PSA that I feel we all need to hear, it’s not always your fault if your betta dies. You can literally give them the best quality of life, and they will still die, because they are so incredibly inbred and over produced that their genetics are shit. I’ve been keeping bettas for probably 6ish years now, and even with perfect parameters, a large tank, heaters and filters, they can still develop all sorts of illnesses. At the end of the day, all that matters is you provided them with a loving home, and that you cared for them as best you could.

remember it is always ethical to steal bettas from big chain pet stores

#if you say you rescued a betta from a petsmart or whatever and you just bought it youre stupid. explode #grab it and walk out babe! the employees do not get paid enough to care ! #tip if youre scared of getting seen with the cup. bring a bag or some other container with you and take the cup to some corner where there’s #no one around and then gently pour the cup out into the bag. then walk out #even better if you have a jacket or something you can sew a pocket to the inside and carry it out discreetly ell oh ell #goes without saying but dont do this unless you have a cycled and ready tank at home 👍 #rambles #fish #fishblr #bettablr

welcome mabel ! i still have to get some plants for her tank but shes a koi plakat with minor fin rot and severe stress bleaching.

the bones included are: raccoon pelvis, raccoon skull, and a broken deer bone ! i found and cleaned all of them myself. i have no clue what type the rocks are though i stole them from one of my lizards tanks

I gor more Poke redesigns!! Some more favorable than others!!

Emboar- Leaned more onto the Barbarian Pig design instead of the other way they were leading us. Still could use tweaking but im happy with the concept!!

Sneasler - More of a Search and Rescue than the original! The Ribbon on their head flares when they re trying to get someones attention. Fluffier for warmth, and the angled bottom claws to keep balance when clinging to cliffsides!

Golurk- less of a Redesign and more of a Variant! Fire/Ground, after a Volcano erupted hundreds of tbousands of years ago in Alola. Fueled by their urge to protect the huamns, the Golurk abandoned their ghost typing to outfit the lava around them, making them into the Fire/Ground type you see here.

Krabby/Kingler: this one was just to make them less real life crabs and more crab-pokemon! I love them dearly X3

Bruxish: a friend pointed out that they were most likely based on the humuhumunukunukuapua'a but i leaned away from that and went more Betta fish, cutting down on the Yellow and to make it a less blaring look!

And you continued telling yourself that, even through the trials and tribulations of trying to befriend a human. Even through all the nasty remarks, all the threats, and the cages, and you even repeated it when they tried harming the dear animals you hold close to you.

THE TRAITOR Atticus/Adeline Ovesen

The famed ‘Treasure King’, a persona you had no knowledge of until they up and left with your child. Dirty blonde hair tied up into a ponytail with a single braid dangling to their chest, it almost seems to blend in with their fair complexion. You wished they were dull, like those brown eyes of theirs, but they weren’t. They constantly interrupted conversations, always trying to fix you because you weren’t perfection. They have greed unlike any other, one that tears about anything in its way.

THE CRAFTER Llyr/Coradelia Attawater

The spectacle you’re doomed to meet along your path of vengeance. Long and flowing white hair, their silver eyes pulled you in without a second thought. The bralette of pearls they were along their chest contrasts beautifully with the blue scales that run up and down their arms and abdomen. Coming from the Arctic oceans, they possess a porcelain tone that matches the fins protruding from their elbows. They have an envious personality, one that matches the dragon-shaped fin at the bottom of their blue tail.

THE ENCHANTER Neptune Oceana

The merperson who hides behind makeshift seaweed glasses and swears to help you with all the magic they’ve got. Often switching between short-cropped and long purple hair, they’re one of the only merpeople to be born with gills on their ribs. Silver scales shower their abdomen, even M!Enchanter. Their purple hair matches the varients of purple on their betta-shaped tail, dorsal fins, and ear fins. Enchanter is one of the people you can count out through and through, even if they have a past of their own.

YOUR CHILD Morgan Waterford

The light of your life and the one you live for. She came into your life unexpectedly and has forever stayed there with the biggest place in your heart, with bright smiles and a cheery attitude, she’ll never fail to make your day better. Only being 8 years old, Morgan has a natural curiosity that she adopted from you.. something that gets her in danger far to much then you’re comfortable with.

Mercury Update

He is coloring up a little today. His swimming is a lot worse, but he seems a little stronger. He's still not eating, so I don't know if he will pull through. I'm going to keep him on antibiotics, and hopefully he gets better soon.

He looks a little more blue today.

Do people not realize that if they buy a betta they are not rescuing them? You're exchanging money for merchandise, you're not doing anything but making sure that there is a demand for more bettas? If people really cared about bettas from big box stores then they'd simply boycott the purchase of them.

Virgil was a purple betta fish mermaid that was currently being transported to the Sanders Aquatic Rehabilitation Center after he had been rescued from a ring of smugglers that had had him for almost a year. The rescuers had to leave him in his too small tank while they transported him because he refused to let anyone near him without trying to bite or claw them. He was curled up as tight as possible in the corner of his tank, glaring at all of the rescuers in the transport van as he picked at one of the many cuts on his body subconsciously.

Patton is a blue discus mermaid with a brilliant turquoise blue tail that faded to sliver on the underside. He had been rescued a few years ago from an illegal breeding center, and since had been used as a helper to acclimate new fish due to his relatively friendly and gentle nature.

Of course, this wasn't always successful, and the scars down his back prove it, but he's generally good at giving space. He is a little worried that not only are they in the big tank, but the rest of his school is being kept away from him which is a bit distressing. But he tries to remain calm and happy for the new fish, and makes sure to stay in one of the corners away from the greenery.

More merfolk designs from me :) I had the idea that Cellbit had fin rot when he was captured and.... I drew three different Cellbits. I planned to have Foolish, Tubbo, and Sunny done soon, but Cellbit fin rot consumed my brain. I now know more about betta fish and fin rot than I ever thought I would need in my life.

Design notes below the cut!

Before capture: - He has a bit less stubble cause i imagine he was a bit younger - The tail color is green like his main jacket - Hair is all brown cause he hasn't had the traumas yet

Fin Rot: - Hair is starting to turn white cause of the traumas - Sail and tail have fin rot. A combination of the fights and bad tank conditions have led to the decay in fins. - Color is a muted green cause of the poor water (ig?) - Scars from various fights. - They're hard to see but I did give him two bite scars. One on the right, directly above the fin, the other is below the hips in the center. Other scars are on his face, chest, back , side and tail. - I think the scar on the back of the tail came from a mer dragging him down and grabbing him by the tail to do so. - Scar on the sides was a mer grabbing him from behind, dug in and pulled. - Others i imagine are just scratches, for better or worse.

After capture: - Scars have actually scarred over and are a bit smaller, and not as red. - Betta fins and colors are able to change over time and the course of their life. I didn't really want the twins to be the 'Christmas twins' with the tail colors, so I took from the 'Taking inspiration from Cell's fed outfit', (though im not sure if that was just for the tail colors or the whole current design....) The color comes from his Federation goggles. (If you have a better color Toast please let me know) - The damage to Cell's tail was too much to heal completely after the rescue plus the time it took to actually be able to treat him for it, so it didn't grow back fully. - Hair streak is completely white, cause traumas have happened.
