I don’t wanna sound like a Negative Narvin™️ but almost every theory I’ve seen about Ruby has her ending up being the daughter of either the Doctor or a companion of New Who significance (River, Rose, etc) and the absolute dread that fills in me at the thought of that being the twist is almost incalculable. The thought of it is just so boring and so uninteresting to me that if the final twist is something along those lines I will be so deflated.

Personally, I don’t have many theories yet but I stick with my original one and that is that Ruby is what I will call a Paradox Baby™️. This means that the woman dropping her off at the church, her “mother”, is actually herself and we never truly learn the origin of Ruby Sunday.

She doesn't trigger any sort of paradoxical effects by holding her infant self because she was always the one holding her infant self. The reason snow appears when they discuss Ruby’s origin is because reality can’t handle looking too closely at the paradox that is her existence. The Maestro was so unsettled by the (Christmas) song in Ruby because the song is representative of her paradox. It’s why the TARDIS makes strange noises around her every once in a while. Hell, it could be why the whole butterfly thing happened (regardless of what the Doctor said). She is able to exist because after Flux and everything with Swarm and Azure, time and space are nowhere as synchronous as they once were.

Finally, it all lines up with her line from the trailer, “It’s taken me all this time to realize what I’m meant to do. I’m going to save the world.”

Realizing that she has no past to speak of beyond that Christmas on Ruby Road, she needs to look forward to her future, her purpose.

And in a way this all sort of parallels the Doctor’s story with his past. He’s an “adopted” child with no idea of where he’s really from, but that just means all he can do is look forward to the future and what he’s going to do with it.

Hell, not to get too conspiracy theory, but it would also explain the music choice in the primary trailer. Changes by David Bowie is about how you can’t change time but time changes you.

That’s my working theory, at least.

-quinn, ren, and tlachtga are all around the same age and grew up together. they were pretty close friends and quinn used to third wheel them until he got a desk job at the radha and they drifted apart -ren used to dual wield katanas. she lost one in the azure rainforest some time before eo1 started and that's why lindworm has it now -kupala and lindworm are identical twins. they're not on good terms with each other anymore -xiuan was cloned from one of the original yggdrasil project scientists -logre was married to alfodr and baldur is their kid -rosa is actually a caledonian spy sent to infiltrate ontario and the sheldon family. she does enjoy her work as a guildkeeper but her loyalties lie with caledonia first and foremost -betrand isn't a man he's just a really butch lesbian -the arken is a HUGE david bowie fan

the sway of the beat drifted and erupted through the creaking pleated floor boards boisterously as james grasped at your hand, obnoxiously spinning you around the absent dormitory by the gleaming window with sun rays rapidly shining into the room.

every single marauder except for the bespectacled one was away for a hogsmeade trip collecting items at zonkos for their newest pranks, leaving you and the brunette boy alone for the remainder of the day. his dark tendrils sweeping over his cerulean irises that happen to infinitely gleam in adoration as long as you were in his viewpoint.

his eyes telling a story of benevolence, jubilation, and clarity behind them. the flecks of navy and azure glistening in his cerulean irises, as his eyes slightly creased at the sides, causing minuscule fine lines in its wake, while chuckling at your frightful dancing as you paraded around his searing dormitory.

the rings of lapis ringing around his irises as his pupils contorted wider at his solicitude for you. the david bowie song almost unpleasantly loud to any other gryffindor schoolmates that had been sat in the vermillion common room or along the way of the hallway that had the remainder of gryffindor students.

his hands taking a grasp at your exposed hips as your arms were raised, levelling them down to his biceps now feeling the crinkle of fabric beneath his palms whilst you chuckled at his adorations for your silhouette.

his sway slightly slowing down at the hast music erupting through his dormitory, his forehead placed upon the flushed skin of your own. the heaving breaths shared between the two teenagers whilst you both had begun to calm down from the prancing every square inch of the room for the last few hours.

he sponged a small kiss on your nose mid-breath, encasing his palms around your face as he grinned with elation at the connection being shared between you both. the mutual lining of love and intimacy shared between you both almost daring to be severed but yet, completely intact.

nose to nose, chin to chin, chest to chest, the imaginary spark of shell-pink almost like a rope tied to each one of your hearts connecting you both almost with an unbreakable charm set on it. the exceeding wrap of your arms around his torso, the way his body could perfectly fit into your own— despite the engaging height difference a-swell as size he was yet to think that anyone else could fit perfectly into his heart the way you could.

the way your palms where encased around his flush beating heart, his entirety content with tenderness for you. he was tremendously surprised on how one singular person could flip his life around, the way you could make his brain scramble in thoughts, the bleary headspace full of adoration you could set his mind into after simply pecking the crease between his brows.

the way his hands glided from your cheeks into the root of your tresses, the tufts thick between his digits and he landed a small kiss on the cushion of your lips; pulling him abundantly closer by the waist his head tilted slightly at your yearning for his lips, the sponge of his lips caressing yours throughly with intimacy in the middle of his dormitory. the amount of abundance you shared between the strawberry glossed kiss and the previous panting chests was opulent.

the way his eyes would glisten at your figure when you had been turned away, the mocking kiss you sent him whilst he was seething through the air whilst heavily clutched on the quaffle during a quidditch match, the small comforting caresses you both had shared in the late nights of his dormitory after particularly difficult full moons, with immense disquietude broiling in your veins.

the way your eyes has glimmered at him in this very moment, full of abundance, elation and endearment.

the endearment you had carried for james was everlasting.

only for the spectacled boy who’s circular glasses laid too low, who hexed fourth year ravenclaws when they barked a laugh at you for rolling your ankle on the moving stairs, the boy whos world revolved around you.

“i love you, james.”

his benevolence was simply everlasting.

“i love you, more, y/n.”

ILLEGIBLE’S TOTALLY SUBJECTIVE FAVORITE EORZEA COLLECTION DESIGNS: FEMALE

I’ve mentioned in the past, the main thing that made me start playing FFXIV properly was seeing people’s character designs. I’m still honestly blown away by the creativity and range of approaches people bring to this game, so I’ve decided to be an absolute madwoman and break my favorites into subcategories to share with anyone curious.

And to be clear. I’m not going to do something so broad as “oh top ten in-general :3″ because that would be sensible. No, I’m going to do it for all the current combat jobs. And all the current races. And different genders within the races and combat jobs as things stand. And I’m going to make a face-focus subcategory. And there are gonna be LOTS. Because I seriously cannot understate how inspired I’ve been by this community, and after however many years I just feel the need to vomit some incredible visuals I’ve encountered at you guys lol.

NOTE: In an abundance of caution, I want to stress this list isn’t a value judgment on anyone but a fragment of things that blew me personally away. Looking at the DRK sections it will be immediately clear that I Illegible really like that edgy dark knight aesthetic lmao, but there are plenty of non-edgy dark knights that I also love to bits. Other people might not like edgy dark knights. Due to a combination of size and search constraints plus trying to keep gear somewhat varied, these glamours are just what wound up on this particular list of mine. I could make another list one day. Other people can make lists too that are totally different.

Birthday Surprise

Request: Hello love! So, my birthday is in the next week and it would be absolutely wonderful if you could write a birthday imagine with Queen, Elton John and David Bowie all celebrating with the reader? 

For my love @crzy-lilthing, happy birthday my very dear darling, I hope you have an incredible day because you my dear deserve it! <3

Knowing your birthday was coming up in a few days, Freddie knew he had to gear up into action to pull of the best surprise party ever thrown in history.

‘Bri, darling, I’m putting you and Roger in charge of cake baking and decorating.’

‘That’s a recipe for disaster, Freddie, I’m telling you’, Bri replies from his position on the sofa, his legs sprawled over the side and his arms stretched over his head, his soft little tummy on show as he curls into the cushions, before receiving a throw pillow to the face from Roger for the terrible pun.

‘John, love, seeing as you’re the only one I can trust, I’m leaving you in charge of decorations.’

‘Did you say... decorations? Or dalmations? Sorry, I lost focus there for a second,’ John says, leaning over the tartan corduroy rest of the armchair, his tongue sticking out a little like a puppy’s as he aims his throw, his arms punching up into the air in victory as yet another marshmallow from the packet lying spilt at his hip slides, half-melted, down the back of Roger’s shirt, much to his annoyance.

Freddie furrows his eyebrows, thumping his head down into the palm of his hands with a defeated sigh. Murmuring to himself, he comes up with a plan. ‘I’m going to need more help,’ he whispers, ‘and who else to ask but them two?’

As the key jingles in the lock, the beaming rays of the spring afternoon shining delicately on your face and warming your cheeks with a gentle blush, you smile softly as the front door creaks open, ready to spend your birthday with your favourite boys. As your feet patter onto the soft cream carpet of the hallway and you shrug off your heavy coat, you chuckle slightly as you hear the fire alarm beep, tufts of white smoke like little clouds tufting out of the closed kitchen door as you hear manic footsteps and what sounds like the dropping of the tray.

As you walk forwards, shaking your head in amusement as you hear the loud ‘ow’ of Roger, along with what sounds like Freddie flapping the bright red tea towel whilst running around the kitchen tabletop, you begin to laugh as you open the door. Thick chuckles erupt from the pit of your stomach as Roger turns towards you, his blonde hair whipping around his flushed face as his fingers nearly drop the wooden spoon and bowl he’s mixing in his hands. His blue t shirt ruffles slightly as he stops, turning to grin at you anxiously as he puts the icing down and turns to walk towards you, being pushed out of the way as Freddie drops the towel in his hands, his mouth opening in a big toothy smile as he runs barefoot past the smoking oven and opens his arms, enveloping you in a strong hug.

‘Happy Birthday, my darling’, he whispers into your neck, kissing your forehead gently before Roger strolls over, wrapping his slender arms around you both and saying, ‘yeah love, Happy Birthday! Sorry about the mess, but we did manage to finish your main cake.’ You raise your eyebrows as you take in the kitchen counter, a large chocolate layered cake dripping onto the cool tile in fat droplets in the slight heat, sprinkles tossed over the top and marshmallows spelling out your name, as if done by Picasso himself. Your eyes take in the splashes of icing that lay spread along the tabletop, some streaked and you chuckle as you see Roger dip his finger towards the stained sleeve of his shirt and lick some off with a satisfied and curious hum, chocolate chips laying haphazardly over the floor, in what you can only assume was the remnants of a food fight.

Someone whirls you around in surprise, grabbing your hand softly, and your shocked to see David standing there in a bright green suit with a cheeky grin on his face, ‘that will come later, love. First, you’ll have to come and see what Deaky and I managed to do with the decorations!’ He tugs you forwards towards the open patio doors of the kitchen, but not without picking up an open bag of marshmallows and throwing a handful at Roger’s face, who manages to thwack the little white missiles away with the palm of his hand. Freddie laughs at the shocked look on his face, jumping in the air as David manages to hit him dead in the eye.

Your head bumps into a multitude of rainbow streamers that hang down from the ceiling like delicate fairy lights, twisting over the top of your forehead like fireworks as David smiles widely, winking at you as he whispers, ‘the best is still to come, my dear.’ As you step out the door, your arm falls dead to your side as you gaze out into the garden, mouth agape and small breathless giggles erupting from your mouth as the small chirps of song thrushes leaping from the garden fence and flying into the azure sky make you feel like you’ve stepped back into your childhood, the blades of emerald grass flattened under the wind in beautiful shimmering waves, reflecting the dazzling red and blue hues that bounce off the massive bouncy castle plopped right in the middle of the grass. Your distracted from your thoughts, turning your head slightly when you hear high pitched giggles warble out into the air like the gentle chimes of bells rung by fairies, accompanied by a varying pitch hearty laugh as a brown perm and bouncing black curls rise up and through your vision, your head following them, entranced. John falls onto the bouncy castle floor, the sunlight bouncing off his bright childish smile as Brian butt bounces next to him, his white cotton shirt waving with each step as John begins to shout, his cries for mercy mixing with his uncontrollable laughter as the corner turrets of the castle shake. Elton stands by the side, his glasses slipping slowly down the tip of his nose, his cap slightly crooked from where Brian managed to thwack it with his lanky arm when chasing after John, a slightly dismayed look on his face as he stares at them, shaking his head.

However, both men turn slightly, Brian’s face falling into one of shock and amused despair, his lanky legs stumbling backwards, nearly falling as his legs drop down underneath the cushion floor as he sees Roger run past you in a blur, a determined look set on his face, biting his tongue that protrudes at of his mouth slightly as he leaps off the floor, arms by his side as he jumps straight into Brian, knocking the both of them to the floor with a defeated thud. They bounce slightly, their legs becoming entangled as Brian rolls around the yellow and red plastic, before Roger shoves him gently and his face contorts into one of fear as he falls, sliding down the small slide and landing onto the grass with an over dramatic thud. Freddie chuckles, grabbing your hand and pulling the both of you into the mess, both of you jumping over a groaning Brian who begins to get up, his curls whipped over his face after the effort, before laughing and falling back onto the ground, his arms spread wide and clutching the dirt. Elton tries to hobble forwards towards you to envelope you in a massive bear hug, but finally gives into the manic mess when Roger comes bounding down into a massive jump, tossing Elton backwards onto his bottom.

John bounces towards you, his knees up high by his chest as he leans forward, the light blue collar of his shirt hitting the side of his jaw every so often as he comes straggling into you, shouting a loud ‘Happy Birthday, ‘y/n, thanks for a great party’, before flashing you an evil grin. Straining, he lifts his arms up, raising himself high into the air, Roger’s face glancing up in amazed awe as he falls back down to the earth like a ton of bricks, landing on his butt and making you shoot up into the air, squealing, like a rocket travelling at the speed of light. Freddie’s arms reach out to catch you, but as you land, chuckling to yourself like a naughty schoolgirl, your feet trip awkwardly over themselves and you end up pulling a wide eyed Freddie down to the floor with you, nudging your face into his vest to try and control your manic laughter, your heart thumping and fizzing as wide as the fire would flicker on your birthday candles that night. But as you gaze up into the dawning sky, the sky is dazzling orange hue, making the balloons tied to the bouncy castle turrets shine like little stars, your heart falling giddily in time to the pace of Roger and Brian’s jumps, you look forward to every other birthday you’d be able to spend in the company of these big children.

Origin

Azure was always a rebellious kid, sneaking out late to off and break into places or run around town, it didn't matter what she wanted out for she always just wanted to be out of the little house she lived in. Her mother passed away after leaving to go back to the freljord when she was little and so she was raised by her father who always was gone and her cruel stepmother, who always prioritized her stepsiblings over her, even going as far as giving her own belongings to them to make her feel isolated, all because she was a half freljordian with iceborne blood.

And worse was the beatings, and torment. Her stepmother would shave half of her hair to make her look ugly, beating her till she was bored, even going as far and branding her back. Every rule broken was a beating, every slight misstep, and thing said out of line was a punishment. Eventually on her 16th birthday she was done, she stole everything that could get her a good amount of gold and took off ripping apart all of her mother's most fancy clothes when she did, including her wedding dress that she loved to brag about.

Azure used all the money she got from selling everything to buy herself some clothes and a bowie knife, that she keeps hidden under her hoodie with a back waist sheath. Now she roams the streets of Zaun just trying to have the fun she didn't get to have as a kid, and trying to survive.
