The way Bros really was a movie I needed so much.
It's just out there saying so much and I love it. So many good fucking lines that really hit home. It just felt sooooo gooood to see a different queer experience on screen.
I think like the message of "Love is Not Love" is actually really like needed right now. Because I really do feel that, queer love is different. We get to be different, and we get to proud of that.
And it's lines like "we had aids, they had glee" that just really show this kinda like difference. It's important to note things like that. Along with lines like saying that we're just now getting to tell our stories.
This is a movie really for people that need that just extra bit of just, queerness everywhere constantly, in a piece of media. Where queer history is talked about. Where queer characters get to be angry. Where we get to have a conversation on toxic masculinity. And so much more.
This movie is so fucking important, and I wish I could see it a million times, but cinemas are homophobic and its run is already coming to an end not even two weeks into its release. A real shame.
It's a good movie, a needed movie, and I wanna see more of shit like that.

I just watched Bros the other day and honestly I loved it so much. I usually can’t sit through rom-coms because they’re so over the top, but this was perfect. I loved the queer culture and humor and I love that the whole movie really was a big rom-com stereotype but through a queer lens because I feel like as queer people we don’t get those kinds of movies unless the ending is really sad or something like that. Queer movies always torture the characters for some reason and I hate that, or the entire movie is basically soft porn which I also hate. This movie felt like a straight rom-com where it was fun, sweet, and a little sexy and the comedy was really on point for me. I don’t think it’s for everyone, a lot of people just wouldn’t get any of it, but I loved it and so did my mom. I even geared up a bit and I’m not a big crier when it comes to movies that aren’t intentionally depressing.
I wasn’t even going to watch it because I didn’t like the trailers, but I gave it a chance and I think other people should too. I really loved it and I really, really loved the song at the end. It was the perfect amount of sweetness and cheese and I didn’t once find myself cringing hard and needing to leave the room or something out of secondhand embarrassment which I do with a lot of movies, especially comedies.
Go watch it. It’s really great.

Promoted as the first romantic comedy from a major studio about two gay men and the first studio film in history with an entirely LGBTQ principal cast, “Bros” finally arrives in San Francisco on September 30, after a sneak preview at the Castro Theatre on Sept 11. Co-writer and star comedian Billy Eichner explained in an interview with writer Brian Bromberger, along with co-star Luke MacFarlane, why it was essential to cast all the roles in that way. “The movie itself was becoming about allowing queer people to tell our own stories, to control our own stories,” said Eichner. “It felt like we needed to use this as an opportunity to populate the movie with openly LGBTQ actors and actresses [i.e. Jai Rodriguez, Amanda Bearse, Bowen Yang, Harvey Fierstein], trans people, and non-binary people who simply have not had these opportunities before based solely on who they were in their personal lives, which makes no sense.” Reposted from @bayareareporter Read more at www.ebar.com #Bros #BrosMovie #BillyEichner #LukeMacFarlane #gayromcom https://www.instagram.com/p/CivoO7cvP9A/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

About BROS:
This fall, Universal Pictures proudly presents the first romantic comedy from a major studio about two gay men maybe, possibly, probably, stumbling towards love. Maybe. They're both very busy. From the ferocious comic mind of Billy Eichner (Billy on the Street, 2019's The Lion King, Difficult People, Impeachment: American Crime Story) and the hitmaking brilliance of filmmakers Nicholas Stoller (the Neighbors films, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and Judd Apatow (The King of Staten Island, Trainwreck, The Big Sick), comes Bros, a smart, swoony and heartfelt comedy about finding sex, love and romance amidst the madness.
