I kinda hate how Cirie's demise has exposed how comp dependent BB has become. Like yeah we been knew, but it’s like… you don't need to do all this song and dance on Survivor. But because a single person has the power to control the fate of everyone in the house week to week, it requires players to cover themselves on all sides, resulting in the post-16 meta of a huge onion alliance to maximize one's chances of not hitting the block any given week. There's no need for that in Survivor; the only person an immunity winner can impact is themselves, so the rest of the tribe isn't forced to play around the whims of a single person. And with the comps themselves becoming increasingly physical over the years, somehow this glorified summer camp is more dependent on physical fitness than the game that starves people on an island for a month and a half.

I was talking with my stepdad about swords (this is a common occurrence) and I told him about the free HEMA class I took once, and how, out of the three weapons they took me through drills of--knife, dusack, and longsword--it was the longsword that I liked best

And he said he wasn't surprised, and I asked why, is it like how I like the feel of playing bass with the longer neck and the heft of it?

But he said no, it's because I've always wanted an excuse to be violent (because, I guess, longsword is a bit more brutal of a weapon than the other two). He didn't mean it in a "you're dangerous" kind of way but in the "aren't you tired of being nice? don't you wanna go apeshit?" kind of way

And I was like ".........oh. yep. that makes sense" and just thinking on it now made a few things click into place

I saw that other ask about Zuko ending up firelord in LIAB and I'd just like to add on to that my thoughts abt it in the original show- was it just me or did it feel really out of character for Iroh to try and push Zuko into a major leadership role at 16?? Like how did he possibly think that was a good idea, what with all the seriously heavy burdens that it would bring on to Zuko? Not to mention Zuko has had barely any chance to be a regular teenager for a second throughout the show, what with the 3 year banishment and then he's immediately pushed to be firelord.. Also the fact that firelord feels really unfitting for Zuko?? He's shown to not be a good leader. I feel like coming out of a 3 year banishment and awful childhood I don't think he'd want to be surrounded by constant reminders of his abusive father and not to mention be in the same role his *abusive father* was in... Sorry for the impromptu and slightly incomprehensible rant... this is still one of my biggest gripes in the show. Btw your writing is wonderful and im so excited for the next chapter of LIAB! I think Zuko would have been a good fire lord if he was given the proper training & support. But I have to say I think it was completely in character for iroh to do that to Zuko…

I enjoy iroh but I think his character is EXTREMELY flawed & his way of helping zuko develop from a young angry hurt 13 year old boy could have been handled a lot better. Yeah yeah he isn’t zukos dad but he signed up to mentor and be there for Zuko so he could have mentored him a little more. (a lot more - I don’t think is was likely Zuko had any growth from 13-16 because he was pretty awful at season 1 and disrespected everyone including iroh and was in so much denial about his situation it was SCARY)

I could go on & on about iroh and his missed opportunities with zuko but I think irohs “Zuko will overcome and he is good inside” way of thinking is what prompted him to plop his teenage nephew on that throne even though he was like 3 days into his redemption (ok yeah it was maybe a month? Idk but not very long). The anger, sadness, self doubt, unhealthy coping mechanisms were all still there - but iroh is very…. ‘He’s got this I believe in him’

Even if it means zukos going to struggle and stumble over himself and work extra hard to try and be a good leader with (let’s face it) almost no healthy leadership experience. (5 minutes into being aangs fire bending trainer he is yelling at him. his idea of how to get aang to take training more seriously is to attack him - yeah let’s give him a fucking country! Yiiipeeeeeeee)

If iroh cared about Zuko he would hang up his tea uniform, take his RIGHTFUL place as fire lord and have Zuko become his crowned prince and start learning how to be fire lord while UNCLEEEEE took the initial burden of becoming fire lord right after the war. But nahhhh let’s invent boba or whatever he was fucking doing in BSS

my review of the quarry is Fun game that suffers at crucial moments from being boring. 😪 that is to say the start of the game is loooong i know the characters need to be established but dare i say it, the game was far too ambitious in being able to handle a cast of THAT size. because nick & abigail & even poor jacob (i could even say kaitlyn tbh..) are neglected so much. nick you play as like ONCE, abigail a few times for very short segments and then every time i played jacob he was lost and naked in the forest LMFAOOO.

but it was a really fun game and id highly recommend it, id just say you might have to really push past the start of it and this one godamn segment in the game was so unbelieveably long and boring i felt like i was gonna die. like why are ryan and laura wandering around in this underground mine talking abt we only have an hour to kill chris !!! and then bickering and flirting like GODAMN !! CHOP CHOP LADIES .

my favourite was dylan. didnt expect it. but he was a sweetie pie. my least favourite was ryan. i cant explain it but he had this selfish self-importance about himself that got on my last fucking nerve and maybe that i had to play him so many times and hear him go 'uhhh' so much it had me wanting to ram my head into a wall. emma and her exposition to her instagram fans was more bearable. and besides i love mean girls who go on zip lines. but dylan was such a cutie . abigail shouldve been a lesbian .

I did Far too many adult side quests today on top of working retail q4 so I am getting hammered while making dinner and hoping I’m not hungover af at work tomorrow

#one of my headlights was dead and I was planning on replacing it this weekend #but then as I was leaving work yesterday I realized both my headlights were dead 🙃 and since it gets dark at 5pm it’s a huge safety issue #so I called late into work today so I could run somewhere and get my headlights replaced #and then the computer store called while I was at work telling me that y computer was ready to pick up #and they’re only open til 5:30 and Im off at 5 at a place 15 minutes away so I had to plan to run out of work On Timw #but they wanted me to bring my charger to double check it was running well #didn’t think I’d have time to stop home and get my charger so I simply Bought another one at work and planned to return it later #(EVEN THO WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF THEY SAID THEY DIDHT NEED THE CHARGER) #anyways. i think a lot about Singed and Rio and have many feelings about them and a lot of it ties into my opinions on animal experimentation as a whole + the strange disconnect of simultaneously needing to use an animal for the benefit of ppl in a way that is harmful to that animal while still loving that animal dearly (ie how scientists are with lab rats and mice, cattlemen with cows, etc)
