When I was younger and researching the autism diagnosis criteria and symptoms, I thought “oh I couldn’t POSSIBLY be autistic.” Because when I read “takes everything literally” I thought it literally meant EVERYTHING and I was like “I don’t take EVERYTHING literally, just most things!” And I just realized the other day that it didn’t actually mean EVERYTHING and that was an overstatement.
the most helpful thing i have ever seen from neurodivergent internet spaces is “THERE ARE OTHER TIMES OF DAY TO BRUSH YOUR TEETH”. this has genuinely saved me from executive dysfunction spirals so many times.

Autism acceptance includes accepting all autistic manners of communication.
That means supporting autistic people who talk in a "very childish" way. (I do this a lot irl)
Autistic people who do "TV talking" (this means talking like a character from your favorite media,basically talking in quotes and copying their speech patterns,as far as I know)
Autistic people who use echolia.
Autistic people who are very awkward/quirky when they communicate.
Autistic people who are overly technical,or have very sophisticated and articulate speech.
Autistic people who mumble.
Autistic people who talk really fast.
Autistic people who can't control their tone of voice/inflection.
Autistic people who talk in a monotone voice.
Autistic people who use different kind of sounds,or body language to communicate.
Autistic people who talk slowly and draw out their syllables.
Autistic people who use a lot of sentance fillers.
Autistic people who use Aac devices,communication cards,etc etc.
Edit: acceptance of nonverbal autistics is also necessary. Nonverbal people deserve love,respect,acceptance,accommodation and support.
By keeping a tray full of no prepare necessary food, in the fridge it can be used to aid neurodivergent or fatigued people.
By putting food like, cheese and crackers, or whatever is a safe food for you personally on the tray, it can be taken easily to the couch or bed to be eaten from whenever you are hungry.
This prevents executive dysfunction or fatigue and any reason preventing you from eating. You need to care of yourself because everyone needs food to stay alive including you.
You deserve to eat even when on a bad brain day and are unable to prepare a meal for yourself.
If not having a full meal doesn't satisfy you, a snack may even give you the energy to make a full meal afterwards!
All of you complain about overstimulation and sensory overload
We need to talk about under stimulation. I’m not saying I want to be overloaded with information. No I mean when I get panic attacks because there is not enough self stimulation in a situation. I have to walk out of meetings to pace around and think to calm myself down because my fight or flight response has activated from being not being able to stim.
I get so anxious when I cannot listen to music or have something playing in the background because I need stimulation that I choose to have and which I have control over
one thing i hate about being “out” as autistic is suddenly all communication errors are your fault. unclear directions were given? your fault for being autistic, you must’ve misunderstood directions that were “probably perfectly clear.” not enough actionable information was provided for you? it must just be your autism, you should’ve picked up on what wasn’t said. they didn’t actually tell you what you were supposed to do and expected you to read their mind? your fault, not the allistic’s for not accommodating you or just saying what they want. because apparently it’s a one way street where autistics have to bend over backward to conform and placate allistics. its your fault even when they’re 100% culpable. i hate it
This is not a stim thing but, I just want to reassure you that something can still be a special interest and/or hyperfixation even if you can't memorize all the facts about it. Even if you have to keep relearning all about it, or you can't verbally express or explain your thoughts about it. I feel like there's sometimes pressure or an expectation in ND communities that you should be able to memorize all the facts about your special interests or hyperfixations, and also be able to spout them off for others. But special interests and hyperfixations aren't like memorizing for a test you have to take, they're more like little creatures that have crawled inside your head and taken up residence (often unexpectedly!)
