Got a oneshot! Have a fic where Sans rejects your romantic pursuits with a happy twist ;)
CW: Flashback section containing Sans’ ex, where he wasn’t having a good time
(Sans & Gender Neutral Reader)
Sans doesn’t know what he thinks about the whole romance thing after a disastrous start. What happens when a precious friend confesses?
——————
It wasn’t entirely unexpected.
Sans didn’t think much of it when you came that day. Sans would often usually invite you over anyway, though today you were first to ask him if you could visit. Which was fine- he’s never as comfortable with anyone else as much as he was comfortable with you. (Maybe Papyrus, but even then there were things Sans wouldn’t tell his brother because he didn’t want to burden him with problems that Sans would rather burden himself with.)
You were laughing. He always loved it when you laughed.
“so i told him: paper-thin skin? buddy. pal. i ain’t got skin.”
You were in an uproar, slapping your knee. “Oh my god! I’d give the world to see the look on his face,”
“oh yeah. definitely unforgettable. man got so red faced he looked like he was gonna burst. he then stomped out like an angry toddler.”
You were giggling, before the both of you fell into a silence. That was a normal part of conversations, Sans was used to it. Especially with you, the silence was never unwelcome. But this time… something felt different. The air has shifted. Your carefree expression had changed into something more contemplative. He wasn’t sure what it was, then. Or maybe, he just didn’t want to read too deep into it.
You spoke up.
“... Hey Sans? Can I tell you something?”
Why was he nervous?
“... yeah?”
“It’s… um. Give me a second…” you laughed nervously. “Haha, sorry, I feel a little sick.”
Sans’ brows furrowed. “what’s up? you ok..?”
You huffed. “Ok. Yeah. Sorry for ruining the moment? But uh… it’s been on my mind for a while, and I have to tell you. I hope you’re ok with me saying this but. I like you, Sans. Kind of… a lot?”
… Ringing. Sans hears ringing. It feels like something in his soul crashed.
“... Sans?”
Sans wasn’t there. His mind was somewhere else.
“i just… i just don’t know if i like you in that way…”
Her face broke into despair. She wouldn’t look his way. She didn’t even say a word to him.
“w… wait. why are you… where are you going?”
“I can’t be here.”
It was years ago. Monsters had lived on the surface for about a year. She was one of Papyrus’ friends, and their first meeting had been wonderful. It still leaves an ache in his chest when he thinks about it now, how hopeful he was when he met her. She was fun, always got Sans involved in social events, always found her way towards him when he was sitting on the sidelines while Papyrus took the stage.
“hey i wouldn’t recommend the punch.”
“Why not?”
“y’see, i like funny things. and that thing… it ain’t got a punchline.”
“... Are you seriously punning?”
“i think i’m being funny.”
“Hah, that’s so stupid,”
She was laughing. But when Sans thinks about it now, maybe it was a pitying one. Sans wasn’t one to judge, puns didn’t win everyone over.
She quickly became a regular in his life, the first human friend he’s made since the surface, one that seemed more interested in him than his brother. She would even pout and joke when Sans didn’t give her enough attention which was cute, at the time. It was easy introducing her to his friends, with how often she tagged along with him.
She would put her arm over his shoulders, hug him, get so close to kissing but miss… Sans never initiated, but only because he wasn’t much of a physical person to begin with. It was nice to have someone so affectionate with him.
He really liked having her in his life.
And then… came that fateful day.
“I was going to wait for you. But you never asked me out.”
“what do you mean…?”
“I know you’re smart, Sans. I’ve been obvious. I just don’t know if you even like me.”
He didn’t know where this had come from. He was suddenly put on the spot, struggling to give her an answer, an answer that he knew she wanted. But Sans was lost.
“i just… i just don’t know if i like you in that way…”
“...”
She was stoic. She was upset with him, she left him alone in his room after he brought out the games he was hoping to play together. Had he made a mistake…? Was he really that dense? Was he just terrible with commitment?
She… she deserved better.
So he decided to fix it. At least, he thought he was fixing it. Though it turned to be a decision Sans would regret soon after.
He showed up at her door the next night. She hadn’t responded to his texts, his calls. Not even Papyrus’. He felt guilty, like he ruined something perfectly good.
i can’t lose her.
Sans was starting to panic if she maybe had left- then the door opened. Sans soul shook when he saw how her face fell when she saw his face. She was going to retreat back into her room.
“w-wait! please listen to me,” His hand was at the door. “i… i made a mistake. you’re important to me, ok? and i think i want… to be with you.”
His soul sung when she finally looked him in the eyes. There were tears in hers, but she was smiling, and he was happy to have her hugging him again. The tension snapping was a relief. That he saved himself. But even then he wondered… why did it taste bitter to say those last few words?
It… didn’t last long. More and more of Sans’ time was taken up by her, which… should be a good thing. Couples should spend lots of time together, right? But he didn’t have time for his friends anymore. Everytime she went out, he needed to come with.
“Sans, you smell like ketchup.”
“oh… yeah, i put too much on my hotdog.”
“Come on, you need to eat something better. People keep telling me you smell like grease.”
“... really?”
“Yeah. Here, I got you new clothes. Crisp!”
“oh… thanks.”
“Get ready, I’m planning to go at six.”
He was becoming active. He was going out every day, he wasn’t locking himself in his room.
It was for the better, he told himself. She brought out the life in him.
… Sans always thought he was intuitive. He was the best at reading people. He’s the judge. It came to him like breathing.
But apparently, he had been blinded. He had a hard time trusting himself. That maybe his gut feeling was wrong.
“SANS…”
Papyrus had found him alone during a party, having escaped to the bathroom. His sockets had bags under them. His face was dripping with water. He just… needed to rest. Without anyone else around.
“ARE YOU ALRIGHT?”
“yeah… i am. just needed to freshen up is all.”
Papyrus looked so… sad. He hadn’t seen his brother frown so deeply, in a way that made Sans feel guilty.
“SANS. I KNOW YOU FEEL LIKE YOU NEED TO PROTECT ME FROM YOUR FEELINGS EVEN THOUGH I DON’T NEED YOU TO DO THAT BUT… YOU HAVEN’T LIED SINCE WE SURFACED, AND NOW IT’S BACK. AND I THINK… YOU MIGHT BE LYING TO YOURSELF AS WELL. BROTHER… WHAT’S THE MATTER?”
Sans was getting sloppy. He looked away from him, to the mirror- he couldn’t handle that sorrowful look on Papyrus’ face. All that did though, was force him to confront his own expression. His signature smile wasn’t even there. And Sans couldn’t muster the energy to bring it back.
“I DON’T WANT TO PRY, IF YOU’RE UNCOMFORTABLE, BUT… Could This Have Something To Do With Her?”
Sans should’ve said no. Denied it. Told Paps that everything was fine and he was just… just overwhelmed. But he didn’t.
“i… maybe. i…” He exhaled through his phalanges, staring at the bottom of the sink. “i don’t know if i love her, pap. at least… romantically. i’m… i’m trying paps, i’m trying, i should- she deserves to have someone love her. i want to love her.”
Papyrus finishes his thought for him.
“BUT YOU DON’T.”
“... no.”
Sans felt horrible. He felt like he was leading her on. But Sans really thought that he loved her. He did! He cared for her!
… But not in the way she wanted.
And Sans didn’t want to pretend anymore.
“What did it? Did… did you find another person??”
“no. it’s nothing like that.”
“Then what changed?!”
She was shouting. Sans didn’t like the shouting. She never took kindly to him giving anyone- anything else attention. Sans tried to fix it, at first. He thought he was the problem until he got the messages asking him where he was, why he was so absent.
“nothing has, it was just a lot of little things. i’m sorry. i don’t love you in that way.”
“... How could you say something so horrible!?”
It was a good thing they hadn’t moved in together. She had insisted on moving, and that was one thing Sans could put his foot down about. He has a couple of old shirts and pants at her place from the nights he’s stayed, but nothing he’ll miss much. Lots of them were clothes she approved. It smelled like perfume. Even when he thought he was in love with her he thought moving together then was too fast.
She blocked him. Cut him out. Told her friends how Sans didn’t try hard enough when she put in the effort. Sans was never a crier- but he was in tears, hiding in his room. He would talk about it with Papyrus, but right then, he didn’t want anyone to hear. He wanted to throw his phone, he wanted to scream at her. He loved her! Maybe- maybe he never wanted to date her, maybe, if they hadn’t they’d still be friends but she always just… took too much.
It was nice when Papyrus chose to cut her off, to show support for him. It was ironic, even though Sans was the one she always chased, she always seemed to be on good terms with Papyrus. Even would ask him to put in a word for her after their arguments.
Sans was fine now. No- more than fine. Sans was happy. His time with her being a mere bump during his time on the surface.
Then, not too long after, he met you.
He never realized what was missing until he met you. You gave him space, and you never asked him to change for you. You… you liked who he was, you liked Sans.
After her Sans was afraid to attach so fast but… he really, really wanted to keep you in his life. He might even like you, more than a friend would. But he wasn’t ready to start another storm in his life.
As he looked into your eyes, he felt his soul sink. He wasn’t ready for it to end.
“... i… i’m sorry,” Why was the air so hot? “i… i… hhh,”
“Huh?”
It was a little hard to breathe. Which should be impossible. He’s a skeleton… air… air literally moves through his ribcage. He isn’t… uh… what’s happening?
You were frowning. Oh no. Were you upset?
“S-Sans? Are you ok?”
Sans was gripping the couch too tightly, phalanges digging into the couch cushions, close to ripping them. Beads of sweat were rolling down his skull. He suddenly felt pathetic… panicking over you.
“Sans?”
His eyelights darted back to you, bringing him back to the present. You looked so confused… he felt so guilty.
no… i can’t do it again.
“i… sorry. i don’t… mean to panic in front of you but… are you upset?”
“About what? I’m… Sans, you’re not making a lot of sense.”
He presses a hand to his face, then takes a deep breath. His mind was in a frizzle and he had to explain to you now before he goes crazy.
“sorry, my mind is a mess right now. i… i don’t want to make you sad. but i don’t know if i’m ready for a relationship right now. and it isn’t you, it’s… it’s me. i don’t want to take away your hope or anything but… i don’t know if i’ll ever be ready for a romantic relationship.”
You blinked at him.
“Oh,”
 Sans tensed. Expecting you to explode, or cry, or yell at him, run out the house, hate him, oh god he ruined everything-
“Sans, that’s… ok?”
“...”
what?
“w… what do you mean?”
You’re confused. Sans was too. You shift your eyes left and right.
“I mean… that’s ok. I just didn’t want to make you upset is all, and w… why are you looking at me like that?”
Was he dreaming? His eyelight flashed yellow, as if he could find something. He scanned your face, your eyes, your nose- looking for a shudder, a twitch, even a pulse out of place.
Your face was neutral. Was it just hard to read you?
“you know, you can tell me if you’re upset.” Sans was telling the truth. “i can take it. i’d rather you tell me straight to my face if you are. i… i don’t want to lose you.”
You look startled at his sudden pleading, before giving him a pitiful smile. You put your hands on his shoulders.
“Sans? Can you look at me?” You asked in a soft voice.
It was difficult to look up. He knows you, you’re not the type to yell at him or to curse him for little things. He’d trust his judgment but he’s been mistaken before. Nonetheless, slowly, he tilts his skull up to you. When he does, he sees the determination in your eyes, a fierce yet gentle look.
“Sans. Believe me, I’m ok. You’re not going to lose me if you tell me no. Ok?”
“m… mhm,”
Your serious expression melts a little when you start snickering. “Sans, I… I didn’t even get to finish my sentence. I was about to tell you that I’ll understand if you don’t wanna do a whole romance with me, I’ll be fine! I think it’d be great, and I stand by saying I like you a lot. But, I also like where we are right now, and staying like this is pretty nice too. Just being with you is fun, and whether you’re my friend or my boyfriend, that’s not going to change. So… if you’re ok with staying friends after my confession, I think I’d like that.”
The static of panic started to fade away, and a feeling of calm washed over him. The relief was so potent that Sans could feel his sockets start to sting.
h… heh… i was worrying for nothing.
“yes. god, i’d like that too,” Sans wobbles, phalange wiping his socket. “i was scared that if… if i said no you’d hate me.”
“Pfft,” you snort, before you quickly covered your mouth. “Sorry that wasn’t, I’m not laughing at you. I just want to know what made you think that?”
You bump him gently on the shoulder with your fist. “I thought you knew me!”
Sans snickers, a bit more giggly than usual. “i do! i just have doubts when it comes to romance nowadays,” He sighed. “so… you’re really ok with being friends?”
“Yeah! What’s so bad about being friends anyway? As long as you’re not weirded out by me, if I still get to see you, I count that as a win.”
Sans thought the same thing. He smiled.
“yeah… you’re right.”
It was definitely a win having you in his life.
You go oof! When all of a sudden Sans tugs you into a hug, squeezing you tightly.
“i’m… i’m glad i met you.”
You take him in for a moment, before wrapping your arms around him. You squeeze him back.
“Me too.”

𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝐈; the beginning of the end.
Tumblr media
The break of dawn hits suddenly, encouraging its glossy skies to emit a soft and drifting crowd of crisp-white clouds. Open grounds of land and naked trees became covered in the basking glow of sunlight. Glistening against the green fields were freshly blossomed lilies and hanging off branches like bats were plums — a sparkling glow creates an illusion of jaw-dropping colors. South of the walls, acres of land stay true to farming and agriculture: thus, every meadow insight remains buried beneath a thickened layer of light specks. Truly generates this beautiful springtime effect.
     According to the districts, the holidays this season are expected to be greeted with thunderstorms and heavy rain. These affirmations were confirmed by the newspaper today. Thankfully, all military regiments were released from duty a week prior.
     Sitting at the bedroom windows' open ledge, you gazed out the window and admired the scene; with a big warm blanket draped across the shoulders, carrying a nice warm cup of self-made tea. Not a single sound could be heard throughout the entire house. Expect for a short ticking coming from an antique stopwatch. It's been like this for several years now. The entirety of your morning is spent independently while your husband attends his physical therapy sessions.
     Of course, this isn't by choice — the fall of the outermost gate devastated the mainland, allowing titans to be unleashed on humanity. Death followed soon after and everyone you've ever cared about was lost. That day, a part of you died along with them. Not long after, you joined the scout regiment in hopes of obtaining peace, and in a short duration of time, it had been achieved.
     So many lives had been lost in the process: commanders, squad leaders, comrades, civilians, and children all suffered to achieve tranquility. However, though it was unknown at the time, Eren Jeager freed everyone from the cursed shackles of your ancestors, and 'till this day he is forever known as the boy who sought freedom. Losing him destroyed the lone survivors of the one-hundred and forth cadet corp. To be honest, his sacrifice mentally scarred you up too.
      This is why you sit in the library of your family's estate every day, alone. Coddling the distance memories of the past.
     Remembrance isn't always spent by yourself though.
     One thing you're so internally grateful to have is a long life with the man you have loved dearly for years. Humanities strongest soldier: Levi Ackerman, veteran and retired captain of the special operation force squad. Though many things have changed, his title will always remain the same regardless.
Anywho, this man has been by your side since the early years of war. Being a high ranked commanding officer had some benefits: such as, meeting him and everyone else. However, it also had some faults: such as, dealing with the intense trauma and pain of losing life-long friends to death. For years, the nightmares devoured you whole and drafted a dark blanket over the top of your head. Extreme pain and horrifying loss drowned every last bit of happiness from your very existence.
These difficulties made it almost impossible for you to truly lead a team. But, the dedicated captain never failed to reach out and carry you to a light. It's a funny thing to think about these days because the table has turned greatly. The strain of battle has left your husband scarred and damaged as he struggles to walk to his full potential. Physical therapy has been a lifesaver for that though, since he manages to use a cane with ease now.
Just as he crosses your mind, the front door opens suddenly and shuffling feet could be heard entering the living room.
"[your name], we're home," the masculine voice of a matured Falco calls from the bottom of the stairway — he seemed overly chipper today.
And before anyone asks: yes, both children of the warrior program back in Marley have been formally adopted by Levi and yourself. Neither of them had a home or family to go back too.
"Coming down," you responded with a smile, picking the mug up by the handle before traveling downstairs to the living area.
The first sight you saw after turning the corner was your adorable husband, sitting in his wheelchair looking undeniably bored with life. In fact, the male looked insanely exhausted. His fair skin held little to no scratches, the luscious black tresses shined against the light, his onyx orbs held no emotion whatsoever. Despite the obvious, his form sat relaxed — short, pudgy around the waist and cheeks, and attentive. His clothing clean, not a single speck of dirt in sight. Thanks to you of course.
     In other words, he looked incredibly stunning to you.
     Grabbing the black kettle sitting on its electronically table top, you poured a cup of herbal tea into the china.
     "Well," you begin, brining the cup to the man. "How was therapy?"
     Gripping the cup by the rim instead of the handle, he brings it up to his lips for a taste; pausing just before it reaches the tongue, "A waste of time."
     "Would it kill you to be more open to it? They're only trying to help," Gabi exclaimed, her olive skin glowing as she brushed a few fingers through her short brown hair.
"Lecturing me after I've already been lectured, eh? A classic," Levi mutters whilst drinking from his favorite china set.
A short chuckle escapes your lips as you walk over placing a gentle kiss upon the male's plump cheek, "Enough bickering— why don't you all relax while I go and get dinner started?"
"Actually, we'll be taking care of that tonight," Falco quickly responds, walking forth and placing a gentle hand upon your shoulder.
"We will—?" Gabi mutters confused before two different pairs of eyes shoot deadly glares at her. "I mean, that's right— we did agree to cook tonight."
Confused, you glanced between all three of them, "That so? Why?"
"We realized how much you've been working lately and the stress has been wearing you out. So, we thought why not give you a break," Falco explains with a genuine smile, pulling you into a gentle embrace.
"How sweet of you! But—," you begin to protest, insisting that the kitchen is your domain. However, the argument grew invalid as soon as the man of the house spoke his firm thoughts.
     Levi places his cup against the roundness of this thick thighs, "They said they'll handle it, so stop your complaining and spend time with your husband."
     Releasing a sigh of defeat, you allowed the teens to walk into the kitchen and possibly destroy the function of it. It'll be fine, it only cost an arm and a leg to replace the glossy black stove and marble countertop. Not to mention, the tableware and dishes. As they departed, you turned back to your husband and reeled his wheelchair to the couch.
     There, you allowed him to use your shoulders as a balancing placement as he walked to sit upon the comfortable sofa. Once he plopped down, you went to the corner of the room and grabbed his cane; this is in case he wants to start walking around the house on his own accord. Then, you followed his lead and sat beside him with two cups of tea in hand.
     Taking a nice sip, you sighed softly and laid a head against the edge of his shoulder. Unexpectedly, he did the same. Basking against the warmth and comfort of his wife. The curtains had been opened and the sun began to set against the meadows. A land without walls had been so beautiful. Reminded you of the world you wished to see with the friends you've unfortunately lost. They'd love seeing something as amazing as this.
     "I've really let myself go, haven't I?"
     The question is so sudden and whispered, that you'd almost didn't catch it. Turning at lighting speed, you looked at the plush male with interest.
"What are you talking about?" You question firmly, seeing the wiry and self-loathing gleam swirling within his eyes. As expressionless as he may seemed to the outside, nothing can get by the woman he married and everyone knows this. Reading him like a book has become easy for you.
"Look at me; at what I've become," he answers sharply, eyebrows furrowing in anger at the realization of it all. "A fat, disgusting waste of space."
Over the years, the captain has gained some weight. With age and good eating, his metabolism has slowed down causing him to retain fat. Doesn't help he can't really exercise like he used to. Burning it off would be easy if he could. Still, the hatred that swirled like a fiery pit has broken your heart. To think he'd come to hate himself rather than love the body he's been blessed to have is terrifying.
"How can you say that? You're the most influential person in existence when it comes down to the history of our people," you tried to reason with him, ease his mind and heart a little. "Sure, you're not a spring chicken anymore but what'd you expect? I mean, look at me; wrinkles, grey hair, and aching bones. We've all let ourselves go at this point."
      Drawing a hand and placing it upon the crown of your head -- he feathered his fingers through the tresses regardless of the style. Turning you to him and placing his forehead against your own.
     "Is that right?" He responds carefully, adorning you more than anything. "Seems to me that age is doing you good."
      Smiling cutely, you nodded at his words. Getting much closer to his cheeks. This man will be the death of you. Removing himself from holding your head, he places them on the small of your waist. By now, the cups have been placed upon the table.
     "Age is doing you so much better," you reply, placing a kiss against his lips passionately before pulling away to speak again. "It's why I married you. No change in appearance, lifestyle, or personality will ever be enough to make me stop loving you."
     "Tch," his tongue clicks against the gate of his teeth as he glances away embarrassed by affection. "What's gotten in to you?"
     Turning his head back, you place both hands upon his cheeks and lean forth to capture his smooth lips in a well deserved kiss. Both of you closed your eyes feeling blissful. After a moment of passion, you moved away.
“Nothing but my undying love for you,” you respond pridefully.
Though, Levi’s sharp orbs never leave yours, his jaw is clenched, and those buttery cheeks twinged pink in the slightest. Overall, he didn’t look too pleased. However, because it’s you he allows the hopeless romantic tendencies to keep going.
“Spare me of the emotional sentiment,” he requests, kneeling his face into the palm of his hand. Keeping his other arm wrapped around you.
Laughing at his embarrassment, you cuddled against the plush of his sides. A moment of uninterrupted silence arose; the both of you quietly studying the gorgeous form of art. The sun hit the top of the horizon causing an array of colors to collide into a ombré pattern. Somehow, the yellows and oranges became emerged in a pinkish and purple setting. So incredibly unique and unsurprisingly calming to watch. Not a second later, you cleared your throat before finally speaking.
“I don’t know about you but,” you begin, relishing in his embrace. “I don’t ever want this to end. Can I count on you to stay by my side?”
“Toujours,” he responds in his native tongue, too prideful to say it in the language you speak. However, when he recognized the confusion on your face he repeated himself. “Always.”

       Mr. Erich was a slow talker. You could almost understand why Jimin was falling asleep next to you. Almost. Jimin wasn’t someone you really considered a close friend, but then again, you didn’t have many close friends.
      The teacher continued droning on about number theory. You placed your head down on the desk, but your hand continued writing your notes. Staying up late last night wasn’t the best idea, but you needed to write an essay on Anaxagoras, a greek philosopher.
     You hated philosophy. But you loved your mother and your mother had urged you to take a class that didn’t only involve numbers.
     Jimin was snoring peacefully and you glanced over at him. It wasn’t exactly your issue so you looked away and went back to following the lesson. A few minutes later, he jerked awake and groaned audibly.
      A few people in the seats around looked at him quizzically. You shrunk lower in your seat. You didn’t want to attend class, too many people and it made your heart race, but you needed to pass this class and so you, sadly, must attend.
        Many knew Jimin as the son and heir to BigHit, the large business conglomerate that had wealth that made even the 1% drool, but to you he was just that guy who fell asleep in Calculus and cheated off your notes. Objectively, this was annoying. Subjectively…
     You felt him staring out of the corner of your eye. He was looking pointedly at your notes. Subjectively, you didn’t care enough. If he didn’t pay attention in class, that was his problem and you didn’t feel one way or another. At the bottom of your notes, you wrote, Pay attention.
He wrote that down too without a second thought.

   You were busy. You were always busy. In fact, you had an extremely important Algebra assignment to do and you knew you could get it done as long as no one bothered you-
“Oh my god.”
    A man with blonde hair and a light blue beret stood in front of you. In his hands was a tray of spilled over paints; paints that were now on you. You tilted your head.
“Can you move?” You spoke up after a while.
“I’m so sorry!” He seemed unfrozen and hurried after you as you brushed by.
“Uh, can you go away?”
“I know you’re probably really mad! Do you want money or something? I can buy you new clothes or-wait that sounds weird.”
“Clothes?” You glanced down and then realized the state of your wardrobe.
    You were splattered with red, green, and yellow paint. You then glanced at your notebooks, also, helpfully, coated in a thin layer of paint. More importantly, your beautiful TI-84 calculator was ruined.
     You opened your mouth, furiously holding up your calculator, but the man continued rambling on. Annoying. But somewhat entertaining, you supposed.
“You got paint on my-”
“Let me take you out! Somewhere nice? I’ll buy you a coffee!” He tore off some notebook paper and scribbled some numbers down. You paused. What was he doing?
“Besides, it’s not paint, it’s Gouache.” He announced proudly, shoving the paper into your already full arms.
“But that- you still got-”
“Taehyung!” Jimin called from behind you. You turned and the man winced. “Oh, Taehyungie has never been too neat, sorry about him. Anyway, we gotta go, Tae. Yoongi just called and Jungkook set fire to the carpet again.”
“He really needs to change his major to something a little less dangerous.”
“What is this, the third time?”
“I don’t know, but we need to go, Tae-”
“What’s his major?” You questioned.
“Philosophy.” They both said in unison.
“Anyway gotta go!” Taehyung grabbed Jimin’s hand and started speed walking away.
“You got paint on my calcu-”
“Later!” Jimin shouted over his shoulder, his eyes lingered on you for a moment.
    Did you have something on your face? You swiped at your cheek and he grinned, turning back around and following Taehyung.
    Once they were out of sight, you juggled your notebooks around until you could successfully pick up the paper. 278-367-5433 ;). You scoffed at the numbers, something you did often, and crumpled it up.
“Art majors. What a waste of trees” You muttered and trudged back to your dorm.
Tumblr media
 “I’m so stuck on this problem, Y/N, you’ve gotta help me.”
“Why?”
“Because you’re my friend?”
“I’m not your friend, Jimin.” You moved the phone to your other shoulder and continued working.
“But-”
“Bye.”
      You hung up and groaned, massaging your temple. Your room could be seen as lonely. Plain white paint sat on dull gray walls. There wasn’t a speck of trash or clothing littered on the floor. You lived an orderly life. Tidy. Your eyes strayed to your hamper.
      Your clothes from earlier were spilling out of the top. A splash of color on a black and white canvas. You scrunched your nose and looked away in disgust. You had never understood the point of art. What did anyone ever see in it? It was meaningless. You looked back to your notes.
      These numbers meant something. They meant the height of a ladder leaning against a building, the measurements of a bridge, and where Mary Jane would end up in 400 minutes if she’s going five miles an hour on a circular road. It was pretty deep.
      You looked at your watch. Then you moved your attention to the window. Your dorm overlooked the sprawling center of campus. The place was a concrete playground, but with the extensive arts program, it was always covered in colorful murals and art pieces.
       You didn’t have a roommate and you liked it that way. You had always preferred to be alone. Others called you anti-social, but, to put it another way, if there was an apocalypse and it was just you and another person alive in the entire world, you would probably leave them for dead. Life was simpler alone.
       Besides, you wouldn’t have to deal with people chastising you about not picking up on “social cues” or whatever the hell those were. How were you supposed to know that when someone leans in real close, they want to kiss you? It seemed quite arbitrary in your mind.
      Your phone was buzzing again.
“What do you want?”
“Please Y/N! This. Is. Really. Hard.”
“Jimin, figure it out. How are you going to pass midterms if you can’t understand algebra?”
“Ouch.”
“I mean that in the most sincere way.” You relented.
“You’re so mean, Y/N.”
   Your eyebrows rose. That certainly wasn’t the first time you’d heard those words.
“I’m honest. You could go ask the teacher or something.”
“He told me to ask you.”
“That doesn’t sound right.”
You heard him let out a dry laugh on the other side and rustling of sheets.
“You’re really good at math, Y/N.”
“I hate number theory.” You objected.
“But that doesn’t mean you’re not good at it!”
“Shut up. I’m going to hang up now.”
“Wait no-”
Beep.
     People were annoying. That’s what you had decided. You weren’t trying to stick out like a sore thumb, but getting in the flow of other people and understanding all the shit they wanted you to understand was hard.
     You put your pencil back down onto the page and continued writing. You reached for your calculator, groaning when you realized the paint had covered the display.
“Great. Just great.”
      You set the calculator aside, feeling a little sentimental. After all, you’d had that thing since seventh grade. Your phone buzzed again. Jimin jesus chr-
“Yes?” You picked up.
“What is this So ka toe ah everyone is telling me about.”
“How did you pass trig without sohcahtoa?”
“Tell me!”
“Ask Taehyung.”
“Taehyung is an art major and hasn’t had to be proficient in math since the fifth grade!”
“Sin, cosine, tan. Bye.”
Beep.
     You massaged the crease between your eyebrows and your attention got caught by the darkened campus. The gross fluorescent campus lights lit up the concrete. Freshmen were running wild, happy with their newfound freedom, and seniors were leaving for clubs or parties. The lights in the dorm buildings across campus began turning on one by one.
     You searched your pockets for the crumpled paper. When you didn’t find any, you made your way to your hamper and dug around the pockets of your paint smothered clothing.
“Aha.” You unfolded the paper and dialed the number. You didn’t feel like talking, but Jimin was driving you up the wall.
“Taehyung, right?” You said as he picked up.
“Yeah? Changed your mind?”
“No. I’m going to make this short and sweet, tell Jimin to stop calling me for math help. Thanks.” You hung up and went back to your work.
     So, technically, you were done with work, but being done with work meant that you were free and if you were free, that meant you had no excuse not to go out. And you needed an excuse to avoid people. You opened up your textbook and frowned at the various graphs and equations. You had already done all of them for fun this summer.
“Hey, Y/N, a bunch of us in the dorm are going out, wanna come?” The hall monitor knocked on your door.
“Aren’t you supposed to be doing your job?” You looked back with a confused expression.
“Charming as ever I see.” She chuckled.
“Come on, Jasmine, Y/N never wants to go out anyway.” Another girl shouted.
“I know! I just wanted to be nice!” Jasmine shouted out, as if you weren’t right there.
“What would be nice is if you left.” You said, your voice monotone and matter of fact.
“Alright then. If you need anything, just text or call.”
“You won’t pick up anyway.” You whispered under your breath, but Jasmine was already gone.
Tumblr media
 “You forgot that this has to be positive, Jimin.” You leaned over him like an overbearing mother.
“But that doesn’t make sense!”
“You’re dividing two negatives. They cancel out.” You explained, a frown twisting onto your face.
       There was a long silence as you watched him scribble down the new numbers. The library was relatively quiet. The giggles of a group in the corner would pierce the peaceful ambience every now and then, but the librarian would always shush them and they’d die down.
     Jimin cleared his throat, pulling your attention back to this study session. You moved across the table and sat at your seat again. You just sat and stared at him. He was intriguing. He made silly mistakes that he should honestly understand for being a junior in college. His eyes flicked up to you three times and back to his paper.
“Well, this is awkward.” He said after a while.
“Is it?” You shrugged and continued staring him in the eye. He shifted awkwardly and looked away.
“Why are you staring at me?” He whispered.
“Oh, do you want me to stop?”
His mouth opened and closed then he looked back at his paper, his ears turning red.
“Are you coming on to me?” He murmured.
“What? No, why would I do that?” You said, disgusted, and returned to your work.
       To be clear, you weren’t disgusted with him, but you were disgusted at the idea that you would come onto him. After all, you were just here for math and Jimin was just here because he needed help studying, obviously. He looked like you had just slapped him. You honestly didn’t see an issue.
“You know, my parents are pretty traditional and they want me to bring a girl home this holiday season. You’re the only girl I’m really close friends with.” He began. You felt his eyes on you and you looked up.
“Uh, alright? That sounds like a problem. Who are you going to take then?”
“You’re really dense, aren’t you?”
“I’m not dense.” You defended. “You need to expand your friend group.”
“I was wondering if you could come along?”
“What?” Your furrowed your eyebrows. “Absolutely not.”
“It wouldn’t be anything romantic, just-”
    A man with mint green hair and a slim build walked past and Jimin’s eyes followed him. You followed his line of sight.
“....We can just go as friends, you know?”
You nodded solemnly. “Just friends, Jimin.”
“You’ll go?”
“Only if you promise me it’s just friends because I really don’t want to have to deal with romance.” You huffed, picking up your pencil and jotting down numbers. “You already have my number, just send me the details.”
“Thank you!”
      The librarian shot him a glare and he lowered his voice.
“You’re a real lifesaver.” He whispered.
“I know.” You narrowed your eyes and then began to pack up your things. “I’ve got a lot of stuff to do. Bye.”
“What, but we just-”
“Yeah I know, but I’m sort of sick of talking to people and I helped you with your work so I’ve got to go work on Philosophy.”
“Philosophy? I didn’t take you as a philosophy person.”
“Me neither.”
Tumblr media
     Aha! You knew you recognized Taehyung from somewhere. You ran your finger over the screen. The list of student names in your philosophy class was displayed.
“Kim Taehyung. [email protected].” You murmured
“Whatcha doing?” Jasmine leaned against your doorway.
“Just...research.” You explained lamely.
“I see.” The hall monitor came inside and sat on your bed. “You never go out, Y/N. I’m worried about you.”
“Okay, and?” You glanced at her as she sat cross legged on the bed. Great. She’s wrinkling the sheets.
“Well, as a friend-”
“We’re not friends.”
“-and hall monitor, I command that you go out this weekend. Do something with your college life. I think you might regret not doing anything fun later on.” She prodded softly.
“This is fun.” You gestured to the scattered math homework pages across the desk.
“Right… well, just keep it in mind.” She stood and moved to your door.
“Jasmine?”
“Yeah?” She paused, turning to look at you. You read over your philosophy work and then your essay.
“You ever think that there are so many people in your life, but no one is really a part of it?”
“You’ve got to stop with the philosophy, Y/N. It feels weird coming from you.” She laughed.
       You didn’t find anything funny in that. She looked awkwardly from you to the door, expecting you to chuckle along, but you remained silent, blinking at her. She shivered and left without another word.
      The second she was gone, you stood abruptly and smoothed out the bed sheets, but as you did that, more wrinkles appeared on the other side. You felt the anxiety pouring out of you and you rushed to smooth down the other side, but more and more wrinkles kept appearing like disgusting bugs that wouldn’t die. You let out a frustrated sigh and tore all the sheets off your bed.
       You took the ruler off your desk and measured out the width and height, then calculated how much extra cloth is needed on both sides for it to be perfectly centered. Then you marked it off and remade the bed. You felt yourself calming as order was restored.
    You thought back to Jasmine’s words. Go out? Absolutely not. Then you looked at the crumpled paper on your desk.
“Fine, Jasmine.” You pursed your lips and dialed the number once more.
“Y-ello?” Taehyung’s voice rumbled through the speaker.
“I want a coffee, but I’d prefer to go somewhere quiet.”
“Straight to the point I see.”
“Polite niceties take up too much time. When are you available?” “Whenever you are, love.”
“Don’t call me that.”
“Alright. Uh…” There was a long pause and you heard rustling in the background. “Sorry just grabbing a piece of paper.”
“Why are you apologizing? There’s nothing to apologize for.” You said quickly, eager to get this conversation over with.
“I’m free this Saturday?”
“Works for me.” You said. You didn’t need to check your calendar to know you had nothing to do.
“Great see you then.” He said stiffly.
“Yup.”
“Uh...bye?”
“Alright.”
Beep.
      Now it was time to overthink the arrangement until Saturday.

*Suggestion!! Listen to Puzzle Piece by NCT Dream to set the mood!! Please listen repeatedly as you read!!*
Heavy clouds concealed the blue sky behind it, letting a coldness run through the city
Thunder rumbled his cries every now and then, stirring you from your sleep
Hyungwon laud beside you as he stared out the window of your bedroom, intrigued as always from the view of the skyline
He remembered how warm and nicely the last light of the day was mixed with the tone of your skin
the image of you was ingrained in his memory forever
no physical picture or view seen on his travels could compare to that sunset with you
Fireworks set off, ablaze in his heart every moment he got to spend with you
it felt so nice when he got to know you, feeling more and more complete the closer the two of you got together
Never hesitated to pull you closer and closer every time you two touch
Your shared room was as simple still as the day the two of you moved into this apartment
Walking through the door, the first thing you saw was the queen-sized bed with the white sheet, blankets, and pillows, matching the walls
The light brown wood headboard was the first contrast you saw
To the left of the doorway in the corner was the bathroom with a sink, shower, and separate bathtub which sealed the deal for you when Hyungwon and you were apartment hunting
Then another door in the bathroom led to the closet
To the right from the door was the window, stretching from the floor to ceiling, with the glass sliding door that led to the balcony
The two of you shared wine, taking in the view of the city and each other, letting the moment go by slowly, imprinting in both of your minds and bodies
To the right against the wall was the bookshelf, filled with some books but also pictures and decorations the two of you picked out
The night he gave you a promise ring, promising to never leave your side no matter what as the two of you stood under a cherry blossom tree that had string lights hanging from the branches
A special little part of the city, a place he deemed to be your special place with him
He confessed his feelings for you there, gave you the ring, and there was so much more he dreamed to give and say and do with you there
It became a routine where you wiped the dust and cleaned the picture frames every couple of weeks whenever you cleaned the apartment
The rain outside seemed to grow heavier and heavier as the day began
You sleepily hugged his pillow close to your chest whenever you slept now
You reached over, looking at the time, letting happiness and relief wash over you as a smile crept onto your face
You had a day off, and it was perfect since you dreaded the days you had to go into the city while Mother Nature cried her eyes out
To start the day, you headed into the dim bathroom which was usually filled with the bright light of the morning through the skylight
You stretched as you started the day, using the bathroom and then beginning your routine
First, you brushed your teeth as you played simple music, songs that were upbeat, but not overbearingly in your face
Then you washed your face and brushed through your hair
He loved seeing how you did things, so organized and just so you every day
He stood in the doorway and took you in
Your hair had gotten longer and maybe you got even a little taller, but he still stood a whole head above you
One of the smaller things he loved about you endlessly: how easy it was for him to just press kisses to the top of your head whenever, wherever
How if you wanted to kiss him, though, you would have to go on your tippy-toes, making his heart do flips in his chest
He loved teasing you when it came to kisses, but of course, he never teased too long
He couldn’t resist your eyes, how it made him feel like you could touch his soul and heal him from the inside out whenever you looked into his eyes
The way you pouted your lips when things didn’t go your way too much, puffing up your cheeks
He walked down the hall from the bedroom and stretched his long body over the couch
He turned, hugging the pillows and letting the smell of you intoxicate him
Happiness welled up within him since you got to take a day off
It had been a while since you got to just relax and enjoy yourself, which also gave him the opportunity to see you
Both of your schedules were hectic, never giving any time for you to enjoy yourself in the comfort of your home and in the comfort of silence
He stayed on the couch as you went on with your day, following you around, making sure you ate well
He remembered the night when work had become too much to bear
He pulled you from your seat despite your tired protests and changed your computer window
Soft instrumental music played as he turned off the bright lights and let the small light over the sink shine
He swayed gently to the music, holding your face in his hands as he looked into your strained eyes
“You need to breathe,” he said as soft as the music
You sighed as you held his hands under yours, kissing his wrist
He brought your head to his lips, pressing soft kisses to your head and temples, down to your lips
You melted against him as you clenched the bottom of his shirt with your hands
He pulled from the kiss and gave you a little smile
He wrapped his arms around your head and shoulders while you wrapped yours around his waist
The two of you swayed to the music playing quietly from your laptop
He knew how much you hated stressful circumstances especially since you weren’t the best with them
If he could, he would blow all the stress out of your life, letting you live peacefully
He hummed softly to the music, letting his body move on its own against yours in the dark night, forgetting the world beyond the walls of the apartment
In his mind, the two of you were the only ones in his world and he wouldn’t ask for anyone more
He wished for more nights like that, helping you melt your stress away until they are long forgotten
Staying up with you brewing coffee and tea, anything you wanted and needed
But sleep was a precious thing, especially now that your work started a little bit earlier
Any moment with you was precious and he loved every single one
But his favorites were when the two of you could just take each other in during the quietest moments
Moments like today
You played music from your phone throughout the house as you cleaned, tidying the bedroom, bathroom and finally worked your way towards the kitchen and finally the living room
He hung out on the bed, following you, making sure to stay out of your way as much as he could, then flopped onto the brown leather couch as soon as you finished the bedroom
“You should be relaxing,” he called as he laid on the couch, watching you work your way down the fall as you vacuumed and wiped the picture frames hung up on the wall
You heard nothing but the music, smiling at all the pictures of the two of you from past dates
He didn’t speak again, only to shake his head smiling at you smiling at the picture
At least you were enjoying your chores
Although he did bicker with you before about sharing it more equally, you insisted on the cleaning portion of living together since you had seen the way he lived in college
It wasn’t the best, but it was enough for it to be not to your liking
you stared at the picture the two of you had most likely got printed, smiling thinking back to that night about more than a year ago
Hyungwon led you throughout the city, holding your hand, swinging it lightly as the two of you walked through your special place, going through the stores one by one, eating to your heart's content
“Did you like today?” Hyungwon asked as he steered with one hand on the wheel while the other held your hand
traffic wasn’t too bad surprisingly, but even if it was, every minute was precious
“Best birthday, ever!” You brought his hand up and kissed the back of it repeatedly before he pulled yours over to his lips as he drove carefully, returning the sweetness on the back of yours
“But you really didn’t have to buy all that stuff,” you said as you felt guilty, glancing back at the bags of stuff Hyungwon had insisted on buying you
no matter what you saw or touched or even had a speck on interest in, he tossed it into the cart or basket or held on to it
“it’s your special day, and it’s to show my thankfulness, especially to your parents,” he smiled, content with what he did
“For what?”
“For bringing you into the world and for you for changing mine,” he said as he approached a red light
“Every day I get to spend with you and learning and seeing all the small things you do just make me want to spend the rest of my life with you, Y/N,” he meant everything, infusing every word with the love he felt for you indefinitely
“All the visions I see of the future, I see you beside me.” He cupped your face with his hand and rubbed his thumb over your cheek
In all your time with Hyungwon, you had heard him tell you he loved you but it was your first time hearing such an endearing confession from him
it took a lot for him to say these types of things
your lip began to quiver and tears rolled down your cheeks faster than you could contain them
“Ah, don’t cry,” he began to laugh at you before he plucked some issues from his door, handing to you as he proceeded to drive towards the apartment
“what do you mean ‘don’t cry?’“ you sobbed tears of joy. “You just said words I never thought I would hear from someone I loved just as much,” you whined
You leaned against the seat as he continued and focused on driving, tearing up every now and then as his words rang through your head
The two of you carried your bags up, standing close as always up the elevator
You couldn’t wait to just get home and relax, spending the night with him
You unlocked and opened the door since Hyungwon’s hands were too full, but what was strange was the darkness in the apartment
usually, the lamp in the living room was on a timer to go off around the sun would set or when it usually got dark out
When you turned on the light, you were met with close friend slopping out of everywhere, tossing confetti
“SURPRISE!” they all yelled, startling you
Just as the waterworks came to an end in the car ride, they reappeared once again seeing all your friends, even some of Hyungwon’s you had gotten fairly close to
The night was young and went on with laughter and joy, many hugs and a couple drinks
Kihyun had snapped the picture of the two of you together, which became framed to this day, hung in the hallway
As the day winded down and the sky grew darker and darker, the rain steadily came to a light drizzle
he sat closely beside you on the couch with his arm wrapped around you as you leaned against him and some pillows
you dressed comfortably with the blanket wrapped nicely around your legs
He held you close, wishing you could feel how much he loved you, loving everything about you down to the small things and habits he found strange like how you pat your belly twice after every meal for no particular reason
you began to flip through the memories of the scrapbook you had put together a couple months after your surprise party realizing you needed something to look back on
and here it was
Smiles grew on the two of your faces as you flipped through the album in your lap
You paused at the picture of the two of you who visited a family friend who had puppies
“You wanted to steal them home so badly,” he laughed lightly, reminiscing on that day
you whined and gave puppy eyes to Hyungwon so badly, but it wouldn't work out and he sadly had to turn you down
your schedules were too hectic and the apartment didn’t permit pets
“Cutie,” you tapped the nose of the puppy in the picture before moving on
you flipped on, thinking back to all the days the pictures were taken, feeling as if they were all yesterday
everything was so fresh in your mind, but nothing was fresher than the last picture in the album
you slid the polaroid out of the album, looking back to the fateful day
The last picture you would ever take of him
the doctor had told you about everything he kept to himself
how his heart began to fail, the nights where he locked himself away from the bathroom, not letting you worry or even know about what he was going through on his own
the calls to his doctor in the middle of nights, as quietly as he could
keeping the smile on his face to see yours, knowing you would ease his pain more than any treatment could
it felt like as if your life was spinning, faster and faster
he laid in his hospital gown as handsome as ever, but the mask on your face or even at this moment now couldn’t hide the tears falling from your eyes
you sat beside him as close as you could, not believing anything even though he sat right in front of you
your hands now cold as you took in his eyes, not a tear in sight
Even as death loomed near him, he never once shed a tear in his last moments with you, giving you a smile as taken on a polaroid with his final words on the back
“I’ll always be with you, whenever, wherever, Y/N.”
You held the picture closer in your hands as you trembled, holding in your sobs in the best you could until it was no use
the last thing as his vision faded was you, and he was content
as his vitals began to drop, the ekg monitor let out the bone chilling beep as his heart rate flatlined
“I wish you knew how I was still here with you,” he petted your head, wishing with everything he could that you could feel his touch as he was always so close to you, watching over you
“I wish you knew how you were my one dream that came true,” he kissed the top of your head knowing you felt and heard nothing he did all day or ever
~~~~~
Thank you for reading! Masterlist for more!  As always, let me know what you think in the comments!  @mazey-chan do you feel threatened now 😂😈
stranded soulmates au
bang chan x reader w/ocd imagine
genre: soft
“hold on, ill call the nearest mechanic shop to come pick you up” the lady replied urgently on the phone
“what will be the estimated time arrival?” i asked
“say, 30 minutes”
my wrecked car door gave out a cry after i kicked it in angst, “you dumbfuck!! why can’t you just work for once?!” the stars started to fill the sky, the sun escaping to meet another world something i wish i could do everyday. escape to another world.
i looked down at my shoes to find a speck of dirt on my heel, grabbing a wipe from my purse to make it squeaky-clean again.
cleaning has always been my favorite thing to do. even from a young age mothers praised mine because how clean my babyass was and god i was a happy toddler bouncing around like no other, not caught up in life’s worries.
but now i had to deal with a shitty car. i was halfway through my road trip on this stranded road. both north and south there was no building nearby.
i simply had to wait till someone came and the closest car shop seemed to be 30 minutes away.
i collapsed onto my car seat allowing my eyes to shut in the midst of my nervous breaths before i could be awaken by a mysterious yet.. pretty stranger.
the boy knocked on my car door several times eventually waking me up from my quick yet peaceful nap, “w-what is it” i let out in a hazy tone
“are you y/n? you requested a mechanic visit?”
i looked outside my car window to see a blonde boy with glazing eyes wearing a black muscle tank that revealed his toned arms and hid a perfectly amazing god-made six pack that every girl dies for
“that’s me” i said getting out of the car
the boy reached out for my hand and grabbed it, enclosing our grip with his other hand
“nice to meet you” he said anxiously, shaking our grip up-and-down, “my name is bang chan”
his gaze was beautiful, honestly i could spend all day shaking hands with him like this. the way the words left his lips was almost calming as I looked down to see the unfamiliar sight of “meeting” someone.
i watched as his oil stained hands wrapped themselves around mine, the dry oil grease rubbing themselves against my fingers
“EEEK—!!” i screeched trying to wriggle my hands out of his grip
chan stepped back in arousement, “oh my god, im so sorry!d-did i do something wrong?”
the boy nervously brought a hand up to scratch the crook of his neck, looking down in embarrassment
o-o-oh my god. i thought to myself. it’s over where the fuck are my wipes?!
i looked around my purse finally finding a bag of tissues and cleaned off my fingers in disgust. god, the guy could’ve asked before shaking my hand.
i looked at my dirty fingers with a pout before the boy could say something, “im so sorry, i freaked out. im not so used to meeting people and i-“
“it’s fine, i just... im kinda like an ocd freak i suppose? not so used to meeting people either” chan laughed it off,
“i completely get that y/n. how about we get this bad boy to my shop?” he asked gesturing at my car
“sure sure, but do i need to bring extra wipes. i-is your seat cleaned?”
at the shop you got out of the car to see a small home and a open garage filled with one or two cars. you watched the stranded road, there were no building anywhere, nothing to be seen.
a yawn escaped my mouth and i looked up to see the full moon, yet the land so empty. at least the moon lived with the stars, how does he live alone in the middle of nowhere?
“so you just live out here?” i asked
chan peeked our for underneath my car, the veins on his arms popping due to the extra effort to reply back
“yeah, not exactly ideal for a city girl huh?”
i shrugged my shoulders, “not much of a city girl” i let out a laugh, god how could i ever live out in the city? there’s germs everywhere, disease everywhere.
“oh really?” he replied on curiousity, getting up on both legs to check out the car he had been working on for an hour
he stared at the car cocking his head to the side with both hands on his waist, his facial expression giving off a “what the hell is wrong with this” look
“did you ever like.. kick the car or something?”
i thought back to when i kicked the car, enraged at its shutdown for the third time in my trip “possibly... why?”
“it’s done mate, the car is waste at this point. maybe you should call someone to pick you up”
i looked down at the floor, honestly speaking i don’t think i had anyone to call. it was almost 11 pm, and the nearest friend was probably 5 hours away.
“it’s a little bit late for that” i replied with a soft smile, “do you have a spare room or anything? i promise ill pay for the hospitality”
“uhhh..” chan gestured towards his small house and allowed me in. it was a one room house with a small kitchen and one bed. there was one desk with a small computer but other than that the space was empty.
“i-i don’t really have much here. you could sleep on the bed if you’d like to, it’s pretty clean” he chuckled
“and you?” i asked sympathetically
“oh don’t worry about me! ill sleep in my car or something” my eyes widened as the words escaped his mouth, was humankind actually nice enough to do that?
“no.. no that’s fine. we can share if you’d like” i offered with a gentle voice
“uhh sure” he replied. i laid down my purse next to his nightstand and placed myself underneath the covers. without a word i forced myself to shut my eyes, hearing the floor creek from chan’s steps and trying to identify his movements.
i heard a creek come from his bathroom door and peeled my eyes a little to see bang chan himself shirtless in all his australian glory. he washes up well, i thought to myself
i closed my eyes immediately after i noticed chan making eye contact with me, “y/n— are you awake”
i opened my eyes softly to see chan a few steps closer to me
“is it fine if i sleep on the other side?” he wrapped the drenched towel around his neck causing his wet tee to clinge onto his skin and outline the perfect lines of his muscular upper-body
“um” i choked, “sure”
closing my eyes i felt his figure lay down next to me and turned my back against him. he wigglesd his body around the left side of the bed making himself comfortable.
i could only imagine the lack of conversation, was this how being in bed with a man was like? it felt weird, lacking something i couldn’t quite pinpoint
“chan” i whispered, laying on my back next to him
“yeah?” he replied back, the both of us staring at the empty ceiling
“is this what you do everyday? here alone?” i asked out of curiosity
he let out an embarrased laugh, as if he wasn’t proud of where he was “yeah i guess. honestly if it was anyone else i wouldn’t let them sleep in my bed like this. im not much of a people person, but i can tell you’re like that too”
“tell me about it” i chuckled, “i can’t even shake hands with a guy without having an internal panic attack thinking they’re gonna give me the flu or something”
he rolled over to face me and poked the side of my arm. i flinched at his sudden contact but felt somewhat calm, “did i just give you the flu?” he asked
i laughed at his attempted, “nice try, but you didn’t”
he smiled, a cute little nose scrunch following after. god why was his laugh so adorable?
he wrapped a hand around my shoulder inching a little closer to me, “your laugh is so pretty” he whispered into my ear
his voice tickled down my whole body, leaving a quick feeling of excitement. “did i give you the flu or—?”
i stayed there in his bed, comfortable with both hands on my hands. my instinct told me to reply to his question with something sensual and make a move, but my mind told me i was sensual is wrong, sensual is dirty.
i was conflicted between my gut and what felt like reality
i took down a deep gulp when his hand found itself on my chin. he placed his lips on mine, my heart skipping beats as he continuously pressed his body against mine.
this feeling of being with someone, of being loved i simply couldn’t pull myself away from. my gut convinced my mind somehow, telling myself he just took a shower and reminded myself of how clean he looked earlier
he pulled himself away from the kiss, a soft moan leaving my lips in disappointment
“did i give you the flu yet?” he asked, a smirk arising from his lips
“i think you just cured me.”
Falling in love with: sunshine
Tumblr media
Part of the “Falling in love with” vignette series. In which Reader falls in love with BTS members through different things.
Pairing: Taehyung/reader
Words: 1240
Genre: Comfort/fluff
Warnings/notes: Mentions of feelings of loneliness, it's not really angst but if that bothers you don't read./ This was intended to be pure fluff but my angsty soul just kinda poured into it and made a mess.
____________________________________________
For a long time sunshine meant loneliness.
Sunset rays peeking through pristine white curtains as you looked on to the street. Legs close to your chest as your heart prayed to the fading sky for the golden hour to be over. Daylight upsetted you.
Because you were never more alone than you were during daylight hours. You would wait not so patiently by the window. Jumping from sofa to sofa from time to time, amusing yourself with a game of the floor is lava! Counting the tiles on the floor, making up ridiculous stories inside your head, all of this to forget for a moment the deafining silence of your home. The expectant pause that clung to your lungs, subtle anxiety, for the hour your mom would finally arrive home from work.
You were a good girl and did your homework and bathed in time. Anything to see a smile spread in your mother's weary features when she came back. If she was in a good enough mood the both of you would bake something delicious together and watch some tv after. Happiness was the content peacefulness of chilly nights cuddling your mom, the distant humming of crickets, the soft glow of the tv screen on your face. Not angry, annoying, hot rays of sunlight.
You hated yellow for a long time and judged harshly anyone who told you it was their favourite color. What a bright, annoying color, you thought dismissively.
And so it was a hot August day, when a grinning boy dressed in yellow from head to toe knocked on your door.
"Hello? " He rapped three times. "Is anyone there?"
Your heart leapt to your throat. You were startled awake from where you had been dozing off on the sofa. Your eyes fluttered open in confusion as your brain ran through possible scenarios of kidnapping. Who was out there?
The rapping continued a couple more times.
"Hellooo... anybody?" A boy's voice rung clear through the window.
You tried to ignore the thrill of excitement as your eyes peeked through the curtains and identified the figure of a young boy standing on your porch. He looked around 9 years old like you, and so your curiosity intensified.
You watched his chest rise and fall as he turned on his heels to return from wherever he had come from.
"W-wait!"
His head turned towards the source of the sound, his eyes wide in surprise. The boy squinted for a couple of seconds, struggling to identify your figure behind the curtains as you only peeked your eyes and nose. You pushed away the curtains as he inched closer and watched in silent delight as his face lit up like fireworks at the confirmation that yes, you were behind the curtains the whole time.
His demeanor changed in a second from contained curiosity to enthusiastic puppy as he waved a hand at you and flashed a boxy grin.
"Hi, nice to meet you! My name's Taehyung. I'm your new neighbour, do you want to come out and play?"
You weren't quite sure if it was all the yellow he was wearing, the glare of the sun, or the bright grin on his face, but the sight was an eyesore for sure.
"Umm... I don't know if that's a good idea " you frowned ", it's really hot outside."
"Aww, come on! You can come to my place and play inside if you want. " He insisted, boxy smile still in place.
"I don't think so, I don't know you." You hid again, behind the curtains.
"That's why I'm here for!" He shrugged, a chuckle leaving his lips.
And that was the beginning of the both of you. You could forget about loneliness when he was by your side. He burned through your icy exterior with the warmth of a thousand suns.
Everything about him was bright and warm, from the curve of his smile to his hand enveloping yours. And then both of you were teens when...
"What is your favorite flower?" He had asked one day. You were enjoying some popsicles on your porch.
"I don't know... " You hummed in contemplation. His big eyes focused on you as he sucked on his strawberry lemonade popsicle.
"Come on, tell me!" Taehyung whined, clinging to your arm. You swatted him away giggling.
"I don't think I have a preference Tae. All flowers are pretty, I think." You shrugged dismissively, licking your watermelon icy treat.
"Right... " He squinted, not quite buying it. "Anyways wait for me here. I'll be back in a sec." He yelled running off into his house.
"Sure." You answered, though you knew he hadn't heard you. He had already disappeared inside the wooden house, probably to pee.
That left you alone to your own devices, dealing with the unsettling peace and quiet of the neighboorhood. Your popsicle was melting and its sticky sweet substance stained your fingers. You couldn't come to care as you stared into the setting sun before you. The way soft pinks, oranges and yellows merged together in the sky made your heart clench uncomfortably.
Taehyung's friendship was like a bandaid carefully put over a gaping wound of loneliness. Even now, years away from that afternoon when the sunchild had been introduced into your life, there was something about the sunset that unsettled you. Something sad. You never wanted to be alone again at sunset. You never wanted things to go back as they were before you met Taehyung. It was scary.
You felt Taehyung sneak behind you and then the lights went off.
"Wha— Taehyung what are you doing?"
"Ta-da!" Taehyung dropped his hand from your line of vision and you were surprised to find a bouquet of flowers on your lap.
"And these?" You pointed at the yellow bouquet of sunflowers.
"For you!" He smiled, and your insides turned and fluttered uncomfortably at the sight. He was so bright, brighter than the sun itself.
"But it's not my birthday?"
"My mom and I went to my Grandma's farm yesterday and her neighboor had lots of these! She gave us some, said someone special should enjoy them." He averted his gaze to the wooden floor, blushing, a soft smile on his features. Your heart bursted and leapt in your ribcage.
"Well, thank you, this is so sweet." You smiled, blushing.
"I'm glad you liked them. They remind me of you." He confessed, his big brown eyes soft and warm.
"Of me? But I don't like yellow, remember?" You raised a brow.
"You say that, but I always catch you staring at yellow things: the sunset, flowers... me." Taehyung smirked, raising his eyebrows in an annoying oh-so-confidently and matter-of-factly manner that you had no choice but to outright deny it (even if it was true).
"You wish!" You bursted blushing furiously as you sprung up from your place, bouquet held tightly in hand. Taehyung simply chuckled at you, his eyes forming crescent moons and his mouth curving into his adorable boxy smile.
"No but for real Y/N, let's always be together yeah? Forever." He pleaded, making an adorable puppy face. And you couldn't help but stare as you noticed how the remaining rays of sunlight complimented his chocolate eyes, lighted specks of molten gold in them. It made an unknown feeling spread across your chest as your heartbeat speeded to a frenzy. You basked in the sensation, feeling as though liquid sunlight filled you to the brim with warmth.
"Promise?" You extended your pinky.
"Promise." He intertwined your fingers.
Our Inner Apocalypse - Chap. 1
Pairing: Namjoon x Reader (BTS)
Genre: Angst/(soon also) Smut
Word Count: 2,5k
Warnings: Apocalypse!AU and all it includes, Gang!AU and all it includes, Violence.
Tumblr media
You roamed the wasteland, accompanied by your trusty backpack in which you carried all the items you needed. Your knife, ammunition, a flask of water, a flask of tequila you grabbed on the road, and of course, a spare gun. In the world in which you lived these items were required.
·Flashback ·
News Moderator:"The last remaining president has fallen, and with that the last chance for a civilized world.  The First Lady will hold a speech now."
The TV flashed and now you could see the wife of the deceased president. The political situation across the whole world crumbled in so short time, and this president was the last one across the whole world that you could actually call a politician. This world was broken, dictators and dumbasses ruling the world, this world was shattering into thousands of pieces, ripping the simple people like you with it.
First Lady:"Dear citizens, now that my beloved husband has passed away, I must proclaim a new era, the era of chaos and destruction, the world as we know it will start crumbling, it already started. Mothers, children, I'm so sorry, but you must hide and stay safe somehow, I wish I knew how to help you all, but for the first time in a while, I can't help you all. Dear citizens, please stay safe, this was the last transmission from me as First La-"
The screen rapidly broke off as the last thing which could be heard was a bomb explosion.
·Back to the present ·
That's when it all started, you were barely sixteen as it happened. The world seemingly lost it's mind. An atomic bomb blew up the white house, and basically all Washington, signs of the atomic bomb spreading across the whole land, leaving marks of wasteland and devastation across the whole land. Civilization as it was known didn't exist any more. If you got sick, you couldn't go to the doctor, you could only hope to find some medication somewhere or simply hope for a swift and painless death. There were no stores or anything, if you needed something, you had to scavenge for supplies, for food, for ammunition. In a world like this there were simply no rules, you could do whatever you wanted to, you could kill whoever you wanted to. If you weren't tough, couldn't kill, couldn't defend yourself you wouldn't make it out here. No one could be truly trusted, and you learned it the hard way.
·Flashback ·
"It's okay, just come with us, you'll be safe with us..." The man gripped your wrist tightly, keeping you from running away. "B-but my mother is still in there! MOM! MOM, COME HERE! MOM, DON'T LEAVE ME!" Tears streamed down your cheeks while the man from your neighborhood dragged you away from your crumbling house. You were surrounded by screams, fire, explosions, crying women and children. "It's too late darling, she's dead." Of course you wouldn’t accept that. "NO....no.....this all can't be happening..." You collapsed onto the floor, holding your head with your hands. You roughly brushed your hands through your hair while the tears kept streaming down your face. "Quit it! This ain't the time for mental breakdowns for fuck’s sake!" He aggressively grabbed your wrists again and pulled you onto your feet. "Leave me alone, bastard!"
You ripped your wrists away from the man, and just stood there looking at him. He looked back at you, before stretching out his hand, gathering strength, and slapping you right across the face. His hand left a burning, red mark across your face. Your tears streamed right down the mark he left, soothing it a little bit, but still being painful. You lost all will to fight or protest and went with the man. He brought you to a house full of men around his age. You stayed there for the first month of the apocalypse. These men gained your trust, they taught you how to use a gun, how to make fires, how to defend yourself, how to fight, how to scavenge for food, basically everything you required in a world like this. They became something similar to a family, now that you lost your actual family. They let you go on scavenges with them, they gave you a fair share of the loot, they taught you how to kill. One day during the night, you heard muffled screams from downstairs, the room in which the men were staying most of the time. You grabbed your gun and got up from the mattress on which you slept. It was a simple mattress that was placed on the cold hard floor. You loaded your gun and started walking towards the door. You headed for the stairs which led downstairs.
"Please....why are you do-" A loud gunshot fired, and you heard one of the familiar voices laugh maniacally. You sneaked a peek at the room, only to discover one of the men you lived with, standing in the middle of the room. All the other men, including the one who rescued you the day it all broke out, dead on the floor. One was shot in the stomach, the other one right in the chest, the last right through the head. You stood there with widened eyes, completely in shock while shakily aiming your gun at the man. "Why did you do this?! I-I thought we were a family?! How could you?!" His eyes fell upon you, and he laughed even louder. "Awww, isn't that cute! She seriously thinks she can defend herself!" He grabbed one of the dead men by the hair and pulled him up so his empty, cold eyes could face you. He dropped him to the floor again, seemingly not caring whatsoever. "You've lost your mind!" You yelled at him, trying to hide every speck of insecurity you could. "So what if I did?! You can't stop me! You're just a lousy little girl! Come here baby! Come here and join your little 'family'!" He laughed and laughed and laughed, the sound of his laugh burned into your mind. You kept on aiming the gun at him, slowly approaching him. You never killed anyone before, the men only told you how to, but you never tried it out. All you ever did was shoot at beer cans here and there. "Come on baby! Shoot me! Look! I'm right here!~" He started jumping around, visibly taunting and mocking you, while giggling like a psychopath. "I'll shoot you!...You know I will!" No matter how hard you tried, it was still easy to tell how scared and uneasy you were. "Then do it you fucking pussy!" You arranged your aim, and closed your eyes. "Go ahead you fu-" Another gunshot fell, this time from YOUR gun. You opened your eyes again, just to see the man holding his dirty hand against the wound you just caused in his stomach, while slowly sliding down the table onto the floor. "Y/N....Y/N....take...take care okay....never...trust.....anyone....I'm sorry....." You stood there, looking down at him, absorbing his words and what just happened. These men taught you everything you needed to know, so you did what they taught you to. You grabbed a backpack from the storage room and grabbed as many things as possible. "Good bye guys....thank you for everything...see you around..." You left the house in which you had lived, and went onto the empty, ruined streets. Here and there were some random people vandalizing what already was vandalized, beating into cars with baseball bats, spraying random logos onto the wall, smashing windows, drinking booze. You were ready to face the world now.
·Back to the present ·
You walked down the wasted streets, one hand gripping the strap of your backpack full of supplies, the other tightly gripping your loaded gun. You were in search of a place for temporary shelter, and possibly even some more supplies. You needed more ammo, possibly more water too. You walked past multiple houses, and looked into the windows to see if they were empty or not, if they seemingly had supplies or not and so on. "Jackpot."
You found a house with seemingly many supplies in it, you saw two men standing there arranging the closets with supplies. You did what you always did, and climbed in through the window. "Helloooo!~" You shouted once you entered the home. "Wha-" You shot right through that man’s head, and shot the other man right through the chest. "Was nice meeting you!" If there was one thing you learned, it was not to show mercy. If you showed mercy, you'd make yourself appear weak, if people saw you as weak, things simply wouldn't go out so well. You lifted the heavy, dead corpses one by one and threw them outside. "What a lovely home, I'll love staying here for the next few nights. Finally some good sleep for me..." It was important to find shelter for the nights, because that is when the different gangsters and thugs went out to fight each other. It simply wasn't safe, because they didn't care who they killed, as long as they killed someone. You let yourself fall onto the couch and started cleaning your gun a little bit with a piece of cloth you picked up. The sun almost was fully down, and you were sure that you'd finally have a little bit of peace now, but you were wrong.
Someone knocked on the door, so you went over to it and carefully opened it. You automatically aimed your gun at the intruder. It was a young man, maybe a little bit older than you. He sure was quite handsome, you had to admit. "Who are you and what do you want here on MY plot?" You asked in a monotone voice. The man that entered the house lifted his hands showing you he wasn't armed at the moment and had no bad intentions...yet. "Look...It's turning night, and me and my group need a shelter-" You interrupted the young man. "And why should I care?" You softly wrapped your finger around the trigger, ready to fire at any moment. "Please, look, we don't need any supplies or anything, just a place to stay, really, we won't do anything." The man seemed desperate. "I don't care who you are, nor what you want, leave now before you regret it." You were about to close the door on him, but he reached in between. "Please, let's make a deal, I'll give you whatever you need, i don't know, I can offer you ammo or a new knife or something. Please, just let us stay here, we'll leave first thing in the morning." Ammo was the exact thing you needed, a new knife sounded good too. "Hm...sounds like a deal... okay, you may stay, but as soon as I get only a little bit suspicious, I will shoot you AND your friends." The man let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you so much, may I ask what your name is?" You put your gun down, still holding on to it tightly though. "The name's Y/N, yours?” You looked at him full of curiosity. "I'm Kim Namjoon. Nice making business with you.~" He turned around. "Guys you can come in!"
His group came walking in and Namjoon introduced every single one of them to you. First a man walked in with messy orange-tinted hair, a lollipop in his mouth, and a skateboard in his hand, you could see hints of blood splatters on the skateboard. "This is Kim Taehyung." He grinned at you slightly weirdly. "Hello there!~" He giggled a little bit. "Don't mind him, he is kind of weird..but like in a good way I swear." Namjoon added reassuringly. "Good to know..." You turned your head to the side, and sighed. What were you getting yourself into? You looked at the man named Taehyung. He looked like one of those guys all your friends would've been flying for, back then. You couldn't help but feel curious about what he did with that skateboard. The next one walked in, he was a short muscular man with red hair. Not ginger red, but like really really red. He had a few bruises in his face, and a jawline as sharp as a knife. "So this is Jimin, people tend to underestimate him due to his height, but trust me, he is a force to be reckoned with." Jimin didn’t seem too much in the mood to explain a lot, seems as if he just got out of a nasty fight or something. "Hi." You eyed him up and down."Hello Jimin." Next up was a man, only slightly taller than him, with pitch black hair and a red cap. His skin was really pale, and you were slightly concerned. His hands were as pale as his face, but his knuckles were hurt and slightly red. "This is Min Yoongi, he tends to be quite quiet, so don't expect to hear too much from him." Yoongi only glanced at you for a second before looking away again, seemingly unbothered by the whole situation. "..uh....hello..." You ironically greeted him with a lot of enthusiasm. "Hi Yoongi." Now a man entered the room, he seemed quite tall and muscular. He had light brown fluffy hair. His lip had a cut on one side, as if he also had a fight with someone earlier. His face appeared very youthful. "This is Jeon Jungkook, our little Kookie." Namjoon ruffled Jungkook’s hair. "He's the youngest of us." The young man seemed quite cheerful. "Hi!" You haven’t seen a happy face for so long. "Hey there!" He seemed to be a cheery, playful guy. A blonde guy came in now, with a huge heartwarming smile. In comparison to the others, you really didn't notice anything suspicious about him. "This is Jung Hoseok, our sunshine, he tends to be kind of loud once in a while but he has the best spirit!" The man named Hoseok walked up to you. "Hello..Y/N right?" His incredibly wide smile, made you smile back at him. "Yup, nice meeting you!" The last man entered the room. He had brown hair and broad shoulders. Same as Jimin he had a few bruises spread across his surprisingly handsome face. "This is Jin, the oldest one of us." The man bent over slightly out of politeness, you haven’t seen that in a while either. "Hey there." You smiled at him as well. "Hello."
You took a second to look at Namjoon again. His hair was platinum blond, there was something about his face that really caught your attention. He, I don't know, just seemed different. You observed him closely to see if he had any bruises as well. You looked at him closely, just to see the outline of a gun sticking out of his pocket. You decided to not mention that, -just yet."Okay, make yourselves at home, but mark my words, act suspicious and I'll pierce your skulls with a bullet, try attacking me and I'll murder you and your friends within seconds, do something bad and I swear to god I will kill you in the most painful way possible, got it?" The group of men nodded, seemingly not taking it too serious. You let the boys wander through the house as they pleased, and you decided to go to the kitchen to see what you could find for now.
