A completed commission for @bertiblogxiv, Berti seems like such a sweetheart, he was a joy to work with. :3 I'm such a sucker for gentle giant types.

The Knights
Hey peeps!
Here are my designs for Carmine Esclados & Bertilak Celadon!
Ever since I saw Carmine’s official design I’ve wanted to redo it, because her original design is a crime against humanity and it’s one of the worst things I’ve ever seen
So I redid Carmine using her description in the book, and figured I’d do Bertilak, too, since the poor guy got literally nothing after the book was published
I really wanted to lean into both of their allusions to the Red Knights & the Green Knight respectively, so I gave them (specifically Carmine) a bunch of different armor pieces, and now they kinda match with their silver colors, albeit Bertilak’s is rusted
I also wanted to highlight them being described as total opposites outfit-wise, since Bertilak is described to not even look like a Huntsman because of his outfit, whereas Carmine is clocked as a Huntress with one glance from Coco
Anygay, that’s them <3
I guess I’ll do Team SSSNN next, but that’ll be after I finish reading Before the Dawn lol
Individual Designs under the cut <3

A bit late, but I made something for @mortiscausa's March to Camelot prompt "Quest". Oil pastels, tried to match the colors, words from Trial of Cato's Gawain.

Well, that day has come
I took the authorship of Swans of Arabia from Makepeace, and wrote a short fanfic about how Makepeace's canon is actually the OOC, because I can't just let a good female character and a potentially interesting human-demon dynamic go to waste, so
These are my children now, Makepeace, not yours (take it personally, yes)
It's just the beginning

gawain and the green knight by john howe, lanval and his lady by byam shaw
[ID 1: gawain faces away, standing on a grassy cliff. facing him is a giant green man with long grass-like hair and a beard. /end ID 1
ID 2: a woman with a crown and a long white dress stands proud in front of a crowd. next to her is a young man in armour. /end ID 2]
gawain and bertilak admittedly don't have the best meeting on account of gawain beheading bertilak and bertilak cheerily putting his head back and telling gawain that he'll be beheaded in turn the next year. however, it's very clear that bertilak rather likes gawain when he ends up staying at his castle, exchanging the animals he has hunted for whatever gawain finds at the castle (which turns out to be daily kisses) and then, after a fun little game where he pretends to cut gawain's head off, sends him on his merry way back to camelot. good for them.
lanval and his fairy lady are very cute, and lanval seems completely besotted with her for the entire time, and she eventually comes to rescue him when he is put on trial falsely.

A Stranger Plays Cards at Night by bertilak
A Single Choice Jam entry.
Entry - IFDB - More by bertilak - @bertilak-writes
Playing cards with the devil...
This entry is a retelling of a popular European folk story, where a card game is being played at a pub, when a stranger comes in and asks to join. Promising all your heart could desire if you beat him, but if you lose... he would take something from you too. Will you take on the challenge or fold?
The entry is very short, only a few passages before the eventual choice, and its visual is bare, putting the focus on the text. I really liked the depiction of the group of friend playing cards at the pub before the stranger's entrance, giving a false sense of normalcy - a sticking opposition with the description of the stranger.
The choice itself feels both quite consequential and not very surprising, considering the heavy hints the game provides ahead of time. Both option will give quite different and expected endings. I think I preferred the "playing" option more than the other one - mainly because I'm still not sure what price will be paid...
It was a neat piece of folklore.
