kudos lol? over the moon i find incredibly hopeful - reincarnated, everyone’s happier and optimistic and just nice and good things are on the horizon. What the Cat Wants is literally just a fic about pingxie cuddling so of course its very happy throughout happy. what makes monsters stop devouring also ends super happy with everyone dead being brought back to life (and i mean everyone like side characters come back babes) and the main pairs in love and happy, optimistic and ready to be brave to handle the challenges left. i try to end a lot of my fics optimistic at least? i hate ending sad so i only do it in rare cases when canon also ends sad and its only a character study...
i’d probably recommend just a ribbon, over the moon, and What the Cat Wants as my fluffiest fics throughout though.
7. Do you write crossovers, if so what’s the craziest one you have done?
When I was younger I think I wrote Death Note/Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts/X-men Evolution but tbh you could crossover KH with pretty much anything and it would only be as weird as canon.
I want to eventually write a dmbj/guardian and two silent reading/guardian crossovers (set one in the past, one in present) but who knows when I will get time for those little ideas.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
got hate on vulcan make outs and awkward admissions for too many curse words oh man. i recognize i put a lot in that one but also i don’t know why they didn’t click off the instant they saw the word fuck if they knew they didn’t like cursing? instead they read it all, told me it was awful trash that shouldn’t exist unless i took all the cursing out then it would be great. that fic is so old my dude i was not gonna rewrite it so yeah ;-;
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
like half my fics ToT idk very tender smut because i cannot write pwp without actual plot, and gratuitous mushiness and cuddling apparently. like... wmmsd is 270k of glorified plot (which admittedly is important) but wow did i take a while to get to the smut. and wwtfwiara the longest spirk fic i wrote was originally supposed to be entirely pwp but the plot escalated and i’m fairly sure a lot of people ultimately ended up reading for the intense plot (despite there being smut every single chapter lol ToT since that was the initial goal for the fic)
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that i’m aware thankfully
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Someone once asked to translate ‘in another version’ into russian, which i said yes to and to link me cause i’d love to check it out, but i’m not sure if they ever actually had the time to since they never responded after that.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
maybe way back on ffnet when I wrote so much kh. so much. just kh and death note everywhere. actually if we go back to death note fandom i’m sure like 1/2 were angsty but i cannot remember them. also one day i should... maybe post all the 100 drabbles i wrote way back in the day on tumblr, just so they’re backed up somewhere.
13. All time favorite ship!
Weilan, they are everything I want in a ship, in a story, I’m spoiled. ;-; <3 (ye zun’s my favorite character which puts me in a weird place though so shoutout to the rarepair kunlun/ye zun that i wrote 270k for and idk if anyone else has but i WILL read it)
Probably in no particular order though: weilan, xena/gabrielle, spirk, pingxie, luo wenzhou/fei du
then harold finch/john reese, root/shaw, garashir.
I watched the shows happy to see them, I will probably read a fic for any of those pairs above. Special mentions to: moshang, faith/buffy, illyria/wesley, angel/wesley, gunn/wesley, jin guangyao/lan xichen, iron triangle, a ning/pangzi all of which I’d also read a fic for if i see one.
i know if and when i read can ci pin, it may consume my attention as a sci fi ship written by priest, and overwhelm me to get added to spirk and weilan on that list, which is why i still have not read it ToT
14.What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but don’t think you will?
‘What will they find when I am ripped apart?’
I love that fic very dearly and wrote it over a period of years, but I know its probably never getting finished. It still has plot I haven’t worked out, and I only get inspiration for that specific fic when I’m feeling down in a very particular way and in a writing mood. So I suspect if I do finish it will be in 5 or more years ;-; I wish I could get in the zone to finish it though.
15. What are your writing strengths?
Being able to depict emotions, make people feel what the characters are feeling. Maybe also to be able to get people to sink into a scene like its a movie being watched. those are the kinds of things I’ve heard people mention before? also the way i lay out sentences and paragraphs, i try to use length of sentences and paragraphs, stops and pauses, to control the flow of the reader’s attention and i think to a degree it works out well.
i think a strength for me is doing character studies, just in general hopefully depicting where characters are internally well.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
not planning ahead if i dare to start multi-chaptered fic. usually nowadays i avoid that by thankfully making either standalone stories with sequels or refusing to show anyone fics unless i personally already plotted it all out and wrote it already ToT. but i do miss posting wips, because this way a lot of fics never see daylight lol
also just being motivated? i go for months without being able to write, then get a burst of energy and can but i have to basically write the entire fic at that point. So it’s hard to pace out longer things I’d like to write.
maybe writing specifically - getting to the point, sometimes. at some point i got really interested in the kind of writing that lingers in scenes and sinks into them so you can savor them? and i really enjoyed it so i learned to do it, but now its definitely a detriment to me trying to Finish writing things. Whereas I know years ago I used to be much better at very short concise only-needed-words-chosen fics. I’ve very much lost that, sometimes to a point it affects my writing negatively I think.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
if its needed? i think i have added vulcan words to a few fics the same way the star trek novels do, and in my own writing for my oc universes that have some languages made for them so i suppose that would be like lord of the rings maybe.
18. First fandom you wrote for?
Maybe? X-men Evolution? I remember I literally wrote them just reacting to a movie, as you do way back on ffnet days lol. I think it was my first fanfic, and I do appreciate it for getting me into writing more (and also more into character concept art), as did kh.
19. Fave fic you have written?
this is so hard ToT i love a lot? and have a special fondness for a ton of the dmbj and the untamed ones.
a tie between ‘of a kind’ and ‘what makes monsters stop devouring.’
I love both dearly for very different reasons. of a kind is t’pring/uhura and a rare newer fic i’ve written where i managed to get back to my old concise writing style, and it flows so lovely i Love how i wrote it and how it reads. i love rereading it.
wmmsd is my guardian post canon fix-it fic and its the longest thing i’ve both ever written and completed. it proved to me i could finish chaptered fic over a time period, finish writing a long story with a complex plot, and its a great example of my favorite version of my usual writing style nowadays. it’s also weilan and ye zun centric and so being my favorite ship, and having my favorite characters, means i reread.
Bonus: what are your rare pairs?
I added this, so if anyone wants to cut this question out if you’re tagged please feel free -3-)/
A Ning/Pangzi OK THEY’RE GREAT, Time Raiders and TLT2 and all of Pangzi’s projecting are to blame for this ship taking off and never leaving my mind since!
Illyria/Wesley not intensely rare, but rare Enough there’s barely any fics when I love Illyria and just want to read more about herrrrr
Wells/Bellamy that was most of my old the 100 fanfic i miss wells and was bitter yeah
Willow/Buffy again not incredibly rare but I’m a sap for best friends to lovers.
Uhura/T’Pring also not incredibly rare but one of my favorite fics i ever wrote is about them and i am always thinking about them and i ;-; i WILL read ;-;
Panzi/San Shu I’m not gonna write it (probably) because i hate san shu the little demon But Panzi made me believe they’re life partners cause of tlt3 so the angst level of not knowing if you’re in love with the real San Shu or the fake? Or that now you’re with the fake, do you even know?? Fucking Wild. so wild so Intense to even contemplate wow
Kunlun/Ye Zun I have good reasons and u have to read wmmsd to know them ToT im kidding, more like i contemplated it and that sure was a wild concept that Worked. i WILL read this if anyone else has ever wrote it
Zhao Yunlan/Ye Zun if they’re actually in love. because its bizarre and i WANT to know what au the writer wrote for this to make sense? how did they change canon, where is shen wei because he’d have to be gone for this to happen? what Happened??? i will read this if i see it probably
Nie Huaisang/Jiang Cheng i convinced myself to ship it when i wrote a jc character study and it just? happened?? and i was like WOW this works and now i am on board
THANK YOU FOR TAGGING ME @s1utspeare IT WAS SO FUN <3 <3 <3 i’m tagging anyone who would like to do this and: @humanlighthouse @jockvillagersonly @keyhsahla @pissmeoffanddie @eirenical @elletromil @staidwaters
