Decision to Leave - the RM connection
I saw Decision to Leave (2022) on the plane coming home on Friday. It's written and directed by Park Chan-Wook who also made the SK film classics Old Boy and The Handmaiden.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Watching the trailer again I can see real parallels with the style of The Handmaiden which was a film that stayed with me long after the credits rolled.
youtube
I found this review and I think it hits upon all the main themes and says many of the things I would have wanted to say about the film but in a more elegant and eloquent way.
It's clear that Decision to Leave also means something special to RM. In a recent interview with Park Chan Wook he said this in response a question on South Korea as a brand.
Tumblr media
In September 2022, Namjoon posted the following quotes from the movie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
11/09/22 RM's Instagram Story (Trans cr: Aditi @ bts-trans)
1. Hae-jun  (Keeping his eyes on the binoculars, pushing the massager away with one hand)  For some, sorrow comes crashing in waves. For others, it spreads gradually, like ink in water.
2. Seorae's 'aha' expression. (She hands over the umbrella and ties his unravelled shoelace) Hae-jun: I always try my best to look straight at people. If you look at the corpses we find at sites, about half of them have their eyes open.
3. Hae-jun: You said I was classy, didn't you? Do you know where that class comes from? It's pride. I was a policeman with pride. But in my madness over a woman, I screwed up the investigation. I......am completely shattered.
The shattered scene is devastating and central to the whole movie.
Tumblr media
Namjoon also posted the following mountain climbing clip where he uses some of the dialogue from the film.
25/09/22 RM's Instagram Story (Trans cr: Aditi @ bts-trans)
So it was not surprising that he should choose to pay tribute to one of his favourite films through music. This week he released an alternate version of Closer with clips from the film. I think this MV would be quite confusing to anyone who didn't understand the whole context but it does show that Namjoon is a lover of film noir and its take on love (obsessive and tragic).
youtube
"Decision to Leave X RM 'Closer' (with Paul Blanco, Mahalia) Collabo M/V, Made a little lofi arrangement to better match the mood of the film!, It's an honor to do this for the movie I love."
Tumblr media
And while we are talking about soundtrack music the song Mist by Jung Hoon Hee is repeated at various points in the film and really adds to the ambience of the film and its exploration of the femme fatale trope.

My trip to Japan! ⛩️ Part 5 (last)
21.12
The winter solstice made an entrance with a very cold day. Getting out of Osaka station was fortunately much easier than it seemed on Google Maps, and we found our hotel easily. We left our luggage and went straight to the castle. The current one is the third iteration, rebuilt in 1970 after being destroyed twice in the 17th century, when it was first built. Therefore, at 53 years old, this version is actually the longest-standing one. Inside, it's a museum, not a castle, but it was interesting, unexpensive, and the views from the top are fantastic. What impressed me the most, however, was the double moat, huge and full of water. There were even boat rides around it (we didn't ride, but they were there).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We then went to the Namba district, where I had marked a restaurant that had an Attack on Titan collaboration, but it was over. We had lunch in a US-style burger restaurant. In fact, next to Namba there’s this area called Amerika-mura, with many shops of American items or aesthetics. Lots of hip-hop style clothing. It's worth mentioning that the commercial density of Osaka is similar to Tokyo; every building is a shopping center, and there are several covered pedestrian streets as well. Walking around,  we reached Dotonbori, Osaka's entertainment district around the canal of the same name, and went on to a street with several manga and anime shops. I had already browsed some in the previous cities and everywhere, here too, there was little to nothing on AoT. Only a handful of 2nd hand, 2nd rate keychains/badges featuring none of my blorbos (sorry Jean, I love you, but not as much as to buy merch with your horseface on it). Still, I managed to find a tiny string bag from the Sanrio collabo and a couple gachas.
Tumblr media
For those who don’t know, gachapon are coin-operated machines that dispense a plastic capsule with a surprise inside. Like a Kinder egg, minus the egg. Each gachapon has a picture showing the trinkets you can get in that machine: small character figurines from a given franchise, or a collection of figurines following a certain theme, or a certain character in various positions; keychains, stickers, totebags... anything and everything. And when I say everything, I mean everything. Japanese Rule 34: If it exists, there's a gachapon of it. The variety of themes and objects you can get from a gachapon is as overwhelming as the commercial streets of the country. Every tourist attraction has some related gachapon. In castles, there are gachas of samurai figures, tiny swords, or pins with emblems of Japan's feudal houses; near zoos, there are ones with animals. In commercial areas, there are entire gacha shops, some with several floors. Some of these shops include a container for recycling the empty plastic capsules, and all of them have a change machine, since gachapon only accept ¥100 coins. The price for gachas usually range from ¥200 to ¥500, with a majority at ¥300-¥400, although there are some "premium" ones up to ¥1000. All good, but I'm not willing to pay so much for a surprise.
youtube
⬆️ English subs available!
In this regard, gachas are not alone: buying surprises seems to be something very deeply ingrained and popular in Japan. Many brands sell surprise products. You buy a little box, an acrylic figure, a little doll, but you don't know which model out of the available ones you'll get. In several shops there are products that aren’t for sale; they're tombola prizes. You buy a number at the counter, you get one of those items. While, as Husband observed, we’re not privvy to the exchange rings generated by this business model, not so conceptually different from the stickers we collected as kids or Kinder Eggs themselves, the profusion of surprises really took me by surprise (no pun intended), both for its ubiquity and for the prices, which can exceed ¥1000, and you don't even get a chocolate egg to console yourself if, as it happened to me twice, you get stupid Eren.
For dinner, we did manage to go to an okonomiyaki place that had an AoT collaboration. Usually, collabo places aren’t particularly good places, food-wise. They offer a menu of dishes "inspired" by whatever franchise they’re featuring, and if you spend more than a certain amount, they give you a souvenir like a card or sticker, a surprise, of course. You also have the chance to buy exclusive merchandise made specially for that collaboration. Again, many of these items are surprises. In short, the food was decent, I got my photo with Levi’s cut-out, and got a little card of him, too.
22.12
After breakfast, we took the Shinkansen to Himeji. The city's 17th-century castle, which has remained intact until today, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Himeji Castle was defensive; it's not a palace, although it may look like one from the outside. Still, it's fabulous to see what a castle was like during that time in Japan (the defensive systems are very similar to European ones. As someone who hates the cold, I was pleasantly surprised by the arrow slits with replaceable covers). It's also mindblowing that this megastructure, mainly made of wood and adobe, is still standing after three centuries.
Tumblr media
A few years ago, for maintenance, they dismantled it... and reassembled it entirely… with the same 300 y.o. pieces. The two main columns are two logs almost a meter in diameter and 25 metres long, going from the basement to the 5th floor. The views from the top are beautiful. The visit included a stroll through the neighbouring Japanese gardens. Here, there's a very cute restaurant with views over one of the many ponds in the gardens, which, oh joy, had very reasonable prices, so being already noon, we had lunch there. We returned to Osaka, and after coffee we decided to go our separate ways so each could shop to their heart’s content until dinner. I checked a few merch shops for AoT stuff, no luck.
Tumblr media
⬆️ This comic book shop had a lot of dedicated doodles. I looked all over twice and Yams wasn't there, but I did find some other familiar faces.
We’d planned to meet in Shinsekai, but Husband got there first and said it was pretty dead, so we met in Namba and went to Dotonbori for dinner. We had takoyaki and kushikatsu, a local specialty consisting of breaded and fried skewers. I also ordered a beef cartilage stew, it was delicious and, funnily, it sort of tasted like fricandó, one of my favourite typical Catalan dishes back home.
23.12
We woke up early to catch the Shinkansen back to Tokyo. We left our luggage at the hotel (the same one as on arrival), and here I had a great disappointment because we planned to have a mid-morning snack at a nearby place, Hekkelun, which has been selling flan since the sixties. I don't know if I saw the schedule wrong on Google or if they changed it in the ten days we were touring the rest of Japan, but it was closed on the weekend. It made me very angry because I was really looking forward to it and, had I known, we would obviously have gone in the first Tokyo cour. I needed to cheer myself up, so after a tea in front of Shinbashi station, we passed by the NTV building, where there’s a beautiful clock designed by Hayao Miyazaki.
Tumblr media
We arrived just in time to see the movement at 12, which was, of course, super cute. We then went to the Hama-Rikyu park. It used to be the shogun's gardens and includes things like ancient tea rooms; a seawater pond, as it’s next to the bay; and duck-hunting ponds, an activity which seems to have been very popular back in the day. Using real trained ducks as bait, they led the birds to narrow corners of the pond with camouflaged huts on both sides from where they hunted them. We returned to Shinbashi for lunch and stumbled upon an inconspicuous sushi place in the basement of the station, where we ate amazing susi for almost half of what takeaway costs here. We decided to go our separate ways like in Osaka, to cover more ground. I checkedd a couple of cute stationery shops I’d bookmarked and went all the way to Shibuya to check the Attack on Titan pop-up shop (it opened on the 22nd, so it wasn't there in the first part).
⬆️(Sorry for the awful audio, I was trying to be discrete)
Tumblr media
Finally! I got decent merchandise (plus surprise cards for spending a lot my purchase).
There was supposed to be a collabo café nearby, but I had enough “surprises” and Shibuya was horribly crowded. I would’ve expected that a weekday at 6pm, not a Saturday at 4. I met Husband in Akihabara, where we looked at some merch stores (found nothing), had something at a cat cafe (pretty shitty, but the cats were cute), and had dinner at a nearby place.
Tumblr media
⬆️ All my Levi stuff was in that blue bag, kitty knew what he was doing!
24.12
We both woke up ridiculously early, so we had breakfast at McDonald's (the only thing open at 6 am where you could sit) and went to Meiji Jingu. It's a Shinto shrine in Harajuku where Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shoken, are enshrined as deities. Emperor Meiji opened Japan to the world in the mid-19th century, ending two and a half centuries of isolation during the Edo era. It’s beautiful, well-maintained and free. There is a small fee for the gardens, that we also visited. These were the emperor's gardens; there's a closed tea house from where the empress would gaze at the lake, with a small pier for fishing. There's also a lily field (barren since it was the middle of winter ofc) with a gazebo to contemplate the blossoming. This field was planted in what was once a rice paddy, where the children of noblefolk were made to work in ancient times to understand the labour than went into rice cultivation and appreciate the food they had.
Tumblr media
From there, we went to the ukiyo-e museum a couple of blocks away. It was small but very interesting, with lots of insight into this technique, the one from Hokusai’s famous "The Great Wave off Kanagawa". We ate at a nearby place, Kyushu Jangara: the ramen was excellent, with its tonkotsu broth, soft-boiled egg, and the comforting feeling that a proper bowl of soup brings on a cold winter noon. We took a stroll through Harajuku; it was so full it was a challenge to walk through the pedestrian street. We then walked down the main avenue, full of fancy brands, to Omotesando Station, where we took the metro to Tokyo Station. Here is Character Street, a gallery of character shops. I’d heard it was expensive, it wasn’t so good, yada yada yada… well, here I did get more AoT stuff, including Sanrio items.
Tumblr media
⬆️ There was probably more Aot stuff here than in all of the other shops I checked.
I stopped by the hotel to drop off the purchases, and we met at the KFC in Shinbashi to buy our "Japanese Christmas Eve dinner." The tradition, born from a 1970s advertisement, is to have KFC for dinner on this day. Despite what the decorations might suggest, Christmas is not celebrated here. They’re just into it for the aesthetics.
It was our last night in Japan, but not our last adventure! Around 11pm, right before getting into bed, we got an email saying our flight was canceled. Wham!
25.12
Needless to say, we slept like shit, and at six, we were already awake. Husband chatted with Lufthansa, and they rebooked us on a flight two hours earlier than the original one, so we got dressed and rushed to the airport. Every cloud has a silver lining, though, and I was thrilled when we got to ride on the LTS monorail! See you, Japan!

In 1998, the mainstream Hip-Hop landscape was dominated by No Limit soldiers, Bad Boys, and Wu-Tang killer bees. There was a preoccupiation with floss and, in the wake of the high-profile murders of 2Pac and the Notorious B.I.G., the industry seemed to want to shine as much as possible. Understandable — but out of Yonkers, N.Y., there came a crew.
With a production wizard, a brash beauty, a trio bred from the streets, and a tortured superstar who was taking the rap game by storm, the Ruff Ryders put the streets squarely on the late 90s pop charts. In doing so, they helped usher in the new millennium of East Coast hardcore: grimy enough for the hood; polished enough for the charts. They owned the streets and the radio.
Here's 25 of their best bangers.
#26
"JENNY FROM THE BLOCK" - JENNIFER LOPEZ FEAT. JADAKISS, STYLES P [BONUS SONG]
Our BONUS SONG pick is a celebrated classic guest spot! J. Lo got to reconnect with some of that Uptown swag and Yonkers connection when she hooked up w/two-thirds of the LOX.
#25
"THEY AIN'T READY" - RUFF RYDERS W/JADAKISS, TIMBALAND, BUBBA SPARXXX
They crew from Yonkers made it clear that they had love for that Dirty South swag. VA superproducer Timbaland laced the track, which also features Athens, GA's own: Bubba Sparxxx.
#24
"WW III" - RUFF RYDERS W/SNOOP DOGG, YUNG WUN, SCARFACE, JADAKISS
Swizz Beatz pulled together a who's-who of legendary emcees for this track from RYDE OR DIE VOL. 2. The song also served as the album opener for the hit compilation.
#23
"NIGGAZ DIE 4 ME" - DRAG-ON FEAT. DMX
X was Ruff Ryders' biggest star, and he had underrated chemistry with the young gun from The Bronx. The lead single from Drag-On's gold-selling 2000 debut album, OPPOSITE OF H2O, is one of the best from Y2K.

#22
"WHO'S THAT GIRL" - EVE
The single from Eve’s sophomore album, SCORPION, is one of her most memorable, mostly due to the catchy hook. She’s clearing up any confusion about who she is as a woman and what she brings to the table artistically, carving out space to shine completely on her own.
#21
"KNOCK YOURSELF OUT" - JADAKISS
Never sleep on Jada's ability to craft radio tracks. From his solo debut KISS THA GAME GOODBYE, Jada's second single wasn't a Swizz beat; it was actually produced by The Neptunes.
#20
"GOT IT ALL" RUFF RYDERS W/EVE AND JADAKISS
Jada and Eve pull off the classic "Battle of the Sexes" with this stellar back-and-forth over a steel drum-driven beat from Teflon. Released a single from Ryde Or Die, Vol. 2, it revived a classic pop music formula (seriously, everybody from Otis Redding and Carla Thomas to Ice Cube and Yo-Yo have done it) for the hardcore bling era.
#19
"WHO WE BE" - DMX
The surging beat is one of the most anthemic X ever rhymed over, and his aggression belies a tour-de-force performance that caps the tail end of DMX's most classic run. The kiddie chorus is the right kind of foreboding:  both a warning and a call-to-arms.
#18
"MY NAME IS KISS" - JADAKISS
Kiss and The LOX had been well-established by the time he released this declaration of self. It's a showcase for his particular brand of pensive street rap and lyricism, a pronouncement more than an announcement. And proof positive that Kiss has a lane all his own.
#17
"WHAT'S MY NAME" - DMX
By 1999, the whole world knew who this guy was. But X's hunger was still palatable in every single. Even as the vids got glossier and the collabos got Sisqo-ier, X managed to bring grittiness to hip-hop's surging mainstream over a skittering backdrop by Irv Gotti & Co.
#16
"LET ME BLOW YA MIND" - EVE FEAT. GWEN STEFANI
She'd begun her career on Dr. Dre's Aftermath, but we didn't really get to hear what E-V-E could do with the Good Doctor (and Scott Storch) until this monster hit from the early 00s. Paired with soon-to-be-solo superstar Gwen Stefani, the Philly rhymer delivered a bouncy single that still seems to capture the best of its era.
#15
"SLIPPIN'" - DMX
One of the best examples of DMX's tortured brilliance, the autumnal sadness of this classic perfectly conveys the hopelessness and vulnerability in X's verses. He's an artist who came to embody "write your pain," and this single from his second album is proof positive that few wore angst better.
#14
"LOVE IS BLIND" - EVE
An examination of domestic violence that lingers long after that first listen, Eve's heartfelt single was dedicated to her high school best friend. The Ruff Ryders' First Lady struck back for victims everywhere — and struck a chord with anyone who'd endured, known someone who'd survived, or had lost someone to the pain of abuse.
#13
"WHAT THEY REALLY WANT" - DMX FEAT. SISQÓ
DMX was on quite the singles run, Sisqó was at his post-"Thong Song" peak and over a slinky beat that could only come from Nokio, X rattles off his frustrations as a gruff ladies' man. The infamous name-dropping of "Brenda, LaTisha, Linda, Felicia..." made it one of the most quotable tracks in X's oeuvre and birthed a viral internet challenge almost 20 years after its release.
#12
"GOOD TIMES (I GET HIGH)" - STYLES P
Swizz's inspired flip of Freda Payne is the perfect backdrop for Styles P's ode to herbal refreshment. The hit leadoff single from his A GANGSTER AND A GENTLEMAN album, the track was close to inescapable in 2002; turning up everywhere from Swizz's own compilation to the Kevin Hart comedy SOUL PLANE.
#11
"STOP BEING GREEDY" - DMX
It sounded like a warning, issued from a newcomer ready to take on the flossy chart-toppers dominating the rap game. DMX had a few major hits under his arm when he unleashed this anthem, letting everybody know, regardless of where you stood in hip-hop's hierarchy, you were going to have to contend with the dark rhymer's hunger.
#10
"WHY" - JADAKISS
Over soulful production from Mobb Deep's Havoc, Jadakiss poses the hood's hardest questions. It proved to be one of his most resonate tracks, and it's not hard to see why. Referencing everything from the prison industrial complex to the early 2002 Oscar race, it became a smash hit in the summer of 2004, skyrocketing all the way to No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.
#9
"JIGGA MY NIGGA" - RUFF RYDERS W/JAY-Z
NYC-based rap labels were enjoying a friendly competition in the commercially lucrative late 90s. Roc-A-Fella and Ruff Ryders were two of the hottest brands in Hip-Hop. Jay-Z and Roc-A-Fella understood how to walk the balance between ballerific raps and street grit. Hov pairing with Ruff Ryders made all the sense in the world circa 1998.
#8
"RIDE OR DIE BYTCH" - THE LOX W/EVE AND TIMBALAND
It became a phrase that defined Bonnie & Clyde-esque solidarity for a generation. And it was the single that announced The LOX's second act, as the street rap trio had landed on Ruff Ryders after a highly-publicized departure from Puff Daddy's Bad Boy Records. The Timbo-produced track made it clear the trio from Yonkers could craft radio hits and keep it street.
#7
"WE GONNA MAKE IT" - JADAKISS FEAT. EVE AND STYLES P
An epic single that served as the first solo hit from Jadakiss, this street anthem (has any song ever epitomized that phrase better?) is one of the best in Ruff Ryders' enviable oeuvre. Alchemist laced Kiss with one of his most inspired beats, and Jadakiss delivers as only he can: the kind of rabble-rousing call to arms that resonated on many a corner.
#6
"GOTTA MAN" - EVE
There had been odes to thug love before, but none had managed to be so cute, so sweet and so street — all at the same time. Eve's brand of everygirl relatability was unique in the high glamour late 90s, but make no mistake — nobody could blend swagger and sex appeal like the Ruff Ryders First Lady. The kind of song that made many a thug wish they had this sorta girl by their side.
#5
"GO HEAD" - THE LOX
Sometimes you just know an artist is in their element, and just enjoy watching them work. The LOX were, in many ways, the soul of Ruff Ryders. The grimy street tales from the Yonkers trio were always a better fit for Ruff Ryders than Bad Boy, and Sheek Louch, Styles P and Jadakiss do what they do best on this melancholy masterwork from TJ Beatz.
#4
"DOWN BOTTOM" - RUFF RYDERS W/DRAG-ON, SWIZZ BEATZ, AND JUVENILE
Proof positive that nobody does synth-driven fanfare better than Swizz, this epic single gave Drag-On a huge boost leading into his solo career and was one of the few late 90s East Coast/Dirty South collaborations that didn't’ feel forced or awkward. Juvie repped for NOLA’s Cash Money and, circa 1999, this was the two hottest new labels in the rap game joining forces.
#3
"GET AT ME DOG" - DMX FEAT. SHEEK LOUCH
Everybody knew Dark Man X was coming. He’d been making noise via underground performances and several star-making appearances on hit singles by Ma$e and LL COOL J for almost two years. But his first major label single dropped like a grimy bomb in a landscape littered with shiny suits. With his first hit, X made it clear who he was, and also made it clear that the game wasn’t going to drown in jigginess as we raced towards Y2K.
#2
"WHAT Y'ALL WANT" - EVE FEAT. NOKIO OF DRU HILL
She finally had her moment. The "Illest Pitbull In A Skirt" had been waiting in the wings for almost three years, but it was this catchy, salsa-inflected single from the RYDE OR DIE, VOL. 1 compilation that not only let the world know the Philly firebrand had arrived, but made it clear the RR was taking over the radio.
#1
"RUFF RYDERS ANTHEM" - DMX
Could there be any doubt? The song that all but announced the genius of Swizz Beatz, its an anthem in every sense: instantly memorable; a call to arms for the crew; and a song that transcends its time and era. It's the label's theme song, and captures a moment in time that feels immediate and fresh every time you hear that infectious chorus -- but it never feels stuck in 1998. It's a street rap masterpiece. And to think, X didn’t even like the beat when he first heard it

Effective Marketing Strategies for Dubai Ecommerce Websites
A company with an effective marketing plan may quickly achieve the desired profit. In fact, marketing is crucial for raising online traffic and brand exposure, and eCommerce businesses are no exception. To increase sales and make money, eCommerce business owners in Dubai must implement the most effective marketing techniques.
E-commerce web design Dubai presents a golden opportunity for growth and success. A greater shift from in-person to online shopping pushes customers towards eCommerce platforms.
Most effective ways to boost your online store sales
Let's go through some of the top eCommerce marketing tactics. Below tricks will improve your website's visibility and increase sales.
1. Know your target audience
When working on your digital advertising, you have many options for customer classification. Understand that every consumer has unique preferences and inclinations. Therefore, if you are an eCommerce company owner in Dubai, you must know your audience's online behaviour. As a result, you can use your budget more sensibly. It is not cost-effective to spend money on those uninterested in your offerings. You won't be able to provide quality outcomes, ultimately wasting time, money, and effort. You may also get the help of a professional e-commerce website development Dubai company to customize your website for your audience.
2. Cultural aspects of marketing in Dubai
Dubai's consumer choices and behaviour are greatly affected by culture. When developing your marketing strategies, knowing and honouring the local cultural norms is critical. Residents of Dubai value tailored and culturally correct communications. Comprehensive local customs, linguistic differences, and religious sensitivities can greatly enhance your chances of gaining the trust and loyalty of your target audience.
3. Pay attention to social media
Various social media channels provide the best platforms for product marketing and audience engagement. Therefore, your main goal is to have a solid online presence across all social media channels. It is best to keep an eye on your rivals to gain a good knowledge of this. For instance, you may decide which social media network they use and whether one has a higher level of audience engagement.
Producing content and placing paid advertisements on the platform with the most engagement can draw users to it. Some e-commerce website development companies also help with social media marketing.
4. Local SEO techniques
These strategies help raise your company's exposure in local search results and enhance your chances of drawing clients serious about purchasing in Dubai. Local SEO tactics can help businesses targeting customers in specific locations.
Effective local SEO tactics include improving your Google My Business listing, and obtaining favourable online reviews. By using these strategies, you may raise your profile in local search results. It helps you enhance your chances of drawing in clients looking for your services.
5. Make use of email marketing's power
Many eCommerce business owners dont know the value of email marketing. It can increase sales faster. A strong email marketing strategy can bring many benefits to your online store. Additionally, sign-up bonuses are a common tactic used by e-commerce companies to expand their email lists.
This strategy can help you expand your email list and encourage new consumers to experience your brand. If you are hiring any e-commerce website development Dubai, ask if they provide marketing services, too.
6. Use of influencer marketing
Influencer marketing is gaining popularity due to numerous social media influencers' large followings and strong influence. Collaborating with relevant influencers in your sector can reach a bigger audience and boost your brand's message. It is crucial to select influencers with a genuine and active following who share your company's values.
In Dubai's digital sphere, sincere collaborations with influencers can significantly raise your brand's profile and reputation. Regarding digital marketing in Dubai, staying flexible and paying close attention to the constantly changing trends is critical.
7. Gather customer reviews
Receiving favourable feedback from clients greatly boosts sales. Furthermore, many buyers never purchase a product from websites with negative reviews. As a result, you should urge customers to post testimonials about your product on websites like Google Business and social media.
Send welcome emails to the people on your email list as soon as possible, introducing yourself and the services you provide. If they departed without buying anything, you can email them about cart abandonment. But bombarding them with emails every day can turn them off. Send emails only when absolutely essential, such as when a new product is updated.
Enhance your ecommerce website with proven strategies
In summary, increasing web traffic and sales is a difficult task that is unlikely to become simpler soon. Still, you may be able to raise your brand awareness and increase sales using the eCommerce marketing techniques listed above. Elevating Workspaces: The Integral Role of Breakout Areas and Lounge Spaces in Interior Design Modern Office
In the dynamic landscape of interior design modern office, the incorporation of breakout areas and lounge spaces has become a key strategy for fostering a collaborative, flexible, and vibrant work environment. These spaces, once considered secondary, now play a central role in shaping the overall layout and functionality of modern offices. Let's delve into the significant role that breakout areas and lounge spaces play in enhancing modern office interiors.

The green practices adopted by an online store can help raise awareness among customers.
Tumblr media
Eco-friendly packing materials
The excessive use of packaging materials represents a common problem in e-commerce, as products are often enclosed in boxes and packaging that are disproportionately large, leading to increased waste volume. To reduce the environmental impact, it’s important to choose  eco-friendly packaging materials, including cardboard which comes from recycled or recyclable sources and reusable packaging, which can be returned and used again. Encouraging customers to return packaging can help reduce waste and promote environmental sustainability.
Optimisation of returns
Returns represent a significant challenge for e-commerce businesses in terms of environmental impact. Aside from the logistics cost, returns lead to a surge in packaging and subsequent carbon emissions. To reduce this impact, it is essential to focus on prevention: by providing detailed information about products, such as sizes and materials, together with clear images and/or videos, you can help customers make well-informed decisions during the purchase phase. You can also offer customers personalised consulting or chat services to help them choose products based on their specific requirements. Reducing returns helps with sustainability as well as contributing to an online store’s overall environmental footprint. It also helps customers ensure they get exactly what they need when placing an order, saving them the inconvenience of returning items for exchange or refund.
Sustainability education for customers
Customer education plays a vital role in achieving sustainable e-commerce practices. By transparently communicating the eco-friendly initiatives taken by your business, you can help raise customer awareness, encouraging them to make more informed choices. This includes providing information on the environmental impact of the packaging used, promoting bulk shipments or suggesting greener delivery options. It can also be useful to share case studies on your sustainability initiatives through blogs, newsletters or social media. By educating customers about sustainability, you will help foster eco-friendly values and stimulate responsible purchasing behaviour, as well as boosting your brand’s credibility.
Collaboration with suppliers and partners who prioritise sustainability
To make an e-commerce business more sustainable, it is essential to collaborate with suppliers and partners who share the same values. Choosing suppliers who prioritise eco-friendly materials and sustainable production practices contributes to minimising the overall environmental footprint of the supply chain. Partnering with organisations that advocate for sustainability in e-commerce will help you ensure that your business adopts best practices and can facilitate collaboration on joint initiatives to reduce environmental impact.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
Environmental sustainability is a crucial and forward-looking objective for the e-commerce sector. While implementing eco-friendly delivery solutions is only one part of an overall sustainability strategy, reducing a company’s environmental impact requires an ongoing effort to improve operating practices, adopt sustainable technologies, educate customers and collaborate with suppliers and partners who share the same commitment.
Promoting sustainable e-commerce not only contributes to environmental protection, but also serves as a brand differentiator, attracting customers who prioritise the environment and can have an important impact on society as a whole. The trajectory of e-commerce is clearly shifting towards sustainability and companies that proactively adopt eco-friendly delivery solutions position themselves advantageously in an increasingly aware market that values these ethical considerations. Unveiling the Power of Customer Journey Mapping
Tumblr media
Customer journey mapping is your compass to understanding the intricate web of customer interactions with your business. In this article, we'll delve into the significance of customer journey mapping, breaking it down into a comprehensible roadmap, and exploring various tools that can assist you in this exciting endeavour.
What Exactly is a Customer Journey Map?
In the realm of business, envision yourself as the captain of a ship, steering through the vast sea of customer interactions. A customer journey map is your navigational chart, illustrating the complete narrative of how customers acquaint themselves with your brand, decide to make a purchase, and ultimately become loyal patrons.
This visual representation isn't merely a static image; it's a dynamic tool that empowers you to identify pain points, rectify issues, and enhance customer satisfaction. Whether it's streamlining your website for clarity or minimising hold times during customer calls, a well-crafted journey map can be your guiding star.
The Crucial Role of Customer Journey Mapping
Step 1 – Identifying Key Touchpoints
Imagine "touchpoints" as the ports of call on a customer's voyage with your brand, ranging from online interactions to in-store experiences. Identifying these touchpoints is the foundation of creating an effective journey map. Some are overt, like making a purchase, while others, such as online reviews, can significantly influence the journey. It's important to note that not all touchpoints are within your control, like third-party delivery partners communicating with customers.
Step 2 – Crafting Customer Personas
Customer personas are akin to vivid portraits of different customer archetypes. They're not generic stereotypes but rather nuanced representations of your actual customers. These personas should reflect demographics, psychographics, and their relationship with your brand. To enrich your personas, consider conducting interviews or surveys with real customers.
Step 3 – Envisioning Diverse Scenarios
Each persona will embark on a distinct journey with your brand. Failing to account for this individuality can lead to missed opportunities for improvement. Consider mapping four types of scenarios: the current journey, future projections, a day-in-the-life scenario, and a detailed blueprint. While it's not mandatory to create all four, doing so can provide unique insights.
Step 4 – Unearthing Pain Points
With personas and touchpoints in hand, it's time to unearth the hurdles and friction points within the customer journey. These could be sources of customer frustration or confusion. Identifying these issues is the first step towards resolution, whether it involves website updates or addressing frequently asked questions. Remember, this step isn't just about problems; it's also about identifying what delights customers.
Step 5 – Empathising and Adapting
Now, it's your turn to embark on the customer's voyage. Follow the path you've charted for each persona and immerse yourself in their experiences. This exercise will reveal whether the journey is a smooth sail or fraught with turbulence. When you encounter challenges, address them promptly. Keep in mind that customer journey mapping is an ongoing process, evolving as your business grows.
Navigating the World of Customer Journey Mapping Software
When it comes to crafting exceptional customer experiences, the right software can be your North Star. Here are some essential features to consider when selecting customer journey mapping software:
Ease of Use: Opt for software that mirrors the simplicity of a user-friendly smartphone interface, allowing you to effortlessly drag and drop elements without needing advanced technical skills.
Templates and Examples: Look for software that offers pre-designed templates and examples to kickstart your journey mapping process, saving valuable time.
Collaboration Tools: Choose software that facilitates real-time collaboration, enabling your team to contribute concurrently, similar to a digital sticky note party.
Data Integration: Ensure the software seamlessly integrates with other tools that collect customer data, providing valuable insights into customer preferences and pain points.
Reporting Capabilities: Seek software that generates comprehensive reports and visual representations, making it easier to interpret and act upon customer data.
Affordability: Consider the software's pricing structure to ensure it aligns with your budget, and explore options for trial periods to evaluate suitability.
Customisation: Opt for software that allows flexibility and customisation to tailor
the mapping process to your unique business needs.
Security Features: Prioritise software that offers robust security measures to safeguard sensitive customer information.
Holistic View: Select software that offers a comprehensive overview of customer interactions across various touchpoints, ensuring a cohesive and seamless customer experience.
In conclusion, customer journey mapping is your compass to navigate the seas of customer interactions. With the right tools and techniques, you can chart a course towards enhancing customer satisfaction, fostering loyalty, and ultimately steering your business toward success. So, set sail on this adventure of understanding your customers better, armed with the knowledge of their journey and the tools to shape it into an unforgettable experience.

NewJeans x Coca-Cola
Recently, a music video that is also a promotion was dropped by the rising 4th-Generation KPOP Girl Group of ADOR, NewJeans. The group released a music video for their digital single entitled "Zero." The music video and the song are a collaboration project between them and the soda company Coca-Cola. Recently, the group became the newest global ambassador and face of Coca-Cola South Korea. In order to commemorate this partnership, the group dropped "Zero" and took part in the new Coca-Cola Zero Campaign in South Korea. NewJeans' collaborative track "Zero" with Coke Studio combines diverse genres such as pop, R&B, and Jersey Club. The song takes a well-known melody and gives it a fresh and exciting twist, showcasing the group's unique charisma and dynamic energy.
Since NewJeans became the new face and global ambassador of Coca-Cola, the most visible media manipulation that is found within this collaboration is propaganda, specifically Testimonials. The song presents scenes where the beverage Coke Zero is visible, and lyrics in the chorus, such as "코카콜라 맛있다 (which translates as "Coca-Cola is tasty"), advertising the product. Although this is part of the collab song "Zero," it is uncertain whether the group does find the drink tasty or if they are even allowed to drink the beverage since health and maintaining body condition is one of the main priorities as a KPOP Artist. Nonetheless, NewJeans, with their rising popularity in the KPOP industry, is an opportunity and investment that the beverage company made to further increase its reach and diversity, especially with the continued growth of KPOP all across the globe.
Although KPOP and its music are ageless, this advertisement and collaboration's primary audience is the youth or the young adults since NewJeans just recently debuted and is a considerably new face in the industry. They attract primarily teenagers and young adults through their music, videos, and concepts, which is perfect for the target audience of the drink company, whose regular consumers are teenagers and young adults. However, everyone, regardless of age, enjoys a sip of Coca-Cola from time to time.
The main product the group and the company advertise based on the music video and song is the Coke Zero Brand. Based on the comparison, Coke Zero is said to have zero grams of sugar, calories, and carbohydrates, unlike regular Coke, which has 140 calories and 39 grams of sugar and carbohydrates. The taste of Coke Zero, although having zero sugar, is still somewhat similar to regular Coke since it uses artificial sweeteners. Although for many, carbonated drinks are not dangerous nor harmful to the body; excess intake may still cause complications to one's health. Caffeine and artificial sweeteners may also impact some selected individuals negatively when not regulated.

#194 - Aleph At Hallucinatory Mountain - Current 93 (2009)
Recently I have been kinda getting into more darker–folksy and classical music, with bands like early Ulver and Univers Zero, you know, stuff that is a bit intense and cryptic in a more folk and avant-garde direction, however in this wake of new found love of this more darker sound, I have discovered my love for Current 93. They first formed in the 80s as an industrial and noise group, which you can see from their earliest releases of Dogs Blood Rising, Nature Unveiled, and their many collaboration pieces with Nurse With Wound, another noise and industrial band. However, from what I have understood due to RYM listings of their albums, they didn’t get their footing in the folk sphere until 1987’s Imperium, their 6th studio album not counting the collabo pieces with Nurse With Wound.
There are two constants within the band, one, David Tibet being the only member to be in every line-up since the debut, and two, the constantly changing sounds. Every Current 93 album basically has a different sound to each, usually based around David’s wants, or more so desires to constantly try new things with his more dark and occultic brand of neo folk and ambient music, which I think reaches quite a great threshold with Aleph At Hallucinatory Mountain, which so far, from what I have heard of Current 93, is my favorite album from them.
Aleph At Hallucinatory Mountain is such an interesting album as it goes for a heavier, and even more doom and noise metal sound compared to their usual, more softer affairs with folk music. This direction is mostly due to their collaboration EP, Inerrant Rays of Infallible Sun, which was a piece with the stoner metal band Om, which I think gave Tibet some inspiration to try a similar, more metal sound himself. Surprisingly enough, this stark contrast in sound actually works for Current 93 in my opinion, sure their more pastoral, albeit creepy folk music takes a tiny bit of a backseat, the identity and musical and lyrical prowess is still felt here. Tibet’s poetry here is still as poignant as ever, creating a modernistic fairy tale that whirls through themes of satanic cults, and spiritualism, which seems to be a theme most Current 93 works go after, and one I really find interesting.
I think, even though the sound is a lot more different and heavier compared to stuff like All The Pretty Little Horsies and Sleep Has His House, you still get that awesome and dark sound that I think every Current 93 album should go by. In fact, I feel like David is finding a way to uniquely make another more heavy album, something that could be compared to his 80s works where he experimented with a lot more industrial music, so I think this doom and noise metal effort really works nicely. I am also just a complete sucker for doom metal with some of my favorite bands being Ufomammut and Sleep, so there is that too.
But, what I really adore about this album is just how well each song explores this record’s unique atmosphere. A lot of these songs are straight up bone chilling, almost comparable to stuff like Swans or Einstürzende Neubauten in terms of creating these atmospheric and dark sounding songs, but Current 93 gives it all a unique flavor that Tibet has clearly mastered throughout the years, and this mastering of atmospheres and how they are used on here makes this album a tried and true masterpiece in my opinion.
Really, I am quite surprised that this album isn’t as well known, or at least well beloved within Current 93’s discography. This is as good, if not even better than The Light Is Leaving Us All or Sleep Has His House, as it showcases a band going for a unique, but still really amazing sound, that I think works really, really well. I recommend listening to this at the middle of the night with headphones, as the stereo, in your ear experience helps let this album really go well, but with a nightly setting can really help make this dark album truly shine, or dim, I guess. Absolutely, highly recommend this one for both folk and doom metal fans.
