Everybody that grew up with the animated Asterix films can hear the arsenic pudding song now…

each time I get in the kitchen to bake, I feel like suddendly turning into two evil guys that sing an evil song in French about an arsenic cake to blame Asterix and Obelix of poisoning Cleopatra

I feel like showing my favourite hieroglyphics jokes from Astérix et Cleopatre!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"who rightly said, if you can draw, you can write!!"
The Egyptians in Astérix et Cleopatre speak in hieroglyphics, but of course to make it sillier, the drawings are more or less the actual events.
Tumblr media
"Not on the bank! On the other side!"
Tumblr media
Their reaction to the nose on the Sphinx falling off, which didn't even need a translation at the bottom.
Tumblr media
Here one says, "the foreigners are gone, so you no longer need to keep going". The three figures crossed out in the top left of the speech bubble include a short one (Astérix), a tall fat one (Obélix) and a tall skinny one (Panoramix).
Tumblr media
And of course the dog!
Tumblr media
When they arrive to Gaul (modern-day France), the country itself is drawn.
And my absolute favourite, when they show that Obélix can't replicate the accent well...

Title: Asterix and Cleopatra (1968)
Vote: 7.5/10
A truly beautiful film that makes both adults and children laugh. A small timeless masterpiece that transports France's most famous gaul to torrid Egypt.

Love it when these two are arguing and they get in each other's faces so much their noses touch and squish against each other. What an adorable way to be angry with someone, lmao.
