You know it was weird that Diego didn't get to kill anyone in 3 seasons but that his younger self killed so many people (probably, given their first mission)... I keep thinking of "If I wanted you dead, you'd be dead" quote, like do you think he's genuinely killed anyone since his days at the academy?

Like s1, Diego actually felt like he could kill someone if he had to, but s2 Diego felt more like he'd protect people or maim them... and s3, I do feel/think the writers forgot what his powers were, he wasn't really given the chance to in the final battle. Which is weird given that he is supposed to be good a weaponry, more importantly with knives... but also given the chance he would more likely maim them.

Anyways, just casually thinking of Diego and his moral stance on killing people.

Edit: Diego did kill people in s1 ep 10!

jim has beaten her at cards no less than eight times in the last hour alone. what started with coins and admirable accessories has escalated into weary offers of tying the ropes for the next week, or taking on the less pleasant chores aboard the ship. and truth be told, she no longer knows if they're even playing the same game anymore. not when jim holds up the most wildly different cards each time they win, and the only indication of a victory is found in their triumphant nod and hand held out for their latest rewards.

" wait, that's a two. you've got a two and a seven, how does that work? " she's about to inquire further, mid-way through the exchange of her scarf, when the captain storms out of the house, door slamming so hard that jim has to return it to its rightful place. she, on the other hand, is already reknotting the scarf in her hair and jogging after ed, damage control at the front of her mind.

twitter is terrifying because there's an assumption that your profile picture is going to be Of You and mine just??? isn't. i tweeted something about being on benefits and got a dm from a bbc news reporter asking if she could interview me as a case study about the cost of living crisis but i'm turning it down because i'm concerned she's seen my profile picture and thinks i'm a man in his 40s rather than a 22 yr old who lives with his parents. and like i have things to say about the benefits system but i'm almost certainly not who she thinks she's asking to interview

I think rewatching is making me more fond of the idea of the two of them eventually falling in love, for example its so funny this is technically their first kiss

back when i was on twitter for a month for the renewal campaign stuff i saw a take that was like “why are we still acting like ed was getting better in 1.10 before izzy intervened when 2.02 showed us what it means when ed is suddenly cleaning things up and acting cheerful.” and i guess the interpretation here is that izzy recognized ed’s actions as signs of an impending suicidal attempt and the “namby pamby/edward better watch his fucking step” stuff was izzy’s poorly executed but well-meaning attempt to stop ed from going down that path. the last sentence is too much for me to even engage with tho so i’m just gonna leave that there for y’all to boggle at with me

but anyway back to the take that obviously ed’s about to kill himself in 1.10 bc cheering up and tidying his space are things ed does when he’s planning to die

cannot believe this needs to be said but there's a pretty big difference between crying in a blanket fort and eating marmalade straight from the jar for like, a fucking day, and then hanging out with friends and making plans to all do something fun together which puts you in better spirits and motivates you to start cleaning up ur room and getting ur life back together after a brief detour into heartbreak

versus fucking. months of isolating from everyone but your one long-time employee who is mean to you and who reminds you of your dad (who you killed when u were a kid btw) and constant substance abuse and throwing yourself entirely into overworking at your job that you hate and not giving yourself any breaks or days off, all of this eventually culminating in you shooting the employee who reminds you of your dad in front of all your other employees and then leaving the rest of your employees to finish him off. and then waking up the next morning suddenly in an inexplicable and unexpected good mood and deciding to clean up your room like youre getting your affairs in order.
